This restaurant is tucked away on the second floor of a lovely building in Leavenworth. The door is small, so it can be easily missed from the street, and it doesn't necessarily stand out as nothing special from outside. That said, the interior is another story. The decor is classy with beautiful wood beam accents and neutral colors. The menu is impressive- be prepared for some hard decisions! Everything sounds good... I have to hand it to my waitress for being patient while my party and I tried to choose what to order. I had a smoked duck breast salad, my fiancé had the jagerschnitzel, his mom had bratwurst, and we shared a side of winekraut. Everything was fantastic. My duck breast was tender and full of flavor, my finance's jagerschnitzel sauce was rich and decadent, the bratwurst was flavorful, and the winekraut was perfectly balanced. The drink menu had great options for both beer and wine. Dessert menu looked awesome as well, but we were all too full... We will be sure to save a little room next time. After finishing our meal, I found out that the chef was trained in Germany- definitely a good thing. Cafe Mozart is my new go-to dinner place in Leavenworth.

Hmmm... How do I say this nicely... Cheese fondue: broken and flavorless.... Bread for said fondue... Bland and no variety and one step above wonder bread... Chicken schnitzel, both the hunter sauce and the wiener art version, BLAND and boring.... Service... Ho hum... "Oh, are you still here" attitude... Do yourself a favor (and some flavor!)... Go downstairs to Andreas Keller instead! Much better food with tons of flavor, great service, same prices, and much nicer atmosphere!!!!

Good food as usual, friendly service and an outside dining option, would have liked more substantial/comfortable seating outside. House Pinot is a fine accompaniment, no need to spring for $$$ wine.

Ordered $48 combo for two. As we Finished 1/3 of the food, about a 3inch metal wire was found in their red radish salad. I showed this to a waitress. Waitress takes my plate and comes back with only the metal wire taken off from the plate (food was all still there) and puts it in front of me, telling me they don't know how its gone in their food. She said their salad is canned food, so its not their false. Will she be able to tell the customer that its not their false if i broke my teeth chewing this metal wire?? Also, Does that mean everyones paying $50+ on combination of canned foods? She offered $15 off on the food where we found the metal wire (which cost $48 and only 1/3 was eaten before wire was found). Me and my girlfriend didn't want to argue so we paid for their combination of canned foods and just walked out. One star for their interior, that was nice. I dont write reviews at all, but this will be my first/last review i will ever write.

Great Authentic German Restaurant. It is surprisingly hard to find good German food west of the Mississippi/frankly it's almost impossible. Cafe Mozart makes the mark. Their Goulash was excellent-perhaps the best I have ever had in the states. The Bavarian salad was also a welcome authentic surprise! The pork schnitzel was a wee bit overcooked and served with cold potato salad (major foul-hence the 4 stars and not 5). However, while in Leavenworth we visited 4 other top ranking German restaurants and they all failed horribly. Including "Keller" which is below Cafe Mozart and owned/operated by the sister of Cafe Mozart's owner-Ouch! When we return to Leavenworth this restaurant will be the only German fare we revisit. Mahlzeit!

My husband and I have eaten at many of the finest restaurants in Seattle, but have never had a finer experience than we did at Cafe Mozart in Leavenworth. We went to dinner there and had appetizers, wine, dinner and desert. Everything about our meal was incredible. Our service was just how you want it. Angie Gunderson was attentive, professional, knowledgable and sweet. She knew the menu well and guided us perfectly. It's obvious that the chef cares about his creations because every bite was delectable. I can't wait until our next meal at this phenomenal restaurant.

After many years of visiting Leavenworth, finally decided to try this place based on reviews from fellow Yelpers. So glad we did! We shared the goulash soup, large mixed salad plate and Jaeger Schnitzel w/spaetzle. Way too mcuh food for 2 people, but boy, was it good! The highlight of the meal was the goulash soup. Cannot wait to be here next January when its snowing outside and we can come warm up to a bowl of this! Yummy!

My favorite meal in Berlin, Germany included the tastiest cucumber salad I'd ever eaten. I honestly thought I would never be able to eat this again and then we went to Cafe Mozart. I can now die happy knowing that a place here in America can recreate the most delicious cucumber salad in the world. The other food is good too. It is classy and fits with the classic and sophisticated ambiance of Cafe Mozart. They'll serve you whether you're in jeans or a suit, but in an amazing, elegant restaurant such as this, it would be best to dress up a bit so you fit in with the cloth tablecloth, napkins, and portraits of the great Mozart. If you're visiting Leavenworth to experience a piece of Little Bavaria, I would highly recommend that you eat a meal here.

We've been coming here for almost 20 years. The absolute best place in town for classic, beyond heavenly Bavarian cuisine. Christina and Richard have upheld their amazing standards since they opened their doors back in 1996. We are happy to announce that even though Cafe Mozart has evolved into the magnificent Mozart's (the remodel is amazing!) we were still able to find our favorite Bavarian favorites on the menu. This time we started off with the Escargots with Wild Mushrooms (you'll never find anything comparable in the finest Seattle restaurants). We decided to go all out and have the Mozart's Platter for two (see the photos). All of our favorites in one magestic platter. The best of the best of schnitzel, bratwurst, pork shanks, pork belly and my favorite red cabbage, winkraut and potatoes. Our visit wouldn't have been the same without Adria, our waitress and cuisine specialist. It's not surprising that she is part of the Mozart's team. Mozart's is definitely a must for anyone wanting to experience the absolute BEST in Barvaian cuisine!

