I've waited a couple days to do this review to let the bad taste that was left after our visit here settle. Some of that bad taste was due to the food and some was due to the service and attitude of the staff. My husband has been here several times and liked the food so I decided to try it out for myself. I definitely won't be going back! The Kahlua Pork was bitter from too much liquid smoke being added after it was cooked (I'm assuming). It got to be so bad I couldn't even finish the very small portion they give you. The Fried Rice was extremely dry and tasteless until I added plenty of soy sauce and let it soak in. I definitely recommend spending the extra $2.25 for one scoop of rice and two scoops of Mac Salad, that was the best part of the meal. The Mochiko Chicken is good, a little burnt but still had that wonderful sweet taste! None of the food is worth the steep prices and small portions though! As if the food wasn't bad enough... When I checked in here on Yelp, it popped up saying we would receive an order of Spam Musubi - how wonderful, I love Spam!! I showed it to our server as instructed and she said "Oh, we don't do Yelp". She just stood there, looking at us, stammering, saying she had no idea what it was and no, they wouldn't honor it. She was new though and finally agreed to go talk to a more senior server. She returned and said no, they would not honor it, that they "Didn't do the Yelp thing"! Okay, fine, no I don't want the Musubi... She then went back to the counter, visible by the entire restaurant, and they all proceeded to get a horrible attitude, staring and shaking their heads at us! They even got the cook in on it through the pass through window where he proceeded to say, very loudly, that no way would they have a Yelp coupon, those "Yelp people" are crooked and keep calling them wanting them to sign up for $400 a month and Yelp would remove all bad reviews for them. He went on for quite awhile about it too! This was all over a $3 item! Very, very bad business decision. They tried to "make nice" by taking the $7 Lumpia off our bill. My husband asked them to put it back on, we weren't looking for "hand outs". The cook came from the back and explained he wanted to make the customers happy and proceeded to tell the Yelp story to him about the $400 a month. Does he not realize that honoring the coupon would have made us perfectly happy??? Coupon or no coupon, I'm only giving Aloha Kitchen two stars, one for the ambiance of the place, it's very clean, open and inviting, and one for the Mac Salad which I enjoyed! Now, off to the store to buy a pork butt so I can satisfy my craving for some GOOD Kahlua pork!

I paid $10 for six slices of Portuguese sausage, 1 scrambled egg, and two balls of rice... Not family style portions, that's for sure. Nothing special here unless you like overpriced rice and scrambled eggs. What a rip off. Huge profit margins for the business though. They opened in 09 and it was our first and last time going. Should have listened to other reviews. Oh and the "daily specials" are regular priced. How is this place still open?

Just waited 35 minutes for one piece of Guava Cake to go..... We waited patiently and asked the server twice but yet still no cake. It's not like the cake still needed to be baked, at any time the server could have also brought it out. I get places are busy especially during the lunch hour but 35 minutes to cut a piece of cake and put in a to go box???? C'mon now Aloha, seriously?!?

This is the perfect slice of Hawaii in Silverdale. All the food you remember and the service with aloha.

I lived in hawaii for about 5 years. This restaurant was refreshing to find. Ill start off by saying the staff were friendly and completely amazing. I asked for a hawaiian dish that was not served "fried rice omlette". They said they would ask the cook who said that she would make it for me. It was just as i remembered. Delicious. I had a little bit of everyones food as we were a party of 5 and it was all very good. I definately recommend this to anyone.
(5)Hollie S.
This was sooooo good!!! First time here and was gonna get it to go but was too hungry to wait. The waitress was extremely nice and was fine with us eating in instead and even offered us water for dining in. We had the musubi which was amazing and the teriyaki beef that melted in your mouth. I had the Kalua nachos which were a little greasy but filling. For sure coming back for the musubi and the beef!
(5)Dustin B.
Truthful I was disappointed. The spare ribs look like they had been sitting in a slow cooking for 4 day. Plus the chicken had so much fat on it I Dont know if it was really chicken. It doesn't look like I will be going back.
(2)Robbie T.
First time there , I ordered Sweet n sour spare ribs. for take out. This dish is cooked in crock pot, so about half my ribs had no meat on them ,way to much fat on the rest & to soupy. very disappointed .the ribs were about the size of my pinkie. my dogs were happy bones for dinner. I thru half away . $11.29 The Macaroni salad was good, staff was nice.

Only place in town to eat island food that I a wear the of. The food is very good the people are always nice and helpful.. My friend and I visit there often because they offer IP friendly meals...and the place is clean...

Today my boyfriend and I experienced less than satisfactory service at Aloha Kitchen, we come here often but this was our first time going after the move in location. We were seated promptly, and asked for our drink orders, we gave them and had begun giving our waiter our appetizer orders when he just walked away. We shrugged that off then ordered our appetizers (6 piece Lumpia, 2 Spam Musubis), along with our meal orders ( Kalua Pork and Cabbage, Breakfast Fried Rice) the next time he came around. Our appetizers came out at the same time that one of our meals came. After waiting until the very next time our waitress came out of the back (By that time all of the one meal we received had been eaten) to ask about the missing meal, our waiter swore as he was about to hand us our check. He did cover the cost of the forgotten meal however, if he had written down our order, this mishap could've been completely preventable. Now for the food. The Kalua pork and cabbage is so great, and the Mac salad that comes with is the best I've ever tasted! The spam Musubis were also wonderful. The Fried rice has yet to be eaten and The pork Lumpia however seemed like it was just seasoned carrots in a Lumpia wrapper.

