We go to Philly Bilmo's on occasion. It is a small little restaurant nestled in a strip mall along with Big Lots! and New Seasons. The interior is acceptably clean but not much to look at. The dining area has a bit of an odd layout, but it is after all, in a strip mall. You can see the kitchen right there behind the counter where you order. We have had various Cheese steaks, and they are all delicious. Their rolls are imported from Philadelphia, so they claim and are quit spectacular. We have also sampled their fries and cheese fries, they are quite generous with their servings of fries. One order feeds both my wife and I. If you are looking for ambiance or decor, you wont find it here. If you're looking for an awesome cheesesteak, this is your place. Well worth the trip. Until the next ride and dine...

I'm so glad I went back to this place. I had an outstanding pepper/mushroom cheesesteak there last weekend -- it was stuffed, and gooey and full of flavor. Just like the cheesesteaks back East. The fries were freshly made. So maybe the first time I just got a bad cook. My apologies to the owners for the bad first review. (Note to self: give a restaurant at least two visits before you slam it.) Now I'll have to find reasons to go to southeast Vancouver.

I have zero allegiance to this joint, so my review is honest. Ordered the 8" Loaded steak philly, $8.25. Loaded means besides steak and cheese it also comes with peppers, both bell and banana, and mushrooms. If you don't want both order the regular and pay $.50 to add either. The sandwich comes with white american cheese but I opted for mozzarella. I found the sandwich to be very flavorful. Unlike other customer reviews I did not find the meat and veggies finely chopped. I found them the perfect texture and size. The sandwich was flavorful and no complaints here. As for being pricey, Subway charges $10 for a footlong philly, so $7-$8 for 8" or $14-$15 for 16" seems reasonable for freshly made. I also ordered a small chili cheese fries. $1.50 plus $.75 each for chili and cheese. Their small is other joints large. More than enough for the money. They put the cheese whiz on which tasted good. My only complaint is the dish was a little salty, but that is because they salt the hot fries before adding the chili and cheese. Next time I'll ask for unsalted fries. Overall good food and an enjoyable experience.

Super tasty Philly cheese steaks! My husband and I love a good meaty meal after tackling a long hike. This place fulfills that craving. The lunch combo is $8 and includes a cheese steak sandwich, fries or potato chips and a soda/bottled water. Great value for delicious food hot off the grill plus happy staff = I'm a definite fan.

I typically only come here every few months for a really good Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. But every time I have one, I swear it just gets better and better. The servings are a little large, even a half sandwich could fill you for the rest of the day. The venue isn't great, but it's not bland. Alas I come here for the sandwich and I could car less about decor. Everything is well prepared and carefully cooked, everyone I have referred here has been impressed. Up until I found this location I have been disappointed in any cheesesteak sandwich I've had. Either they are to dry, meat is dry, bland or over loaded with grease. Philly Bilmos is none of that, its a great cheesesteak sandwich, prepared to perfection. Simply put it's worth the trip and you will not be disappointed.

Probably the longest wait, I've ever imagined food good or not this place would go under in Philadelphia or new York. Pretty agitated.

Yes! Finally! There is a great cheesesteak in the Greater Portland Metro Area. I've been milling around sampling Cheesesteaks in this area for the past few years. I have had several good sandwiches but nothing close to the borderline perfect example here. Sure it's a drive for me, and anyone from Portland "Proper", but I had this excited feeling i the pit of my stomach the whole ride there. You know that feeling.... Like a kid knowing that they were on the way to the Amusement park. Yep... that one. It figures its at a place that serves Boars Head Products. I had just a regular Cheesesteak. The cheese and grease took on the form of a delicious gravy like consistency. It was fantastic. Tender steak, amoroso rolls, onions were cooked down perfectly. A solid, well executed cheesesteak, which is hard to find around this region. Also sampled the Hot Pastrami which was exceptional but just slightly on the salty side. Even for a Pastrami Sandwich, I make the same one at home with Boars Head Meats. Friendly and prompt service!! If you are waiting to try this place ....don't wait....run out the door and jump in your car right now!!!! Planning my next trip.

My husband went to this place when he was in training in Vancouver and we will be making more trips up there just to come here! We got mozzarella sticks to share and each got a cheesesteak. the mozzarella sticks were the best mozzarella sticks I have ever had. I would eat those every single day! I had a cheesesteak with mushrooms and it was amazing. I am not used to the cheese being melted into the meat but it was really good that way. The bread is really soft and perfect or the cheesesteak and the steak itself is really amazing. We want to come back and try more thei offerings becasue I am sure everything is really good!

