I've been eating at Acropolis since back when it was still Athens, and as anyone can tell you, the key is the grinders. While Acropolis offers a selection of standard Italian fare, their specialty is the hot oven grinders (Italian sub sandwiches, for the uninitiated) on their menu. My personal recommendation is the Canadian bacon, but the pastrami is also excellent. For such a simple recipe, these sandwiches are simply unbeatable. My father grew up in Kirkland and has eaten at Acropolis for years; ever since he moved to Florida, he spends half of his visiting vacation meals eating at Acropolis and buying extra grinders to bring home for later. The business I work for uses them as a secret weapon when buying lunch for prospective clients. They are all that, and despite a somewhat lackluster menu beyond them (including a pretty meager beer selection, which is almost unforgivable in Washington), they've earned all five stars.

I have never had rude service here ever!.Easy access with lots of parking. Old school pizza place with good sandwiches and fresh salads. The chef salad is really good. BBQ spare ribs and spaghetti Plate!

I feel like this place has kind of a "Cult-Kirkland" following. There's nothing that particularly stands out about it in a positive or negative way. The service is okay, prices are okay, stick with the Pizza and you'll never go wrong!

This place rocks. My lady and I always split the spaghetti with meat sauce and a grinder. The food is always great and it's more than reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this place

This place is amazing! First time here and will for sure return soon! Great service and most important fantastic food!

This is one of those places that is better than it looks. Small family owned establishment. I love their Pizza. I like the style and the crust. The interior of the restaurant is a little dated and could use some updating. The pizza is a great style and great taste. Not a Neapolitan type pizza. Will continue to go back and try more and more items. Service could use just a little more attention. Overall a good experience.

The BEST sandwich / grinder I have ever eaten. And, I am usually not a big meat fan. I really love my vegetables. My husband and I ate here for the first time Saturday for lunch. I had the 1/2 pepperoni grinder with salad, husband had the full size deli grinder. yum yummmmm !!! It was just wonderful. One of the cleanest restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating in. The very best service. Very casual, don't go here if you want a fancy night out. But, if you are looking for some really excellent food, and great service it is fantastic. Very reasonable prices too. Beer & wine only, I had a nice glass of Chardonnay for $4.25. I almost didn't yelp about this place, because I don't want it to get so busy I can't get in. But, they deserve it, the BEST !!!

  • Amy J.

Meh. Quite underwhelmed. Pizza was acceptable, nothing outstanding. Beer selection was terrible and for wine you're getting Gallo. Haven't had the pastas and won't be going back to try them. One bright spot was outstanding service. But that's not enough to go back. If you want pizza in Kirkland, try Zeke's and Pegasus.

12 years of grinder lunch specials, occasional pizza, but mostly grinders. Small, plain, family run and that's fine with me. Silicon Valley crowd - go home.

    Great pizza! Awesome grinders!

Tired of Subway and Jimmy John's? Change it up with an Acrop grinder. I cannot speak for much of the menu because I'm constantly getting their sandwich combo for lunch. Big 1/2 of a sandwich and a bowl of soup or salad...what's not to like? The sandwich bread is good, baked in high heat for the crispy crust, but soft inside, nice slather of mayo, and a fair amount of meat under the veggies, plus the bits of baked cornmeal, fantastic combo! Myself, I thoroughly enjoy the Canadian bacon or pastrami grinder with a hot bowl of minestrone. Service generally seems good, always friendly smiles from the man behind the register and price is ok. Nothing to complain about so far. As I said above, I cannot attest to most of the menu, but the lunch special? Give it a go! This is a solid, solid 3.5 star kind of place... wish there was an option for that.

Amazing grinders! Crispy toasted bread but still soft & chewy on the inside. I had the roast beef which was good but my boyfriend's BBQ chicken grinder was even better. Our other friends had the pepperoni which seemed like a popular flavor. I'm pleasantly surprised by the giant portions (literally over a foot long) and was stuffed with tons of meat, lettuce, and cheeses. The $8 to $9 price tag is so worth it, and you'll have some left to bring to lunch the next day. It was so good, I felt like a miss piggy and ate it all =/ Next time I will have to try the pizzas and pastas!!

  • Sandy L.

Their pizza reminded me the best pizza i ever had in Cosmopolitan Las Vegas---relatively thin crispy crust, fresh ingredients on the top, super hot and fresh. Also, this is the only restaurant i know on the eastside which can close for 2 weeks every August for vacation. Good for them!!

My parents have been coming to this restaurant since they were in college. We make it a priority to come here whenever we are around Kirkland. Great food. Great people!

This is my favorite pizza place in the area ....and my favorite grinder place ever! Even writing this review, I want to go get one of their turkey grinders! They are SO good! The bread they use is fresh and toasted perfectly, the mayo and turkey and lettuce are the perfect combination.. I'm seriously salivating here. What would make this place better? DELIVERY!!! haha make it easier for me to indulge! :) Also, outdoor seating might be fun during summer time -- reminds me of back home in eastern Europe... but the way the location is set-up, I know that's not probable. Carbs galore? For sure... but worth every mouth watering bite!

Warning: Not for those watching their weight, cholesterol levels, sodium intake, fat intake, or anything of the like! I've been working in Kirkland for almost 5 years now and I always pass this place -- it never occurred to me to stop there until I was on a Yelp hunt for a sandwich in the area during my lunch hour. Per the recommendation of many Yelpers preceding me, I decided to go with the pepperoni grinder before I even left the office. My experience with the service was brief but excellent, to say the least. The moment I walked in, I was greeted and while I stood to wait for my grinder I was asked by every person that walked by if I was helped to ensure I wasn't idling by while they whisked past me serving the steady lunch crowd. I was shocked when I was handed my sandwich. This isn't your run-of-the-mill foot-long sandwich (i.e. Subway, Jimmy Johns). This thing is a monster! On my way back to the office, the smell of the sandwich was enough to get my tastebuds excited and by the time I took the first bite it was practically euphoric. This has got to be the best way to get full for 7.50 +tax -- I could barely close in on the first half, let alone thinking about finishing the second however, all the better because I will have a fantastic leftover for dinner! All I have left to say is...Wow.

My first time having a grinder was here since it was recommended by many co-workers. It was really dry & I found myself constantly drinking water in between bites. Small parking space & venue for how busy this place it. Came here for lunch & all the booths were full. Would I go back? Why not? I'd just order something different.

