If you are looking for a unique fresh quality sandwich this is the perfect place. Every sandwich is unique with fresh ingredients. I would highly recommend this place. My favorite sandwich place.

I care deeply about sandwiches, and Independent Sandwich Company exceeded my expectations. Creative menu, nice people, delicious sandwiches. Yes.
(5)Erica C.
Good and flavorful. I always love fancy sandwiches! For a rainy day this was the perfect place for a hot cup of delicious soup and a toasted yummy sandwich! The cheddar broccoli soup has delicious slices of cheddar and an extra dollop of creamy yumminess that added a bit of a pesto twist. I ordered the ginger chicken and had it as a panini. It was spicy enough to add flavor but not enough to make my nose run (always a heat indicator for me lol). I even ate the tomatoes !
(4)Matthew R.
Tried this place for the first time today. Tried the sandwich with pastrami and there turkey with cranberry. Went with my wife and my friend. The service was phenominal and the food was great. Affordable prices and great quality meat. Ask to try there sauces too. The owner only buys the best quality. It's a small and simple menu but hard to decide. Will definitely be too going back to try them all. Have a military discount of 15% so that's always a plus. I think this is the BEST sandwich shop I have ever been to.
(5)Katrina H.
First time here I ordered the Turkey Harvarti Cranberry no lettuce. Bread was so fresh and staff very nice. I wish they had more options of sandwiches only 12 but still awesome.
(5)Randi D.
I got the #10 garlic beef cheddar melt and my husband ordered the #1 turkey havarti cranberry and they were both amazing !! I highly recommend this place! It's different from the normal sandwich shop and has it's own signature sauce ! Broccoli and cheese soup was delicious ! This place is a come see for yourself to see how tasty it is :) the owner was very friendly and had the down to earth personality that you can just hang out and eat with.
(5)Natasha W.
This place was amazing! I was in the mood for a sandwich and I had seen this place before so my husband and I stopped in. I got the Turkey Havarti Cranberry and he got the Southwest Chipotle Chicken. First of all, let me start on the fact that I instantly fell in love with my sandwich by the first bite. I'm not even joking... It was the best sandwich I had ever eaten. I only got a half because I get full pretty quick but I wish I had gotten a whole just so I could have saved it for later. My husband ate his sandwich incredibly fast so you can say he definitely enjoyed it! I seriously wanted to go back to this place the very next day. The cranberry sauce on mine literally made the sandwich amazing. The only thing I wish I would have asked for is for it to be toasted because the sandwich would have been even more amazing warm. We will definitely be making this our regular spot from now on.

