Awesome sushi and awesome service! I really enjoyed my meal and I will definitely go back!

I went to Oto Sushi with the family for dinner. I called to make reservations but they put our name on the waiting list instead so we didn't have to wait when we got there. I had the Chirashi which turned out to be a great deal. 25 dollars and probably more sashimi pieces than the normal sashimi menu. There was more fish than rice so I was definitely happy to have ordered it. There was a diverse range of fish so if you are a hard core sushi lover I definitely recommend getting it. Oh the complimentary edamame was pleasant surprise. We're definitely coming back.

Good quality fish, fun ASIAN sushi chefs, and a wide menu. Plus the price is good! I'll be back! Three days later... I'm back. Still can't get over the happy hour prices (till 5:45 all week! - waitress just said "long, happy time!" How cute! Giggle) and ordered more this time. Sushi chef Peter remembered me and thanked me for this review. THAT is great staff right there! Added a star!

Ok, so I know it's a sushi place, but if you have all the different teriyakis and are charging 19 bucks for steak teriyaki, have a decent piece of meat. It was chunks of a poor piece of meat, fatty and chewy. Do NOT get the steak teriyaki. Plus no broccoli and was served with rice on the side, not like traditional teriayki. Ok so maybe my sushi was better. No. The salmon was a poor grade. And they offer wood chopsticks. Now, normally I wouldn't be uppity about chopsticks, but I find sit down sushi places should have better chopsticks, not disposable ones. Service was very nice and happy. But I will absolutely not go back.

Service was great. Our server was friendly and attentive. The menu is really extensive and there are so many different rolls to choose from. (More than necessary, in my opinion. Takes too long to read the menu. But that's fine.) Our food came out fast. We ordered a sashimi plate and three rolls. The fish was fresh and everything tasted great.

I've been to Oto twice for lunch so far, and both times have been good experiences. The customer service is great here! The staff is extremely attentive - our waitress checked back with us more than three times, which is usually pretty rare. The sushi chefs are knowledgeable about all the menu items and also personable. One of them genuinely answered a woman's questions about the sushi equipment and procedures instead of just giving a simple reply. This customer was very interested in sushi-making methods and the chef seemed happy to discuss. A basket of edamame is complementary, and the food is prepared quickly! **3 Combo Lunch Bento - Chicken Teriyaki, California Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll - served with salad, soup and rice. The food tastes delicious - I enjoyed the teriyaki as the sauce has a nice balance between salty and sweet. The sushi has a thinner layer of rice and more fillings than other restaurants which is a plus. However, the pieces are fairly small. The serving size of the bento was enough for me, but it may not be filling enough for other hungry adults.

I would love to give this place a five but there's service can be so hit and miss sometimes. When it's great it's amazing and makes me wanna come back. But on the flip side, when it's bad service I don't want to ever come back. The food never fails to please. My fave is the soft shell crab roll or the five alarm roll. I don't like spicy but this roll is that good. Everything is just great, fresh sushi that I can't get enough of. I will come back and enjoy but always have it in the back of my head "How's the service going to be?" will be there until it doesn't happen often.

We had a large group that came in for lunch and we were seated promptly. I had the lunch combo with a curry katsu and tuna roll. I'm not a huge fan of the fact that the lunch roll is a mere 4 pieces of sushi, but the combo does also come with an entree, rice, soup, salad and a little orange slice. The katsu pork was well done and not chewy at all, although I think the curry sauce had made the breading a bit soggy by the time it came out. The roll was tasty, and the fish was fresh. Service was pretty good, although I think the size our group frazzled the servers a bit. At one point half the table had tea, and the other half had water. It was as if the server brought over tea and started serving at one end of the table, and then spaced when they went to get a refill and brought waters instead. No harm done though, and they did bring out other drinks for everyone else. Overall, their lunch deals are pretty decently priced, coming to a bit over $10 with tax and tip. I also like that there are different options to pick from, so you can really mix and match your own rolls and entrees. That said, I still would like more sushi roll with my lunch, as I'm a pretty small person and I was still a bit hungry when I left. There's parking out the front, but it can get busy.