Really - people like this place? I'm being generous with 3 stars. This is a mediocre Philly and rather pricey for what you get. They claim to use premium ingredients, but if they aren't prepared correctly, you just get a mediocre sandwhich at best. It's a shame - there's room for this type of establishment in the Couve.

It's with great disappointment that after 3 years of awesome cheesesteaks I am motivated to update my review and reduce my rating from 5 stars to 2. Jonna B. and I recently visited Philly Bilmos for two 16" traditional cheesesteaks -- frizzled beef, onions and melted white American cheese on an Amoroso roll. We arrived at 11 a.m. on a weekday after having anxiously traveled approximately 32 miles from our home in Oregon. I watched in disbelief as the owner tossed two obviously stale, hard Amoroso rolls into the oven to reheat. The resulting sandwiches had a flat crumb and a cracked, dry exterior. We paid over $25.00, that's unacceptable at any price. I surely will not go out of my way to return. P.S. As of this writing, I was the Duke with 6 check-ins...such irony.

HELLO! Way happy about my visit to Mike's place PB's tonight. After watching a PBS show about 'Best Sandwiches' around the country I was craving east coast tradiiton. This is as close as you are getting here in the NW. Taste Buds...alert and plotting our next vist! Seriously fresh Cannoli's too! Cheers

I've been enjoying Mike's sandwiches since 2001 and I'm just now getting around to writing a review - sheesh. I have to admit I've been pretty monogamous when it comes to my menu selection, but I have had the cheese steak in all its configurations (hot & sweet peppers, loaded or not). It's fantastic. There are two distinct modes of enjoyment for this particular item - dining in and take away. If you eat it immediately, all the flavors blend together with a more pronounced cheese taste. If you take it to go and eat it later (as we often have to do - they're huge) the mushroom flavor stands out a bit more. Tip: Have a bottle of IBC with your sandwich.

Delicious sandwiches. Takes a little long to get the sandwiches out but they make them from scratch in front of you, so the wait is worth it. Staff is friendly. Portions are big. I like the loaded chicken bilmo.

This is a Man's man sandwich shop. Great cheesesteak sandwiches and good service. Don't come here expecting to be fluffed by someone about every little topping. You'll get what's on the menu and you'll like it or about half the customers will whoop you when you leave the place! Seriously though, this is your very basic deli that serves high quality food that'll fill you up. Don't give the price a second thought, this is good food you'll be glad you ponied up the dough for!

Stoppped in with my son and split a whole loaded with fries. As in the past, I cannot say enough about how good the food is here, especially considering how lame most of the fare is in Vancouver. I will continue to spread the word because if one knows the difference, this place is the place to go.

Ah! Philly Bilmo I have a long relationship with this place. I have been going there since he opened at his old location off Burton. Sometimes, I wax nostalgically for that old location, because few people knew about him back then, and it was quite cozy. However, success for Mike is what I desire more, and his "new" location is better for bringing in more folks. Lot's of places have issues when they expand to a larger store. They tend to lose their edge. Philly Bilmo has not. In fact when he opened the new location he got a fryer! Now, I could have fries with my Philly. However, being that I so long opted for a salad with the steak. I have continued on with that even with the fries available. I have pretty much had his cheese steaks for as long as I have been going there. I think I had hot dog once like 5 years ago. That pretty much says how I feel about his cheese steaks. Philly Bilmo uses the Amoroso rolls for their steaks. You may think that it's no big deal using another brand of sub roll for a Cheese Steak, certainly making a savings in food costs, as Amoroso rolls are going to add to the overall food cost significantly. This is a difference that shows Mike goes that extra bit to ensure that his steaks taste as close to something you would buy in Philadelphia, even at the expense of profit margin on his food. Okay, enough praise on the Steaks, here is the closer. They are the best to be had in the Portland metro area. Philly Bilmo also has a number of pasta items available for evenings and specifically for take out. The baked Ziti is of special note. A number of folks I know are huge fans of this dish. There is only one Philly Bilmo, this is not a chain, and Mike the Owner is usually there, and making your steak. He has always told me about how much he wanted to open a pizza place instead of Philly Bilmo. I am glad that he couldn't get a hold of a reasonable priced pizza oven way back when, and went with the cheese steak back up plan. Then again, this is a guy with some pretty good skills and his pizza would likely be of some note. Maybe if you all go there and buy tons of steaks from Mike he could open his pizza place up as well.

I always look forward to going to Philly Bilmos when I am in Vancouver. There is a ton of different sandwiches to choose from. Really good bread for one. Easily the best chicken parm I have had in the Northwest. They have this roasted pork sandwich that is on garlic bread, it's crazy good. The cheese steaks are proper. Philly is in their name for a reason!! Really well done pastas, fries, dogs the works. A gem in the middle of suburban madness, Vancouver is lucky to have you!!

