This was our first and more than likely last trip here. We were greeted and ready to pay, but to our surprise we were told that we pay after we eat. For a Saturday evening they were no very busy, but most of the buffet items were nearly empty. After filling our plates with what we could, we found out the food wasn't very warm. The signs above the items are hand written, faded and sometimes non existant. We were never asked about a refill on our sodas, but other "waiters" tables continued to get their waters filled on a regular basis. Which was enjoyable to watch because when they did so, they did it so carelessly that the water went all over the floor. The employees seem to be going through the motions. I found it odd that silverware was being rolled at one of the front tables, to be seen right as you walk in. For the 2 of us, with sodas it was $27. Unsure if this is a set price or they keep track of the number of plates due to paying after you eat. It just seemed a bit high priced compared to other restaurants like this

I would rather gnaw on a stranger's musty, open-toed sandal than return here.

The food was super greasy. They never came back to offer a refill. The person behind the cashier was really rude after a couple of swipes from our card. Maybe the last time i will go there

I love this place. Have been coming here for years. They have a large selection of food to pick from and everything is always very good. I especially like their in house Mongolian BBQ. Best to come to here on the weekends, they put the best food out on the weekend.

The location is easily accessible and price wasn't horrible. It was $10 - $12 per person on the weekend. I came here on a Sunday as all the other Asian restaurants in town were closed; trust me I looked and traveled to every other place. Anyhow, our party of four was greeted with a simple "Welcome, come sit". The host directed us toward the back of the building. Toward the front was seated with what looked like the owner's immediate family. An older couple was eating, caring for small children, and older kids were playing around the area. It looked like they had blankets and were sleeping around that area on the floor. There's a wide variety of food. Sushi and iced shrimp were dry and bland. Typical Chinese buffet food. There were nothing that stood out. I was hungry for Asian food so I can't complain. I should have went to the Mall, which was a hop and skip away, to eat there instead. Good experience but I won't return.

Today was third time I ate at Asian Garden Buffet in the last three months. In general, the food is pretty good: Good variety, something for anyone's liking, plenty of food. Price is reasonable. HOWEVER, everyone wants to know the dark side as well. So, it's not too dark, but there is definitely room for improvement. To wit: Public restrooms are tacky and not very clean, which I always consider a reflection upon management and staff standards of overall cleanliness of the restaurant. In other words, if public areas are not scrupulously clean, then what pray tell do the hidden-from-sight kitchen and food storage areas look like? Some of the food was cold today, and a piece of chicken on a skewer was not fully cooked. An order for hot tea results in a pot with only two tea bags hanging in it. Very weak tea. The waitresses are accommodating when asked for something, but there is little to no politeness, sometimes with a waitress tossing a requested item onto the table and turning her back to stroll away quickly. So these are really minor things ... I didn't have to eat the near raw chicken, and I'm not there to be chummy with staff. I'm there to eat. And there is plenty of good food to eat. I will return within a month but would like to see a more attentive, more polite staff and a much cleaner rest room area to build my strained confidence in the overall attentiveness to proper sanitation of the food handling areas. After I left, my drive around the building resulted in spotting a lot of debris and trash laying around and rusty, dingy looking metal doors half open at kitchen area, and a general feeling that the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and appearances do not take top priority here. Hopefully that will change. Despite all this, I do enjoy the food -- and I am going back.

I went to the Asian Garden Buffet 45 minutes before closing with a party of five. The staff was sitting in one of the many cafeteria-like tables (the place is pretty big) eating food and gave us a really surprised look. After double-checking that the place was, in fact, open, we were seated. I am certainly not one to eat seafood that has been sitting out in a buffet for who knows how long. I noticed right away that half of the sizable buffet was already shut down for the evening. Luckily, the staff was very accommodating! The hostess repeatedly asked, "What do you want?" and told us, "We will make anything you want. Just let us know." We took her up on the offers of freshly made food because the remaining buffet options were pretty limited. She made us an entire plate of salmon sushi, mixed vegetables, crab rangoon, shrimp with rice noodles, some meat dishes for my companions (I don't eat meat, so I don't remember exactly), and sesame balls for dessert. The salmon was room temperature, but still tasted pretty decent. The vegetables were good, and the crab rangoon was great, though I have nothing to compare it to because that was the first time I ever had the tasty cream-cheese-filled treats. But my favorite thing by far were the sesame balls. They were so good that they deserve their own paragraph. They were warm and crispy on the outside, and so soft and delicious with the red bean center. The staff brought us an entire tray and we fought over the last few balls! My mouth is watering thinking of them. My review is a pretty special circumstance because I got to eat food that was freshly made just for us, with a guarantee of not sitting out there vulnerable to flies or stray hairs from customers. So, I can't speak for how this buffet's food is during the regular day when it has been sitting out for a while, BUT I can speak for delicious food when it's fresh and very attentive, friendly service.