My lovely place. Their sushi is a bomb. Great service as well. I tried also soup with seafood-delicious. All food is fresh.
(5)Glenda J.
Had no idea they have happy hour, so it was a pleasant surprise! We were seated immediately at the bar. Free edamame. Sapporo on tap. Everything on their happy hour menu was mediocre. Not on their happy hour menu was toro and King Salmon. Not cheap but if you are looking for what's fresh for the day, this is it. Service was efficient until they'd realized they'd forgotten to ring up one of our items (seems they did that too for the couple next to us) Great ambiance with tasteful music.

Such a excellent place! Wasn't to expensive and the fish was really, really fresh! We were looking for somewhere to get sushi before going to see a play at second story repertory theater at 7:30. We arrived at around 6:30 and were out by 7:15, perfect timeout! to Our hostess was very attentive and was really helpful explaining not just what the differences in fish was, but what body part the meat came from on the fish! For starters, order off the specials, we had the white salmon nigiri. For our main course we then had the northwest roll and spider rolls. Afterwards we just thought the specials still looked so good and enjoyed the white king salmon so much that we had to try something else so we had the blue fin tuna nigiri. Would definitely go back to this place!

What a delightful surprise! The atmosphere was simple but excellent, service was great, friendly and helpful. The food was fresh and delicious!! Will definitely be back for more.

Came for lunch with a co worker. Got there when they opened which is 11:30 so first ones in. They were great very accommodating as my friend is gluten free. She placed an order and the server was adamant to the chef for it to be gluten free and the chef was clear on what was and wasn't. Also had the gluten free soy sauce. Lunch prices are great for what you get! I probably shouldn't post here about it because its so good! I been to the kirkland location and the quality is on par. Will be one of my go to spots for lunch.

For many years, I was a fan of Kikuya, the Japanese restaurant that formerly occupied this space. I mean the old place really went downhill over the years, but I wasn't expecting that to drive them bankrupt or anything. So I go out of town for a while, right? And I come here to find that the new Oto Sushi has taken Kikuya's place. So now the big question is: did it improve? Is the new store better than the old store? Well, I was surprised to learn that it's basically the same! Yeah, it's a new name, but that's about it. The interior of the restaurant is largely unchanged; the layout of the place is nearly identical. They put little to no effort in remodeling, so this place has a very familiar look to it. For my lunch here, I would rather have had expensive sushi over cheap udon, so I ordered the nigiri + maki for $12.95. Yeah, it's pretty steep, but they actually had a bunch of other sushi items on the menu that included fewer pieces; I wanted to get the most value for my dollar. Edamame, miso soup, and salad appetizers came to my table. The first two were fine, but the big problem with the salad was that it was way too dry. There was no dressing on this salad! The sushi was nothing special, either. Twelve pieces on a tray with wasabi on one side and ginger on the other. Soy sauce was available on the table, but it didn't save this meal. For the price I paid, this totally isn't worth it. Maybe if the restaurant switches ownership again, but for now, pass.
(3)Sarah P.
Really delicious and fresh sushi! The chefs are Chinese but know what they're doing. One gave a little lesson on tuna, pulling out all the different pieces and showing what parts count as toro or not. We had the perfect salmon roll, salmon nigiri, gator roll, and flight white fish. All were perfectly made and the service was great too!
(5)Carmen Q.
Oto Sushi is nestled in downtown Redmond and serves everything you can imagine in a sushi roll. Their extensive list of rolls is just overwhelming, but that means there's a roll for everybody! Actually though, it's a task to read through and find rolls that you like, which is why it's great that they can put anything you want inside them, just ask! We ordered seven rolls between four people with a side of tempura, and we were super full. It came on a large boat and I couldn't have been happier! None of the rolls really stood out, so you'll have to do your own reading on that part. It was slightly pricey for what it was, but I would still come back again and try out some different rolls. They have great service, nice environment and a good selection of rolls.

