Incredible food. And even better atmosphere. Mai will remember you and is super nice everytime you come in. Best place to eat in Washington

Food is delicious and plentiful. The staff is friendly. On the corner of nowhere in Renton but definitely glad we stopped here to eat! This place taste very authentic. Most spice spreads, spice toppings, and dips are made in house. Definitely a diamond in the rough. But me its far. so we will probably not be back unless we're in the area but if your going to Renton IKEA, then this place is less than 3 mins away from IKEA and a great place to go for lunch and dinner!

Came here for lunch and got fresh spring rolls and pad Thai with chicken. Spring rolls we're good, pad Thai was ok. I was hoping for spicy but got so so. Oh well. Service was great, people were friendly. I'd come back to try something different. I didn't have a menu on me for my to go order so I defaulted to what would be popular. I'm hopeful for the next visit.

Spectacular tastes & always consistent. That's the mark of a great restaurant to me. The chicken Yakisoba is great. And the Supreme Fried Rice is still my favorite fried rice anywhere.

This is my favorite place for Thai in Renton. Generous portions, good price and great customer service. I really enjoy coming here because I leave satisfied. Their karrage, kai yang and supreme fried rice are just a few of my favorites.

My wife was born in Bangkok and this is what she says: "Som tum was pretty authentic. The Mu Yang was cooked well and flavorful. The kai yang was solid and seasoned well as well juicy. Our daughter enjoyed the Rad Na but not too authentic. Overall a good experience, would return for the som tum with mu yang and sticky rice." Our daughter mostly enjoyed the friendly and personable owners/waitstaff!!!

I am giving them a 4 out of the benefit of the doubt. I was not incredibly impressed with their Pho. Now that I have eaten there, I read other reviews and they were not crazy about their Pho. Moral of the story, don't get the pho here. It's not that it was bad, it was bland. That being said, the Shrimp Summer Rolls were excellent. They were hearty and had great flavor. The wait staff was very kind and attentive. I felt the decor could use a good cleaning and repainting, but other then that nice. Next time I come here I am going to check out the Thai food, and I think you should do the same. It looked very good.

My favorite phad Thai I've ever had. Mai is awesome and will remember your name and order after one visit. Great filling meal for good price.

This place is my favorite! Anything you order here you won't be disappointed! I feel like I have ordered almost everything off the menu and they have all been very flavorful and satisfying. The owner is super friendly/funny she is normally always there and remembers all of her regulars like my boyfriend and I. I have highly recommended this place to my friends and co workers and they love it as well!

  • Eneri S.

Service was friendly. We ordered sides (green papaya salad and sticky rice) to go with our food at home. Salad and rice were good.

  • Sonja W.

Sooooooo good & the owner is always so sweet, you never catch a worker just standing around they are always interacting with customers or cleaning!! Must try the karage(sp) chicken & papaya salad!

Bottom line: I would only go to Mai Thai Restaurant for Thai food, not Pho. I have ordered pho twice from here within the last 4 months. I ordered a Large Mai Thai Special pho for $7.95-- disappointed once again. The serving was very small and the soup was pretty bland. The bowl was large but the actual amount of soup was like half of the bowl. To make matters worst, I had little noodles and barely any meat. The special usually includes different varieties of meat, I only seen two- brisket and tendon. The thai tea I also purchased was not the best, it was delicious all the other times I have ordered it though, so perhaps it was one of those days. The staff is very friendly. I'm sure this is a family-friend owned small business, so the staff is very welcoming as if you are a guest in their own home. The Thai food I've ate however is always pretty good. The owners are Laotian, and in my opinion ( not being racially bias) Laotian owned restaurants seem to always make Thai food better than the Thai owned places, as it is always more flavorful. I just wish I could say the same for the pho there =P

Awesome service. The people running the place were so friendly made us feel like family. Foods great. The spring rolls are GIANT! Will be going back.

