"Cozy neighborhood spot that consistently delivers in both food and service." Tucked away in the city of Shoreline is a small restaurant/bar that is a local favorite. Hill's offers great American Fares and is an excellent laid back Sunday brunch spot. I have visited Hill's on a few occassions and find both food and service to be consistently fantastic. Brunch: Beignets: Fluffy pillowy doughs covered in powered sugar and served with strawberry jam. The serving portion is large enough to share however the first dish will make you want to keep the whole plate to yourself. Corn Beef Hash: Seasoned and tender bites of beef and potatoes served with toast and fried egg. This is a hearty dish and is very filling. The beef was very tasty and the potatoes had a nice crisp to it. The eggs were cooked to request and overall this is one of my favorite brunch dish. Dinner: Calamari: the calamari was crispy and each piece was fried to perfection. The lemon garlic aioli dipping sauce was simply delicious. Old Fashioned: excellent blend of bourbon, bitters, and simple syrup. Added bonus of having a bartender that knows how to make it. Special Cheesecake: New York Style Cheesecake topped with white chocolate shavings and garnished with strawberry sauce and whipped cream. Pure heaven served on a plate. My overall verdict, I would recommend this establishment for anyone seeking a nice brunch/dinner within the suburbs.

I had two very different experiences here. Sit down: Awesome. Loved the service and loved the food. To go experience: They don't have any napkins or utensils to go, in case you need some like we did since we wanted to eat right next door over at the richmond beach center playground with the kids. Nice summer night picnic style. The portion size was a lot smaller this time around then our first experience sitting down. Also, my caesar salad was the saddest little salad I've seen (and I make some sad salads at home) with no dressing. I had my husband run back to get some dressing to jazz it up. It was just a handful of chopped up romaine, parmigiana, and a lemon wedge. I loooved this salad when I had it for lunch the first time around, but it was quite different to go. Overall great little place to sit down and eat. I would steer clear of ordering to go. It seems the food quality isn't as good, portions are smaller, and you don't have anything to eat it with.

Came here for late lunch / Early dinner after a day of bill paying and house remodeling. The place is tucked away in the back of a little old strip mall like area near Richmond Beach. They have a very nice wine selection and solid beer choices. Had a seafood fettuccine that was excellent! The others at the table had a burger and a mixed grill - all came out very well.

Very nice surprise hidden behind the Shoreline Fire Safety building. We had delicious calamari as an appetizer, arrived almost as fast as we ordered. Her fish tacos were just the right level of spicy. My seafood fettuchini was full of tender bits of fish and shrimp, draped in a creamy wine sauce that perfectly set off the flavors. The restaurant is obviously doing something right because it was filled to capacity on a Thursday night.

This is one of my eggs benedict go-to spots. The hollandaise is smooth, silky with a nice hint of lemon, egg is poached perfectly, ham is smoked and thinly sliced and the English muffin is the right amount of toasted. All the components that make up this dish easily make it the best eggs benny on this side of the ship canal. Just sayin'. The husband is a fan of the Cajun scramble and Monte Cristo. We also like the beignets. I should also mention that brunch is served on Sundays from 9-2 pm. Hill's is also great for happy hour and dinner. I've enjoyed every meal I've had here. This place is solid.

I thought this place was OK. When I go to brunch I tend to order french toast or oatmeal and in this case it was french toast. It lacked something (not sure what) but I wasn't impressed and wouldn't order it again. The bacon was tasty. My husband got the Cajun Scramble and he raved about it - he really enjoyed the food and beer. He would go again and I would be on the fence.

First visit to this restaurant based on a recommendation by my friend's friend. We arrived at opening and were seated promptly. All around we had a great experience. Meg, Toni, and everyone there went above and beyond. We felt so welcome there and I appreciate the great care they gave to everyone. Meg was great (If you meet her, ask her what she does Monday through Friday! Fascinating! ). Toni (sorry if I misspelled) and Meg worked their magic and concocted a pomegranate iced tea for me because I had a hankering for infused tea. Mmmm, so good and so appreciated! I ordered a house salad (yum!) & the Ancho pulled pork sandwich and my friend had the R.B. burger cooked well-done. The haystack fries were perfect with our meals so whoever thought that up gets a bravo and high five. The slaw and crispy onions included with the delicious pulled pork on a beautiful toasted bun were tasty and a textural pleasure. My friend's burger was well-done as requested and looked so juicy. She raved about the burger. They refilled our teas and Toni brought out a wonderful treat for us which was their seasonal cobbler. A beautifully handmade berry cobbler!! It was perfect. Fresh, texture and taste heaven, not too sweet but naturally sweet, and the soft crispy crunchy topping (does that make sense?) with the icy ice cream on top sealed it for us plus it was served warm. Yeah, I know! We ate the whole thing with pleasure. Thank you for that treat! ;) I will definitely order that again even to take home for later. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, great neighborhood, indoor and outdoor seating, great for solo diners, couples, families with children, friends, & small groups. Great food, great people, great atmosphere.

Lemon chicken is superb, zesty without sourness, nice subtle flavours. Seafood chowder on the creamier side, calamari simple but decent - these were good, but not amazing. But would return on the strength of the lemon chicken + service alone! Service was top notch despite 6pm dinner rush. Wait staff, kitchen staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Nobody avoided eye contact, everybody smiled in a warm and genuine way. No upsell pressure, no attitude for those just drinking water, nothing but genuine people serving genuine food in a place that seems to genuinely give a hoot about the dining experience of its customers. Absolutely recommend.

Stopped by to try the Bleu burger and it absolutely blew me away (sort of pun intended). Peppered bacon and a heaping of Bleu cheese were highlights to the enormous burger. The beef was real juicy - not overdone and dry. Very, very flavorful and filling. It also came with lots of fries which were surprisingly very tasty as well (I would easily order an extra side if I could eat it all!). The burger was realllllyyy messy as a good burger should be. Only complaint - the kaiser bun they used seemed to dissolve just a few bites in to the burger. It just couldn't hold up to all the drippings and volume of the burger. Other than that, we'll worth the drive from South Seattle.

My wife and I have been dining at Hill's since we moved to the Northwest a few years ago. We have always enjoyed the food and service, but after yesterday we won't go back. We stopped by for lunch, seated promptly, and our order for two IPAs was taken...ten minutes for the drinks to arrive and our lunch orders were then taken. Thirty minutes passed, and while others seated after us received their lunches, we received some non definitive lame excuse. We were on the verge of walking out when our lunches arrived and, while the food was good the extraordinarily poor service left a very unpleasant taste. The wait staff is clueless. I can't ever remember not tipping...until yesterday!

I really like this place. They are always friendly and the food is solid. I love the fish and chips. It is a simple dish done right. Perfectly cooked fish, nice and meaty, with a light batter. It is served thin shoe string fries and a simple slaw. It is great to split for a light dinner.