My sister and I have been here several times before. They people that work are are pretty nice and provide good service. The do have a variety of food choices but a lot of times we do go, the food is running low and dry. Its not like I'm going 30 minutes before closing, so I find that a bit bothersome. It is an all you can eat buffet but sometimes I go with eating just 2 plates with small portions because of it. But when their is a lot of food and its not dry, its very good. They also have a section where you can make your own noodle dish by putting the topping and what not of your choice. Then a chef cooks it for you. I've never done it before but my mom always does and I think its pretty cool. I usually go around dinner time which around $9-10. The place is big enough and clean.

Dude--how the hell do they cook all this????!!!!! Frog legs. Crab puffs. Curried shrimp. Mussels in a cheese sauce. Cold Mussels. Noodles. Stuffed mushrooms. Broccoli chicken. Egg rolls. Vegetable chow mein. Dim sum. Sushi. Teriyaki Chicken. Bao Tse. French fries. Onion Rings. Fried shrimp. Barbecued chicken. Salad. Soup. Cake. Lychee. GUMMI BEARS! Ice Cream. This is just what I can remember!!! This thing went on for like four city blocks! We were up in Appleton visiting some friends and this was the only place they could think of that wasn't fast food. Normally I don't tempt fate with Chinese buffets--especially here in Illinois. But this place was a freakin blast! I couldn't believe they had fried frogs legs. Ever since Manzo's on Irving Park took them off their menu I cant get them anywhere. I would go back just for that, but, the food! Mein Gott in Himmel...the FOOD! Rows and rows and rows of it. And it's not like it was sitting, drying out under heat lamps. That stuff was movin', sister! They kept running out of things and had to keep refilling it. I don't know how the hell they kept up. It was like some crazed Asian-themed Bacchanalian feast! You have an experience like this and you realize how completely blessed we are in this country. That can you can go to some place like this and eat like a king for a couple of bucks. And there are people starving in other places trying to figure out how to eat. It makes you grateful, humble and appreciative. And that realization alone is worth five stars. PS: The other review of this place is incorrect. Sushi is very much included.

My husband and I have visited the Asian Garden buffet many times. Our meals this evening didn't disappoint. I am trying to cut down on carbs; there was a plentiful selection. After my tasty hot & sour soup, I sampled the salmon and whitefish which were delicious. I also had a little barbecued pork, teriyaki chicken, and beef with mushrooms. They also have a great veggie vinaigrette salad, and pickled mushrooms. The mushrooms were an interesting blend of sweet, hot and spicy. I indulged in some honeydew melon and fresh pineapple for desert. They also have a nice sushi selection, fresh peel & eat shrimp, Jello jigglers, cookies, ice cream, etc. They have a Mongolian grill in the corner that has a nice selection. There are many other salad and appetizer selections, rice, fried rice, chicken egg drop soup, lo mein, egg rolls, crab rangoon, too many to mention here. All for a mere $12.50 per person! Try it, you'll like it! They have a dish for every taste and diet.

Huge selection. Food was awesome! Our server was great at keeping our drinks refilled. My oldest son complained that his food wasn't hot, but mine was. The food on the buffets were steaming. It's been many years since I've been here, but I will go again!

I don't normally like buffets, but I decided to give Asian Garden a whirl following several positive reviews. First off, the buffet is amazingly cheap, but the food is good. They have everything from limited sushi rolls to dim sum and just about any Asian dish you would ever want. It's not earth shattering by any means but if your looking for a quick lunch or dinner and are the type who always finds it difficult to make a decision, try it. I believe lunch was just under eight dollars, dinner was just under ten. Service was as good as you would expect for a buffet. The buffet was constantly refreshed and it has six or seven sections which is very large.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
