Talk about beer selection & great food! Not to mention - at an excellent price point. Our waitress Cheryl was very helpful and attentive. For a smaller town this place rocks. Would come again if ever in the area. Cheers!

We ate lunch at the Smokehouse Pub on a Friday afternoon. I would give the pub 3 stars and the store 5 stars, so I averaged the two in this review. The pub is fairly large and takes up the back portion of the store. We were a little confused when we walked in, as it wasn't clear if we were supposed to seat ourselves or if we would be seated. We finally just sat at an empty table, and then was asked to move because the table was apparently taken. Once we were seated, a waitress stopped by to take our drink order. The drink menu is on television screens hanging throughout the restaurant, which was a little odd. One thing that is pretty annoying is that there is a capage fee of $1.50 for any of their beers you order, even if you just order off the menu, so you are basically paying a premium just to drink there. I went with the Tieton Cherry Cider and really enjoyed it. For our meal, my husband and I split the combo platter which comes with pulled pork, pulled chicken, sliced brisket, a roll, and two sides (we ordered the pepperjack mac and cheese and the hush puppies). The food came out relatively quickly and the portion was more than enough for two people. All three of the meats had great flavor, but the chicken was my favorite. I wasn't a huge fan of the BBQ sauce (this is likely a personal preference, as I don't like vinegar-based BBQ sauces) but I really enjoyed the mustard sauce they served alongside the BBQ sauce. The hush puppies were not very good. They didn't have much flavor and were dry. The mac and cheese was fantastic, though! It was easily my favorite part of the meal, and everyone at our table agreed it was awesome. After eating we wandered into the store. They have an awesome selection of beers, possibly the best I have seen. The set up isn't fancy (it was actually rather cluttered), but it was organized by type of beer so it was easy enough to find what you wanted. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat at the pub again (although it is a great option if you are in the area), but the store is definitely worth a drive if you are a beer fan.

Hop-N-Grape is a liquor store with a restaurant/bar and it's a restaurant/bar with a liquor store. I'm not quite sure which side does more business, but the 14 Beers on tap and 11 Wines available in the bar were enough to make getting dinner worthwhile. There are three sizes of beers available: 10oz, 16oz, and Growler. Prices vary depending on the brew on tap. I was in the mood for tasting a variety of the 14 on my journey through a Saturday night grammar lesson on drink-drank-drunk. * Mazama White Wedding - White IPA (5.2% ABV; 55 IBU) The Justin Bieber of beer ... White 'n light with hops to stop * Mazama Belgian Blonde (7.7%ABV; 20 IBU) The Jason Statham of beer ... Smooth 'n sweet like a treat * Elysian Bifrost - Winter Pale Ale (7.6% ABV; 58 IBU) The Kit Harington of beer ... Festive like snow when winter is coming * Boneyard Armored Fist - Cascadian Dark Ale (10% ABV; 80 IBU) The Marshawn Lynch of beer ... Black & strong going Beast Mode * Widmer Heritage Flanders Red Ale (3.7% ABV) The Gianni Versace of beer ... Fruity with Italian Plums & Blackberries * Mazama Grand Cru - Strong Golden Pale Ale (10% ABV; 26 IBU) The Javier Bardem of beer ... OMG like drinking a beautiful flower * Heathen Reindeer Tears - Barley Wine (10.8% ABV; 94 IBU) The Santa Claus of barley wine ... Bringing joy to your Christmas I was a fan of the beers. Sadly, the service at the bar was one slow disappearing act and the food ranged from totally meh to mostly meh. * Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich ($9.50) Safe mix of chopped Meat and Hoagie Bread ... boring * BBQ Combo Platter ($16) Dry chicken, average pork, & chunky beef. Neither BBQ sauce matched any of them * Marionberry Cobbler ($4) Remarkably dull jammed into a small bowl ... Meh-rionBerry This is Longview, so, there may not be many similar spots to Hop 'n Grape. If the food was tasty and service consistent, I'd be a fan, but the small, yet diverse selection of beers on draft will be enough to bring me back when it's Saturday night and I'm ready to learn the proper usage of the verb drank.

Slow, SLOW service and actually disappointed with the beer choices (I'm not a big Ale fan) and runny Mac n' Cheese. BBQ was decent though I ordered the combo with 3 meats, and I only wanted the Brisket and Chicken (which I got) and they charged me for 3 meats. Not sure why that happened? I thought at one time that they were the best BBQ in SW Washington, especially the sauces but I've changed my mind. I'll go back but it all depends on what they have on tap.

Went in for lunch. The first thing I noticed was how dark it was...why isn't there more lighting in here? I wanted to try the salmon chowder, since it seems to be an outstanding item here based on Yelp reviews. The waitress explained that it would be fine to substitute a cup of the soup for the side that usually comes with the pulled-pork sandwich for $1 extra. This seemed like the right decision. The chowder came first. It was decently good. About the same quality as the seafood chowder at the OHSU cafeteria. OHSU has good food, so this is in no way a putdown. However, OHSU's chowder is less expensive. The pulled-pork sandwich was okay. Nothing special. I enjoyed having two homemade BBQ sauces to put on it. The very small cup of slaw that came with it was fresh and delicious. I only wish there had been more of in. Service was fine. A bit slow. All-in-all, the food was pretty good, but this was a pricey lunch. I can't see myself going back, not because it was bad, just because it wasn't good enough to not explore other options first.
(3)Jerry A.
You can't go wrong here. Great salads, barbecue, and great Mac n cheese. Over 21 only but not a bar feel.
(5)Heather B.
I have always had prompt service here. Good food. Nice selections.
(4)Magda S.
Very fresh and great food. The Mac and cheese was the best. Salads are amazing. Home made deliciousness. Service is great too. They will bend over backwards to give you what you want.
(5)Emily J.