We were in the area and wanted some pho so we did a quick Yelp search and this was what came up.. The reviews convinced us to give it a try. The lady, I believe was the owner was pretty cold as soon as we walked in. She didn't even say hi and just told us to sit at the designated table. Whatever, we were hungry and she was an older Asian lady. We all ordered pho... The number 7 and number 11. The "medium" was like $6.95 and "large" was $7.95. The large was basically a medium. Now, I do realize this was a Thai AND pho restaurant so my expectations were not high at all. They don't specialize in pho so I knew it would most likely be average at best. The pho came out and yes, it does take a significant amount of time longer than a pho restaurant. The noodles were disgusting... It really tasted like plastic. The broth had a lot of garlic which I am not used to with pho. They're very skimpy with the meat and the little meat that I had was chewy. The waitress/owner became really nice as our time there went on... But the pho was one of the worst I have tasted. Even the loads of siracha and oyster sauce couldn't mask the plastic taste.

Udon Soup was yummy and flavorful. Karaage Chicken was really good and the portion size is amazing. Pad see-ew was very bland and disappointing. Cucumber Salad was disappointing as well. Owner is super hospitable and funny. Or else this would have been a 3 star.

My girlfriend and I was looking around for a place to eat and we drove by and saw a lot of cars so we decided to give it a try. The menu is huge. We ordered noodles with chicken and I just picked something I never tried before pork dish that is grilled then boiled it was awesome. It came with this sauce on the side that I really liked. l asked for the recipe they would not tell me. When I visit a restaurant it has to have a WOW Factor and this place has it. Definitely going back and try more dishes, if you like hot just tell them and if that's not enough ask for condiment tray. Enjoy Aloha

Yum!!! Dropped by for a quick bite on my way to IKEA which is down the street. Mai is a kick. Super friendly and funny. Lots of regulars. I will make it a must when at IKEA!

  • Chad S.

The Pho broth is one of the best I've had. The staff are happy and delightful to be around. If you like fresh salad rolls, don't pass these up! Their flavors are solid and one of a kind. I highly recommend this place.

  • Susan M.

The food here is excellent every time - fried chicken, Thai style, tom yum and pho soups, Singapore noodles - all OUTSTANDING!! The lad y who runs the place is always there, greeting people as they enter and making sure every aspect of the experience is wonderful. I highly recommend you stop and enjoy a wonderful dish!

I've passed by this place many times, but never really paid attention to it, because of its unassuming location in a strip mall in between the East and West Valley highways. After reading the great reviews here on Yelp, though, I decided to give it a try, and I was not disappointed! I'm always a little confused by restaurants that serve a mixture of cuisines, and in addition to Thai and Pho, Mai Thai & Pho also offers some Japanese dishes on their menu...yakisoba and katsu. Nevertheless, I decided to stick with Thai, and that turned out to be an excellent choice! In fact the Mussuman curry that I ordered was the best I've ever had at any Thai restaurant anywhere. A lot of restaurants ruin it with an overabundance of potatoes and not enough curry sauce....but the Mai Thai version was absolutely perfect...a delicious balance of fried tofu (you can get it with any protein), tender potato cubes, bell peppers, and yellow curry sauce so delicious I found myself spooning it up and eating it like soup! I ordered 3 star, and the heat was also just right...enough to make my face sweat a little, but not enough to make me cry! I'm guessing that the lady who waited on me was also the owner, and she was very charming and solicitous. She asked if I would be returning, and I said truthfully, absolutely!! I can't believe I waited so long to try Mai Thai & Pho, they are just as good if not better than some of the more well-known Thai restaurants that I've eaten at in Seattle. Give them a try if you are ever in the Renton/Kent/Tukwila valley.

  • Jeff G.

This was a choice made based on previous reviewers. Up in the area visiting Ikea and friends later for dinner. Portions were generous without being too large, potstickers were crisp and flavorful. Chicken yakisoba was perfectly spiced and the hostess was a kind funny lady.

  • Kimmie L.

Mom and pop shop. They are so sweet and always asking if you're doing ok. Don't order spice and expect it NOT to be spicy.. There's a reason why Thai Chiles are tiny and IN Thai food. 3 stars was a good level for my SO and I to share but the papaya salad was too hot for him. There is no sign of chili in it but man can you feel it, and I LOVED IT. ;) We've tried pad see ew, pad Thai, and Thai pho and satisfied with our decisions!