Total crap.... I bought a living social coupon... They did not honor it... The lady in charge was incredibly smug about it... The food is just a step above subway... If you want an actual Greek experience, get a gyro at Santorini... It's right up the street, and at least a thousand times better.

  • Lisa E.

holy crap! how did this get such a good review? I'm amazed. This review is strictly for the pizza only. G-ross. I had a hard time choking it down. How the ef do you screw up pizza this bad? I seriously don't understand. I must be missing something.

Pizzas are quite good (Greek style, with the cheese over the toppings), as are the salads. But what sets this place apart are the grinders. Absolutely delicious! The first time my wife and I went there we ordered a large caesar salad and a grinder to share. The grinder was served cut in four pieces and we thought that they had mistakenly given us two sandwiches instead of one. Wrong! That's just how big their grinders are. Quality AND quantity, at very reasonable prices- my favorite combo! I love this place, you will, too!

  • Cora L.

Love this place - good food, great service, and fun times. Skip the garlic bread and get the Acropolis pizza! SO GOOD! The iced mugs are freakin' awesome.

  • Hae Sue P.

I so want to love this place as it's a local joint but the food isn't up to par with the service and nice folks here. If you do pop in, stick to the pizza and sandwiches and avoid the $19 chicken dinner that was so dry and had zero flavor.

  • Jamie R.

Their bread was good, and the Greek salad but their pizza was not good at all. When first opening the box to look at the pizza, I got nauseated. It just looked disgusting to me. After tasting it, it was very reminiscent of elementary school cafeteria pizza. Will definitely never get pizza there again, but would possibly try a sandwich.

    (2)
  • Mesterio R.

This is a great place for grinders. Great service and friendly people. The lightly toasted ham and pineapple grinders are the best around. Period.

    (5)
  • Amber L.

You guys, the grinders....the grinders. You have not had a sandwich until you've eaten here! The staff are always friendly and quick. I have never been disappointed!

  • Sailor Boy S.

Simple good pasta grinders and piazzas. Never have had anything other than their house salad but my dad swears by their Greek salad. Always seems busy and service is prompt and friendly! Good spot in Kirkland when you need to get your pizza and pasta fix! I recommend the canneloni!

  • Bill W.

I'm not sure I understand all the five-star reviews of this place. The food is not too bad, but I'm still not overly impressed after two visits. And, no, I did not expect any Greek food. On our second visit, I tried a grinder (meatball), since that's one of big recommendations I kept reading. The bread was great and the meatballs and sauce were top-notch. Most meatball sandwiches are overstuffed with meatballs. This one is not, and that's OK, if a bit disappointing). She had pasta. This comes in a very generous portion and is suitably meaty and cheesy. Preceding both was salad, which (as we discovered on our first visit) appears to come out of a bag. We will try again, since it is the closest diner to our house. It's pleasant and inexpensive. Everyone is touting the pizza, so we'll try one of those. On the other hand, my eye keeps landing on the Barbequed Spareribs & Spaghetti. What's that about?

    (3)
  • Melodie S.

This review is for the pasta, as I see a lot of good reviews are for the pizza and grinders. My husband and I didn't try those, as our distaste was high enough that I doubt we will return. I ordered the ravioli and my husband ordered the spaghetti. Both dishes tasted as though they came out of a Chef Boyardee can, with that special pre-made and pre-packaged taste, too-soft, with an odd aftertaste. If you go here, I'd recommend trying their pizza, and staying away from their pasta.

    (2)
  • Suzanna C.

Food was great! I ordered the cold cut grinder, hubby had the baked spaghetti, and my son had the spaghetti with meat sauce. Definitely going back! :)

  • Kaarin S.

I love Acropolis. My grandma and I go here fairly often, either to dine in or take out. The best thing about their food is that it's so simple. Service is fast, usually friendly, and the environment is relaxed. The food makes great leftovers, and while it's not healthy, it's super filling. There's really nothing else that needs to be said about this place. It's delicious, fast, simple, and fairly inexpensive. What more could you want?

    Good hot Grinders.

  • Josh T.

Are the positive reviews of this place some kind of joke? Is it employees posting reviews? This is the most dreadful restaurant I've visited in the whole of the time I've lived in WA. I ordered a chicken pasta dish. It was processed chicken! Like you get in a McNugget?! AVOID.

  • Kristen B.

I thought that Acropolis was great for take out. I would have given it five stars just based on the fact that the pizza was absolutely amazing when brought home and enjoyed with a movie and good company. My better half and I decided we should grab a quick bite before I ventured off to class for the afternoon and Acropolis was close by. We sat down, ordered, and in a matter of minutes, our cheesy bread arrived. It was amazing! We saved half of it for left overs. About five minutes later, our large cheese pizza was brought to the table. It was soo cheesy and gooey and completely made my day. We were in and out and satisfied in no time. We brought home half of the cheesy bread and about half of the large cheese pizza. It was no surprise that we polished it off before the night was through!! AMAZING pizza! No need to order extra cheese! It's all provided for you! Looking forward to my next experience with Acropolis.

Grinders are the best in the state! I have been eating acopolis since I was 5 years old and I have tried other places, but nothing compares! 5 stars for their grinders! They have a great lunch special that includes a house salad, if you ever get it I suggest trying their specialty thousand islans dressing!

I seriously can't believe I haven't reviewed this place considering I stare at their roof from my balcony! I have been going to this place for year's and I still love them. The turkey grinder is the best! The service is usually pretty fast but it definitely gets busy. The quality has remained consistent over the years too so there are never any surprises :)

  • MamaKitty D.

All I can say is YUMMMM!! their pastas, salads and pizza are all amazing...yes its a little pricey and its a small place, but what do you expect when you are getting good food?? has anyone else noticed there is a little something "extra" they add to everything?? its cinnamon, who knew a dash of that stuff could make food so addicting LOL My only complaint is the wait staff isnt very tentative to refilling drinks, noticing your ready to pay your bill, get a to go box etc...other that, it is one of my favorite places to eat.

  • Caity G.

I have been going here ever since 1998, when my Grandma lived in downtown Kirkland. I have been getting the Canadian Bacon Grinder ever since. I recently became pregnant and all I ever want is a GRINDER!!! My poor husband. If we lived closer we would eat here every night. Love this place and the service is always amazing. I call in my order and it's ready in 10 min!

  • Sione P.

