My parents and I thought we'd try a new restaurant and branch out. The Tofu Hut was great! Our server was knowledgeable and attentive but not overly so. But the food.... Omg, the food! We got the potstickers steamed as an appetizer, the Japchae noodles, bul-go-gi, and pineapple curry fried rice. So yummy! All of it was great. I'm used to authentic Korean food and this is the closest I've found in Olympia. Even my mom, who hates tofu, loved the tofu in the pineapple curry fried rice! I'd say you should definitely give this restaurant a try! You might see us there trying more dishes!

We dropped by this establishment after a long afternoon at the Hands On Children's Museum and the Oly Farmers Market. Spouse had a hankering for Korean so this is what we found in pleasant Lacey, WA. Very yummy Asian "fusion" dishes -- just don't go in there expecting authentic Korean Jjigae or Japanese staples. On the other hand, friendly and attentive service at the Tofu Hut. You're not going to get a lot of wide smiles at an authentic Korean restaurant. ;-) This is not a five star rating only because of the slightly higher prices for the quality -- you'll pay $10 dollars in Lacey for a $8.5 entree in Lynnwood/Edmonds/Shoreline/FederalWy. I'd still go back there though, in a pinch.
(4)Alice J.
Absolutely authentic Asian fusion dishes with a delicious array of vegan yumminess. The service was cozy like that of a ma & pa restaurant. The owners are very kind too, I believe she cooks in the back. The price may be a bit pricey but you're also paying for excellent service and authenticity as well as food. I'm definitely coming back here when I'm in the vicinity! :)

I normally wouldn't stop for a place that had tofu in the name, as I do like the mammal flesh, unless I was with Mara. Then that is the first place we'd stop. I know a place can't survive just on tofu (no one really can). Inside is not really fancy and they have outdoor seating which is nice. I had the charbroiled chicken and veggie plate with adding brown rice for a dollar more. Yummy. Big plate and I couldn't eat all the rice. Good place to stop while in the area.

If there was less than one start I would give them that... Told the waitress we had 4 adults and 2 children... The waitress said they didn't have room and it would be an hour wait. They had two tables with total of 8 seats available and could have pushed together. Really would have liked to try their food as it smelled good.

Love love love it! My bf and I came here after working an event on JBLM. We shared the spring rolls, some kind of soup and then some green tea mochi at the end. All was amazing!!! And so cheap! Def. a new favorite for us
(5)Nicole R.
Delicious and some lovely gluten-free options. The Japchae is amazing, the sweet potato noodles are so good I have a hard time convincing myself to try other things. The fresh spring rolls are very tasty, they could even make a tofu lover out of me! (They also have plenty of meat options, don't be fooled by the name) I love that they usually have gluten free cupcakes available too.

I've been going to Tofu Hut for years and the quality of food and service has had its highs and lows. On my last visit the food wasn't as good as usual. However, I took a friend to dinner there last night and the food and service were both superb. The waitress was very attentive. In the past they served some foods on small hot plates but now they've switched to big white plates. The servings are larger and therefore the prices more appropriate. We had the V8 Delights and the Pineapple curry rice and they were delicious.

