We tried this restaurant for the first time for dinner. I started with the beet salad and it was amazing. My husband had the asparagus salad which was the special and he really liked it. For dinner I had the pork belly and it was delicious. My husband had the salmon on special and he loved it. The prices are reasonable. Full bar. Local beers. We will definitely be back to try different things!

I was concerned that Gather would go under the radar, since it is located in a commercial area that becomes quiet after the business day is over. We learned about and tried this place because of an earlier Yelp review we had read. The crispy chickpeas and pork belly that I had were a-mazing! The style of the restaurant was modern and I appreciated the larger city vibe that it offered. If I had to gripe, the balance of the drink that I'd had was off, so the alcohol overpowered all of the other ingredients that the menu boasted. Other than that, I had no complaints and Gather will see us again!!

What a disappointment! After receiving a delicious craft beer off the extensive list, our meal went down hill. Our apps arrived frozen in the middle, then our meal took over an hour to arrive after ordering. I ordered the 'ridiculous burger' cooked medium with potato salad. The only thing ridiculous about the burger was the price. There were 3 tiny slices of mushroom and it was overcooked to a solid well. The bun was very dried out and did not enhance the meal a bit. The potato salad was good, but not memorable. Gather was a very long, horrible, expensive dining experience.

Went there today for lunch ! It was amazing . We got one on the worlds best cheese burger and the grilled tuna salad ! We will be back !

Please go to Gather as soon as possible and then go back again right after. Gather is not just the best new restaurant in Appleton, it may be the best restaurant overall. My wife and I have been twice for dinner and once for "snacks" at the bar and have been wowed by the experience each time. The preparation of each dish, even the tiniest plates, is outstanding. On our most recent foray with my in-laws, we shared several small plates and two entrees. The Salmon and Walleye dishes were incomparable. I truly worry about the long-term viability of the restaurant, however, as we were able to walk right in and have our pick of tables on a Tuesday night (not so unexpected) and a Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. (shocking). The wine and beer selections are the best in town. Please, please, treat yourself.

Excellent! Went last Tuesday and having read good and a few bad reviews (slow service, average food, etc), I was wondering how it was going to be. Service was fast, from the manager to the host and our server. Everyone was very helpful and were always checking on us, but without overdoing it or being annoying and giving us time to eat and chat. Food was great, we had the kale soup, pork sandwich, kale stuffed chicken and the chocolate ganache muffins and everything was very tasty! Prices were reasonable ($10-20). I would definitely recommend it and plan on going back again.

Food was okay. But service was terrible. Not worth it. Great atmosphere and idea. But over 2 hour meal and place was empty. Did not come and take plates and so forth.

This was a thoroughly mediocre experience for a place that seemed to have so much potential. Service was leisurely, our waiter seemed relatively inexperienced, and while the menu looked delicious, many dishes had non-trivial flaws. We had a reservation on a Tuesday night (completely unnecessary), and there seemed to be one waiter covering all the tables. We ordered a bottle of zinfandel from the menu, and after a wait was told they were out of it. The waiter instead brought out a sangiovese (which is not a substitute). After we asked to look at the menu again to choose a different variety, he came out with a bottle of the zinfandel in a different vintage. The soup of the day (curried rice) was quite nice, and the spickles (fried pickles) were the star of the dinner. My sweet potato gnocchi were dense, chewy, and not overly flavorful - not fluffy and pillowy as gnocchi should be. The pork belly was reasonable, though one side was overdone. Sadly, they were out of one of their main desserts - the granola custard, but the dessert du jour (a blueberry cake) was delicious. On the whole, it is not someplace I'll make an effort to return to given the mediocre service and disappointing food. Despite the price tag, no member of our party left entirely full or satisfied.

My reviews are for breakfast only. We ordered: Cornbread French toast - this dish surprised us the most. If you like cornbread and loves French toast, then you would agree with me that you have found a perfect match for a breakfast item. The maple flavored butter is a great touch! Eggs & bacon - an old Wisconsin favorite was enlightened by orange/lemon jam. I hope that the ciabatta bread was homemade, because it was really chewy and tasty! Chai spiced doughnut holes - they didn't have the store-bought spongy texture but instead, they are fluffy and light coated with chai sugars. A must have dish. Services were great. And I am very happy to learn that they also provide call-to-order-and-pick-up-later services to frequent customers. Make sure to like their Facebook page so you can get frequent updates!