I used to live 30 minutes north of Seattle and would regularly run to the U district for the funky atmosphere and usually amazing food. I moved to the area of lakewood about 6 months ago and really missed the fun places I used to frequent. I heard about this place from a friend of mine and decided to stop in. I loved the crazy light tables and of course the sandwich. I had the ginger chicken or #2 and wow I couldn't help myself I ate the whole thing.
(5)Joshua G.
Sits a small shop, but everything I've tried has been delicious. The peanut butter jelly sandwich is weird in a good way. I tried it with bacon and smoked cheddar like recommended and it was pretty tasty. Good start for a new sandwich shop.
(5)Nikki M.
They currently offer 15% discount cards for you to take and keep. Their prices are already amazing and I feel spoiled every time I come in! Fresh flavor fusions and excellent customer service guarantee a customer like me to keep returning for more!! This place rocks!!
(5)Maddy G.
Super great vibe and really nice staff!! Loved the #3 Bacon Avocado Grilled Cheese!
(5)Syn M.
So I went in on a cold rainy day wanting a sandwich & soup combo, after hearing good reviews. Apparently everyone wanted soup that day & ran out of both kinds I wanted. So I ordered a half a habanero pastrami sandwich. I guess their sauce is mixed with cream cheese after letting the two ladies know that she went over and above to grab some base that wasn't mixed which was really nice. The sandwich over all was great, the portion was not so. Literally the smallest sandwich ever. Like a small triangle sized for over $6 that I finished it 3 bites. Overall I don't know if I would go again
(2)Douglas K.
What an awesome sandwich/soup shop. Ate here today for the first time and this place it going to be a hit! I had the Ginger Chicken Sandwich and soup of the day combo, plus a drink for $8....not bad for a filling meal. While there I started chatting with a tattooed up guy that seemed out of place (he ended up being the owner...lol) and we got to chatting about sandwiches. He is definitely all about flavor, quality, and uniqueness. The menu is still in the infant stages, but his vision is awesome. They will create, change, or modify the sandwiches any way you desire....want a lettuce wrap, whole wheat wrap, deli roll, or just plain bread....no problem. Want to swap types of meat or cheese...no worries. This sandwich shop is all about getting good tasting food and you won't be disappointed. The shop is a little small, so I envision crowds once their name gets out, but they do take call-in orders and they deliver. I am a fan!
(5)Juan R.
Amazing sandwiches! Super friendly staff! Great place! Had the Bacon pastrami habanero and it was awesome!!
(5)Vishal R.
Had a sandwich as I drove from Seattle to portland. Nothing great here, keep driving on. Sandwiches sloppy, super slow service, overpriced, terrible ambience (no sound, no plates, no nothing)
(1)Brenda R.
Very delicious sandwiches!! We tried three different sandwiches and they were all very good!! The staff was very polite and friendly!! I will definitely be going back to try some more sandwiches!!
(5)Robyn P.
I came into this sandwich shop after watching a movie and was blown away by the friendly service and excellent food! The owner was super helpful in explaining his menu and I could really tell how proud he was of all his food. I was very impressed by the sauces that he made for his sandwiches. The Chipotle Chicken sandwich wrap was so delicious, with a grilled texture and creamy sauce inside. FIrst time visitors also get 10% off, which was an awesome surprise. The salads were also fresh, plentiful, and tasty. I definitely will be back in the future.
(5)E C.
Very Nice little sandwich shop with good value for the money.
(4)Betsy B.
Very poor customer service! The wait was ridiculous, made even worse by 2 friends of one of the employees, one who garnered the employees time that she should have been spending making sandwhiches and the other who was allowed to give her order without waiting, delaying the orders of 3 military men in uniform. My sandwhich was cold by the time I got back to work and the bread was soogy. Will never waste my time there again!
(1)Stephanie T.