CON: Price! It's expensive. I've eaten here 3 times now. The reason I am giving it only 2 stars is that as the 2 stars say "Meh, I've experienced better" & the 3 stars is "A-ok" which I don't agree on. I kind of wish there was something in the middle. To begin with "BEST in state" is a huge over-sell. Who judged that? Against what??? Other tofu places? Mmm...not sure. I ordered the pot stickers all 3 times & LOVED them, made perfect, not too soft, not burnt & you get a LOT of them. I've never seen an order of pot stickers come out on a long plate with so many. It was $6.50. And I've also only ordered the Kalbi, Korean style beef short ribs, they are very good, all 3 times BUT for me the biggest draw back is the price, they are $18.00!!! I mean that is super expensive, & you don't get that many of them. And you only get miso soup & rice, for $18? If you get an entry at other restaurants you usually get a side (veggies or potato), salad, etc. A tiny bowl of miso soup isn't going to stave that hunger. My friend who went with me the first time ordered one of the salads & complained that it wasn't that good, bland & for the price she'd had better & won't be back. The other 2 times I went with a good friend who does like their Yakisoba. But BEST in state, not so much. So for me it's "meh" & other than the pot stickers for the price you don't get much. The portions are small-ish. And there isn't much seating. I never used the restroom, but if it really is out back, then that is another negative in my book!
(2)Chris R.
You won't regret experimenting from this eclectic menu. They care about their food in both quality & taste. Don't let the beaten down porch with the plastic banner hanging from the railing dissuade you from entering. There is something tasty & yummy for you inside.
(5)Samantha L.
Use to go to place all the time when I use to live in Lacey. Went here again with my Mom and its just as good as I remember. We got crab rolls, kalbi, and phad thai. Everything was good. The service was pleasant. I think the prices have gone up since I use to come here, so I think they're a little pricy now.
(4)Yvonne K.
I really like the food here. True, some of it is bland, however, it's tofu. Which is kind of bland. I have gone here twice, the first time I got the drunken love noodles which was lovely, the Korean noodles on special which tastes like my Korean ex's moms, and fried tofu. Then I came back. Mainly for the fried tofu. They don't heavily salt it but they do provide salt upon request which I like. I had the tofu bibimbap which I enjoyed as well. Is the price high? A bit, especially since I know the price of tofu, but for a date night with the husband or something like that, I'd definitely go here again.
(4)Camille B.
The food was great, waitress was timely and the booths were clean. I would definitely go back to try other meals!
(4)Pearl W.
Love the spring rolls here! The Korean food, however, comes in small portions and you have to pay for your side dishes.
(3)Kelli S.
This place was expensive for what you got and the food was bland. My noodled in the noodle salad were so stuck together you couldn't get them apart. In addition the spring rolls were falling apart and tofu after I asked for anything but tofu. Not impressed at all. I was originally excited by all other claims to Best of Olympia but I didn't find anything that would warrant a title like this.
(2)Tim K.
This is a good place. I found the food of good quality and tasty. They have meat plates also.
(4)Derek G.
Food was OK. Kinda bland to be honest and nothing worth writing home about. Service was awkward, and my server rolled her eyes when I asked for a fork to eat my meal (you have to ask for forks here, and endure the eye roll). Parking was very limited at dinner time. (Had to park in another establishment's lot) So-so place, nothing special in my book and cost was above average. I'd give them another shot but I'm in no hurry to return.
(2)Mara C.
Food wasn't good at all. I remember the first time I ate there several years ago wasn't bad at all. Recently, the noodles that I had were undercooked and the beef was really chewy.
(1)Anna C.
I've never gone to the Tofu Hut because I am a carnivore ;) but one day decided to give it a try. The service was excellent. We had the potstickers (which you can order fried or steamed), pad Thai, and the Mrs. Kim rice bowl. It was all very tasty. My husband orders the spice level at a two so I could eat and it as spicer than normal but that's the only issue.
(4)Josh B.
I went into Tofu Hut with big expectations. Most of my friends had said Tofu Hut was good and in a way made me think that it was out of this world. And as Pirh Z mentioned the sign outside stating that it's the best restaurant in Olympia gives the impression that is will be just that....The Best. Understandably, they've been voted the best for 2011 and 2013, but by what source I'm unsure. I went with a friend and upon entering the hut, I thought that this would be a quaint experience. It's not overly decorated and has windows all around to give a view of outside. The view isn't overwhelming but at least you're not looking at a wall or something. I ordered the Yakisoba and my friend a simple fried rice. My friend is kind of picky anyway so she had a few scoops of the rice and was over it. It was a bit too oily for her and less fried. My Yakisoba was dry as all hell. I mean I have had Yakisoba before and it's a little dry but I went through a bit of water to assist. I also agree with Chris L. The flavor was very bland and lacking in overall flavor. It appeared that the vegetables were just tossed in a bit of oil and then served sizzling under the yakisoba, but with no spice or flavor. It was like eating dry chow mein noodles with cabbage and carrots. There weren't any additional condiments. I could have taken some sriracha or a bit of hoisin or spicy mustard even. I had a coupon from Groupon and I wish I had not forgotten it because although the prices were very inexpensive (go figure), I really wish I hadn't paid what I did for it. It was very basic and with no flair at all. Yes, the server was very nice and accommodating. I believe I ordered and appetizer that they were out of and she apologized and offered other options. It wasn't that populated in there on a weekend afternoon in the summer. I believe the bathroom is outside in the back which is kind of odd but the hut is really small as it is, so I guess that it only makes sense to have the bathroom outside. I have two other coupons to use here, but I won't be going back. Maybe this place is "the best" because of all the vegan/vegetarian options and it's very inexpensive with a moderately decent portion. I just don't think it was "the best" place for me.
(3)Annie L.
Excellent all the way around. Love that mostly everything on the menu can be customized to a vegan or vegetarian diet. I had the pineapple curry rice (vegan) and it was very tasty. My BF had the yakisoba with chicken and he enjoyed it. He commented that the chicken in it was fantastic. They don't seem to drown food in sauces here, which is great. The portion sizes were filling. The place is small and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Our server was the only one there but we didn't feel neglected in anyway. Prices were reasonable we paid about 30.00 for 2 entrees and an appetizer.
(5)Derya S.
Me and my friend had high hopes for this place, but not everything was as expected. The dumplings been.quite blend, the bolgogi so so. We thought we came lunch time, but when we received the bill it was normal prices. I paid almost $50 for a so so meal. And the vegan cupcakes been a let down, our vanilla lime cupcake been not fully baked and there went $10 down the drain.
(3)Sarah C.
They truly live up to their name! This is the best tofu I have ever had in the Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater vicinity. I highly suggest that any tofu lovers that haven't moseyed into this place, do. I'm salivating just thinking about their tofu fried rice and edamame. This is tofu heaven.
(5)Dean S.
My wife went to this place of business after being told it was the best Korean restaurant in town. Nice clean restaurant. Restrooms located out of the main dinning room and outdoors. No heaters noticed of it gets cold it could be brutal. I ordered a traditional spicy pork meal and had to order Kimchi as a extra order. New experience. Other places just down the street include Kimchi for free. Wife ordered the Korean stew, her sides came for free despite her meal costing less than mine. The kimchi tasted fresh and home made. I know what the Kimichi tastes like from the local market and this was different while refreshing. The spiced pork arrived and was tasty. However, the local Korean restaurants down the street have larger portions during lunch and the Kimchi is free. The Korean stew was excellent, in what I thought, but the wife thought it was under spiced. Being a home cook in Korean dishes I asked her what she meant since she ordered a spice level of 2 out of 5. She stated that dish was just a "little bland" without the spices being included. In the end, the staff was quick and helpful. The spicy pork was great but wasn't as large as the other two down the street place. If i had my choice I would go to the other two restaurant than here. However, they did excel in their Korean stew, in my taste test.
(2)Shezza W.
Tofu Hut is amazing! From what I could see the menu encompassed Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, and Chinese. There is plenty of tofu, but fish and other meat are listed on the menu for those who do not maintain a vegetarian diet. There was plenty of food on the plate; enough to fill me up and still have some left over to box up for the next day (something I love). For $9, that's not bad!
(5)Rachel H.
We went for dinner when we were staying at the Ramada Inn. The food was amazing, the service was great, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and it was a great dinner. I ordered the tofu fried rice and it was just as amazing the second day it was when it was freshly made. Relatively large portions, too. The price was very fair for such delicious food.
(5)Courtney S.
Great local spot for lunch with a variety of tasty Asian dishes. Nice ambience. Great service and more than just tofu! Be sure to save room for a bearded lady cupcake!
(4)Joey W.
Visited for lunch a couple weeks back. The tofu stew (with chicken) was excellent. The service unfortunately was not. Definitely will be going back.
(4)Su N.
I dont know how this place has 4 stars. The price is expensive and the food is not that good.It is a small and lovely place but not worth the 2nd time for me though :(
(2)Carmie L.
Poor value. I ordered a bowl of rice, veggies, and tofu. It was extremely bland on its own, but mixed with some sauce it was fine. The texture of the rice was too sticky. I could have made a better version of this dish at home for less than the $13 I spent for lunch. The restaurant was nice. The waitress was nice enough, but the way she looked at me made me uncomfortable. I would not go back exclusively because I could take my $13 to a number of other establishments* and have a magnificent, magical feast. The value wasn't there for me. *Like Bread Peddler, where you can go nuts for $13. I could have gotten two of their fabulous sandwiches, or a croque and dessert, or soup and a loaf of bread and a pastry.
(2)Rachel A.
Tofu Hut is a reasonably tasty place that offers a mix of thai and Korean dishes. While it's not the cheapest, portions are huge and my serving of tasty pad thai was enough for two lunches. It has a sort of cute interior, with cozy booths, and also serves surprising things like vegan cupcakes. Since there are many vegetarian options on the menu, I'm sure I'll try Tofu Hut again while I'm working in Lacey.
(3)Erin R.
Amazing food for vegans and carnivores alike. Even people who are not tofu fans in my family love the fried tofu here!
(4)Pirh Z.
We are fond of referring to this place as "Tofu Butt." Don't expect to eat here on your lunch break. They usually have one server for the whole place. A lot of the dishes are bland. The fresh tofu is, of course, good, but any and all fresh tofu is good. Also, the sign proclaiming it the "best restaurant in Olympia" frustrates me considering their street address. Spring rolls are much better elsewhere... in Olympia. I've never eaten the meat dishes, so it's possible they just make really awful vegetarian/vegan dishes. But considering they have delicious fresh tofu, I can't really give them a break for not knowing what to do with their own product.
(2)Jason H.
what can i say??? flew all the way down from AK to eat here again! ok, i really came home for a week. but i definitely made time to eat at the Tofu Hut. Soo, as always, goes out of her way to make sure everything is fresh and tasty. most definitely this is the place to eat if you're down in Oly. make your way there, you won't be disappointed!
(5)Sarah M.
Tofu hut is simply amazing. Clean, good food, great atmosphere. Vegan and vegetarian options too! I recommend the drunken noodles or the pad Thai. Always start off with her fried tofu appetizer. So good!
(5)Kalia A.