We come here on a regular basis and always are very pleased with our meal and the service. A couple months we happened upon their Happy Hour. It lasted until 6 pm and had some great prices. Last time they had a special running that if you check in on Facebook you got 10% off your bill. Sign me up! We will definitely be back.

I'm really torn because I love the Kirkland Oto Sushi and go there pretty frequently. I happened to be in the area during lunchtime on Friday, so I decided to swing by. It is a much bigger restaurant than the Kirkland site, but very... separate, disjointed? Each little section of the restaurant seems cut off from the next. But anyway, I sat at the bar since I was a party of one ;) When I arrived the restaurant appeared to be fairly empty, with a few tables scattered here and there. I ordered some sushi and waited. While I waited it got busy, lots of table filling up and getting pretty loud. Food - I waited really long for my one sushi roll and three pieces of Nigiri. I wasn't in a rush, but the Sushi Chef did acknowledge that it was taking long and apologized when he handed me my rolls. The order was slightly wrong (I didn't want sauce on my roll, but he put sauce on it... I didn't say anything because it wasn't a huge deal and I was hungry at this point). Sushi was really good and I enjoyed it. Service was good - servers very attentive. Borderline too attentive, but my needs were met, can't complain. I think every server asked if I was doing okay, which added up to someone asking me if I was okay every two minutes. Something about the vibe at this location I just wasn't feeling. It feels all big and broken up and loud and just, meh. Food was good, service was good, I don't know. I'm being a witchy Kirkland snob maybe? LOL, IDK!!! But eat here, the food is good, don't listen to me.

Really enjoyed my trip! Sushi was tasty, and to my excitement (since I was concerned by the "no substitutions" rule) they have a ton of options that are shellfish free. My alert that I am allergic was met with appropriate concern, and our server was very attentive to empty glasses and plates. The only complaint I have is that my sushi came out within ten minutes (yay!) But my fiance's Nigiri took ten more and his Gyoza almost twenty more after that. Overall, great place. I'll be back.

We've been here about 3 times now, and the service has improved over the first time which was in 2014. The fish is super fresh, and the happy hour is fabulous. They must have discontinued the "free edamame" because I have never been offered that. Maybe you have to ask for it??? Not sure. Anyway, we've had mostly a variety of different fresh fish rolls, the tempura shrimp which was super crunchy, fresh and delicious. My sister was with me once, and she was very happy with the katsu don, she doesn't do raw fish. Can't wait to try more items from the menu or specials.

I've been wanting to try Oto Sushi and really enjoyed it. The ambience is nice with the sushi bar the center of the focus but with lots of tables as well. Their Happy Hour (from lunch through 5:45pm daily) is AMAZING with great prices on apps, sushi, and drinks. The fish was very fresh and service was fast. The only weird thing is their TV is constantly turned to CNN which is a bit strange -- they wouldn't even show the Seahawks game this Sunday LOL! That said, Oto is definitely added to my list of eastside go-to sushi places!
(4)Kathleen C.
Food: I feel like I've been eating too much sashimi lately (I know, how can that be...) so opted for the Nabeyaki Udon. Portions were pretty generous for $11. Pretty normal, nothing bad, and was good for what I wanted at the moment. They have some happy hour/lunch specials 11am-230pm that I would likely come back for as I don't work too far away. Also, complimentary edamame! Prices: Overall glance at the menu, reasonable pricing. As I didn't try too much it's hard to say if its worth it. Maybe a updated review when I visit again.
(4)Chris S.
Was there with my daughter. She was in heaven. The staff were so professional. I will definately go again.
(4)D C.
Fish quality was very good but pieces were very small. Also not a very good selection of small sake bottles and no fresh Wasabi. But very convenient as I can just walk here.

