I love this place. It's lovely and it's relaxing and it's different from all other Thai food I've had: It's fresher and presented beautifully. The spicy scallop ( Andamon Pearl or something like that) is one of my favourite dishes along with the prawn satay as an entree (It's normally an app.). The Spicy basil dish is yummy with a cold, crisp Pinot Gris or a Riesling. The plates are the perfect portion size and I have to tell you, this has got to be some of the healthiest food you can eat along with the prettiest (Not that that should matter, essentially but it IS nice to have a visual feast every now and again). The thing that I appreciate the most is the really gracious people who run the place. They are just the best. I mean it.

pricey for street food. The spicy fried rice was excellent. my friend had the phad thay (for comparison) and it was decent. but the price ....

We visited because we had a Living Social coupon and was highly recommended by a friend. BUT, the noodles in the dish we ordered came out all sticky and over done.. probably stale. I have cooked better noodles at home.. How hard is it to boil noodles???

This place has the best Tom yum soup around. And the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. will be back!

We love this place but only go a couple times a year because we live in Seattle. We went twice last month and got take out so I cannot comment on service. Certainly the people behind the counter weren't super smily but that was okay because the food was amazing. We got the..can't remember what they call it- the basil ground chicken dish which is heavenly and pad thai with tofu which was awesome too! My mouth waters just thinking about it.

The food was not abysmal, but it was not good either. I actually like my food cooked and when I ordered a rich dish with vegetables, I didn't expect the mushrooms and spinach to be pretty much raw. It was listed as 'steamed veggies"...and I think that the cook moved them from the counter to my plate, passing over the steamer, and thus decided they were steamed. I ordered dessert because a friend raved about it. Dessert would imply some sweet substance was involved. However, my black rice pudding was cooked rice and coconut milk. That's it. No sugar. I felt like I was having dark colored plain oatmeal. The server was nice and the decor was ok. Nothing to rave about though.

I went here with friends for a bachlorette party. Everything was going great untill the food. We were 10 people and all of the food was dilvered seporatly. The Woman of the hour, got her food last. I asked for 3 stars in mine beacuse I like it hot, it was ok, not hot enough, but my tofu coconut soup was delish! The service was not good, but the food was great.

I heart Iyara! I had the Papaya Salad and it was so good, I think my favorite dish so far. I also love the black sticky rice with coconut milk - so so good! The service is always good and I love the warm inviting decor.

thanks to yelp, i chose this place as my first (takeout) dinner on this business trip to MS for a training. while it was crazy hard to find (seriously, bellevue-redmond, could you BE more confusing), even with a GPS, it was a good choice. i got the pad see ew with beef. the portion was quite large--i think a good value for what i paid ($9.80). not only that, but it was quite good. they didn't skimp on the beef and the broccoli wasn't too chewy. i'm not sure how i managed to fit everything in my tummy, but i did--and now it hurts. the restaurant itself is small but pleasantly decorated. it wasn't too crowded on this sunday night, with only two tables occupied. the service was very friendly. *thumbs up* parking is available right outside on the street during the evening hours. (i think otherwise it's 30-minute limit, iirc.)

Came here on a recommendation from a friend of this place being amazing. I was a tad disappointed. Service was very good and quick. Thai Iced tea was too bitter. Chicken Satay was decent Yellow Curry was ok. Chicken was cooked perfectly, but flavor was a tad bland (ordered spice level of 2 - the lowest). Brown rice was very good.

Easily the best Thai place in Redmond. The only alternative is Silver Spoon thai in Redmond Ridge. Iyara has a somewhat less traditional menu with many items you won't find at other places. Everything on the menu is incredibly fresh and light relative to other thai places. I go here when I want some 'healthy' feeling thai food. All their beef dishes are amazing! The atmosphere is also very nice here. The take-out is quick and easy (if that's what your in to :) )

Our new favorite in the Redmond area.

  • Angel L.

A friend and I went here for lunch. I had the Yellow Curry Fried Rice. Definitely tastes like it sounds. I'd say it was an interesting flavor (not in the I know this "interesting" girl you should go on a blind date with, but more like unique interesting). And my friend had one of their specials and gave it a big thumbs up

  • Kristi H.

This place is delicious. We had Panag Curry w/Chicken (My Favorite!), Phad Thai, Thom Yum Gai and one other dish off the specials list that I can't remember the name of. I believe this place used to be called Redmond Thai quite a few years ago and at that time it was really good. I haven't been here in years and it is just as good as I remember.

Iyara is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Redmond. It's small and cozy, the staff is very friendly, and the food is superb. I will grant you that the ambiance in other Redmond area Thai restaurants such as Thai Ginger and Typhoon is a bit more upscale; however, the really nice thing about Iyara is its simplicity and the fact that it isn't as crowded as the other restaurants -- and that's a good thing, in my opinion. I've tried a bunch of the dishes. Panang Curry and Phad Thai and Cashew Nut Chicken are my favorites. Try it. It's a great little place. But try not to tell too many of your friends. Let's keep it a relatively quiet secret between friends. ;-p

Our chicken was raw and when we informed the server of this they offered no discount and were not very apologetic. We won't be back.