The food here is good but the service needs some improvement. The woman taking my order had a snappy attitude. I like their Loco Moco, and spam masubi.
(3)Jane S.
The staff is friendly and the food was ready pretty fast. My first experience tasting Hawaiian food was in Hawaii and I am pretty picky with quality meat so I do have a little higher standards. The meat didn't have flavor and Mac salad was too salty. Could improve with better quality meat.
(2)Erin B.
SUPER delicious! My daughter and I split an appetizer and the spare ribs. So much food and it was delightfully seasoned. The service was prompt and the restaurant clean. Can't wait to go back!
(5)Justin G.
This place is awesome! I've been to Hawaii and other island food joints and this is my fav. Good food for a good price and lots of it! Super super nice staff, have never ever had any problems at this place. This review will we short and sweet since I've pretty much said everything I can about it. Until we meet again Aloha kitchen I salute you!!!!
(5)Kauai C.
Just moved from Hawaii to Washington and was craving some local food. This place was terrible! The mochiko chicken was nasty and Barely had any chicken . I kept getting prices of just breaded fat. The Kalua pig tasted weird. Almost spoiled like. Sure enough my stomach has been nauseated since .... Not to mention the Aunty who worked there kept giving me stink eye then told me if I was ok. Like wtf so random! Super disappointed and won't ever go back
(1)Cody Z.
My favorite when I go here is the Mochico chicken and steamed rice, with a side of Spam musubi. Crispy, tender chicken pieces thats breaded in a sweet but thin batter. Put some Siracha on it to complete it! Very good Hawaiian food, friendly family environment with great service. A must go to eat!
(5)Chuck C.
Haven't eaten here in yrs and it hasn't changed much except their prices have gone up. I don't know how they stay in business. The mahi mahi and hull hull chicken were overcooked and dry. Not much salmon in the lomi. Macaroni salad not much taste. Large servings of mediocre food.. Kalua pork and cabbage tasty. Very good service though. Won't be returning any time soon. I'd rather eat at L&L in Federal Way or Teriyaki Delight in Silverdale for my Island fix..
(1)Samantha G.
It seems like Aloha Kitchen has mixed reviews, but for Kitsap County this place is pretty good. For lunch, I had the kalua pork with cabbage that also came with 2 scoops of rice and a scoop of mac salad. The kalua pork was kind of inconsistent where some bites were good and some bites tasted too smokey or dry. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the mac salad that was topped with some paprika. Its pretty comparable to Kawaii Family Kitchen up in Seattle. My date had the huli huli chicken, which I thought was weird since it was just pieces of chicken thigh instead of it looking like it was roasted whole then cut apart afterwards. I tried a piece of it and it was pretty good, although it wasn't the best I've had. Besides the mac salad, my favorite of the meal had to be the poke we split. It had decent sized chunks of fresh raw tuna seasoned with shoyu, sesame oil and sweet onions. I was pretty impressed with it since the reviews on this place were all over the map. Good food, friendly service....I wouldn't mind coming back here if I happen to be in the area.
(4)Kaos K.
Found this place while shopping at Ross. Just returned from Kona and the food is authenic local plate lunch. Will eat here again when we're in the area. Great service, very friendly, and clean. Highly recommend.
(5)Evan C.
The food here is amazing and the staff are very friendly. Also the price is something totally worth it.
(5)Michael B.
Been here a couple of times for dinner. The Mahi Mahi tasted okay, but looked bland. Very bland. Like an ordinary piece of salmon. The Huli Huli chicken was the exact opposite. Looked like ordinary fried chicken pieces, but tasted amazing. The one thing that stays consistent is the quality of their fries. Not a mac salad fan, so I typically replace it. The fries are crinkle-cut, which is a dead giveaway to their origin. It always seems like they never cook their fries long enough. I'll have to ask for them to be cooked a little longer next time. The Hawaiian aesthetic is obvious, but thankfully not overdone. Tables are spaced out, so you don't have to brush against people to get to your table. Haven't had a problem with the service either. It's a nice place for a quiet dinner, but I haven't seen the stage in the corner of the restaurant in use yet. Maybe one day.
(3)Ashley L.
Love their mochiko chicken, but it sucks when I order to-go and they never ask if I want the dipping sauce... When I dine-in, no problem. They always ask, but not take out. Partially my fault for not asking, I'm forgetful. AHAH!
(4)Alexis S.
I would rate this place a 0 but I can't this is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to in silverdale the food was horrible and the service never going back to this place ever
(1)Ollie A.
Great place.. great food.. great people!.. my favorite is the big saimin and huli huli chicken..! Live music occasionally that is awesome!.
(5)Joann R.
I did not like the taste of the food or better yet to say the lack of taste; I had the Pork Lau Lau plate. I have been to Hawaii multiple times and I asked if the taste was similar to the pork service in the Island, there response was yes but not at all. Nothing to compare to.
(1)Rhonda B.
Food is inconsistent. When it's good it's great, but when it's bad, it's in edible. Kianna makes the experience amazing. Manager is apathetic when things are wrong. Still go in at least once a month. Khalua pork is wonderful. Fried rice is to die for. Sweet and sour ribs were so salty I couldn't eat them.
(4)John R.
Had a guy from work leaving and he chose this place as his favorite to have a group lunch. I'm surprised that this was a favorite because of the high prices and subpar service. The food was delicious but overpriced for my wallet. When the appetizers are as expensive as the entrees there's something wrong. And, when seating 8 people you expect slower service because of the numbers but we only had our drinks refilled once. Then we all had to line up at the register to get out of there. Doubt I'll be back even if the food was good.
(2)Melissa G.
Good stuff. Expensive Ahi poke and small portion. Employees are great and friendly
(4)Michael G.
Pretty nice having a "local" place to go to right on the penisula but it wasn't great. It wasn't bad, by any means... but it wasn't great. Had the "chili frank" aka a couple hotdogs seared and then throw into some chili and accompanied by the standard rice and macaroni salad. Perhaps I sabotoged myself by not realizing the chili would have beans (which I hate) but it lacked a... zing. Calling it bad wouldn't be fair... it could be great with better quality chili. The mac salad lacked a... pop, if you will, it tasted like one analougous, neutral flavor throughout. Nothing stood out, kind of reminded me of Poi... it fills you up but doesn't really have a taste. Don't know that I'd go back and definitely wouldn't go out of my way. 3 stars for a friendly server, reminding me of the actual Islands.
(3)Chris B.
Sometimes the best food comes from within a strip mall. In the case of really good Hawaiian food, Aloha Kitchen makes that a reality. Aloha Kitchen is a no frills place that is serving up all the taste of the islands in Silverdale. They offer all kind of candies and sodas only found on the islands but more importantly they are making all those classics you have come to love from Hawaii. I ordered the SWEET 'N SOUR SPARE RIBS that are Aloha Style Spare Ribs Slow Cooked and it came with steamed white rice and macaroni salad. I added an order or pork lumpia and a can of Hawaiian Sun, so good! The Spare ribs were so tender, the macaroni was the classic creamy style from the islands and the lumbia was amazing. This is a must if you are missing a taste of the islands and the prices are reasonable as well
(4)Karlen S.
Thank you, Aloha Kitchen for bringing a piece of home to Silverdale! This is down home cooking from Hawai'i done right. I ate at Aloha Kitchen recently with a colleague. He had the Huli Huli chicken--it was the perfect combination of sweet and smoky. I had the lau lau plate and ate every last bite. It was soo good! I can't wait to come back and try more!