Service was slow, slow, slow!!! The moment we walked in waiting to be seated, it took about 5 minutes for a waiter to even see us, and another 15 to be seated. It was not busy at all since it was later in the evening. Our waitress was sub-par. Once we were seated by her, we sat around forever just to get water. It took a while for food to arrive as well. We had the chicken club sandwich and the mixed grill with the berry a la mode for dessert. The chicken club was delicious which helped with the slow service, the fries were yum too. The mixed grill was just ok. The chicken and shrimp were over cooked, and mashed potatoes were dry. The overall dish lacked a lot of flavor. As for the dessert, it was decent, but still everything was just ok. Expect a long wait for service. The couple next to us was falling asleep waiting to be served...

I am just going to add this to my list of places that I've driven by and never knew existed. Super cute spot, small and cozy. Great for lunch and I saw that they have a great happy hour menu I will need to try. My friend and I sat at the bar for a late lunch. I ordered the salmon burger that was mouth watering delicious. The portions are a good size. I tend to customize my orders quite a bit and our bartender/waiter had no issues with us. The perk of sitting at the bar is that you have an extra person (bartender) to socialize with and our bartender was funny and sarcastic. Parking lot is a bit small, but so is the place so I don't see parking ever being an issue.

Met a friend here for dinner. It's tucked away and not super visible from the road but has a nice ambiance for a casual date or family night. We both ended up ordering the R.B. Burger-- he took it "as it comes" (bbq sauce, dijon-mayo, cheddar and lettuce/tomato/red onion) cooked rare-- it came out medium to medium-well. I asked for no bbq sauce (was told there is some in the patty mix but he'd have them leave off the extra) and no mayo, just cheese and mustard and veggies, cooked extra extra rare ("bleeding mooing and kicking"). The fries were just ordinary skinny fries without any seasoning or much salt, if you ask me, but they're okay. My burger came out acceptably close to rare (mostly pink, some red in the center) and no bbq sauce, but gloppy with mayo. I didn't complain, just asked for mustard. The bun is a nice soft faintly sweet, flaky bread something like kolache dough if you've ever had one in Texas... kind of brioche-y. The burger was big enough to satisfy and not offensive in any way except for the mayo, but otherwise not something to rave about. Service was friendly and prompt. They were out of chocolate lava cake, so we split a piece of cheesecake (it's called special on the menu, but it's just ordinary NY style, round, with a drizzle of chocolate sauce on the plate.) Pretty pricey at $20 per person for a burger and half of one dessert (we both had water.)

The food here is excellent and the prices are reasonable. This is excellent food for the price. I haven't had one thing that I didn't like. The Happy Hour is great and the desserts are amazing. I feel so lucky to have such a gem in our neighborhood.

This place was worth the drive! Went for date night randomly last night, had the R.B. Burger myself and can hands down say it was the best burger I have ever had, a melt in your mouth burger that is unforgettable. My girlfriend had the Seafood Fettuccine and loved it. We will be going again soon! The only knock we could give this place was the Dinner menu is rather small. If you aren't super picky it shouldn't be a problem!

I have been to Hills at least 20 times, and I'm finally writing a review. This place is my "go to" place and my "go to" plate is ALWAYS the Oven Roasted Chicken Salad. The basil dressing is amazing. The burger and fries are also very good. The lemon chicken, the beef skewers... it's all very good. The staff is always friendly and knowledgable of the menu. This is the best restaurant in Shoreline.

Been going here for many years during this location's various iterations, but revisited HIll's (Neighborhood Restaurant or Food & Wine - clearly they don't know what they go by currently) for an early dinner with another family visiting from Spokane. Figured it was time to write a long overdue Yelp post. Upon entry, the person at the host stand looked kind of confused with the reservation I phoned in the day before. Figured it was courteous to phone in the reservation to guarantee a table to accommodate a party of 6. Uh, there's only one table with a reserved sign on it - I think that may be designated for us. The place was mostly empty except for one other couple at the bar. I noticed that the dining room configuration had been also changed since we last visited. We were seated and probably drove our waitperson nuts because we were still exchanging pleasantries and didn't order immediately. Note - we haven't seen the other family in many years. He probably wished we ordered some apps and drinks right off the bat since it was happy hour. We did, eventually. BTW - Wait staff facial expressions and body language speaks volumes and Hill's management needs to take note of this. We ended turning this 6 top over within 90 minutes which is reasonable. Besides there wasn't a line out the door or people milling about the host stand waiting for a table. Another off sign - I had a completely different menu than the others. Plus my favorite crab artichoke dip was no longer featured on any of the menu versions. Clearly that will remain a distant fond memory. I had to ask if there were any particular dinner specials that evening, it wasn't immediately offered up front. Again, the wait person looked a bit irritated to have to tell me it was a lamb shank with mashed potatoes and green beans. Okay then, I won't order it despite I like lamb shank. Too bad not with risotto or polenta instead. Onward to what was ordered: 1- Caesar Salad ($6) - 'satisfying, proper taste, crisp Romaine' 1- House Salad ($6) - for me, a bit overdressed and couldn't finish the toppings 1- pint of Mack & Jack ($2 HH vs $5) - that's an awesome deal! 1- Calamari ($4 HH vs. $9) - decent but bordering on rubbery, plus stick with the lemon wedge, skip the supposed aioli and the other red stuff. Was it red pepper? Was it marinara? 1- Mushroom Quesadilla ($3 HH vs $8) - 'just the nice mix of ingredients and nice app all-around' Dipping sauce was deemed red pepper, probably same as the aforementioned calamari. 1- bowl of Seafood Chowder ($7) - 'it was at the perfect temperature' Glanced at it and was chockfull of fish and seafood. 2 - Fish and Chips ($13 each) - consumed, except for the cole slaw. Hmmm. 1- Chicken Parmesan minus the mozzarella upon request ($15) - only half was eaten. Probably a scaled down size would have been better suited for a pre-teen. 1- Cheesecake ($7) - 'nice filling, perfect size' and not the usual wedge 2 - Chocolate Lava Cakes ($7 each) - consumed by one, assisted for the other and still not completely gone. 'it was epic' but clearly too rich to finish. Despite being a fairly dated type of dessert, that was an ample sized item easily shared by two. Also, I had to ask for dessert menus. Not offered upfront, neither for any coffee service. Never offered if the lone person ordering a beer would have wanted another. So many opportunities wasted for additional up sells. The waitperson did check up on us periodically, refilled water glasses, provided ice when requested, and remained unobtrusive. Just as well as the dining room filled up by 6:30pm and had more tables to attend to. No warm departing farewell like other similar establishments like a Thanks for stopping by, or Have a good evening. Yep, edible food but not overly memorable to want to return. With tax and tip, I paid a little under $124 due to some items being designated HH selections. Thankfully, the reason for the visit was for the company and not the food or service. Compared to Seattle to the south and Edmonds to the north, Shoreline is a culinary hell destination. Hill's was picked because of accessibility from where we were all coming from and we've really enjoyed our previous visits. There are literally only about a half a dozen independent establishments in Shoreline worth visiting, we thought Hill's would have remained one of them. For the previous years collectively, I would have gladly ranked it in the 4 star range and had recommended it to others in the past. But with tonight's group dinner visit, unfortunately it has dramatically dropped to the 2 star range. Doubtful we will ever return. For proximate comparability in the north end, I'd rather give my business to Five or Epulo in Edmonds.