Acropolis is a great place that has been the same for years. I've been eating grinders here for maybe 15 years and they've always been great! From the meatball, which is saucy and has tasty meatball, to the vegetarian, which got me through about 5 years of vegetarianism, they've all not let me down. They also serve a good Greek-style pizza! This is one of those places that has a good "family-feel" to it. It feels homey and warm and the food is def comfort food, from the hot grinders dripping with oils and mayonnaise to the pastas and pizzas. The service is good and you'll not leave hungry. It's not fancy food. It's just tasty good food served right. I wish I still worked and/or lived nearer to here so I could pick up a grinder more often!

  • Marisa S.

This is one of those perfect family restaurants. Everything is made from scratch including the blue cheese salad dressing. This is the only place I can take my loud kids and we all have a good time. A nice bonus is that you get great sized portions for the price. A really nice contrast to the super expensive restaurants in Kirkland.

  • J.Nichole S.

This place is exactly what I want it to be. Cheap, delicious, comfy and fairly quick. I don't love the pizza here but my boyfriend swears by it. The baked pastas are my favorite - the best being the manicotti which is TERRIBLY TASTY but beware - it's served piping hot from the oven and takes a while to cool. Because I am usually starving when I get here - I always get a little side salad to eat while I wait for the cheese in my pasta to be less molten. The dinerific salad with a side of ranch, the manicotti, some water and tea (or on some occasions a beer or cheap glass of red) make the perfect meal. I do not recommend the garlic bread - it tastes like fake butter + garlic salt on too crisp toast - but other than that this place is a fabtastic joint for lunch or dinner. They are also really accommodating to groups and campers (sometimes we like to hang out for a while after we're done.) Oh and don't be fooled by the name - the only Greek things I could find in this place was the baklava and some photos of the Acropolis by the cash register - so don't come expecting gyros and tzatziki.

NYC Pizza snobs take note, this is Greek style pizza!! And these fine folks do it up rrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!! A good buddy of mine brought Starch-boy, myself and his two sons here a few weekends ago, the place was packed at 2:25PM!! Parking wasn't too bad for this area of Kirkland, they have their own parking lot and there are spaces up the street, if you must. Believe me, it's worth the wait and hassle of finding a spot. This place is rock'n with locals so don't diss! Pizza was the typical "Greek" style pizza, thicker bread-like crust, oiled up to perfection and baked just right. My fav were the GRINDERS! Nothing too fancy, just meat piled up with a bit of lettuce, tomato, sauce and a little ka-pow, served up fast on a French roll! My bud's youngest got a pasta dish, it was HUGE!! And man did it look and smell good! I can't rate the taste as he wasn't sharing!!! A fine family run place, the waitresses serve it up fast with plenty of Aloha... I mean OPA!

Best Grinders in the NW! I grew up in New England eating fantastic Italian grinders and since leaving there in 1990 have never been able to find anything close. After 21 years of searching I finally found it! Get the Ham and Cheese or Cold Cut, but hold the mayo and add the Greek dressing for East Coast style. There are plenty of other great sandwich places in Seattle, but if you want an East coast style grinder, go here!

  • Randy P.

We stumbled across this place a few years back when we were visiting Kirkland. We were staying in a hotel down in Renton and made the drive back to Kirkland in blizzard like weather just to eat here again. Huge portions, great home style Italian & Greek plates. LOVED the Manicotti. Service was quick and very responsive. The only thing I would change on the menu is to add an Italian Grinder to the list. A combo of Salami, Pepperoni, Ham with Provolone, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Italian dressing and marinara... oven roasted! This would be perfect.

  • E F.

Two words: Meatball Grinder. Great sliced meatballs and the right amount of sauce, spices and cheese. Each one is two meals easily. Great place to call ahead and get take-out. They always say "ten minutes" and it's always ready when you get there less than 10 minutes later. I have to say I haven't tried the rest of the menu, including the pizza, but the grinders are delicious!

Very huge acropolis pizza!!! only $20 and enough for 3 people! Very good place, I like it.

  • Alecia M.

We haven't been here in a long time but it wasn't as good as I remembered. The green salad was awful - iceberg lettuce, some of it brown and croutons - that's it. Pizza was okay but not great. Unfortunate since we had remembered this place being really good but guess it has gone down hill in the last couple of years.

  • Rachel P.

good old fashioned yummy food- a little on the unhealthy side but their lunch special is tasty and affordable- for a sit down. went with co-workers on Friday and they easily accomodated our smallish group early in the lunch hour. Service and food were good- nothing spectacular but good. I can't imagine going there for a fancy dinner but for lunch it's great! Pizza looked very good. Check it out!!

AWESOME, awesome, awesome place! When I was working in Kirkland I went here quite often with co-workers. I love their chef salad and turkey grinder with lots of mustard and olives. You know its good when its always packed, thats a good sign. Service is always excellent, the employees are all very nice and friendly. This definitely is one of my top 10 favorite restaurants.

  • Dan S.

Is it great food? No, but it's pretty good and the portions are ginormous, so you'll go home satisfied. They have kind of an odd little collection of entrees: pizza, various pastas, a few salads, and then ribs(?). Not just ribs, ribs with spaghetti or ribs with lasagna. Weird. Entrees come with a pretty decent salad and garlic bread. If I get the ribs combo I get 2 or 3 meals out of it, the portions are that big. Oh and the sammiches! HUGE and pretty tasty. The half sandwich is the size of everyone else's full, so you've been warned. It's fairly small and doesn't have what you would call a great atmosphere. If you're looking for something fancy or you're a food snob you should move on, but if you're just looking for a large tasty meal you're all set.

  • Lis M.

Count me in as another person who didn't know this place was light on the Greek food. When my supervisor at work said, "Hey, do you wanna go to Acropolis? Work's treating!" I was all excited at the prospect of Greek food. My stomach was totally geared up for pitas and hummus and grape leafs. I'd never been, or even driven by, so how could I have known? Needless to say within a few minutes of arriving we were disabused of that notion, but by then it was too late. Our drinks order had been taken. Nothing for it but to go ahead and order. The food is passable. The salad is ridiculous. (Sorry, I just have never liked iceberg lettuce salads.) The lasagna is tasty, although it will lie like a brick in your stomach for a few hours after. For what it is--ie. a pizza and pasta joint--it's okay. Nothing to write home about. Except for the name, they are utterly indistinguishable from any other pizza and pasta joint in the area. The portion sizes are huge, incidentally. You could feed small villages with their grinders and pasta dishes. (I'm on portion control at the moment though--so, um, ginormous portions? Not as big a draw as they might be.) The service is okay but could perhaps use a little work. The waitress messed up our order, and brought the wrong dish out for my coworker. I was left without a fork, and it took her a few moments to see about my water. However, once she noticed, she was very prompt at getting everything sorted out. (Everyone makes mistakes, so I'm inclined to not worry overmuch about it.) I don't know if I would ever go back on my own, but for free, on the company dime, it was okay. A lot of people may like it more than I would--it's just not what I was hoping for.