My honey and popped in here for lunch while driving from Portland to Seattle, as it is located conveniently between the two. We're childfree and Hop-N-Grape is too. I think their reason has something to do with the state liquor law. Whatever the reason, it works for us! My pulled pork sandwich was delicious. As soon as I saw that hushpuppies were a option for a side, I went with those. Hushpuppies are hard to come by on the W(B)est Coast!
(4)Tara K.
I'm in love, stopped in with a friend for a late lunch. Excellent service nice atmosphere and wonderful food. We each got different sides to split ( fries and mac and cheese) and I got a buffalo pork sandwich. All was fantastic, there was not a morsel left between us.
(5)George R.
Great place, very helpful, a must go to for help in the home brew industry.
(5)Sarah A.
I was so shocked to see such a neat place in Longview. The food was absolutely wonderful and their wine was phenomenal. It's the perfect date night with your special someone!
(5)Ray T.
If your a beer coinsure best place to be and the food is EXCELLENT
(5)Chris O.
Delightful!!!!! The Mac and cheese is to die for!! I love their selection of great beers and wines and always try to leave with a bottle or two to enjoy later ...
(5)Josh C.
Great beer selection, the staff is very knowledgeable, the restaurant has great food, and they will make it to go.
(5)Josh M.
We love this place, I have tried almost everything on the menu with no disappointments, the service is incredible every time. Great staff working there from the kitchen to the front. Highly recomended
(5)Jody F.
My friend and I went there for lunch last winter....It was so cold in there, I asked the server if she could turn some heat on....She informed us the owner would not allow it....She was all bundled up in a heavy sweater.....I felt sorry for her to have to work there.....The food was very poor.....Nothing to write home about.....So absolutely no more of my money will be spent there!!......One other thing.....The squirt bottles of sauce that sits on the tables was so sticky, I had to ask for a bar cloth to clean them off.....Made me sick at my stomach to even wipe those filthy things off!!.....Very poor place to go.....We won't be back!!....
(1)Benjamin B.
This place smells like I expect heaven to. Not that I'm likely to ever be able to verify that. Hands down one of the most amazing beer selections in Washington state. New, weird, classic. They have it all with brewing supplies and a BBQ joint that is on par with the best I've seen.
(5)Brandon E.
One of my favorite lunch spots and somewhere I recommend all the time to my guests. (I work at a hotel and people always want food recommendations,(
(4)Alyssa L.
Amazing bbq food! Ribs were fall off the bone, the fries were amazing, pulled pork was delicious! The food is so good here, it's just amazing in every way! I would recommend anyone who loves bbq to go here! The service however, not amazing for me personally. There were maybe five tables and we waited forever for our food, watching many others, who arrived after us, get their food before us. I was not happy with our waitress to say the least.
(4)Miss D.
It was ok as barbecue goes. I love barbecue and am from the Midwest Kansas City one of the barbecue capitals of the world lol.. So I am sort of partial to St. Louis style ribs and a sweeter sauce. Yet their sauce was tasty it just wasn't smooth it was kind if chunky. But the meat was very tender the potato salad was good but it wasn't cold it was warm. I didn't care for the macaroni and chews it was a white cheese and the noodles were cavatappi noodle and were mushy and not al dente (firm to the bite). I didn't care for their beans either. It's a bar on inside and a wine store on the other it's pretty cool.
(3)Dee R.
Was on vacation down the road & got a serious craving for some BBQ. Being in the Castle Rock area, I wasn't expecting much at all. Not wanting to cook won out in this debate. Had my daughter look up reviews & this place had the best. Ok, we'll give it a shot. We had my 5yo grandson with us & she hadn't noticed it was a brewery. After some debate we decided to get an order to go. The food was flat out delicious! The Cajun shrimp was full of flavor & soaking the bread in the pot licker was all wonderful. I had the pork BBQ sandwich & absolutely loved it. Well worth the drive & the price. I can't imagine it getting any better in a 40 mile radius.
(4)Jenna M.
Just visited hop n grape and decided to leave, because I have gone in before and was able to order any beer that they carry. And before I even had a chance to order I asked for a beer that I know they carry and the lady informed me that I cannot get that but the list is on the board so I left.I never had a problem ordering a beer that they carried before so I guess this makes it a bad review since I was planning on eating lunch there and now I had to leave because I couldn't get served what they carried
(1)Ann S.
Great services and a large selection of wines. They also stock up many micro brew beers. a Very nice eatery!
(4)Sara M.
I'm so excited to see that Longview has a place like this! We're always driving around aimlessly looking for a place that isn't a gross dive bar, Chinese food, or fast food. Hop-N-Grape is partial brew supply and restaurant with plenty of beer and wine on tap. Dick's Raspberry Tripel....holy mother it's delicious! They have beer in 10 and 16 oz glasses, which is great because I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to drinking an entire pint of beer. Now, for the food - we were pleasantly surprised! The peppercorn mac n cheese was absolutely delicious, so I recommend you get that for a side. My mother in-law didn't care much for the coleslaw, and I don't care for coleslaw so I didn't taste it. I got a pulled pork sandwich and it came with two containers of some sort of tangy BBQ sauce. I am honestly not sure what's going on with the sauce but I didn't care for it. I ended up putting some BBQ sauce that we had in the fridge on my sandwich. Otherwise, the service was fine, nothing out of this world. Food and drinks came quick and they have plenty of people on staff, it looks like. We paid around $50 for two beers and three meals. This will absolutely be our go-to place for food in Longview! :)
(4)Renee M.