Eat here a lot. Fast, wonderful people and food! You have to get the spring rolls; they are not vegetarian but they are made fresh and taste great. They offer wonderful combinations which will keep you coming back!

  • Wendie L.

LOVE this place! The owners are kind, funny and amazing. They remembered my name from my first visit on, remember my favorite dishes and how I like them!! Considering how busy they always are, especially for lunch, this amazes me! My favorite dishes are the fresh spring rolls, the larb gai and the papaya salad but I haven't been disappointed with anything. If you can get here I highly recommend you go!

Never disappoints whenever i come here to Seattle. I usually order the Massumun and Panang Beef. Awesome customer service!

  • Fatemeh F.

I've been here twice and disgusted both times. The pho broth is so extremely salty! It tasted like heated up salty canned beef broth. The food is NOT FRESH at all!!! The rice tasted like it was microwaved and the satay chicken was about as dry as a cardboard box. I've never walked away from a meal... But had to both times here. Stay away from Mai Thai! There are so many better places out there to dine at!

Lunch here is great, the staff seem to remember everyone. Very friendly, the food is tasty too. All around good lunch if you're in the area.

  • Teddy G.

The service by the owner was amazing! I asked for a good beer match for my pho and she told me she was going to surprise me. She came out with Chang, a Thai macro that matched very well with the garlicky broth. The pho was also unique in that it had more garlic compared to other places but it wasn't overpowering if anything made the usual blend of sriracha and hoisin even better. Will definitely be returning with friends.

  • Aaron B.

Very good pad see ew! Would recommend this place to someone in the area as an alternative to the cafeterias in the large furniture stores. Service is fast and the owner is very funny. The miso soup and other dishes were also good, but wide rice noodle dishes are the way to go here!

    (4)
  • Kimberly M.

The egg rolls were great! The Tom Kha was oily, watered down, and lacked any trace of lemongrass flavor. The black sticky rice dessert was okay. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with what I ordered here, but I might try it again solely based on other reviews.

  • amanda r.

The service here is fantastic! The owners work here every day and will remember you, even months later. It feels like a local watering hole. The food is authentic, affordable, and delicious! The service is unmatched! I always try to make it here when I'm in the area. Typically I order chicken phad Thai and supreme fried rice. The chicken satay and Thai ice tea are also fantastic!

Great little family run restaurant. You are thanked about twenty times during your meal. It's nice to be appreciated. The food was great. Try the papaya salad, out of this world! Everything was fresh and made to order. Don't miss out!

  • Adam J.

They get 4 stars only because they have a fantastic staff that is upbeat and very nice. The food is decent but nothing to rave about. I had the Pho and it was decent but wouldn't recommend heading here just for it. We also had a noodle dish and it was decent but nothing special. If you're headed to IKEA it's a good option if you compare it to the alternatives.

    (4)
  • Heather J.

Service was good but the food was not. Pho was too salty and the Tom Kha soup was really off. Food tasted like it was from a can and not homemade or fresh.

Been here many time and love it! The owners and wait staff not only remember your name but your orders every time. They're very friendly and the food is fantastic. Never a bad meal. I moved to Wilmington, NC two years ago and when I came back to Seattle to visit I made it a point to go have some delicious Thai food.

This is unfortunate. The people here are very, very nice. The lunch service is a terrible wreck. SLOW ... I've wintessed orders being wrong several times, people waiting to be seated and crazy mad rush in every area. There is a feeling that if any ONE thing goes wrong the whole place would fall. Its ran that tight, always on the edge of complete chaos. In my opinion, this could be fixed with 2 things. One more person in front taking orders, working the tables. AND some damn urgency in the kitchen! When you are waiting 30 minutes for your lunch and can see right into the kitchen, its a bit un-nerving to see the cook dazing and stiring slowly with one hand. Ive seen this a few times. They are so very nice and seem to be very accomodating, however they need to either uncrease productivity or lose 1/2 of the tables in the dining room. I will not be going back.