I freaking love this place. Its got a home town feel and the best comfort food around. I always get a canadian bacon grinder. I think the secret ingredient is mayonnaise but trust me, you won't care when you are eating one. Service is always top notch with the friendliest servers. Pizza is also pretty good but go for the grinders!

    (5)
  • Justin C.

The roast beef grinder is the best sandwich in Kirland. It is also the 3rd best sandwich in the state in my humble opinion (after Paseo and Meconis). I have only had the roast beef and pepperoni grinders and I just can't order anything else when I go there it is too good.

    (5)
  • Dusty P.

I will admit that I totally went here expecting some gyros, but as long as you are well aware of the fact that this is not a Greek restaurant, you'll enjoy it. I got a roast beef grinder for 7.50 and was astonished at how big it was. It was cut into 4 pieces and easily 2 sandwiches worth of food. So, basically you can spend 3.25 each for 2 people to eat here for a really good hot oven grinder that is seasoned perfectly. Entrees are considerably more expensive (11.95-15.95), but that's kind of par for the course for pasta joints. Obviously there will be many that get annoyed at expecting Greek food only to find that it's Italian, but you can't rate a place based on your expectation of what it was going to be when you walked in the door. You rate it on the quality of the food and service they offer and in this case, it's an easy 4 star. Great place.

  • Hope N.

Yummy cheesy pasta goodness. Definitely not good for you but satisfies the palate. The grinders are good and are large enough to share between two. Love the pastrami grinder. All the pastas covered in cheese are awesome. Had the chicken wings once but weren't all that great. The only thing I don't like about this place is the limited seating during lunch time and the not-so-romantic plastic cup atmosphere.

  • Q B.

I just spent $11.99 for a Caesar salad which consisted of wilted romaine lettuce, bad croutons some cheese and two pieces of bread slathered in some sort of canola oil. The lettuce was wilted, and the croutons tasted like they'd been sitting in storage for a while. I could have had a $10 dollar Caesar at The Metropolitan Grill that would have been a thousand times better. Don't spend your money on the salad! I guess I probably should have read the Yelp reviews first!

Tried takeout pizza from here and was impressed (crust not too thin, not too doughy). Toppings were decent, might double up on mushrooms next time. Good hot wings. Can't wait to try their grinders and I think they might even have calzones on the menu too.

  • C. C.

I enjoyed this place. I was here with a friend. We had a grinder and a salad. Great! The best part was watching the family who owned the place take care of everyone!

  • Rossana Y.

Ok so they don't serve actual Greek food here despite the name and the deceiving Greek font on the sign, but the food is not bad in terms of feeding yourself with lots of carbs. I shared a Greek pizza with a friend while my other friend had the BBQ chicken pizza. I guess it's called a Greek pizza if you throw in some feta cheese and olives in there, but it also had slices of tomatoes and overall it tasted pretty good. The BBQ chicken was aight but it could have had more BBQ sauce for better flavor. Service was decent enough and attentive. I'll have to try their grinders here next time since I hear they're pretty tasty and cheap.

The best lunch special in town! The best salad fresh, clean and crisp lettuce is hard find these days of white iceberg. Great grinders.

LOVE love love their sandwiches! The pizza's good, too, but not as good as their sandwiches, especially the veggie. YUM!

One word..........grinders! Best I have ever had. I have not tried any other food as I go their just for the grinders. The inside is pretty plain with no frills but the grinders are so good!

Its my tried and true lunch spot for a Grinder and a Beer. NEVER LET ME DOWN!! And the Greek style pizza's are the best around, you won't find a better lunch spot for the price. Also, get some Garlic bread from here if you are in a pinch and need some to take home for dinner.

I use food for more than nutritional sustenance. I'm what is often described as an "emotional eater." The best thing about Acropolis for me is that it doesn't matter what side of the emotional spectrum i'm on because every day, all day is the perfect day for one of their grinders. I was first introduced to their Pepperoni Grinder as a sophomore in high school, 1989. I'll never forget that experience. I remember my varsity soccer team had a night game in Bainbridge Island which is a long way from Kirkland. My teammate and I stopped by Acropolis to pick up a grinder for the trip. He suggested the Pepperoni Grinder and the rest is history. I've had a love affair with this place for the better part of the last 20 years. Same great grinders, same great service! Their pizza, pasta and salads are great as well. I hope Acropolis Pizza is around for as long as i'm alive.

Acropolis serves serious comfort food. I've been eating at Acropolis (previously "Athens") for more than thirty years. This family owned restaurant is our favorite place for lunch and dinner. Not only are the staff and service great, the grinders are heavenly. And, the price is right . The best menu item: Canadian baccon grinder. Over the decades, I've had may menu items. All have been good, but I crave the grinder. Lots of mayo and cheese with plenty of meat. Easy to find and worth driving out of your way for a great meal. I love this place!!

Good solid food and fine service. We stop here often for an early dinner and tonight was one of those times. Our server (Alime - maybe the owners daughter?) was the only server on the floor and handled the light traffic calmly and cheerfully. The prices are quite reasonable. We will continue to stop by.

I've driven by this place for years and never stopped in until recently. I ordered a pizza and I was very impressed. No, not the best pizza I've ever had, but well above average and good enough that I'd remember I had a decent meal. It was the middle of the afternoon and the place was packed with locals and that's always a good sign that I'm not the only one who likes this place. I'm definitely going back.

Absolutely the best roast beef sandwich ("grinder") in the area! Also authentic Italian dishes and pizza that is second to none. The staff is very nice bunch of mature individuals (ie not kids) that serve with style that suggests they love what they do.

Review #3 (in my quest for the best Greek meal) OK you would think that with a name like "Acropolis" this would have been a good choice for Greek food. I was so wrong. Sorry folks but the Greeks don't make good Pizza, the Italians do. And if you seek Greek food, you can do much better then this. Hell, I don't even recall if any Greek dishes even were on the menu. Greek salad does not count.

