My fave Americanized Thai place in town. The service is more traditional and not what we'd call friendly, but as very, very frequent visitors, they know our orders as we walk in the door, only confirming it before they prepare. With full bar service, it's really funny watching our server prepare the drinks as if he's in high school chemistry class, measuring and following directions to precision. It's worth it to order a complex drink just to see this. It's an impressively stocked bar. My fave dish is their green curry. The best part is that they always custom make it to omit the items I don't like... green curry with chicken, no bell peppers, no rice (broccoli instead). Yes, they really do this and get it right each time. The bf orders different things which are always good to try, but I still prefer my little boring green curry. Next to a vacuum repair shop in a strip mall, I'm always hesitant to try places like this, but this family run business shines. Try their sister restaurant, Ginger Pop, as well. Their chicken wings are crazy, sticky good.

I ate here when this place first opened and it was nothing impressive. My family had good food, but mine was not to my liking - flash forward to my friends taking my husband and I there a few months ago. The difference is crazy! The staff may have some issues with communication, but they do their best to get what you want. Not sure why there are so many reviews saying the curry wasn't spicy; this restaurant offers a huge variety of curries (not all of them are meant to be spicy) and I've never had to add anything extra to mine. If you do have a taste for extea fire, they bring a set of 5 or so various sauces and chilis for you to add for yourself. I'm not a fan of Pad Thai in general, but it's okay here. I find it too sweet for my taste, though. Everything else I've eaten was very good! Give it a try! The owner is a super sweet guy, too. He was very friendly when we were there. P.S. DO get the dessert! It's to die for! Some sort of rice, coconut and honey. My husband hates coconut, but he liked it, too!

I have food allergies. I can't have gluten, dairy, or eggs and I don't eat any meat unless it's chicken. The people here are very accommodating and helped me so much! I highly recommend this please!!

Food was great and my husband says it always is. I accompanied him on a business trip and this was my first time. The service was adequate, nothing special. I had the lettuce wraps and my husband had the pad Thai . Both meals were very good. I have had better in Seattle, but I would return here with no hesitation.

Vegan options: I suppose Service: Alright Price: Decent As a vegan I typically have great luck finding options at Thai and Indian places but I didn't strike gold at Arawan. Our server didn't seem to understand that I don't eat animal products and it took a bit of conversation to figure out what I could eat. Apparently all of the curries and many of the noodle dishes are off the table (fish sauce that can't be left out?). I was really craving a curry. Ordered the spring rolls to start. Unfortunately the peanut sauce has fish sauce in it (why?!) which I'm glad the server told me about. He brought their plum sauce for me which was tasty. Ended up with a somewhat greasy veggie stir fry and brown rice. I guess I should've been more earnest when I asked for spicy- was completely mild. Not a bad meal, just not what I was hoping for for $10. My parents thought their dishes were alright. The pad Thai is really sweet. Overall: not bad, not great. Better vegan Thai options across the river in Portland. Wouldn't come back.

Didn't want a big lunch so ordered just chicken satay and salad rolls. The satay was very good but the accompanying peanut sauce was thin and little or no peanut flavor. The cucumber salad wasn't sweet enough or vinegary enough. It was just blah. The salad rolls were just OK but accompanied by the same insipid peanut sauce.

The best Thai food in vancouver good customer service the best margaritas make from the owner the food test excellent and perfect

This is a lot if bang for your buck! I went with a large group during lunch and had a great experience. Quick and friendly service. We came without a reservation with a group of 12. We were seated immediately, but were certainly not the only ones in the restaurant. No matter what we ordered, everyone got a small starter salad. The dressing on it was some kind of wonderful peanut dressing. I ordered the green curry, which was fabulous! It was big enough that I got two good sized meals. The waiter separated our checks with no issues at all. We were all in and out with our to go boxes in 1 hour. Everyone was pleased with what they got. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was to eat there. My bill came to 9 pre tip! I would highly recommend this to anyone in the area. Dress casual or businesslike. You'll see lots of professionals during the lunch hour.
(5)Crystal M.
Great service & food. We split the pad Thai with double the chicken and shrimp salad rolls. Great for 2 people ! The flavor of the pad Thai was on point- not too spicy but it had a good kick to it when you order it medium. We will be back!!!
(4)Brad N.
Food ok but after several times going there and experiencing horrible service I'm done. Waiters lounging around not helping people in near empty restaurant. Hostess (probably owners kid) talking on phone for 5 minutes while you stand there. When finally seated was placed (despite entire restaurant nearly empty) along side family with screaming kid. And then wait for 15 min for someone to even ask if you want water. Not first time there with young help acting rude and snotty. But it was the last.