For me this is easily the best Thai option in Redmond. No, I haven't been to Typhoon yet, but it's difficult to go anywhere else when I have a craving for Thai food. The first time I went there, they had just opened and I tried the Bah-Mee. It's egg noodles, your choice of meat (if any), bean sprouts, onion, and cilantro, served on a bed of spinach leaves. If you want it spicy, they will deliver! Awesome! I would also recommend the Rahd-Nah, Pad Woon-Sen, Garlic Fish, and the Calamari Rings appetizer. They were also doing a seasonal menu the last time I was in and everything was exceptional. The restaurant is small, but the staff is nice and the atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. When I was able to be a regular, the owner of the restaurant actually brought me a souvenir back from Thailand! If your are ever in the area, I would definitely give them a try.

Lately I've been trying out all the great places on Yelp and this one came up during a search - "Woohoo another Thai place to try in Redmond!". I wish that Yelp allowed half stars because really I'd love to give this place 3.5 stars (with the extra .5 star due to the excellent service and friendly server). The place was nice enough but for some reason both my husband and I were uninspired and ultimately not sure we will go there again. We went on a Wednesday night and there was only one party in the restaurant. We ordered an appetizer (crab wontons), an entree (Pad See-Ew - though here I think it was spelled differently), and some jasmine rice. I can't say anything was bad because it was all decent - but yet the word I would use to describe the experience would be "meh". I do however encourage you to try it out for yourself because other reviewers have seemed to really love it so maybe it just didn't do it for me. The pros: -Service was quick and friendly The "meh" (but not quite cons): -Broccoli was a little raw - lukewarm -Three stars was not spicy here as in other Thai places I've had -Dish was a bit bland -Portions were OK for the price Like I said give it a try - it's really hard for me to deviate from the four star reviews of others. Maybe I just went on an off day. :0)

As almost everybody else has said - good food, good atmosphere and service with a smile. What else would one want from a dining experience?!?! The food was a little less spicy for our taste buds but we can increase the spice level next time; it was tasty though. It is also one of the few thai places that cooks curries in vegetarian base if you want. That was a big plus. We ordered yellow curry fried rice and vegetarian spicy curry - both were good. This is a one (wo)man show - she takes the orders, brings your order and handles the payments. So you might need to wait a little at times but the waitress is so sweet that you don't mind that. It has a very nice family-owned feeling. Atmosphere is really nice.

let me describe oour experience as a family which was TERRIBLE! first off we arrived @ this place @ 4:55 and were told (as the manager/waitress was arriving) very sternly "we are NOT open till 5". Fine, i get it, the attitude was bad. (the only reason we didnt leave is that we had paid for a groupon certificate BTW). We went back @ 5 (with an addiitonal family -total was 4 adults and 5 children 8-5-4-2-1.5). The waitress/manager (same person as before) was EXTREMELY UNWELCOMING especially when she saw the children!! Then it gets worst: she huffs/puffs while taking the order (so much so my wife felt compelled to ask her if everything was alright). We couldnt believe the attitude!!! Then we ordered Tom Yum soup and asked that it be split up in 4 small bowls for the adults only (as we do in ALL thai places we go to which never seems to be an issue) - she responds (again in a huff/puff manner), "only if we dont have more customers asking for more things to do"!!! (THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE @ THE PLACE WHEN THE ASK WAS MADE TO SPLIT UP THE SOUP). We ordered 3 main dishes and ~ 4 appetizers, (through the huff/puff constant attitude) she DIDNT SMILE ONCE!!! She even felt it a chore to get ICE FOR THE WATER!!! Finally - we get the bill, 130$$$ OMG!!!! AND SHE ADDED A TIP OF 18% FOR THE KIDS (8-5-4-2 and 1)!!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!! FAR BETTER CHOICES OUT THERE WITH SUPERIOR SERVICE - DO NOT GO ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN..........

Decent place. Food was good (not great, but good). Service was very good. Wait time very short.

My boyfriend and I ate here for the first time last week.! Very nice decor, excellent service and, the food YUM. I had the veggie phad thai...soo soo good! This is my new thai spot in Redmond ;)

No need to go anyplace else for Thai food when in and around Redmond. Some of the most authentic Thai food you will find on the Eastside. They tend to make their dishes on the sweet side for me but that's easy to fix by just asking them to make it less sweet and more spicy. Some dishes really should have a subtle hint of sweetness anyway and most don't know that about Thai food. If the owner is cooking you are in for a treat! The service is exceptional as long as they are not packed, still they try very hard to please no matter what. The server was very friendly and truly made us feel at home. She remembers customers names and always has great recommendations. The restaurant itself is easy to miss driving down Cleveland Street and the parking lot easy to pass-up if you don't park on the street out front. Inside the restaurant has a purple decor that is tastefully done and feels very comfortable, not over done. They usually play Thai music or Jazz in the evenings. Best time to try them out is a Saturday around 5pm, not too busy and you get great service. A real treat for your eyes and mouth! You have to check them out.

  • Angela H.

SO delicious. I love their food. Especially their coffee ice-cream donut esque dessert. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 is they keep the restaurant a little chilly, so dress warm! But definitely worth a night out.

  • Jonathan M.

Decent Thai flavor, quick service, but ultimately uninspiring. It was dark, and my food was mushy. It deserves a second chance.

This little cosy restaurant is by far one of my favorite Thai restaurants. Food is good! Common dishes like fried rice and pad thai are excellent. If you like fish, Pla Lard-Prig is also nice with sweet tangy sauce. Employees there are very nice friendly. Lately, the portion seems to have gotten a bit smaller, and sometimes flavors are bit different (different cooks??). But all in all, foods are pretty good, and my husband and I keep going back to this place. It's a bit hard to spot this place if you don't know what you are looking for. But I do recommend place, and I want to see more people going there so that we can keep their business going. I don't want to see them go away. By the way, you don't have to park your car on the street. There's actually enough parking space behind the restaurant.