This may be one of my new favorite lunch spots! These people seriously know a good sandwich! Very close to JBLM and very reasonably priced! I had the Hot Ginger Chicken sandwich and the Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Both had tons of flavor! The sandwich had this sweet ginger sauce that really made the sandwich! The owner Aaron said they were in the process of changing the cheese on the sandwich and he let me try it. It was seriously out of this world good, especially if you like a sweet and slightly spicy finish! The soup was also very good! Very thick and creamy with chunks of broccoli and shaved cheddar and the oyster crackers added a nice crunch. The hubby got the a Bacon Pastrami Habanero sandwich. I stole a bite and it was even better than mine! Love the garlic habanero sauce! If you really like spice definitely ask about mixing in some ghost chili sauce. Really gives it a nice kick. We even got a free triple berry cheesecake with our check-in! If you are looking for a nice local chill place to have a light lunch with friends or even if you're just looking to try something outside of the norm this is definitely the place for you! I do feel the need to explain the four stars though. As much as I loved my chicken sandwich I think I would have loved it even more if it was chunks of chicken instead of deli sliced. And as much as I enjoyed the soup I felt it was lacking something...maybe some richness. The staff was very friendly and enthusiastic and you feel like you could be one of their best friends but in all honesty my first impression was that they came off a little too pushy and I was initially a little uncomfortable. The more I talked to them though, the more I really enjoyed my experience. I could totally see myself being a regular here!
(4)Matt G.
I'm glad I came to this place with low expectations. I came in here and was impressed by the selection as well as the customer service. I'm not picky when it comes to anything food wise. I'd suggest if you want anything Deli wise to come here.
(5)Sara F.
GREAT sandwich stop!! Love the fresh bread, juicy deli meats, and the menu combinations. Boyfriend also gets the broccoli cheddar soup (which he raves about). I especially appreciate the homemade cream cheese and other sauces - employees warmly encourage you to sample before you order, and so do I!! They include all sort of special ingredients which add the "X" factor.. lime, anyone? :)
(5)Miranda M.
Love this sandwich shop, it's a small quite shop w/great prices. Every time we come we try something new and I haven't been disappointed there all yummy.
(5)Stephen R.
Well, this is a tough one. - Two and a half stars which I round up to three because there were no serious deficiencies in my experience. - Sandwiches were overall above average (by the way, are panini's still a thing?). - Beware those sauces. Some of them are more successful than others. Ask the staff for their opinions. - Wait time was curiously long. - Soups were very good although my buddy's was quite room temperature. - Nice modern look inside. Very clean. - I wouldn't say this place was expensive, but I did feel I could get better value elsewhere (see below). - Quality (ascending): Subway, MSM's, Indy = Panera, then Hess's (NB, Panera seems to cater to more mainstream palates while Indy is a bit edgier) - Value (ascending) Indy = Panera, Subway = Hess's, then MSM's (I always feel a little ripped off when I go to Panera) - Lasting impression: Not particularly noteworthy in either a positive or negative way. Reminded me of the sandwiches at the ubiquitous airport Wolfgang Puck Express (interpret that as you will). It's nice to have alternatives in Lakewood, but I would not be surprised if this place were out of business in a year.
(3)Zach S.
Yelp offers a 15% check in discount. I paid in cash and asked if it was to late for the discount, she said yes. I was also pushed to join the loyalty club 3 times during my order. It was almost $13 for a sandwich, chips and drink. Got the #7 (bacon pastrami habanero) and it tasted like a sugar sandwich. Showcased bacon in the name and got 2 pieces of bacon that looked and tasted like it came from a TV dinner. The deli meat is probably outsourced from Oscar Meyer. They put so much sauce on the bread that it was soggy. Nothing great about this deli, one could easily make better sandwiches on the hood of their car in the middle of the woods. The best part of this meal were the potato chips and Mountain Dew.
(1)Caleb S.
Delicious food and friendly staff! The price is competitive with subway but the sandmish is 10 times better.
(5)Courtney D.
I was in the area and wanted to find a good sandwich shop for lunch. I went with a group and we ordered the turkey cranberry, the southwest chipotle chicken and one of the other turkey sandwiches. The turkey cranberry was my favorite. Simple and not overpowering. The southwest chipotle chicken was okay but the cheese on the wrap was way too overpowering (strong cheese and lots of it) so it was more like eating a cheese sandwich. The other turkey sandwich was good as well. The place was clean and small but looked like it had seating for about 20-25 people. Te prices were great as well. It was about $4.50 for a half sandwich which isn't bad at all. The staff was nice and pretty quick getting the sandwiches out.
(4)Sara A.
This place is pretty much amazing. We ordered sandwiches and soup. Both were delicious! The service here was outstanding as well. We will definitely be back.