Leavenworth has a lot of restaurants and glad to try Mozart's when I'm there. It has elegant dining room and Bavarian interior. We had no expectation of German food and didn't expect any good food too. Our waitress recommended few dishes to us and we took her advice. Crab cakes - It's was ok but arugula very fresh Escargots with wild mushrooms - It's quite buttery but tasted good and severed with French baguette. Muenchener Sauerbraten - Roasted beef with red cabbage. I liked the sour and sour red cabbage wine kraut, so decilious. Grilled garlic prawns whole grain pasta - walnut and almond pesto was good but a bit greasy. The meals were exceeded our expectation in such small town! I would recommend any first time visitor to Mozart.

The food, while most likely authentic, was extremely buttery. To the point that we couldn't eat half of it. And by "buttery" I mean it tasted like highly buttered movie popcorn. And beyond that, it tasted like margarine rather than real butter. We had the halibut (seasonal menu) and the sampler platter. The halibut was inedible. It literally tasted like popcorn. The sampler was better, but the schnitzel (again) left you wiping your face to rid yourself of excess butter. On the up side the service was decent, the atmosphere nice, and the food and wine selection was fine. I would recommend the salads combo plate for an appetizer. It's quite good (and no butter).

Decent, but seems like all Leavenworth restaurants are overpriced for what you get. Too bad, Leavenworth could make this a food destination but I suppose the tourist don't demand it. The competition just doesn't seem to force these restaurants to take it up a notch. I'd go if you want German home cooked food. . .meaning its nothing fancy, just sauces and gravy that you could make yourself. We had the Schnitzel and duck salad. . .both were good. Smoked Duck breast was $22 and I felt like that was an appetizer salad size. It was also dry. Adjust your expectations of the food down and add 30% above what you think you should be paying.

Mozarts had good reviews so we decided to have lunch here. When it was relatively empty when we walked in, I was apprehensive. We ordered the platter for two and it was very good. The veal schnitzel had a light thin crust and was tasty. The 2 kinds of sauerkraut were delicious, the red wine one was one of the best I ever had. The sausage had a nice spice seasoning. The veal leg and pork belly were delicious. Overall, great food and service. I had a draft beer and it was very good.

Cocktails are a 10, especially Moscow mule! Pork tenderloin jaeger schnitzel was amazing! I think the potions are a little on the lighter side, but id definitely go back

We had lunch at Andreas Keller, which was fine but overpriced for what they offered... But.... For dinner, we went to Mozart's and it is incredible! To start, our bread was hot and fresh out of the oven. Fresh soft butter, too. I ordered the jäger schnitzel and my mom ordered the sauerbraten. The schnitzel was delicious. I could taste the fresh butter in the sauce, and the mushrooms were much better and more flavorful than your average button. The sauerbraten just fell apart, and was perfectly seasoned. Wow. I love this place. I will always come back when I'm in the area!

We had a great experience! Fabulous German food and amazing service. Thank you Briee! They are newly remodeled and are casually elegent. Don't be turned off by the more contemporary decor, Mozart's is family friendly!

Some of the best German food I have ever eaten. The Escargot is to die for I almost licked the plate. The Fried Cheese is the Bombsnizle!

I ate at Mozart's about 8 years ago and the food made such a great impression that I sought it out again. My memory did not fail me; all the food was excellent!! Our party had the Sauerbraten, jaegerschitzel, Porterhouse steak, Chicken Paillard Sandwich....I sampled all of it and found them delicious. In addition, our waitress was friendly and efficient. Hard to imagine a better experience. I will be going back ASAP

Great food and excellent service. Waitress went out of her way that help us. Love the atmosphere here too. You must try that platter for 2, its amazing! But order a salad, there's no veggies on it. Reuben was fantastic too. We will be back again!

2nd floor restaurant of a Bavarian style house. Went on a Monday to dine. I had a small appetite and ordered a German Mac & cheese. I forget the name because it was a foreign word. The pasta was homemade, and the melted cheese was delish. Quick in and out for me, the service was nice, quite pricey for Mac and cheese $14.00 I think. Nice decor.

This restaurant is located on the main strip of town. As it was fully booked for dinner, so we decided to have Linner instead. We were seated at the table by the front balcony overlooking the town gazebo, if this was the lighting festival, this will be the prime spot to catch the sights. We ordered: Hot apple cider Alpine Marzen Amber Ale Pork Jäger Schnitzel with Mushroom Sauce Amadeus Schmankerl Plate Viennese Apple Strudel with Ice Cream The Apple Cider is super sweet so ask the waitress for another cup of hot water to dilute it down.. The ale was refreshing and light The Pork jäger schnitzel is as it should be, lightly breaded with very flavorful mushroom sauce served with a side of spatzle. The Amadeus plate has 2 different bratwurst ; apple pork brat and cranberry merlot brat, served with German potato salad, wine sauerkraut , red cabbage and sweet mustard. Finished the meal with the Viennese Apple Strudel with Ice Cream, it was served warm with a light crust and wonderful apple filling. All that was missing was dark rye bread instead of the crunchy dinner rolls we were given and this meal would have been perfect. Can't believe this place is packed at 4pm in the afternoon, will come back again to try the potato pancakes and fried cheese sampler.

