Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

When I'm craving for some Mediterranean food, this is my go to place. The interior takes you on a journey to the Mediterraneans. Food: Uber delicious! Docked off a star because it was a bit salty but edible enough. Service: One of the best, the staff are friendly and very quick. Definitely a must try if you haven't been here.

The meat was tough and for the most part over cooked. The hummus was over spiced. The tzatziki (sp?) was watery. The bread was a bit rubbery but that could have been because we ordered to go. The baklava was average, on par with Costco baklava. I MIGHT give them another chance in person, but I highly doubt that I would ever order to go again. It's hard to tell what was poor preparation and during the 20 min it took to get back to Fed Way. I kind of wished I'd put more faith in the reviews that state the place has gone downhill a bit. Bottom line: $ greek food for $$ price... "Meh"

I'm not a huge fan of Greek food in general, but this place is just okay. I have only tried their normal gyro for lunch, they smother it with the dressing on top so the pita on the bottom gets pretty soggy quickly. The flavors aren't really exciting, when biting into my food I like thinking "oh man this tastes good" & this place is definitely underwhelming when it comes to flavor profile. The thing that turns me off the most is all the flies that buzz around. The seating area is full of them. They tend to leave the front door open to leave some air flow throughout the restaurant but if you have dozens of flies buzzing around your customers while they're eating you should probably close the door. It's not a dirty place, I just am not a fan of flies around my head or around my plate when I'm eating.

Came here on a Sunday night for dinner, and it didn't seem too busy at the time. Our waitress was pretty friendly, and gave us recommendations. After she took our order, we didn't really see her until we were ready for the bill. However, it did seem like she was the only waitress that night. I tried the souvlaki with beef, and my boyfriend had the souvlaki dinner platter with chicken. The difference is that the souvlaki is arranged more like an open-faced gyro, while the dinner platter comes with salad on its own, and you get a choice of rice pilaf or Greek fries. I would probably get the dinner platter next time, because I prefer everything separated, plus the Greek fries were addicting! Definitely recommend getting the Greek fries. I would also get the chicken or even try the lamb instead, because I thought the beef tenders were a little too gristly.

Great quality Greek Food! I have been there many times and I have referred my friends there. I like most of the waiters too. The atmosphere is relaxed and dim.
(5)Scott P.
I have been eating Greek since I was a kid and this place is one of the best I have ever had! I went there around 1 PM on a Tue and there were only two other people there the girl serving was really nice and helpful. I had the lunch special of the Gyro and Greek salad. The food came out quick and the meat O the meat it was so moist and flavorful no prepackaged stuff here home made for sure! The potato's were fried perfect and seasoned well. The salad was so fresh and everything was really good. I can't wait to go back it was $10 for lunch but a normal person would have split the mean it two it was very large. Great job Spiro's

My boyfriend and I got two gyro wraps for dinner over the weekend and they were SOOOO GOOD!!! They were, hands down, some of the best gyros I've ever had. I ordered them to go and they were ready when I showed up 15 minutes later. We got them home, opened the container, and they were gigantic! Chock full of delicious gyro meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. There was just the right amount of feta and tzatziki sauce slathered all over the top as well. Every bite was like heaven. I was beyond stuffed when I was done. I am dreaming of the next time I have one.....gyroooo......nom nom nom.......
(5)Terry W.
Loved this place. Attentive, friendly service and the gyro/salad lunch plate was LOADED with food, but most importantly was very tasty and authentic. Nice little find in sleepy downtown Kent.
(4)Ashley M.
Get the Gyro platter with fries. Hummus and extra pita instead of the salad. =) mmmm. Extra of all the sauces that come with it and a sample of every sauce tzarziki hummus and vinaigrette Absolutely delicious! The best gyro meat and pita ever! Even better is their sauce!!!! I've never had another sauce that is so good! I'm addicted! The meat is so tender and high quality! Try the gyro platter!

Stopped in here, around 9:30pm on a Friday night, for a late dinner with my man. The restaurant itself is in an older building and a little run down. The server said we could sit wherever we liked (there was only one other couple in there), so we chose the window seat. While waiting to order a bug flew up to my eye and landed on the inside of my glasses. I got it off of me but then noticed several other dead bugs in the window sill...not what you want to see at a restaurant, or anywhere for that matter. But I pretended like it didn't bother me and didn't complain because I knew my boyfriend wanted to eat here. We both ordered the Gyro Wrap and enjoyed them. The pita was stuffed full of meat, which was very tender and flavorful. It had just the right amount of tzatziki sauce. The bread itself was warm and soft. However, I wish it had more chopped tomatoes on it. Overall, the flavor of the food, was a solid 4.5 stars. If I go back I'll choose a table away from the window.

Two times I've had the pleasure of dining here. Very good food and excellent service. The gyros lunch specials offer a very meaty and tasty lunch. We arrived at 11:30, and the place was empty, but by the time we left it was bustling with business.I can't imagine them having any difficulty being very successful.
(5)Michelle M.
We'll be back! EXCELLENTLY pitas, mine a veggie with falafel and tzatziki. My spouse enjoyed the gyro w meat, beef and lamb. Hers was wonderful and very flavorful
(5)Melanie P.
Love this place. It's located across the way from Wild Wheat Bakery in DT Kent. There's some tables set up outside the restaurant for outdoor seating when warm. The interior is rich in wood. Gives a warm comfort feeling, which I like. Service is great and the food is superb. Always a fan of the lamb gyro and greek salad. They have great lunch specials too. The Greek iced tea is a must have... very delicious. I enjoy grabbing a meal here and heading to Wild Wheat after for some dessert ;)

We come here on occasion for lunch and are never disappointed. Years ago, the food seemed somewhat better, but I think that the original owners bowed out. Even if I think it's less than what it was, I still find it very good. I will come back to scratch my souvlaki itch again and again.