Simply the best sandwich shop around. Totally takes me back to Long Island and New York. The staff is fin and friendly. Be sure and tell them Bruce sent you. My favorites include: Chicken parm Chicken salad Cheesesteaks The Italian Sausage and peppers The French fries are also outstanding. Go there now!!!

I went during lunch time. Supposed to be their claim to fame. It was packed, the staff was frazzled, and it took about 10 minutes to order and about another 30 for food. And this was supposed to be for lunch? The Philly Cheese steaks weren't that great. Reminded me of wet Salisbury Steak from a lunch room in elementary school. I won't be going back. Wasn't impressed at all.

Subs are great; would get 5 stars if the fries were a little thicker. I can never resist the cheese fries but they are a little too thin to serve as a proper vehicle for the cheese sauce.

I was perplexed to see a large picture of Shea Stadium (NY Mets), and then a picture of the Phillies. I know this is an east coast joint, but the METS and Phillies are arch rivals. As a hapless MET fan I was surprised and excited to see NY memorabilia, but only to be shocked to see it in contrast to those Phillies. I expected to see some philly memorabilia. Other than the double take I was enthralled by the wide selection of sandwiches. I went for the classic, the cheese steak, no frills no extras. It was good. It was mouthwatering, and for the extra buck fifty I got a soda and some pretty decent fries (Lunch special). I also picked up an order of those tasty cake cupcakes, which I never got to try but were devoured by others who seemed to give their approval by lack of talk , just chomping of teeth on the product. The sandwich was great, and I will return.

Days after my review I received the following message from Kerri B. of Philly Bilmos: "Yep most people love our cheesesteaks, if they don't eat beef they choose chicken. While I have no problem with your review, that is what makes Yelp great, at least add that you ordered something not from our menu. We do not offer a Veggie cheeseteak, plain and simple. You chose to order a cheesesteak (no meat)". While I ordered something "not from the menu" they still used all the ingredients they would use in their menu offerings (mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes, provolone, bread) just without meat. I have never had a bad experience going this route before, for example: The Super Burrito at El Rancho Viejo with no meat, In-N-Out burgers with no meat (code name "Grilled Cheese")...In the cheesesteak category, the veggie option from the Cheese Steak Shop in Berkeley. I've reviewed and raved about these items. It is my firm belief that ingredients themselves should stand the test, and that meat alone does not a 5 star make, cheesesteak shop or no. Sorry Bilmos.....I stand by my two stars. Don't worry though....us veggie lovers just don't get it do we?

Chili cheese dog...gross they use cheese sauce instead of real cheese and the skin on the hot dog is so rough to bite into it is like eating a sausage :(. Chili cheese fries just as gross but at least more edible than the chili dog. The chili also tastes like it came out of a can just like the cheese. :(

The real deal for true Philly Cheese Steak. Truly authentic "Cheese Wiz Wit" just like you were eating at Pat's in Philly. It's not on the menu so ask for it specifically.

My BFF decided that we needed to eat here as she loves their food. I will say that I am rather upset with her!!! WHY on earth did it take her SO long to introduce me to this place!!!! Their Philly sandwiches are amazing, and the fries are very good! Not your normal fast food joint! Not to mention their phyilly sandwiches are 8 inches long and that my friends is the shortest one! Made with pure goodness!

Was quite pleased when I drove by the burton location and it was closed. But quite disappointed when I found out it was just relocated. With a mediocre sandwich and the douche owner serving it, made for a wonderful experience. When a customer comes in and orders a sandwich they do not expect to have the owner give their food to a different customer that comes in ten minutes after them and orders the same thing just because they are a regular. It was amazing waiting a half hour for a damn overpriced sandwich. Calling the owner out on being a douche put a smile on my unsatisfied face.

Highlights: I got the loaded 'Philly' and the hot dog. The Philly is pretty killer. Beefy, juicy, nice flavor. Honestly, I almost wanted more mushrooms, cheese - less beef. It was pretty rockin' though. I think they definitely have everyone in the 'Couv covered on this one. Lowlights: Hot dog? Seemed like a throw in. They have these killer rolls for the Phillys, then the cheap teeny Franz buns on the dog. What gives? Decor: really not that inviting. It's all a deep blue everywhere. You can also see into the kitchen too easily. A little pricey: my 8 inch 'Loaded' Philly and a can of 12 oz. soda: $9.25 including tax. Service: matter of fact. Tried a couple times to have a conversation - got shut down. Bottom Line: Best 'Phillys' in the 'Couve. P.S. The vegan review on a Philly joint? There ought a be a law!