We were super happy with our experience at Hop-N-Grape. This is just the type of place I was looking to discover during my tips back home to Longview. The dining area is nice, clean and comfortable, the service was good, the food was tasty, and the draught beer options were great. We ordered the fried mac and cheese, the salmon chowder (so yummy!) and the brisket sandwich with fries (loved the fries!). After lunch, we headed over to the cooler to pick out some beer to take home. The options were endless and did not disappoint. We will be back during our next trip to Longview, for sure. I'm not giving this place 5 stars because I don't know that it's the type of beer place I would want to go and just hang out and have beer, but it's definitely good sharing a meal or picking up a 6 pack.
(4)Dichosa M.
Soggy fries. BBQ ok. Bun was soggy by the time it was served. Interesting place with the beers, though.
(2)Amy E.
This place is really cool. All the hops and barley you need for a home brew, and great barbecue! I had my birthday lunch there and it was delicious! I had the pulled pork sandwich, and my dad had the sampler. We also tried a pineapple cider, which tasted like soda! The BBQ was perfect and their sauces are a great addition. I also LOVED the salmon chowder and the cole slaw. Being from San Diego, I appreciated that they stocked beer from home, like Stone, Green Flash, and Julian Hard Cider. If you're hungry, stop by! And then bring home some brew! Thanks for making my trip to Washington great!
(4)Jill G.
Food was fantastic. The meat had just the right amount of smokey flavor. It was tender and flavorful. They had a great list of beers on tap which made the hubby happy! Can't wait to go again!!
(5)Frack U.
Good food. Good service. No kids allowed. Dig the wooden ceiling and bar accents. Owner is personable and doing a bang up job. Stopped by recently to check out the scene and let him know that I'm opening another Frack Burger down the street. We tried the brisket, ribs, BBQ chicken and most of the sides. The Brisket, ribs, coleslaw, and PepperJack Mac and Cheese were our favs.
(5)C. Brandon C.
Great brisket!!! The jalapeno mac-n-cheese is fantastic. Good atmosphere. Food is great.
(4)Jennie A.
Food was excellent. Husband is hard to please when it comes to BBQ and Mac and cheese, both delivered. Brisket Philly was perfect. Will return for sure. Only gripe, styrofoam to go boxes... Please rethink packaging choices.
(5)Callie C.
Ate here once while we were in town. I had a salad which was decent. My companions enjoyed their BBQ. Stole some bites of mac n cheese (amazing). Wide variety of beers on tap. The real fun is to be had on the retail side of the store with all the mix-n-match six packs you can create.
(4)Henry G.
This is a gem in an otherwise bland range of restaurants in this town. They have great BBQ, but the best are the sides! Pepper Jack Mac and Cheese and the Red potato salad are great. For a main dish, my favorite are the sandwiches, like the Philly. The ambiance is good and while some complain about not being able to bring the kids, I like it. When my wife and I go out we like to come to a place where there are not children. Applebees is just down the road folks... About the beer....I like beer...I drink good beer. The beer selection is vast and confusing. The beer selection is for a very refined beer palette and finding just a run of the mill IPA, Porter, or something can be a bit of a challenge. About the wine...I hate wine...I really hate wine...so don't ask. - Henry G
(4)Alice D.
A good spot, especially when considering the cultural void it is surrounded by. They have rotating taps of local and interesting beers, a shop that sells microbrews and brewing equipment, and respectable food with decent service. My man had a Ruben that was good and I had a Cobb salad that actually had fresh meat and crisp veggies. If you find yourself hungry or beerless and passing through Longview, give this place a try.
(3)Chad C.
I've been here twice. The food is good, borderline great even, but not spectacular and while I definitely have had better, it's not been in this town. The environment leaves a lot to be desired, and I think this weighs in a lot to my rating and opinion of this place. Entering through a beer/wine store (they may also have liquor, but I didn't check), the restaurant is in the back. I'm not sure what this location was previously, but between linoleum and stacking chairs, the room feels less like a restaurant and more like a poorly lit office breakroom.
(3)Jeff S.
Good food, good drink choice, good service, pleasant atmosphere! The barbecue plate was delicious, try the pepper jack n cheese:)
(4)Beth M.
We love Hop n' Grape but my one complaint is they do not allow children. I can see how this would be a plus for many people (ourselves included at times!) but when we are on the way home from somewhere & hungry & have wanted to stop in & have a quick meal, we have had to pass on Hop n' Grape because we have the baby with us. I'm disappointed to have to give business to another restaurant because of this issue. Perhaps allow children during certain hours, like Porky's & The Office do? Say, until 7 pm?
(4)Bre R.
Good beer and wine choices, especially for Longview. Food is pretty great also, but service is horrible. Every time I go, they are pushy and seem like they are just trying to get you out, even when it's slow. Went here for a paint n sip class. I over heard one of the other customers talk about the next painting that was going to be taught and how she was excited for it. I liked it too, just a more subtle painting that I think can go in anyone's house. One of the waitresses said 'oh that's ugly, this isn't for your mothers house.' Then she noticed the teacher of the class was on the other side and tried to cover by saying that's what one of the other workers said. I felt bad for the teacher. She is so sweet and just ignored the comment. I will go back for the classes but not much else. That is until the servers learn customer service and respect.
(3)T R.
OK Food. Average Service.
(3)Christie T.
What a hidden treasure! Great food, large selection of microbrews and wine all hidden behind an unassuming exterior! Service was awesome...nice find in Longview, WA.
(5)Themighty T.
Great selection of on tap beers and bottled beer. The macaroni and cheese is truly as good as they say. I'm not a big fan of smoked flavored foods, but my wife is and says it's very good here. The only reason I'm giving this place a 3 star rating is because they charge you $1.50 extra if you walk over to the cooler and grab one of the hundreds of hard to find bottled beers they have to offer and enjoy it with your meal. I guess they do it because they can. Not a good enough reason for me, though. I mean, seriously, it's the same business! For this reason alone I will not be dining here again, but I will walk in and buy the beer out of the cooler, without the surcharge.
(3)Wanderin' J.