A co-worker an I went here for lunch. We were pleased with the food that we ordered. Our meal started with spring rolls which were what you would hope for; fresh ingredients, good size, great peanut sauce for dipping. I had the red curry, which I ordered at a five star level and even after adding the chili oil on the table didn't really have any heat to speak of. Otherwise, the flavor was very good. My co-worker had the Mai Thai Angel which looked fresh and had plenty of the tasty peanut sauce on it. I would certainly recommend this place for lunch and even dinner. If you are going for lunch, go early or plan to wait, they are very busy and have a steady flow of customers (observation while eating lunch). The food explains why! A nod to the staff, which I assume are the owners, they were funny and made the experience even better!

Small local biz with authentic Thai flavors... Since we've discovered this secret gem, the place has gotten busier regardless of the day of the week. We normally go for family dinners, and we love that Mai remembers the dishes we love best and will make suggestions if we are up to changing it up a bit. Prices are extremely reasonable, service is very attentive and family oriented, and food is downright delicious. Favorite dishes for our family are Tom Kha Gai, Phad See Eew, Papaya Salad, and Phad Prik Khing. I only wish it was closer to my home, so I could have it more often :)

This place has great food and service!!! Yum on pretty much anything you order :), it's not a date night place but definitely a place I will be going back to a lot! The Pho is so good.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. We have made this a regular stop for the past three years when we return from Seatac or go to the Costco and IKEA in Renton. The family owners are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and generous; they make a special effort in making all their clients feel at home and even remember their names. We love specific dishes so much that we haven't ventured to try many others - the fresh spring rolls, chicken satay, and wide drunken noodles with beef. The quality of the food has been absolutely consistent, and we will always keep going back since we have not found anything that compares in our area.

    (5)
  • Sarah F.

Completely and utterly average... Pros? -A large variety of menu items -Americanized food, if you like that -Relatively clean -Lots of veggies in their pho! -Friendly owners/operators Cons? -The food can be very bland -Nothing really stands out as being "mm mm good"... harsh, but I've had some good thai and pho in my lifetime

What great service! Delicious food, and a surprise extra serving of chicken for my friend on a meat-centric diet! Personable staff, delicious food and snappy service, even in the middle of lunch!

I love this place! Mai and her husband are the nicest people around. The food is delicious. I work in this area and my co-workers eat here at least once a week for the past 9 months. We come here so much, the owners don't even ask for our names when we put in our orders. Usually, getting Thai food and Pho to-go doesn't taste as good. Somehow, with Mai Thai and Pho our Phad Thai, Phad Se Ew, Pho, Tom Yum, and everything tastes just as good when we pick it up and bring it back to the office. So delicious! I am currently on a Tom Yum kick, and have been ordering from here twice a week, for three weeks. The place is usually packed during the lunch rush, so we always call in our order first, and come pick it up 15 minutes later. And they always have it ready for us at the counter :)

Too lazy to cook one night so decided to do takeout. With many Thai options in the area, we opted for this one as it was close by. Ordered the chicken pad thai, panang curry and eggrolls. My order was ready and waiting for me when I arrived 15 minutes after my phone call, awesome. Food portions were decent, curry was pretty good, it wasn't too thick and didn't have that overly sweet coconut-y taste to it. Although i ordered 4 star on the spiciness, the spice level not hot at all, had to add extra spice to it. Pad thai was pretty good, and so were the eggrolls. Staff seem very nice, said thank you to me like, 10 times, but I could do overly polite than rude. Would definitely come by again and try their many other menu options.

Let me start by saying I LOVE PHO! I was surprised to find some of the best flavored broth I've ever tasted. I ordered the medium beef Pho and it was a very generous portion, with lots of sprouts, basil, and jalapenos on the side. I paid $10 total thats including tip and I left there stuffed. I really enjoyed this resturant. The service was effecient, and pleasant. And the Pho delicious. Highly recommend.