My wife and I enjoy Arawan for its cleanliness, its ambiance (especially for being it a strip mall next to a BevMo), friendly wait staff and of course, the food. We always start every Thai meal with fresh rolls. Though we always order them, this is perhaps the only disappointment in the whole restaurant...rather bland and needs some Chaba Thai like flavor. Our favorite dishes are the yellow curry, pad se ew, and the drunken noodles. We have also tried the fried rice, and larb salad. Nothing disappoints and I recommend a little adventure beyond pad thai, I don't think that they will disappoint you. We have always had great service: attentive, helpful, and available to your every need. The ownership obviously takes pride in their work as is seen in the elegantly tasteful decor and strict attention to cleanliness. Great spot, highly recommended!
(4)Kristen S.
I really enjoy this restaurant and go there whenever I'm in town. Their pad thai is just the best. The only thing I can say negatively is that sometimes it is too sweet. But as an Americanized Thai dish, I love it. And of course, their thai iced teas are delightful.
(4)A. Z.
This is our favorite Thai restaurant, not only in Oregon, but in the country - both locations. Their curries are excellent, we love their Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and their Crab Rangoon. The lunch specials are solid. If you eat in, you get soup or a salad included.
(5)Cindy M.
My favorite Thai restaurant in Vancouver. I LOVE the yellow curry, crab wontons, pad Thai, fried rice...lots of other choices.
(5)La W.
Theis place is the best! My husband and I eat Thai food a lot... I mean a lot! But this place is by far the best Thai restaurant we have ever been to. They give great portion sizes, and the prices are great! Customer service is excellent and friendly. I can't count how many times my family and I have eaten here, and I give it 5 stars every time.
(5)Caitlin K.
Pad Thai is ok. Their salad rolls are devoid of flavor and their peanut sauce was disgusting. Their green curry is 1. Not green 2. Not as flavorful as every other place I've ever been. It wasn't terrible. It just wasn't good.
(2)Keith K.
Arawan is okay Thai food wrapped in a nice restaurant. None of the traditional dishes stood out in either direction, good or bad. There are several other Thai restaurants within a few minutes drive that are also decent, but if you want a sure thing, take the drive across the river and visit Red Onion, now that's good Thai.
(3)Victoria B.
Recently moved to area, This was my first thai restaurant to try. It was amazing. I'm a big soup fan and their Tom kha gai was magnificent, sweet creamy, chunks of tomato and bits of galangal! Can't wait to cine back and try the curries! Atmosphere is cute and neat.
(5)Parker J.
I must admit that my family and I walked into Arawan post 8:30 on the 23rd of December. We were the only ones in the restaurant for a couple minutes before another family walked in. The service was, as it has been in the past phenomenal. The place was spotless, possibly cleaner than our house. As we were finishing our meal a man that I assume must be the owner started setting up a frozen drink machine and filling it with what looked like margarita mix. He walked over to our table and asked how everything was. I asked about the machine and was told it was for the employee BBQ tomorrow. We chatted for a moment and it was only then that we found out that we went in 30 minutes before they would be closed for two days. Not once did they ever try to hurry us out of the restaurant. Great customer service! As far as the food it was very good. I am not a expert on Thai food of any sort. I have had what I think is horrible Thai food and perhaps I thought it horrible because it was not Americanized. I don't know. Having been to China and Hong Kong many times I know what is served there is NOTHING like what I get here in a Chinese restaurant. What I was served was very flavorful and fresh. We had two different curries. One a vegetable curry and the other a chicken and green bean curry. Both had entirely different flavors unlike some places where all the curry tastes the same. We also had the Tom Kha Gai. Their soup was just like I like it. It was thick and had tomatoes in it. It had just the right amount of coconut flavor and just the right sweetness. They used real lemon grass not lemon grass paste like I use at home. They also kept the lemon grass in large pieces so it was easily removed. I add a little more chicken than their soup had but it was not lacking chicken. The mushrooms were just right in quantity. All in all very good soup. I thought the portion was a little small for the price. Their food cost may have been at under 15% on the soup. We also had pineapple fried rice with shrimp with chicken. Lots of chicken but only three shrimp. I wonder if there would have been four if there were four of us. They were large shrimp. I would have preferred smaller shrimp but more of them like another place her in Vancouver does it. The fried rice was very good though. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Free parking in lot, nice clean interior, reasonably priced and good size, tasty dishes. I have been here seeral times over the years and have always been happy with the service, taste of food and cost. Recommend trying it.
(3)Emily C.