I've been postponing my review for this shop for the past couple months now! Why? Because I fell in love with their sandwiches from the moment I stepped inside and was greeted by the business owner Aaron- who whipped up a sample of all the different sauces they use, the type of bread, and a little about his purpose with a great big smile. I wanted to try out most of them before I finished writing a review for the best sandwich shop ever. Oooh, smiles are so heartwarming especially when it's your first time at a new shop/restaurant and the owner sits there smiling. The other employees so far has been super friendly and attentive to each customer's order. They are even pretty looking c: what a bonus right? As of now, I have tried a bite of my friend's "Turkey Havarti Cranberry" sandwich- the turkey was soft and not too dry, the cranberry infused sauce was made to perfection, it's true that it is #1 for a reason on the menu! My first one however was the "Fresh Italian Pesto", the word 'Pesto' wins me over each time at any food-related joints. If you ask for it to be grilled, it's even tastier! The only downfall is... the salami. As much as I love all the sandwiches I have tried here, I am not too big of a fan on salami because I find it a bit salty BUT I took a couple slices out and it was perfect! I loved it. A couple months ago, I went next door to get my hair done by Maggie~ and they brought over samples of the sandwiches for the clients to try out. Luckily, I got half a sandwich of the Southwest Chipotle Chicken and wow! it was delicious! I wish I had more than half of that sandwich. The most recent one I had tried was the "Hot Ginger Chicken"- just melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting more. But then again, you have to like the ginger-y flavor. I love Garlic and Ginger so it's a bonus for me! So far, these are the ones I want to try next- the "Greek Salad Wrap" and the "Garlic Beef Cheddar Melt" next. Yum. Now, if people stay up to date with my reviews, they know that food isn't the only deciding factor of my stars given to a restaurant. Interior is super duper important only because I have a passion for Interior Design and this place is simple and neat but ~~~ those lights... yup. If you sit up at the counter stools against the windows... it lights up! (a little tip, Aaron says the lights are sensitive to the music beats). I can't wait to try out the whole menu someday.
(5)Ana P.
The food was really good! At first I thought it was going to be too small, but I was mistaken. Great for a quick office lunch break. Service is fast, the people at the counter are helpful and friendly. Next time, I'll upload pics of my meal. Definitely coming back.
(5)Anthony C.
If you haven't had a sandwich here, then you're missing out on life! %20 off for military!!!!!!! God bless them. The first time I came in here I was amazed at the cleanliness and nice modern vibe I got. That's pretty cool to have in Lakewood. Another great point about Indy is that everything is so fresh! All the ingredients and the finest quality. There are so many options to choose from and if you want something custom then tell them and it's yours! Great customer service in a quaint little sandwich shop. The prices are very fair.
(5)Marissa A.
I've driven by this shop many times and finally decided to stop in at 10:58 only to find they were closed. We got about 3 miles away when I called at 11:02 after seeing that they were SUPPOSED to be open at 10:30. A friendly girl answers the phone and says yes, they ARE open and just opened at 11am (so take note the 10:30 opening time on Sunday is wrong!) We made a U-turn and headed back...I was in a very "sandwich kind of mood" today. By the time we park it is now 11:05 and I S*** you not there was already a line of people! Sadly this poor girl was the only employee on the clock (both to take orders and make sandwiches). She got about 8 orders deep before she was able to actually start prepping any of the sandwiches. The menu had a bunch of yummy options, most sandwiches had something to make this place unique. I had the bacon pastrami habanero sandwich to go. About 20 minutes into my wait (still no sandwich in hand) a man rushes in to help her out. He was fast about getting there and quickly manned the cash register so that's a plus, but the lack of a second person on the clock at opening is a little weird? By 30 minutes after ordering I am finally walking out the door with my sandwich and I must say, it was one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time! A little sweet, a little spicy. This place knows the balance between tasty and overpowering when it comes to flavor! A couple things to note - They have one heck of a military discount (20% I think??) and since I was the only "civilian" in a line of about 15 people waiting for food I'm gathering they are well liked by the military residents in the area. They also offer a loyalty type program. They put your name in their system and after 10 sandwiches your next one is 30% off (this program is for everyone, not just military) Sandwiches come in either halves or wholes, they also have soup, chips, soda of course and Italian sodas (which I didn't taste but will next time as I LOVE Italian soda).Their sandwich pricing is reasonable even without the discount at anywhere from $5 for a half to $10 for a whole depending on the sandwich. Mine came to $9.03 for a whole sandwich after tax and it definitely filled me up! The only thing preventing this from a solid 5 star is the time inconsistency and the lack of a second employee when they obviously needed one.
(4)Christine F.
Great little sandwich shop. I got the turkey havarti cranberry + broccoli cheddar soup and it was delicious. Quality ingredients, nice staff.
(5)Matthew B.
Food is good some of the sauces they use in some sandwiches are interesting most a really good the costumer service is great they gave me some free food once because the ran out of smoothie mix military discount is nice all around good experience
(5)Cameron C.
The food was great personally I like stuff a little bit stronger on the flavor side so the number 10 advertised a garlic habanero flavor which was not present also the sandwich sizes seemed a little small a half felt like a quarter. The decor of the place was vary indy and they had cool posters also they ask every person that came to the counter if they were military for a 15 percent off which is nice. I will definitely go back and get a different sandwich and ask them to go overboard on the flavor please