This is my moms favorite restaurant! At first I was little bit weary because the name implied that only Tofu was served here, but I quickly discovered on my weekly dinner with my mom, that they have much more than Tofu. I love the Pad Thai and the servers usually are really good and have began to know us. When I leave Tofu Hut I never feel bad about what I eat the food is not greasy or nasty it is a good clean alternative to the usual greasy Asian food I have had elsewhere. Recommend.
(4)Luwi M.
Came here twice and I must say that both times were pleasant experience. I had kimchi soon du bu and katsu don. Both were good, but I noticed they didn't put any onions in my katsu don. I love my onions. The whole dish would be more flavorful with them in it, but oh well...not the end of the world. Will come back soon and can't wait to try different things. Servers are friendly.
(4)Karen V.
As somebody who is new to a vegan diet I love the Tofu Hut more than I did when I was omnivore (it was good then). Fried tofu is really good and the Mrs. Kim Bibimbap was so filling and tasty. Finished off the meal with a Vanilla Lavender cupcake from the Bearded Lady Food Company. I am giving them 5 stars because the servers are so friendly and know the menu so well. That is so rare these days.
(5)Tera S.
Awesome place for tofu. Very nice, clean environment. A bit pricey but a decent size portion. Very nice and helpful waiter. I would definitely go back there again!
(4)Olystacy B.
I went to this restaurant for the first time with my sister last week. We sat out on the back patio, which was very nice, as it provided shade on a very hot day but still allowed us some fresh air. The only issue with sitting back there as it was sometimes sensory overload as they have wind chimes that are VERY VERY loud and it often interrupted our conversation. The service was fairly attentive, there were a few lags when we wouldnt see our server for long stretches of time but over all the service was ok. The guy was very friendly and knew the menu well. I was going to order the chicken plate until I was told that it costs 2.00 extra to have chicken breast instead of thigh. What??!??! The entree was already 14.00 - and you need to add 2.00 to that for chicken breast instead of a thigh? This seemed a bit pricey to me and I therefore changed my order. I had the mrs. kimblibomap or something like that. It was very very very good and seemed quite healthy. My sister had fried tofu and I tried it and really liked it too. We also had edamame and spring rolls for appetizers....I am hooked on edamame now and crave it! The spring roll was delicious as was the peanut sauce. I really liked the food but felt it was very expensive for what it actually is. I mean tofu nor chicken doesnt cost that much. ANd the servings arent such where you have a lot left over to eat the next day. I think I would come here only if I had a coupon or special because of the high prices.
(4)S P.
The dishes I liked here, I loved. We got everything vegan and here's what I would get again and again: Veggie Potstickers Peanut sauce for the fresh spring rolls- great to put on everything, I would buy a jar of it if I could. Famous Katsu-don (rice dish) The sides are insanely delich, best kimchi I've had. And probably wouldn't get these again: Korean Japchae- kinda bland Tokyo Yakisoba- better than the Japchae but I would try other dishes before I go to this. I really hated the tofu stew. The broth was way too bland and I learned silken tofu (in this dish specifically) is not good eats. I think the rice dishes are the way to go.
(5)Casey D.
After driving by this place for many years I finally stopped in. Took me long enough, as I love Asian food and tofu. I really wanted to be wowed by the flavors but the main dishes we had were not very memorable. The curry rice was kind of basic, tasted like it needed salt or something else to give make it more interesting. Meat, potatoes, onions, rice and sauce. Agedashi Tofu Udon was better in my opinion, but did not stand out compared to other similar dishes I've had before. I liked the Inari Sushi which was like sushi rice plus some other flavors inside a little pocket. Kimchi side was good. Pot stickers were pretty good. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things?...I don't know maybe I should try something totally different there next time. I feel like I should give them another chance. But then again there are some good Thai and Korean restaurants in the area vying for my business...
(3)Justin K.
Take a but longer to get the food than I would normally like but they were busy and once I got the food it was fresh and hot plus it tasted great so it more than made up for it. The people were very nice too. I will go back.
(5)Kari T.
My daughters and I are So glad we got over the name of this place and finally made a point to stop by. (We used to joke with my husband that we were gong to take him to "Tofu Hut" for his birthday...because he was traumatized by a tofu burger as a child ;) You can imagine our elation when we found that a Tofu Hut really does exist, and its here, close to us! As of now, we're not vegetarians and we usually only eat tofu when it's in our Miso soup. This place serves meat dishes as well as a wide variety of Vegan & Vegetarian dishes! They've won awards for being the best restaurant, with the friendliest servers in Olympia...even though they're in Lacey ;) And it's REALLY really good. I was so excited to have found a place that makes a Korean JapChae! Hadn't had it since I was a teenager 'cause I didn't know what it was called. The waitress was more than happy to help me with all of my questions. (sorry, I don't remember her name) We're excited to go back & try more from their menu.
(4)Brian D.
I had the tofu yakisoba and my wife had the china town salad. She was less than thrilled with her salad, while my yakisoba was adequate; not fantastic, not bad, just average. Better options for sure in the Lacey/Oly area.
(2)Pasha N.
I usually get the Seafood Tofu Stew (Soon Doo Boo) and get it extra spicy. Friends usually order the appetizer combos and they really do a good job with both presentation and flavor. yum. One thing with the Seafood Tofu Stew is that they offer you side dishes (banchan) or an alternative (which I forget now)...Go for the side dishes, as you get free "refills" on them and they are really tasty. If you like your food really spicy (like past the standard 5 stars), they have a spicy powder in the back that they don't mention to customers unless you ask for it specifically. Its potent.
(4)Laura M.
Bimbibap, Viet garden bowl, fresh spring rolls for dinner tonight. Absolutely delicious, as usual. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Olympia area!
(5)Vincent P.
I've been going to Tofu Hut for quite awhile now and must say it has one of the best vegetarian/vegan menus in the Olympia area. Locate in a quaint little mobile home the restaurant is clean and the staff friendly and attentive. Prices are also very reasonable. Be sure to arrive early for lunch because it can get very busy. I've tried pretty much everything on the menu include some non vegetarian items and they are all very tasty. Some of my favs are the Mrs. Kim's Bibimbap and the Kimchi Stew. Their Bangkok Phad Thai may be the best Phad Thai I've had. If you bring a group of people check out their appetizers. I recommend the Flash Crab Rolls and the Pot Stickers which are also available to go and make great munchies if you're throwing a party. Homemade Kimchi is also available by the galloon! So, pick some up.
(5)christina g.
I took my vegan friend here and she loved it...yay! Food to me was ok, I had some noodles. The dessert however...I had a vegan Strawberry Cupcake and OMG it was by far the BEST cupcake Ive ever had!! They dont always have it though, a local bakery makes and delivers random desserts to this restaurant so its not the same every day. They also serve Asian beers, wines and sake.
(4)Zap R.
We arrive at 7:55 and were told that they stop serving food at 8... which is odd since their hours say they are open until 8:30. So we decided to get takeout instead. The service made us feel like we were in the way (their maître de station is next to their prep area) and we had to wait until almost 8:30 to get our food. And while I do appreciate having a nice vegan restaurant in the area (even if there are a multitude to choose from), when you put a sign outside that says, "WE SERVE MEAT!" it is a bit pretentious to frown down on your customers for ordering said meat. :) My wife had the Pad Thai and I had a beef and green onion dish. The food was okay but I guess we didn't really order their standard fare. It's like reviewing a Chinese restaurant when you order a cheeseburger. I think we would have a similar dining experience from the generic Chinese restaurant you can find at most strip malls. And for all those reviews you read about their AMAZING cupcakes... they don't make them. They are from a local bakery downtown called the Bearded Lady. Now that's a place worth checking out...
(2)Joel O.
Great service, fast and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and the menu has a much wider selection than we expected. Their children's menu had some unique offerings that my toddler enjoyed. We will certainly be regulars.
(4)Bruce W.
Delicious food every time. Great prices, friendly staff, and Sue the owner is doing a great job.
(4)Yuri S.
Sadly the last several times over many months I've been to Tofu Hut it has declined each time in quality and flavor. Each time I hoped it was just the day I was there. Unfortunately this seems to not be true. The phad thai I raved about in my first review has become worse with each visit and has now become utterly unexceptional - too sweet and bland. I doubt I will return, and I am very VERY sad about this.
(1)Kyrsten G.
I was super hopeful for this place to be good because its healthier food then the norm restaurant. I am almost willing to try it again just to try something else. But we went for dinner and ordered the pot stickers, which were fantastic and I loved the sauce it was served with. I got the korean japchae, not my favorite at all. It had clear, rubbery noodles with no flavor and were extremely tricky to chew. This was not a good feeling. The veggies in the dish were good, sauce was a little weird. We also got the yakisoba, pretty average, no great flavor, kind of bland but not bad. There was definitely a lot left to be desired from each dish.
(2)Scott H.
I had low expectations for this place and thankfully I was not hugely disappointed. I sampled the crab roll, pad thai, and bulgogi. The roll was flavorless and it's only saving grace was the sweet chili sauce that accompanied it. The pad thai was decent, but still nothing to write home about. The bulgogi was weird and had a bit of a cornstarch-ish caulk like texture to it.
(2)Chris L.
My wife and I went to Tofu Hut in desperate search for good Asian (especially Thai) in the Oly/Lacey area. We still haven't found it, but Tofu Hut isn't bad. Their menu had a lot of interesting creative dishes that are not typical Asian fare. We enjoyed it, but the flavors aren't all the way developed yet. A bit bland.
(3)Brandon S.
"WE SERVE MEAT!" is one of my favorite signs I've ever seen in front of a restaurant. Knowing that the restaurant is called Tofu Hut and the residents of Lacey aren't the biggest group of vegetarians and are probably pretty tofu-resistant as a whole, it is also one of the most necessary. But like the name implies, the tofu is the star. From a simple fried tofu appetizer to tofu stew to bibimbap to my new favorite, katsu-don, everything tofu related is delicious. Virtually everything is either vegan or gluten-free or can be made to be vegan or gluten-free. And if you are so inclined, like the sign screams, you can add meat to just about anything on the menu. They also serve vegan cupcakes that my pregnant wife has specifically asked for as a treat after she gives birth in a few weeks. She's not vegan or vegetarian and I could bring her any dessert she desires but she wants these cupcakes. That says a lot. Only downside: one cupcake runs $5. Service can be slow at times, for sure. But the servers are always friendly and the restaurant is a pleasant enough place to spend some time.
(4)Timothy C.
This was our first time here and we like the food. Our waitress was Michelle and she was very nice and answered all of our questions and if she didn't know the answer to one, she found out for us. They also do meat dishes as well as veggie ones. We will stop back in for a bit the next time we are in town. Very tasty!
(4)Darcy K.
My husband has been coming to Tofu Hut for over a year with a friend. He bought a deal and wanted me to try it out. The fried tofu appetizer and accompanying sauce were a nice start. My husband and I had the bibimbop. He enjoyed his but I ended up coveting my son's bulgogi dish. It was extremely flavorful and enough meat for 2. The staff was attentive and friendly. The shocker for me was the $90 bill in Lacey, WA. To be fair we overordered slightly but for my money I'd rather go out 3 times in Seattle's international district. This may work for double income no kid couples or singles but not our large family.
(4)Laurence U.
Wow the service at the Tofu Hut was a bit slow. I came with a party of six and had to wait until the whole restaurant cleared. Food is OK if you've got hours to wait but to me it's just not worth it. Staff apologized for the wait and were trying to do their best but the location just isn't set up to accommodate parties larger than 4 people.