This was definitely a very interesting experience. We must have driven by this place many times and never knew it was a restaurant, let alone a BBQ place. The front of the Pub serves as a wine and beer making supply store. The back is the restaurant with TVs around the wall. We loved the BBQ. The brisket and pork were especially delicious and tender. The beans -- not so much. However, we would definitely return. It's a fantastic BBQ restaurant in the middle of Longview.
(4)Kacy C.
Great beer and wine selection. Food is very good. When people say the mac and cheese is great...it is. Not normally what I would have ordered, but I do now. I recommend the Philly. Sometimes the meat can be dry. They need more options for bbq sauce.
(4)Russ P.
They have added a new appetizer called Fried Mac and Cheese. It is awesome. They somehow figured out how to fry their amazing pepper jack mac n cheese into delicious triangles of crispy goodness. Might want to ask for extra marinara cause it's equally as tasty.
(4)Gretchen W.
The best sandwich and Mac n Cheese I have ever tasted! The waitress and staff was excellent. I even spilled my pop on my plate, and she brought me a new meal. Absolutely amazing service and food! Highly recommend!
(5)Kim M.
Prime rib is excellent. Mac n cheese was really good. Salmon was ok. Service was HORRIBLE! Dont let your customers hear you complaining about lack of staff. Holiday/Valentine's Weekend--you should know better. Suggestions: 1. Your electronic menu with miniature print does customers NO good if they can't read it. 2. Offering a printed list WITH beer and wine DESCRIPTIONS is a must. 3. Train your staff -Especially when asked what the beers on tap are, the server says, "We have 16, I could rattle them off to you but it wouldn't mean anything to you. What do you like and I will suggest something!" Um, SAY WHAT! 4. Check on your tables. Glasses sat empty and we had to go to the bar to get a replacement glass of wine...the one ordered was not expected and the guest didnt like it. 5. Bringing the salad and entree at the same time is ridiculous. "Sorry, the kitchen was faster than I thought!" Really, cuz we just sat here for thirty minutes with empty glasses.
(3)Elyssa B.
Great food! Loved the smoked turkey with cranberry horseradish and you can't go wrong with any BBQ either. Excellent fresh fries and coke slaw! Amazing BBQ sauces - our favorite was the mustard one. Definitely will go back!
(5)Ryan D.
Wow, the sides, the main courses and selection rules! I really like this place a lot. Totally tasty. Recommended for sure!! Hope this place stays around for a very long time in Longview.
(5)Erin C.
Yum. Shared a chopped brisket plate with pepper jack Mac & Cheese and fries. Mac & Cheese was amazing, fries were typical hand cut. Brisket was tasty! Also had wings which were solid. It was a little confusing being from out of town because it's in a store but it was neat! Tasty spiced cider, too.
(4)Twylla C.
Meh--Seriously underwhelming. The food was about what I expected---bar food, done up in too much grease. Upside, the place smells GREAT! Service is lacking, as others have said. Have been totally ignored in the beer/wine store. Family members have had the same experience. The owners are opening another, larger restaurant in downtown--I can only hope they get some help with training their staff. The way several folks I know have been treated by the owner (pure apathy), I expect that they don't know or care what great, or even good, service is. Oh, well. It's Longview.
(2)Lea F.
First time here for my brothers birthday dinner. Awesome wine and beer choices. Everyone was extremely happy with the food and drinks. Great fresh taste. I will definitely be coming back. The food has good prices and there were plenty of choices.
(5)Lynette B.
This place is amazing! !! Fantastic bbq food and delicious sides! As soon as you walk in, the smell lets you know that you're in for a treat! I love they give you the option to add however much bbq sauce to your meal that is on the middle of your table! The beer and wine selection is endless! The atmosphere is very welcoming and waitstaff is always smiling/ helpful and on their game! Awesomeness all over! Cheers!
(5)Amy W.
Great selection of beer! Wish kids were allowed. Always smells so yummy when I ride my bike past it to yoga class. Makes me want to skip class and go to lunch!
(4)Brock L.
I really do like the food here. I think the brisket is good as well as the pepper jack mack and cheese. Their rotational beer list is great. They have a lot of brews and wine you can't find anywhere else in town.
(4)Janet W.
In Longview at lunchtime and turned to Yelp for advice. Driving up, we almost didn't go in. You see the wine/beer store and not much else. I can't say that the outside is very appealing, but we were in the mood for some BBQ, so decided to give it a go. The pulled pork sandwich was very good. I loved the generous side of cole slaw. Even thought they were pretty busy, the service was good. Too early in the day for a beer, but it's the kind of place that I would go back to for a drink and appetizers if I lived closer.
(4)Erin M.
Pretty good food, great beer...but if you sit at the bar you'll hear about all the staff drama and it will take days to get your check.
(3)Matt E.
Great bbq, prices are very reasonable. Excellent beer selection. I no longer live in Longview, but try to make it by every time I visit. Great place!
(4)Janet F.
Third time's the charm! My first visit was shortly after they opened and the service was incredibly slow. My meal was all right, nothing special, but my three companions all disliked their barely warm meals - all three won't give it another chance. My second visit was better - the salmon chowder was good but I don't get the raves about the mac and cheese. Today's visit was top rated. The salmon cobb salad was the best salad I've ever had - loads of deliciously prepared salmon with huge slices of avocado. Service was fast, drinks were refilled, the server checked on us. I want to go back tomorrow.
(5)Andrew R.
Great food! Great environment! Always new beers to try! I would definitely rank this as one of the best restaurants in the area! The sampler platter is my favorite thing to eat there. Everything great on one plate! Plus leftovers for sandwiches the next day.
(5)Kris C.
Best kept secret in Longview. I often travel to longview for work. I didn't know there was a restaurant there until a friend suggested it. Food is excellent. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the service the first time I went in. I ordered to go and was told 15 min. It took 30min.
