Absolutely fantastic! We went there last night to celebrate my birthday, and I had the best, and I mean best Ribeye with Bleu Cheese and Mushrooms! I'm a steak lover, and honestly this was so delicious! My boyfriend had one of the many choices of burgers, and loved his too! We will be back! Great food, great cozy atmosphere!

Excellent service! Rosemary salad was soooo good. Spats sauce also extremely delicious. I'll be back.

Spat's is the best food in town. They have everything and it is all spectacular. Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches, Steak, Salads,... it's all fantastic. Their drinks are always well made. I'm a big old fashion fan and they always get it just right. The service is great too! A lot of people have mentioned the fish. It is also great, but to go here just for the fish wouldn't give it the credit this place deserves. 5 stars. Every time.

Great local bar with great atmosphere. Food is tasty and dirt cheap. Doesn't look like much from the outside but nice ambience inside with friendly staff. Highly recommended.

My husband and I are visiting Appleton and decided to try this place out and are we ever happy we did! When we first got inside we were kind of taken back that it was just going to be "bar food" but it wasn't at all! Everybody was so nice and it was great food, drinks and beer!

Went for the Friday Fish Fry. Atmosphere was amazing. Everyone was super friendly. Perch and Scallops were very good. Drinks were overpriced for Appleton, WI.

Awesome food and the bartender on Thursdays is hot. They have spotted cow on tap and the burgers are the best in town.

I finally had a chance to visit Spats after having lived in Appleton a long time and driving by regularly. Being a beautiful summer evening with a group of friends walking downtown, we decided to eat outside on the Spatio. The staff was great in getting a few tables put together for us and putting in an umbrella to give us some shade. The servers were friendly and very knowledgeable, answering all of our questions easily and with charm. In fact, we had our kids with us, and I was a little concerned about bring them to what is seemingly a bar, but there was no problem, and our server took a little extra time talking to the kids and getting them their own high top. I ordered a BBQ bacon chicken breast sandwich, while my wife ordered the Herbie Burger, a "burger nestled inside a grilled cheese sandwich." We decided to split our sandwiches as we both thought each other's selection were good. Both sandwiches were very tasty. The chicken was moist and just the right size for the bread, and the bacon done just right for a sandwich, not too crispy, but not undercooked. The burger was also done medium rare as ordered, and being inside a grilled cheese sandwich, what wasn't to love? We both ordered the Spats fries, which were seasoned first, then fried. Crispy outside and soft inside, just right. I dipped mine in Spats sauce, a mild horseradish with a good flavor. I may see about picking some up at the grocery store! I didn't see much of the inside, as we just stopped at he bar to let the staff know we wanted to eat outside. But, from what I could see the bar and nearby booths were clean and well-maintained. I'm looking forward to visiting again!

Delicious food. Coconut shrimp. The fries are pretty standard, but the batter used for the shrimp was pretty savory. Our waitress seemed, objectively, a bit aloof and not very personable, but she was also very busy. She had multiple tables who were needier than ours, so I give her a pass. Ambiance is a bit outdated and the crowd was mostly 55+

Fish fry with the family, cheese curds were so good we got a second order. Cheeseburger was cooked well but my son did not like the peppered bacon- a bit too strong in flavor. Fish FYI platt was good- shrimp was cooked correctly. Crab cakes were unique. There was 5 small cakes deep fried instead of on the flat top- not too bad.

Spats has good bar food, and their dinner options have never disappointed. I often order the Herbie Burger, which is like a grilled cheese with a hamburger patty. The patio is a nice spot to enjoy a meal on a nice day.

Typical bar atmosphere but they DO NOT TAKE American Express! Good food and the spats sauce is a mild horseradish that is great on everything.

Had a burger and fried shrimp. Nothing to write home about. Steamed carrots and bread were the highlights of the meal. Nice people

Some of the best burgers and fries in town, good beer selection, great service, and amazing Irish food around St. Patrick's day. One of my favorite places in Appleton.

Our FAVORITE restaurant in Downtown Appleton... absolutely delicious! A little pricey.. but so worth it for the amazing food.. we've had their fish - deep fried and pan fried- which is always great, we've also tried their steaks and this last time their mango chicken... wow! A definite must stop if you travel to Appleton or a must-try if you are from the area! :)

Had a very nice experience for lunch- sat in back room, which has a nice jazz musical instrument decor. Kids loved the corn dog and fries, was quiet enough even on a Friday at noon to hear conversation. Most people sat in tables in front near the bar area, but the noise level was still not bad there. I had perch, was the perfect light Wisconsin breading so you could actually taste the fish. They have a fun mild in house horseradish if you want to go away from the traditional tartar. Rye bread & slaw were standard and fresh, and I liked that there are multiple french fry choices- I had the seasoned ones- very good. Outdoor seating and enough parking outside make it a really nice stop in the downtown area- but the real star here is they know how to fry up fish.

Great food, people, prices & atmosphere. A hidden gem that the younger crowd needs to discover. Looking forward to festive summers on the spatio!!

i've gone to Spats for fish since i was very young. have always ordered the broiled haddock. every time i've ordered broiled haddock anywhere else it does not compare. the wait time for friday fish is quite lengthy, but the fish is to die for.

Good for a casual dinner and moderately priced. Friday night fish offerings are really good. However it gets pretty crowded. Go early or late. Be sure to check out the Spatio-- their outdoor patio. My husband and I took in some live entertainment out there earlier this year. It was very good and very fun.
