Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

My spouse and I love this place. It's not quite as good as the original location (95%) but it's much more spacious and comfy so it balances out. Service is good, prices are more than fair and the food is great. Staff is very friendly and cleary want you to have a positive experience. The table side guacamole is both delicious and entertaining (they make it right then and there). However it is the Molcajete that brings me back over and over again. Everything Hispanic in one hot and delicious crock brought right to your table. If you have never had Molcajete at Solea, you are missing out. Just writing this review makes me want to start planning our next trip to Wisconsin!

I'd heard good things so we tried it. I have NO idea what people are talking about. They have a new "gourmet" menu. Food looked tasty so I ordered off it. HORRIBLE. Greasy tortillas slopped on a plate on top of wax paper with a tablespoon of meat and about 8 tomato chunks. That was it. That was all that was on the plate. Four greasy skirt steak tacos and they serve raw corn shells like "Mexican" style. Anyone knows when u do that you use TWO shells because they tear immediately. Flavor was bland. Presentation was dog food. And it was 13.00 Done, and done. Horrible food but our elderly waitress was nice.

Fantastic food and very fast to the table. Chimis are the best. Very friendly wait staff. Good bean dip with the warm chips. Very reasonable prices. Kids food aplenty. Place is always full of customers.

I love taking my parents out to Solea when I come to visit them. I travel for work and their house margaritas stack up with any I've gotten around the country and the Tex Mex food is great. I would recommend the chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. We always have a good time and a good meal.

We always love Solea! Typically we share the combo fajitas for two. We love the steaming pile of meat and veggies. The only complaint is the number of tortillas you get with the meal. We always end up paying for more and still taking home a full box of leftovers! The salsa and refried beans that come before the meal are always great! Tonight my husband had a large house margarita. It was huge, and only $10! I had a lovely N/A piña colada! Great service, great food. We'll be back!

I am actually pretty surprised by the low reviews for this place. I've been here a few times and always enjoyed a solid meal; I was never disappointed. Most recently, I celebrated my 23rd birthday here. Our friendly waiter recommended the new spinach, cheese, and onion enchiladas and they were delicious! Very vegetarian friendly. What really made the meal was the homemade cilantro garlic cream sauce. Yum! The waiter found out it was my birthday, so they sang a birthday song to me and gave me a complimentary dessert. They also let me wear a huge sombrero! Maybe it was just the novelty and fun for my birthday, but I really enjoyed eating here. I would definitely return.

The service here is always excellent and the food is typically very good. I have eaten many times at the other Solea locations and I would rank this one the 2nd best compared to the other two locations. The one thing that disappoints me about Solea in general is they are heavy on the salt, the Menasha location is the most consistent, and this location is hit or miss when it comes to seasonings.

It was ok. Ordered cheese dip and it was cold and not really melted. The waitress was nice although she seemed to be lost is space. I asked for a refill on my drink and since it was not completely empty she just stared at me. Not sure if the chips were made in house either. The salsa was pretty good but was in a small small dish.

First and Last time at a Solea! We couldn't decide between the Seafood Enchiladas and the Tinga Burrito. We split them... Tortillas were fine, as was the bean dip and salsa. Good - but nothing special. Tinga Burrito was put in front of me. I liked the taste for the first few bites, and that's when I noticed that the chicken seemed watery, as in, they got the chicken out of a Can! I hadn't noticed it in the first few bites because I was biting into the flour tortilla. If it wasn't canned chicken, then why was the chicken so watery?? My Husband was eating the seafood enchiladas and not saying a word. That's not a good sign. We switched plates and I was furious. The menu said "Shrimp and Crab" were in the dish. No. It was KRAB - that was FALSE advertising! We would have never ordered it if the menu were truthful! On top of that, the dish was bland- NO Flavor. Seriously. This dish was just blah. The tequila roasted vegetables? Don't bother. The broccoli, carrots and zucchini were lightly steamed (aka: Raw) with black grill marks on them. This place was an over-priced joke. NEVER Again!

Perhaps I should try the Menasha location, because I was unimpressed by this one. The salsa tasted like pasta sauce, but the bean dip was quite good. I tried the tortilla soup, which was different than any I've had because it had large chunks of vegetable and one piece of tortilla. It also has a large dollop of sour cream. I did not care for the soup. I ordered chicken enchiladas cremosas, which said they had a poblano cream sauce. I did not taste poblanos. Chicken was dry and not flavorful. Service was ok. Not sure if I will return.

Well, we tried it. Once is enough. How can you mess up fish tacos?? Simple. Just dump a pile of some kind of spicy rub on them that came out of a box. That way you can't taste the fish. (??!). Food is not authentic. Maybe it's a "bar" thing, but the bar isn't very big. The server was very attentive, efficient, friendly..but when we noticed 2 cracks in the beer glass, she was SO SORRY...but didn't offer to take it off our bill or bring us another one, which pretty much did it for us. plenty of good restaurants in appleton. Don't waste your money here, it's nothing special.

The apparent bastard child of an illegal Mexican and a Polish immigrant, Solea delivers a bland selection of nondescript food lacking in personality, flavor, and distinction that evokes anyone with a pallet, not made of wood and stacked in a rodent infested warehouse, to cry out in pain and wonder if they had somehow traveled back to their infancy glued in to an out-of-date car seat strapped to a Flux Capacitor and were, in fact, eating an old jar of Gerber Squash (have you ever tried that stuff? Ewe!). Whereas, the Mexican side of the equation works hard to fill your need for sustenance with beans, rice and meat but forgot to bring the cumin along for good measure, the Polish side just sits there and wonders what to do and why their friendly one-armed cousin just fell out of a tree! The lack of flavor left my own pallet feeling lonely and completely disregarded by the entire student body . . . just like Jr. high school gym class