Lets just say I eat here twice a week and they know my name when I call in my to go order. The beef salad with sticky rice is my ultimate fav, as well as the Panang Curry and Cashew chicken. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, as is the staff. There is never a wait to sit down or for to-go orders. I just moved to Greenlake last weekend, and I just about cried when I ate my weekly meal at Iyara.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Redmond - hands down. Nothing fancy, but good, solid Thai food at a reasonable price.

Pleasant place... My favorite dish is the cashew chicken (not particularly original but a crowd pleaser) and they have yummy fried green tea ice cream for dessert.

Just got back from dinner with my girlfriend. The place was pretty full on a Friday night (expected), but they only had one server (not expected). Because of this the service was a bit slow, but we weren't in a hurry. The staff made up for it when they surprised us with a free dessert. The Phad See Ew was the highlight, great sauce and the noodles were evenly coated (a pet peeve is when 2 or 3 layers of the wide noodles stick together, I'm strange). Our other entree was Andaman Pearl, a spicy scallop dish. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the sauce was good over jasmine rice, but watch out for the pepper bits. We ordered mild and still had a landmine or three. We got the Fresh rolls and Chicken Satay as appetizers. The former was more 'leafy' than you'd usually get, and tofu rather than shrimp or pork, but not bad with the tamarind sauce. The chicken was very tender and flavorful, especially with the peanut sauce. It also came with a pepper/onion/cucumber 'relish' that was good on its own, but I couldn't figure how to eat it with the kabob. All in all a great dinner, my new favorite Thai place on the East side. We'll be back.

Delicious pad Thai and great service. This is a no frills kind of place. Eat-in generally is not crowded and takeout is always prompt. You can get away with sharing most of the dishes since the portions are large.

Nice Thai spot for a quick and delicious meal! Came in for dinner and was promptly seated. We tried the pumpkin curry and a chicken dish with veggies. All in all it was quite good and each dish had a good spice to it. The waitress even brought us a small plate of free crab rangoon. Although against my diet...I tried one and they were quite tasty. Not a huge restaurant but the decor is pleasant and they have cushioned seating against the wall. Beer and wine were available and overall prices were fairly inexpensive. We left satisfied and had more than enough food.

I'm a little addicted to Thai papaya salads right now, so the other day I stopped by Iyara for a (very) late lunch. The waitress was quick and refilled my water glass a couple of times. I was pretty thirsty, so I was thankful for that. The salad itself was simple and quite good. Pretty big serving and plenty of tomato slices! I love tomatoes and get a little sad when I order a salad that only has one little tomato slice. The only surprise was that "two stars" was a little spicier than I'm used to here. When I got the bill, I was happy to see that the salad was a little cheaper than I'm used to paying for Thai salads in Seattle. Woo! Super special experience? Nope. Good? Yes! I'm likely to stop by again next time I'm in Redmond and craving some Thai food.

  • Kevin W.

Yes, this is good food... but I regret what I ordered. Better luck next time, right? I have a friend who swears that this is the best Thai food around; the Pad Thai that he got looked quite delectable. I ordered a pumpkin curry with prawns, and while it was quite good and relatively cheap, they could have been a little less stingy with the rice. Otherwise, I probably would have given them five stars! When I ordered my pumpkin curry, the waitress asked me whether I wanted rice. I didn't think much of it and said yes; she asked me whether I wanted white rice or brown rice. I only realized after getting the bill that there's an extra two-dollar charge for adding rice, and that seems absurd. Rice at Asian restaurants shouldn't cost so much, and especially not with curry because the two naturally go together. The curry was otherwise well made. It included a bunch of herbs that gave it an even more pleasant flavor, but they're the kind of herbs that are eaten and not tossed aside. They really could have provided more rice for it, though. There simply was not enough rice for the amount of curry, and that's an even bigger disappointment because the rice is so expensive. At first, I had thought it would be free, but they ended up charging me two dollars for such a meager amount. This is one of those rare times when I finish eating and think about maybe giving them five stars, and then I see the bill and change my mind. The place is clean, looks nice enough, and has good food. But I've been to a Thai restaurant in Kirkland where the rice was free, even including refills. That's the kind of place this should have been, and if they don't fix that problem, then I guess you should order something other than curry here!

Love the ambiance of this place. The food is good and the staff is friendly! I always try new Thai places by getting Penang Curry or Pad See Ew and Lyara Thai's was good! Will defiantly eat there again.

  • May S.

Yesterday, I ordered pad thai and.....boy!! It was delish!! I rate this restaurant 5 stars not only for their delicious pad thai but for their friendly staff and quick service. Thank you Iyara, I will definitely be back!

  • Michelle G.

I think this little place is a gem. I frequent it often, as I've always had good food and good experiences. I really enjoy the pad kee mao here. It's super flavorful, and the portion is quite good. I also enjoy the Panang Curry quite a lot. The gals that own this place are very sweet and hard workers. I love that it's a family business, and I'd much rather support the "little guy". The ambiance is really good, it's clean, the servers are friendly and efficient, and the food is very good. What's not to like?

  • Veez M.

We were mislead by the online reviews. The waitress couldn't be less interested and looked like she was happier to see us not order second course. The food lacked any flavor of Thai food and the chicken was not fresh in my fried rice. Not worth a second try.

  • An T.