(4)John C.
I simply must give this place five stars, and I've only been here one time; it will NOT be my last! I've actually refrained from eating here because the street signage didn't appear as "independent" as their name suggests. I know that's trite but I'm glad I came in today. I went in at noon and was the second person in line, not a long wait at all. Cute girls working the line? No complaint here! I was advised that they do not even carry mustard or mayonnaise, but that each sandwich has its own special sauce all made in-house. Wheat and white bread and wraps are offered for the carb delivery system. Almost everything in the menu sounds amazing, and the things that don't do not only due to an ingredient that I personally don't like (namely avocado). I went with the bacon pastrami habanero sandwich, and it was amazing! The habanero sauce was absolutely amazing and went perfectly with the other flavors; I couldn't imagine mustard or mayo on this sandwich! Everything was fresh and delicious, the onions were sliced paper thin, the bacon was crisp and crunchy, as was the lettuce. Upon first bite, my eyes closed and I moaned with pleasure; so good! They offer unique flavors of chips as well as fresh hot soup, the latter of which they told me I could ask for samples before I buy. At first I thought the prices were a little high having asked to see examples of the "half" and "whole" size description, but not after eating my sandwich! I will gladly pay a little more for this kind of quality! Stay out of the Subway folks, these are true sandwich artists!! Also, check in with Yelp and get a 15% off first visit discount. Military or retired? They have us covered with a generous 10% discount. Well done guys, well done!!
(5)Brian W.
I ate here while in town on business and the food was great. The gentleman behind the counter (the owner?) was very friendly, and walked us through the menu options. The food was very good, and the service was pretty quick. The layout is a little tight when they are busy, and parking is a little rough. I wasn't too impressed with the cleanliness of the place. The tables needed some cleaning and they could use some more consistent clean-up after each wave of diners. Great little place though. I'd definitely eat here again for a quick, tasty bite.
(4)Emilie M.
Awesome sandwiches! We had the Turkey Cranberry and Hot Ginger Chicken and both were awesome. The prices were great ($6 for 1/2 sandwich and soul) and I could barely decide which to pick the selection was so good. Yummy bread.
(5)Mog V.
My first clue should have been 13 patrons, none eating. We ordered and began to notice that no food was coming out. Finally after 20min one of the couples got their sandwiches. I did the math, at the current speed and with the folks in front of us it would have been close to an hour before we ate. When I asked about this, the young lady explained that she was the only worker in the shop. She was attempting to call in backup, but we just didn't want to invest any more time and we were hungry. We asked for a refund and notices another couple behind us also wanting a refund. More patrons we entering and the hostess did nothing to warn them about the extended wait time. It is a quaint modern facility with comfortable seating, but unfortunately I won't be coming back.
(1)Leah J.
I love this place! Friendly service, amazing sandwiches, nice interior with cool artwork, what more could you ask for? I really want to make it a point to try all their sandwiches but the turkey, cranberry and havarti is just so good that it's hard to get anything else. At first I was hesitant to try it because I was thinking it would be like a "day after thanksgiving" sandwich but it is so much better than I imagined! Love the cool artwork and the friendly atmosphere. They also give military discounts here :) It hasn't been crowded when I've gone but they only had one person working on a Saturday at lunch so the service was kinda slow but a sandwich that good is worth the wait.
(5)Linaya P.
Try the #2 I've never had anything like it. Perfect choice for lunch or dinner. Chill atmosphere. Military friendly. 30% on your 9th visit!!
(5)Jennifer R.
Our go to sandwich place! The sandwiches are always made with near perfection & never ever disappoint us! I love the tomato basil soup they serve & just adore the modern little spot they've got there. We've tried about 3/4 of the menu & every time we are wanting a sandwich, this is the first & only shop that comes to mind! They use to deliver, I wish they would start that again, however I'm just fine with going in! We would go much more if they had a kids menu or the food they have was more kid friendly.
(4)Dean C.
Great place! The girls were awesome and nice and helpful. I had the bacon avocado cheese sandwich with the tomato basil bisque soup (that day's special), and it was delicious. Quality food, epic sandwiches, place has a good bistro feel. Highly recommend this place.
(5)Nelli C.
Great food. Limited vegetarian option. No vegan options, but if you're a meat eater, this place is fabulous. Lots of awesome flavor in cream cheese based spreads. Good flavor combos and a simple menu for you indecisive folk. Just go.
(5)Leon G.
This place is awesome! They make their own sauce for their sandwiches (that is super delish great). The service was outstanding, they are polite and enthusiastic about the food they prepare. They offer a military discount whether you are in uniform or not (bonus). They have really good fresh soups as well. You have to try it out, you won't be disappointed!
(5)Jen B.
This is a wonderful place to eat - every one who works here is friendly & welcoming! The food is really good and made with real ingredients! I enjoy coming here !
(5)Riannon M.
Delicious! There aren't many little delis around here anymore but this is a super cute place that serves great food. Pretty much all of their sandwiches are great so you can't go wrong. Love how they wrap their sandwiches in old newspaper- cool little touch.
(5)Donna S.