We've been coming here for years and it's been consistently good and fair prices. Ellen Griswold and I went this past Sunday and, as recent reviews have stated, the service was unbelievably awful. We arrived at 5:30p to take advantage of a couple happy hour apps before ordering our main course. As there were few tables occupied, we were seated immediately. 20 minutes later, no one has come to ask if we want drinks or to take our order. The waitresses were literally avoiding eye contact with us as we tried to wave down everyone who passed by (at one point I felt like air traffic control). Finally we went and said something to the hostess who casually giggle-apologized and said someone would help us soon. A few minutes later the bartender asked us if we've decided what we wanted. Mind you we were not sitting at or close to the bar. It was now past 6 and happy hour was over. We each ordered a salad, our entree and I got a beer. Our food and my drink came out in a reasonable amount of time but the tumbleweeds returned. As my wife finished her water and I finished my beer, no one asked if we wanted more. No one asked how the food was. I finally got up, again, and asked for the check. I begrudgingly added the obligatory 15% and we walked out, not one staff thanking us or acknowledging our existence. Edmonds and Shoreline have a ton of great food options now and are very much word-of-mouth communities. No offense, Hills. We're done.

Luv the Happy Hour specials 3-6pm, DAILY!!! Granted this was my first experience visiting this place, I've driven by a lot and I wasn't expecting much from this little hidden gem. I was very surprised to find it wasn't packed during our visit, people should check this place out for the great deals and sample their menu. Yes it is worth the visit to little old Richmond Beach for some great tasty bites of this and that. The visit was solid, great service, great timing from the kitchen, we were 1 group of 4 peeps, there were maybe 3 other groups of 2-4 peeps in the place and it didn't feel crowded, I mention this since the place is on the small-ish side. During the better weather they have an outside deck area for dining, no real view other than the sunset over the parking lot. We shared the calamari(Yum) and beef skewers(Meh, meat wasn't the best quality but tasty). I had the Reuben along with the haystack fries, which are awesome, I just wish there were more!! MIL had the fish tacos and the better half had the F&C, both were very happy with their meals. One worthy item to note, save room for the desserts! We shared the seasonal berry cobbler ala mode, it was heavenly.... Check out their website for more deals, for this area, this is as good as it gets and is worth a try.

We live in the neighborhood, and have been eating here for many years(4 plus),,@ at least once a month as a easy go to place. My favorites are the lamb shank , severed over mashers and scantily clad with a few roasted veggies( more veg less potatoes please), it's usually great, however on ordering this later in the evening resulted in a a tough, overcooked shank with little meat(it went back). The other fav for the entire family is their burger and shoestring fries, honestly the best fries truly amazing! The reason we endure indifferent service, is about convenience. The downside, inconsistent food and the too often impersonal dismissive service. They have a high rate of server turn over, so the recognition by the staff isn't there. The hostess sometimes smiles, but often seems put out. We are good patrons, tip well and mind respectful manners. The kitchen staff is more friendly and personable than the wait staff. There is a great bartender who is friendly and personable. These are the reasons we are eating here less frequently.

The staff at Hills were amazing at accommodating our wishes to make a tasty carb friendly meal!! Our pulled pork lettuce wrap po-boy was a fantastic stand-in for the menu special. Another nice visit to Hill's.

Hills is my go-to restaurant. I almost hate to share how fabulous the food is, for fear they will get even more busy/ popular they are now. I order food to-go from Hills nearly 2 - 5 times a week. I rarely eat at the restaurant, simply because after a long day at work I am tired and would rather eat at home. But the few times recently I have eaten at the restaurant, unfortunately, I found the service was not so great and things seemed a little disorganized. However their to-go service is fabulous and the food is absolutely excellent. My problem is actually that I've eaten there so frequently, for so many years, that it's hard to find menu items I haven't tried before. My favorites: lemon chicken, pork milanese, Ceasar salad (I have them add anchovies), fish and chips, Ruben, turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce (fabulous), seafood chowder, and berry cobbler with ice cream. The dinners often come with mashed potatoes and string beans. Their dinner specials are also great: salmon with burre blanc sauce. Fried chicken. And they haven't had it recently, but the coconut prawns were fabulous. I eat there a lot. I consider myself a foodie and their food is consistently fabulous. The wait staff is so friendly, the chefs (the open kitchen is right next to the hostess stand) are excellent, and for the quality of the food, the prices are exceptional. Please don't go there: I want to keep this my little, private, hole-in-the-wall (albeit cool, "with-it", tastefully decorated hole-in-the wall) secret.

Watch the numbers - - on your wine bottle and the menu. Tried to serve a 2012 cab instead of a 2011 as indicated on the menu. Also, the prices on the menu are not the prices charged on the bill! In most instances items have gone up a dollar, but what does it take to change the prices on the menu? Also, they don't serve bread with the meal any longer.

Went for brunch. i had the s.o.b. Scramble. Translation: shrimp. Green onion. Bacon. Delicious. I really like this place and recommend it to anyone who enjoys casual fine dining.

Went for brunch and had a great meal consisting of a Monte Cristo Sandwich, biscuits and gravy, and a kids scrambled eggs and toast. Everything was really fresh tasting and they use Macrina for their baked goods, which is A++ in my book. I was disappointed that they sold out of the beignets before we arrived, since that was a major reason we wanted to go this establishment. I guess it will just give us an excuse to dine there again in the future. Also, be sure and order the OJ, it was really freshly squeezed and hit the spot! The only downside was the lack of immediate greeting when we arrived. It took a couple of minutes for someone to say hello and then asked if we had a reservation. Had the greeting been more personal and speedy I'd give this spot 5 stars.

I really wanted to like this place. REALLY...but the food has never been as good as the first weekend we were there (July 11th 2014). The food was amazing that weekend. The service is horrible here. They really need a manager that knows how to train the staff. So sad :(

Last night was a Wednesday night and traffic was terrible. Because of this, I opted to take the fam to Hill's so they could cook and I wouldn't have to. Plus, we hadn't been there for a while and this restaurant sort of embodies everything I would love in a place. We were greeted fairly quickly and the place was about half full. After our orders were taken we sat back and relaxed. The atmosphere in this restaurant is really great and casual. When they brought out the food they got my son's salad wrong. I clarified what he had ordered and soon after they brought out his chowder they brought the right salad. All was fine in our world. My daughter ordered the cheeseburger off the kids' menu and loved it. My son ordered a small shrimp louie salad and a bowl of the seafood chowder. He was in heaven. I ordered the caesar salad with salmon (no croutons) and it was perfect. Seriously - on mine, the salmon was cooked just under done and it was the way I like salmon. Fantastic. I drank all my water as I did not order a different drink. Luckily, my daughter didn't touch her water so I drank hers, too. Two empty water glasses sat on the table for the duration. The server never came to refill them nor did she ask if the food tasted okay. We are pretty low maintenance so, aside from the empty water glasses, I didn't mind. When I was a server it was ingrained into me that if there are empty water glasses (and not by the patron's choice) that means the table is not being cared for. We were not being cared for. The check came and the wrong salad was on there. I thought it was probably the same price so I paid it anyway. This morning I realized I was wrong but it's only $3-4 so I'm not going to bother making a stink about that, especially since I should have said something at the time. However, that says to me the server didn't eyeball the check or fix it when it was pointed out they brought the wrong salad to us. I'm not saying I would never come back here because I will. The food is seriously worth any empty water glasses or inattentive service. Plus, I love that there is this great place right in my neighborhood. I have an unexplained soft spot for Hill's and they'd have to screw up pretty royally for me to never be back. That said, last night was a reminder of why we don't go there all that often when at one point in time I wanted to make it a once a week spot for my family.