I love Thai food! This is one of four places in the area run by actual Thai staff, so you know it's good. They are friendly, polite, and know their stuff. Their curry is so deliciously crafted, the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I wish they offered eggplant. Another great thing about Arawan is that they have a glass noodles pad Thai that has a phenomenal texture. I'd highly recommend trying it. Give this place a visit, you won't be disappointed.
(4)Myca T.
Great Thai food! Lots of curries, noodle dishes, and fried rice. I was impressed at how quickly they brought out our appetizers and meals. Very friendly staff who anticipated our needs before we were able to voice them. Warm welcoming environment. Not what you would expect in a strip mall.
(4)Marjory B.
GrubHub.com says this place delivers...they are lying, but that's ok. The salad rolls were pretty standard but good, and the Tom Yum soup was delicious. They told me the order would be ready to pick up in about 15 minutes. I live 5 minutes away so I just hung up and left. It was ready when I got there, and that was definitely less than 15 minutes.
(4)Melissa W.
Basil Chow Mein with Chicken is yummy! It is my favorite, although it isn't typically what I would order in a Thai restaurant. Really I happened upon that dish by accident. My daughter wanted noodles, but not like pad thai noodles, so we ordered this. And we were pleasantly surprised by the flavors. It is just a little bit spicy, you can taste the basil, it is cooked and seasoned well. I was surprised at how much we all enjoyed this dish (generally we get take out and for our family of 5, we order 3 plates and have plenty of food and left overs). As is typical with Thai places, you have to specifically ask for things spicy if you want more flavor- I think plenty of people order things with less spice, but I'm all about the spice and ask for my food spicy. Their coconut cream soup is the only one I have ever tasted, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I think it is rather delicious and my two year old will happily eat it as well. Really there is something for everyone here, it is a family owned business with two locations. One in Vancouver and one in Portland. I really enjoy the food and atmosphere of Arawan.
(5)Nathan S.
All I can say is that I love Thai Tea SO MUCH. And, well, all thai food. I'm kinda biased.
(5)Camille C.
Ordered Tofu Tom Yum Soup because at the time I gave up meat for Lent. It was yummy as usual. The spicyness could've been upped just a tad but I was cool with it :) It wasn't busy for a Sunday afternoon, I believe it was lunch time. So service was pretty quick. The bar was located toward the middle of the restaurant itself. It had TV channel on SportsCenter so I was a happy camper :) All in all, don't really have anything negative to say. I say give it a try & see what you think.
(4)Paige L.
This place has always been consistently good. My husband has never had a bad experience here and neither have I... The service is normal and the food is delicious... absolutely to die for. I kept wanting to eat until I couldn't anymore. I can't wait to go back here for dinner again tomorrow night. Haha!! Our favorite dishes are the Arawan Fried Rice with Chicken (spicy), Pad Ki Mow spicy, and Pad Thai. They seriously have the best Pad Ki Mow. I could eat a whole plate myself. Also, the owner Joe is fabulous. He has become a great friend of ours when we come in.
(5)Baby P.
I am big fan of Thai food especially their drunken noodle (Pad Ki Mow). I love their wide rice noodles here (Thai terrace and Mongochal can't compete, to be honest). other dishes are good too, i.e Massaman curry, Fried rice and oh yummy fried tofu :-) I don't give it all 5 stars because of its customer service: waiting quite long to get water, order and food. Their waitresses are good, waiters: a big NO NO.
(4)Abi L.
Super nice people. But I had to add a ton of chili flakes to my curry...and that might not seem like an issue to some people but curry is supposed to be spicy. Especially if you make a point to warn me when I order it. Absolutely NO spice whatsoever. The tofu in their pad thai was a little too squishy and they don't put really any veggies in it either. Kind of a bummer.
(3)Dmitry P.
Place Is great! Food is good! Only thing is service is soooooo SLOW!!!! Men who work there take their sweet time and not friendly at all! But others than that! Great! By the way Arawan means - Elephant! If you wondering.
(4)Mahsa K.
It's funny, this place was better than any equally priced Thai food my husband and I would have found while living in DC, and here it's just a regular ol'neighborhood quick Thai restaurant in the burbs. It was truly A-OK. The crab rangoons were awesome, the fried rice was--well, fried rice, tasty but it's not rocket science. What i really appreciated was the ingenuity in creating the "Drunken Pad Thai Noodles." Never have i ever seen that on a menu anywhere, it was truly a fantasy. It didn't exactly disappoint, it was tasty. It was really interesting and again I really appreciate the creativity, but it did make realize I would've preferred to just have one or the other. E for effort. Pretty decor though. Prettier than I would expect for a place full of families with babies. Really pretty slate elephant waterfall ensemble as soon as you walk in the front door.