First off, let me say something about Yelp's style - I love and appreciate this site, but I wish it wasn't so glibly politically-correct. Becky N's review of Tofu Hut, for instance, seems honest, sincere, and detailed, and yet I have to criticize her choice of the 1-star rating for a restaurant review that includes the sentence: "The highlight of this place are the small side dishes that came complimentary with your meal. They were all delicious and better than most other places." That's simply not fair. My experience with Tofu Hut was nothing but positive. The speed of service was fine, and more importantly it was fun ("you can sit anywhere you like, except maybe for a booth where someone else is already sitting, because that would just be weird" made me laugh and immediately brightened my day). As someone noted before, many of the dishes are (or can be made) gluten-free. One very minor criticism is that their online menu didn't always mesh with the physical menu we were given, but our waiter reiterated that they could tailor most dishes to be gluten-free. Some folks may have glommed onto this "lifestyle choice" because it's trendy, but my girlfriend has Celiac's and it's not really a choice for her, so this is a big plus for us. One after-the-fact question we had was whether or not the hot tea on the menu is barley tea, as another Yelper called it - if so, that is not actually a gluten-free item. Bigger than that, and perhaps of more concern for you, the random Yelper, is that the food here is TASTY. We started with the Roll Sampler, which means that my ladylove had the spring rolls (and I'd like to add that they were served on a separate plate, out of respect for keeping the gluten-free food separate from the rest, which was EXTRA-SPECIAL attention to detail), and that I had the flash crab roll and the potstickers. There was nothing to complain about for either - the potstickers were exceptional and clearly handmade; the crab rolls were tasty, albeit made with imitation crab (as I think almost all of them are now, no matter where you go) and very good, and the spring rolls were likewise very good. The tofu is wonderful, as could be expected based on their name. I myself had the bul-go-gi (think "mongolian beef"-ish) for my entree, which was tender, tasty, and just all-around enjoyable, with crisp, fresh vegetables. My partner had the pineapple curry fried rice, which was likewise quite tasty. For those who are interested, this restaurant has wheelchair access, and their back patio looks like it would be quite enjoyable in the spring and summer. The ambience isn't suitable for a "romantic dinner", but it's welcoming (with what appeared to be a real orchid on the table, although we resisted the urge to squeeze it to verify that). We plan on trying out the patio in a few months!