Stopped in on a Saturday night for dinner. The restaurant is quite small, but nice. We didn't have reservations, but only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. When you walk in, you come into the open kitchen area, so while we were waiting we got to watch the cooks which was kinda fun. For starters, we had the Calamari. It comes with marinara lemon-garlic sauce, and an amazing aioli. Also tried the pomegranate martini - fantastic! For the main we both chose the Pork Milanese. The pork is pan fired with a bread crumb crust. It is topped with arugula and tomatoes, and served over yukon mashers. It was a pretty tasty choice. It was a pretty nice dinner, I'm sure we'll stop in again!

New to the area, I wanted to check out local happy hour places. Hill's sounded great on Yelp, so I decided to check it out. The Collina flatbread and pomegranate martini was delish. However, when I'm given the check (without asking for it) after 1 1/2 beverages and the flatbread, my happy hour ended up being an unhappy half hour, if that. I was also the only person there when I received the check. I felt unnecessarily rushed. Don't bring the check if it hasn't been requested.

Friends and I had been going to this place for several years now and I think it's about time that I write a review. I absolutely love their food. Today, I ordered the BLT but our server made a mistake by bringing the Turkey Sandwich. I didn't think it was a big deal because I was eating my salad so I could have waited for the BLT. She felt bad and insist to keep the Turkey Sand and won't charge me for it. I took a bite of the Turkey Sandwich and wished that I had ordered it instead lol! it was delicious. And when the BLT arrived, it was as good. To top it all, they gave us a free dessert (Cobbler). I just couldn't believe the customer service at this place. My family and I went here last night and were excited to try this place given the reviews. We ordered a couple of appetizers (quesadillas and calamari) and they were both tasty. We really wanted to eat dinner too, but long after our appetizers and drinks were empty, she never came back to take our order so we went somewhere else for dinner. Pretty disappointing. I gave two stars because I'm pretty sure the dinner would have been good, based on the appetizers, and I loved the ambience, but sadly, I will never know what the entire experience would have been.

Went there for lunch. Decor is very nice. But that's where my good experience stops. I ordered the half shrimp melt with a salad. The salad was good, can't really mess up a salad. The bread on the melt was not crispy n got soggy in the middle. The cheese to top the shrimp melt was a slice not shredded. So it looked like a half melted wrinkly piece of cheese on top of my sandwich. It made it difficult to cut my food and try to keep all the shrimp and spinach on top of the bread. The middle of the sandwich had unmelted Parmesan cheese which made the texture a bit dry. No re fill on my water :( My companions turkey sandwich looked very delicious and she enjoyed it.

Wow, wow, wow. I haven't been to Hill's in a few years and boy have I been missing out! Despite its reputation as the "Innis Arden Housewives Club" (snicker), this place delivers top notch food with no attitude! Our house salads with blue cheese crumbles and glazed pecans in an herb vinaigrette dressing were so delicious that I was sad when I had finished mine. This sadness was short-lived, however, because our main courses came immediately after our salad plates were cleared. My mom's braised short ribs were tender, juicy, and delicious! Likewise for my tenderloin steak medallions, cooked to a perfect medium. But the real star of the evening was my BF's seafood fettucine, which came with fish, shrimp, scallops, and tomatoes in an incredibly flavorful and garlicky cream sauce. I'm going back to Hill's just to have this dish all to myself, instead of snagging bites from the BF. Service was personable and prompt. Try Hill's, you'll love it!

I haven't been to Hill's in several years and had great experiences before, so maybe they were just having a bad night, but the service tonight was so poor I thought it warranted a mention here. Staff were not attentive to the customers. Caesar Salad with salmon was okay, but nothing worth ordering again. Salmon was tough and overcooked. Server never once cane back to ask how everything was or to check on me at all. Water was never refilled. My cocktail (a sidecar) was okay, not good enough to order another, but I would have ordered a glass of wine if anyone had bothered to check on me and ask me if I wanted anything else to drink. There was only a handful of full tables and 2 to 3 staff, so the crowd wasn't the issue. Party at an adjacent table was too hot and asked the server if they could move to the patio, and she told them to "be careful where they sat, because they had a lot of reservations" and did not offer to help them find more comfortable seating. The servers acted as if the customers were all just a big inconvenience. Eventually I'll give then another chance , but not for a while.

The husband and I came here for dinner on the recommendation from a friend who lives in this area. We arrived right at five o'clock and were the first people on the patio. We did feel like we were sitting in a parking lot so I took off a star for that. We each had a salad to start and a salad isn't usually something I'd write home about yet these were made with the freshest ingredients. Lovely. Our main courses were also good and we even splurged for dessert! We've had better food, of course. But it was so nice to get out of the "city" of Seattle to experience a quiet date night. I can't wait to go back!

My husband and I were, actually, looking for a wood stove pizza place in the Shoreline area, but, we were a bit too early when we found it. Hills was to the left. Looked like the kind of neighborhood place we like. Turns out we made a good choice. Greeted promptly and our server arrived, took our drink order and was quite pleasant. A little mishap ( not their fault)), but a bee was hiding in my napkin and stung me. Our waiter was quite concerned, although, after the shock and some ice, I was fine. Our filets were tasty, cooked the way we requested. We both loved the Yukon "mash" and yummy Brussel sprouts. When we received our check, they had comped our wine and beer order! Pretty OK. Happy hour food prices were matched by happy hour quantity. Chowder is very very good. The "Mixed Grill" was delicious and had that nice BBQ smoky flavor to it. My sister lives in this neck of the woods, so we came here for dinner the other evening. It was a warm night, so the windows were open. Its a pretty little spot, quaint, but a little upscale. We had the fish and chips, fish taco's, a burger, and the salmon with panang curry sauce, they were all great, but we were fighting over the curry dish! My favorite part was the St Germains (elderflower) cocktail. Its one of my all time favorite things on earth, and nearly impossible to find in a bar/ restaraunt!! I would give a sixth star just for that if I could!