First time I came her for lunch with a cowoker we had just beat the rush. Meaning get seated before noon or you may not be seated. They start you off with a small salad. I ordered the pad kee mow as I use this as a gauge for thai places or thai food. went with 3 stars. There was good spice to it but not overwhelming to the point that it burns too much to eat. That was good. I went with the tofu for this dish. I believe the tofu was pre cooked and had some sweet sauce or glaze on it. It wasn't the best that I have had it was decent. I came back as my coworkers like this place to give it another go. I wasn't very hungry so i decided to just get a couple apps. The fresh rolls sounded inviting and the chicken satay. I probably wouldn't get the fresh rolls again because its mostly salad with a lil bit of tofu but nothing really else... I am use to having noodles and shrimp or something besides a salad in rice paper. The satay was good the sauce was ok. I wasn't sure if it was peanut sauce or not at first. The service was fast and friendly.

The food is incredibly tasty, and is my new favorite Thai takeout place. I'm very picky about my Pahd Thai and I'm very fond of this one. Creamy Panang Curry and flavorful Heavenly Beef at very reasonable prices. The waitstaff are quiet, but friendly, and our food comes out in a timely manner.

    (5)
  • Anne M.

Visited here recently, have passed it a few times but finally went in this time. The interior is better than I thought. Servers are very prompt. Food is ok, our Chicken Satay appetizer didn't taste as fresh as it could have, won't order this again probably. Our entrees were fine, but not overly memorable. Will visit again to form a further opinion, but wouldn't go out of the way to come here.

  • Carly C.

This is my favorite Thai place in the area and it is mostly because of their Pad Thai. I like the way it is prepared- it isn't too saucy but still has tons of flavor. I only come here for lunch when working and their lunch specials just cannot be beat. $9 for main dish (several curry options with choice of chicken, beef, pork, prawns or tofu and a few others I can't recall), Rice, Pad Thai AND a small soup/salad to start. I actually usually have leftovers- and its a LUNCH PORTION! Is this the best place ever? Probably not. But I do always enjoy it, leave happy, they have great service and its cheap. Can't beat that.

    Great food with reasonable prices

  • AJ C.

I no longer live in WA, but with new owners this place is no longer the same. They changed the menu and lost all the interesting items and use different recipes now that are inferior. It's a bummer since this was my favorite place in Redmond.

    (3)
  • Ann A.

Food was ok, the service was slow. They really need to use more than one server during weekday diner. Took nearly 10 minutes just to cashier out of which the transaction itself only took 10 to 15 seconds.

    (1)
  • Arvin S.

The people in this restaurant are real Thai. They're friendly and courteous like true Thai demeanor. I'm just a bit disappointed with the food not tasting as authentic. I'm sure they can do better. But I suppose the only place to get real authentic Thai food is in the streets of Thailand.

  • Sameer K.

We went here last night for dinner before going to a play. I liked that they had front and back entrances, and adequate parking. Their menu was missing a couple of my favorite dishes, but the appetizer, 1 noodle dish, 1 fried rice dish and dessert were all quite good (even we leftovers today). The food was appropriate peppery to how we asked for it, and everything was brought to the table very quickly... So much so that we had waymore time in our evening schedule than I expected. I also appreciated the speed, as the chairs were a little uncomfortable for my leg length (whereas my wife thought they were good). All the dishes were a little higher priced than at most other Thai places I have been to, but not so much that I wouldn't go again. To sum it up: good food, good service, I would try it again if I were in the area, but I wouldn't go too far out of my way.

  • Regina C.

Service was great, but we were one of two tables...anyway the lady was really sweet. Fried rice- a little too much shine yes, too oily/greasy. Pad see ewe- awesome Fresh rolls- ok Panang curry 3 stars. Good Rice did not come with the dinner which I really don't like paying extra for white rice in an Asian joint. It's like paying for beans and rice in a Mexican joint. It's just not right.

I like Thai food...although this is not the best Thai food I've had, this is so far the best Thai food I've found in Redmond/Bellevue area. I love their Pad Thai and another appetizer I forgot the name, but a reviewer Dew here posted the picture of it, I like to use the lettuce to make a little wrap! :) Service is good here too, always filled your order very quickly, both dine-in and take-out. Definitely recommend!

  • Tina H.

I'm sorry, but the only thing positive I can say about my Cashew Chicken was that the chicken breast was tender. Otherwise the chicken, veggies and cashews were drowning in an oily soup and the only flavor was the one star spice. I usually go to Noodleland across the street but figured I'd give Iyara a try due to the positive reviews. I think I will stick with Noodleland for quick Thai lunches in Redmond.

  • Diana C.

Food is okay, not as good as it used to be. The noodles aren't quite as good as they used to be, the salad they used to serve is gone, the appetizers are smaller than previously, and the menu has changed significantly, not necessarily for the better. Service used to be good, but the guy that was really friendly isn't there anymore. The current staff is usually rude and makes you feel guilty for bothering them with anything other than your order and the check. Prices have also gone up. O'well, I found a new Thai place that's 2 minutes away that has awesome food and great service, so I guess it's not all bad!

  • Rachel T.

Let me say: the counter service was really nice, but $10.00 for my takeout "lunch special" rice and a lillipution amount of vegis is ridiculous. We're talking like a cup of vegis - and I requested extra. Literally. Nothing "special" about it. Wish I would have ordered a full size entree for the same price as I'm still starving. Just check out the picture, which says it all. What a rip off - and mediocre food. I'll never go back, which is a bummer as it's near my office. But again, the counter service was nice.