My grandaughter, loves the tempura mix vegetables. My nigiri rice lack vinegar and sweetness, the service was excellent

Too furious to write a novel right now, so I'm going to make this short. * Walked in 22 mins before they close and was thrown a menu, mentioned it was my first time there but I knew what I wanted and was told to hurry up and order, last call. * They locked the door immediately behind me like they were about to be bum-rushed by the masses! * Less than 5 minutes later, they produced the saddest looking rolls for almost $30 that I have ever seen in my LIFE!!!! * If they are to survive, they need to replace their hostesses and chefs! Nothing like getting robbed by a sushi joint on a Saturday night! NEVER AGAIN!!

Great lunch spot! They literally have Happy Hour all day and a lunch menu. They are great and work with you if you need to have Gluten Free options. The food is plentiful and fresh. The restaurant is clean. The staff is friendly. I have only been once but plan to go back often.
(4)Sergei G.
The food is decent, nothing exceptional, but the service is always slow. Today they outdone themselves. I was in a group of 7 people and got my order after everyone else finished theirs. I had to ask to pack it in the box. Still I had to pay mandatory 18% tip.
(1)Jen W.
Came here for their happy hour and I must say I'm very impressed. They have a wide selection to choose from with very reasonable prices. Plus you get a free miso soup with every two rolls. We got the Fire alarm, Godzilla roll, Dragon roll and spicy salmon(which was actually whole fresh salmon, not the ground up one). Everything we got was yummy. I would def recommend checking this place out if you're in the area.
(4)Diana L.
For its price range, this place has the best chirashi, more enjoyable to me than the ones from Ginza or Musashi's. Wonderfully flavored rice, fresh sashimi. The salmon kama was also really delicious. It was pretty busy when we came in on a Friday night during a holiday weekend, but it was a well-managed kind of busy, not chaotic. I think I'll come back here again and hopefully it'll be as great as it was this time.
(5)Michael C.
Love this place. In my opinion it's the best sushi in Redmond, especially the nigiri. However, the rolls aren't that original. They're OK and I would get but a roll you know will be good, but opt for the nigiri. The sushi is fresh (like, REALLY fresh) and the servers are friendly. Best sushi in the area, and I've only been to one restaurant that can compete.
(5)Brian J.
We've been frequenting the Juanita location for some time (and loving it) before it finally came to Redmond. Same menu and sometimes the same people and while it's great having a closer destination the Redmond location isn't without its faults. Overall the sushi is great and always consistently good and fresh in our experience. The kids always enjoy the organic chicken teriyaki which is tasty though a bit premium priced. We're big fans of the tuna dinner, tuna flight and garlic nigiri flight. We've have several good rolls but usually default to the fire alarm roll. Sometimes this roll is significantly hotter than other times so be warned. The only area where Oto really gets dinged is in service. The staff is super nice and tries hard but when it's busy it can take ages for food to arrive. Last time we waited nearly an hour for just our first item from the sushi bar. During peak rush (Fri/Sat night) the sushi chefs can't keep up. It's a shame for what's an otherwise usually great meal. The only other knock is sometimes (like right now as I'm writing this) there are small fruit flies buzzing around and annoying me. Still, good sushi and convenient if you live in the Redmond area, just try and get there early or on an off time.
(4)Joel B.
Even though our first experience was not a good one, we decided to go back to see if they had improved. We have been back 3 times since and I'm very happy to say that this place now has its act together. Two of the times we went back were Friday evenings just like the first time so we feel like it was a good comparison. Each time we have patroned, we provided our input directly to restaurant staff. I feel like they took it to heart because we were told that based on feedback from customers, they revamped the management of both of their locations. They were well staffed and our order was given to us in a timely fashion. I would consider this a major turn-around.
(4)Peter W.
Visiting the area for a week led me to explore the vast universe of sushi bars in Seattle's eastern suburbs. This place did not disappoint. The sushi chefs were conscientious and easy to converse with during the course of our meals (yes--we went twice). Their knowledge and enthusiasm for the wide variety of FRESH seafood they offer was appreciated by our group. And, best of all was the sake list, which included some specials, and was expertly served in a nice carafe with an internal ice pocket to keep it cool. The bottom line is that you can't go wrong with Oto Sushi - Redmond.
(5)Angel I.
Finding a good sushi place is rather difficult especially where I live. I, however, tried many sushi places in the Seattle and Bellevue area, but the fish weren't as fresh and the place was overpriced. I checked on Yelp to see if there are any good sushi places to try and I came upon Oto Sushi. When I first arrived there, I was a little unbeknownst of the nigiris, sashimis, and rolls to partake. The servers, manager, and sushi chefs were super friendly and answered any questions/concerns based on what I should try. One of the sushi chefs recommended it to me since it just came into their restaurant and is freshly cut. I tried the Flight of Blue Fin which consists of O-toro, Chu Toro, and Blue Fin. I couldn't resist the temptation of trying fresh fish. I was very pleased and satisfied. The taste of fatty fish which I love and it literally melts in your mouth which always makes my day complete. The price was very reasonable. Nice staffs and great sushi, I mean come on, who wouldn't like that? I will be coming here more often!