The atmosphere is a little corny, with fake fruit and plastic vines in various places and their seating and over all look is outdated but I am not eating the tables or the fake fruit. This restaurant consistently serves the best Greek food in the area. They are always busy, every time I go there, and regardless of the somewhat kitschy feel, their wait staff is top notch and when you take a bite of their food, you'll find yourself transported to a little hole in the wall in Greece, where all the locals go to get their daily helping of classics like Skordaila with pita (a garlic potato dip with thin breed like dipping triangles) or a bowl of Avgolemono (a Greek version of chicken and rice soup where the addition of lemon adds zest and rounds out the flavor) that warms the heart and makes life worth living again. Above all, I am, and have always been, about the food a restaurant serves, and this locally-owned and operated, downtown-Kent establishment is a gem, hidden among aging buildings and downtown bustle. There are countless dishes that are worth trying, the Greek fries, the Chicken Slovaki Salata (Greek chicken salad), the Appetizer Platter (various dipping sauces, feta cheese squares, veggies, pita and dolmadakia- rice wrapped in grape leaves, amazing!) or one of their comfort-food, casserole-like creations: Moussaka (squash, potatoes and beef) or Pastitsio (noodles, beef and béchamel). Stop in, take a load off, find a favorite dish and stay awhile, just like in Greece, the pace slows down and this place makes you remember what it means to be human, how it feels to fall in love, and what truly-great-food tastes like.
(5)Christine M.
I discovered this restaurant 17 years ago when I moved to Kent. When I worked in Kent, this was my favorite lunch spot. I love Greek salads and their salads are to die for!! I also love the pita bread with the tzatziki sauce. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays a whole bottle of wine is half price with any 2 dinner entrees. Sweet deal!! If you are hungry for wonderful Greek food, this is the place!!
(5)Samantha Q.
Never had Greek food other than gyros had the pleasure of dabbling into the wine selection too. Was kinda of upset they didn't have lamb so I had to go for beef :/. Service was pretty swell made sure my uncle and I were satisfied. All in all I won't be surprised finding myself in here again.
(4)Amanda M.
Absolutely love this place. After spending a year in Greece, my husband and I were look for a good Greek place to help get our fix. We always get the Gyro Platter to share and some Mythos. It's perfect! The Skordalia is on point too. We eat here every time we see a T-birds game which is quite often! We can't get enough!
(5)Ryan W.
Beef was very bland. The meat from the spit was flavorful, but the beef cubes and rice did not hove much flavor. Stick with the gyros and it will be worth it.
(3)Monica F.
This place has gone downhill. I've been going here for 20+ years and it seems to change hands frequently. Tonight I brought my family out but I received the "booby trap" when my dish of moussaka was inedible. The bechamel sauce was not the usual creamy texture but a stringy mess what seemed like uncooked egg. I almost threw up when I swallowed the first bite. My daughter mentioned it to the waitress who offered to cook the dish longer but how can you fix a dish like this by warming it up. I ended up bringing it home to feed the ground beef to my dog. I paid the bill $100 for a family of four. On the way out, it appear the entire staff watched me leave as if I was some evil person for paying for food I couldn't eat....this will end the two decades of being a customer here as I will not come back.
(2)Sarah Y.
I HIGHLY recommend coming here to eat. Its low key relaxing and once in a while youll see a belly dancer on the weekends :D Found out about this place through my bf and the gyros, salad, rice, drinks, food, is to die for ;9 love the dressing on the salad its tangy yet zesty with the cheese and cute lil tomatoes mmm then the meat is juicy, filling, well seasoned, and overall mouthgasm. ate there not too long ago and still makes my mouth water to grab my gyros wrap and nom nom nom it down... haha
(5)Dennis M.
It's hard to say what's going on with this business. We got in sat down ordered a drink. The next thing you know they told us that they didn't have any lamb for the Gyros. They told us to wait and said that it be only 20 minutes and that their manager was running to get the lamb from Renton. So we waited and waited. So my wife asks about how much longer it's going to take to get the lamb. So then they say they're very sorry but no lamb for our party tonight. Bogus. They must be under new management this is not the place I remember. We left. One star.
(1)Kristi B.
Complete failure all together. Wrong order. Horrible service, too expensive for such a bad time. Never coming back.waitress rolled her eyes at when they got my order wrong a third time. Got food before appetizers. Manager made excuses for servers bad attitude. Bussers kept interrupting meal to offer boxes. Used to be a great place, gone down hill in all aspects.
(1)Valerie K.
What a disappointment! There's a different Spiro's in Port Orchard that I love! This one was terrible. My salad was drowning in salty dressing. I don't mind salt, but this was disgusting. It also had ONE olive and ONE slice of cucumber. They were out of lamb. A Greek place out of lamb. They also got my entree wrong, never filled up our water glasses, and didn't check on us all evening. I think it's amazing when servers can remember an order without writing it down. Obviously, this waitress should write it down. The food with my wrong entree was mediocre. I do not recommend that anyone eat at this sad, joyless establishment. Gah! What a waste.