While I am no expert in Hawaiian food and can't speak to its authenticity, I have generally had a pleasant experience dining at Aloha Kitchen. It served as my go-to restaurant when I was seeking a slight change of pace and it still may in the future - I just won't be coming here very often. When Aloha Kitchen first opened, I was hesitant to check it out. It looked like a teriyaki shop under the guise of Hawaiian cuisine. This "teriyaki" feel is further magnified by the location of Aloha Kitchen, squeezed in near a Verizon store and other retail outlets. When I eventually got around to stopping in, I was surprised at the quality of food and the friendly atmosphere. This was a place I would be returning to. Fast forward to today and my initial impression of Aloha Kitchen has diminished a bit. While I still think the food is decent, it has gone down quite a bit based on my most recent visit. My favorite dish - the kalbi short ribs - used to be tender, flavorful, and plentiful. The mac salad had a great mellow flavor and consistency and the rice was the perfectly sticky and moist. My last visit revealed what I have been reading in other reviews to be true. The kalbi was tougher and definitely not as flavorful. The mac salad was bland and tasted like mayonnaise and the rice had an unusual consistency. It wasn't a bad meal, but the quality has obviously taken a serious dive. I don't know the owners or staff of this restaurant, but - like many teriyaki shops - it feels as if they aren't trying as hard now that they've established a presence in the area. The amount of food they dish up on your plate has remained consistent but it's hard to justify paying $15-ish dollars when you're getting "meh" quality food, even in good quantity. A final note - the wait staff has remained friendly and walks the fine line of "there, but not there" quite well.

Good loco moco, spam masubi, and Mac salad. Will be coming back, price is awesome too!

I have eaten here several times. Each time food was good. I thought maybe they could cater an upcoming event I have planned!? So I went to the website and filled out the catering contact information with all of the upcoming events information. I waited 3 days and never heard back from them. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, thinking surely they will get back to me. I decided to call them the fourth day after I gave them my information. I was put in touch with the owner. Her and I talked about budget, and then she quickly told me she would send me an email with come catering options. So she took all of my contact information and told me she would get the info to me. It has now been over a week since I have heard tried contacting them and still nothing. What this says to me is that my event is not important to them. Maybe I wasn't willing to spend as much money as they want, who knows. All I can say is that it is unprofessional. Needless to say if I were to hear back from them I wouldn't be the least bit interested in trusting them to do the catering from me. I wouldn't feel like I could rely on them after the lack of communication.
(2)S. Rene' P.
Today my laulau was great! The staff was extremely friendly! Im glad I gave this place a 2nd chance.
(4)Philip O.
This is a nice little restaurant in a strip mall that really has the taste of Hawaii, they even have Spam on the menu so you know it is legit! They serve up a classic Hawaiian Plate Lunch with your choice of meat along side scoops of rice and Hawaiian mac salad. The food is consistent but the mac salad can be a little bland at times. The service is great and the place is clean. Recommend the Shoyu Chicken!
(4)Alan N.
I went here with no expectations. Pre-reading all the comments really gave me no insight since they were so polarized. It seems you either love it or hate it here. I ordered the special which was thinly sliced beef, dipped in egg and flour. It came with the rice and macaroni salad. I did hear great things about the macaroni salad and while it was decent it did NOT live up to the hype. Everything else just tasted like Teriyaki and was rather bland. All in all, the food was OK and the serving size was good but the price was exorbitant especially for lunch. In a nut shell I probably won't be coming back anytime soon.