Disgusting. I'm sorry, but it was terrible. 1. They serve Pepsi 2. So much cream cheese on the sandwich I couldn't eat it, gross! 3. Broccoli cheddar soup not good Hated it!
(1)Mary R.
If you have crazy taste buds this is your place. Stopped in today on my lunch break and was greeted by the owner. He is a cool guy and was very happy to discuss different items and even gave me a free sample of pastrami. Very impressed with the offered menu items. I had a #7 pastrami bacon habanero and a cup of tomato bisque. The garlic habanero sauce was the best part. Literally have no complaints. Reasonably priced for the quality, Delicious, cool decor, They offer Military discount and have great customer service. Will be back to try the rest of the menu!
(5)Justine P.
Freaking delicious! Best sandwich I've had in a long time. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and I'm glad I did! The bacon avacado sandwich was so good! Definitely will be going back!
(5)PJ B.
Top notch. It's impossible to find something poor on the menu. They have a great combo deal. $11.99 gets a full sandwich, chips, drink, and an unreal chocolate chunk cookie.
(5)Nicholas W.
The quality of the sandwiches is always top quality. Ordering ahead is fast and easy, plus they have a military discount! Triple whammy.
(5)James P.
Great sandwich, I had the #10 Beef & Cheddar (wish I had added Bacon) I really like their Garlic sauce! Very tasty!
(4)Tom C.
If you're anywhere within at least 10 miles of this restaurant I guarantee you will not find a better sandwich anywhere close to here. I've been here 4 times now. Each time I've tried a different sandwich, and they were all excellent. There aren't many privately owned sandwich joints in the area so this place doesn't have a whole lot of competition other than ordinary sandwich chains... that being said, the prices are very reasonable considering the high quality ingredients they use. If you want both a delicious and healthy meal then you will find it here. This is a veteran-owned small business. The owner is awesome and he offers a military discount whether you're in uniform or not. The same discount applies to military dependents. They also deliver for free. I'm not sure what the radius is, but it's free.
(5)Travis P.
Fresh and hot sandwich. Took a while to get our two half sandwiches, but it was very good! Friendly and helpful staff as well!
(4)Marcus P.
Great food and decent prices. I haven't found a sandwich I don't like from here. The wait times for the food can be a little long though so only go if you have a bit of time.
(4)Jill N.
Found some reviews and gave this place a shot. I'm glad I did because my Pastrami Bacon Lime sandwich was amazing!!! The owner was talkative and even let me taste the ham while I waited for my sandwich. I also got 15% off for life! ONLY downside? I forgot to check in and get my free cheesecake. Guess I'll have to lunch again :)
(5)Daniel H.
Took over 20 minutes to get a sandwich after I ordered. Only one other couple in the place. The girl behind the counter was too busy flirting with her boyfriend to bring the food out. Never coming back.
(1)Wayne L.
I haven't had a sandwich I didn't like yet. Always clean inside and the staff is very friendly. If you're looking for a sandwich shop you must come here.
(5)Kristina G.
Well, to start, I really wish I had enjoyed my experience with this place. It's close to my job and as a small business, I'm all for supporting other small, local businesses in their success. A few of my coworkers and I ordered lunch to go today. We ordered a turkey havarti cranberry, a hot ginger chicken and a bacon avocado grilled cheese. All sound great right? We thought that too. However, when I bit into my turkey sandwich, I was greeted with the not so great taste of a long, black hair. YUM, right? I think not. To go along with this, random things were thrown onto all 3 sandwiches that weren't listed on the menu - tomato and lettuce on the bacon avocado grilled cheese, and a rabbit sized serving of lettuce on the chicken sandwich. The hot ginger chicken sandwich also was missing it's cheese, and the bacon avocado grilled cheese was more toasted than grilled....hmph. Ok, so back to the fact there was a HAIR IN MY SANDWICH. We called the company back and told them, and said that we were bringing that, and the grilled cheese back. When we did, the girl whose hair it was apologized for the happening, but the question still is....why was your hair down...when you work in the food industry...????? So they remade the sandwiches we brought back, which was cool or whatever, but I asked if it'd be possible that they gave us maybe a free cheesecake for the fact that 70% of my order was wrong and I had to drive back to get it corrected...NOPE. Which was not only rude, but I'm aware of the fact that if you go to Independent Sandwich Company and tell them you're their Facebook friend, you'll get a free cheesecake...so I can do nothing, and get a cheesecake, but they can't use them to make up for my dissapointment and wasted time? Unimpressed. ***UPDATE*** Just found a long black hair in my remade #2 Bacon, avacado grilled cheese...the same long black hair in the first one....if negative stars were possible, you can bet that'd be my rating. I kind of want to cry right now.
(1)Joseph K.
Every time I've been here the service is excellent. The employees are always cheerful and very informative.
(4)Kyle F.
My second time here. I brought a friend this time because I was so impressed by my first visit. I ordered a pastrami bacon habanero sandwich and frappe with caramel. My sandwich came out quickly and was delicious. All the different flavors fuse perfectly together and the ingredients are top notch. The owner got wrapped up in a friendly conversation with another patron and forgot to make my frappe, but when I brought it up to the woman behind the counter, the owner was very apologetic. I told him it was not a big deal. I get distracted sometimes too. The owner made it up to me by giving me a free cheesecake with whipped cream and bacon on it. Wow. Never thought of adding bacon to cheesecake, but it works! The frappe was also amazing. So flavorful. Wish I had another right now. I'll be coming back to this place over and over again for sure. There's more sandwiches to try!