Loved this place. My partner and I used an Amazon local deal to try them out because they are slightly over our budget. The food was fresh and tasty. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got the Kalbi which is slightly sweet marinated beef short ribs and Matt got the Spicy Pork. We shared an order of fried tofu for an appetizer. They were great and even gluten free, not greasy at all and a fairly large portion for only 5 dollars!!! The Miso soup was nice: not overly salty like some. We would go again if we are able to splurge or get another awesome deal..

I've been going to Tofu Hut for quite a while. Me and my mom are fans of this place because of the prices and the food is pretty good. Overall, it's a great place if you want to eat pretty healthy. They have a lot of options for vegetarians, and while I'm not one, that's always something I think is good to offer. Now to the details. Service at Tofu Hut is pretty friendly. They are really great, and I've liked every server we've had. That being said, sometimes the service gets slow. I'm not a big complainer about this, but sometimes I have to wonder what's going on. I'm sure there are always things that come up. One thing I do have to say about their tables are the "booth" type tables. They seem a little small, and as if the table is trying to take you out by pushing you in the stomach. If you don't like crampy type seating, I'd recommend sitting at a table if you can. But note that we always seem to sit at the booths. Yes, we are gluttons for punishment and well, it seems like the "usual" place to sit at, as my mom put it. :D The food is pretty good. I'd like to say the Phad Thai is the probably one of the best in the area, I'm thinking it's because it's not too peanut-y, which I don't particularly like. regardless, it's pretty good. The bibimbop is good. I'd recommend the kimchee variation as that's some pretty tasty stuff. The saba (mackerel) is pretty good. It's my usual. I try to change it up with the salmon, which comes with a salad with "tofu dressing", which is pretty ok, if not a little bland. My all time favorite at Tofu hut is the Inari sushi. I know it's such a simple dish to do, but the rice is mixed with some herbs and I just love it. If you like that type of sushi (rice stuffed into some fried tofu pockets), I highly recommend it. There's no raw fish involved. :D Finally in closing I'd like to say Tofu Hut is always an enjoyable experience, and the environment is great. It's a little small, but I like to think it's just about right. It's a family type atmosphere, and everyone is always friendly to you. Tofu Hut is also a great place for lunch. The prices during lunch get about 3 bucks cheaper and when the dishes are about 11 to 13 dollars, that's some pretty cheap lunch.

Another great find due to Yelp. I was in the neighborhood today and stopped by the Tofu Hut for dinner. I got the potstickers and tofu stew with pork. The potstickers were deep fried and crispy, very good and greasy. The tofu stew was excellent with a meduim heat and came out bubbling hot as an inferno. The food is very fresh and good here, I will be back to try some other menu items out, I am moving nearby, so I will be a regular there.

I love Korean style tofu stew, and I'm far from being a vegetarian, but I do enjoy vegetarian dishes. When I read the reviews for this place and saw that it was close to home, I couldn't wait to try it. I started off with the tofu sampler. I love tofu, but was disappointed with it's sauces. The sauteed tofu was mixed with a sweet and sour sauce that was not tasty at all. Then, the soft warm tofu with the garlic sauce was just OK at best. The fried tofu was the tastiest. It was coated and fried so it stayed crispy and was served with what tasted like mae ploy sweet and sour sauce. Then I had the Tofu stew. The flavors, although bold, were just not there for me. Something was missing and off about the broth. Finally, the spicy marinated pork was very fatty and not very spicy as it should be. It was the worst korean style pork I've ever had. The highlight of this place are the small side dishes that came complimentary with your meal. They were all delicious and better than most other places. Korean food is usually bold and bursting with flavor. This place really toned it down for the non authentic palates. I will not be returning.

I was so impressed! I love this restaurant! The service was great. My son has food allergies and not only were there a refreshing number/variety of dishes he could eat on their menu, they were willing to alter dishes to accomodate his needs! We ordered a variety of dishes and everything we had was delicious!!! Thank you Tofu Hut, we will be back!

I went the first time at the urging of my wife, so I agreed to check it out. I was sure it would have foo-foo food I wouldn't like. WRONG! I tried a couple different dishes on our first couple visits, then settled in on the Phad Thai and poststickers for an appetizer. Amazing, amazing, amazingly good. The spring rolls in the sweet peanut sauce are so good as well. The service is also beyond excellent for each of our visits. They treat us like family when we visit, which is appreciated. It does get crowded, but I have never felt neglected or ignored during those times. The food still comes out nice and hot and fresh tasting no mater how busy it is. The only thing I worry about is that Tofu Hut will grow in popularity and move to a larger location and the quaintness will be lost. I want it to stay right by our house.
(5)Jay B.
The Korean jap chae had a good flavor, and the veggies were done right but the noodles killed the dish. They were overcooked mush and much too long i was choking. even after i tried to cut them in pieces so i wouldnt choke. The waitress was so helpless I thought maybe she was stoned. i dont think they ever cook the dish properly because she agreed that most people have a problem with the noodles. Gosh, I have had jap chae in several different locations for many years and never had to worry about choking. My fault though, i shouldve tried a tofu dish instead, i guess. The prices were crazy for what you get. 10.99 for an order. I get 2x's the jap chae at Paldo World for 3.99 and it is cooked properly.