Wonderful! Gorgeous restaurant -- atmosphere is casual yet sophisticated: this is facilitated by rich wood, warm lights and a roaring fire in the center of the house. Food was fantastic, especially the chocolate torte dessert, and the owner, John Chastain, and his staff were exceptionally knowledgable about their fare and their beer. As I listened to him clearly articulate his philosophy on food and health, I saw it harmonize perfectly with the offerings at Gather Americana. Local, healthful foods are abundant, and make the experience that much richer -- you know your meal comes from just a few miles down the road, not from another country. Definitely will return.

Went there for dinner and it was a terrible experience. Food took almost two hours to come out and was very disappointing. I could not have had a worse experience,

Went on a Tuesday night. Walked in and was not greeted. Approached the bar and was greeted by a very friendly bartender. While waiting for the rest of our party we enjoyed the spinach artichoke. Very good. The bartender was attentive and knowledgable for only working there for a month. We were promptly seated when ready as there was only one other table of two. The bartender was to be our server too. Placed our order and then waited. And waited. And waited. The meal was delicious but the wait was not. Kudos to the service and quality of food. Thumbs down for the cook time.

After hearing others rave about Gather, I decided to take my daughter and her husband there for her birthday dinner tonight. Big mistake. We had 7pm reservations, were seated immediately and then ,other than the gentleman who brought us water and spilled it all over me , my daughter and the table, we didn't see anyone again for at least 15 min. Our server appeared took our order (we ordered our appetizers and entrees all at once for fear we wouldn't see her again). We waited over 30 min for cold house fries, cold spickles and unseasoned carppacio. The soup was hot, but little soup and mostly onions. Our entrees arrived a full 55 minutes after ordering them. The chicken was so dry it was chewy, the parsnip puree was ice cold. The salmon risotto was dry and the pork chop had an extremely salty sauce. Our server explained this all away due to being short handed. Tell us when we sit down that you are short staffed and the wait might be a bit longer. It would have prepared us for the wait. There is no excuse or the condition of the food. The fact that no one asked if we wanted drinks, apologized for soaking us with water or really seemed to care that our experience was terrible means I probably won't give the place a second shot. Our waitress was apologetic and seemed distraught about the food. Her initial response to our table though was " I didn't know you were there". Sad

My wife and I heard the Gather was good from several friends, and decided to try it out. They have an attractive dining area, and the service was really outstanding. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and really knew the menu. My wife had the shepherd's pie, and I had the ridiculous burger. Both were delicious. One of the best places to eat in Appleton, highly recommended.

Very nice, clean place. The coffee was very good, which was a surprise, since most restaurants in the area serve pretty awful coffee. I ordered the quiche of the day, the taste was good, but what I liked most about it was the texture; it was very light and fluffy. The quiche was served with a side salad that was very fresh. The salad had arugula lettuce and yellow carrots, it was very nice to get a salad that was not made with iceberg lettuce... The salad dressing was also very tasty. The thing that surprised me the most about the restaurant was the fact that after we asked for a spicy sauce the server actually went back to the kitchen to see what the chef could whip up. The server knew the only thing that they had available was tabasco sauce, yet he tried to get us something better to accompany our food. The sauce that the chef prepared was very tasty. Over all a great experience.

Well... What can I say. For a farm to table restaurant I'm impressed by their effort to source local fare with quality fresh ingredients. However, I was slightly disappointed with the plates composition. Mom and I ordered pork carnitas, which although lovely in presentation, lacked in use if the right ingredients (and enough if them)! The carnitas was served on chips vs tortilla (as described), and lacked any tomatillo sauce. The salad was superb - no complaints there, perfect mix of texture and seasonal flavor. Since carnitas lacked a enough juice and toppings to cover the chips, I used excess salad to top it. Tasted good. The final dish, gnocchi, had awesome sauce, and decent presentation, yet lacked real oomph in flavor of the dough pouches. I recommended maybe they revise the recipe. If it's going go be sweet potato, it should be sweet potato dangit. And also light and fluffy like dumplings. The service is fantastic, beer and wine list, excellent. I think they could improve offerings a bit by listening to what food flavors really want. Add offering panfried sausage with that gnocchi! Ready to taste their blueberry handcakes. I'd give them another shot to get it all right ;) (marketing efforts? This company does something most in this area don't by uniquely offering locally sourced sustainable food. Emphasize that! Aside from the waiter telling me so ( and reading it on your website in way over, I would have never known!) Do yourself a favor and post that on the wall inside in a sassy sophisticated way. Flaunt it!)