Iyara is our go-to "too tired to cook, just want to eat right now" resturant. it;s close to us, the food is consistantly good and the portions are usually just the right size for us. The people know who we are since we go there quite a bit, so they are very accomidating even if we come in close to closing. Although, I would not recomend getting the takeout because I've noticed on several occations that when you order noodles the longer they sit in the box, the sticker and more clummped together they get. Which is not good. Their desserts are amazing too! Seriously. The Coconut ice cream drowned in esspresso with Chinese Doughnuts and the Pandan Leaf and Cococut Custard are both to die for. Get them! I also do like that now they have weekly specials. Whenever we have tried them they've been very good. But I really like Iyara and it's deffiniatly the best Thai in Redmond.

We went there on a cold cold black Friday and despite the restaurant being a bit chilly, our server brought us warm water. It was a very nice surprise. I had the Massaman curry, which after several tantalizing bites, I was informed that it was the world's third most delicious food. If that's number three, I need to learn what two and one are. It was fantastic. The fiancee had the red curry, and loved it too. Bonus point, if you use cash, you get a 5% discount. Will definitely be back!

Came here once and had Tom Kha Gai for lunch. It was great " spicy". I came back again and had the same for dinner and it was just good. My friend had Pad Thai that looked very good. Friendly service and good prices. I will come back to try the Pad Thai.

It's been a while since we went and my impression has faded some... So this place scores a 3-4 star rating, but I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt with 4. We were a group of 5 and we waited a moment or two for them to accommodate and seat us. They were friendly and helpful. The food was good. We took our hosts out to eat, one of whom has worked as a chef (or generally in the kitchen) for his whole working life and he seemed satisfied. The appetizer we ordered, something with kiwi if my memory serves me well, was unique and yummy! The dishes we ordered were satisfying and with an appetizer, a few non-alcoholic drinks and the dishes we selected (I think 5), we spent about $72, and had food to spare. The service was good during the meal. I drink a lot of water at restaurants and I was pleased - that's one big criteria for me, a well replenished water glass.

I ordered Waterfall Noodles with FRESH tofu. I love love LOVE anywhere that offers not only deep-fried but delicious fresh tofu. The portion size was pretty decent. There were plenty of tofu cubes floating in the flavourful soup. In terms of the spiciness, I requested for 4 stars. My food was somewhat spicy, but not overtly spicy. (FYI: I'm a spicy food junkie.) The only bummer is I would have liked more veggies. Notwithstanding, I did enjoy my lunch very much! Good food + good service = Happy me! I can't wait to try different noodle dishes. (I'm also a noodle junkie.)

Delicious vegetarian food. I do not eat meat, so cannot comment on that. The yellow curry Fried rice is something to die for. It's the best dish I have eaten ever. Staff is great and courteous. Recommend it. I eat here 3 times a month.

True, Iyara can't compare to the Thai restaurants of the U-District but among its competitors here in Remond it seems to do okay. Service was a bit slow for a pick-up order, especially since the restaurant was 1/4 filled. Spoiled by Seattle's finest (thai food that is) I knew this pad thai would hold no candle to my typical standards. With my preconceptions holding true, Iyara was in an uphill battle from here on out. Pad thai was meh, a bit bland and too sweet. Chicken skewers were a bit dry, but came with a delicious peanut sauce. I'd give service a (2/5) and food a (3/5), considering the area. It'd be fair to say I'd try other Thai restaurants in the area before returning here.

Good food. Great service. Price is decent for it's location.

Surely, not the best Thai out there. Seems the quality and variety of Thai food these days are melding together and becoming homogenized. Remember that Thai place in Kirkland next to the QFC that burned down? They had baked pumpkin in their Panang Curry! Who does that anymore? Oh, they burned it down alright.... Anyway....Iyara is pretty good food. But the reasons we will go back are these.... 1. Some of the pictures of meals look like friendly animals 2. It is so relaxing in there 3. Service is impecable 4. Curious to see if the music can get any worse Most recently ate the Panang Curry and Heavenly Beef....both pretty good. Beef was better but could have used more sauce.

Authentic, delicious Pad Thai. Nice people, super fast, large serving and good price. Who could want for more?

We used to love this place (especially pad kee mow). In the recent past, the quality of the food has been declining (freshness and taste) and it is a hit or miss. I think they also have a new owner and that hasnt helped either. I hope they fix these issues

Best Thai food in Redmond. Fast service and everyone is friendly. Bench seating is a little close and weird on the far wall. Can be hard to find for people that don't know the area, but is totally worth it. Everything is good. Note: The heat stars you pick are Thai heat stars. Even a 3 star of Som Tam will make you sweat, but it's very authentic to Thailand and takes me back.

Lyara is without a doubt the best, most authentic Thai restaurant in the area. Well, one of two, the other being Rom Mai Thai in Seattle. My husband and I have eaten here for 20 years, through changes in management and the food has consistently been excellent. We eat a lot of Thai food and have visited Thailand as well as eaten in many, many Thai restaurants and have not had a bad meal yet at Lyara. Yes, there was a spell when one waitress seemed to be a sad sack and couldn't be bothered but the food never suffered. The presentation is lovely, food always fresh and we have tried just about everything on the menu. The decor of the restaurant itself is just like being in Thailand. I believe the staff and cook are Thai. The current wait staff is very friendly, helpful and attentive. Also, we feel the prices are very reasonable. Honestly, I am getting hungry just thinking about this place. Please try it if you love Thai food, you will not be disappointed.