we just moved to the area, so i am trying to eat at as many different places as we can! the service was pretty bad. otherwise this would be a solid 4 star rating. we were seated fairly quickly, but the waitress knew the two table sat behind us, so we waited and waited and waited, all while the other TWO tables ordered, received food and had multiple lengthy personal conversations. we didn't even have water, and the other parties were already eating! i thought about getting up and leaving, but the food that was coming out looked so good, so i just waited it out. finally someone came by and took our order. my husband had the loco moco and i had the nachos with mango salsa. the loco was good (i would have liked it better if he would have ordered it with spam, but that's just me) the nachos were -really- good. the homemade chips were outstanding! i could eat these everyday. fresh, delicious, perfectly fried. loved it. we will probably go back because the food was pretty delicious. hopefully the service will be better next time so i can give an updated review :)
(3)Lawrence M.
The ambience of this restaurant is great. Very Hawaiian style. The food has very good portions and it is also exceptional. I had the Huli Huli chicken and spam musubi. Although I've only been here once, I did enjoy this place
(4)Lei L.
Was visiting friends in Silverdale and we all came here for lunch. Great food. The sweet-sour spare ribs were really good. My husband and I shared a lunch plate. The portions are pretty big and everything tasted really good. We also bought some Pineapple and Passion Fruit wine from their novelty section. We had a baby with us and there is a lot of room for the stroller to sit in the aisle.
(4)Jeff B.
Great service and tasty food (especially the mac salad) at a reasonable price. My daughter and I had the huli huli chicken, two scoops rice and one scoop mac salad with a side of fries. All was exceptional. Of note, they serve beer as well- they have freakin' Primo, bruddah! We'll be back soon!
(4)Reesa T.
I've been fortunate in life to pick up a thing or two about Hawaiian food and know that is some yummy yummy stuff. I like Aloha Kitchen- I do. Kitsap desperately needs small, locally owned places and fare that is not... well... just like everything else! Aloha kitchen is just that. Coming home to visit family is always such a drag when it comes to what to eat- this is a bright and shining star in that respect. My concerns with Aloha are the same as addressed by others in terms of consistency. In a way I find it endearing that the food does not always taste the same as it did the time before. This is how I cook at home in my own kitchen. At the same time, just like when I cook at home- sometimes things are less delicious than other times. For a restaurant, this can be dangerous. Additionally I have to say- they're menu could use a little more attention to non-meat options. I know- here I go again. Still, maybe some fish? Maybe not. Service-wise this is an incredibly friends and personable place to go! They will make you feel welcome even if you're getting take out. They do cultural events as well- or at least they did last time i was in town- another thing desperately needed in Kitsap! Family owned and operated really seems to permeate the business and the service lives up to this. Lastly- I do not like Macaroni salad, I never have and have always found it a turn off. Aloha Kitchen's Macaroni salad is the only exception I've found and enjoy.
(3)Jennifer A.
This is one of my faves in silver dale, this place had great food both times I went. I don't have other authentic restaurants to compare to but this is palatable, friendly service, and bright atmosphere . I had a breakfast meal the first time (and came out feeling ultra energetic, I went in after being sick, the food -and service literally nourished me back to health). I love it.
(5)Stephanie K.
The food is AMAZING! Just moved here a year ago and have been trying several places. This is by far my favorite around the corner joint. The food is delicious. The macaroni salad is yummy! Go try!
(5)Jorge N.
The past few visits here show a downward trend in the taste of the dishes. I don't know what's going on, but the last visit was, at best, mediocre. I've taken this place of my list of monthly restaurant visits. I hope things change soon...
(3)Dinha M.
Our family loves this restaurant. After going to one of their music nights, we now consider ourselves regulars. The music was so great I would have paid a cover price to see them. Food is delicious, my favorite is the Huli Huli chicken with a side of kimchi. The staff is always friendly and welcoming.
(5)Andrew P.
Love the loco moco, kalua pork, and musubi. They also have bingo on Thursday nights that my wife likes to go to.
(4)Jason R.
Loved this place. I haven't been in Hawaii for two years. Just happened to see this place while driving by and tried it out. I had the Kailua Pork and was so ono! Not greasy at all. Rice and mac salad was good too. My mother had the Kailua quesadilla and she said her mango salsa was the best shes ever had. The atmosphere was perfect too. I wish this place was closer to where I currently live (Alabama) but when I'm in town to visit my family I will definitely be stopping buy. Mahalo.
(5)Chris A.
I really, really, really wanted to love this place. I visit my folks 1 to 2 times a month and was excited to see a Hawaiian food place in Silverdale. The people and service is pretty good, and they seem to have the right selection of dishes and drinks..... But the food wasn't as delicious as I thought it would have been. In fact it seemed overpriced for the quality. I tried the loco moco and the pork and cabbage with some Hawaiian Sun guava drink and it wasn't as good as Kona Kitchen or even L&L in Seattle. Needless to say I was pretty bummed. Even my folks and siblings (who all lived in Hawaii as well) weren't impressed. The food isn't bad just not as delicious as Hawaiian food can be.
(3)Michael F.
Not family friendly. My wife and I went here for lunch with our almost 2 year old son. We were seated promptly but the high chair was the most child friendly portion of our visit. They had no milk or juice and no Kids menu. We left before placing our order. Being a restaurant in a military town, I am surprised they didn't have better accommodations for families.
(1)Alice S.
The definition of 5-stars is "as good as it gets," and, as of now, Aloha Kitchen is as good as it gets for Hawaiian food in Kitsap county. They're always good for friendly service, and I'm a big fan of their musubi. My husband always gets the mochinko chicken or lau lau, and I tend to stick to the loco moco. It's a local, family restaurant, and you definitely get that vibe. I remember going when they first opened, and their decor and food have steadily been improving. (Their mac salad went from downright bland to my favorite mac salad!) They're great for feeding a Hawaiian food fix. The best way to describe it is comfort food cooked from a friend's kitchen -- if you have higher expectations, you'll have to try someplace else or go across the water. I also think that it's super cute that they let the local ukulele group practice there.
(5)Jessica B.
What a find! So happy that friends recommended this place. Everything we tried was delicious! Considering the lack of variety of really yummy places in the area, we felt the prices were appropriate. Very friendly and speedy service. Might be our new favorite place in town!!
(5)Mary Kate C.
Honestly, it wasn't bad... it was just blah. To be fair, if my husband were writing this review he would probably give it 3 stars. But I will not go back here. The pulled pork sandwhich that got was just your average pulled pork, and it was served on the cheapest hamburger bun possible. Husband got some rice bowl with groundbeef, and although he liked it he admitted that it was average. The only reason this place even gets the second star is because the service was great and very friendly, and I suppose that counts for something.
(2)Erin O.
My favorite spot for local food outside of Hawaii! Their Poke is BOMB! Eat here! I promise you will not be disappointed. Their pork Laulau tastes like being in the Islands! Service is fast and friendly!
(5)J. M.
My husband and I were not impressed. We walked in and were unsure whether or not we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated so we waited at the front. After a few seconds, a server finally acknowledged us and came over to tell us to "sit wherever!" We should have left that very moment but I had wanted to try this place for a while so we chose a booth and sat down. The high chair we requested came covered in what looked like weeks of sticky food. I wouldn't sit in such a dirty chair so I certainly wasn't putting my toddler into it. I then went out to my car to grab our stroller. I suppose this didn't sit well with the group of staff and friends sitting towards the back that were staring at us with disgust. We had already ordered our food by this point so we just settled in and waited. I wish I could tell you that the food was worth all of the above but it was not. Everything tasted like mush, flavorless mush at that. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant and we will never be back.
(1)L A.
Born and raised a Hawaiian on Oahu, I spent the last six years in North Carolina where my father would send me care packages to stave off my local gindz need. I survived making my own kalua pig, spam musubi, Huli Huli chicken and even meat jun. When I moved to Washington I was so happy to see Hawaiian people, food and fare again. As a local I only eat L & L on extreme circumstances, I prefer my tutu's kalua pig, my dad's lau lau and my uncles ulu. L & L to me, is not good local food. I was so happy to see Aloha Kitchen. I immediately ordered Spam Musubi, kalua pig and poi. The nori is off on the spam, but it still quenched my needs. Everyone talks about how friendly the owner is, but of the 10 times I've been there the staff has always been slightly cold and no one has tried to talk story to me. Prices are good, staff is okay, I love the music and the Merrie monarch videos ... but like I said, I've never felt welcomed there and the food is so-so. I'd much rather have Aloha kitchen than nothing at all and I still go for my spam musubi fixes and my occasional need for poi.
(3)Lisa R.
3.5 stars. Food is generally good, but quality can vary greatly. Rice can be buckshot, soggy, or anywhere in between. Saimin noodles are great, but dashi goes from super bland to ultra salty. Prices can be high for some things. Happy hour is great, and the poke tastes fresh.
(4)Christine R.
I give it 3 stars for the kine atmosphere... but I should really give it 2 stars for the quality of food. I have lived in the Central Kitsap area for 2 years and was very surprised that with as many islanders that they have living out here they did not have a quality island type restaurant near by. I've enjoyed L&L, Ohana's and other little joints in Seattle. I went here on a recommendation of a former coworker. I ordered my usual favs- lau lau plate, spam musubi, and the loco moco. I decided to take it to go, because the place was packed (and I thought if it was packed it must be good). I was surprised when I tasted the food.... if you've read my reviews before.. Spam musubi and I go waaay back.. I've had it at nearly every restaurant or joint that sells it.. so i know good from the bad.. and this was bad!! The rice was super dry, there was no sauce.. and the spam.. my beloved spam... had no taste to it whatsoever!! The lau lau was dry.. and the loco moco had no taste to it. I hate wasting food, but this was an instance where I let my $20 go down the drain didn't finish eating a single bite.