I've never been to the East coast so I can't say how this compares to the way they make a traditional Philly Cheese-steak but I can say it was pretty good. If you have ever eaten at Steak Escape then you have already had a similar sandwich; As a matter of fact, the Cheese-steak sandwiches at Billmos are nearly identical to the sandwiches at Steak Escape. I can't say I'm wild about having the meat and veggies chopped up so finely that it becomes a whisper away from seeming like ground beef but, again, maybe that is how they are supposed to be. The sandwiches were large and tasty and seemed to be made with decent quality fresh ingredients. We also tried a cold deli sandwich and it was excellent. I would probably make a special trip to this eatery the next time I'm in the mood for a good cold sandwich. The only real criticism I would have about the food is that the fries resemble the generic frozen variety that you used to find at lower quality fast food chains. Now there are 2 reasons that I couldn't quite give the place a 4 star rating (although had 3 &1/2 been an option I would have chosen that); First I think that it is slightly overpriced for what it is; Not terribly so but still somewhat overpriced; We got a large sandwich, a small one and an order of fries and it came to $26 PLUS tax. Plus they have a little chicken$h!t move they do where they ask you "what kind of peppers" you want on your sandwich and then CHARGE you extra FOR peppers...not that I would have minded paying extra for peppers but, like I said, it's still a chicken$h!t little move. Secondly the fries, as I already mentioned, are not on par with the quality of the sandwiches. Next time I will definitely get chips. All in all, both the hot and cold sandwiches that we tried were very good. If you liked Steak Escape when it was still around (are they still around?) you will definitely enjoy this new addition to the Vancouver area. UPDATE: Go ahead and get ready to pelt me with rocks and garbage; While I did enjoy the food and will probably go back I was very curious (and suspicious) about the reviewers who said things along the lines of "I'm from Philly and these are the best I've had!" so I decided to look for videos about how they make Cheese Steaks in Philly; Well lo and behold; I found several INCLUDING some about the two most famous Philly Cheese Steak joints, Geno's and Pat's (as well as others). Imagine my astonishment when I saw that NOT ONE of the joints in the videos I found chop their meat up to smithereens like Bilmo's does. So are the reviewers that claim to be from that part of the country really just customers or are they folks who work for the company? I'm not making any accusations, I'm just sayin'...

Came here for lunch before the mad, mad, rush. The woman at the register was very friendly and bubbly. I tend to ask the most lame, annoying questions in my goal of not eating anything I don't like...such as, "Are there mushrooms on that?" Most people get annoyed by this because they assume you should just be looking at the menu. However, the gal was happy to help me. As far as the sandwich, it was great! I got a regular size loaded cheese steak and it was pretty damn flavorful. I like to think I'd come here more often if I didn't think it would give me a heart attack after a few times. Definitely check it out if you can!

I think they have the best Philly Cheesesteaks outside of Philly. Can't wait to go back. Great food and friendly folks.

My husband and were here today for lunch. We both had the pizza cheese steak and lg fries. I am digging these sandwiches!! So very good. Their bread is ridiculously good also. Their fries are crispy and totally yummy! Like others said girl that took our order was very nice! Looking forward to going back to try something else ...lol

I've had the Italian sub and the traditional cheese steak from Philly Bilmos. Both were good. I am in no way an expert on the philly style cheese steak so I can't make any comparisons, but I can say this seems like a quality place to get a sandwich. The staff was friendly and there were already 5 or 6 guys waiting for their cheese steak when I got there at 11:20. That has to be a good sign. Also, they serve Boars Head so I'm a happy girl. As a side note, I was a little worried about getting a cheese steak at first because I worried the onions would be too much. I have to say that I barely even noticed them. Not sure if that's good or bad for all of you traditionalists, but that was my observation.

Was working near here and stopped in for lunch. I love phillys, and this place was better than expected!

  • Seema F.

Finally, a real cheesesteak and hoagie! They use Amoroso rolls and Boar's Head deli meat, which are the preferred materials for any East Coaster or Philadelphian like myself. And it's one of the few places I've seen that has pepper shooters. The Italian Hoagie was perfect, and extra banana peppers are cheerfully available upon request. The cheesesteak was great, but why is there no (cheez) 'whiz' option for that traditional Philly flare?

    (4)
  • Jennifer P.

The girl running the register was fun and nice. The cheesesteaks were tasty (we ordered easy on the cheese and they were very good. The 8" is more than enough for the average person; I might even ask them to go easy on the meat next time. All was good except for the price: two 8" and a small order of fries for $20 + tip. That's more than a dollar an inch! I'm sure they have their reasons and everything, but it will probably be quite some time till we return.

