I wanted to like this place, but the hummus wasn't great, and the chicken I ordered was chopped into teeny tiny pieces. I've had better elsewhere, albeit not in appleton. Would not return.

Best. Gyros. Ever. I was a little skeptical at first, but glad I gave it a shot. I've had my fair share of gyros and this beats all of them by a landslide. This is the best sandwich spot in town! The prices are amazing and the portions are HUGE. Friendly staff and restaurant is clean.

They are ok for burgers and hot dogs, just wish they wouldn't cut the hot dogs in half.

The best gyros and hot dogs in northeastern Wisconsin, would have to go to Milwaukee or Chicago for better.

As advertised, this place really does capture the flavor of Chicago dog and burger joints. Good Chicago dogs are hard to find north of Chi-town, so I was thrilled when I found out about Taste of the Windy City. Favorites on the menu: Chicago Dog, Gyro, and the Gyro Burger (bring your appetite for that one, it's a beast!). Unlike many other small chains, food quality is consistent between both locations so I gave them both the same review. Good stuff!

Not the best gyros in town but very good. Chicago style dogs are awesome.

I have to disagree with the following reviews. First off the young , dark short hair guy at the register was the most unfriendly character i have dealt with - no smile, no thank you, just sat there with a blank impatient stare. Same treatment when he brought out the food. Really?? You are the face of the establishment, learn some Customer service skills. I also disagree with the "made fresh" in the other review. My Gyro was not made fresh. the meat at most places is cut off the lamb that spins in the cooker. Mine came out of container and went direct to the grill to be heated. This indicates to me the lamb was not fresh, but leftovers and reheated. Lastly none of the people preparing the food were wearing gloves. So far no ill affects, but it did concern me. I have had better at other places when the meat is cut fresh off the leg of lamb, not leftover and reheated. Fortunately the prep area is open so you can see all that goes on.

The food was good but I expected more for the price. Standard burger was $5.49, under seasoned. Overall the prices seemed high for a place with counter service and many pre-fab menu items. The service was friendly.

So so food - fitting for the type of food. Italian beef was juicy but nothing extraordinary. Cicero dog was tasty. Good onion rings. Good service.

Nothing special. In all fairness,I should try the gyro meat because it got decent reviews. I might go back for that but definitely NOT for the Italian beef or the cheese fries. Cheese sauce was very generic and the beef, although good flavor , had tons of gristle all through it. What a turn off!

A $10.30 small tasteless Gyro combo with undercooked fries on the 4th of July. I wanted to like the place. No dice.

I'm from Chicago and this would definite for in for the foodies at home. Clean and new feeling. There was a bit of construction going in during my lunch so I couldn't give it 5 stars. Friendly and helpful staff.

Nothing that rocked my tastebuds. Had the pizza dog and hubby had the Italian beef. Both edible at least. Chili cheese fries were even bland which I'm not sure how that's even possible. Carbonation out in soda tank. Dude changed it over and still seems flat even other people commented on it.

I really wanted to like this place because there's a great selection and variety of foods. I love wraps so the two times I've gone there I got a wrap each time with onion rings. First time, I got the buffalo chicken wrap and must of excused the lack of flavor (had to add mustard for some taste) and the nasty cheap shredded cheddar because I got a nice big helping of golden crisp onion rings. Second time I tried the veggie wrap. This wrap was absolutely horrible and was more like a overpriced wrap with more lettuce than anything (I tried to make it better by adding their tasteless and gross cucumber sauce). Veggie wraps generally have more than four ingredients...cucumber, avocado, hummus, sprouts, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and lettuce, not just the last four I mentioned. And also this time getting the same combo, I didn't get a nice big helping of onion rings. No, this time I got half the amount of onion rings which were majorly overdone! Maybe the amount of the tip has something to do with the onion ring amounts and quality? Anyway, I have no longing to go back there. If they can't even make a simple wrap, I won't spend anymore to try to find flavor and quality in their overpriced food.

What a treat! Always skeptical, we decided to give it a go. I spoke with Ruben who was very helpful and answered all my questions even though he seemed perplexed when I asked what brand of tamale they offered. I was elated to find out they sell Supreme Tamales which I think are the best! I've been eating Supremes since childhood. Tommy Tuckers in Niles, IL offered 4 "petite rolls" in one tidy little packet. But I digress. We stuffed ourselves on Italian Beefs, nicely dipped on a sturdy piece of italian bread and gyros packed to the brim with fresh off the cone meat. The tzatziki sauce was awesome, nice creamy texture with bits of cuke! The pita bread was soft as a pillow and the sammy topped with fresh tomato and onion. The fries were just the way I like them (slightly undercooked) and the tamale was cooked to perfection. The food was so amazingly good we stopped on our way out of town to grab 2 gyros and a beef to go. Can't wait to make a return trip to Appletons Windy City!

Place is nice inside, I had this steak sandwich thing that was pretty darn good. Fries kinda sucked tho. They are weirdly shaped kinda soggy and limpy

I have to agree with Nick E's review, perhaps the BEST Chicago style hotdog and italian beef in the NE Wisconsin area.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