We had the escargot with mushrooms and bread, also, the cheese fondue platter. The escargot dish was savory with the butter sauce. Lots of mushrooms and just the right amount of escargot to go with. The escargot did taste a little like dirt, not sure if it's supposed to taste like that but it wasn't too bad. The bread was deliciously crunchy but soft on the inside. The cheese fondue had a little bit of everything; bread, assorted potatoes, sausage, and even apples. Washed all this down with a porter that's brewed in Leavenworth.

Rock me Amadeus! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) Leavenworth is a town of umpapa, but the German food, while a draw, is just okay. Here at Cafe Mozart, I really appreciate the attempt at taking that German food and making it fresh, tasty and more enjoyable, and not so much a check the box experience. Highlights included a crazy tower of escargot appetizer (in the category of looked odd, but tasted good) and a very delicious plate of sausage, potato, red cabbage that I would order again, no hesitation. Skip the fondue --the bread is pretty bad, and that's just about a deal breaker when it comes to fondue. You get to Leavenworth and you are all ramped up to eat German food, and set off into a street full of just okay, but here at Mozart, they are making it fun, enjoyable and trying a little harder (or succeeding a little better) than the rest. Cafe Mozart is located directly upstairs from Andreas Keller and its fancy and its a little bit much, what with all the refined classical Mozart playing on the loudspeaker, but in terms of food in town, its a good option and one of the better plates of food in Leavenworth. Okay, so its maybe not a four in Seattle or Portland, but here in Leavenworth, it certainly rates a four and delivers a nice solid plate of German food and a nice night out on the town.

Beautiful restaurant for a special evening and dinner. Food was very good. We had osso bocco and schnitzel. Wine very nice as well. Good service. Menu is not very diverse though.

A little pricy but the food is good! I really like their german potato salad and their veal jaeger schnitzel. Everytime we come here theres no one here, it's a little odd. Last time we went here the server was a little rude, but overall the experience was good.

This is a top notch German restaurant. They just remodeled their eating area...classy. Don't think you will ever find better crab cakes. The escargot appetizer is unbelievably delicious. The service is as good as their food.

Mother's day dinner was disappointing. The salmon on potatoes and cauliflower pureed was served over cooked and believe it or not, the potatoes were cold. Not one serving but two plates. Atmosphere was dull. I won't go back for a long while.

I enjoyed this place a lot! As far as food and drinks go: - You need to get the cheese fondue, it was amazing. - I had the pork schnitzel with marinara and parmesan. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it looked and pretty much tasted exactly like chicken parmesan. - My husband had the reuben and he liked it a lot. - I had the hot cider as a drink. It was good but not amazing. Definitely strong. The service was pretty slow which was a bummer. I think the hostess was also the only waitress in the place when we went on a Friday night, so we waited a while before getting any drinks.

Loved this place! Went for lunch with our toddler, thoroughly enjoyed the cheese fondue & spread of options to enjoy it with! Our daughter has been pretty picky with food lately, and when the lovely hostess noticed that she was enjoying the pickle that came with my husband's meal, she brought a whole bowl of baby dills for her, and then cut up another whole pear for her after she ate all of mine, no extra charge! I had also asked for unsweetened iced tea, and they didn't have any brewed, so she gave me a soda for free. Exceptional service and amazing food.

The Gulyas was truly wonderful, with tender meat, buttery brown base, and rich paprika flavor! The balcony is the best seat overlooking the park (if your lucky a band will be playing to serenade you and yours!). The pork tenderloin is fresh and moist. The mushroom gravy is tarragon based with fresh mushrooms. Loved the German Spaetzl, but had a few hard noodles. The German cucumber salad was perfect, not to sweet not too sour. Finished with the streudel and it was near perfect! The apples and raisins were subtle, and there was no shortage of cream. Paired with a small scoop of fantastic vanilla bean ice cream. Pastry was very good!

This was the high-point, dining-wise, of our Leavenworth trip; however, there were a few aspects that kept them from being perfect. As near as I can tell, they are completely non-handicapped-accessible; the restaurant is at the top of a steep flight of stairs. Upon arriving on the second floor, we were seated promptly and service was polite and attentive. I ordered a Zweibelrostbraten (a.k.a. German Prime Rib) which came with French pastry potatoes (little fried potato puffs), and my wife got a Sauerbraten with bread dumpling. The Zweibelrostbraten was amazing, although the red cabbage side was quite sour for my preference. My sweetie's Sauerbraten seemed just okay, and the 'bread dumpling', instead of being little round knödel, was a big slice of some sort of stuffing loaf; it was quite dry and disappointing. I still recommend them, as it was overall a good experience, but I can't help being disappointed that the best food we found in Leavenworth still wasn't as good as the German meal we had 'back home' at Heidelberg Haus in Seattle.

  • Meghan G.

I ordered the Bratwurst sample and it was absolutely delicious. The potato salad is unique and yummy, and the red cabbage/sauerkraut mix is tasty. I'd highly recommend eating lunch or dinner when in Leavenworth!

