My group ate here on a Sat night which is mexi-fiesta night. The food is very simple and basic, seemed to be directly out of a can, however, i was perfectly happy with what i was served. Server was not highly experienced but very courteous and very prompt. The staff didn't miss a thong and ended up being very efficient. The dining room is a very simple country decor. Parking is abundant, prices are reasonable.

Drove up from Appleton to visit friends and had lunch here...the brisket. OMG. The brisket. So stinkin good. I had it with fries instead of the potato salad it usually comes with, and the fries were crispy and good, not greasy. The BBQ sauce is nice and sweet without being overpowering. Also...prices are reasonable! The two of us had a delicious lunch for less than $20.

We had breakfast there and it very good, the wait was not long at all and the waitstaff and owner are nice, would recommend this place to anyone. I wish they'd have more of a variety but it's a very very good place to eat

My husband and I stopped in for dinner not really expecting much... but we were pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing, and our waitress, Lindsey, was great! No complaints here. :) I ordered a cheeseburger with fries, and my husband ordered the beef brisket which came with a side salad, bread basket, mashed potatoes, and green beans. For dessert, we had Better than Sex cake, and while I won't go as far as saying it satisfied me as much as my husband, it was pretty damn good! If we're ever in Algoma again, we'll definitely be coming back.

I came here for lunch to try the BBQ brisket sandwich special. I saw this on the menu when I was here for breakfast and knew that I had to have it. I was impressed with the tenderness of the brisket. It was obvious that they chose a quality meat to start with. Brisket is not something that is hurried. This was smoked and cooked slowly. If it would not have been the sandwich would have been tough and chewy. The BBQ sauce had a nice flavor. It was sweet, but not over powering. There was no vinegar taste you sometimes get from BBQ sauces. The meat was served on a freshly baked croissant. The croissant was light and flaky. I had a side of potato salad with it. The potato salad is made from a family recipe. It was not swimming in mayonnaise like some I've had. This one contained a lot more than potatoes. There were other vegetables copped and added in giving this potato salad a nice texture and flavor. I also sampled a piece of their apple strudel cheesecake. This was a real treat. It was a strudel topped with apples, cinnamon and caramel on a cheesecake base. If nothing else, this alone is worth a trip to Southern Comfort Restaurant. The restaurant is only open until 2pm for another couple weeks. In May the hours are extended to 9pm and they will be serving dinner. I will be in then to try some of the dinner specials. The menu items are consistent with the southern home style cooking the restaurant is named for. They are working on an official web page which I will post a link to once it is available.

I ordered the fried chicken dinner, waited nearly an hour, took two bites and had the server throw it out. Now I have experienced some disappointing meals before, but never once was I unable to eat it and thrown it out. It was the worst friend chicken I've ever had. The batter was way to thick and had no flavor. The chicken was so incredibly dry and overcooked, that when I took a bite, it was like eating powder. The mashed potatoes had no flavor and the corn on the cob was extremely mushy. Very disappointing.