(4)Veruca S.
Mmm...yummy pulled pork! The sandwich was lean and flavorful. The fries were fresh and not greasy. This is my first time, so I have yet to order more from the menu...however, I will be back to taste more!
(4)Nikki V.
Food is great, I love the wine selection they have in the "store" area, my favorite place to buy wine in town for sure. The staff, let me make this clear, in THAT part of the store is very helpful. However, the service in the restaurant area-HORRIBLE! Every. Single. Time. It has gotten to the point that nearly everyone I know has such horrible stories about the service that when a group gets together to figure out where to eat and someone suggests Hop-N-Grape there is always someone who brings up the horrible service. To the owner-please, please, PLEASE get your staff some training, they aren't just un-attentive, they are plain bad and are driving business away from what is otherwise a wonderful addition to the Longview restaurant selection.
(2)M D.
I went to Hop n Grape for the first time about a month ago. I was impressed. Food was delicious. Service was good and the place was clean. I do recommend giving them a try. Very good food, portions and prices.
(5)Tracy H.
Went with a small group of friends on a Monday night. Since we were busy chatting, I didn't notice any slowness in the service if there was any. When asked, the waitperson gave an honest reply to my question about the 'beans' side dish (they're okay). She didn't talk them down at all, just answered my question honestly. Since I'm apparently the only person on the face of the earth who doesn't like mac n cheese, I chose the hush puppies as my side. They weren't stellar. Fairly flavorless. The rest of my party ordered the other sides and there was great munching and appreciative moaning. I had the Brisket Sandwich. Yum. No, really: YUM. Great ratio of meat to bread - and the bread wasn't so heavy/dense that it filled me up or detracted from the lovely, lovely meat. You're allowed to sauce up your meal to your liking with the two different sauces on the table. At least one of them is the owner's special secret recipe. I didn't realize that it was a kid-free zone. This is a HUGE plus in my book. Others have commented about the lack of decent restaurant food in Longview (really pretty much the whole of Cowlitz county). They're being kind. This is a terrible, terrible place to live or visit if you have any standards for good eating or good service. The Smokehouse Pub is pure gold in this land of tin. I wish the owner(s) many, many successful years.
(5)Cindy P.
Went here for lunch one day and had the salmon chowder. I thought it was pretty good so I went back again but I was sorely disappointed this time. I ordered the pulled pork with the salmon chowder. My lunch date ordered the pulled chicken with a green salad. Our soup and salad came after our sandwiches which was weird and disappointing. The pulled meat sandwiches were nothing more than meat on a store bought bun. No sauce, nothing special at all. Yes, they were smoked. That was about the extent of it. Absolutely nothing special about our meal at all. The bottom of our buns were soggy and wet and inedible. Yes, the place smells like smoked meat and so much that it will permeate your hair and clothes. Fine if you are out for drinks but for lunch time- I don't want to smell like a campfire the rest of the day. I had to go home and shower and change. This was a $30 lunch, and the food was awful. Suggestion- use better bread, preferably homemade, don't serve it wet. And give that meat some sauce when you serve it! Bring the salad and soup out first.
(1)Kyle R.
What a great restaurant! Food is amazing, most people love their Mac and Cheese. The vast beer selection is ever changing, and it is exciting to get to see what they have on tap every time you visit. Service for the most part is fairly good.

So this place is hard to find. I was a starving pregnant bitch on our way home from Portland. We couldn't find anywhere to get some decent food because we drove a bit out of the way to go see Mt. St. Helens. So I used yelp to find this one. We got there like 45 minutes before it closed. They were nice enough to let us in anyway. First, the place smelled amazing. Like fresh BBQ. Our food was fantastic. I got a bbq sammich that came with pepperjack mac n cheese that was EPIC. If i could find it, I would go back.

Hop-N-Grape and the Smokehouse Pub are perhaps Longviews Finest. The service is fantastic throughout the place. The food divine. My daughter and I went in for lunch. I had been wanting to try it for a while, but my spouse said it was to expensive for a casual meal. Boy was he wrong! My over the top good Greek salad was a whopping $7.50. My daughter had an insanely good smoked salmon sandwich and a side of the pepperjack mac and cheese. I think her meal was $8. I guarantee you that mac and cheese is going to be comfort food take out many times to come. On Friday her and I are going back for a wine tasting. Oh, and yes they do have wifi. We played on the internet while waiting for our food, well until my tablets battery died anyway ;( Check it out, you'll be glad you did!!!!

My wife and I stopped in for dinner on a busy Friday evening about 6:00PM. Nice place! We were seated quickly. Menus were already on the table and our drink orders were taken quickly. I chose the Cuban Sandwich with Mac and Cheese. My wife picked the Prime Rib Dip with fries. Everything tasted excellent. The Mac and Cheese was exceptional. Great hand cut fries. It seemed as if the food arrived at our table almost immediately. The waitress was attentive but not overbearing. We will definitely return. Many times when trying a new place it's not as good as expected. This was not the case here! EVERYTHING was better than expected. The men's room was spotless! We're very happy we found this place.

Awesome food and an overwhelming variety of wine and beer. You can't go wrong with the prime rib dip sandwich. Definitely some of the best food in Longview!
(5)Mandy J.
Perfectly yummy, feels like anywhere but Longview, which is great. A true smoke house. Cool decor and you can shop for beer and wine before your food arrives! French fries are bangin!! Real food, don't miss it. Not kid friendly, no minors. YAY!!

So, we were traveling south and noted that a number of reviewers suggested this was the ONLY place to eat between Chehalis and Portland. The constant positive talk about Mac and cheese left us skeptical but truly this was amazing Mac and cheese. (Not Kraft) the Philly brisket sandwich was a five star sandwich. Order the Mac for your side not the fries. The salmon chowder was delicious as well. Bathrooms were super clean. This was definitely worth the five minute drive off the freeway. Don't go to Denny's!