We had heard great things about this place so we tried it out for lunch. The menu is fairly wide spread with all sorts of different offerings. The service was rather lacking. The food was decent. we both had paninis and i would suggest that.

Great food, poor service. Party of 4, salads, crab cakes, & thr pork. All was very good! However the bad service tainted our experience. Very slow and they weren't crowded. Didn't offer drinks, just wanted us to order. Slow getting food or any additional service. Didn't offer ground pepper, had to ask and acted put out. Was going to order after dinner drink but never came back but finally brought the bill so no drink, and that's where threy make money, their Loss. Just poor service. Won't recommend or be back.

Meh at best. Had the beef goulash and it was good but not great. The bread served was good but the service was very very slow and the prices high. It's pretty much a tourist spot though, like much of leavenworth, so I expected the prices to be higher.

  • Kathy H.

We went for lunch but nothing much appealed to us. We ordered crab cakes and the cheese plate and a bottle of Sauvignon blanc. The crab cakes were fantastic for the middle of central Washington. We enjoyed the cheese. It's pricey. Maybe like Mozart, you have to be a little crazy to eat here.

    (3)
  • Jason A.

Had a great pork jaeger schnitzel and the red cabbage. Wife had the leak and sausage soup. Both were excellent and had fresh hot bread.however the red cabbage was super sweet and by the finish line had become over powering. Other than that it was a nice German lunch.

While I wanted to go to South based on reviews, the people in my group voted to eat German. Mozart reviews seem to edge out Andreas Keller and King Ludwig. I like the fact you are upstairs instead of in the basement. We were able to step outside on the balcony and watch the Oktoberfest Parade go buy (was slightly too cold to sit out there.) and it is nice to have some daylight filling the dinning room which is pleasant and cheery without feeling too upscale. Food is solid. I'm not a spaetzle expert, and don't know if it is suppose to be a little crispy or mushy like pasta (maybe there are two styles?) but theirs is mushy. Mushroom sauce on the Jaeger Schnitzel was excellent. There schnitzels are lightly breaded and well cooked, although slightly on the dry side, but if they left any sort of pink in the middle, that would probably scare people. We were a little disappointed the meals only came with one side (we ate lunch there.) I would have liked my schnitzel to have come with spaetzle AND red cabbage. You have to order something else that doesn't have the spaetzle but does come with the cabbage it looked like. A side salad wasn't on the menu but they accommodated me with one as most restaurants will do. The probably would include a side of cabbage too now that I think about it. Dressing was excellent although they put a little too much on. Service was very friendly and prompt. 5 stars. I'm a little perplexed about the comments in other reviews for this and the other nearby restaurants being a "good value." Lunch entrees were typically in the $16-$20 range which is a bit steep for what you get, but I suppose not when you consider you are eating in the heart of one of the most touristy destinations in the state. Like any tourist destination I'm sure there are much better values to be had as you get farther from the center of town. I've eaten at King Ludwigs and I liked this experience much better, maybe because we got our festival atmosphere fill from going to actual Oktoberfest. If you want the Oktoberfest experience outside Oktoberfest season, then King Ludwigs or Andreas Keller are a better choice than Mozart. If you just want the best German food in town, and want to be in a more low-key, quiet atmosphere, then Mozart is the way to go. But to be honest, the German restaurants don't offer the best meals in the town. There's an Italian and Mexican place that are more gourmet. I suppose though you can only take a schnitzel so far.

  • Adrian S.

I started with cold-smoked Norwegian salmon served on a potato pancake, topped with sour cream and red onions. Excellent. I followed that with a really nice veal schnitzel and German potato salad with a side of red cabbage. I didn't realize that the portions would be as large -- otherwise I wouldn't have ordered the side. I wish the potato salad and cabbage were smaller servings, and both came with veal. But, I don't own the place so I guess I'll quit whining. This place is very nice inside and tastefully decorated. it's a relief to get away from the oompah music for a while. Here, it's -- you guessed it -- Mozart. Overall, this is a very nice restaurant with good food.

My SO and I made reservations about a week ahead of time to eat at Mozarts, which was unnecessary because there was only one other couple in the restaurant at 6pm on a Friday night. This was astonishing to me, but it is the "off season" for Leavenworth... To start, the rolls they brought out were warm and obviously made in-house, which was great! My SO ordered the zwiebelrostbraten, and he said it was "the strangest steak he had ever eaten", but I can't imagine he disliked it all too much, given how empty his plate was! I ordered the chicken schnitzel with jaegar sauce and a side of spaetzle. Everything was perfect. It was such a generous helping that I could not quite clear my plate. For dessert, we ordered the apple strudel and loved it! Our waitress was very attentive and never let our water glasses get empty!

This place is just adorable. I go to Oktoberfest every year, and this is now a place I'll visit annually. Potato Soup was amazing. Foodgasm. Amazing. The mushroom sauce was to die for, and unlike most bavarian food I've tried this was seasoned to perfection. Skip King Ludwig's. Go here.

OpenTable failed to contact the restaurant staff to communicate to them the reservation we'd successfully booked. Staff shared they were not the only local business whose bookings had been hosed over the holidays, and they would likely drop OpenTable soon. Recommend calling to reconfirm reservations made via OpenTable.