Amazing food and waitstaff! I got the RC Burger on a friend's recommendation and it was honestly one of the best, juiciest burgers I have ever had. All their courses are great, especially the lamb shanks, and they have a wonderful wine selection. Mondays are half-price bottles. Neighborhood atmosphere and the staff have good recommendations for food. I definitely recommend it for a date night or a nice family dinner.

I wanted to take my husband somewhere different for Father's Day. Initially, I had my heart set on seafood, so I found Hill's Neighborhood Restaurant when I searched for "seafood" in the Edmonds/Shoreline area. At first, I was a little disappointed when we got the limited Sunday brunch menu since most of the entrees were breakfast. But I love eggs Benedict so I chose that brunch entree along with a glass of orange juice. My husband had the corned beef. The food arrived to our table quickly, but unlike "fast food" the dishes were delectable! The eggs Benedict was the best I've ever had! My husband loved his corned beef! The orange juice was freshly squeezed and actually surprised me upon the first sip. Our server was incredibly polite and stopped by just to check if everything was OK. Yes, most waitstaff will check on you from time to time, but usually it's not often enough or too often. She had perfect timing. My husband said that it was his new favorite breakfast place. I have to agree. I'm excited to try other menu items for lunch or dinner. Maybe it'll be our new favorite "Every Meal" place. :-)

Hill's is a true neighborhood bistro and now bar. This is a first for me in that I easily walk down the street and hang out here for a point of good beer or have a great meal. In fact the very welcoming staff here have welcomed me to sit at their new bar and work if the occasion arises. We love the food here, which is very well prepared American fare ranging from a good steak to fish tacos. Great care is put into preparing the extras and even the deserts are very good. I would recommend this place as a destination eatery, and the fact that it is a neighborhood establishment only makes it that much better for me.

This is the first time my husband & I came here and it was amazing! The staff is very friendly and attentive. We started with the steak skewers which were delicious! The steak was so tender and the balance of the peanut sauce coleslaw accented it perfectly. For the entree I had the Lemon Chicken & my husband had the Steak Frites. His steak was cooked perfectly, tender and the demi glaze was a great compliment. My lemon chicken had the perfect balance of flavor, the lemon did not overpower the dish which is something that is easily done. After dinner, I asked the bartender if they had any dessert type martini's, he didn't however did offer to make something up and it was great! He made a chocolate raspberry martini, just what I had in mind. We will definitely be coming back here. As for the price, it's not cheap but it is worth it.

Its small but cozy, a total bistro feel and pretty. When its warm enough they even have a place outside for patio seating. My wife and I went here for dinner today. I had a verde burger which came with string fries. I added the house salad. The verde burger was 11.50 and the house salad was $6. My wife had a BBQ burger soup and salad. My wife thought her meal was quite good. I noticed she left the browning chopped iceberg lettuce off her burger. I expect more than iceberg lettuce once a burger climbs over the $10 range. The burgers are supposedly a third of a pound of meat but I was still a bit hungry afterwards. The pepper and jack cheese combo on the burger was fairly good but it could have used more pepper. I thought the field green salad was just OK. The burgers are ground sirloin so I expect to pay more than at Dick's but still $32 for a couple of burgers and salads (before tip) seems a bit much. My wife did add tea and soup instead of fries. Service was good except they did not bring salad forks. The waitress took my wife's fork off her salad plate and placed it down on the table for the next course. Otherwise service was good. The server also took a metal pan (I assume from the kitchen) out to give water to two dogs tied up outside. The dogs were grateful but I found myself wondering what the pan is usually used for.

If you're in a hurry, it's probably not the best but if you're inclined to visit while you wait over a nice glass of wine, it's perfect. Was my daughter in laws birthday so we decided to do a girls lunch on a Saturday afternoon, left the kids with the men and off we went. She and her husband have been wanting to try this place since it was just up the road and we decided to be the testers. On a Saturday around noon, not a lot of folks. Server was prompt with the water, menus and wine but after we ordered it was a wait, but you know what - worth it. I had a wild mushroom quesadillia and she had butternut squash ravioli. Both were wonderful and we topped it all off by sharing a molten chocolate cake. It was to die for. The server when asked said they do have a children's menu which makes it nice if you're taking young ones.

I ate at this restaurant for a rehearsal dinner for a friend's wedding. We had a set menu, so I'm not sure what's on the regular menu, but I had a house salad with basil vinegarette and lemongrass chicken with rice and asparagus -- both were delicious! Why only 3 stars then? Well they had a little problem with the cocktails. Gin and tonic with a lemon? wtf. And they served my friend a glass of wine that was from a corked bottle -- it even had little black pieces of cork floating in it. It wasn't a huge problem, she just got a glass of something else, but still. The other problem was the professionalism of the staff. Though my fiend had confirmed the dinner, she called the morning of to triple check everything and they thought she had cancelled! And as a result, almost didn't have enough food. It was also over-complicated to order the aforementioned cocktails, since the groom was paying for dinner, but we needed to pay for our own drinks. The waitresses wouldn't leave tabs open for drinks for the guests -- needed to cash out after each one.

We weren't expecting much, but were pleasantly surprised by this cute neighborhood restaurant with pretty outstanding food. The restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday at lunch time. I don't think we would have ever found it on our own since it's tucked away into a strip-mall looking area. The ambiance/feel of the place is great - it has an open kitchen, a library feel in the dining room and a patio which probably fills up during the summer time. It looks like Sunday brunch is the right time to come since they have bloody marys! Food was excellent and better than many restaurants in the city. In our group, we tried the pulled pork sandwich, the shrimp melt, and one of the burgers. All delicious and the french fries are amazing. If we're ever in the area again, I'd love to come back and try some of the daily specials - like the lamb shank they were serving the night we were here. Prices were ok for sandwiches, but kinda pricey for soups and salads. Our server was very attentive, we don't know if that's the norm, or because the restaurant was empty - but either way, it's hard to find a combination of decent food and great help - but the Hills definitely has it!

As a native to the 'Line, I'm really excited about Hills. Not exactly a mecca of fine dining, your options in Shoreline/Richmond Beach are pretty bleak. Hills is small and kind of adorable with great food. We went on a Saturday night and the place was bustling with nice energy -- lots of old friends, young couples, and families who just looked like they were having a great time. The food was pretty solid. I enjoyed the house salad dressed with a tasty basil vinaigrette and my mussels were cooked perfectly with a flavorful broth. No real standouts (good or bad), but when I don't feel like eating my mom's cooking (which is almost never), I'd actually look forward to a meal at Hill's. I visited here on one of the few beautiful and warm evenings we've had this month (maybe it was the ONLY beautiful and warm evening this month?). It was a very pleasant experience. The restaurant, while not very large, was probably only about half full by the time we left, which was surprising to me on a Saturday evening. The dining room is small, but doesn't feel cramped in the slightest. The windows were open, which created a very nice feel and left us all feeling pretty content. We split the calamari appetizer between the three of us and it was pretty tasty! One downside is that a lot of the breading fell off the calamari rings and I had to scoop it up in order to eat it all together as one. However, it was still very good! For my entree, I had a shrimp and crab louie (my first ever) and was surprised at how delicious it was! It was the perfect thing to eat on a nice warm evening. The decor of the dining room is really nice and gives off sort of a warm, homey feel. The wait staff are friendly and pleasant and check in with you just often enough to keep you satisfied. We did have to ask for ice in our glasses of water though...which, if you have read some of my previous reviews, is sort of one of my pet peeves. Water needs to be served with ice! But our server was more than happy to bring us glasses of ice to add to the water. Overall, this place is a little bit out of the way from my apartment, but I would definitely make the trip back again - it was quite good!