I'm glad Kent has a Greek restaurant worth driving to. I have a coworker who raves about this place so I had to check it out. I found lots of street parking near the restaurant. I was given a special lunch menu along with a regular menu. I chose the gyro sandwich which came with Greek salad and fries. I substituted the lamb and beef for chicken. It was only a $1 extra. After I ordered I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. I made a little chuckle to myself when I saw the free mouthwash next to the sink. It makes sense. Nobody likes the smell of garlicy, oniony, feta cheesy breath. My Greek salad was crispy fresh. My fries were cooked to perfection. My chicken gyro was delicious. The music in the background was energetic and fun. It was a great lunch.
(4)Kyrie B.
The food is good and the service is friendly. But I cant help but feel it might be a little dated and they may need to do some basic repairs. All the lights kept flickering throughout our meal.
(3)Jackie G.
They participate at cornocopia days in front of their restaurant in Kent. They were outside because it was Cornocopia Days in Kent Wa the weekend I stopped by. I ordered my usual greek favorite..the gyro. It was okay far as a gyro goes. Price for the event was $6.75 and I ordered a glass of Greek Iced Tea for $2 which was pretty tasty. I'm still looking for a gyro that's better than the gyro from my usual place in 'The Commons Mall'. This is pretty close only it's smaller which was fine. I was hungry and it was good. I asked for them to slice the meat fresh off the heat allowing for some of the meat ends to be crisp. It has the onions, tomatoes, lettuce, tzatziki and feta. The feta comes with it instead of charging you extra which some places do. I would eat their gyro again if I go to the future Cornocopia Days event and they participate.
(4)Diane U.
I've been going to Spiro's since 1995. It's one of my favorite restaurants. The open faced gyros are to die for. Add some taramasalata with homemade pita and Greek iced tea to complete your meal. You won't be disappointed!!
(5)Unwanted H.
Love the food wish they could not charge as much as they do I eat there more often if the prices were not sky high. Charging for freaking taziki sauce should be a crime btw for peats sakes! I have been coming there for years. The belly dancing if they still do it is fun The soups are decent and the calamari is good.
(4)Rebecca B.
I have had good experiences every time I have visited and have taken food home each time as well! I enjoy their greek salad, the pita is super addicting, the flaming cheese is fun to watch and tastes delicious too. I normally get the gyro plate and the greek "fries" are so crisp and delicious with the garlic and feta! I wish I lived closer so I could go more often!
(4)Alexis J.
We went to Spiros tonight. I must say that it was less than stellar. We started out with one of the main entrees not being available. They ran out at lunch. The soup came out a little on the cool side and not at all flavorful. I ordered moussaka and had to return it because it was not hot. Then I started to eat it and was not impressed. The eggplant was chewy and the meat was not seasoned well. The accompanying side dishes were marginal. I was at a loss at identifying the tomato sauce covered vegetables. The spanakopita we ordered was half way decent however the grilled chicken was fatty and the whole plate was drowning in tzatziki. On a high note the salad was terrific. One of the best dressings I have tasted and we bought a bottle to take home. The staff was also very pleasant and efficient.
(2)Alexis M.
This place is great! I always get the savalki, which is chicken with potato fries. So yummy. Also served with a Greek sauce and pita bread! Lunch time is the best, same food better prices.
(5)Lonny T.
I have friends who occasionally visit from Pasco. Whenever they do, they always eat here. The open faced gyro is fantastic. A little slice of greek heaven. It just doesn't get any better.
(5)Kathleen D.
Food and atmosphere are great! Service, not so much! Go for lunch, not dinner. Seems like there is only 1 main waiter for dinner service and he is more interested in flirting with waitresses than earning awesome tips. Even served tables who came in AFTER us OUR appetizers! Boo! Falafel salad, Greek wine, Greek lemonade, baklava...all yummy!!! Not a fan of the Mousakka, but maybe that's just me. Gyros are STUFFED with meat--very generous portions. Wish wait staff was more attentive.
(3)Lori S.
Great food, good service, and there's belly dancers on Friday & Saturday nights!
(5)Ben B.
Ehh it was okay... Not the best Greek food in the area but a serviceable establishment. 3 beers on tap full bar.
(3)John F.
The best gyros I've had in the northwest. Food is great wait staff is nothing to write about. Service can be slow on busy days. Value is good. This is in my lunch rotation
(3)Rachel H.
My favorite Greek restaurant by far!
(5)Laura S.
This has been one of my favorite resturants for many years. It is also a favorite of many people I know. I love the lamb platter with greek fries. Very tasty! The staff has always been friendly, but at times service can be slow (even when there are not many people dining). If you are wanting a quiet evening with conversation, Friday nights are not the best. They have belly dancing. It is a fun time, but the music is loud and the resturant is very busy. They also will allow you to call in orders for take out which I do offten when I get my Spiro's craving. There is street parking available, but can fill up during busy times. There is a larger parking lot not too far south of the resturant.
(4)Daina H.
Went to this place for the first time last weekend... I've been back twice since then to take home gyros. I have never been a fan of lamb but my fiancé loves it so I suggested we check it out. I'm addicted. The lamb and beef gyro meat is so delicious and spiced just perfectly. They also have these "Greek" fries, basically slices of potato that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.. I can't stop eating them! I am looking forward to trying more things on the menu. Check this place out - you won't be sorry
(5)Christina P.
Great friendly service, great tasting food. I can taste all the flavors they are not mashed together. Great presentation of the food.
(5)Kevin H.
I have always been pleased with the food and the service at Spiro's in Kent. Usually a large group(16+) of us hit Spiro's on Friday nights before the Seattle Thunderbirds games. The food is excellent and we really enjoy the belly dancer. I highly recommend going to Spiro's Greek Island.
(5)Vera P.
Great Mediterranean place in Kent, great Greek fries, good salads and enjoyed the chicken..
(5)Sam B.
Best Greek food in America!!!!!!!!! I definitely recommend this place to eat. Lunch or dinner!!!!! Such delicious food! Everything that I have had there is amazing!
(5)Beth A.
Spiro's has a nice atmosphere. Here are the highlights: *Clean Bathroom *Various Menu Options *Affordable *Nice Ambiance Downside: *My meat was gritty/fatty/tough *The salad was basic iceberg (not special) *I'm allergic to their scented candles Neutral: *The serving size was large
(3)Natalie G.
100% satisfied with the food, service, price, and ambiance. The fries were really unique and tasty, definitely wasn't expecting that. Their hummus was perfect and so was the pita. Best Greek food I've had. Go there!
(5)Tony S.
Very good food and service. Every thing, every time is very good!
(4)Gail B.
I love this place. Used to live here and went regularly. Returned yesterday and received the same good service, tasty food (large portions) and decent wine selection. Will always return when I can!
(5)Sandie L.
"meh" 2 1/2 stars for the food. I've been here both for lunch with a large group and also for dinner with a few friends. Each time averages the same taste and service... nothing interesting or leaving me wanting more, but nothing really bad either. The food price is higher for the quality, service average, space is clean and never busy. Typically, I order the the big dipper appetizer which is more than enough for a meal, but I've also tried the salads and other veggie dishes. I tend to come back for the convenience and its location in cute historical kent, but not my first choice for Greek food.
(2)Greg S.
Spiro's is the ONLY PLACE in the United States to go for Greek Food!!! I've been to many Greek Restaurant and NONE OF THEM COMPARE to SPIRO'S! Even after moving away from Washington back to my hometown of Sacramento, California I must say that I REALLY MISS being able to eat at this place. The food is amazing! The item that I would recommend the most is the Gyro Souvlaki Platter which come with marinated Gyro Meat, Feta Cheese, Greek Fries, Tzatziki Sauce, Feta Bread and salad with Tomato Wedges, Cucumbers, Greek Olives, more Feta Cheese (can't go wrong there), Peperoncinis, and their signature vinaigrette. The Greek Fries is the key that item that makes Spiro's Soar above any other place that i have ever been to. It's such a simple item but it so such a nice touch and done so well that no other offers --- which I find very surprising! Greek Fried are thickly chopped potato medallions with skin and all that are fried and covered with FETA CHEESE that is nicely spiced with salt n' pepper that is served withTzatziki Sauce. Any other place that I have even been to, does not serve them. Only french fries which are just too plain. To all you other restaurant serving regular plain old french fries, why don't you throw a little Greek Flair on them Potato's y'all! Put some Greek Fries on the menu damn it! There not hard to do but it's such a nice touch that elevates french fries to a whole another level. I miss me some Spiro's.
(5)Melanie H.
My betrothed and I have been here for two date nights now - and left both times full, happy and feeling like we had more than a meal; we had an experience. The staff is authentic, the decor and music is authentic, and we were even treated to a fabulous belly dancer the first night. I love that the food is nice and garlicy and the house wine is actually GOOD - just like in Europe. Yum! I am the appetizer queen (usually foregoing a meal altogether) and had ordered two appetizers and the soupa. Jim ordered the chicken salad (which was AMAZING), but we never got our soup. When I mentioned that it was OK, just please don't charge us for it - they not only brought it out immediately with profuse apologies, but they did not charge us for it or one of the appetizers. Customer service? In this century? It's true! Spiro's made customers for life. Oh, and the soupa was worth the wait.
(5)Tod W.
Good food with many selections. A nice sit down place when compared with some of the more fast food-like Med./Greek places in the area. Perhaps a bit overpriced.
(3)Andrew S.
Awesome food!!!
(5)Amie G.
A friend took me here twice. We had the same dish both times to share. Big portions. Great food and excellent service! Definitely worth a try!
(5)Casey W.
When it's 25 outside I just wish they would turn on the heat inside. It's no fun eating while wearing your down coat. The food is great despite this fact. Just found out there's not hot water in the restroom either?
(3)Clay B.
Great food. This is lime the full Greek expierence... The music the belly dancing, the food. Try the sampler platter for 4 there are piles of all the different meats and huge chunks of feta. Greek salads and Greek cocktails. It is situated in downtown Kent, great place.
(4)Adrienne D.
I went to Spiro's with a large group on a Friday night. I was impressed with the ambience and loved the belly dancing entertainment. She really read the crowd well and had fun with the kids that were dining. It was very crowded with a full waiting room where they had put out some snacks to hold people over. The food here was amazing. I didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. We started with the Saganaki appetizer, which is super fun because it's lit and flambed table side while the wait staff encourage you to enthusiastically shout out a good luck word, Opa! The greek salad was stupendous, in my opinion, but perhaps the flavor is an aquired taste as most in my group left theirs largely untouched. I say it's worth a try because if your taste buds match mine, you'll love it. The main dish meat platters were enormous, definitely meant to be shared. I had the lamb and tried both the rice and the potatoes ( the waitress was nice enough to allow half and half). The rice was delightful, the potatoes fairly dry and the only down side of the whole meal. It was also nice that they had some Greek wines in their cellar. I enjoy trying flavors of the region when enjoying this kind of dining experience. I will definitely be returning to Spiros.
(4)rozen k.
This is by far the best gyro place i have ever been to. Highly recommend it! I always get a dish that has chicken because their chicken is the best!!
(5)Becky N.
Been here a few times and I like a simple Greek gyro, and I absolutely love their Greek salad and gyro. I did take out there last time and saw they sell their salad dressing and I know why, because it is so much sweeter than what I have gotten in the grocery store, totally buying a bottle next time!
(4)Scott H.
Quick and attentive service, I have only had the opportunity to be there for lunch.
(4)Katie H.
The best Gyro in South King County. Service ok , friendly but can be slow at times. Belly Dancing on the weekends is always tasteful fun :) Greek fries/ potatoes are yummy but the hummus could be creamier or zestier. Portions are generous. Great place to have lunch with friends or have a birthday
(4)Aaron S.
A great homey neighborhood place. I have been coming here for years. The soup is good, so is the souvlaki. Well I've never had anything bad here. Can get busy and loud, which is a good thing!
(5)J N.
My husband and I love this place! Their Greek fries are amazing and the hummus is to die for! We eat here at least once a week, friendly and fast service. Great little downtown gem.
(5)DD C.
One of the best restaurant in Kent, Delicious food and big portions!!! Never disappointed with the quality of gyro and chicken souvlaki plates!!!
(5)Walt W.
This lovely "mom and pop" looking shop is nestled a few blocks south of the Kent Commons. We past it at first because there is no obvious "ITALIAN RESTAURANT - EAT HERE" sign, just a small neon sign on the window. Its nicely decorated with a Greek Mediterranean theme in the front area and has an expanded area in the back. I ordered the Tzatziki with Pita as an appetizer and the Gyro with Greek Fries, which was on the lunch special and it came with a salad and some intense salad dressing. They were out of Greek Iced Tea which was quite disappointing. For $10 it was a descent sized plate of offerings. The beef gyro was tasty and messy, as they should be. But the service was not quite top notch and that's why they are only getting 4 stars.
(4)Amberlynn E.
I will be BACK! I am in awe at Spiro. The atmosphere was wonderful, The service was above par, oh and the food, mmmm The food was delicious.
(4)Rhi M.
Came for dinner with my boyfriend the food was amazing both of us had gyros. However service was horrible. He asked for our order, dropped off our food and never came back. We both wanted a drink with our meal. I made eye contact many rimes with our waiter yet he never came back till we were all finished. We got our drinks when we got our check. Very disappointing.
(2)Jamie T.
This place has wonderful food and very friendly waitstaff. The Greek Ice Tea is addicting and I easily drink 5 glasses full while there. It is bottomless which is wonderful.
(4)Katie S.
Spiro's has some of the best Gyros I have eaten anywhere. The meat is well seasoned and the sandwich itself is really large. I can usually only eat half and take the rest home and eat the full salad. The last time my boyfriend and I came in, he ordered the falafal and we both agreed it was really badly made. Incredibly spicy to the point of burning my throat and being inedible. I hope it was just a bad batch and not the normal. The staff is always really nice, but seem almost stressed out from having such a small staff. Greek coffee seemed to be a winner for both my BF and my best friend.