Solid Thai food with a variety of vegetarian items and a kitchen willing make substitutions. Owner and wait staff very friendly and welcoming- I understand why locals become regulars.

I had the pho with chicken to go. Quick, friendly service. It was fresh, piping hot, and the fresh veggies and noodles on the side were crisp and delicious. I'll definitely be coming back!

  • Leon R.

Staff was very nice and attentive. My wife and I were a bit disappointed with our dishes that we ordered, Phad Thai and Phad Kee Mao. It both tasted like something we can make at home :( Overall, it was a good experience.

  • Liz B.

SO GOOD. The food choice is phenomenal, and the food is even better. As if that's not enough, the service was incredible! I had a dinner that came with tempura, the sauce that came with is beyond amazing. The woman who served us said it was spicy, so I almost didn't get it - I hate all things spicy - but she was so nice, I hated to say "no." I'm glad I didn't. Whatever it was, was SO good. You have to go there.

My family and I ordered three dishes as takeout to have for dinner. We ended up having to make grilled cheese sandwiches because the food was that bad! The Chicken Phad Thai (three stars) that we ordered was brown instead of the red (chili paste) that we're accustomed to. The dish was extremely spicy and truly had no real favor besides being way too spicy. Our second dish-Favorite Fried Rice (two stars) was okay. The level of spicy on this dish was better, but I wouldn't classify it as two stars. The shrimp in the dish were either old or overcooked because they were very chalky. I can't recall the name of our third dish but it wasn't at all what we expected. It basically consisted of overcook steak on top of white rice. Again...the dish had no flavor at all. What a waste of a good $30!

Eat #3 it is pho with a great twist. Coconut milk and a delicious yellow bean curd, with ground pork this is one of my favorite pho dishes anywhere!

Large selection of thai dishes at reasonable prices. You can also choose the spice level of your dishes. The restaurant was clean and service was very friendly.

Darn tasty larb. And, Mai makes it really spicy. When you say 4 stars, be prepared to sweat.

The food taste great, there's a lot of it, and reasonably priced. The service is super friendly. Comfortable atmosphere. We love May. It's like a magic trick how she remembers our "Usual" order. She did this even after not having seen her in five years! (Back when she was at "Saya's")

  • Gina H.

Love this place!! It is close to work, and we eat here at least once every week or two. I always have the fried spring rolls and ask for the peanut dipping sauce. The garlic sauce that usually comes with them is absolutely delicious, but I just prefer the peanut sauce, mostly. I always order my favorite dish...Pad Woon Sen...4 stars! I have never found it any place else, the way Mai's cooks make it. Look in the photos, I'll post a picture I took 2 days ago. The flavors are wonderful, and the textures are perfect. The noodles are mung bean, so they are healthier for you! Sometimes, I order a whole order fried spring rolls to have in the restaurant...nice and crispy, and hot! And then order my Pad Woon Sen to go...and I have it for lunch the next day! But Mai will serve you as many or as few rolls as you like. The standard order is 6. Both Mai, and her husband are dear, dear people. She always remembers the names AND the favorite dishes of her regulars! It's wonderful to be greeted by her from across the room, as I come through the door. It makes one feel so welcome. Like coming home for lunch. And, she'll just ask the number, and have the rolls in the hot oil before I even find a seat. They have lots and lots of loyal customers! And for good reason. Their restaurant is cozy and warm, and their food is the best, and their customer service is unparalleled! Why would you go anywhere else? You will never get better Pad Woon Sen...anywhere! But, be warned...don't ask for 4 stars unless you mean it. ;-) It will be 4 stars. Even I sometimes have to tone it down to 3.

As many other people have I have tried DOZENS of Thai restaurants, but Mai Thai absolutely takes the cake. Although they make a bunch of good food items, their Phad Thai (sp?), as generic as that may be, is hands down the best asian noodle dish I have ever tasted and I consistantly get it. Furthermore, their drinks such as their Thai coffee are spectacular. But what really does it for me is the astounding customer service. Mai, the owner, is super sweet and has a killer memory. She will never forget your face - never - and I've gotten to a point since the first time I've come where she knows exactly what I get (and that didn't take long at all, either). Go here and you will not be disappointed!