Best Thai restaurant in Redmond hands down! The girls that work here are great and extremely friendly. They also aren't bad to look at but that's just the cherry to a sundae of Thai food awesomeness!! ( does that even make sense?!?) Honestly one of the only places I've found with good Phad Thai and that means a lot seeing as how Phad Thai is one of my least favorite Thai dishes. Phad kee Mao here is very authentic and the Panang curry is a must try. The spice level is pretty on point if you want to sweat a little then you can get away with a 3 star instead of ordering 5 and praying you'll taste the heat like most Americanized Thai restaurants. Grab a Thai iced tea and some noodles here and thank me later!

The hubby and I ordered takeout recently and will not be coming back. Both dishes were not to our liking - 1) Red curry with fresh tofu (2 stars) was watery and bland. Spice was about right, but no richness in the curry sauce to be found. Portion size could be improved also. 2) Lek haeng with chicken (2 stars) consisted of clumpy rice noodles, overcooked, bonedry chicken, spinach, and a sprinkling of peanuts and fried onions. The texture was rubbery, the taste was bland, and my noodle craving was not satisfied. I would like to give this a better rating, but there are so many better thai restaurants to go to, even in the eastside.

We love the Tom ka gai and Tom Yung goong. Also try their donut dessert with what seems like hot ice cream. Staff very friendly.

Thai restaurants are, in all honesty, a dime a dozen. We have a handful to choose from in between cities. Anyways, just sat down to their Pad-See-Ew with Beef. Friendly staff, despite being quiet. Food was decent, but I've definitely had better. Ew was 2**'s and had very little flavor (aside from spice). Noodles were the type that were seemingly too thick, and just "mush" in your mouth - not a fan. Quantity was large though. Too much for lunch.

Food: Mixed Reviews... The cashew chicken was great but the chicken pad thai was awful. Way too much sauce used and that's all you can taste. So rich I could only eat a couple bites. Also annoying that you have to order a side of rice (it doesn't come with your meal) and it's one tiny scoop. Service: AWFUL. The girl didn't speak 2 words to us the entire time. She pointed to the table when we walked in, filled our waters and took our orders all without talking. Atmosphere: It's okay, it's just that with the cold service it makes sitting in there a little uncomfortable waiting for your food. Very quiet. Saturday night and only 2 other people in the place. Overall: It was alright but we probably won't be back. There are plenty of Thai restaurants to try in the area and there are a few we've already been to that rank way higher in all categories.

The usual run of the mill Thai place for me. I tried a chicken something curry, and it was alright. I liked the fact that it wasn't too greasy. Tip - their spice rating goes from 1 to 4. I tried the 2, and found it was a little bland - this coming from a moderate to low spice eater.

We eat here a lot and it is consistently delicious. They always remember who my husband is when he calls in his take out order. I love it when it is my husband's turn to cook because he always "cooks" Iyara Thai! My go-to dish is the chicken green curry with steamed jasmine rice. My husband shares his food with our baby boy, so he always gets a non-spicy pork fried rice. I always order thai iced tea, sakuu sai muu, and banana spring rolls. I've been to many Thai food restaurants and this one is by far the most authentic you could get. They are very considerate and package everything in a bike-friendly way (my husband picks up the food with the little green basket mounted on his bicycle).

Years ago, this place accepted the Microsoft prime card, and it was a two for one entree deal. So we tried it out... Over and over again. They stopped the promotion but had won our patronage for life. I've eaten here so many times and recommended this place so many times that I not only have favorite dishes, I do not even have to order any more. They know what I want by the time I've walked to the counter to pay or sat down to order.

One of my favorite Thai places! I liked the food before their remodel, but now the decor is really nice, too. Lunch combinations are a good value, and I really like their pad thai and curries. I haven't had a problem with their beef and chicken being overcooked like I've seen happen often at some of the other Thai restaurants in the area. Don't let the strip mall location fool you -- it's worth visiting! Edit: I've done take out quite a bit since. The pad kee mao has been a great hit, as have the yellow and green curries. The last time I got pad thai, it wasn't nearly as good as when I had it in the restaurant. As far as appetizers go, I've tried and enjoyed the chicken satay, fresh rolls (they fall apart easily though), and corn cakes (good flavor, texture isn't that crisp though), but the best part are the sauces that come with those appetizers.

I don't eat anything except their speciality - Iyara Friend Rice. I could eat it every day and then some. The overall service varies, and sometimes they may not be in a good mood. I absolutely love the food!

Not bad. Found this place on yelp and decided to try something new. Tom yum noodle soup. Not my favorite. Was thinking of Tom kha gai which I love! But this is not it. Only complaint is the noodles were over done. Otherwise very good. Fresh rolls and sauce were very good also. Only two beers here, singha and Chang.. Good service. Quick and friendly. If I come back will try one if my usual favs.