The service was lacking. Our cheese fondue was really grainy, the bread was stale, and the apples had oxidized. My friend had the pork tenderloin which was super tough and chewy- he could have used a steak knife. I had the sauerbraten which was tender, hence the two star rating.

My boyfriend and I came here for desert and coffee. We were strolling around late and found the door open so we decided to see if they were open. Even though they were closing up shop for the night, the staff graciously seated us out on their lovely balcony. Desert was divine!

After a brat and a brew down the street, we felt like grabbing dessert. It was off-season on a Monday evening but there were still several parties in the dining room and one busy but cheerful server. We split a strudel for around $7 and enjoyed the quiet and romantic atmosphere.

Veal Schnitzel with traditional lemon was very good. Spaetzle very very good. Red cabbage was very sour-way too much vinegar. Waitress was efficient and fun.

Food was decent but expensive. The service is HORRIBLE!!!! Slow!!! We had to wait forever for everything, and they weren't that busy. The server kept walking past us even though we were staring at her and had our plates pushed away from us. I will take my money somewhere else next time.

While in Leavenworth, my family figured we should treat ourselves to a Bavarian dinner. We dined at Café Mozart on a quiet Sunday evening, most of the weekend tourist traffic had already left. It's a lovely place on the second floor, and we had a nice view of the street below and the mountains north of the village. Our waitress was so nice, she took excellent care of us! We started off with a cheese sample platter, essentially deep-fried cheese with preserves and marinara on the side. I can't believe we still had our main courses to come! Our son chose a Kobe burger, and polished it off happily. My husband had the chicken schnitzel, which had a delicious mushroom sauce and came with winekraut. I had sauerbraten. I loved it, but couldn't finish it and shared it with the guys.... We thoroughly enjoyed our visit in Leavenworth, and Café Mozart was great!

Such a great spot to stop in when visiting Leavenworth. They are located in the perfect location with the perfect view! The food is delicious, we had the grilled chicken salad and the chicken saurcraut, sooooo yummy!

I like their tiny balcony (can only fit 2 people per table and only single direction traffic only). Front 2nd floor, you can see and hear the center action on Front St. Over all, food is good and services. My Beef Goulash is on the salty side. I need to eat it with bread for sure to balance it out.

We came here for birthday dinner for my boyfriend last Friday. I called earlier in the evening and they said as long as we get in by 8:45 we'd be just fine with dinner. We arrived right on time and the lady working made us feel as if we were lucky to arrive while they were still serving. But as soon as we ordered a bottle of wine she turned right around. The food was pretty great. I ordered the duck breast salad and loved it. The dessert was also beautiful.

Wanted to grab a quick bite before heading to a rafting trip. The place wasn't crowded at all like some of the other places we stopped at. We were one of 2 groups there at the time. I enjoyed a very tasty chicken panini. The service was quick and we were able to have a decent meal without having to rush to the rafting place after. I'd like to go back sometime and try some of the other items on the menu.

Great chicken panini. Very charming interior with mozart music playing. Quick service. Good prices. It is on the second story so outside seating is nice, overlooking the live band. I forgot my back pack at the cafe, the nice server lady ran out to hand it to me!

Nice fine dining, leave your kids at home. This is a classy place. Upstairs (not for the faint), decor like something from the White House in DC, the food was delicious. We dined in the veranda, which was very cozy. Beautiful views though. No rush, casual.

Loved the ambiance, pianist, service. Food was better than average and just what we expected. We had the shared sampler platter which had a great array of options to try. I actually loved the fried cheese appetizer we ordered. You should go if in town!

sigh, I don't like leaving lack luster reviews. Almost as much as I don't like poor service, a menu different from what was posted on the website, (note if anyone in your party has a gluten allergy or is vegetarian there is nothing you can eat) and a $96 bill for two people. That being said what I ordered did taste good and was incredibly filling.

Really fantastic food. I had feared the wait would be horrendous during Oktoberfest, but we were seated right away. Great service, and nice and quiet after the drunken debauchery of Oktoberfest. We had the Oktoberfest platter, which had a ridiculous amount of food- my favorite was the schnitzel. Recommended!

My daughter and I had lunch here last weekend and it was delicious!!! We only had to wait about 5 minutes despite the amount of people in town at the time. The food was very authentic German. My daughter had the bratwurst sampler and there was enough food on her plate for two people. I had the sauerbraten, which was delicious, however the portion of meat on the plate was VERY small. We had the marzipan torte for desert, which was scrumptious!!! I definitely recommend Cafe Mozart if you are looking for authentic German food in Leavenworth.

This place was decent. The bread was good. I had the rainbow trout. it was pricey. but pretty decent. the potatoes were a bit buttery though. I would give this 3.5 stars if I could.

There food is excellent - the best in Leavenworth. If you are thinking about German food tonight, you need to try this place. According to my German friends, the food is quite authentic too. Keep up the good worth!

Service was quick and friendly, as we were literally the only people eating there on a Thursday night. Food was just so-so and kind of bland in my opinion though. For $65 for two people I was expecting a little more to be honest. Our bread tasted like regular grocery store bread and the decor could use a little sprucing up (such as the Formica tables).

Went here for a romantic birthday dinner, I had the chicken parm. with marinara sauce and my hubby had the same but with white sauce my was huge and yummy, my hubby's was huge but he did not like the white sauce at all. I wound up taking half of mine back to the hotel totally worth it.