I am a natural gourmet chef' and always like Thai food cause of all the veggies. We got salad rolls # 35 and coconut Veggie soup. The worst food ever, my boyfriend agreed, we also waited 45 min to get food. We paid $35.00 for awful food and felt ripped off. Will not return. We have our favorite Thai places and will stick to more authentic Thai family owned Restuarant's where the recipes passed down for generations (fresh good and not cheap seafoods and meats) very disappointed since we just moved into the area...
(1)Sara B.
We went here for Valentines Day after a few failed attempts at some busy places with long waits. I am glad we did! Service was very quick and friendly. We had a feast of different things. My favorite was the Tom Kha Gai (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) . But it was all so good. The place is very classy inside and clean! We will be back for sure!
(5)David B.
This is my family's go to spot for Thai food in Vancouver: close to home; good food; quick, friendly service; hardly ever a long wait. I think they also do take out, but we always eat in. Originally I went here with a friend a while back on his suggestion, and walked away impressed. Suggested Arawan to my parents and it's become part of the restaurant rotation when I'm back in town. Good place - we'll back.
(4)Mark P.
I don't normally write a review based on a single dish, but when it's considered a country's national dish - a food item that represents a nation, and stands as an icon of that country - I think I can make an exception. Most American restaurants can make a decent burger, right? So most Thai places should be able to nail Pad Thai. Besides, I've been here a couple of times over the years. I was unimpressed after my last visit, but decided to give it another go today. I remain unimpressed. Pad Thai is normally bursting with a variety of contrasting flavors and textures: sweet and spicy, salty and sour, crunchy and chewy. Arawan's Pad Thai, by contrast, is the blandest I have ever tasted. There wasn't even a hint of heat, nor an option to spice it up (most places allow you to customize the spiciness of the dish based on your tolerance for chili peppers). A small portion of crushed peanuts was tucked on the side of the plate almost as an afterthought, and there was no lime - an essential ingredient for enhancing the flavors. Luckily I had gotten mine to go this time and had a lime in the fridge, but it should be included regardless. Squeezing a couple of wedges over the noodles improved things, but only marginally. On the plus side, they were generous with the chicken I added, but that too was flavorless and a little dry. The noodles were fine and the bean sprouts added a nice crispy bite, but overall the whole thing was just completely lacking in flavor. I will give them points for service and friendliness, both of which were exceptional. But as far as food goes, I'd rather be anywhere on Alberta or Hawthorne, where truly good Thai restaurants flourish. I do hear good things about the soup here. If there is a next time, I'll have to expand my horizons, I suppose.
(2)Andi T.
Very clean, good atmosphere! The Cilantro Mojitos are fab! Salad Rolls are fresh and delicious. I don't know how they prep the chicken for their dishes, but it's tender, smokey flavored and I cannot for the life of me, replicate that at home. Try their Arawan Rice. It's yummy.
(4)mochi b.
All of the dishes we ordered were bland (pad Thai, pad see ew, pineapple fried rice, pineapple curry). The restaurant was busy, so maybe the food is better when it is less crowded.
(2)Toni P.
A bit out of the way for me, but well worth the drive when I'm craving Thai! Two words: Pineapple Noodles!
(4)Joy M.
Really confused about the great reviews here. Very pretty restaurant, nice atmosphere, friendly wait staff (although completely unorganized, so it accidentally results in bad service). However, the food is not good and barely resembles actual Thai food. They fill all their dishes with as much baby corn as they can (what?), it's bland, and has the feel of a mall version of ethnic food for people who have never had the real thing. Even the Thai iced tea was wrong - brown, not the classic bright orange that any lover of Thai iced tea would know instantly, bitter (i.e., not at all sweet), and watery (don't think that was half and half). Big disappointment, we'll not be returning. Two stars because while not good, the food was edible, there is just much better actual Thai food available.
(2)Tony F.
Simply awesome! When ever my wife and I are in the mood for Thai this is the first place to come to mind.
(5)Greg G.
Another meal enjoyed and another review. We came here on the 5th January and ordered our usual assortment of noodle dishes, curries and one stir fry plus some Tom Yum with noodles. This place just never disappoints. The Panang curry with the green beans is just awesome. The Pad Ki Mow is becoming one of my favorite dishes of all time here. -- it's just really, really tasty and if you've never tried it, try it!! Arawan is great, the service is great, the people are nice and they're busy. Every time I eat here I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm really in Vancouver because Vancouver has so few restaurants that are this good and this consistent. If you've never tried Arawan, just have to try it.
(4)Cory P.
The pineapple curry chicken (white meat and full of chicken) excellent!! We are Thai maniacs and this food was bitchin!! Yum!!
(5)Johnny S.
Came here with some coworkers to celebrate. We took up the entire back room and ordered almost everything off the menu. The service was good and the food was ok.
(3)Dorene S.
A great lunch place, though there does not seem to be many people. Tom yum starter soup that came free with the meal was unexpectedly delicious and authentic. A unique item not in most other Thai restaurant was the pineapple noodles noodles with chicken so I had to have that. Even though this was the only thing I tried in this restaurant, I may come back just to have this again. The noodles are flat, wide rice noodles that are first quickly stir-fried in very high heat), then slathered with a thick sauce of pineapples, chicken, carrots, baby corns, onions, bell peppers and cashew nuts. Just amazing! KPI (Key Performance Indicators) ratings (1-5, 5 - best): Quality: 4 Delivery/Service: 3 Cost: 3
(4)Matt C.
I am a huge fan of Thai food. I have been to several places in the Vancouver and Portland area and I am always in the mood to try a new place. I went here on the recommendation of a co-worker and I have to say, I had a less than positive experience. The service was fine (although quality of service rarely impacts my ratings on Yelp. If you are serving me kick a#@ food, I could care less how rude you are, but I digress). I ordered two of my favorite Thai dishes, Tom Kha Gai and red curry. I have had a lot of Tom Kha in my life, and I have to be honest, this was probably the least successful I have ever had. It was so incredibly bland. Seriously, my first thought was, "did they accidentally leave the spices out?" I'm not trying to be funny, that really was my first thought. I then had the same experience with the red curry. Very, very bland. I read a few reviews from people, after the fact, who also complained about how bland the food was. One reviewer wondered if it was because they were super busy. Well, I can answer that. No, because when I went it was actually quite dead. The food here is just too bland for my taste. In my humble opine, there are MANY better Thai food restaurants in Vancouver, let alone Portland.