Good Thai food is like a woman that you lust after, a woman of statuesque beauty, a woman who you just intuitively *know* is going to be the most exquisite, beautiful, exciting, sensuous roll-in-the-hay of your entire life. For you ladies, it's like when your head turns instinctively - like when you can feel or hear or sense something and you turn and ... Bam! There he is! In short, good Thai food makes you expect to be satisfied, and then satisfies your expectations. Lyara Thai satisfied me - completely. Oh Lord, I was sated when it was over, and as much as I wanted to go back for seconds, I knew I was done - but I was too happy to care. This relatively small Thai restaurant lives in a strip mall in downtown don't-blink-or-you-will-miss-it Redmond. For Microsoftees and other local business types who work way too much, they stay open until nine PM on weekdays. I and a couple of other hacker/geek/spook types arrived here around half past eight one night, tired, annoyed, and hungry. We parked on the street, walked in, were served quickly and courteously, and after we talked for about ten minutes the food was served. Cue Seventies Blacksploitation - Oh, man, that is some *fine* food! I ordered the drunken noodles (AKA pad kee mao) with chicken, and from "plate down" to "plate empty" was - literally - six minutes - if that. The rest of the time after eating was spent talking and lounging - afterglow, if you will. To be fair, not everyone I was with felt as I did - one person ordered their "favorite dish" and it was "not as good" as their "favorite place". Of course, they did not order curry or noodles, so I'm basically saying next time they should order what this place does well (namely curry and noodles). I eat *way* too much Thai food, and this is going to be one of those places that I save for *special* evenings - when the day sucks and I need to feel satisfied and refreshed when I get up from the table to leave. If you're not getting it by now, you must not be mammalian. Go here when you are near Redmond - but only if you are prepared to be satisfied. =;^)

I found this place on Yelp when I was hunting for good Thai restaurants on the Eastside. At the moment, Iyara is probably the best in downtown Redmond. Location: Right next to the Weight Watchers. There is also a back lot if you can't find any street parking. Their food is really good and pretty consistent whenever I go. My favorite dishes are Phad See Ew & Kraw Prow Kai Ka Dao (a rice dish). Their service fluctuates a lot. It can be very speedy or it can take a long time depending on when you arrive and who your party is. I came here with a party of 8 once and had to wait almost an hour and a half for food. However, most times, I've only had to wait 20 minutes for a party of 2.

Iyara is one of the hidden gems in Redmond because it has authentic Thai. They have great Phad Thai and Phad Ke Mao and their prices are very reasonable. Service is prompt and curteous and the interior is bright and colorful! Try the phad thai, it's different from every other place I've had it, but still fantastic!

  • Ivan M.

ordered some take out from here today based on positive yelp reviews. got the phad thai w/chicken (3 out of 4 spiciness stars) and the baby spring rolls. phad thai: wasn't spicy enough for my tastes but they prolly dumbed it down for me since i ain't thai. haha. a lil too sweet for my tastes but thankfully there was no ketchup. i think a squeeze of lime would have corrected that but alas there was none in the box. overall the flavors were nice and smoky, what you'd expect if it was stir fried in a screamin' hot wok (kinda like good beef chow fun, a lil smoky but not burnt). i'm gonna try the phad see iw next time. baby spring rolls: great value at only $5. small, vegetable only, and lightly fried - exactly as described in the menu. i prolly won't order this again unless somebody is splitting it with me. my phad thai was more than i could finish but i wanted to try these too. mmm. not the best thai but it's within walkin' distance and i'm not feelin' noodle land no more.

I've been here a number of times, but my friend & I hadn't been in a while and decided to treat ourselves after a long workout and WOW! have they gotten better! For one thing, they have added a few new "Thailand localities" to the menu that I've only found in one restaurant outside of Thailand. I'm a big fan of Khao Soi Kai, which I didn't try this time but I am surprised to find it on the menu and will definitely order it next time. They also have some WONDERFUL new desserts! My favourite was a kaboucha pumpkin rice balls soaked in cocoanut cream - omg, YUM! They also have a pandan leaf/cocoanut pudding that I stole a bit from my friend and that was just fabulous! I am DEFINITELY going back!

The food here is always fantastic- probably my favorite Thai food in Redmond! I have had takeout a few times, and only eaten here once. I enjoyed the time eating here- the dining room is pretty and purple, I love it. Service was great, with the occasional water-glass-running-on-empty (noooo!). My favorites are the Garlic or Ginger dishes, yum!

Good food and fast service. They don't appear to have an online menu and the staff there wasn't the friendliest

  • Diana M.

This is a new staple for me for great Thai. The atmosphere is actually very calm (the pictures led me to believe otherwise) and the service is always prompt and very polite. The standards are very good, pad se ew and pad thai are delicious with or without spice they have a very nice blend of flavors. Spring rolls and satay are a great place to start. The most surprising thing I've had there was the fried banana and honey spring roll dessert, I wouldn't have said this would be delicious as I'm not a huge fan of hot fruit, but it is absolutely scrumptious.

  • Nick B.

The food is good and I might give a 4 star just for the food but if I were to consider customer friendliness then its a 2 star. Seems like the owner is either a racist or a snob. Never smiles, never welcomes, never attends if we need water or anything. This is the 4th time I have had this experience. THE LADY IS RUDE! I would rather go to freakin Nibana or Chantenee in Bellevue.

After reading all the yelp reviews, I decide to try Iyara instead of our usual Thai restaurant. I am so glad I did! First off let me say that just walking in smelled so amazing! I was placing an order to go ans it was ready super fast. My car smelled so delicious! I ordered the Pad See Ewe and a pad thai for my husband. They were the best we've ever had on the eastside!! The pad Thai was the best I had ever tasted. Not weirdly sweet or ketchupy. It was delicious. The pad see eww was so full of chicken and flavorful noodles. It was heavenly. We will definitely be going here again. It is sure to become our regular Thai place. YUM!

  • Alice L.