There is nothing like authentic Hawaiian mac salad. As long as the Aloha Kitchen is in Silverdale, I will never buy mac salad at a grocery store. My family loves the ahi poke, lomi salmon, shoyu chicken, huli huli chicken, and kalua pork. The staff is always kind, but never "in your face." If we take time to ask questions or talk story, they will respond happily. On days when we are quiet, they leave us be. True Hawaiian attitude - friendly and hospitable. -1 star because on one recent trip they were out of the food my husband really wanted.

Well since this is my first review I should be kind, but I not. I'm a tough food critic, mainly because I was trained as a chef and Hawaiian regional cuisine is my specialty . As a Hawaii transplant to Kitsap county, I was surprised that their wasn't a Hawaiian Style Plate Lunch place on the peninsula, much to my delight I heard about Aloha Kitchen from my cousin. My wife and I often lament about the lack of local- kine food in the Seattle area, we've been to L&L and a handful of other spots; but none seem to match quality that we came to expect back in the islands. To satisfy my cravings for plate lunches I would often have to stop into the Teriyaki joints that litter the strip malls on the Kitsap Peninsula Scarred from a previous experience at a supposed "Hawaiian Plate" joint in East Bremerton, my expectations were high. My wife call me the harshest critic she knows when it comes to Hawaiian food, and I should since I once worked for Alan Wong. We arrived at Aloha Kitchen, the Wednesday after they first opened, for lunch, The first thing I noticed was that it wasn't the Aloha Kitchen I expected ( Aloha Kitchen is a chain in Las Vegas). Slightly disappointed but undeterred I eagerly anticipated the dining experience. We walked into the not so busy dining area and we promptly greeted and seated. My wife commented on the decor and the ambiance of the restaurant, mostly that the music was from the early 1990's, it was eerily similar plans that we had for our restaurant one day . She also noticed that the tables and chairs didn't match, and that our particular table wobbled slightly. Our server arrived about 5 minutes after we were seated (which was too long considering that there were 3 servers and only 6 occupied tables). And the first thing she tells us is whats not on the menu, proudly proclaiming that they been out of particular items since the day they opened. (Yikes!). What's worse is that our server had no knowledge of Hawaiian food, or even how to pronounce many of the items on the menu, a shame if you ask me, since many people I know have no knowledge of Hawaiian Cuisine or associate it with sweet and sour or teriyaki flavors. After giving our server a quick lesson on how to pronounce Lau-Lau and Luau and the difference between the two, my wife and I proceeded to order. Since lau-lau wasn't available (a Hawaiian standard, if i even suspect it's the pre-made frozen variety found in many Asian food stores, it goes back to the kitchen), and the server couldn't tell me if it was made fresh daily or imported, I opted for the Kalua pork plate. My wife ordered the bento plate, with grilled Mahi-Mahi, teriyaki chicken and Spam musubi. Now, we have a standard to which all Hawaiian Plate Lunches are measured, the quality of the mac salad, the portions, and quality of the kalua pork/ Lau-lau. Unfortunately our expectations fell short, the mac salad had egg (which I wished I had known beforehand, since I am allergic to eggs). The portions were small and actually I was put off by the fact they used the wrong cut of meat to make the kalau pork as it was dry and tasteless (it should have a savory/ smoky/ salty taste) . I was disappointed since it is a very simple dish that requires lots of time and patience to execute properly. My wife was equally disappointed, her teriyaki chicken was dry, the mahi was overcooked and sickly looking, and the Spam was tiny, like half a slice of Spam, cut paper thin. Whats worse is that my wifes dish didn't come with mac salad or tartar sauce for the mahi. The highlight of my experience was hearing my wife complain about how the food was plated. Classic! It was sad because all the food looked the same, in varying shades of brown and white. I think my wife almost cried in disappointment. Needless to say my experience wasn't a pleasant one, The wait staff was inexperienced and disorganized, once the food was delivered she never once come to check on us, and when she did I just wanted a check, which she couldn't find. I finally just went to the counter to pay for our meal, and when asked by the owner how the food was I didn't have to heart to say it sucked, in retrospect maybe I should have. Next time I have the urge to have Hawaiian food I'll do it from the comfort of my own home. Useless I'm on the road then I'll hit up my usual suspects in Federal Way (Pac-Island Grill), Everett (Bobby's), and Kauai Family in Seattle.