My husband and I visited here recently, and were delighted with the amount of choice. I like the simplicity of the restaurant, open and airy. We were seated right away, and found the servers nice to deal with. My husband and I skipped the appetizers so that we could have sushi + another entree. We ended up going with Chicken Katsu Curry, and the Chicken Teriyaki. We loved both of these dishes, the sauces were perfect and the plates jam-packed with food! The sushi was gorgeous, very fresh, and brought to you as prepared. It's nice to see them making it behind the bar. I got a green tea mochi (ice cream) just for curiosity, and it was really yummy. Overall, we really enjoyed this place. It was great value for money, very fresh, and plentiful. I will update the review on the next visit, hopefully we have a consistent experience.

WORST. SERVICE. EVER. Seriously. In a nutshell, the food is pretty good, but the service is so disgustingly awful that I implore anyone wanting sushi in the area to go elsewhere. The Details: This is my second time visiting this location. The first time, the service was good, slow, but good. We had a large group for a company lunch (about 15 people), so it was understandable that the food service was slow. The food was good and I knew another group from my company would like to try a new sushi place in Redmond. Today I visited again for another company lunch (14 people total) and the service was the most horrendous, rude, bitchy service. Ever. When the first few of us arrived for our lunch, we were promptly seated in the back area. The server just pointed to the direction of our table. Then we were waiting for about 10 minutes to order appetizers and drinks. Since we hadn't seen the server come by, I got up to the front of the restaurant to ask if someone could take a drink order and if we could order some appetizers. The server was quite rude and abrupt; she was in the middle eating and clearly I had interrupted her. WTF. She eventually came over a couple minutes later to take our drink/appetizer order. At this time there was only 3 of us sitting down. By the time she returned with the food, a couple more people joined us, but she never stopped to ask them if they wanted anything to drink. We also didn't have any plates, so I had to get up again to ask the server if she could get the other peoples' drink orders and if we could get plates to eat the appetizers on. She came back with the rest of the drinks and YELLED the drink orders out. No, I'm not exaggerating. She would yell "HOT TEA" and just wait for someone to reply. But because it's a big table and people were talking, people at the other end of the table didn't hear her. She was clearly getting annoyed and didn't bother to walk any further along the table to check who ordered what. Come on now, don't just yell an order, then have an attitude when we don't respond immediately. WTF kind of service is this? Oh, that's not all. She disappeared again for another 15 minutes. We were ready to order, so I had to get up AGAIN (3rd time now) to ask her if we could please order our entrees. She came back, noticed that there were a couple seats empty, she said, "You said you'd have 14 people, where are the others?" in such a rude tone, it was more of an accusation that we can't order until everyone was seated. I told her, well, people have meetings and were running late. We'd still like to order our lunch entrees. So she stood at the head of the table, didn't look at anyone, just at her notepad, and ordered "Okay, someone order", then she'd say "Next" when she was done with that person. So literally, we were YELLING our order across a long table because she wouldn't move to be closer to those at the other end. When someone would order something that was specific enough, she would reply "What one are you talking about?" in a very 'soup-nazi' way. As if we were inconveniencing her to be at the restaurant. WTF. I understand large tables aren't easy to accommodate; I've worked in the restaurant industry. But our party are all professional management consultants, so no one was being rude, they were all trying to be nice and help her out. It was her attitude that she clearly didn't want to be there, clearly didn't want to serve us, and could care less about the entire experience. After she took our order, she then stood there waiting for everyone to hand her the menus. Um, yes, we will help you, but we are not there to serve YOU, YOU are a server. This is your job. Learn how to do it properly. How embarrassing; this was a company lunch to relax and treat people. Not to feel like we had to pay to make this girl's life easier. I had to get up and ask for the manager, whom was not in at the moment. She had asked why I wanted to speak with a manager, and I had to explain, because her service was horrible, rude, and she had a big attitude. She explained I could 'leave a note', but likely if I did, that note would never find it's way to management. The service was slightly better after I told her she was being obnoxious, but only slightly. She still never came back to check on us and still wanted us to make her job easier. BOTTOM LINE: I'm so infuriated by this awful excuse of service, that I personally and my company will never be coming back again.