so the service here has gone to the dogs. my sister and i sat here for more than fifteen minutes without so much as even a glass of water. there was a waitress whose priority seemed to be clearing dishes off a table when there was no wait, just newly seated customers not being served. the hostess was loud and annoying. she talked loudly on the phone for ten minutes before seating us. wouldn't you seat the customer in front of you first after putting the customer on the phone on hold? i'm not going to go back here again, even with knowing that the food is pretty good.

Our evening reminded me of our adventures in Boston's North End... great homemade food... no one is in a rush... and you will leave with more food than you ate. The service was perfect for us. If you are looking for a place that is going to bring out all of your courses at once... this isn't the place for you. We arrived at 6:00 and left at 7:30. Our beverages were delivered promptly and the Saganaki came about 10 minutes after we ordered it. The flaming brandy was a nice trick, but would have preferred the alcohol to burn off a bit more. The side salads were perfectly dressed in a bright house vinaigrette (available for sale as well) and was covered in a light sprinkling of feta. Very fresh greens and a nice change from packaged fare. I had the prawn tortellini Alfredo special. Our waitress explained that the owners also have an Italian place up in Edmonds. The tortellini were homemade and amazing, the sauce was rich, and the 7 shrimp plump and tasty. My only problem was that the tails were left on and were not easy to see in the thick sauce (1 point deduction). My hubby ordered Pastitsio and was a bit confused by the stew-like side dish. He described it as American Chop Suey, but different... which he would consider a compliment. We had enough left over for 2 meals each... easily! By this time the joint was jumping... it was a blustery, rainy day so the sidewalk tables were not open.... the tables by the front window and the side banquette were all full... half of the back room was even full. I noticed that the waiter was gone and the one waitress and hostess were taking care of ~15 tables?? Until then I had 3 refills of coffee and my husband had 2 refills of coke... but while the waiter was on break (my assumption) the food was being served promptly from the kitchen, but refills and checks lagged. Not enough that I would call it horrible service, or even deduct a point... but it is worth keeping an eye on. Did I mention the take out? The hostess was amazing... she bussed tables, delivered food, sat people, took takeout orders, delivered checks... she was a one woman band! For dessert I had the baklava and my hubby had the chocolate cake. The Baklava was better than average, but not as good as other Greek restaurants in the area, the chocolate cake was great... BUT... it was frozen... the center of the slice was hot and the bottom was frozen solid... it tasted better than a Costco special... BUT... frozen solid??? (1 point deduction) We will go back for lunch to try the Gyro... the people at the tables around us had the open faced platters that looked awesome!

My boyfriend and I went here earlier today through happenstance because we found out the other local Greek/Italian place was no longer in the area. I'm very happy I checked this place out. I saw a menu earlier online and wasn't as impressed at first, but the food here is wonderful as well as service. The prices are worth the quality and portions of the food. The combination platter for the appetizers was amazing. It was nice to sample various spreads, however I wish it offered. the baba ganoush or maliztanosalata. Perhaps next time they will let us mix and match them. We also ordered a gyro pita and gyro platter. I was full enough from the combo appetizer that I took my gyro home. My boyfriend loved the fries that came with the platter. We did make room for dessert. I liked how the server came out with a plate to show examples of the desserts they offered. I had the bougasta and my boyfriend had the Kahlua chocolate mousse. It was my first time having bougasta. It reminds me of gulab jamun. I liked how it wasn't too sweet, but just enough. The chocolate mousse was also very delicious. As for atmosphere, the lighting felt a dim for my preferences, but it didn't bother me overall. The food came out in a timely manner and was presented very well. Our check came to $50, not including tip, so it's comparable to the above average restaurant prices. I felt I got my money's worth and my boyfriend and I plan on going back soon.

This place is too good to pass up. Every time we go here, I pretty much get the same exact thing - The chicken souvlaki dinner platter. It is just so. damn. good. My husband says that if I know he's within a 5 mile radius of this place, I make him bring home dinner. I think he's right. I'm pretty sure when we decide to have kids, I'll have some massive pregnancy cravings for Spiro's. The service is always great, especially with Ian, and the food doesn't seem to take too long, even on a busy Friday night. Just try it, you will not regret your decision.