FINALLY! Da Kine decent plate lunch comes to Kitsap County WA! I am a HUGE fan of good Teriyaki, but I've missed the traditional plate lunch you can only find on the Islands. My favorite used to be The Kim Chee II over in Kaimuki. Now I don't have to drive so far!...2 scoops rice, macaroni salad, and whatever main dish your Hawaiian heart desires! The food was great, the service Island-friendly!...The only thing missing was shaved ice!

The Aloha staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is very good and authentic Hawaii style. The Longboard beer is a find. Go and enjoy!

Great place! We were seated immediately and shortly after had our orders taken. There was a birthday party going on however we received our food very quick. You'll get generous portions here and at a good price. The spam musubi was good too, it was a little sweeter than what I'm used to but still good! Will come back again. Thanks for the great service!

Great food, fast service, clean venue, friendly staff. I am a military brat who spent most of my childhood in Hawaii, but have not been back for several years. This place provides me a wonderful, authentic taste of home. I highly recommend the Kalua Pork and Cabbage. My family and I visit this restaurant frequently

I use yelp constantly when I'm traveling to find good local food. This place was not good - at all. I usually only go for four stars or higher but this place was close to my hotel so I ignored the three-ish stars. First, they've been in their current minimall location for six months and still don't have a roadside sign. I had to circle twice to find it. Ordered the Huli Huli plate which comes with two scoops rice, one scoop mac salad. To get two scoops mac and one scoop rice will cost you an additional $2.25. The food came faster than you can cook chicken so it was clearly not made to order but already done. When I got in the car the overwhelming scent was of cafeteria food and back at the hotel it was so mediocre. The chicken was off-color brown, the skin still on, the mac salad mealy, the rice overlooked. I'm giving it two stars for simply being a Hawaiian restaurant. Love Hawaiian places, just not this one.

Being Hawaiian and growing learning most of these dishes myself, this place is pretty dang authentic! Let me start by saying the service is amazing!! The few times I have been in there, my group sat down quickly and drinks were brought out right after we ordered. Also, a co worker and I stopped in for lunch and was in a hurry, so we called in and put in a order to eat there. It was awesome! We get there and sit right down, eat our food and get a guava cake to go! In and out in 15 min. Pupus (appetizers): The spam musubi is awesome and great presentation. Lomi salmon is salted just right and I like mine with very finely diced tomatoes and theres meets my standards. My personal favorite is the ahi poke! Great job with this dish, not to much shoyu, so the salt doesn't kill the taste of the fish! Main Dishes: The mochiko chicken is to die for! I get it every time I come in. I make my own and the breading just isn't the same as Aloha Kitchens! Another favorite is the what I call a "heart attack" waiting to happen. The loco moco dish is always good! if your looking for a hang over cure, this is your dish! This dish is Rice, two beef patties on top of the rice, over easy eggs on top of the patties; all smothered in brown gravy! Growing up always eating ramen and still do, the ramen dishes are really good. Like I have said in another review, its all about the broth! Not sure how they do it but the broth is super good! Definitely cannot go wrong with spam, eggs, wontons, and green onions in your soup! I noticed this last time I went in, they have an ideal protein menu! I though this to be pretty cool, since I know Hawaiian food definitely is not the healthiest. Guava Cake is the best I have ever had!! Now for the reason this place is a 4 and not a 5 star review. Call me picky but the mac salad is just ok. This may be a lame reason for not a 5/5 review but mac salad to me, should not taste like you just mixed noodles and mayo, then dress it with a little pepper on top to make it look like you added seasoning. Other than that, I high recommend this place, they do a really good job of making authentic Hawaiian food!!

Last time I was here was in 2011, when they were still in the bigger building in the Chuck E. Cheese area of Silverdale. Now they are in the Ross Plaza, in a smaller building. Since it had been 4 years, I decided to give them another shot. I like the space they are in much better. It feels more comfortable to sit in, so I do like that they have moved. Their prices seem better than before, much more wallet friendly. And the 3 times I have gone, the service is a lot nicer than I remember, and everything came quickly and with a smile. We have gone between lunch and dinner usually, when it's not that busy. When I go, I share a combo plate with extra rice with a friend (which is PLENTY to share, and a good deal). I've had the Kalua Pork (with and without cabbage), the Huli Chicken, and the Hamburger Patty with Gravy. All of which were good, and I would get again. Their rice has improved, it's cooked well and flavorful. The mac salad is also good. The only thing I got that I didn't particularly like was the Sweet and Sour Spareribs. They have a very Filipino taste to them, and if you aren't used to it, or like Filipino food then I wouldn't recommend it. They seemed to have improved over the years, so I would make this a more regular destination for me if I am in Silverdale.

Like being back on the island. Always get "Da Massive" size. You'll have plenty for the next day.

The best Hawaiian good ever! Wife had the Huli huli chicken and I had the Hawaiian beef. The flavor was amazing the staff were friendly and the prices were fair. We will definitely be back!

I found this great place while out with my son, he was having a bad day and bad attitude. We came in and were immediately greeted with that Aloha spirit, we ordered spam musibi, Huli Huli chicken, and kaluha pork. As soon as my 6 yo son took a bite out of his musibi his attitude changed and said " mom I forgot how good Hawaiian food is", his Huli Huli was the best he had and even said its better than his aunts in Hawaii. Thank you for helping me make such a big change to a little guy.