The Wife and I had free time while The Grandma had The Tax Deduction for the night (get all that?). These are great opportunities to go out and be more adventurous than we normally would be with the Tax Deduction in tow. I had a craving for Thai food and since normally that craving gets handled at lunch near work (which is nowhere near Vancouver) we had to do a little homework. We decided on Arawan Thai. It was close by, it has good reviews and it just sounds cool. I've really only been introduced to Thai about a year ago, so I am still timidly just dipping my toe in the waters to see if it's okay for me. Mostly I stick with Pad Thai, it really tastes great, and I have found out that I am not a huge fan of strong curry tastes. My loss I guess. So, being I was here for the first time I went with the tried and true, although I did see a lot of things on the menu that I want to try in the future. The Wife ordered the Cashew Nut Chicken. As we waited for the food to arrive I really started to relax, the décor induced a relaxing feeling in me. Water noise in the background from an elephant adorned fountain, cool and relaxing colors and comfortable booths all made for a warm feeling. "That's good for a star." I thought to myself as The Wife and talked about this and that. The food arrived and it was especially visually pleasing. Really as I looked at my Pad Thai I thought to myself (I do that a lot) that it looked like a pretty meager serving size. The Wife's Cashew Nut Chicken looked vibrant and smelled wonderful with the garlic sauce and the red peppers aroma wafting up around the table. Visually, she won. As married couples do we shared each other's dishes and both were really excellent. The food is a win here. And yes, it was filling; looks can be deceiving. The service was very good and we did not feel rushed at all. Refills were offered in a timely manner on our drinks and it seemed like our server avoided asking us questions while we had a mouth full of food. Would that ever eatery trained their staff to do this. So Arawan gets a place in our eating out rotation. Prior attempts of coming here with the Tax Deduction have proven disastrous, so this gem will have to remain a childless treat. For now.