  • Nick R.

Best in the NW! Sauces and dressings made from scratch. Boar's head brand meats. Delicious bread. Just can't be beat. I have never found a better cheesesteak. Ignore what anyone says about the price, you're getting quality, filling food for your money here. I'd recommend the traditional cheesesteak, the chicken parm, and finally the chicken bilmo. Don't forget some chili cheese fries, a side salad with house dressing, or some tasty-cakes for dessert!

Best Philly cheesesteaks in the area. Great service too! Love their cheese fries and subs too.

Great food. Quality ingredients. Loved the cheesesteak and chili cheese fries. The ham and cheese hoagie was great as well. Generous with the meat. Staff was very friendly. Busy little place. Not allot of seating. Not the cheapest but the quality makes it a value.

I would have loved to give four stars... Here's my reasoning. I'm doing a home remodel here in Vancouver. Been up here for about a month and have been here four times all together. The food is okay. It's not amazing, but still good. Normally there is a really friendly girl working the front. This time a surly type of character with attitude was running the front. My coworker got a Philly and loaded. I got the pizza philly with steak and chicken. The guy refused to put the two meats together in an eight inch. So my coworker ordered according to this "guy".. I'm beyond upset because of this. He said it had to be a sixteen inches why?? I think to rip me off. The sandwiches weren't packed full. They were actually skimpy as all get out.. This last experience rubbed me wrong as... I will not come back and won't encourage anyone to go there. And if you do, if there's a sweet black girl behind the counter your good. If some guy helps you that looks surly and like a back of the house type then you should go elsewhere. If that guy was the owner then wow... should stay home. If he was an employee then he's not good for business. So there ya go. We spend over thirty dollars every time we go and get service like this? It's about appalling.

The BEST SANDWICHES around! I'll never eat Subway or Quiznos again! OMG you've gotta try this place! Traditional Philly Cheese is to die for! Great service every time!

I've never been to Philly so I can't compare, but I can say every sandwich I've had here has been very good. My fav is the Italian. Full of yummy ingredients. Service can be a bit slow, but worth the wait.

I've only left a tip for quite a few months. Let me just say this is the best damn sub shop in Vancouver and possibly Portland. Their cheese steaks are unbeatable. Yesterday I finally tried a different sub after reluctantly passing on the Philly cheese. I got the Italian ...best Italian period!!!!!!! Can you say boars head meats? Un believable ! Jimmy who is all I'm saying.

I came here with my boyfriend in the early afternoon. Living in Pennsylvania, I have a pretty high standard for Philly steaks, but I was actually impressed. It was definitely a solid cheesesteak for Washington State. The steak, cheese, and onions were awesome, and I enjoyed every bite. They use amoroso rolls, which is the perfect bread for a cheesesteak, because you need something soft enough to get the right texture, but sturdy enough that it won't get soggy under all that steak and cheese. Everyone was really friendly, but the service was a little slow. Nonetheless, I would recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious food, quick and friendly service! Try the Chicken Parmesan (sandwich or pasta), hot dogs, or of course one of their Philly cheese steaks. Highly recommend this place!!

For a girl that lives in Philly for years this is the best cheesesteak I've found out here so far. Be sure to order Whiz Wit! The bread is authentic to what you'll find in Philly and the steak was juicy. I'll go back! Even though they don't have Tastykakes anymore.

"Pop a top, again, I've just got time for one more round, Set 'em up, my friend, Then I'll be gone and you can let some other fool sit down...." --- Jim "Ed" Brown Ok, these are 16" of devilishiciously good sammiches, including their pastrami, the eggplant parmasean , and of course, the signature cheesy chicken and/or steak-wiches. They are plenty generous w/the cheese and meat and whatever other options you may request. If you're really bold--and hungry---and crazy-- order their "loaded" version, power even half of one of those down, then see if you can waddle out the door on your own volition. Philly Bilmo is tucked away in an enormous, otherwise non-descript strip mall in the seemingly never-ending series of strip malls adorning East Vancouver. You pay through the nose for their wares (large subs average in the $16 range). Bilmo also does not deliver (advantage: Jimmy John's), but these are the only counts I can think of that keep them from absolute perfection. They could also stay open much later, but I realize that isn't always a feasible business practice, to cater to such a small but vocal minority of ones repeat customers. Another word about the aforementioned premium prices this is one time you get what you pay for, and then some, and most people, I presume, would be hard pressed to find much fault here. Most people, afterall, would have a substantial amount of fabulous left-overs to look forward to, in days and weeks subsequent to their mystical sojourn to SE 164th. Unlike JJ's or Subways or Quiznos or newcomers to the NW Jersey Mike's, or pretty near any other sandwich chain I can reckon, at Philly Bilmos you can have a seat and tip back some cold ones. Hot philly cheesesteak (loaded) and cold beers make a mighty fine way to kick back and watch a ball game. Or order some to go and bring 'em by your place of employ. You'll be the most popular person in the office (at least for the day), and you'll have people bugging you for weeks afterward, "Say, where DID you get them sandwiches, they were AWESOME!" Go ahead, Pop a top and grab some Bilmos, there'll be a little more room at the bar in just a minute here, as soon as I can gather the compunction to clear the scene. Stay thirsty, my friends...