My husband and I like the Hills. It's a great little go to date spot. The food is always lovely in presentation and flavor. The ambience is wonderful, especially in the summer/nice weather when you can sit in the outdoor porch. This is one of those places where you always know what you'll get which is great in every way except for one area...the service. We have always consistently had so-so to bad service here. On one visit we brought newly engaged friends here and our friend ordered a dish asking for an ingredient he's very allergic to, to be left out. When the dish came with the ingredient in it, he politely asked the waitress about it, she informed him they were really busy and asked if he could just "eat around it"? Other than that we have really enjoyed the meals we have had at the Hills. The fish tacos are really yummy and the meat my husband reports is always perfectly cooked! There are not a lot of options in the Richmond Beach area, this is a find!

Our last dining experience here knocked a star off. Came in here with a party of four. Three things.. 1) The service was super slow (on a Tuesday). 2) The server forgot my beer - had to remind her. 3) My chicken sandwich was disappointing. The bun was crunchy, and the chicken was dry. I wouldn't order that again. Everyone else liked their food though (fish n chips, seafood pasta, and beef medallions). On the up side, the cobbler was really good and served a la mode. Came here to have a big family lunch and celebrate a group of birthdays. Service was a little haphazard despite being empty (it was long after the lunch rush). However, the food turned out pretty darn good. I had a pulled pork sandwich that was delicious. There's not much to say about this place - it's a tiny (hidden) little bistro that serves good food. Not something I would go out of the way for, but if you find yourself in the neighborhood I highly recommend it!

This is a great little neighborhood restaurant. We've gone there several times throughout the past few years and have always had a great experience. I love the fish tacos, the burger, the pork tenderloin and have had some really good specials (meatloaf was YUM!) Our kids like the fettuccine and the grilled cheese and haystack fries. (I don't know what the previous poster was complaining about, I like their fries.) Some things are better than others (fish tacos) but in general, we've always enjoyed our meal. Do get reservations on the weekend (it's tiny) and expect to see someone from the 'hood you know. Service is a bit leisurely, but this is a bit more of a classy place than Red Robin. Don't expect to order and eat within 30 min. Relax, get the kids some crayons and have some wine.

Foodwise, this place is very hit and miss. It can be bland, or good. Good burger, terrible "haystack" fries. Bland steak or tasty lamb shank. Mainly I feel like they don't have a dish where everything is good. Instead parts of the dish are good. For instance nice battered fish in the fish tacos, but grocery store tortilla and bland salsa. This place is always packed because quite frankly there isn't anything else nearby. Even though Scott's Bar and Grill is owned by a big restaurant consortium I think they have better, more consistant food. Service has always been good.

The bottles are amazingly inexpensive there, starting at $8.- and up. Another great thing about if you order a bottle is that they will cork it back up for you to take home. I almost hate to post a review on Hill's, as mo'buzz can crowd a joint. Then again, given the times, the buzz can help keep an otherwise overlooked good place up and cooking. Hill's is, perhaps, the one saving grace for the Shoreline dining area. I can't stand Mc-fast-food dining, so I have very few options in my neighborhood. At this point, Hill's is the best that is around--and I'm even talking about the 15th Ave. NE side of Shoreline. If I have to drive into Edmonds, I might as well drive south into the North and NW 'hoods of Seattle--just to find an at least somewhat cozy place to get a reasonably priced plate of food. Though I haven't ordered everything that's on the menu, what I have has been very good. Considering some of the other reviews, I'm either lucky or have chosen well. I recently ordering a wild mushroom chicken plate with mashed potatoes and asparagus(?). The walnut pesto they added to the mushrooms gave the earthiness of the 'shroom "gravy" more than just a "pop." It was more like a woodsy/earthy "whoosh." A very nice conception that made me want to make every bite an orgy of meat, mushroom, and mash. I totally succumbed to the brain and stomach conspiracy that tells your mouth to "Shut up and eat, boy!" This is a rather embarassing phenomenon when you're with someone else at the table. Fortunately, Margaret has seen this happen with me on more than one occasion (think of Volterra's Wild Mushroom Benedict!). I tend to get a free-pass on that reaction when I'm with her. Lucky me! I wish I could award an extra half-star for a couple of reasons. The waitstaff has always been great, helpful, and fairly knowledgable about the wine list. While it isn't saying that much, Hill's is probably the only good neighborhood restaurant in Shoreline. But, to know you have something good to count on is very important. I've yet to be disappointed when it comes to the items I've ordered. Have you noticed their cocktail list? Some good yummys there! If I have one reason that keeps me from just handing them the fifth star it has to be the noise level when the place is crowded. I'm rather sensitive to noise levels in bars and restaurants. If it reaches a certain level, my brain starts to shut down. Hill's is fine when there are only a few people of if people are quiet. When neither is the case, I go buggy. I still remember this from the first or second time I went there. It sure took me a while before I could bring myself to return. Zoinks!

Very poor service. After being seated for 10 minutes I had to get up and ask the hostess for menus and instead of saying "yes of course" I got "We'll be there in a few minutes" After we got our meals, the waiter did not return once to refill water or ask if we needed anything or ask how the meal was. I got up and brought a water pitcher to the table and refilled my water glass 3 times. I ordered the roasted Chicken salad which has always been very good in the past, but this time it had about 3 small pieces of chicken and some of the greens were slimy. In the past they have always served rolls with this salad as well and this time - no rolls. The waiter brought the check and put it on the table without a word and of course did not return to pick up the check. Someone in my party had to get up and track down the waiter so that we could get change and go. I live in Richmond Beach and this place used to be great, but the service and food quality are just not there, not to mention the ill trained, rude wait staff.

Very impressive debut from chef owner Chris Hill. He also brought in Salistino from Union Square Grill. Wonderful neighborhood setting in Richmond Beach. Well worth the trip over if you are not one of the area residents. Start with everything. Lots of care and flavor in the appetizers and soups. Lunch or dinner entrees will WOW you. Again, order everything. It's the wine list that will have you coming back. Priced well below market, the selections are a steal. This may not last though. How can it? But then, great restaurant people know that guests who "get it" will return and enjoy all that the house offers, which means multiple visits and a menu tour that can take weeks to get through. Great north end restaurant. I wish this place was closer to where I live. Hill's offers nicely prepared bistro food for really reasonable prices. We recently enjoyed the dinner special. A generous portion of pan fried sole with a Parmesan crust. It was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The fish came with some fresh green bean and some mashed potatoes. Our starter of clams and mussels came in a nice spicy broth with andouille sausage and toasted baguette pieces. Lava cake dessert was good. Nice selection of wines by the glass. Why eat chain restaurant food when places like this are around. The place was cozy and comfortable. Service was very good.