I got the southwest chipotle sandwich and it took no time at all for the very nice ladies to make it. It was delicious. Will definitely be back! Thank you indy sandwich co!

Okay, first, the decor and vibe is worth the visit! Second, the sandwich selection is very unique! Today I'm enjoying a spicy ginger mango chicken sandwich. AND, it's actually spicy! They use a specialty sauce that's so good! Lastly, the first time I was in here they were playing 80s punk. Today they are playing rock blues. Those might not be to your liking but to me it's a bonus! You'll enjoy the place, trust me!

This sandwich shop proves itself as more than a sandwich shop the moment you walk in the door. You are greeted with the greatest hospitality and automatically feel comfortable. The menu has plenty of unique options of sandwiches and soups to keep you coming back many times. The results of quality and time put in to making the sandwiches exceed any other restaurants in the area. Food is amazing and unique. I highly recommend this place!

Horrible customer service. The only reason I left two stars was because the sandwich was decent.

I really wanted to love this place because of the amazing reviews and great discount but what I had was not great. I had the garlic beef chedder melt on a spinach wrap and the broccoli chedder soup. Ok let's start with the wrap. 1. Menu says it has grilled onions and peppers it had non but the raw kind. 2. Garlic habanero sauce was replaced with some sweet mayo type sauce. It tasted like miricle whip. 3. Had no cheese on, swear I was looking and nada. 4. Roast beef was a thin layer the rest was filled with the veggies. If I wanted a veggie wrap that's what I would have ordered. Now the soup. It was good no complaints there. Really great flavor, chunks of broccoli which I like topped with chedder. Maybe that's were they but my cheese haha. Anyway would not be wasting my time here again. I would have over looked if it was missing one of the menu items but 4 out of the 6 ingredients it was supposed to have. No thanks!

What a find! These folks know how to make a sandwich. The ingredients are so very fresh. The bread is soft and yummy on it's own. Substituting does not pose a problem. Have your sandwich your way!

Very disappointing. They had a shop full of customers that hadn't gotten their food. Only two workers and they weren't extremely attentive. The food was okay, but it took over 25 minutes to get our sandwiches and then they weren't how we orders them. Will not be returning here.

This my favorite spot to get a sandwich ! It's never too busy. Quick to order but since there's usually only one person working it's usually takes 5-7 minutes for the sandwich but it's totally worth it!!

We love INDY. Owner and workers are awesome! I wish they brought back their delivery system though. It was so convenient when I couldn't leave during lunch hour. Other than that, they're awesome!

If you are a sandwich person and you haven't visited the Indy sandwich company yet you are doing something wrong! First off, I am a serious foodie and second off I LOVE a good sandwich. And let me tell you I have yet to be disappointed at the Indy sandwich company. The ingredients are fresh and unique and the combinations are delicious. I've tried the garlic beef cheddar which was amazing, the hot ginger chicken which is great, and a few others and I have yet to dislike one. Seriously, come try this place and I doubt you will be disappointed!!! :)

AMAZING!!! Such great and interesting sandwiches and wonderful welcoming environment! I had the #8 Greek wrap and I added chicken. So yummy, not to heavy, but filling. The owner is very active and involved with each customer and their order which I loved. If your looking for the perfect lunch COME HERE!!!!!

Great tasting sandwiches and soup. I like the number 1 Turkey with the Tomato soup. Get the combo to save a bit. My husband felt the sandwich size was too small. We both expected larger portions for the price. That being said, the price fits the quality of these terrific tasting sandwiches. So if your in the mood to spend a bit more for the quality - go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Was in the area for work and looking for a good sandwich. I ordered the turkey, cranberry, harvarti. Great sandwich. Would definitely return.