I gave up on finding a good cheesesteak sandwich in Washington. Once you've had the real deal back east, it's hard to find anything that comes close. Then some friends introduced me to Philly Bilmos last week.... SO GOOOOOOD! Do yourself a favor and try this place. Yummy!

My wife and I eat a sandwich from here probably every two weeks. The cheesesteaks are awesome, and the Italian sandwich is just as tantalizing to the taste buds. The fries are so good that we sometimes order just those to go with a different meal we are having. Great food with equally friendly staff!

East Vancouver is the land of mediocre chain restaurants. Despite this fact you will find THE BEST FOOD at Philly Bilmos. They are a no frills restaurant that focuses on delighting customers taste buds with the most delicious cheese steaks. Caution, this place will ruin all other cheese steaks you will have at other establishments.

Plain and simple, I love cheesesteaks. I consider it among my top three foods on which I lose all sense of willpower. I read so many reviews from people that are either from Philly or have gone there, all exclaiming how authentic this place really is. Considering Philly Bilmos gets a fresh shipment of Amoroso rolls each week, you really can't get much more authentic than that. Sandwiches are either 8 inches or 16 inches. But while the Amoroso rolls are the great foundation of a cheesesteak joint, Philly Bilmos runs the gamut of mouth-watering options. Aside from the traditional and "loaded" options, you'll find numerous hot subs (i.e., meatball subs, roast pork, chicken parmesan, etc.); cold subs (Italian, homemade chicken salad, Genoa salami and provolone, etc.); and pastas (baked ziti, chicken parmesan, linguine, etc.). They even roll in various Tastykake products. Regarding those cheesesteaks and subs, there's roughly six ounces of meat in the 8" sub, 12 oz. in the 16" version. It's $4 more for 6 oz. of additional steak. The Roast Pork sandwich ($7.25 for 8") comes on their garlic bread. Yup, an Amoroso garlic bread. Holy kickassballs. Yeah, I made up a word and I love it. Brown mustard or sweet BBQ sauce? Add both! Onions? Damn straight. This was flat out one of the best roast pork sandwiches I've ever had. Amazing juicy, flavorful pork that had been sliced ultra-thin, saturated with added meaty juices the pork produced. The mild provolone melted wonderfully. I'm a huge fan of the sweet-tangy brown mustard-BBQ sauce combo. Even after all that, the Amoroso roll held strong and seemed to bask in some porky juice love. The Steamed Pastrami and Swiss ($7.95 for 8") is another huge winner with brown mustard, pickles, and sauerkraut. One of my friends (a huge pastrami fan) also had this and instantly fell in love with his sandwich. The juicy pastrami is sliced extremely thin, just falling apart in your mouth. Last, but not least, the Loaded Cheesesteak ($8.25 for 8") was among the best I've ever had. Soft Amoroso bread, ultra-thin slices of steak, gooey cheese, mushrooms, and peppers. Woulda likely powered through two whole ones (32 inches) just because it's that good. Bad panda, no willpower.... The chili-cheese fries have thin, slightly crispy potatoes; perfectly fried up here. All-meat homemade chili has small ground beef chunks and is a bit on the runny side, making it the perfect condiment for fries and hot dogs. The cheese is basically the thick Cheez Whiz (not Kraft, but still real cheese). And damn, these were incredible chili-cheese fries. Dangerously addicting. The bold flavors from the chili just make this one pop. I saw a large jug of their stuffed pickled cherry peppers ($1.35), each with prosciutto and aged provolone inside. Probably marinated in vinegar. I ate one, and I enjoyed the tangy crunch of the pepper. Not spicy at all. Feels like the ratio could be more balanced with more prosciutto. It's a fairly thick cube of cheese in there. While I've been to several cheesesteak spots in the Pacific NW, there are two aspects that make this an elite place. First is their homemade mango honey habanero hot sauce -- and you can take home one of their 5 oz. bottles for $5. A bit of sweetness from the mango and honey, with the spicy aspects of the habanero shining through. Delicious. I slathered it all over my loaded cheesesteak for pure spicy panda bliss. The owner may not be that much into food challenges, but his willingness to let someone craft a quantity challenge a couple years ago became the second big draw for me. As you might expect, it's not really advertised, but there are pictures on the business Facebook page. "Rocky's Challenge" is two 16 oz. Loaded Bilmo cheesesteaks, double meat, double cheese, mozzarella sticks, and fries. Basically about three pounds of meat and over eight pounds total. 90 minutes to finish. I asked if there was a prize, and it's probably a free meal (valued at $40 to $50) and a free shirt. While I don't have the capacity (or wallet) for 8+ pounds of food, I'd like to create my own smaller spicy challenge that seems more doable for the average Joe or Jane. Philly Bilmos really wowed me from the get-go. KGW's Drew Carney raved about this place, and now I'm raving about it. And after the move to Washington, this place is very close by. The panda's stomach is not safe.