Two visits here and I still can't feel comfortable giving this place an excellent review. Both visits were while heading south to Ridgefield for a concert at the Sleep Country Amphitheater. Our first visit we stopped for dinner after suggestions from several friends. The boyfriend and I shared the BBQ Sample Platter and I had a cup of the Smoked Salmon Chowder which was very thin and tasted like it had too much dill in it. Back to the main dish...it had smoked pulled chicken, pulled pork and brisket on it along with two sides of your choice. The pulled chicken was watery, the brisket was mushy (I suppose I just prefer my brisket to be sliced not chunky) and the pork was just OK. The potato salad I chose for my side was pretty decent though and the fries...well, you can't really screw up french fries, can you? Maybe I should have ordered the Chili Mac a friend told me to try? Anyways, the service was good as was the rotating beer selection. I tried an IPA as well as a glass of Rhubarb Cider which was excellent! Fast forward to a month later where myself and two friends stopped for an early dinner/late lunch before yet another concert. Our original server was great...until she went on break and we never saw her again. Again, the rotating beer selection was great and I enjoyed a Tropical Heat IPA (which had notes of mango and habanero in it...YUM!). For my meal I ordered the Chili Mac which was Pepperjack Mac and Cheese topped with Chili Verde (or their other chili if you prefer) as well as a side salad with Caesar dressing. When my salad came out it was served with Honey Mustard. At that point our server went on break. Nobody came by to check on us and since I was hungry I just ate the salad. When our food was delivered I noticed that the chili on top of my Mac and Cheese wasn't green (as Chili Verde is supposed to be, Verde=Green, right?) but the new server who dropped off our food walked away without asking if we needed anything else so I decided to have a few bites. She eventually came back to check on us and I let her know I had ordered the Chili Verde and she looked at me and said "Well I didn't take your order!" No shit Sherlock, but you could have read the ticket before you picked up the food from the pass shelf and noticed the order was wrong! Don't give ME any attitude because YOU had to pick up another servers table while SHE was on break! She took my plate back to the kitchen and had the cook fix my order and dropped it off with barely an apology for the screw up. At that point one of my friends decided to order a beer, after that was delivered we never saw another server EVER. Not to check on us, not to see if we would like another beer (which I did), not to drop off our check. We eventually made our way to the register to get our checks and pay as the blonde with attitude who had dropped off our food walked away when she saw us approaching it. Someone else eventually came and helped us and I really wish I could have just given her the tip I left as she was the only decent service we had gotten during our whole experience. Bottom line, this place gets three stars simply because of the fact that their rotating beer and wine selection has a little something for everyone. But that's just about it.

In Longview, Wa, there are slim pickings in regards to decent eats. It's a sad story when in 2012, the Sizzler is still one of the most popular restaurants in town. We didn't have high hopes for Hop-N-Grape/Smokehouse Pub just because of our experiences with other mediocre-to-horrible food in Longview. We were pleasantly surprised. I had the pulled smoked chicken, side of salad and side of mac & cheese. Hubby's order was the same, except he had the brisket. My order was perfect in every way. The salad was quite large and gourmet by Longview standards. Nice large bed of various leafy greens, shredded carrots, cucumbers, a few other items and a delicious vinegrette on the side. The mac & cheese, made with pepperjack, was creamy and smoky/spicy, without being overpowering or too spicy. My pulled chicken was a surprisingly large portion, plenty of white meat, delicious smoky flavor - and the BBQ sauces on the side were fantastic! The tangy mustard sauce compliments the chicken quite well. My husband's brisket, unfortunately, was dry. It was still quite flavorful and smoky, but just too dry to give two thumbs up, much to our chagrin. The microbrew selection was large, though some options were not available. There were substitutes, and this is how we were introduced to Southern Oregon Brewery's Pin Up Porter. If you like dark beer, do not miss this, it's my new fave! Plenty of seating, but was filling up fast by 5:45 pm when we left. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgable, a little rough around the edges....but that's Longview for you. We were NOT aware that you can have a bottle of microbrew from the store served at your table for a small fee. Wouldn't hurt to make this a routine offering to customers, or to post a sign or two that clarify this. The wait staff could use a little polishing. All in all, a very welcome experience. This place is a veritable oasis in the dry desert of Longview's culinary scene.
(4)Alex B.
Ambience was great. Beer selections on TV screens. Pulled pork sandwich was a bit dry and could use more flavor but over all experience was good.
(4)Michelle H.
Soooo yummy!
(5)Jennifer J.
I had the salmon which was delicious! I also ordered the side of pepper jack mac n cheese. SALTY! Waitress was sweet. Lax atmosphere. Great selection of wine and beer. Smells amazing when you walk in of BBQ! I'd go back and try again for sure. Although, if what I try next is as salty as the side, I probably won't go back for food.
(4)Sam P.
Excellent food service and atmosphere. House barbeque sauce was outstanding as was the Macaroni. Prices good, service great, and pleasant atmosphere. Far and away the best place I have eaten in Southwest Washington. One of the tops in the State! Thank you for the great experience!
(5)Tim L.
This place is awesome. I came here with my brother, we both were greeted and seated immediately. We both ended up getting the Prime Rib Dip which was amazing. For the side, you have to get the home made style pepper jack mac & cheese, its to die for. The waiting time on the food was appropriate. The restuarant is very clean and the atmosphere is very relaxing when you enter the room.
(5)Kim B.
Love this place. Consistent quality and service every time! Everything I've tried I have liked and this has become a staple in our eating out menu.
(5)Laura J.