This place really is great. I'll admit I was a little turned off by the name at first but they serve all kinds of meat as well. The food is excellent, staff is friendly, prices are reasonable, and the environment is nice...what more can you ask for?
(5)Merriah W.
Don't let the name fool you, they serve meat! My husband and I tried this place last night thanks to a living social deal and we were teased by friends when we checked in at "Tofu Hut" on facebook. We decided to go all out and ordered the fried potstickers to start and they were delicious. The dipping sauce was a bit salty for my taste, but that is my only complaint. We then ordered the korean short ribs, chicken fried rice and the beef pad thai. They ask how spicy you want it and we ordered the Pad Thai at a level 3 which was medium and about as high as I would want to go. Everything was delicious and extremely fresh! I LOVED the fresh vegetables that were in everything. The service was great and I really liked how small and comfortable the place was. We will DEFINITELY be back! (Heading to the fridge now to eat some leftovers!)
(5)Cheri J.
This was my first visit, and am happy with the food. I ordered the roll sampler to go. The spring roll was good. They aren't wrapped very tightly, so the first one began to fall apart when dipped into the peanut sauce, so I poured the sauce onto the second half and problem solved! The crab rolls were yummy. I like the chili sauce.
(4)Judy M.
Great food, friendly service, and a wonderful selection of food! Do not be turned off by the name Tofu Hut. They do serve meat, and their options are plentiful. Best Vegan cupcakes ever!!!
(4)Dustin W.
My favorite restaurant of all time. Do not let the name fool you. They have a lot of tofu but you can substitute meat in pretty much any dish. The service is outstanding and the food is incredible. I didn't really like tofu before I tried this place and I realized it's all about how it is cooked. The lucky noodles are great as well as the V8 and the spicy pork. Highly highly recommend.
(5)Thomas J.
Lacey's best thai! If you normally eat 2 star in Seattle, get at least 3 here - that'll be my strategy next time. I'm guessing the south-sound star system has a different rating level than parts north. I had the pad thai with chicken, which was made with a unique spin that I hadn't had in either Seattle or Thailand - wasn't bad, just a little different. It is an Asian fusion place, so the next time I'll be trying one of the Korean dishes. Many, many vegerarian options, and vegan options as well.
(4)Cari B.
This is a Gem in the Lacey area. One of only a few restaurants in the area that have Vegan options. And the food is delicious . Their Vegan cupcakes are totally awesome. Get there early or the cupcakes will be all gone.
(4)Foodvana F.
This is a great family-friendly Asian restaurant that has lots of vegetarian options and classic Korean dishes that you might not find in other places in Olympia or Lacey. Although the menu is a mix of Asian cuisines, including Thai and Japanese, we favored the Korean specialites like Jap Chae and Bi Bim Bap and the Tofu Stew. These come in healthy portions (Asian mother style!) without the hefty tag price (most are $9-$12, lunch and dinner). Be sure to start off with a nice hot cup of barley tea! I first tried barley tea in Boston's Chinatown and have long searched for it on east and west coasts. Tofu Hut has it! A great nutty aroma and a nice warm-up to the tasty, spicy dishes that await. Fans of alt music, we want to give a shout-out to how much we love the background tunes in this place, which often features The Shins, Vampire Weekend, and Feist. Great music is the perfect accompaniment to the great food. The only slight drawback for Tofu Hut is that it's located on that part of Pacific that's one way. So it may be easy to miss! ** Here's the trick to getting to Tofu Hut: If you're coming from downtown Olympia, or from the westside, you'll need to take Lacey Blvd east, past the rotary. Turn left at Ruddell Road and then left again to go back west on Pacific. Be sure to stay in the right-hand left-turning lane, as Tofu Hut is not that far from the intersection and you don't want to have to do the loop again -- although we think it's worth it!
(4)Lori D.
Shockingly vegan friendly for the area! Tofu Hut does live up to its name but they do have some areas they can work on. First, I'll start with the areas that need improvement.. I was prepared for the not the greatest service as reading from the Yelp reviews and they are true. One server for the entire restaurant pretty much, occasionally the lighter hair guy comes out and helps every now and then. And I always had to really flag him down when I wanted something. And I never got my water refilled once. But he did check up on me a few times to ask how my food was. They definitely need to hire one more person, especially since a Tuesday night was very busy. I cannot imagine the service on the weekend. Also, I read that miso soup was included with the rice dishes. But it never arrived after I already received my orders. So I inquired and he said that since I ordered for everything to be vegan, he didn't bring the miso soup by default because it is made with fish stock. I wish he would have informed me from when I ordered about the soup, letting me know it is not vegan (since I've seen it made with veggie broth in some vegan friendly places) at least and if I didn't want it, perhaps offer a vegan alternative (maybe a veggie spring roll or two?) so that I get my money's worth since this place is a bit pricey. And the vegan cupcakes... personally, I prefer the ones from Whole Foods better and they are cheaper. I knew from the start they were made somewhere else, waiter had to get a list since he said new ones came in, no big deal. There were 2 choices tonight: Orange Cinnamon and Chocolate Rosewater. I ordered the latter, it was bigger than the average cupcake (halfway in size between a normal cupcake and a Costco muffin) so I thought that might justify a small increase in price from the typical $3 cupcakes. But then I tasted it and the texture was way too dry for my liking (resembling a Costco double chocolate chip muffin) and the frosting was really dense with barely any rosewater flavor at all (baby pink in color but tasted more like vanilla). And I didn't even finish it because it was so dry and I NEVER leave any bit of a cupcake behind! So now for the positives: I ordered Famous Katsu-don and Pineapple Curry Fried Rice, and asked for them to both be vegan. The fried tofu was the same in both dishes, not too oily or crispy, and with a yummy creamy consistency once you bit into the rectangular morsel. And they did not skimp on the portions one bit, they give you quite a bit of tofu. I ate most of the Katsu-don and left half the rice behind and just had a few bites of the fried rice (the rest will be dinner tomorrow). The Katsu-don house sauce was pretty much a sweet teriyaki style sauce, really good combination with the grilled onions, carrots, and mushrooms. They even added some nori in the middle to add a little salty to the sweet, I liked that touch. The Pineapple Curry Fried Rice had quite the Thai flavor from the herbs used to create the curry, even down to including a lime wedge, which was quite delicious. The tomato wedges on top were odd but didn't really matter. It smelled heavenly! All in all, from a (current) vegan's perspective (since I cannot vouch for the bulgogi or chicken), this place is worthwhile checking out if you are within a 30 minute drive to the place. The tofu is bitchin' and they have plenty of different ways they prepare it with over a dozen options for the vegans. If you are dying for a vegan cupcake, by all means, but don't expect the best. And the service will suck unless A. you are a huge party or B. you order alcohol. It is a small, cute little place and I would return for another tofu fix when my fridge becomes empty.
(3)Amy X.
Cheap and delicious... the best combination. The Bangkok Pad Thai was excellent (and I've had a fair bit of Pad Thai, including many times during a summer in Bangkok). The fried tofu is DE-lish! I definitely didn't regret ordering the Pad Thai with tofu instead of meat. Hubby enjoyed his tofu soup too. The side dishes were impressively presented, but I think paying an extra $2 for them is not worth it unless you're really hungry or love kimchee, soybean sprouts, broccoli, and cucumber. Still, $9 for each of our orders was not a bad deal at all. Our server was very friendly and efficient too. An unexpectedly enjoyable dinner after wine blending... thanks to a spur of the moment search on Yelp!