Just ate here for the first time with the family. We had the pho (forgot which one) and the Pad Khee Mao. Both were delicious and as good or better than any of our favorite Pho and Thai places. It's not often you can find good Pho and Thai food in the same restaurant. It was a late sunny Saturday afternoon and the place was busy but not packed. Service was great and friendly. Food came out in a timely fashion. It was neat that the kitchen was visible from our table. We definitely recommend and would return.

  • Ibe M.

Awesome! We love Mai and her husband, Boon (I think that's how you spell his name??). They greet their frequents by name and even remembers their orders. Our family comes here all the time and it's never a bad experience. For those who don't know, Mai and Boon used to run Savan's so they still serve some Japanese cuisine too. Order the Katsu, the sauce is some of the best I've tasted. Or better yet, order 'The Bento.' It's way more than enough to feed two but if you're really hungry, why not, get one for yourself.

Finally I found a place where I actually like the phad thai, granted I rarely eat that dish anyway. I am very picky about Thai food, especially phad thai, so I am happy and surprised that I enjoy the one here. The spiciness is just right, flavors are good and the noodles not hard or too soft. I do, however, wished there was more bean sprouts and peanuts sprinkled on top. I've had the sliced beef and tempura shrimp as well and sadly those are just mediocre. The beef was a little over cooked and I just don't like their white rice for some reason. The sauce was pretty good, even though I would have preferred a tomato base sauce personally. My boss had ordered the egg rolls from here and loves them. I don't have an opinion myself because I like to make my own, tee hee.. The staff are very friendly here, they remember you very quickly even if you've stopped by just a couple of times. They instantly figured I was Lao, funny, and always speak the language to me. I, however butcher it and try not to sound like an idiot haha. I will probably be going back soon to try the red curry and fried fish. Depends because the place just down the street has really good curry... Phad thai though, good stuff. This opinion coming from a highly picky Thai restaurant eater.

My family have dined with Mai and Boon for over 20 years. When they moved from their former location, we were at a slight loss. On a fluke my parents found Mai Thai, and with that Mai and Boon. Even though my parents moved away from the area 15+ years ago, Mai ALWAYS remembers my parents and their "usual" dishes. While my mother and I were out on our yearly 'Staycation" we ended up at Mai Thai near closing on a Friday night. Mai was so happy to see my mother, asked about my father, and my daughter. I am not a Thai or Pho fan, however Mai accommodated me with Chicken Teriyaki. It was just as good as I remember. I am glad to know that Mai and Boon are still just as pleasant and successful, with great food. Give them a chance. As these reviews I have read are not that normal for their establishment. Mai runs a tight ship....

Great place! The staff is super friendly and nice. The restaurant is very clean and the service is speedy. Although, parking may be an issue during lunch time. Their menu is large and they offer many savory dishes. The prices are affordable and their serving portions are huge. Their lunch menu is absolutely delicious! Lunch prices range from $5.25 - $10.55 and dinner prices are about $11.25 (Thai plo dinner is served with rice, salad, miso soup, sunomono and tsukemono). Mai Thai is overall great! Please try them out.

Don't be fooled, it's actually a Thai restaurant!! Okay, I guess you could tell from the decor, but when there are signs of Pho & Thai, it can only be one that they're a specialty at. Last night was my second time coming here, for take out. My girl works up the street and so the workers there often come here for take out. So as she's working the late shift, I'm bringing her dinner. She asks for the phad thai and I order the phad sei hiew (see ew) for myself. The food was okay. When I got it to the car, it smelled GREAT though. Maybe I was too hungry to really judge taste, but it somewhat kind of plain. For the phad sei hiew, they use a different wide noodle from what I've had at other restaurants, but it's still good. It's actually wider and more sticky. The phad thai was nicely presented in my opinion. One thing I noticed was how fresh the green onions looked! Not sure why it stood out, but I was glad they used some young fresh green onion. The owner was very friendly. She gave me a take out menu for me to call in next time. The place was very tidy and clean. Since it was dinner time, it was pretty empty. Strange? Not really. The restaurant is located in a commercial area and so their busiest time is going to be lunch. I can see people coming to eat after work, but I came at 8PM and there was only one couple inside. Even their menu is catered to lunch hour. They have A LOT of variety for lunch versus dinner. Everything is really reasonably priced from 6 to 10 dollars, I'd even say this is probably one of the cheaper places to get Thai food. Will I come back? Yes, I want to try their other menu items. They even have a family menu!!