Food: Pad Ki Mow: I don't know if I was just STARVING or if this food was really good or maybe it's a combo of both, but this dish was YUMMY!!! I loved the consistency of the flat rice noodle! I liked the flavoring and I really liked the beef! The thin slices of beef really made the dish sing! Not too soft and not too chewy! Perfect!! Service: Really friendly waiter! Good at striking up a convo and giving good recommendations! Price: Food came to $12 (tax and tip included) so it's pretty typical or even a little cheaper than normal for Thai food. Ambiance: Trendy, modern place! Everything looked really new and Americanize but I didn't mind, because it was decorated pretty nicely! Overall: I would totally come again! Rock the Thai food!

I've eaten here four times over the years since it open always hoping that they would be better eventually. I was wrong. The last experience was at lunch. I always order 4 out of 5 stars for heat because I love the heat and spice but don't want sweat on my brow or coughing attacks from too much spice. I eat Thai food about 20 times a year so I know what level 4 spice level should be. The food that was brought out to me was a spice level 6. Burning acid on my tongue and lips. I never saw the server again for the whole meal so I was couldn't send it back. I tackled it like it was a food challenge thinking I was on Candid Camera and eventually someone was going to come out from the kitchen and congratulate me on my feat. I had to go up to the bar and ask for more water two times. I'll wait another year or two and give it another try.
(1)Ryan T.
Surprisingly good for strip-mall Thai. Above average service, good food, definitely a regular stop for lunch.
(4)Michael M.
Food- 5 stars The vegetables are always fresh, the chicken is lean, and the flavors are spot on and consistent. We frequent this place and can count on quality food each time. My wife enjoys spicy food and is only able to get her dish "5 star hot" occasionally. I'm not as adventurous, but love the Pad Prig King. Excellent! Service- 5 stars The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and they are attentive whenever we visit. They really appreciate your business. In 4 years of being customers we've never had bad service. Atmosphere- 4 stars This is a very clean, fresh atmosphere. Yes, its in a strip mall and not upscale, but given that it is what you'd expect in this price range. Value- 4 stars This is not a bargain meal, but consistent food, great service, and friendly staff every time. We love it and you will too. Dinner for 2 is just over $20. Go see them!
(5)Garrett J.
Thai food is my favorite and this is the best place in Vancouver. I can't count the number of times I've been here and the food is always exceptional. Their Massaman curry is rich, creamy and thick. Although the staff isn't superb, the food makes up for any shortcomings.
(5)Alex B.
Well, there is no doubt that for the average eater, the Tom Yum Soup would be good because it is. Frankly, I have cooked Tom Yum Soup of the same caliber. But come on!!! $$15.00 for soup??? The other foods on the menu are just as pricey. The taste is just okay. It seems that they have one common sauce for everything. All their curries taste the same. Okay, maybe a slight difference in taste. They also place just too much curry (or sauce) on the dish that it looks like soup. I thought I ordered a dish to go with the rice, not another soup.
(3)Jennifer P.
Delicious thai food, especially the vegetable curry with chicken. I have been twice and ordered takeout once. Service has been slow both times, from sitting down to order to getting the bill, however the staff are very kind. Appetizers, entrees, and salads have all been great. It's our go to thai restaurant.
(4)Trumary S.
I went here for a birthday party over a year ago and was not impressed. They were over-priced with okay portion sizes. The staff seemed snooty and the bathrooms were dirty. Thinking it was a fluke, I did go back for lunch and again, the service was slow and I just didn't enjoy it. The staff really didn't seem to care. I'd rather save my money for a place that treats me better and wants to know if I enjoyed myself. Not even a "thank you" or "come again". Other people in our party thought it was fantastic...all I can say is "Different strokes for different folks."
(2)Len M.
Terrific Thai food - speedy, friendly service! Tom Yum soup is awesome but my fav has to be Khao Pad Ga Prau (with fried egg)... fried rice dish with chili and basil in Thai sauce (inc any meat or tofu)... Amazing!!
(5)Stacy L.
This place was fabulous!! Everything we ordered was delicious! We especially enjoyed the matsaman curry and the pineapple fried rice. I can't believe we have waited to long to go there we will definitely be going back.

Absolutely delightful! I think Thai has moved into my top 3 faves! The Tom Yum soup is super yummy! You can order your meal in a variety of spice levels. The portions are generous and affordable. Just beware of the impending 'food baby' from over stuffing yourself :)

Best Thai in Camas! Owners are super friendly, gave me a ride even when me & two kids had car trouble. But first & foremost delicious food! You've gotta try the Tom Yum cocktail - so delicious!

Great food, reasonable prices and family friendly. We tried the basic Thai dishes (curry, pad thai and sweet 'n sour chicken) all which were pretty tasty. Will go back anytime we're craving good Thai food.

Went for lunch so ordered off the lunch menu. Tried both of their appetizer soups and both were fresh and flavorful. The yellow curry had more flavor than the massamum, but both were still good for the price. Lots of veggies and meat in the dishes and something that's becoming hard to find, rice came with the dishes not as an extra priced item. Soup was also included so it's a good price for the food. "Crab puffs" were great and it was nice being able to pick 3 appetizers for a plate and not have them already chosen.

Lovely ambience, nice staff, decent service & good food for a reasonable price. Definitely worth a try!

We went here with my in-laws and my mother-in-law nearly left the service was so bad. In fact, I can't think of a single restaurant where I've had worse servers. There were a couple more tables filled but it somehow took the server an extraordinary amount of time to come back after giving us our menus, the food came 45+ minutes later, and I'm pretty sure our water glasses weren't filled once. Upside, however, was that I did enjoy my food, but I don't know if that's going to be enough to get my back.