I really really wanted to like this place. I had read the reviews here and thought, great, a place to go to drink some cider or beers and relatively inexpensive. But no, it did not happen that way. When we came in, it was packed, and I thought, good sign, lots of people and the food looked good. I had read the reviews about the wait so I knew that would be the case and it was - while we got our beer and cider pretty quick, she never brought us our water until we asked again. It took about 25 minutes to get us our food, me pulled pork with coleslaw, fries, and a small bun. and my husband had the "philly cheese" Brisket with fries. First, we have definitely noted a trend with the fries people serve. The serving size is getting smaller. So my husband says, if they make them small, they better be really good. But they weren't good. Mine were brown to a crisp while his were brown and cold. He sent his back. And then they were fine. But onto his sandwich. OMG you would think as salt eaters we would be fine with pulled pork and brisket but really, truly? I think they put an entire salt shaker into the brisket. He ate it because he was hungry at this point but that brisket was foul. My pulled pork was fine but the waitress did not know what she was talking about with the coleslaw. I asked if it was made with vinegar and she said yes. I asked if it was made with mayo and she said yes. OK - no you do not have both mayo and vinegar coleslaw, you have one or the other. I wished I could have tried the mac and cheese people raved about but gluten free, so no go. The atmosphere was getting boisterous, probably as people were drinking more than eating, and so we left. However, I did get a 6 pack of different ciders to try out. The meal was expensive for a sandwich and a platter and two drinks total but I now know of a great place to get cider, beer, wine, and mead but won't be eating there again.
(2)Phillip G.
Very good chicken, on a toasted roll. Potato salad with bacon is delicious! Good local beer selection and tons of bottles, to go. Definitely worth stopping.
(4)Carrie M.
This place has good service and a great beer and wine selection. My husband and I both had the pulled pork sandwich. The meat was very moist and tender, and the sauce was pretty good (I'm from Kansas City, so I'm a little particular when it comes to barbecue sauce :). I didn't care too much for the baked beans but the pepper jack mac and cheese is delicious! We will probably be back here next time we're out this way.
(4)Wendy B.
This place is awesome. My in-laws live in the Longview area and have been raving about Hop-N-Grape, so they took us when we came out to visit. I'm so glad they did! I tried the cherry cider and it was delicious. For my meal, I had the reuben, and I was not disappointed! Very good. My favorite though was the pepper jack mac and cheese! Amazing and definitely a must try! The prices are very reasonable, which is always nice, and our server was very friendly and attentive. Also, I have to say that I was very impressed with the selection of beers, ciders, and wine on the store side. I am a big fan of cider and have tried many kinds, but I had never even seen half of the ones they had! I was in cider heaven! I will definitely be returning to Hop-N-Grape whenever we are in the area again :)

This place is a wonderful place for food and beer. Last time my family and I went we all got and shared two flights of beer. I can't remember the specific names of the beers we tried but all of them were high quality and each of them uniquely flavorful. Each person in my party ordered something different and we all shared with each other. I got the Mac and cheese with chili Verde on it. The Verde was a lot more spicy on that day then it has been in the past and it was hard for me to eat but over all I enjoyed it a lot. My mother got Mac and cheese with the chili Colorado and that was great, it tasted a lot more mild and so she switched with me after a bit. My father got the Sausage sampler and that was amazing. You could clearly tell the difference between what sausage was what,as you get three or four different ones. My cousins got the three different meat sampler. It comes chicken, pork and beef brisket as well as two sides. The barbecue sauces are all house made and they are also very good. The mustard based sauce tastes best on the chicken and pork while the tomato one tastes best on the brisket. Over all I would defiantly recommend this place for any one over 21 who likes a good beer and good food. Things may seem to be expensive but over all i think its reasonable for what you get and the quality you would expect.

This review includes the Smokehouse Pub which is attached to Hop 'n Grape. Without the Smokehouse, this would be a normal bottle shop and small homebrew supply store with the basics, but the Smokehouse Pub makes this place awesome! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and the aroma of the smokers filters into the dining area to let you know you are in for a treat. The rotating taps of microbrews are awesome, and they offer beer flights if you want to try more than one. Plus, you can buy any beer from the bottle shop, and they will be happy to serve it at your table in the Smokehouse for a small additional fee ($1.25). I highly recommend this place to any beer enthusiast.
(4)Andy M.
Meal and beer were great dessert not so much. I can't quite say this place is a reason to come to Longview, but if you're in the area, it's a much better choice that the chain restaurant drudgery. The service was good although the food took a while to come out. We ordered the BBQ chicken wings with mole sauce, the Reuben sandwich, and the BBQ brisket sandwich. All were very tasty. Beer was a Dragon Tooth Stout, rich a flavorful. I should have known better than to order dessert in a place that is unlikely to make their own. The molten chocolate cake was barely warm and seemed to have come from the freezer to the microwave with not quite enough time in the latter, hardly worth the $4 I paid for it. The BBQ flavor in the meat dishes made for a good meal though, and with a good selection of beer and wine, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. They also have a great selection of retail wine & beer as well as full selection of beer and wine making equipment.
(3)Ashley K.
We were visiting from Portland and this place was recommended. We would recommend it again and again! The portions were great and the food was AWESOME. The Salmon chowder was great, the pulled pork sandwich and the Mac and Cheese were outstanding! If you are driving through this is the place to go!!
(5)Claire D.
Smokes salmon chowder to die for! Best I've ever had. Prices are reasonable too. Wings were a touch dry, but the spicy buffalo sauce compensated nicely
(4)Anne M.
The food here is great. It is mostly barbecue, however, and it would be nice to see a couple of healthier options since we all have days when we just can't do pulled pork or brisket - maybe a pasta option with a light sauce. There are great choices in the beer and wine categories, and it's fun to look at all the items in the store (beer and wine making supplies, craft beers, lots of wine and accessories) when lunch or dinner are over.
(4)Addie M.