Excellent sandwiches! I had the pesto #4 and my boyfriend had the pork lime #5. Next time we both decided we'd go for the whole sandwich instead of just half. The spreads and the bread were my favorite part. Also had the fiesta chicken soup. I thought it was pretty good, my boyfriend thought it was great! So happy to have this place in Lakewood...I see myself returning soon, with the girls from the office.

The wife and I stopped by after seeing a movie this afternoon. We always like to support local businesses and this place came up in a random Yelp search for sandwich shops. At first we thought Yelp was recommending the sub shop farther down Bridgeport and across from St. Claire's. But we were pretty sure they were closed on Sundays. Be warned, if you are not careful, you will drive right by this place. If you do however catch a glimpse of this almost hidden gem, you are in for a treat. There are about ten set sandwich combinations on the menu, but substitutions are allowed. My wife had the Fresh Italian Pesto and I had the Grilled Turkey, Ham, Cheddar. Warning, this isn't your normal sandwich shop. The owner believes in a more healthier sandwich, meaning he does not use mayo. While some will scream heresy, we actually found his homemade spreads to be a wonderful, tasty alternative to the normal mustard and mayo. The spreads are tailored so that the ingredients and the bun are enhanced, instead of being drowned out. Both sandwiches were extremely flavorful and packed with super fresh produce, meats and cheeses. The proportions are not large, as again the owner is focusing more on a healthier version. But the quality and care in which the sandwiches are made is worth the price.

This place has amazing sandwiches. I just had their garlic beef cheddar melt and the garlic habanero sauce is so flavorful. Perfect blend of spicy and tinge of sweetness. The roast beef wasn't dry or hard to chew. It was tender and meaty. The cherry on top of course is the 15% military discount. I highly recommend this place.

This sandwich shop is anything but your run of the mill sub and chips place. I had the Bacon Pastrami Habanero sandwich. It had such a unique sweet and spicy flavor. Their sauces are what sets them apart. I also had the basil tomato soup and it was a perfect addition. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and lite lunch.

I am sure that e sandwiches are fresh and wonderful. .however, I wouldn't know. I have been waiting for a half hour and watching other people who came in later get their food before me. A half hour for one sandwich. There goes my lunch break

As a sandwich lover, I am happy to say Lakewood has landed a gem of a sandwich shop. I love MSM Deli in Tacoma and happy to see I have an option closer that provides such an amazing sandwich. Aaron the owner has a great passion and clearly uses high quality ingredients. My sandwich was packed full of complementary flavors. I will certainly be back to work my way through several of his interesting creations.

Tried the number 7 today. Pastrami with Habanero. My goodness! Outta this @$!#/^& world! 5 stars. "I'll be back" xD

Came in 5 minutes before close and they told me they were closed. I got nothing else just this place closed earlier than what the sign said

Sandwiches are mediocre at best. Salty and bland.
(1)Kimberly M.
Tasty but over priced. About $9 for a full sized sandwich. They were very fast with making the order.

Haven't had it in a while because I don't live in the area. It's a good stop on my way up north.

I LOVE this sandwich shop! the owner is so nice and accommodating. I had the broccoli cheddar soup and turkey havarti sandwich - SO GOOD! the friend I went with has quite a few dietary restrictions (no gluten, no starch, no dairy) and she was able to have a full meal with no problems! they substituted the cheese in her sandwich for extra meat at no charge AND they used lettuce instead of bread! they even let her read all the nutrition labels on the bottles to be sure she didn't eat anything she wasn't interested in having in her food! the prices are great too! it was such a great experience and we will definitely be back!

With Panera just around the corner; I was hesitant to try this spot until my husband forced it upon me. My goodness, it is delicious! Can't go wrong with a #1 or #10. My husband loves the #12. This place also offers military discount with ID or if you're in uniform. Friendly service too!

AWESOME Sandwich Shop. This a must try; the ingredients are tasty, the service is friendly, and ambience is good. For those who are wanting a different experience than that offered by the chain sandwich places, The Independent Sandwich Company is a must. Today I had the Southwest Chipotle Chicken and the Tomato Bisque Soup...yummy. I'll be back.

Went with my co workers and everyone loved it. The staff was super friendly! The atmosphere was comfy and hip. The food was good, freshness is the main thing.Noticed. I got the turkey cranberry and it was good but to sweet for my taste. That's the only reason I couldn't give all 5 stars. The tomato bisque is full if flavor and not too expensive. Would love to see menu expanded a little with items minus the bacon.