We were a group of eight. We were ready to eat about an hour prior to our reservations. The were more than happy to seat and serve us even though we were early. Great staff, and good food. One person wasn't so thrilled with his ribeye steak, but we were in a German restaurant, so.... Everyone else really enjoyed their meals. Fast, prompt and courteous service will always have us coming back.

This was such a pleasant surprise. Last time we came to town the food at various restaurants left a lot to be desired. Cafe Mozart was quaint and quiet and very moderately priced. For a tourist town, the prices and quality were fantastic. They had lot of choices for my non Germany friends to try some of my faves like red cabbage (which was amazing) and spaetzle, which was equally good and cheesy. I would highly recommend Cafe Mozart to anyone in town who wants to have a nice real German meal.

This place feels weird. We ate on the balcony which was nice if you are just a couple. My duck's sauce was too sweet and my wife's salmon overcooked. That being said the duck itself was wonderful and the salmon tasty. The service was excellent and their wine list has many selections that are extremely reasonably priced. Somehow I think there are better choices in town.

Cafe Mozart's food menu is a bit dated, although steaks in the summer months are excellent and the sides of salads, slaws, etc., tend to be quite good. The reason this is a five star review is because of one appetizer -- the escargot. This is hands down the best treatment of escargot that we have ever found and we have eaten at some very good french restaurants both here in the states and in Europe. They are cooked in a butter cream sauce chock full of fresh herbs and mushrooms. Then a baguette is partly hollowed out and filled to the brim with the whole escargot/sauce/mushroom mixture. The sauce permeates the bread, which is soooo delicious, even after you have eaten the yummy snails. There will be sauce left over, and you don't want to let any of it go to waste. This is a very rich treat, and something we only do a couple times a year, but we don't pass it up when we're in Leavenworth. If you like Cafe Mozart, check out Fresh Burger Cafe as well, for lunch, as they are related.

A good afternoon spot to escape from the heat and crowded streets. Walking in the doorway and looking up the stairs, it looks like it's going to be very expensive, it's on the high end of moderate without being outrageous. I'm not saying go here for cheap eats by any means, but expect to pay about $13 - $18 for a lunch plate. I got some Mozart something special - two brats, potato salad, beet salad and kraut - for $13. A beer is about $4.50? The food itself is ok, but the real value here is the outdoor patio you can sit on. It overlooks where they often set up music and it's easy to hear the performances from the comfort of your tiny table for two. It would be hard to accomodate more than a twosome outside. The patio gets afternoon shade, go to grab a drink and chill while the polka band plays across the street.

New Years Eve 2011, set menu. I do not recall the name of what I ordered, but it did have pickled red cabbage, pot roast, and a potato bread. Girlfriend had the prime rib. I had wanted to try something traditionally German, and I learned my lesson. The pot roast was decent, but the cabbage was mediocre, and I hate to say it but the potato bread was the best part. On the other hand, my girlfriend's prime rib dish was spectacular. She normally eats very little, and rarely eats meat, but she reportedly loved the prime rib, even though it was still quite rare. The side dish was some type of scalloped potato that again was fantastic. I felt lucky to have a couple bites from each. Dessert was apple strudel for me which was amazing, and some sort of organ burnt cream for her. Both desserts were very good. Service was fine. Our waitress was timely and polite. However, the greeter seemed to be a little off. We had made reservations but when we arrived, she simply said we could seat ourselves. When asked if any part of the restaurant was quieter or nicer, her response was "oh, not really". This seems to be a common attitude for those who work in businesses in Leavenworth. Folks are not impolite, but generally seem to lack the polish that I am accustomed to.

We came in looking for a low-key lunch--the place was a bit more upscale than we expected, and nearly dead at 2pm on a Thursday, but the food was AWESOME. We would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for GOOD german food in Leavenworth (warning, there is apparently a lot of bad german fare!) The place is upstairs, quiet, atmosphere is nice. They played classical the entire time we were there. My husband tried the Kase-Spaetzle, and I had sausage with kraut, and both were pretty darn good. Wouldn't recommend this to someone looking for a cheap and easy meal, but if you are looking for a romantic place for dinner, or good eats, certainly check it out. Finally, I have heard from the locals, you should get reservations if you want a seat here on the weekends when the crowds get heavy.

My new wife and I went here for dinner after our marriage ceremony, as it looked like a quiet, romantic setting. And indeed it was, with a pianist playing in the background, and a semi-private room with only a couple of tables. The escargot appetizer was delicious, as were the main dishes. My wife got the duck, and I got the steak. And the deserts were quite amazing, especially the chocolate pyramid (a great mousse concoction). Overall, a perfect wedding dinner location.