Food is pretty good but didn't blow me away. Staff is friendly. I like the restaurant. It appears clean and lots of parking. There is a Ross in the same plaza.
(4)Abigail S.
The place is alright! Tried the kalua pork and cabbage it was under seasoned. Didn't enjoy it at all! The huli huli chicken is good. Prolly won't go back here!!
(2)Alaina C.
I love the Ideal Protein menu options. The pork is my favorite. They make cabbage taste good!?!? They make a divine (approved) salad dressing and serve a ip free salad with the entrees. My family likes the spam that comes with some dishes. They always comment on how tender the meat dishes are. Rice is always perfect. Super friendly staff and love watching the hula competitions on their tv.
(5)Buck B.
Love da food, it's da best kine! Service our last couple of visits have been amazing! Super friendly to our kids.

It was my first time eating here as we stopped for lunch before making our casino run :p. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and very festive! Enjoyed looking at the mural we were sitting by. The service was friendly, fast, and efficient. Love that the food doesn't have MSG. I tried the "Big Island Saimin" and my dad and grandpa shared the "Huli Huli Style Chicken". The saimin is decently sized for ~ $9. The broth was not too salty and the noodles were fresh. The chicken was moist, tender, & flavorful and the mac salad was pretty rich but complemented the chicken. We had a positive experience overall and enjoyed the food this restaurant has to offer! Left feeling very full & satisfied.

Pretty good food. We moved here from Maui and miss Da Kitchen in Kahului... This place is a not too distant 2nd place to them... In fact the Kalua pork was better as was the Mac salad. Nice atmosphere, decent prices ... We'll come back!
(4)Ben P.
Very happy this is here. Given that it's the only Hawaiian BBQ in the area, and given some of the iffy reviews here, I was a little hesitant, but then so very pleased when we were through. I had: Kalua pork sandwich, lomi salmon. She had: huli huli chicken plate lunch. All were: outstanding. To those complaining about portion sizes not being big enough, all I can say is, whoa, maybe put the fork down once in a while. My sandwich + mac salad was a reasonable sized meal, but the plate lunch (as all good plate lunches should be) was enough food for two people. You want more than that? Good gravy. The prices are higher here than at, say, an L&L, but like I said, it's the only game in town, and when you want delicious grilled meat, two scoops rice, one scoop mac, this is where you have to go.
(4)Ian L.
Good eats at a low price! The food was genuine and tastey, up beat staff and is a welcome change from all the chain resturaunt waiting and poor service. Don't expect too much though, this is not a place that has a standard or much competition. Also, my friend i brought is from Hawaii and he gives it a thumbs up for being genuine hawaiian fast food

Upon moving back to Washington from San Diego, I was excited to hear that a Hawaiian restaurant opened up. Before, when I craved some Hawaiian fare I had to go to Seattle, so having the option to just drive 10 minutes from home seemed ideal. I went in wanting one thing; Chicken Katsu. I looked over their menu and did not see it on there. I figured I must have overlooked it so I asked the gal behind the counter if they have it. To my shock, she said no but that they did have something similar and that it was called Mochiko Chicken. It's boneless marinated chicken dusted with Asian rice flour and it came with macaroni salad and rice. I was not a fan. Maybe it was because it was nothing like Chicken Katsu which was what I was craving on that day or maybe it was because it was dry and needed some kind of sauce (probably both to be honest) but it just did not appeal to my liking. I came here one other time and got the Kalua Nachos. It was pretty good but I doubt i'd order it again. Something about the mango salsa...Anyways, it's a good space inside and I guess they have events there sometimes which is cool. They also sell some Hawaiian products near the register like Lihing Powder which is awesome.

This place has such amazing food! Very flavorful and great priced! The environment is relaxed and the staff are so kind. We used them to cater our engagement party we held at the park on a nice sunny day, it was great! Everyone loved the food and it was eaten up so fast. If you are looking for something different to eat with good quality food, this is a good place to come. I need to go back soon, especially since i have the kitsap card with a great deal in it!
(5)Jessica C.
I have been here three times in the past year and have never been disappointed! They have friendly service and the food is great! The first time I ordered the Kalua Nachos. I love the homemade chips and mango salsa! The past two times I have ordered the Mochiko Chiken. Super good! You get quite a bit of chicken plus it comes with two scoopes of rice and a scoop of macaronni salad. I always have left overs. The Pass O Guava juice and guava cake are also delish! Plus, I love supporting a small, local business :)

Meh......eating here made me sad. I'm such a huge fan of L&L that when I heard a Hawaiian BBQ was in Silverdale, i had to try it. That being said, this place just didn't do it for me. I ordered the kalua pork with cabbage, spam musubi and an extra scoop of macaroni salad. The pork was decent but nothing to write home about. They provided about half the amount you would normally get elsewhere. The cabbage served with the plate was cut into too large of pieces, cooked too long and included big heel pieces that should have been thrown away. The nori on the musubi tasted like it had been made early in the morning and left out all day. Everything else was just mediocre.
(3)Kapua P.
this place is mediocre at best. at first when we went there it was awesome, the food was decent and the poke was plentiful. one time i went there and got the sweet and sour ribs but it wasn't even ribs! it was pork chunks with pineapple with the pineapple being more plentiful than the meat! my mom had saimin and the soup was cold. i once had their breakfast and the Portuguese sausage was barely cooked and tasted weird and the eggs i ordered wasn't even scrambled. it was like they put the egg on the grill and half assed scrambled it. i don't eat macaroni salad but my family does and they don't like it. their spam musubi's aren't very good infact i've made better ones when i was 10 than this place. i haven't been back there in months so i don't know how it is now but my mom has said that they're doing worst. the prices went up and the quality/amount went down. but from the second time i went there i decided this was not a great place to eat. Cafe Hawaii was the best Hawaiian restaurant up here and it's a shame that they closed down.