This is a best place to eat sushi in Redmond that we could find. The service is not the greatest, but the food is always good. Price are not bad either. We have been going there once a month for 2 years and are not planning to stop. They have a great Happy hour.
(4)Stef M.
Really I can't fault anything with my experience here - stopped by for lunch today after seeing my fellow Yelpers had all really liked it here, and I can see why! Sushi is fresh, the space is warm and welcoming, servers were friendly and kept my cup of hot tea full nonstop! The price is right, too - $12 for 2 big rolls, and lots of options for mixing and matching rolls and kitchen items for $10 on the menu. They had a "get 10% off if you check in" offer on the chalkboard when I walked in, too. I tried 2 rolls: the spider roll (classic tempura soft-shell crab, snow crab, avocado, cucumber, masago) and the Buddha roll (tempura asparagus, yam, avocado, topped with inari and a liiiiitle bit of sweet sauce). Both were really good - great rice, crispy and fresh tempura ingredients. The green tea they serve is nice as well. No tea bags here - and they give you a TON of refills even when the place is jam-packed full of people. Thanks! I'll be back.
(5)Betsy T.
Not super pleased. The people are really nice, and the sushi is okay. Last time we were there, there were so many fruit flies flying around our table, I could barely eat. There are not many options for vegetarian/vegan/gluten free diets. Maybe one sushi roll and one salad. All their broths are with fish sauce. Just not super accommodating.
(2)Jessica V.
Authentic Japanese food and friendly service. The staff are genuinely eager to make your experience a good one. Ask the chef what he recommends today (although it's all very good). Love coming here for lunch!
(5)Clint W.
we came here for lunch and i admit that i had a spot of trouble finding it. my friend had to direct me into the strip mall. i was expecting a little lunch take out place, but it's actually pretty nice inside. i could see stopping in for dinner some time. the menu was bigger and more expansive that i expected, as well. edamame comes right to the table while you peruse the menu. gotta like that. hot tea on the way! since there were so many options (and a ton of different rolls), i had to try a couple of things. i busted down some nigiri and then had the nabeyaki udon. the nigiri was fresh and tasty. loved the udon...rich broth, shrooms, napa, fish cakes. heck, it was good. its out of my way, but i would definitely be here if it was closer. only knock down was for the staff. they were a little too quick to ask for our orders, even after we asked for more time. plus, the bill came to the table while i was still eating.
(4)Abra E.
My favorite place for sushi. We usually visit the Juanita restaurant but the Redmond place is bigger, fancier, and more of a sit down comfortable location. Mexican roll and Crunchy roll are my favorite. Great lunch prices that can't be beat! ($5-$9 per specialty roll) with soup and edamame.