They know me when I walk in. They know what i order at this point. I always order the same thing, Pho Katoew. Pho Katoew is like if you took Phad Thai and made it into pho somehow. I love this place and its Pho Katoew, which is still the only thing i've ever ordered there. my fortune cookie says "you will be made stronger by adversity." But you won't find any adversity there. Just yummy phad pho.

When I checked out the business in March 2012, the place looked like it was out of business. Perhaps it was being remodeled, but no sign was present..

This was really plain thai food. If I ate it in the dark, I wouldn't have guessed Thai. The Phad Ke Mow was totally weak, like it was missing some type of seasoning, or sauce. It was more like a bland Chinese food. The whole dish had only two bites that tasted of basil. What a shame, I've come to expect that delicious flaver from Thai food. The wide rice noodles were overcooked so that they fell apart between the chopsticks. The texture might have been a bigger disappointment than the flavor. Like an asian version of noodles with ketchup. This Thai restaurant is for people who don't know any better. For the "chicken pad thai" crowd. I hope their Pho is their specialty. Seriously, I've never used the tableside Pho condiments on my Phad before, but I was putting sambal and hoisin all over my noodles. Every condiment I could get my hands on, putting it all over the Phad, trying to spice it up. The server was very friendly and I would try the place again because of her. But I wouldn't eat a noodle dish.

Been to Mai Thai & Pho several times now and I've got to tell everyone, the Kai Karaage (Thai style fried chicken) is absolutely fabulous; crispy on the outside with just the right spices, and juicy on the inside (not dried out like some chicken places). Go before noon or after say 1:00 PM. The place is packed during lunch. Go often enough and the staff remembers your name. Like family there.

I went here for lunch. The service was very friendly. The food was fairly standard. I ordered Mongolian Beef. It wasn't particularly tender. The food arrived fairly quickly from the point we ordered, and the portions are very generous. For the prices, it is affordable for a quick lunch. In all, this place is one that you could go to if there's no other option for you and you would walk away satisfied.

The owners are the nicest people in the world, and the food is awesome! Downside is that they are closed on Sundays--which is usually the day of the week I'm free enough to head out for a treat.

This place rocks our socks off. They make the 2nd best (haha sorry) phad se ew ever! They know us at this point even though we only come every other weekend or so lol. The staff and our waiter, Rattana (?) is his name I think lol is SUPER friendly. He knows we like our food really spicy and they are always willing to accommodate us. Their phad thai is awesome. I always said you know a thai place is authentic is when they can make good phad thai and this place surpasses it. It's the kind of place I can take my parents to and order a few dishes and have an authentic Thai family meal and because these people can speak our language my parents would love them. Someone said their serving portions are huge and it couldn't be more true. I always have to get a to go box whenever I come here because I can't ever finish my meal. Most definitely order their spring rolls (fresh rolls, whatever you wanna call it). It's the best! It comes w/ two different dipping sauce, the usual peanut one and this amazing garlic one that has a nice unexpected tang to it.

This is the best Thai food around these parts. I have followed the owners for several years in the community and they are very gregarious and warm people. They remember you, where you like to sit, what you like to eat, etc. This adds up to excellent service. Add great Thai food into the mix and I'll come back every time. Would eat again! A+++ ;)

We have been long time customers of Mai and Boon, we'll follow them anywhere they go, but hopefully this is their final place because it's so cute and homey. Her food is made with love and she makes you feel so welcomed. She remembers exactly how you like something, it's an amazing talent. Everything on the menu is wonderful but my favorite if the Tum Kai soup, best in the city!