Great staff, intriguing drink choices at the bar and clean/fresh foods. The ravioli is one of the best I've had.

Great service! Food is decent, pork belly and bruchetta saved the whole experience with our great server. Otherwise it's just ok.

I can't stop talking about this place. Because, I'm telling you, I had one of the best meals of my life here. I'm not from Appleton and I've been to restaurants all over but oh my gosh--5 stars. If you like good food, this is it, people. (Yummy carrot cake too!)

Delicious new American addition to Appleton restaurant scene. 1. Simple, focused menu ensures the dishes are all well executed. Pork belly, hamburger, roasted Brussels sprouts, and fish are all solid. 2. Locally sourced ingredients used where feasible. 3. 24 beers on tap, plus reasonable wine bottles and glasses. Opportunity areas that keep it from the fifth star: 1. Service can be a little rough around the edges. Examples: Greeting seems disorganized, screw top Malbec wine bottle resealed after pouring instead of being left open to breathe, menus left on the table. 2. Space is wide open. You see everyone else who is in the restaurant. A little privacy/intimacy would be nice.

I have visited 4 times and Gather turned out solid performances each visit. New on the scene in Appleton, Gather will give the better restaurants in the area a run for their money. Focusing on local farmers and ingredients the menu offers something for everyone with nightly specials. You must try the crispy chick peas for a small appetizer! They sound ordinary, but are far from it :) Sprinkled with parm and herbs they are very tasty. The mushroom stuffed raviolis are served with truffle oil and filled with a delightful mushroom medley. Strip steak is tender and cooked to perfection (med rare for us!) The kitchen focuses in executing simple and tasty dishes and they succeed.

Brought some out of town VIP's to Gather tonight. From the hand-crafted cocktails , the incredible wine list , the unbeatable Scotch selection, followed by locally-sourced (perfect) duck crepes, to the beautiful main courses, lovingly plated with fresh, local veggies...I could stop therr and give Gather 5 stars. As a person who has 20 years experience in the industry, I give Gather five stars for handling a scheduled , multi-coursed wine dinner, several tables in the dining room and a bar full of eager patrons, all while providing the perfect atmosphere for entertaining. Gather is here to stay...and a supremely welcome addition. I will try breakfast next!

I must say this is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Not a ton of food like most restaurants in the area but just enough good solid portions without having to take home a ton of food that you will forget you had in the fridge. The food it self is perfect in every way beautifully cooked and prepared great presentation and perfect combinations. The servers are amazing offering what foods go well with others and even telling you what they like. Your water is always full and your drinks never get too low. Overall the best restaurant in the area with out any hesitation you MUST try this restaurant!

One of the Best Restaurants in Appleton. I'm sad I didn't know about this place sooner. The Rib-Eye was amazing. The Pork Belly is one of the best things I've ever tasted. Excellent beer selection. Desserts were awesome. I don't like carrot cake, but I wouldn't mind eating a while cake of theirs... :) And last, their service. We had a group of 7 that included 2 children. We experienced 4-5 different waiting staff. They were all excellent. There's nothing bad I can say about this place.

Amazing. Best burger I've ever had. Outstanding salad. Extremely high quality ingredients prepared excellently. I've been to Gather 3 times now and all 3 have been outstanding. Tonight I brought my parents, my dad is a "simple" eater (versus me, a full on foodie) and he said it was one of the best meals he's had. Even better, the pricing is really reasonable for the quality. If you don't drink you can have an excellent meal for under $20. I adore this restaurant. It is now the best thing happening in Appleton in the food world. The burger is to die for. Seriously. Order it. The ravioli is yummy. The house salad is fresh and delicious. The pork belly is tasty. The desserts are homemade and great. Cheese curds are really fresh and not greasy. Everything I've had has been outstanding.