We visit Leavenworth about 10-14 nights a year for the past three years, and frankly, I just can't get too excited about German food. Having said that, Cafe Mozart has probably been the best one that we've been to. I had the "Wolfgang's Favorite" Pork Tenderloin. I enjoyed it. The pork was flavorful and moist and the mushroom sauce was very good. I can't get to excited over the spaetzel noodles...kind of blah to me. My wife had the Classic Steak sandwich....nothing to write home about. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We were in an inner room with two other tables...a little cramped and noisy to me. All in all, an enjoyable meal. Would I come here again? If we had guests who definitely wanted a nice German meal, perhaps.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner Friday, right before Oktoberfest began. It was empty but for some reason we had to wait quite awhile to be greeted by our server. However, a little later once more people started coming in, I noticed everyone else was greeted right away so Im willing to believe it was just a fluke/we had some bad timing. I am also willing to overlook the wait because I came in hoping to get the Wild Mushroom Linguine but discovered they were only serving a special limited menu because of the festival, of which the linguine was not part of . Thankfully, because it was still slow, they were willing to make it for me anyway! Also, once we had ordered, the food came very fast. The only food complaint I have was that the bread was served at room temp. Im not sure if this is just how they do it or not. It didnt actually taste bad or anything, it was just unexpected and I imagine it might have been better warm.

Went here this weekend, the schnitzel was excellent and the service prompt and friendly. The mushroom sauce was also excellent. Lost one star only because the spaetzl, which was had an excellent texture, was bland. If they'd have put some of that mushroom sauce on it, it would be 5 star for sure. Definitely worth eating here.

I took my girlfriend here for our Anniversary dinner as a part of a Leavenworth-getaway-anniversary present. FOOD: We shared one of the platters (the Mozart platter, loaded with German-ish foods). The schnitzel was the runaway favorite, but everything we had was very delicious. DRINK: We had a very nice, moderately priced Pinot, my only complaint is that they were out of our first choice, which is always a little sad at a restaurant. ATMOSPHERE: This is a really nice upstairs restaurant. We were there in winter, but I can only imagine that the balcony would be great in the summer. The inside is very faux German, emphasis on the faux, but hell, the whole town is pretty faux so it didn't bother me. They had a pianist on Saturday night. He was playing an electric piano and wasn't the most passionate player I've ever seen, but it's a nice atmospheric touch. I'd recommend this place as a nice quiet dinner spot based on our experience. I can only imagine it's much different for lunch / in the summer.

The service was fantastic, and the german beers on tap were tasty. Unfortunately, the food was just "ok". This wouldnt be a big deal normally, but paying $50+ for three mediocre entrees and a beer was a real bummer.

Stopped at Cafe Mozart for entrees and desserts. Located upstairs on the main drag at Front Street, it was around 1/3rd full when we got there at 8pm. Place was clean and well appointed for the Germanic theme. Dress code is pretty casual. Harpist was playing away when we arrived. Mix of couples in the restaurant - no kids sighted. Menu is as others have noted is the upper-end of standard Germanic fare. After a simple complimentary salad, Lu started with the "Amadeus" duck, and I with the pork schnitzle. I as usual swapped dishes 1/2 way through. The duck was roasted and coated in a sweet sauce. Came accompanied by some pickled cabbage, and potato pancakes. The duck was just a little overdone IMHO, I'm not a lover of cabbage either but it still tasted good. I had the schnitzle Jaeger style - nice mushroom sauce, with spaetzle. The schnitzle was huge, flavourful and not too overdone with crumbs. (certainly a lot better than another review had experienced) In hindsight we should have ordered a side of vegetables to get our greens dose - but never mind. The wine list was pretty comprehensive - a lot of local wines as well as a reasonable selection of European and New World cousins. We picked a Silver Lake Cab Sauv, light balanced and fruity. Having ate so much, Lu picked a liquid dessert - a Late Harvest Riesling also from Silver Lake. Sweet sugary goodness to top off a pleasant meal. While not the best restaurant that I've been to, I would probably come again.

Cold night air, a Bavarian village, nestled in the mountains... We walked up the stairs to a genuinely, Bavarian establishment, with piano music wafting through the cozy corridors and various dining rooms. The lights were low, and their glow reflected off of the Bavarian spruce furniture carved in the traditional style. We skipped an appetizer due to the healthy portions of the main entries, which also came with a German marinated salad consisting of carrots, cabbage, greens and potato salad... We had pork medallions on a bed of spaetzle and sweet red cabbage salad... And a filet mignon with a peppercorn reduction and fried German potato cakes... I had to have a glass of shiraz with the steak! :-) Both dishes were yummy and so melt-in-your-mouth tender! All of the flavor sensations melded into a scrumptious experience! We decided not to stop there... And finished with a gelato consisting of vanilla, chocolate and pistachio.... We thoroughly enjoyed the experience... And our stay in Leavenworth...

We had time to kill in Leavenworth during lunchtime and happened upon this place. Ate on the balcony, a pleasantly warm day and there was a street fair going on across the street. I had the potato soup and a caprese salad, it was very very good! DH had the chicken pannini, we share all of our meals and I have to say, I ate way more than my share of that sandwich. It was truly one of the best panini I have had even in the Seattle area. Service was prompt, gracious and there is something real nice about the ambiance of the place with the music. Definitely will eat there again and hopefully soon!

If you are ever in the mood for a liter beer, great German food, and a cozy atmosphere, then Cafe Mozart is a must. I had the chicken schnitzel and a liter beer of hofbrauhaus. Both were delicious. It is a small restaurant so if you happen to sit next to a large party, bring earplugs. Prices may turn off some folks but it is definitely worth it.