My boyfriend has been happily exclaiming over this place for months, so we finally got around to checking it out together last night. And man, he's not wrong. 1) The service. We were seated fast, by the owner/propietor, a Thai woman named Mai (so "Mai Thai" is not just a clever name!) She remembered my boyfriend clearly, asked my name, and was so friendly. Throughout the whole experience she checked in on us, made sure we were happy and clearly cared about our experience, but still left us alone plenty for us to chat to each other and eat the delicious food. 2) The price - totally reasonable. Both quantity and quality are there, and at an affordable, fair price. Love it. 3) The atmosphere - nice booths, comfortably lit, clean, nice decorative fans etcetera. It's not fancy at all, but it's just right for the kind of restaurant it is. Cheerful, comfy, clean. 4) The food. Oh man. We shared the 'Fresh Spring Rolls' (these are the ones that are fresh, in rice paper, not deep fried...the rubbery sort of ones) and they came with peanut sauce AND garlic sauce. A very generous sized portion - four large rolls. Really delicious. Then we each had the Pho Katoew, as it's my boyfriend's favourite thing on the menu. We call it 'Faux Pho", because it's not like traditional Pho, but it's amazing. BUT - DON'T ORDER THE LARGE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ENORMOUS, ENORMOUS APPETITE. We both had leftovers and nearly had to waddle out. It's really, really big. Anyway, it's a coconut milk, curry, bean, peanut soup, with pork, basil, cilantro, bean sprouts and egg, and I'm sure more things I don't know about. It;s rich, creamy, hearty, warming and satisfying, with flavours of sweet and some salty, and some spice/heat (add more if you like, with the excellent variety of condiments at each table). This is really spectacular soup. -A WARNING, though....when Mai, the very friendly Thai lady with the enormous smile who seems so kind, tries to convince you to bite into one of the Thai Chili peppers? If you are a westerner (okay, fine, a wuss) like us, don't do it! My boyfriend and I were both still gulping water, fanning our tongues and wincing ten minutes later. But it was fun to try (in a painful way) and now we know. The wily vixen talked us into dessert - a delicious sticky black rice pudding with coconut ice cream - to "cool off our tastebuds"! Well...it worked...but we're onto her now! This is a great little restaurant. I want the to thrive. We'll come back for sure - and maybe next time even try something different.

This place was empty when I came here right at dinnertime, and when I got my food I knew why. The phad thai was gluey, sour, and bland. And the owner hovered over me the entire time I was eating, not friendly so much as demanding--"It's good, yes? You like it, yes?" It's not good, no. I don't like, no.

It's close to an area I frequent. Specific, no? Anyway it's a centrally located thai place that is open late, what more could a girl with bad sleep habits want? Stay away from their (extensive ) drink menu. I ordered a blueberry smoothie and it tasted like grape flavored children's tylenol. Stick to the food.

Just visited this place for lunch today and we were very impressed. We eat Pho a lot and are always looking for a new place to trump our number 1 and this place finally did it. We started off with the fresh spring rolls, usually an order only comes with 2 but here they give you 4 which is a ton of food. We each also ordered our normal Pho, note to self do not order the large again, its way too much. We will definitely be visiting this place again in the near future.

Despite the title, this is a Thai restaurant, Not vietnamese. For those that don't know, Pho is vietnamese. Being the definitive critic on pho in the renton area, I must try the pho here...and the verdict is a NO for me. With that said, the Thai food is good, but adding the price to the equation, I have to say it is at par with the other Thai restaurants in the area. Still, it is a busy place, so something is going well for them. The service is superb. So to summarize, Thai food is a go, but skip the pho. Hey that almost rhymed...:P

Great place. They know you the minute you walk in and at only my second visit. It is like visiting the local dinner-in southeast asia. Food is all top rate. Fast service. Fair price. Phad Thai excellant. Be careful do not confuse this with the Thai restaurant east of Lind or you will be very sorry. That place sucks, this brings luck. Enjoy