Lunch was good; service good, a little pricey. If you do go, must try the seafood chowder. Best clam chowder is at Anthony's/Beach cafe at the Edmonds marina. Hill's has a chowder that is a little different but also excellent. It is pink in color due to the Port they add. It has a slightly creamy sweet taste in contrast to the normally salty clam chowder. The first taste was interesting; by the time I finished it was great. A gem hidden behind another bldg on 195th.

This is one of our favorite places for good comfort food. Everything on the menu is awesome and their Sunday brunch is light and simple. We love their salads and burgers as well as their seafood items. They could probably work a bit on their service, but with a few glasses of wine you won't even notice. In the summer, they have a cute little patio and since the restaurant is somewhat hidden, it's really pleasant outside. Business has really picked up, so I would recommend making a reservation so you won't have to wait too long.

We went there last night, Friday, a bit before 5. It reminded me of Bicks up in our neighborhood ... We ordered the mushroom quesadillas and the house salad to share to get things started, and a pommegranite and beat inspired boozy beverages ... the drinks were good, different, very pleasant. the appetizers were good. i ordered the much Yelped about lamb shank ... my wife ordered a multi-meat tasters dish, had shrimp, anduille sausage, chicken... the lamb shank was really good, yummy mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. my wife enjoyed her dish too, and she is very picky about eating meat ... both main dishes arrived a bit cold, we surmised that they were done too soon before we were done with the appetizers. Happy Hour: every day from 4-6 = $2 off cocktails, $2 off appetizers. Monday and Tuesday 1/2 off wine ... All prices were very reasonable. We had 2 entrees, 1 appetizer, 1 house salad, 4 cocktails + slightly over 20% tip = $89. I've spent this much at Bicks and have felt totally ripped off due to really lousy waitstaff. Our waiter was pretty good ... he kept our water glasses full, which is one of my pet peeves. Thirsty, need water ... We live in Broadview, and aren't a big fan of Bicks anymore ... we decided this would be worth the 10 minute drive to go eat at again. We'll probably come back on a Monday or Tuesday. Sorta hard to find on a dark rainy night ... but we're glad we went.

We went on cheap pasta night and 2 of us ordered the special pasta. It was penne bolognese. They apparently don't know that pasta needs to be thoroughly rinsed of water before it's put in the sauce unless you want the water to be the sauce. My penne was flloating in a very watery sauce. The pasta itself fell apart easily indicating it was overcooked. I guess the failure to make a relatively simple dish correctly made me wonder how there are so many good reviews here. We also ordered the clams/musssels. These were served in a very plain tomoto sauce. They needed something else as the flavors were bland (same as the pasta). The tastiest part of the meal ended up being the starter salad with blue cheese, candied walnuts and mixed greens served with a nice balsamic dressing. I did take a tast e of the Pork chop that my partner got and, again, the word "bland" comes to mind. Nothing special and lacking in some of the basics. I rarely complain about lack fo salt but I did with the pork dish. Service was fine. Will give Hill's another try to see if I just had bad luck my 1st time.

I live in Shoreline and walked into Richmond Beach to catch the sunset and see if there was a place to watch the the Sunday football game. Hill's was open and there was a TV over the bar so that got me in. What kept me there for the next two hours was the great kitchen, bar and hospitality. The professional kitchen is exposed as you enter the restaurant and the chef staff is available for questions if you see something interesting. The interior is a warm cocoa themed bistro motif that is welcoming and attractive. Ashley was covering half the tables and running the bar, assisted by a working GM. Service was attentive without being intrusive, Hill's runs a tight and clean dining room. I had the Seafood Bisque and Quesadilla with a "Red Hook" Manhattan; all were superb. Ashley mixes drinks like Ruben at Musso & Frank's in LA and was taken back when I said she tended bar like a 72 year old but this is high praise. The Bloody Mary she mixed for another customer was the best I'd ever seen. I agree with other posters here - it would be good to let them know if you are in a hurry. This is not criticism, just acknowledgment that Hill's is a good place to relax, settle in and enjoy a good meal.

I have to disagree with most of the people here. The food's decent. From their smaller menu selection you would/should expect each of the 9 or so dishes to be excellent. Not so. The Crab dip appetizer was probably the best part of the meal. We had the Lamb Shank and Top Sirloin. The lamb shank was average, it's anything you'd expect from a slow cooked shank. I'll admit it was very tender and juicy, but the flavor was absent and the reduction that came along with it seemed like it was an afterthought. The lamb shank should really have been in the reduction as it cooked. The top sirloin was just par as well, cooked to order. It had fried leeks on top of it that complimented the food, but was a bit too salty for my taste. Sides: The mashed potatoes were very uncreative. It was literally just mashed potato, a little garlic salt and butter wouldn't have hurt at all. The "seasonal vegetables" were probably the worst thing I've had in a while. It was a mix of what looked like spinach and something else cooked with a wine and something very sweet. They tasted like a garden hose and the sweetness to counterbalance the bitter was way off the mark. I would've much rather had some steamed vegetables, which would have better complimented the meal. The "seasonal vegetables" were more flavorful (not in a good way) than the main entree. I still gave this place 3/5 based on it's friendly attentive service and it's awesome pre-meal bread. I'm also being generous because in all logic, this place HAS to be better than what I had tonight.

Hills was a great find! Since our first visit about a month ago we've already been back multiple times. We've always had wonderful service and the food is fantastic! Great little "hole in the wall" atmosphere and neighborhood feeling. We will definitely be trying the Sunday brunch soon!

Hill's Food and Wine in Richmond Beach is a hidden treasure. The fact that it sits two blocks from my house tucked into the inconspicuous corner of an aged and tiny commercial area behind a satellite Fire District vehicle storage makes it something of a wonder for its success. The local neighborhood has responded to the high quality attention to fine food, excellent wines, knowledgeable and friendly wait staff and the good feel of a neighborhood "joint." The fish tacos are simply excellent, with shredded cabbage, pico de gallo and a chipotle mayonnaise. The menu is broad and typically gets seasonal updates. If you're in the neighborhood you should give it a try. The gorgeously remodeled Shoreline Saltwater park is only a few blocks to the south. Catch the sunset and follow up with a dinner at Hill's--it makes a beautiful evening perfect.