My wife and I had some friends from out of town and we knew this was a spot to take them for some good food. At Spiro's didn't fail us. Food was delicious as always and the customer service was amazing. The waiter even called my wife to let her know that she had forgotten her leftovers there - which I later ate =D! We are definitely loyal customers!

If you insist on eating here, only order the Souvlaki/Gyro. Avoid everything else. We were there last week and nearly everyone in our group was really disappointed. The moussaka was terrible - very obviously not fresh and likely had been sitting for days. The greek salad is nothing to write home about and the dressing is actually terrible. The calamari was blah - a big plate of fried blah-ness. Oh, and it's all really expensive - like $15+ per plate... What is good: the tatziki (sp?)...the service was very friendly and very prompt. Unfortunately, nothing else. It's too bad b/c I really want to like this place - but, it seems they're on a downward trend with less than fresh food and rising prices.

Spiro's is an awesome place to check out for some solid Greek food. In what is probably my favorite area of Kent, Spiro's makes one mean gyro and some awesome greek fries. The Spanakopita is really really good, and my husband's favorite, the falafel platter, is spiced nicely and not bland at all. I love their greek salads that come with the meal, and the greek iced tea is so good on a warm day. The ambiance is a casual setting, great place to get dinner with friends and then walk around downtown Kent. They also have belly dancing during the weekend which is entertaining (and also funny to watch others' reactions). You definitely get your money's worth and always leave with leftovers. Definitely the best place in the area to satisfy your hankering for good Greek food.

If you haven't been here then you don't know what your missing out on.

Came across this little gem of a restaurant this week while I was in this area for work.. Feels like a hometown kinda joint and the food is just as "homey" as the atmosphere. Went with the Gyro combo platter (with greek Fries & salad), friend had the Moussake platter & some greek coffee -both were fabulous! Service was friendly and swift. Would consider coming back if i'm ever in this area again. PS - this restaurant seems to be in the happnin' part of Kent - who knew that there we would be such old town charm here!

I have eaten Greek for many years. I have tried Spiro's many times and this will be my last. Calamari, tough to chew; the salad, wet and with a vinegar and sugar dressing; lamb over cooked and no flavor. At least the sauce (I can't spell it) had a lot of garlic and had good flavor. I am disappointed.
(2)Trisha H.
Not the biggest fan of Greek food, but it was definitely good! We got the Calamari, which we recommend! The Greek salad was amazing; they make their own dressing. We were so full by the time our main dish came that we ended up saving both the plates that came out after the salad! Get the gyro and fries.

You wouldn't find yourself in this area if you're not native to Kent. I didn't even know an old downtown Kent existed until I was told we're having dinner at Spiro's. As you turn off of Central on to Gowe, you'll be able to find Spiro's on the right side of 1st Ave. It's pretty easy to find, and if you're lucky, there'll be some street parking up front.. If not, there's a parking lot on the next block. As you walk in, the place is pretty dim. This is my first Greek experience other than some Daphne's in the mall. The decor is nice and seating is pretty wide. The place isn't crowded, so we were easily seated right a way. I took a quick glance around and noticed it was mainly families that were dining in at the time. It took us a while to get our orders and drinks going however, I suppose they forgot about us since they stuck us in the corner. But hey! Here comes a belly dancer!! My girl kept insisting that I tip her, but I told her that this place isn't Rick's! It's Spiro's!!! Well, after a few remarks between us, my girl slipped the girl a few bucks. The menu had a good number of items.. I often have a difficult time finding something to order when there's so many selections at a new restaurant. We each decided to get our own dish and some calamari for an appetizer. She went with the Chicken Souvlaki and I got the Pastitsio. I had no idea what to expect, but I thought a casserole sounded good for the night. The calamari showed up really quick and we went straight ahead to squeeze the two slices of lemon onto it. They were nice big pieces and was very tasty. A lot better than Olive Garden!! I happened to get a side salad with my order and it showed up at the same time as the Calamari. The salad was probably the best oil and vinegar dressed one I've ever had. VERY DELIGHTFUL!! My only downside... I didn't have a tasty dinner. Well, I didn't know what I was ordering either. HAHA! Generally, I like dishes that are saucy, but my dish was pretty much dry bones. Rice, sauteed veggies, and a baked casserole. The veggies were good, but everything was pretty bland. I got a side of pita bread, so we asked for some hummus. It was okay, but also a bit plain. Baklava sounded good to end the night, but since I was a bit disappointed with my dish, I decided that I just wanted to go home. Upon walking out, I noticed a huge platter of fruit by the door! I didn't notice this coming in. But there was a lot of cut up fruit with some tooth picks on the side to eat. I guess it's there for those who may have to wait for a table. Nice touch!! For forty bucks, I'd probably rather go somewhere else for something else. But I wouldn't mind coming back for another try.

These people have the most incredible falafel I have ever tasted. And their hummus is amazing. Service is pretty good, too.

Is Greek food better with or without belly dancers? Find out here.. LOCATION: Good Greek found in old downtown Kent (roughly a couple blocks south of Kent Station). Neither the menu nor the ambiance has changed much since the original Spiro moved on. I personally don't know a better Greek restaurant within about 15 miles. FOOD: Good Greek food with reasonable prices. Like the souvlaki, gyros, gyro salad and Greek fries. Prices are reasonable for sit down Greek food. Wife loves the Tzatziki. The Greek salad dressing is essentially an offshoot of a vinaigrette. The also have some kind of a flaming meal that causes quick the spectacle (I think it's cheese). AMBIANCE: Depends on the day. Casual atmosphere with a few Greek decorations/pictures. Music ranges from strange Greek euro-pop to traditional older Greek Music. It's never been obtrusive enough to make me leave, but it's a little odd. It seems like most of the Greek restaurants I try have something odd about them, so maybe it is part of the territory... BELLY DANCING: On some nights they will have belly dancers (believe it's Fri/Sat. There is some skin showing, but its lots of flowing garments (they aren't go go dancers). It is interesting to watch from afar, but when it's right up next to you while you're eating you're gyro it can be distracting. The regulars seem to barely notice while the first-timers tend to get the cameras out. SERVICE: All over the place in my experience. Not "bad" but service can range from spot on to "is anyone working tonight". Generally friendly though. You map need to mapquest this to find it, but if you like Greek food, it's worth a visit.

We went to eat here a month or so ago, on a Sunday evening. We got some of what we ordered, but were missing an adult entree. Food wasn't good at all, the baklava was burnt, and the main adult dish we did get was terrible. If we didn't have 4 little kids we would've went back to tell them about distasteful food, and missing adult order.

