My new favorite! If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the all you can eat buffet and also want an AWESOME value, FRIENDLY people, and DELICIOUS food, this is the place to go. I have not had better wonton soup and I really enjoy not having to deal with the constant back and forth of the folks going to a buffet. The food is cooked fresh when you order. Traditional American Chinese décor, but not overly done. The people there are very friendly. I've only been there for lunch, but you get a soup, main dish, rice, and two crab Rangoon OR an eggroll, or a fried wonton for one low price. I highly recommend this place. It's not fancy, but its more than what you should expect for the money and friendliness of the people.

I recently had dinner at Happy Garden with my dad and sadly left unimpressed despite the overly positive reviews. My dad got takeout from here and found the portion and quality of the pork with vegetables good for the price. However, when we dined in the restaurant we both found the other dishes to be of just average taste and quality. The Hunan Beef with vegetables lacked flavor and spice. The vegetables were fresh and not overlooked which I appreciated, but the sauce was weak and lacking in flavor. The Scallops in Garlic Sauce was a greater disappointment and not a dish that I'd recommend. The scallops were tiny though tender, but the dish had zero flavor. The sauce was light and had zero garlic taste. We took an order of potstickers home for my brother who was happy - these are his favorite at Chinese restaurants and Happy Garden did not disappoint. The potstickers tasted homemade and fresh and the dipping sauce had spice and good flavor. I'd order the potstickers again and maybe try another beef or chicken dish, but be sure to ask them to kick it up a notch with the spice if you like a little flavor!

I was looking for a good local Chinese place on my way home from work. Panda Express doesn't quite cut it. After driving past this place for years, I finally decided to give it a try. Not having a menu, I had to stop by to check out the menu. All the standard Chinese restaurant dishes are there. I decided on the Pepper Steak as a compromise between the really unhealthy but preferred General Tso or Sesame Chicken and going home to have a salad. The veggies were fresh, rice was cooked well, and the meat was more tender than normal. Often this dish has very tough meat that is hard to chew, but not at Happy Garden. I did not stay to eat, but while I waited (for about 20 minutes, a bit longer than average) the tables looked nice enough. The interior is a bit run down, but I'd say it just gives it more of a homey feel. Service was very friendly as well. My only complaint would have been the cleanliness of the floors, but since the tables and counter, etc. looked clean, I wasn't too worried about my food safety. My coworker tried it a couple days later and also enjoyed her food. She said she finally found a place nearby that had a good steamed dumpling and fried rice. All in all, if a person is in the area and craving Chinese food, I'd recommend stopping by!

I don't know why this place would ever get negative reviews. These are sweet, kind people that work very hard. Their food is excellent and always fresh - and I am a STICKLER for Chinese. I won't eat it if it is not good. I've had their Kung Pao Tofu, their Chicken and Vegetables, and all of their soups and appetizers. Lovely place, quiet and calming atmosphere. I will be a customer of theirs as long as they are in business. (Which I hope is a long time!!)

I have ordered food from this place many times over the years, and they have great food. Kind of a hole in the wall place, but they are always very friendly and I have never been disappointed with my meal.

Contrary to what "Carly M." believes this is the best Chinese Restaurant in Appleton. I've been going to their restaurant for over 5 years now and never had any problems with them. Recently I called a bit too late and it was already way passed their closing time and they graciously allowed me to come even though it was so late. Sometimes I come in and they already know what I want to order (it's their General Tao's Chicken, the best I've ever had) and I always feel at home there. Their staff is always friendly and I recommend everyone to go there!

Don't know what happened to the previous reviewer, but we happened on this place shortly before moving here about a year ago and have since discovered it is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in town (and probably in the Fox Cities area). The dishes are uniformly excellent with much more subtle flavors than I have ever found before in a small family restaurant. They could easily go far upscale and double their prices with no loss of business, but they are unassuming and unambitious and do their best to keep their custom down, without much success. I would call this place a find in any city, let alone one as small as Appleton.

I was really craving some good Chinese food so I found this place on google and ordered take out. I ordered sesame chicken and fried wontons. The sesame chicken was so sweet I ate 3 pieces and had to throw the rest away. The fried wontons were okay. They were pretty small, about the size of a quarter around, and there was a ridiculous lack of meat in them, so much so that the meat that was in them was so dried out it literally had the same texture as the fried wonton wrapper. The only thing I ended up eating was the rice, which was good of course. The place itself seemed very clean and staff was friendly. You cannot go wrong with their prices but I will not be back unless I'm craving rice!!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