I think Hill's gets a better rating by most reviewers in the RB area because there is nothing else in Richmond Beach to compete with it. We went there recently and found it to be just average. Parking was a real issue as we circled the full lot for almost 15 minutes (are we in Seattle or Richmond Beach?). We had high hopes based on reviews and seeing the restaurant so full on a week night. Artichoke dip had the makings of something good, but was served luke warm and undercooked - it tasted like it could have been great but was almost raw - needed another 5-7 minutes under the broiler (Yes, yes I know we could have sent it back to be cooked a little longer, but we are those people who fear reprisal and would rather not chance our dinner by sending back a lousy appitizer). Steak was a nice cut of meat and again had the makings of something good, but came up just short - we both agreed it need to marinate longer to become a little softer, more flavorful, and probably what the kitchen was trying for. It was as if both the dip and dinner had been sent out too quickly and the kitchen was behind on everything. Finished with cobbler because all the reviews seem to think it is the second coming... Well, its damn good and accounts for one of the stars all by itself. I agree that staffing seemed to be a little thin... we noticed some longer stretches of time when we needed something and our server was busy with other guests. The various different types of tables and chairs are not that swanky, cool, posh look... instead they are an odd, weird mismatch that leave you wondering if the restaurant is struggling financially. Overall, our meal was a disappointment, but had portential. I doubt I'm coming back for dinner, but maybe for wine and cobbler. I do agree that having a restaurant in RB is a step in the right direction. Obviously the RB crowd approves with all of their 4 and 5 stars.

This place is delicious. They have the best cheeseburgers EVER, and I'm somewhat of a cheeseburger connoisseur. I know, this doesn't seem like the type of restaurant where you'd order a cheeseburger, but do it... you won't be let down. Their soups are always really good as well. The business is kind of tucked away in a little area of Richmond Beach; it's pretty inconspicuous and quite honestly, doesn't look like it would amount to much, but once you get inside you're treated to a homey, elegant little restaurant. The service has always been personable and knowledgeable. My two complaints would be the prices and the parking situation. Things tend to be a bit overpriced--come on, this is Shoreline! And there's definitely a lack of parking. Prices are much better during the lunchtime hours.

We were surprised to hear of a restaurant we had not yet found in Shoreline. But, upon finding it, we knew why--the building is set back from the street and next to the tiny firestation. Great environment, friendly staff, kitchen is open as you walk in. Wine list wasn't too extensive if you're looking for lots of options. We had the calamari (excellent), wedge salad and blue cheese salad, fish and chips and fish taco. Everything was tasty. There were many other options on the menu. However, there was not a vegetarian option. Seems like the type of place that would make something special if required.

Hill's has been great since they opened, but it has gotten even better in the last year. They have added the local Macrina's bakery's brioche bread to the menu, and you can't get better than Macrina! For weekend brunch is a most fabulous french toast recipe with peaches, oh yummy! And they have introduced the very best BLT with the Macrina brioche, and you can get either dijon mayo or chipotle mayo, what a decision! The new decor makeover and addition of the bar makes the place very cozy. And the staff? Fantastic - they attend to every detail, remember the regulars, clue diners in on what's extra good in the kitchen, and the kitchen staff never disappoints. Kudos to our neighborhood restaurant!

We love going here. It is our default date-night location. We go at least once a month, even if it is only for their cobblers. They have brunch too on Sundays, which we made it to once. The outdoor seating is nice when it finally gets warm enough. You could dress up if you're in the mood (I've seen prom parties in there) or you could go in jeans and a fleece. I like the atomosphere (the open kitchen), the food, and the people. It's not a place that is going to wow anyone with greatness the minute they walk in, but it is consistantly a good bet. It can get a little loud in there. There are coupons in the mail all the time for buy two entrees, get ten dollars off. They also periodically offer gift certificates which are buy $100 worth, get a $15 gift certificate free, or $50 worth and get $5 free. I think the $115 lasted us for about six visits... Then they have specials certain nights, like a pasta special night on Wednesdays for $12 for a pasta dish (like ravioli) and salad/soup. This place is one of our top three in Shoreline.

Fabulous! Enjoyed the quesadillas on the patio and it was delightful. Lots of flavor and a relaxing ambiance! Some great drinks on their cocktail menu too. Tried the Lavender Drop -- great flavor, just not hardly any lavender flavor, but got me inspired to try and make it at home.

You really need to try this restaurant. It's not fancy, just GREAT food. It sits off the road, in Shoreline of all places, so a). easy to miss and b). off the beaten track. The decor is warm and inviting - there's a huge wall of shelves on one side that encases hundreds of cookbooks. The first few times we came there was lots of tables available. By the third visit, the word was out. It was pretty packed. The staff squeezed us in on the deck and even went out of their way to move the umbrellas around so we weren't blinded by the sunshine (remember that stuff? Sunshine?). Every single thing we have tried is amazing. I'm not blowin' smoke. A creative and "Fresh" menu - with something for everyone: steaks, burgers, fish, pasta. Don't forget to try the desert. The owners keep a watchful eye on the place, making sure everyone is comfortable, happy, having a great time. More likely than not, he'll come over to your table and see how you enjoyed your dinner. Make a night of it, or go on the weekend for lunch.

I have been here a few times and do not understand the crazy positive responses I see and hear. The food is average at best, but you sure get a lot of it. I have heard from friends that it really rocked but has gone down hill a bit so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and return. Do Not Park anywhere labeled no parking. The neighbor lady, or so the story goes, will have you towed if you even longly look at a spot with a no parking sign. My friends parked in the hair salon (Hello - did you see the no parking sign) and when they came out the car was gone. That $300 makes dinner a bit spendy. To the owners credit, he offered them gif certificates for $150 or so to make up for it, even though it was not his fault.

Went in for Desert on a Saturday night, friendlysaff, amazing desserts, we had the lava cake, also had the Cobbler, it was huge....The coffee there is also very good. Its kinda wierd/cool when you walk in cuz you walk right into the line and the kitchen. We liked the decor too!!

Pretty much anyone will tell you that good restaurants in North King/South Snohomish County are nearly nonexistent. So when we found this gem in Richmond Beach we were thrilled! The food is consistently excellent, the service is top notch, prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is casual while also being tasteful. And a plus for anyone with kids - they have a kids' menu and kids are welcome. Food-wise, there's something for almost everyone - seafood, beef, pork, chicken, pasta, etc. I say "almost everyone" because there is nothing vegetarian on the menu, which seems like a miss. As someone who does not eat a lot of meat, I would be thrilled if they would add at least one vegetarian entree. Even so, this is my new favorite restaurant!

This is a comfortable and casual restaurant. We arrived wearing workout clothes and did not feel uncomfortable, although we were the most casually dressed. Be sure to order the house salad. It's very light and fresh. Hill's location is another nice thing about it. It feels homey being so near neighborhoods.

Hills is my favorite restaurant. with 1/2 price wine on wednesday and tuesdays and a simple but delicious menu, we go here at least once a week. The Steak with frizzled leaks is wonderful and if you're lucky enough to have the 'cowboy' steak as a special, do NOT pass it up! Every time we go, everyone who goes gets at least a cup of the seafood chowder, it is soooooo good. It's comfort food. It's home. It's great! The only thing I think they should keep an eye on is when the owner is away the staff will play. For some reason I've noticed that when the owner isnt there the professional attitude and aura of the staff seems to slump a bit.