This restaurant was a huge disappointment! I am Korean and obviously grew up on Korean food and I think the majority of people can cook better food than this restaurant had to offer. I wasn't in the mood for anything heavy so I just ordered an oriental salad. This is what it consisted of, lettuce (iceberg that was just rinsed so there was lots of water on the bottom of my plate), raw walnuts, cucumber, mandarin oranges, black olives?? random, crunchy chow mien noodles and chicken. The chicken was weird. No grill marks, maybe it was baked?? Not even a pan fried golden color? Just white boiled chicken? They served it with a raspberry vinaigrette?? Thats not an oriental salad. That is just weird. In all fairness they do say on the menu that it is served with rasp vin so I guess that is my fault for not reading it thoroughly. Can't believe I paid $10 for it. It was just nasty all around. You can get an awesome oriental salad at apple bees. just saying. My kids ordered flash crab rolls and sauteed tofu. The flash crab roll was absolutely disgusting. It was like a giant eggroll that was cut in two pieces. It had corn in it and I don't know what else. Looked like a big blob of gray mess. My daughter wouldn't eat it. It reminded me of the nasty eggrolls that the south pacific restaurant served when they were open. The sautéed tofu was even worse. It had chopped white onion and ketchup and maybe soy sauce? First off I don't know why they would put onions on a kids meal but to add insult to the tofu and asians in general (lol) Ketchup? ewwwww. If you are not familiar with Korean cooking you shouldn't have a Korean restaurant. Only giving the 2 stars for the cleanliness, the staff was nice, and the sake was good (but how do you screw that up? comes in a bottle and you just pour right?) I would only give this restaurant another chance if somebody else was paying. I won't spend my money here again.
(2)Jody F.
Since I first saw the sign, I've wanted to give the owner some Simon Cowell style feedback, "I don't know who you're getting advice from, but "Tofu Hut" is the name of a restaurant begging for a 6th month life span, and your location has seen several restaurants fail in recent history." We finally went in last weekend. At 7:00 on a Saturday we were one of only two couples dining. I'm worried for The Tofu Hut. BUT! I loved my bi-bim-bop... and my husband enjoyed "The Brian" which is the "V-8" plus chicken - named after our good-tip-deserving waiter. Their fried tofu app (Vietnamese style yummy goodness) is delish. Try it, and tell your friends! This place deserves a chance.
(4)Dawn D.
I was pleasantly surprised by Tofu Hut. The service is nearly flawless, they did forget the hubby's order of sake until it was too late, but were polite when we declined the order of sake (we were about to leave by then). The food tastes fresh enough, my seafood sundubu was good, but it lacked that oomph-maybe they need to add some soybean paste? My hubby's bulgogi- the cut of meat was not fatty, nor dry....pleasant affordable restaurant. The one thing I didn't like was how cold the restroom was-since it's on the outside-maybe a heater for customers on winter days would be nice?
(4)Niheala R.
Food ok service sucked. We were never asked how the food was or if we wanted anything else. We would have had ice cream...Ifinally asked for a box take the rest of the food home. Bought box, no check . finally went to register. Won't return for mediocre food and worse service.
(2)Kendra L.
Only place that can really make delicious vegan food. Love them
(5)Olympiagal P.
Great food-fresh, healthy, mouthwatering!!! The place is not fancy-hence the "hut", but it is clean and pleasant. We went on a recent and rare spectacularly sunny day. We sat on the nice little deck. The servers (2 white guys, oddly) were attentive and helpful. We ordered the Fresh Spring Rolls, which were addictively awesome-crunchy tofu, gossamer rice wrap, fresh veg, tasty peanut dipping sauce. Viet Garden Bowls-which is a cold vermicelli noodle salad and it was really good, but it would be nice to have more variety of stuff in it. Mrs Kim Bibimbap-which is a filling Korean something I have never had but it was hearty and lively and delicious. Korean JapChae: "The most popular Korean noodle dish. Stir fried Sweet Potato noodles with beef (we had tofu), seasoned shiitake mushrooms, scallions, onions, broccoli, carrots and chef special sesame sauce". We all loved this, especially my 6 yo daughter. The noodles were fun to eat-big fat yummy things. We also ordered the yakisoba noodles with chicken, really good. Lots of leftovers which made a wonderful lunch the next day. mmmm My husband, 9 yo son, 6 yo daughter, my mouth, my belly were all exceedingly happy with every bite. I can't wait to try some of the other menu items. My only criticism-please don't serve bottles of crappy chemically artificial lemonade. It is not that hard to have quality bottled and canned beverages. 1/3/2011 Another great experience-the fresh spring rolls are so good! 2/5/11 Beef bulgogi-tender, lean, mouth party & fantastic steamed potstickers
(5)Briea D.
This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the Lacey/Oly area. The service is always fantastic, the portion sizes are generous, and the food is very good. They offer lots of healthy options, many with great flavor. I'm a fan of the vegan cupcakes. Great hot tea and miso soup, as well. My partner and I often ask for recommendations from the wait staff and have never been disappointed.
(4)Annie S.
After trying so many tofu stews, the tofu here is OK. They have really friendly service, and the workers are really nice. I must say, their salmon is pretty good. If you do get the tofu stew though, get the spiciest, as the spiciest is not even spicy at all O_O
(4)Liz D.
My husband and I have been here twice, and we were pleased with our service/food both times. The fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce are delicious. We like this restaurant because of the fusion menu. If I am craving Thai and he is craving Korean....we can both leave happy :) Excellent, healthful options. Great flavors.
(4)Chip B.
Our party of 3 dined here last night. The atmosphere is great and I was surprised that the inside is much larger than it appears from the street. I had Yakisoba with Chicken which was very good...large variety of vegetables included. My daughter had the Phad Thai with Tofu. I tried a bite and have to admit that the tofu was very tasty. My wife had the JapChae which is made with beef. I tried it and liked the sesame oil flavor but the noodles were not to my liking. Not being an asian cuisine expert, I can't tell you the name of those clear noodles but I can say that I don't care for the way they stick to your throat as they go down. No reflection on the restaurant...just personal choice. I used a Restaurant.com gift certificate. Three meals with tax and tip...out the door...$18. We will certainly be going back to try other dishes that sound delicious.