So I just did a review on Bruchis Cheesesteaks and Subs. I saw this restaurant pop up while I was surfing restaurants in Vancouver. I live on the West side so don't get over the East side much anymore so kind of finding new places to try again as East side seems to get most the new places popping up. So I thought I'd check out this Philly Cheesesteak place and compare. WOW. This is place has amazing authentic Philly style Cheesesteaks and Subs! I got the one with everything on it. I got a small 8 inch one with small fries and I could barley finish it. (Should of got the cheese on the fries!) :-) To me this place is a step up from Bruchis. I like Bruchi's still but this place to me is more East coast authentic and the quality is great. They use rolls sent in from Philly. The use quality meats from Boar Head. It's all cooked to order. You can tell the owner / cook who I assume is one in the same really cares about putting out an amazing sandwich. The girl at the register was friendly as well. I'd recommend this place. As of now.. this is the best cheesesteak place in SW Washington IMHO. I ended up grabbing an Italian cold sub with the works for lunch tomorrow. Will visit again when I'm back on that side of town!

Better than in Philly if you ask me...can watch them being made fresh and taste delicious. The pizza one is my favorite...with a side of HOT French Fries (meaning they are cooked while your sandwich is being made)! Owners are very personable and nice...noticed they know a lot of customers by first name and if they wanted the usual...great place!

This place is a consistent good Cheesesteak! The rolls are amazing, crispy on the outside and soft on the in. The meat is nicely seasoned and oh so delicious, just the right amount of cheese. The fries are some of the best in town. I am a fry fanatic and these are definitely calorie worthy. I prefer fresh cut - but these are a very close second. I have even gone and just had fries. The sausage and peppers sandwich is not my favorite - probably because the cheesesteak is so good that it doesn't meet my tastebud expectations. Nice variety of sodas. The owners are working their tail off too, sometimes they overlook smiling and friendly banter, but they always nail the quality of their food (we eat there quite a bit). This is a locally owned restaurant that deserves your business, if the owners forget to smile and chit chat - well, think of it as an East Coast thing and enjoy your food.

I'm a fan, but the other reviewer is right. The owner of Philly's does a fantastic job, but you can't always get the best quality help in a gig like this. Line cooks come and go, and he can't do everything himself. When he's on the grill, it's a delightful treat that is a jewel of the west coast. When he's not, it can go either way. You can always look forward to the fantastic bread, though. Even if it's someone new on the grill, you can always play it safe with pastrami or some other sandwich. Still tasty, but not as good as a cheesesteak -- but more consistent between visits. Just a note... stay clear of the tastykakes. You don't know what you're getting into.

Definately not a Capriotti's. Got a sausage sub give it a 3 out 5. Not sure if I'll be back.

Great Philly sandwiches - pretty darn close to what you can expect from a place on the east coast (i.e Philly). It takes about 10 minutes to get your sandwich - but I know I'm getting it cooked to order - lunch rush can be slower. Wish they had a soda fountain instead of soda pop in a can. Either way, I'm a fan and have been back several times.

I love Philly Bilmos SO MUCH! Their cheese steaks are amazing, as are their different pastas! I normally get myself two 16 inch sandwiches so I can enjoy one the next day as well!