Great little Thai spot in Vancouver! I haven't tried their noodles yet, but I can vouch for their curries. I'm a fan of the red, yellow and green curries. My favorite, however, is the garden curry- basically a vegetarian version of red curry, loaded with fresh veggies. They also have a lot of interesting grilled offerings, and a full bar. They also have great appetizers. I love the pick three for around 7 bucks. Last time we got the fresh spring rolls, the chicken wontons and the chicken satay- all were delicious. Their peanut sauce is to die for here. The decor is pretty, the staff is so friendly here, and the food is always delicious and hot. Prices are very reasonable. My only complaint is you really, really have to beg them to make the food spicy enough. Even when I ask for 5 stars....it tastes like a 2 to me. I eat here at least once a week, and I'm never disappointed! Love this place!

Favorite Thai food place in the surrounding Vancouver area. I have always had quality service, decent portion sizes and there is a lot of good flavor in the food. I have been continually going to Arawan for 4 years and I never had 1 bad experience. Don't listen to the snotty reviews the staff is really nice and they are willing to bring more rice if you need some. As a Vancouver resident I know what I am talking about and this is good Thai food. If you ask for spicy food don't be a wimp they never make it too spicey. My family regularly gets take out from Arawan and we continuely come to the restraunt due to the quality of the food and lack of good restraunts in Vancouver. I love their pad thai and curries. :) You would not be unhappy here and I have always had an excellent dineing experience.

Solid Pad Thai and great Sukiyaki soup!

Very nice restaurant with OK to good food. The lettuce wraps were tasty and I loved that you can add your own condiments. The Tom Kha Gai soup was excellent. We ordered two entrees from the wok menu, one with chicken and cashews, another with beef and black pepper sauce. We enjoyed both. The service was both timely and friendly. We will definitely be back.

I love their yellow curry, but I am not a fan of the chunks of potato. They have never had a problem replacing it with my veggie of choice and have never charged extra. The rice to curry ratio is perfect so it all mixes well without too much rice not getting covered it too much curry rolling around the plate. Fast and friendly service and great decor inside.

Is place is amazing! Everyone that works here is so so super friendly and sweet! :) every time me and my fiancé go they know us right away.. Well we always almost order the same stuff lol. But man they have the best mixed drinks there especially the blue paradise yum!! ^_^ you def have to check this place out!!! Best Thai food place in the Vancouver Area !!!

Garden curry and Tom Yum soup are my favorite. Pretty consistent. The tofu salad roll with peanut sauce is the best. I definitely recommend this place.

Food not good anymore. They served good food when they opened. The food isn't good anymore. It's like they just throw food together at the last minute so they don't really have flavor, or like a defrosted food flavor.

I agree with the comments in several other Arawan reviews -- that is, the curries tend to be pretty good (though not very spicy at all) and the noodle dishes best avoided. The Pad Thai is dry and overly sweet. The Pad Kee Mao is bland, and the noodles are overcooked, smashed and gummy. Oh, and light on the broccoli. Who cheaps out on broccoli? Sheesh. That said, I really do enjoy the curries and the Tom Yum soup is delicious. I just have to remind myself to stick with the curries, no matter how badly I feel like noodles.

I have been here threee times for work lunches for the last year and have been disappointed very time. The food is unimaginative, comes in portions that are too big, relies heavily on sugar and salt and seems more bad chinese than anything Thai. my $0.02.

Went here for dinner when I was home visiting family. I'm pretty sure this is the only decent Thai restaurant in eastern Vancouver. The interior decor is pretty swanky, I guess this would be a nice destination for a dinner date or something. That being said, the food wasn't anything special, my brother and I had the Pad-see-ew and some stir-fried red curry and beef dish. It seems like they use quality ingredients, but the flavors were a little on the bland side.

Great food and great service! Curry is fabulous! Glass Noodle salad and crab won tons are favorites. In the summer, be sure to make room for mango sticky rice for dessert.

first time here and loved it! had the spicy fried rice with tofu-excellent, drunken noodles with chicken-awesome, another chicken dish (minced chicken) with veggies was also good. overall the ambience is nice n food is tasty. nothing different than other thai places in terms of menu but quality is good

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Vancouver. The food is always fresh and the flavors are great. My husband and I enjoy the tom yum tofu soup (amazing lemon grass flavors!), pad thai, and cashew nut chicken. They also make a very nice sweet & sour halibut. Their lunch menu is very reasonable and we always enjoy talking with the friendly servers.

My favorite Thai restaurant by far! Good prices and great food. My favorite dish is the pan fried noodles.
(5)DR K.
Bland food and unfriendly service. I ordered the cashew chicken and asked for extra spicy. The dish was very bland. Just a stir fry of chicken, frozen peas and carrots, water chestnuts and cashews. No hint of flavor let alone any spicy thai heat. The waitress was really unfriendly. No smile. No greetings of Hello or Good-bye and Thank You. I'll stick to the other Thai establishments in Vancouver. Their food has taste and the people are happy to see you.