This place is sub-par at best. As a proud Italian-American I maintain low expectations of Mediterranean restaurants, but this was pretty bad. Undercooked bread, no ricotta in the lasagna and an improper sauce to noodle ratio, the wine tasted like it came from a box, and the meatballs were the kind you get frozen in a giant bag at Costco. For the money, I would have been better off eating Olive Garden.

Wow. I thought there would be Greek food here considering the name and the My Big Fat GREEK Wedding font used for the sign. Nope. Italian even though even the menu claims to have Greek food, there is none. The atmosphere is almost shameful. I took a look and the kitchen staff was all Hispanic. There is a disconnect there and it showed. I got the backed spaghetti with Marinara. The tomato sauce was undercooked and under seasoned. I was disappointed, only ate a few bites and threw the rest out. The Spumoni was pretty good though.

Ive ordered Grinders from this place before for lunch and went there with my boyfriend last weekend. The inside is ok and the food was good. Ive only ever had the Turkey grinder which is bomb but my boyfriend said his meatball grinder wasnt as good.

This is pretty good pizza! Its GREEK style so its a little different. My brother loves it, however I just prefer my pepperonis to be on top of the cheese. But the pizza is still good. Good prices, friendly, and great for families.

I could eat here every day. Family owned and run. Friendly, efficient staff. Laid back decor -- comfortable for me to stumble into in sweats and Crocs, as well as girls dressed up in their ho-heels. And the FOOD. A-MA-ZING baked pasta and grinders. Delicious Greek-style pizza. Everything is fresh, with high-quality flavorful ingredients. Excellent for take-out or eating in. Thank god for this place.

I ordered the Cannelloni and it was pretty good. The portion wasn't that big but adequate for the average person. I wish the dish had less sauce and more pasta. They have some interesting menu items like the bbq spareribs with spaghetti or lasagna? I gotta try that next time!

two words: TURKEY GRINDER. so unbelievably naughty and fattening, but good lord, so good. If you are having a craving for eating something bad for you, but oh so good... go. The turkey grinder came highly recommended to me, and it so didn't disappoint. Friendly family owned restaurant... right now they are on vacation for like a month! D'oh! UPDATE: does anyone know when it's re-opening from the vacation? I need one... stat.

  • NANCY H.

Their grinders are a foot long for $6.95 which means you can feed a family for that much! Really...try it! Bring the family and watch them wrap their little hands on some oozy dinner. Try the garlic bread, its a French loaf halved, smothered in garlic butter and toasted till golden brown. Accompany this with some canneloni or some mannicotti. I loved the sizes and the whole robustness of the place. Although, I do agree that there might be a tad over-saltiness problem which although can be tasty can also be an issue if you're watching the BP. So, come here if you like salty, gooey, cheesy, home style Italian dishes and want to support the locals while chatting it up with the very friendly waitress and intermittently stuffing your face. Good For: garlic bread, manicotti, meal after the game

My wife and I have been fans of Acropolis for years, but we only recently decided to give it a go for lunch. I totally forgot how much food you get for such a great price. The grinders are amazing and the meal is large and the tasty sauces plentiful. I've never figured out the whole Greek "Acropolis" theme that serves Italian food, but I'm not complaining. They do a great job. If you're hungry for Italian and near Kirkland, you'd be crazy not to stop in.

  • David G.

I have only lived in Kirkland for three months now, but we belive we have found the best pizza in the area. Acropolis offers a remarkable pizza experience. We usually order sausage, black olive, mushroom and jalapeno. They stack on the ingredients. This often leads to a mushy experience as the heavy ingredients make the pizza soggy. Most purveyors of pizza are parsimonious with the parts to prevent this problem. Not so at acropolis. Here the crust has a delightful crunch on the bottom and the ingredients always delight both in flavor and mouth feel. On top of everything else, it is cheaper than anyone else around. No joke.

  • Jeny R.

I have eaten here a couple times now, both have been for a company lunch. I have been the one organizing the lunch both times. Acropolis from start to finish was awesome to work with and made getting 26 sandwiches for 26 very picky people very smooth. I called and the man I spoke with said I could fax my orders in which made it super easy. After that he called me back with a total. I told them what time I needed all the sandwiches and he was super accommodating. I only had to give them a days advance notice. The day of the lunch I went in to pick the sandwiches up and everything was ready on time. The restaurant has a no check policy but they totally let my company pay with one because we are a repeat customer. Made things easier on us and also made me feel very valued as a customer. One of the employees helped me carry all the sandwiches. Everyone at the lunch was very happy with their food. I will be a return customer for my company and by myself. The sandwiches are awesome! I had the roast beef and its so flavorful!

I ate here last weekend on the advice of a friend and I was pleasantly surprised! Try to look past the dated, diner-like interior and try their grinders. I had the vegetarian sandwich and I'm hooked; I will definitely be back for lunch. We also ordered a few pizzas: I believe the one I had was the Greek (or some such vegetarian pizza with feta cheese as a topping)...delicious! I highly recommend it for a casual meal.

Stop reading this right now. You don't want to go to this restaurant. It's salty, fatty, mayo covered, nitrate filled, and oh so orgasmically good. It's where you go when you want to feel bad about yourself. When you want a lunch bigger than your head. When you want your coworkers to wander down the hall asking who got what smells so good. Plus the family that owns it are really cool. It's a great big Greek family who are friendly as all get out. Picture My Big Fat Greek wedding crossed with a giant pot of molten hot cheesy ravioli. The grinders are phenomenal (go for the pepperoni), and the pastas are great as long as they're cheese smothered (don't go for plain ol' spaghetti). Seriously, avoid this at all costs. I just polished off a (full.. oy) grinder and I can barely lean forward to type this. It's better to pretend this review never existed.

I've never had a grinder that I didn't like and trust me, I've tried a lot of them. All are so great and although I haven't had one in awhile, I'm sure it hasn't changed!

  • Frankie C.

It's the grinders, stupid!!!!! Ok, I know the name is deceiving. I know you expect spanakopita and gyros. Leave your expectations at the door, and go enjoy some of the best grinders (italian toasted subs) and garlic cheese bread. What about their pizza, pasta, and other foods? What about the McD-level atmosphere? Who cares!!! This place is known by the locals for the grinders, nothing else.

    (5)
  • Shep G.

This place is good. Grinders like they have in New England, and they are pretty damn busy too! They are just west of Kinko's on the main drag going into Kirkland....everything here is good....comfort food, pizza house style....support family owned businesses!!!!