Best Greek food I've ever had! Portions are a good size for the money. I've never had bad service even when it is super busy. This is my number one choice when people ask where should we go and we are anywhere near Kent.
(5)Pete A.
In 12 years of patronizing Spiro's, I have only had one bad experience which was a service issue. Until Sunday 10-14-12 where the food was either inedible or bland, and service was less than adequate. When the waitress was asked how sweet the Greek wine was she told us"I don't know, I've never tasted it." and had no information on any of the other wines. The Spanakopita is usually a wonderful appetizer, but this last visit it was less in flavor and quality. Of the two piece's that come on the appetizer plate they had been reheated to much with the ends blackened. I only tried eating one piece which tasted like it was an old left over shoe with not much flavor and the bottom of the phyllo harder than a 2x4, when I flipped over the second one it was a soggy mess. The waitress took a long time to check on us, even after I placed the Spanakopita on the table next to us and made eye contact with her she continued scraping plates then walked past us checked tickets walked past us again got more dirty plates and scraped them and finally came over to us with out washing her hands. The Baba Ghanoush with Pita appetizer smelled and tasted like they had dumped the whole bottle of tahini in it, not a pleasant taste. My salad that comes with the Souvlaki dinner platter was minus the kalamata olive and tomato, my friends salad had both but the salads were very heavily dressed. needless to say I'm upset that my little piece of heaven has gone to, well you know.

Back when I worked in Kent, Spiros was in our weekly rotation of restaurants to eat at. One note is that the service is slow... but that is easily mitigated by ordering in advance! Our big group would choose our meals, call it in, and when we arrived 20 minutes later... voila, lunch is served. My favorite is the gyro, served open-face or on the platter. The lamb is flavorful and the thinly shaved slices are tender and plentiful. Their pita bread is fluffy and addicting, especially when paired with their tzatziki sauce. Though admittedly, their tzatziki is heavy on the garlic and your co-workers may not want to sit next to you after lunch. Dieters beware - their greek fries with feta are the best indulgence and a must-have with any meal! Spiros is definitely a shining star in the Kent world of chain restaurants and Americana.
(4)Rebecca A.
Horrible, horrible service, which is sad because the food was very good. We were seated outside and then forgotten about for 20 minutes, until I personally went inside and asked if anyone was planning on taking our order. Our food then took quite some time, then we were never checked on again. I had to made a 2nd trip inside to find out if anyone planned on bringing us to-go containers and our bill, so we could get back to work in a timely manner. The staff was slow and didn't seem to care that people were waiting for 20+ minutes without their orders being taken.

If you enjoy Greek food, this is definitely the place to go. I eat here at least 3 times a month. The gyros are huge. I usually get the Greek Sandwhich Combo. It consists of a gyro with and greek fries, soup or salad. The gyro meat has very good flavor. I always get the greek fries, potato wedges with feta cheese. It is very reasonably priced at $8 (before tax and tip). The restaurant has a very laid back environment. This might irritate some but I'm fine with it. I usually go on Fridays but have been on other days of the week. It is by far the busiest on Friday during lunch hour. The wait staff is always very friendly. I always leave this place happy and full. I recommend Spiro's when people are looking for a place to eat in Downtown Kent.

Have only been here once so far, but will be back. The food is very good, we got the sampler and it gives you a good variety of what you can get there, all of it was good. If you are fortunate enough to be there when the belly dancer is there you are in for a good time. We saw some people that were a little intimidated by her, but we enjoyed watching her very much.
(4)Tina S.
I picked this place based on the reviews here. The food was amazing. I had a gyro and the portion size was perfect. I liked the fact that they have the regular American menu items for my 15 year old that didn't wish to try something new. For three people, an appetizer, a glass of wine, no dessert was $55. Very reseaonable priced in my opinion. The staff were nice. The only setback initially was the time it took to order out food. The waitress apologized and said Sunday nights are usually slow. Therefore, they only had two servers. Once we ordered we didn't wait like for the food to come out. We will definitely be going back!
(5)Vicky K.
Easily the best greek food place in the seattle area.. Their greek iced tea is super yummy and the gyro meat is always good along with all their souvlaki meats!! You must try their greek salads too.. their dressing is home made and DELISH!
(5)Wig B.
I really dig the food here! The hubby and I spent 3 months working together in Greece so I know decent Greek food. It is hard to find great, reasonably priced Greek food in the Seattle area for some reason, Spiros Greek Island is the exception! It is NOT a gross chain restaurant, I think it is family run. I really recommend this place, we found it and keep goin' back. Service is always really efficient, the place is clean, and the food...WOOO! Tatziki in the states? I usually pass, but at Spiros Greek Island I always order extra, just like in Greece.
(4)Donna M.
Had lunch here yesterday and was very happy. The lunch time gyro combination was HUGE. It included a Greek salad, gyro and the most heavenly sliced potato FF's. It costs just under $10 but as I said it was huge. First of all, the salad was wonderful. Lots of feta and a delicious Greek dressing. The gyro was bursting with shaved meat and the potatoes were golden and crispy. We split a slice of baklava and really had no business trying to shove any more food in my mouth. It was good but by that time it was hard to appreciate it due to the previous gorge-fest.