I almost always get the Red Curry Duck when I go here, and it has never failed to be great. Alternatively, I get the Crispy Spicy Fish, which is yummy if a bit monochromatic. I really should start eating my veggies, but I know what I like. Ive taken friends and family here since the place opened, and it is a pleasant dining experience.

My parents live in the 'Couve, so I go here almost weekly when I visit the parental units. I am somewhat of a salad roll connoisseur, and I honestly have never found a better salad roll in Portland. These have the perfect texture, are well wrapped so that the ingredients rarely fall out, and I always order them with peanut sauce (because I am a glutton for their peanut sauce too) and tofu. Just a bit of cilantro and basil, vermicelli, carrot and cucumber. I can't stand restaurants that serve salad rolls with nothing but lettuce, vermicelli and tofu. These have the right balance of all the ingredients. YUM! I won't recommend the pad thai, its a little too sweet and dry for me. However, the tofu khao pha ram is divine (perfectly fried tofu nuggets, veggies and rice drowned in peanut sauce), as is the pad sie-iew and the curries (massaman is my fav). Great service, convenient location (to the parents' house, anyway), nice atmosphere...I love you Arawan!

I ate here a few times before moving to Portland. The food was excellent and prepared perfectly. The service was quick and polite, our server even opened the door for my boyfriend and I when we left. The restaurant was slow on my last visit. We were sitting at the bar and I was being nosy and looking in the kitchen, I am such a diva when it comes to critiquing restaurants. The chef was in there cleaning (not just lounging around) and everything just looked spotless and well maintained. The dishwasher wasn't slamming things around and the whole operation seemed very inviting and relaxing. I was really impressed by this place!!! Definitely my favorite Thai place so far.

I have been eating at Arawan since they opened their doors. They have the best Thai food in town and better than every Thai restaurant in Portland! I've been to all one of them. I always order the Pad Thai, 5 star with a side of peanut sauce and fish sauce with peppers. The service is great. The owner Joe and his daughter are very friendly and they always greet me and the many family and friends that I have brought in over the years. They recently did a remodel and it is even more beautiful, open, compfortable and inviting. Great place for a business lunch, a date or to gather with your family and friends.

Not seasoned the best, curry is slightly boring. Rice cooked perfectly and the portions on my carryout were more than I could eat. I tried a red curry with bell peppers, basil, shoots and chicken. Total was $10.60 for a dinner. Will eat again and try some other dishes in the future.

If I could create a Jetson's style speedy land travel device that would spit me from California to Vancouver in 30 mins or less... you better believe this is the first place I'd go. (Sorry, Mom.) I love Arawan. They make THE BEST sweet and sour tofu. I have been to countless Thai restaurants in Portland, San Diego, Orlando, Monterey... a lot of places... but I've never ever had such a good version of this dish. If you're a veggie (like me) order the sweet and sour tofu! Most places make it way too soggy and salty... Arawan has the perfect mix of sweet and sour (just like the name), fresh veggies, and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside tofu! YUM. Their salad rolls (not the proper name, I'm sure) with the sweet sauce are amazing too... my mouth is watering... I'm so jealous of anyone who gets to eat here! You must realize that while I am giving this place a great mouth watering review, I have not had any actual food here in over 2 years. They are just that good. I miss them, I can't find a replacement for them, I wish I was rich and could somehow hire the restaurant as my personal chef crew and travel with me. Every single time I go to a Thai restaurant and order the Sweet and Sour Tofu, I know it wont be as good as Arawan. EAT HERE. BRING ME LEFTOVERS.

This place is amazing. The food is great, the service incredible, and the bar to die for. We went on a Thursday night and there was no wait at all. I don't know what the weekends are like, but the dining room is pretty big, so having to wait very long at all would surprise me.

This restaurant is AMAZING. Best thai food. I don't like overly-sweet peanut sauces, and this place has it perfect~ The spice is adjustable, so you can add more and my spice-hating parents also enjoyed it. Service is awesome--I'm not one to go to the same restaurant all the time, but this has become a regular haunt~! Oh, and the hot tea is to die for!
(5)Christina B.
This was my first Thai Food experience and it was very yummy! I will definently go again. The service was a little slow considering we were the only people in there and since we had to sit at the table for about 5 minutes before they brought us our menu we missed the lunch menu by about 5 minutes!! Food was a 4 star servIce about a 2 so it gets a 3 star review

Quick and easy Thai food. Tastes good. Extremely clean and friendly restaurant. Good cocktails.

This place simply has some of the best Thai cuisine I've had in a long, long time. Great food, great service, great everything. Plus they have a pretty neat fountain when you walk in.