I've been to Leavenworth many times and have never really loved any of the german places I've tried. Until now! This place was exceptional! With our entrees we had delightful salads with a variety of small bites of carrots, cabbage, potato salad and green salad. I had the cheese schnitzel and it was perfect. The breading was just right - crispy and hot. My husband had the Muenchner Sauerbraten and it was wonderful - I was jealous! Tbe beef was incredibly tender and the red cabbage the best I've ever tasted - plus a potato dumpling and all for $20 at dinner time - a bargain! I lived in Germany for more than 4 years and have eaten real live german food and this was by far the best I've ever had! The beer recommendation was perfect - we've already purchased some more of it from the cheesemonger shop. The service was excellent as well. I've walked by the place a few times since and every time I see someone glancing at the menu I've encouraged them to go upstairs and some have!

We had good memories of this place from when we visited last many years ago. We had the cheese plate for the appetizer, it was ok but I was disappointed that it was all fried. The sides went well with the cheeses. I ordered the mushroom linguine and it was amazing, it alone deserves 5 stars. It came with a plate of five kinds of salads and they were all very good. The staff were friendly and kept the cups full without being overbearing. It is a fun little place to eat.

Loved the escargot appetizer - came sauteed with mushrooms and light cream sauce and presented inside a perfectly toasted half baguette. This made our meal most memorable. The veal schnitzel was OK and not outstanding. But the roasted half duck was GREAT! It was very tender, not overdone, and the skin was crispy. Even the pickled red cabbage that accompanied the duck was yummy. Overall, I enjoyed the food in a nice, quiet atmosphere with live piano music.

If you're going to go to Leavenworth, it makes sense to have German food while you're there. There are plenty of places on the frontage road, and we've tried several of them, but Cafe Mozart is our favorite. It's upstairs so things are a bit quiter, there are fewer kids/families, and the place is spotless. We go for the schnitzle (pork, veal or chicken) and then accompany it with the red cabbage, potato pancakes and spaetzle. The rest of the menu is typical German food with a nice mix of entrees and side dishes. Its always been good and we've never been disappointed. They have a full bar with German beers and wine but on a cold day, we like the spiced hot apple cider.

  • Scott G.

You can't beat the central location of Cafe Mozart, especially if you get a table in the small balcony looking out over Front St. There is also a nice live pianist to listen to in the background. The problem with this touristy spot, however, isn't the ambience or nice views. It's the food. My veal wiener shnitzel tasted about the same as an $8 chicken fried steak from Denny's, and my date's roasted duck salad could have been out of a box from Albertson's...and I'm still not convinced the meat really was duck (tasted like salty ham chunks to me) The cheese and bread fondue appetizer was decent, and the waitress came through with a worthy syrah recommendation, but after about 40 minutes we had to move inside when an annoying bee wouldn't stop buzzing around our food. Do yourself a favor: walk 1-1/2 blocks down to MunchenHaus, grab a kielbasa and a pint of Bitburger and people-watch in the outdoor water-misted bar. Your wallet and taste buds will thank me later.

This was recommended to us as one of the best restaurants in Leavenworth - one with a first-class European chef creating real German food. We were nervous at first because the service seemed a little slow. The hostess was very young and did not acknowledge us when we first came in, then shyly seated us in a side room where we waited a little too long for a server. However once the service began we were pleasantly surprised. After we ordered wine and entrees they brought complementary bread and salad. The salad was unusual, a combination plate of several different types of continental garnish - one seemed to be a type of coleslaw, something else seemed to have seafood in it, there was a bit of mixed greens in vinaigrette.... When our entrees came, my husband's pasta was very good. But my steak was out of this world. Tender and red, and the crowning touch was the truffle butter accompanyment. Not just a daub of butter but an entire slab that had so much amazing flavor, this was one of the best dinners I have ever had. If you order steak here you must try the truffle butter. My husband took a bite to try and was jealous, although his pasta was good but my steak was divine. The potatoes Lyonnaise were very nice on the side, and the garnish of champagne grapes was fun and also delicious - bursting with juice. This was the best surprise in town, so much more fabulous than we expected in this town.

  • Tara S.

I ate at Mozart's about 8 years ago and the food made such a great impression that I sought it out again. My memory did not fail me; all the food was excellent!!

Had a great pork jaeger schnitzel and the red cabbage. Wife had the leak and sausage soup. Both were excellent and had fresh hot bread.however the red cabbage was super sweet and by the finish line had become over powering. Other than that it was a nice German lunch.

The service was lacking. Our cheese fondue was really grainy, the bread was stale, and the apples had oxidized. My friend had the pork tenderloin which was super tough and chewy- he could have used a steak knife. I had the sauerbraten which was tender, hence the two star rating.

Food was decent but expensive. The service is HORRIBLE!!!! Slow!!! We had to wait forever for everything, and they weren't that busy. The server kept walking past us even though we were staring at her and had our plates pushed away from us. I will take my money somewhere else next time.

Nice fine dining, leave your kids at home. This is a classy place. Upstairs (not for the faint), decor like something from the White House in DC, the food was delicious. We dined in the veranda, which was very cozy. Beautiful views though. No rush, casual.

sigh, I don't like leaving lack luster reviews.

Mediocre, way over priced and rather small portions. The wienerschilel was okay, had to request the accompiaments three times.

We had a great meal with good service. The portions were generous! We had speedy service which is great since we had our 18 month old with us..