My boyfriend and I went here on We were greeted and seated right away. It was very loud however, and the table was so huge we had to yell across. we asked to be reseated outside on the patio area on the street. Our server was nice and took our order right away. We got our calamari appetizer within nano seconds, it was hot and delicious, and not too fried. I'd say in my top thee calamari experiences. It was super pleasant outside, at first... Until the music started blasting so loud on the outdoor speaker. At first i thought it was just a really loud track or something, but then every song was to the same fast, loud intensity. We mildly mentioned to our waitress that "it was a little loud :)" and she told us nicely it was belly dancing night and they were almost done. Ok, I can dig it. It's fun and I'm young, it's all good. But then literally kept going on and on and on. We couldn't talk, we couldn't even here each other. We mentioned it again to another server as she walked by and shrugged us off with the same "ohhh it's belly dancing night". Yeah, we get it... But my head is ringing, I can't talk to my bf, or think about anything but the music. Like it felt comparable to that torture tactic were a person is trapped to a chair with headphones blasting techno at full bore for weeks on end. For real. We got our food, which was good, very large portions, but kind of felt more like I was eating my feelings to escape the music than actually enjoying myself. I'd say 4 for the food, negative 2 for the atmosphere... You could so easily change that! Just turn down the volume for the tables not sitting by the belly dancers.
(2)Chris L.
Disappointing. Immediately upon walking in the smell of the restaurant made me want to turn around. It was not appealing and that was the first sign. My friends who had gotten there before me asked - "have you ever had Greek Iced Tea? It doesn't taste at all like Lipton's". I took a sip of their "greek iced tea" and guess what it tasted like? :) I ordered the falafel and it was dry as a bone. I had to pour on the tzatziki and hummus just to be able to eat it. Maybe other dishes are better, but I wouldn't be so inspired to try them. The service was horrible, but it's hard to say if it's because there was only one waitress that night. Avoid.
(2)Karen N.
So far, delicious every time I've been here. Try the sampler! We had the small one for two and it was enough to easily feed three adults, a very good value for the price!
(4)Deb W.
OMG!! The food here was so delicious!! Had other plans for the night, so I ordered my meal to go. When I got to sit down and eat my meal, I was elated!! The gyro was well stuffed with tender lamb and enough tziki sauce. I also had a small Greek salad, which to me was a great portion for two people!! The price was worth it. I loved the food and will return.
(3)Sarah S.
Holy cow! The gyro platter is huge! I couldn't believe how much food was on that plate when they set it down in front of me! But oh man was it delicious! (And still good warmed up the next day!) The gyro platter is lamb and beef with rice, pita bread, and tzatziki. Our waitress was a little annoyed that it took us so long to decide on a bottle of wine, and you could tell, but it's not like they were super busy and she had a bunch of other tables demanding her attention. Actually, there might have been one other table in her section. The bathrooms were not pleasant. The smell on the way was a little disturbing (I wondered if I was going to find an overflow once I got to the bathroom... I didn't, thank God.) But the bathrooms weren't really clean and there was no soap in the women's bathroom (ewww...) The bathroom and the annoyed waitress were the only downsides. The atmosphere was nice and the food was good.
(3)Bobby B.
Nice little spot in downtown Kent. The food is good and as traditional as you can get without going to Greece. The salad is fresh as well s other ingredients, plus the portions are on point. The main room is lightly lit, but the back is brighter as well as outside seating if you come on he right day (it is Washington). On another high note the servers and host are very friendly.
(4)Jennifer K.
We stumbled on Spiro's five years ago and have been eating there regularly ever since. I have to say, it may possibly be the south end's best kept secret. The interior atmosphere is great, especially on the weekends when there's live belly dancing; in the Summertime it's easy to forget we're in Kent. Better still, the prices are very reasonable, and the service has always been good. My husband and I usually share the platter for two (Greek salads, chicken, beef, pork and gyro meat with pita bread, feta, olives and tzatziki sauce) and it's always more than enough food for both of us (and under $25!) The calamari is divine, I could seriously become addicted to their Greek iced tea, and I would probably make the trek south on I-5 in rush-hour traffic (in the snow!) for their salad dressing alone. For dessert, the baklava is a must.
(5)Dusty H.
Loved it, service took awhile but the food was great.
(4)Rich A.
Good place to go in kent. The Gyro was delicious and they had good service.
(4)Keith H.
This is an awesome greek restaurant. I usually go for lunch and get the Gyro special, which consists of a gyro sandwich, greek salad, and greek fries which are like sliced home fries. I am a big eater, but this always fills me up. It costs around $11, and everyone that has been there with me goes back. I also went with my wife a few times for dinner and the belly dancers and dinner items were great too. Only drawback is the bad smell in the back of the restaurant one time. Maybe a sewer gas issue? I usually eat outside or sit at the front now and no smells there.
(4)Sean M.
If your looking for Greek food in South King County, this place isn't bad. Food is good and service is usually good. I have been and had very poor service, but it only happened once so I will forgive them. The prices are a little high, but they usually have a lunch special that's on the reasonable side.
(3)Amanda G.
Definitely my favorite restaurant in Kent.. I tend to want to go to Seattle when we eat out but this restaurant is worth staying close to home for.. I have never had bad service everyone is very attentive.. I went in one time and I was just getting over a cold.. I asked for just a water and they brought me back a complimentary hot tea... it made me feel so much better. The food is amazing.. I stick to the hummus and pita, Greek fries, and gyro. All very flavorful and huge portions... I always leave with enough for lunch the next day. When my husband and I go together we usually share and both leave full. Update: I think the business switched hands... but I went for dinner the other night for the first time (I am usually a lunch kinda gal) It was really crowded and somehow my friend and I were sat at connecting table touching elbows with a couple and their kids. I don't really like children so I wasn't to thrilled... The food was amazing as always and there were bellydancers! It was a nice touch.. although I didnt like the fact that she was right in front of my face... Overall still a great place.
(5)Paul R.
After waiting for quite some time to be seated in the mostly empty dining room (there was one other couple in there) the somewhat intoxicated looking hosted yelled to sit anywhere. The waitress seemed ok so we decided to stay and give it a shot. We ordered some Hummus and pita as an appetizer along with a drink. they came 15 minutes later and our order was taken at that time. The food came out before we could even finish half the appetizer but I guess that was alright. Our main courses were very sweet but otherwise tasteless and dry. This $50 plus meal for 2 was very disappointing especially reading all the great reviews that have been posted.
(1)Jason F.
I've been coming here for many years now. The prices are good, and the wait staff is very friendly. I love the open face gyros. The other dishes at spiros are excellent as well.
(5)Kevin S.
Love this place, it is a nice sit down Greek place as long as the belly dancers are not something that would bother you. (They are only there Friday & Saturday night)
(5)Girl D.
This place is hit or miss. Their menu is really quite limited; there are really just a few simple theme dishes that are rearranged for lunches or dinners (it's either grilled meat, sliced or on skewers, over rice or on pitas), and the prices are steep for the simplicity of the food. The service is also hit or miss. I've been here for workgroup lunches where we had a very attentive server. But for dinner, we once had this guy who would just disappear from the dining room completely for long stretches, who had to be told multiple times to bring my friend a clean fork, and who rushed to bring out our "flaming" cheese appetizer after forgetting about it for 20 minutes...well, the "flaming" kasseri cheese was still quite icy-cold and solid, just the surface of it was on fire. Dude, I don't think that's the idea. The taste of their food, though, once you can get through the indifferent service, bizarrely inconsistent serving sizes, and immodest prices, is pretty good. They have the best tzatziki sauce in King County. I could eat it with a straw. But they're stingy with it, and give you a tiny salad-dressing-cup of it, which lasts about 20 seconds. They also have excellent baba ghanoush, but there's the same problem again: you get what's not even a tiny pudding-cup of it, for six bucks. That's funny, because when I make baba ghanoush at home, I can make enough to paint my house with garlicky goodness for about three bucks. Their Greek salad dressing is lively and flavorful. Georgia's in Ballard has far better spanakopita, and the long-gone Oven hole-in-the-wall on Broadway in Capitol Hill could have taught them heaps about how to keep falafel moist, fresh, and palatable. But if you stick with the gyros and souvlaki platters, simple stuff that's just grilled meat, rice, and salad with pitas, you'll have a tasty meal. Eventually.
(3)Lisa F.
The food here is totally awesome, and all the locals know it. If you are a true fan of authentic greek food you will LOVE your meal here, try the Gyro and you will end up craving it for the rest of your life.
(5)Vernon D.
The best Greek food in the Seattle area for both lunch and dinner and their charming staff remember your dining preferences on repeat visits. Reservations are recommended for weekend dining and, while it is entertaining, the music for belly-dancing is quite loud. Great service and a delightful crowd!
(4)Tom M.
When I feel like Greek food, I try to get as close to Greece as possible. Since I live in Seattle, that means I drive to Kent (which is about 25 miles closer to the Peloponnese by my rough calculations). Fortunately for me, Spiro's offers a very worthy reward for my efforts. It would be ideal if I could break down the entire menu and explain the relative strengths and weaknesses of each dish -- but I can't. That's because I always order the same thing, Spiro's Gyros Platter. The Greek salad that comes with the platter has one of the most flavorful vinegar based salad dressings around; the gyro meat is always flavorful and the Greek fries a tasty compliment. Portions are Hercluean, so lay off the fries until you have made some headway through the Gyro. Wash it all down with Spiro's Greek Ice Tea, which is sweet and minty. Friends have told me that the other menu items are equally good, but, I figure, why mess with a good thing, especially with such a long drive back to Seattle? The dining ambiance in Spiro's is for the most part what you expect in Greek restaurants -- kinda like your brother's wife Georgia's kitchen. But try to get a seat in the front, since the back is like your brother did the design. Last tip. As a previous review suggests, I love garlic. Spiro's Tzatziki sauce is deadly -- definitely don't eat here and expect to hold any sort of bi-lateral discussions with anyone soon. Definitely don't make the mistake I made of throwing your leftovers away in your office wastebasket and then holding a closed door interview with a poor slob whose eyes started to bleed over the course of the interview. This is a great Greek restaurant. It's places like Spiro's that put the "Big Fat" in the "Big Fat Greek Wedding". Eat here.