if you're not being a snob about "authenticity" and are excited about "deliciousity," then tofu hut is where it's at. i mean, really. the restaurant is called tofu hut. i like to think of it as a reminder to get your expectations in order before you go.
(4)H. L.
We decided to try out Tofu Hut about 6 in the evening.....4 adults and one five yr old. The place was relatively busy but not packed. Many tables with lots of children which was fine since we had brought a child as well. The food was good though a bit slow. One waiter and one waitress were working and both somewhat busy. The waiter was accomodating and he seemed to keep his tasks and tables all happy. Our waitress while very sweet was forgetful (3 times asked for booster seat....finally we asked waiter and he brought it) inquired three times for "cheater" chopsticks for child ....and finally the waiter told us they didn't have them....thats ok....forks are fine. Just wanted an answer. Would definitely go again.....as the food was worth it. There are times when a team of two can be awesome and are timesaving, the waitress needs somemore practice at multi tasking.
(3)Matthew H.
We went here as it was opening, and the four of us ordered a ton of food. We all shared our dishes, and were very impressed with the food, service, and the interior. The bi bim bap was great, and the korean "tofu hot pot" type dish was amazing. Will definitely be back next time we're in the area!
(5)Bo W.
First at all, Tofu hut is not thai cuisine! It's a mix of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese restaurant. I ate there today at lunch, but the stew makes me burp all day.... That feeling is so bad. They also charge me $ 2 to refill side dishes..... I have never met this... Honestly, the tofu is soft that is good, but the size is small for me. it's not good for its price. I guess i will never be there again

We were told this was the "Best restaurant " in Olympia so our expectations were high. It started off bad and got worse from there. First we had to ask whether we order at the counter or sit down, and whether we could seat ourselves, while two servers and and a third employee looked at us blankly. Then we had to ask for menus. Fifteen minutes later, after watching the waiter clean several empty tables that nobody was waiting to sit at, our orders were taken. While we awaited, the place emptied out including a table next to us, left with dirty dishes. I finally asked the waiter to clean the table next to ours, and where our food was, after 20 minutes. He half- heartedly cleared the table near us then went on to clean, wipe and set up all the other empties- while we hungrily waited for "The best food in Olympia". Finally after 30 minutes the waiter told us they were "working on" our food and that they had alot of take out orders. (When I order take out they tell me when it will be ready, and seated customers get priority, not the opposite). Thirty five minutes after ordering, our food came. My younger son and I had Pad Thai. It was just OK. He liked his better than I did. I love Pad Thai and have had much better. My other son had a vegan dish with tofu which he liked. On finishing the meal, of course, we had to wait and ask for the check. I have never had such bad service in my life. It was like they were purposely trying to make it as bad as possible! I was afraid of what the rest of Olympia was like if this was the best, but the next day we ate elsewhere and the food and service were great. Stuffed ballot?
(2)Juli M.
Kind of shoddy execution and underwhelming flavors. The Korean bent is interesting, but there's great Korean soft tofu restaurants in Lakewood, there's good panchan to be had over on Martin Way, and the rest of the strange almost-pan-Asian-kind-of menu is really hit or miss. Simple dishes that are normally sublime are run through a sort of bland filter and come out just sort of unpleasant. They have an unusual kimchee that is enjoyable, which is worthwhile. They have a premise that's sorely underrepresented in Olympia and they do have some promise, but for now they're coming up really short.
(2)Bryan K.
So I have to be honest...when my wife asked me to go eat at the "Tofu Hut", I was very...ummm....hesistant?...resistant?...out right opposed to eating 'tooooo-fu' for lunch OR dinner. I think my exact words were, "...tofu? you want me to eat tofu? but men don't eat tofu...?" Boy, was I wrong... When I saw the menu, there were plenty of dishes without tofu. I ordered the "Bangkok Phad Thai w/ Chicken" but our friendly waitress recommended the "Fried Tofu" appetizer since I wasn't a big fan of tofu. One word...."Tofulicious!" Make sure you order this!! The sweet chili sauce with the fried tofu is awesome! I love anything fried so finding something that is healthy and fried was 'mindblowing'. After I couldn't spot raving about the Fried Tofu, our waitress also recommended something off their 'secret' menu..."tofu cinnamon sticks"! It tastes exactly like little churros but without the GUILT!! **This won't be on the menu so ask your server!** I think it's safe to say, I am the newest fan of tofu and the Tofu Hut! And, oh yes...my wife is always right. =)

This place has awful food. The absolute worst food with an Asian lable in all of lacey, Olympia or the surrounding area. It was expensive, my chicken was tough, dry and gristly. Some awful person rated this garbadge best in Olympia. Do not be fooled, its over priced, over cooked, under flavored and undersized portions for your money. Pasty white college vegans have no buisness cooking this garbage and calling it Asian food. I have never been so disappointed on my life...go somewhere else before you get through the door. It even smells like bad food inside.
(1)Louise W.
Great fresh Thai food! The fried eggplant appetizer was a new thing we tried and it was good. The tofu they use is by far the best in town. They do serve meat too and we love several of the dishes. We will be back when we are on that side of town....its right by Saint Martins.

I'm sure you will not be very surprised to hear that Tofu Hut is a restaurant specializing in dishes made from tofu. Tofu Hut offers a mix of traditional tofu dishes from across Asia (pad thai, inari sushi, tofu stir fries, kimchi tofu stew, sweet and sour tofu), adaptions of meat dishes to use tofu, restaurant specialties with tofu, and a handful of meat and fish dishes to keep the meat-eaters happy. The restaurant definitely caters to an American audience - maybe you think that's a good thing, maybe not. The menu talks about "low calorie chicken breast" and "omega-3 fish oils" and the effects of so protein on osteoporosis. Fried eggs are optional on the bibimbap. Panchan, the wonderful little side dishes of vegetables that come free at most Korean restaurants, are $2. The food isn't very spicy. I love the idea of the restaurant. It's a great idea for a vegetarian restaurant, and it's very cute. Unfortunately, I just don't like tofu that much. It's like flavorless jello. So I wanted a fairy-tale ending to my visit to Tofu Hut; I wanted these specialists to have some tofu dish so magical that the skies would open, angels would sing, and a golden beam of light would fall from the heavens onto my menu. The tofu would be ... tasty. I didn't find the miracle. This time, anyway. I had the house specialty vegetable silken tofu stew, which was nicely spicy and the vegetables well cooked, but not spicy enough to make the tofu taste like anything other than library paste. The tofu croquettes were mostly lacking flavor, but there is a very nice sesame oil zucchini panchan dish. Grilled vegetable skewers were underdone. Worth trying at least once, especially if you're a vegetarian or a health food nut (or vegan, or gluten intolerant... they even have gluten free dishes on the menu). The service is pleasant and helpful and the chefs are flexible. I will be back, still hoping for my ray of light and angelic choir singing. This place is awesome. The food is fresh, super tasty, and you can tell someone cares about what they are doing. I almost always get the tofu stew, but have been trying to rotate that with trying other things. I appreciate that there are so many vegan options and my partner likes that there is meat and other options. So far everything we have tried we love. This is definitely some of the best food in Olympia and the price can't be beat. Plus the owner is great, very friendly.