    (4)
  • Bryan W.

I too was under the impression that an establishment called "Acropolis" would offer Greek food. Instead, the offerings ranged from pizza (I never knew the Greek's made pizza and after having a pie, I knew why) to Italian dishes. It wasn't all that exciting.

  • J J.

If you want a really yummy, gooey, bad for your waistline, good for your tummy lunch- this is the place to get it. Something so poetic about a mixture of Greek/Italian food. Get a half of a sandwich (which looks like a whole, seriously like 6 inches) and a salad and you will see Jesus Christ....seriously. He came to my table and told me about the meaning of life. (Some secrets I will not share, however) Get yourself there and find out for yourself!

I really love this place! It's one of the better pizza and pasta joints on my the eastside by far! Maybe the best if not, it's a real close second away. The atmosphere has a nice Greek restaurant feel to it. The food is great! We ordered cheese bread and I had their chicken Parmesan and my dad had the ravioli and we both loved it. They serve bread with your meal and a lot of it. The location is great and the food is as well! I've heard great things about their signature sandwiches and pizza as well! Check it out!

I was looking to try some place different when my boyfriend and stopped in last night for dinner. The place was fairly busy which is usually a good sign. Right off the bat I was struck by how limited the menu was and some of the combos were perplexing to say the least. BBQ Spareribs and lasagna??? My b/f order a small pizza and I settled for the baked lasagna which comes with a dinner salad and garlic bread. I don't expect much from a dinner salad but iceberg lettuce and croutons only? Not even ONE tomato? C'mon! Oh well, I will just save room for the good stuff. MY lasagna arrived piping hot and smothered in baked on gooey cheese; always a good start but once I dug underneath I discovered that the only resemblance to any lasagna that I have ever had was the noodles. This was nothing but overcooked lasagna noodles drowning in marinara sauce. No layering of ingredients and no ricotta cheese. The sauce wasn't bad at all but also nothing to write home about. It tasted like what I would expect to find on a children's menu at a diner. Very bland and totally lacking in any depth of flavors. My b/f's said his pizza was "pretty good" but not as good as he remembered it being 5 years ago when he came with his daughter for lunch. I saw a ton of grinders being served so apparently that is their claim to fame. I shall have to try one of those if I come back but considering this area is packed full of little hole in the wall Italian restaurants with much better food I doubt I will be back. For my money I would rather go to Pegasus Pizza & Pasta or Cafe Veloce. Both of which I have been to many times and have never been disappointed. The one really bright spot of the evening was the service. The wait staff is very friendly and very attentive. I noticed several of the other patrons calling them by name so this must be a place that people come to repeatedly. I just fail to see why.

It is all about the sammies here...my favorite is the pepperoni with light mayo!!!!!!!!!!! MAN is it GOOD. Can't really think of any other place with a sammie as good...

    (5)
  • Joshua M.

I found the peperoni pizza we ordered to be overly salty. My wife's turkey grinder wasn't too bad (a bit overloaded with mayo). The service was alright. The interior decor of the place was desperate for a makeover. I doubt I'd be yearning to go back.

Get a grinder, or pizza, or both (done it before), they are all good. Pitchers are reasonable as well.

Oh my. Wow. I've never had Italian food this good in my life, and that's saying something. RIBS ON LASAGNA??! Is this real life!? The manicotti is to die for. The ribs and chicken on pasta are #killer. I'm in heaven.

Holy Cold Cuts! I can not stop eating the cold cut grinder which, for $8.99, is one of the best values you will find just about anywhere. This sandwich is a full 16 inches of toasty goodness with three different kinds of meats sliced and layered underneath melted cheese, freshly shredded lettuce, and a slathering of mayo to top it all off. You really don't need anything else to go with it although I have been known to get a side salad to make a it a full meal and then take half the sandwich home. Acropolis is located right across from crazy sounding Kirkland's Peter Kirk Park and is also real close to all the downtown shopping and Marina Park as well. They do have a private parking lot although there is no lack of parking spaces in the surrounding area as well so no worries there. The staff here is super friendly and always on top of taking care of everyone who walks in the door. They have tons of regulars, at least from what I've seen, so you know this place is a local institution and beloved by many. During my last visit, I almost ordered their legendary ribs and lasagna combo, but couldn't resist getting the grinder once again so that crazy sounding dish will have to wait for another day. I hear their pizzas are also really good so look for an update some time down the road with more info on their other menu items.

I had heard Acropolis served good pizza so after living in Kirkland for umpteen years I finally tried it out. We had the Acropolis Pizza and the manicotti for dinner. The pizza was great! Nice balance of meat, cheese and veggies, and the crust wasn't too thick but had the right amount of crunch for my liking. Feta would have been a good addition to this, we'll try it next time. The manicotti seemed about average. We had the meat sauce on top but would have preferred the plain marinara sauce in retrospect. The location is also ideal! Far enough from downtown so that you can park pretty easily but only a 5 min walk from the waterfront. If you have kids, there's a great playground across the street you can visit after dinner. All in all we had lovely service and will be back for pizza again someday!

I've been eating Canadian bacon grinders from this establishment since I was in Juanita high school - yep, that'd be 1978, back when the place was called 'Athens'. A few management changes back and forth later, and almost 40 years, they are still the great family run restaurant, great service, food and atmosphere. Honestly I think i've only strayed one time from the grinder and that was some wonderful lasagna we had on a late saturday night. The foot long grinder is a very fulfilling meal, the sauce, the meat, the warm crusty bread scraping the roof of your mouth, mmmm, i want one now! Oh, i did do something different last time - I ADDED MUSHROOMS omg do that if your pocketbook allows..... And they have the most easily remembered phone number in the VanDyke exchange (you old Kirklandi remember the days when phone numbers started with VA7 or VA2, yes? No? VA=vandyke=82 on the keypad, oops sorry bout the rabbitrail) its 8272727! Call ahead and get a grinder! I've never had one better, so its as good as it gets in my book, and thats 5 stars.

When you need a sandwich w/o the glutens then it's all 'bout that chef's salad! Lots of meats and cheese and fixins and a little bit of lettuce underneath. That's how a salad's done, folks. I came in pretty hungry and I hardly put a dent in this thing. Made for some good leftovers the next day too (dressing on the side. always). Pretty busy here during a weekday at lunch but service was super quick and our waitress was a doll. I'll be back!

  • Tami H.