I'd been a little hesitant to try Aloha Kitchen since I had heard such mixed reviews, but I finally decided to give it a try for lunch a few weeks ago. I've tried four or five different things since then and always find the food delicious, the service extremely quick, and the price very reasonable. My favorite is the kalua pork, which can occasionally be a little salty, but is absolutely delicious. Some of our friends from Hawaii say one of their main complaints is that for the price you don't get the same quantity that you would back home. I can't comment on that, but I do know that for $8 I get a big enough plate to make two meals, which is a good enough deal for this cheapskate. This place is slowly making its way into our regular lunch and dinner rotation.
(4)Connie S.
I just had lunch and oh my...love it. It's my third visit. This is a required stop when visiting my parents in Silverdale. Walking in the door, we were treated like family. The food was great, especially the Poke. My only complaint would be to add more vegetable options on the menu. I'll be back on my next visit.
(5)Joseph J.
Ordered the shoyu chicken which was fine. Came with two scoops rice and mac salad - what else! But.... I have had better in Hawaii. My favorite plate lunch joints on Oahu seemed to have more spices in their shoyu chicken that Aloha Kitchen's seemed to lack, and this seems to be a common thread among the reviews so far. To go further than this would be to overanalyze the place, and I don't think this kind of cooking is meant to be taken too seriously. That said, I think this place is worth checking out if you want to try "local kine grinds" like they eat in Hawaii. It is a nice break from the typical "teriyaki" joints found in the northwest that are all pretty much the same. One other thing, while there are other Hawaiian plate lunch joints in Seattle, this is the first one I've noticed that serves up the "aloha" that goes along with the food. That counts for something.

Like a few others here, my sister and I visited this little restaurant. We went on a Sun. (they close at 6 but many people kept coming - not sure why - so they stayed open). I ordered the Kahlua pork with cabbage and my sister had the pork sandwich. The prices were large for the size of the servings. My Kahlua pork was bland, brownish, with absolutely no taste whatsoever. Two helpings of white rice came with it (how can you mess that up?) and then the tasteless macaroni salad. Awful. My sister's sandwich was a small hamburger bun with a slap of pork on it and one dollop of macaroni salad. Enough said above about the pork and salad. What I really hate in restaurants is when a customer comes in, obviously known by either the workers or the owners, and that customer is loud, rude, obnoxious, and occupies everyone's time! That is exactly what happened here. In fact, the guy sat right behind me and laughed, at one point, so loud I thought my ear drum would shatter. Will NOT go back here - EVER.

I'm a frequent traveller to Silverdale with close ties ko Hawai`i pae `aina. Always craving local food and culture I was very pleased to find The Aloha Kitchen open for business and did not delay my first visit, which was not a disappointment. I ordered fresh ahi poke and teriaki sticks for appetizers. The poke was very fresh and seasoned lightly, not too heavy on the shoyu. I ordered kalbi ribs with kimchee, 2 scoops rice and mac salad...all every bit as good as my favorite HI plate lunch place on Salt Lake Bl near Pearl Harbor, Soons BBQ. My dining companion ordered a combo plate that included lau-lau, huli huli chicken, lomi lomi salmon, kalua pork a generous piece of mahi mahi, rice and mac salad; all were reported very good. The Staff are friendly and service is quick. I spent a little time talking story with one of the owners whom I assured will see me again as often as I visit Silverdale. They also have a shelf stocked with local products to take home including guava jelly, Aloha brand Shoyu, a variety of crack seed and some other local kau kau. Ono grinds! Edit - 2 subsequent visits. Both return visits for dinner at Aloha Kitchen gave me an opportunity to talk story with the owners. Turns out Lori is from the Big Island and has Ohana near the town where our retirement hale will soon be built on our property between Keaau and Pahoa. As before, the ahi poke was very fresh and tender, the Firerock beers from Kona Brewing Co were cold, and the dinners, lau lau one night and a revisit of the kalbi ribs plate lunch the next left me full of ono chow and Aloha. As a bonus, I scored a jar of Guava Jelly and all the puakenikeni-scented votive candles on their shelf to take home. Mahalo nui, a me a hui hou!

I like this place - I've only been a couple times, but the food is good. I've never been to Hawaii so I can't say whether the food is authentic or not and I have to admit I've pretty much stuck with the spam dishes because I love spam. I've never had a problem with rice being hard or food being bland - the only food I wasn't crazy about was the kalua pork (it seemed a bit too salty and other than that, flavorless). I'm glad there's a place to get spam musubi around here - it used to be a treat when I went to Seattle - now I have a couple times a month. The guava cake is TO DIE FOR!! So good! One visit was on a Friday night with a friend - after nine on Friday and Saturday they have a limited menu, just a heads up, but that's not too bad when you'll be treated to live entertainment. Not sure about the other acts they had there, but the band we saw was pretty good.
(4)Miki M.
I really liked this place when they opened. But, what the darn happen??? We went the other night again, sorry to say, but it really was worst than the last time we went. We really didn't think that was possible. But they prove us wrong. I am not sure what happened to this wonderful place but they need to get their act back together along with their service staff. Your customers are paying guests. That pay your and their salary. Do you really think friends and cramp food is the way to go? Especially, when you started out fresh and different along with wonderful.

seems a little over priced for what it is. paying over 7 bills for some SPAM.... not for me

tasty Hawaiian home cookin'! the kalua pork was excellent!

As the other reviews state, we really needed a Hawaiian Style restaurant in Kitsap County. Since the one in Port Orchard closed years ago, all we've had were the Yobo teriyaki places. I ordered the hamburger steak plate and lau lau plates. When the food came I caught a wiff of liquid smoke, hmmm neither hamburger steak nor lau lau suppose to have liquid smoke in it. Wrong on my part, the lau lau was super dry, there was no fat to help moisten it, the pork was dry and it was only wrapped with a couple of luau leaves and it had liquid smoke in it. I'm not sure where they got their recipe from, got to be Tyler Florence from the Cooking Channel. The hamburger patties (2) were nice size, almost like mini meat loafs with grilled onions on top (I scored, I heard from others that the patties were small on their orders and never have onions) and gravy. It was alright, but the hamburger had a weird spice in it, and the texture was more like hot dog filling. The meat must have gone through a fine grinder. Another time I ordered the squid luau. It was alright, but the luau leaf needed to cook longer, it had a weird yellow tinge to it and the squid (which suppose to be octopus/he'e) was idako (mini octopus). If you want the Hawaii transplants in Kitsap County to support your restaurant, please, please, please take a look at your recipes. We need your restaurant to do well, we are all looking for ono local food.