The food was fair. I have had much better pulled pork. I am not sure why some rave about the mac and cheese, it was very bland. The hushpuppies were extremely dry. The service was terrible. We were there for almost 15 minutes before a waitress acknowledged our presence. It wasn't busy enough to justify that. She had poor customer service skills, did not welcome us or acknowledge our wait. They need a hostess or something. Once we got our food we never saw the waitress again and we wanted to order more drinks. We ended up just leaving. The four of us were not impressed and all agreed we would not be returning.
(2)Molly C.
Excellent BBQ! We tried the pulled pork sandwich, BBQ beef and BBQ Chicken and they were all delicious and very fresh tasting. I agree that the hush puppies need more flavor but the texture was good. The mac and cheese was grainy but homemade :( I I think the beans are the best side dish. And the biscuits taste like my mom ran to Longview and made them herself. SO yummy! The service was friendly and fast and the atmosphere was fun. Best place to eat in Longview!
(4)Lindsay S.
My boyfriend and I stopped by this place a few weeks back on our way home. I liked the open atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. They had great beers on tap and a smaller, decent selection of wine. The salad I got was HUGE and delicious and the mac and cheese was very good (and I really don't like cheese) LOL! I will definitely take a trip back when we are going through town again.
(5)Chris L.
Great BBQ and good service at fair prices. Solid 4 stars! Highly recommended!
(4)Mike L.
I gave this a five star rating partly because of the town it is in and the food that it has to compete with, after saying that... The Hop-N-Grape/ Smokehouse pub is fantastic clean sports bar with great food, beers and the service is outstanding.. Finaly a great casual place to eat in Longview. But I think it has been found, we were there on a Wednesday evening about 6:00 and the parking lot was full, but they got us in and great service.. We will be back.. Thanks
(5)Scott H.
So the Mac and Cheese kicks ass, damn good! Had the sausage platter with bell peppers and onions...delicious!
(4)Kristie C.
Great food, clean bar atmosphere. A nice place to go if you don't want to be around kids. Very clean restrooms too.
(4)Derek W.
I had the best service ever at Hop N Grape today! My waitress was Cassie and she was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable! I had been avoiding this restaurant based on service alone... I have always loved the food, but have always been disappointed with the service (long waits with no crowd, uninformed staff, ect.) but Cassie was amazing and I attend to come back regularly... providing she's is serving my table! I only hope I tipped enough!
(4)Holly W.
We stopped here based on other great yelp reviews. Hop-N-Grape did not disappoint! Don't ignore the recommendations for their mac and cheese; my husband and I both got it and LOVED it! They have a large selection of beer and wine, and a shop attached with lots of choices! I ordered the pulled pork and my husband had their ribs. Both were fantastic. It's obvious that they smoke their own meat and they were delicious! The cole slaw was okay: not the worst but not the greatest. We will be back!
(5)Michael D.
In town for business, and completely underwhelmed by our options, my colleague and I gave this place a shot. We didn't expect much from a BBQ place in the back of a beer store in Kelso. We were wrong though! The brisket was tender, smoky, and excellently seasoned. The pepper jack Mac n cheese was awesome (she liked it more than me... But it was still super good. I thought it needed more hot pepper flavor but I usually think pepper jack needs more spice anyways). The bacon potato salad was surprisingly perfect, not runny or mayo-y, and very tasty. And the ribs were large, cooked just right, and had a really good sweet-ish BBQ sauce. This is now our "official" Kelso dinner stop. Pleasantly surprised by the service after reading the reviews, too! They were attentive and nice. The atmosphere isn't awesome (they could do something to block the fluorescent lighting from the attached storefront, and there's too many TV's for me) but hey... It's a BBQ joint in a beer store. You should try it.
(4)Cathy G.
What a great place!!!! They have it all here. Great food and beer on tap. Also have all sorts of beer and wine to take home.. theBBQ. Is great!! Good variety of beer on tap. Was very pleasantly surprised at what a great place it is.
(5)Laura H.
Hop N Grape has the best chowder on this planet, it is so delish! However I wouldn't recommend some of their "pulled" meats. Though full of flavor, they can be dry too. The owner wanders around and helps out at the place, it's nice to see the owner involved and keep things running smoothly. If you like beer, they have plenty of beer on tap with a rotating list. Must be 21+!
(4)Don T.
Came with a large group for a retirement luncheon for a lady in the office. The resteraunt is literally located in back of a beer and winemaking supply store. I had the smoked salmon chowder and a salad. The soup was amazing. The price was reasonable and ther service was good
(4)Amber F.
GREAT BBQ!!!! Waitresses need some serious training, but food is amazing!! Pepper jack mac'n cheese! YES PLEASE! Try it with chili ;)
(4)Jim R.
Went hiking up at Mount St. Helens and found this place on the way back home. A little apprehensive since it was in Longview but it was just what we needed. A large we selection of craft beers and a nice menus with every good food. Service was excellent. If you are on your way through the area, try it we were pleasantly surprised.
(4)Steve S.
Great selection of taps, loved the sausage sampler
(5)Melissa H.
I went in for lunch today with my husband. It was my first visit, his second or third. His past experience was good, but the service was a bit slow. So we were prepared to wait a bit. He ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered the "chili verde" stew. His order was brought to us by the owner, who said he would go get my order right away. It took another five minutes, and he wasn't getting my order he was helping other customers. My guess is he went in the back and put it off on the waitress. So I finally get my cup of soup and salad and let me tell you that stew was AWFUL. They should call it "bell pepper" soup. The corn muffin was stone cold and lacked flavor. I complained to the waitress who offered me a cup of the chowder (which I don't generally like). I declined and was still charged for my soup. I will be waiting a while to see if these guys stay in business. Service really needs to be improved. The owners do not have any restaurant experience and it shows.
(2)Michael S.
(3)Paul S.
(2)Katherine V.
(3)Tara K.
(5)Magda S.
(4)Themighty T.