After reading all these reviews, I probably need to try the grinders! I love Acropolis for take-out -- they have great pasta, Greek-style pizza, and salads and amazing service. I highly recommend their 1/2 chicken (baked in lasagna is yummy). My kids love their raviolis and garlic bread. My only tip is to be clear on whether you want regular spaghetti/raviolis or baked. If baked, they come submerged in cheese so it totally depends which style you prefer. Also, order extra meatballs as they are amazing! Everyone at Acropolis is super helpful and friendly. A great local place!

I have tried pasta, grinders and pizza (oh plus the garlic bread) so far. I only now order the pizza because it is very good. Reminds me of Chicago style but it's greek so different. Even the next day it is yummy. We go here once a month. The atmosphere is strangely comfy. It reminds me of an old IHop restaurant but more comfortable for sure.

FOOD: I've tried the pastrami oven grinder ($7.50) and oven baked lasagna ($10.95). I enjoyed the oven grinder and would definitely come back to try another oven grinder! The baked lasagna was average, nothing out of the ordinary. To be honest, it tasted like it could be from a can... not much flavor and noodles were a bit on the soft side for me. SERVICE: There weren't many customers when I arrived so the waitress was only serving us. Not much else to say. PRESENTATION: The restaurant did not have much lights on, maybe it was a sunny day. It was dark but did not have a dark atmosphere if you know what I mean. Many booths available. LOCATION: On the main street, make sure to pay attention to signs if you are not familiar with the area. Its a building on its own and the parking lot wraps around the store. Plenty of parking, but if it does get busy, free street parking is also available. WOULD I COME BACK: to try their pizza and other oven grinder sandwiches! ADVICE: get a sandwich!!

We tried Acropolis again recently. A Chicken Parm Grinder, and a Pastrami Grinder. It's just one of those places that the smell inside the restaurant with all of the fresh baked breads/Italian sauces and herbs outweighs the actual taste. Probably my last visit.

  • Linda P.

We came in for grinders which are delicious. We love the cold cut but I also enjoy the chicken parm. The pizza is also amazing. Our favorite is the Acropolis. The crust is a little soggier than other pizzas but still very good. Very flavorful It's Greek pizza, not Italian. The staff is so sweet and helpful. We've even been at off times and they are always attentive. The only disappointing dish is their pasta especially the spaghetti. It tastes so average, nothing spectacular. Stick to the pizza and grinders and you'll be happy. We come back about once a week and will continue until the close!

  • Aprameya R.

I've lost count of the number of times I've ordered from Acropolis. It is very close by and the reason it is that four stars is the consistency. The food, over the last three years, has been consistently good. That in my book is worth four stars. As to what is good, the Greek Pizza is excellent. The grinders are really good. I would suggest getting one and eating it over two meals because it is just that much food. The wife says that the spaghetti is good too. Over all, it is a neighbourhood joint, still going strong, unhealthy but just good comfort food.

Super yummy pizza. I love how the top and the bottom are the perfect amount of crispy. Generous quality ingredients. Staff is always nice and people seems to also enjoy the other items on the menu.

Visiting Kirkland and picked the Acropolis based on the reviews. We had a meatball grinder and Acropolis pizza. The grinder was ok. The bread was nicely toasted, but the meatballs are sliced thin - needed more meat. The pizza was good, but not great. Service was excellent. We agreed we'd eat there again if convenient, but we won't go out of our way for them.

Such a great experience here! They were the nicest people ever. The servers seemed to be genuinely interested in you. The chefs salad was great as was the grinder. Highly recommend for the friendly service not found in many places anymore, not to mention the food. Don't go expecting a gyro though, mostly Italian food on the menu.

The wings are amazing! The grinders are delicious and everything is a great price. We usually order to go over the phone and never have to wait long for our order to be ready. The atmosphe inside seems very family friendly. Parking does get tight on the weekends so watch out!

one word, GRINDERS. it's a statement when the wait staff all wear shirts that say "home of the grinder" it's the only thing i have gotten from here. I live and work close by so i've been here a few times during lunch and if you don't get in before 11:45, then i hope you have an hour lunch, because it is always very busy and you might have trouble finding a seat after 12, though people generally eat and leave pretty quick! the lunch special is great though, soup/salad and half a grinder of your choice. i personally always get the pastrami w/ jalapenos. dinner here looks like it can get pretty busy as well, i always do take-out since i live so close. between my girlfriend and i, for our small 2 person order, the food is always done when they say it will be, staff have always been courteous and very fast. My girlfriend usually gets some form of pasta and she has never had any bad things to say about it. I've always gotten a full grinder and had left-overs for lunch the next day.

This place is amazing! I've been going here for the past 12 years and they are always consistent with their food and service. I haven't lived in the area for the past 7 years but every time I am home to visit I have to have acropolis. I've tried several things on their menu but my go-to is the Turkey Grinder with a side salad. You will not be disappointed by any of their food. Try their BBQ Chicken pizza too, so good!

Deeeeelicious!!! My mom helped run the former Athens whem it opened for several years. I have such wonderful memories ... im back in the area and thrilled to know the family that owned Athens and sold it took it back in the 90's and today the food is just as i remember. -Grinders, my fav Ham is the best in the US. -Pizza, great crust, not greasy, wonderful sauce. Not overloaded so you can taste each element. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

They call it italian style. It's their version of it, and it's a winner. I had never had their pizza until recently, even though their cold cut grinder has been my unflinching favorite for years, so we decided to order one in addition to our grinder to share. The grinder came out first. Split into two portions and it was still huge and daunting. The bread is perfectly crusty, and then just when you thought it couldn't get better, you pull your mouth away from the grinder after having taken a bite, and the symphony of flavors from the toasted bread, meats, crisp lettuce... I couldn't help but close my eyes when I took my first bite. Absolute heaven. While I had planned to save some for later, I devoured it and showed no mercy. Then the pizza came. At first it looked like an ordinary pizza, bubbly cheese and brightly colored veggies among meat landmines. Mmmmmm admit it, meat landmines sound amazing. It was unlike any other ipizza 've had. Unlike traditional crusts, this one isn't chewy, but instead has the perfect amount of bite and crunch, which reveals a soft inner core of freshly baked pizza dough. The toppings were crisp and easy to bite into. I had no complaints. The service was very friendly, and attentive. The parking is on site, although trying to make a left out of the parking lot while leaving can be jarring. There are tables as well as booths for seating, and the ambiance is fitting of a pizza and pasta parlor.