Philly Bilmo's is one of the many selections you have for lunch or dinner in Vancouver. What sets them apart is how amazing their food is. Absolutely delicious. Full of flavor, dripping with cheese sauce that forms from the melting cheese mixing with the juice from the steak, fresh mushrooms, peppers, and onions all sautéed to perfection. This place is a must try. They even have something for the lady friend: Killer Chicken Parm Pasta with a cheesy red sauce, and fresh salads with a great oil/vinegar dressing. At some of the people who are unfairly lowering the rating of this very-obviously non-vegetarian establishment, get over yourselves. Seriously. I would never go to a vegan restaurant and ask them to add meat to my dinner, so you really shouldn't complain when you aren't happy with your steak-free steak sandwich. Rating them down because you asked for bread with a pile of sautéed veggies on it and they gave it to you is bullsh**. I would have flat out told you "NO", but they tried to accommodate your crazy-ass request as best as they could. Do you order steak dinners at Outback and tell them to "Hold the steak" too? Sheesh!

Philly Bilmos has the best sandwiches in Vancouver hands down. The loaded Philly is out of this world.

Been coming to have Mike's awesome sandwiches since he opened. Great place! Try it! (unless you're vegetarian...) Seriously WTF?

Very good Philly steaks sandwich's, but the drink selection is the best by far. They have RC cola and Root beer in glass bottles, and the owner is also the cook, this is a plus for me. It is tucked away in a strip mall, near an old Albert sons. They use Boar Head meats, and steak is cooked to order. The owner uses is grandma's marinara sauce recipe, it's best with their cheesy stix. You have to try at least once. And they have lots more to offer.

Dropped in on a visit to my parent's house. All of us originally from Trenton, New Jersey, so we are quite familiar with Philly cheesesteaks. This place flies in the rolls straight from Philly. They make a good steak sandwich. Very tasty. If you're missing that east coast taste, this place might settle your craving a bit.

Boy, do I disagree with a couple of the reviews on this place. Our daughter-in-law just had to take us here as my husband LOVES cheesesteak. I couldn't imagine anything being as good as she said it was. But, it was! This place has the best ... and, I do mean the best Philly Cheesesteak we have ever had. We'll be back and taking others with us too.

Great bread plus perfectly seasoned and cooked steak equals great cheesesteaks. Only issue I had was the TastyCake was still frozen in the middle.

Best cheesesteaks in the Portland Metro area! Just wish there were more locations. We drive almost 30 minutes to cure the craving. Great service. Cooked to order so it's worth the small wait.

Love this place, every time i come here i'am never disappointed, the loaded cheese steak is always on the money and the chille cheese fries are good or cheese fries, how you prefer them, little over priced but worth a couple dollars more for a enjoyable meal.

I want to give 5 stats, but the are very slow. However, best sandwich place in Vancouver! The chicken Philly sandwich is epic, never new sandwich could taste this good. Call in the order to save time.

The Cheesesteak was okay, I ordered the "traditional" but for some reason it was lacking flavor and was a bit watery, I was not too impressed.

Great cheesesteaks. Roast pork. Chicken cheesesteaks. Everything is amazing. I am from Philly and drive 30 minutes to come here. Every time is worth it.

I've only been here twice and it was great both times, Amazing food and the only place in town where you can get a legit philly cheesesteak and you can get a beer too if you want.

I love a good cheese steak, so when I heard about this place I was excited. It is a small, casual, order at the counter place. The girl that took our order was friendly and helpful. After my friend and I both ordered half sandwiches, she recommended we order a whole and split it because it would be cheaper. It worked great since they cut the sandwiches in half anyway. The sandwich was great. The taste was on point. It was juicy through out. We also split a medium order of cheese fries. It was plenty of food. They put plenty of cheese on them. This is a good choice for a quality affordable meal.

Omg This Place Is Super $pendy!!!!!!! The cheese steak was good but definitely not worth almost 17.00 for a 12"that's just insane!.....will not go back for that reason. Firehouse Subs is 1000% Better & Way Cheaper!!!!!!!!!!& just a few blocks away from PB's

Tasteless commercial food. Have tried twice. The "traditional" bilmo steak tastes like flavored paper. Just tossed 3/4 of the "Steamed Pastrami and Swiss". The pastrami is barely salted. Can't even taste any vinegar in the sauerkraut. The bread resembles soaked wonder bread. To confirm, I'm editing this review as I eat a cheesesteak from "Shut up and Eat". Philly Bilmos might as well be Dominos' cardboard.

Absolutely the best, this side of the Poconos'! I crave east coast food and when I found them...may cravings are fulfilled! Not only is the cheesesteaks great, so is the pork, pastrami.....YUM!

Cheesesteaks the way they should be (with cheese whiz) on the right kind of bread! If you don't think the 8 inch is enough, you can man up and try to put down the 16 inch loaded cheesesteak. I dare you.

If you are in the NW and want a Philly, this is the place to go. Simple and delicious with friendly service to boot. The actual owner was there when I checked in and was nice to his customers and employees.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