I've eaten once in here and have ordered takeout during lunch time. I've only had the pad kee mao, and can I just exclaim how great it tastes!! Its better than any phad kee mao Ive ever had, and it has amazing spice and chili flavor! The only thing that isn't awesome is the price...Its like $9 with tofu or chicken and $10 for beef. The beef comes out tender and flavorful though. My friend had a phad thai from here and it was okay, It lacked depth in flavor, and its main taste was just a load of sweetness. I've definitely have had better phad thai elsewhere. But for phad kee mao, this place has it right on the spot!! The portion is also really good!! Come visit this place if you're on the east side, the pad kee mao is worth trying!

Great place and highly recommend the Heavenly Beef and Pineapple curry Fried Rice. Wait staff is very attentive and nice ambience in small restaurant. promotion of save 5% if pay with cash. This is probably my fave Thai place in Redmond! Highly recommend it and u can't go wrong with my recommendation of items to order. The sliced beef salad on leaves is good as well. You should visit this place if u are in the neck of the woods.

Yummy! I have been looking for a Thai place close to home that isn't Thai Ginger. It's not that I don't like Thai Ginger, it's just that sometimes I like to mix it up. And this place was yummy! And the service was very friendly. My standard favorite is the green curry with chicken, and that was very good here. My ONLY complaint is that they make theirs without eggplant. I missed the mushy yumminess of the eggplant. I also tried and enjoyed the waterfall noodles with beef (I think that's what it was called). I will definitely be back here to try some of the other dishes.

    (4)
  • Amy L.

My favorite eastside Thai restaurant. I like that it isn't oily or overly sweet. The eggplant in the green curry is actually Thai eggplant and it isn't cooked too mush. We order from here every other week or so for work and they always get our orders right and have it ready on time. My new favorite is the cashew and water chestnut chicken. I would have never ordered that assuming it would just taste like chinese food but it definitely didn't. I got it 4 stars spicy and it was full of roasted chili flavor. The cashews were nicely roasted and not the boiled texture you sometimes get in dishes with cashews in them. Overall just really consistent and tasty.

Mmm... Thai food is one of my favorites and this place has some of the best Thai food around. It had been a long day, I'd been looking for a new place to live and I was thoroughly exhausted. I was starving and not in the mood to cook so I headed into Redmond trying to decide what I would toss down the old gullet. I was driving on Cleveland when I realized that Iyara was just a block down and I knew the Thai food would hit the spot. I've been here quite a few times, through different owners and all and it's always been good. Tonight was no exception, the food was delicious and the service was superb! I was courteously seated as soon as I walked in and my drink was always refilled promptly. I had my usual, Cashew Chicken, which consists of chicken (duh), cashew nuts (double duh), green and red bell peppers, onions, celery and carrots covered in a roasted chili paste. Mm mm good! I also had a very nice appetizer, called "shrimp in a blanket", it's seasoned shrimp in a rice paper crepe that is deep fried and served with a plum sauce. The food was prepared beautifully, fast and it was very filling. The portions are large enough that I had leftovers for lunch today! So if you are hungry, craving some tasty Thai food definitely check this place out, you won't regret it.

Food came quickly, but they were understaffed and it took forever to get our bill and out the door. Food was fine, really liked the fried rice and want to try the fried banana dessert. Panang Curry was pretty good. Probably will only order take out in the future.

I came here for lunch because I felt I deserved a treat from studying for hours and hours at the nearby Redmond library. What a delight! I got the pad kee mao (3 stars) and it was pretty much the definition of perfect. Nice flavor from the wok, crispy veggies, perfectly seasoned noodles...mmm. The service was impeccable and incredibly (I mean incredibly) fast! I declare myself a new regular!

In my opinion, the best Thai place in Redmond, WA. Everything tastes good at Iyara. You won't find any Ketchup Phad Thai here. I ate at Iyara once a week for the past 3 years or so until I recently moved. I think they deserve a very good review. The food is exceptionally good, but they get 4 stars because the food is occasionally uneven - Once in awhile the noodles will change a little bit, the flavor will change a bit, or different veggies will be used in a recipe. The spiciness level can be uneven as well. I've been eating there for years, so I notice these kinds of things. Room for improvement, but still very good. So, they get 4 stars. That said, Iyara Thai Cuisine is a cut above the rest. They are a bit more expensive, but I think it is worth it for the superior food quality. I will miss you Iyara Thai Cuisine. Maybe I will come back and visit some time for your wonderful fried rice!

We got takeout from this place and would not go back again. We found a hair in our curry. We called the restaurant and the lady said she would give us credit for the entree for use next time but would I really go back again? No. The food tasted average. Nothing special and the portions of the actual entree were REALLY small compared to the amount of rice they gave. I have had better.

Craving Thai food always means coming to Iyara. The Pad Thai is very flavorful, even without the meat. The Thai tea is very refreshing and not to sweet. I also loved their green curry, and my husband always orders the garlic pork with basil. We tried most of the appetizers and their fried rice and they were all yummy as well. Very clean and cozy.

  • Jody N.

I got takeout from Iyara the other day in a desperate desire for anything thai (what can I say, a girl can have cravings ha). The food was prepared super fast with a very friendly service. The decor of the place was intereting with tapastries, purples and pinks in an open window store front on a busy street. Although they mixed up my rice (white instead of brown), the food satisfied my cravings, and was delicious to boot. Not my favorite thai food in Redmond (sorry Iyara think I'm sticking with Typhoon), but with fast, friendly service and yummy curry it's not a bad place to grab takeout from.