Have been coming here for over two years now. I always order the veggie grinder because it is the bomb. The waitress said I should try the pizza, so I ordered the vegetarian pizza. The tomato slices on top were not ripe and it has too heavy of an oregano flavor. So I'm sticking with qmy veggie grinder. Service was excellent as usual.

Mmhmm, this is hands down my favorite pizza/sandwich shop around. the pastrami and Turkey grinders are to DIE for, and the Greek pizza tops my list as one of my all time favorites. add to this the fact that it's completely family owned and operated, plus they are nice as hell, and you honestly can't go wrong here. the pricing is more than fair, and most the time there jus ample parking and seating (note: MOST). portions are large, and the atmosphere inside is warm, inviting, and reminds me a mix between old school pizza parlors and a Greek TGIFs (but much less cluttered and overwhelming, and more tasteful) If you've never been here but love subs and pizza, give it a shot. I honestly believe you'll walk away extremely impressed, and stuffed to boot :)

We've been going to Acropolis for their grinders and pizza for 20+ years. (Not a chain... not that chains can't be good) Grinders will be good for 2 meals unless you're a really big eater... I judge my pizza on the cheese they use... Acropolis has real cheese that gets stringy. Bad pizzas will use processed cheese that melts but doesn't get stringy...

  • Ali W.

After binge-watching The Sopranos and ogling over delicious-looking Italian food, my boyfriend and I were craving some homey delicious Italian food. We passed up fancier places bc that's not what we wanted. Acropolis had great reviews indicating it was consistently good. John had lasagna with spare ribs which was mediocre at best. The ribs were tough and over-cooked, he only ate 2. My lasagna didn't even have ricotta cheese in it. It was just noodles and bland marinara (which tasted like it came from a can) with cheese on top. Meh at best, I felt mislead by the reviews. Will not go back.

I was able to call in at 11 and make sure our small Greek pizza was ready by 12. It was and thankfully got seating because this place gets packed for lunch. It was my first time there and I'm glad I know about it. The small pizza fed me and my friend, two pretty petite girls. Definitely will go back here. Also beware of the parking lot it creeps up and is usually packed. I definitely suggest street parking.

I've been going here since attending at Lake Washington High School, back in the late 70's. It was called Athens Pizza & Pasta back then, and my best friend and I would book it down there at lunch time to get a grinder and chow it down and get back to our 5th period class on time. Their grinders are still bomb.com and their service is great, makes you feel like you are in a small town America. We pick up the grinders to go and take them to the M's games...

When I describe what growing up was like, I think of this place! It was always the thing to get to eat! Turkey grinders of course! I hated mayo... and still do for the most part. However, their mayo is magical! I have no idea what's in their special mayo... nor do I want to know... All I know is that biting into this grinder has my taste buds ringing! The bread is ever so light and fluffy but still has a nice crisp to it! Recently came here to try their baked spaghetti and my niece LOVES anything that involves noodles.. Boy, did she love this dish! She especially liked it with the baked on cheese that gets crispy... Okay so maybe it's me that especially liked this! .. A little bit of that in each bite, and oh dear! It's extremely enjoyable. Pizza- well I'm not really a fan of it.. a little too doughy, a little too greasy.. I'm more of a thin crust type of gal! Now the negatives... service.. sorry, but it's just slow and not that pleasant.. It's okay though, I'm still a fan of the food. Also, I definitely consider this place a more of a fast food place.. but that's just my 2 cents! Oh and the Greek salad dressing... it's just super oil.. maybe there's a dash of vinegar but it didn't taste like it at all!

I really have no idea how this place has such a high rating. They don't even make their own tomato sauce. The service was good, but the food was disappointing. Hubby and I left feeling ill afterward, but didn't get food poisoning, at least.

I am also surprised to see such high reviews? The service was ok and the place felt really homely and average. I always enjoy the theme of a restaurant so I appreciated the Greek thing for an Italian like restaurant. I had the spaghetti and it was a bit tasteless. I also had it with mushrooms and they were just sliced mushrooms, not cooked specially or even sautéed to give it any flavor so it didn't add to the bland negative void that my mouth was fighting. Our waitress gave it an effort and it looks like family working behind the counter. Yes, I am sure all the guys are fans of the girl cashier as she is very cute but pretty lifeless other than that. Kids will be kids and it showed that they really was just helping the family business and didn't want to actually do it. I would understand the community helping a family business and giving better reviews I guess but, the food quality and experience was OK so, I can't give it another star. Perhaps next time I will try the pizza and see if that's the reason why they are rated so well?

Wow such high reviews... Haven't had the pizza, but it looks good and I want to try it. Everyone at work raves about how awesome their grinders are. Every grinder I have had has been plain jane to the max. Just bread, a little bit of meat, mayo, and lettuce. Not sure what all the fuss is about. The one thing I will say, the bread does a number on the mouth. It took three days for my mouth to heal after sustaining all of the puncture wounds and lacerations dolled out by the crust of the bread. Pretty expensive, I think my bill was around 12 bucks for just the sandwich if i remember correctly. i got a little bit of chips with the order and water.

For all the rave reviews from friends locally, I thought the grinder I had was just okay. Further research needed.

Pretty good but nothing amazing or special to point out. The service was great and the grinders we had were on par with what I have always experienced. The portion sizes are pretty big so come hungry. Tip: Since the grinders are so big and come cut, you and a friend should each order something different so you can try two different grinders.

I have gone here many times. The staff is always courteous and efficient whether I order take out or dine in. By far their best product is the pastrami sandwich. Great sauce, perfect bread paring, huge portion for the price. Also their pizza and garlic cheese bread are fantastic. Not the most healthy selections, but can't be beat for a guilty pleasure meal.

I love this place. It is perfect for cozy comfort food that feels like it could be made at a family dinner. The prices are great and you get a lot of food- Entrees come with salad and garlic bread as well. The staff is always friendly and the service is very quick.

The salad I got was small, basic, and expensive. I get that this isn't their specialty so I'm sure I'll go back for a grinder and will update my review at that time.

Great pizza and grinders. There is not a full bar but a small selection of beer and wine. If you're looking for great food and great service with no thrills. This is the place! It's definitely worth the trip.

I always get the shrimp salad (think prawns. Fresh, cold and yummy) with their homemade ranch dressing (all of their dressings are homemade), but the grinders are really really good. The people who work there are always kind and smiling. Parking can be tough, but it's worth it.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