I haven't been here in two months. This place used to be a weekly lunch spot. The food is still great. The service is, umm... not so good. They only filled my coke once during my meal. I was playing the eye contact game with my server. You know the game; I stare until our eyes make contact, but at the same time she avoids my eyes like I'm Medusa, its good times. Then there was this guys asking, "miss, miss" trying to get her attention, it only took seven times, she was also playing the deaf game as well. The decor of this place is meh, I don't mind sitting on taped up bench seats as long as food and service is good. I guess I'll settle for 1 out of 2 for Spiros.
(3)Wild C.
Tried to order the same fantastic thing I had my first and only other experience at this place. It cost twice as much and looked so different I took it back because I thought they got the order wrong. The counter girl acted like it was my fault and a real problem to fix, and their version of fixing it was just to take about half of what was previously in the take out box and wrap it up. NOT an acceptable "fix". By the time I got back from my lunch break I was 15 min over and the food was cold. The kicker? I spent 20 minutes talking my boss into trying this place! Never again.

Haven't hung out with my friends in a while so we thought dinner at the Greek place down the street from work would be a nice place to catch up. It certainly would have been if we could hear what each other was saying. Granted, it was Friday night and there was a belly dancer engaging the diners, but still... The food: delicious. I had the falafel with tzatziki sauce. The potatoes that came with it were delicate and crisp. It also came with a salad with feta and a citrusy dressing. My friends went for the gyro which really looked like a pile of meat on large platters of lettuce. I couldn't even see the pita on which they were served. I also heard that the moussaka was delicious. It came with an interesting cinnamon rice pilaf. The service: It took forever for our waiter to take our orders and bring us our checks. The hostess tried to seat us at a table near the bathroom even though there was an open table not reserved for anyone else. Yes, I requested that one instead. Sorry, not a fan of eating my entree so close to the place where people are taking care of bodily functions. Food took a while to come out, but it was busy, so that was to be expected. The belly dancing: Not my thing. When the dancer came to our table, we all kind of stared into our plates so she would leave us alone. Seemed like she got the hint since none of us were engaged by her presence, nor did we pull out any dollars to deposit into her spangly waistband. I don't know, but I wasn't really into having a half naked girl dancing next to me while I was trying to eat. Maybe if we were in a bar, but not at a restaurant. And the fact that people were stuffing dollars into her waistband just kind of gave it the added sleaze factor, like we were in some sort of strip bar. I'm not knocking it; it's just not for me. The ambiance/music: Kind of like a candlelit dance party--according to my friend. Definitely too loud to be able to hear each other across the table without raising my voice. It was also difficult hearing what the waiter was saying. Sometimes I just smiled and nodded because it was the easiest thing to do. Overall experience: I'll be back. Just not on a belly dancing night.

I've been going to Spiro's for years, have lived all around the world (NY, Miami, Spain, Germany) and Spiro's by far has the best calamari I've ever had. It's a friend and family favorite. The garlic aioli is a perfect compliment for it. I usually get the open faced gyro as an entree and have enough for lunch the next day. The food is quick, portions generous and service is decent. We've only had one poor experience with the service, but it was extremely busy and you could tell the server was frazzled. I really just come for the food.

This place is good. Fun downtown Kent location. Nice restaurant, covered patio seating, dog-friendly, delicious food, and enormous servings. We had a coupon for free baklava so we stepped out for dinner and although stuffed, we managed to inhale a slice. I had the falafel platter which fed me for three days. My fiance had moussaka which fed him for three days as well! Vegan/vegetarian friendly. Kind service.

This rating is strictly for the service. I have been here a few times because the food is good. For greek food it's a little more on the pricey side. I recommend their house soup and a platter. Now back to the service... This place is never overly crowded from my 6 visits. My last visit was by far the worst service I have ever received at this restaurant. Our server was extremely slow. Our server was an older lady. She took 1 hour to order out food when there was 6 tables among-st 2 servers, and a hostess. After the order was taken the food arrived in about 15 mins which was acceptable, however we saw it sit on the food counter for another 10 mins. When the food finally arrived it was cold. You would think this would be the end of it, however it got worst. Our server was aggravating another male server that seemed to be helping her. They kept bickering back and forth which made our meals not appealing. Why putting away utensils she was throwing them and one of them missed and hit the floor. We shouldn't have to be eating in this type of environment. What grossed me out and will cause me only to do take out from now on is that she was putting away dirty dishes and without washing her hands I watched her serve more food and get cups for new guest.

The food is full of flavor and does not disappoint. The greatest part is, it's in kent?!?! You know what crazier is I have never been inside. We always order to go and someone else picks it up, because you have to have wine with greek food, but it's a no go for drinking and driving, my friend. If you ever get a chance you should definitly stop by or order to go, add some red wine and it's going to be good!

For those that just want the "star" reviews: Food **** (4.5) Staff *** - **** (3 to 4) Atmosphere *** (3.5) My bf and I are regulars to this place. They have delicious greek salad, gyros, and greek fries! The salad dressing is DELICIOUS. The first time I came here, my boyfriend and I ordered the sampler platter for 2, which had both the souvlaki (sp?) and gyro meat, tzatziki, pita bread and the rest of the works. The salad came out first and I was skeptical with the dressing at first since it may seem to be on the tart side, but boy was I wrong, that salad dressing was SOOOOO good. When they brought out that plate of meat, it was literally a pile/mountain of pure meat. When my bf and I were done and stuffed, it didn't even seem like that "mountain" had any change... There are a few nights that we came and saw the belly dancer, but nothing too special, we come here for the food anyways and it's always great to have easy parking around the area.... Spiros is good, in fact we might just go back sometime this week :)

I like them ok. Have had the gyro but wanted the sampler plate. Waitress informed me they were out of 2 different things so I should get the other. That said their food is fine. They have good wine deal on Monday nights 1/2 price for a bottle and their food is certainly A-OK. I've had better/worse but would go back and have multiple times.

This is a pretty decent Greek place. We ordered the combo appetizer and combo dinner with the yero meat. The hummus tasted much more tart than I had anticipated but it was still good, they also had a tzatziki sauce, a potato/garlic dip and a caviar spread all with pita bread, cheese, olives, and some veggies. The combo dinner platter was also pretty decent, it comes with Souvlaki and gyro meat. Probably more than half the platter was gyro meat in the center, around it was the souvlaki-beef, lamb, chicken and pork. The chicken and prok were both very good. The beef and lamb were on the dry side. Service was pretty good. For the restaurant being only half full at most, it was super loud - we can probably attribute that to the large table of 50 year old + drunk lady's singing Disney songs... After a glass of wine, combo appetiser/meal and tip the bill came to over $60. Granted, I did not have to get the wine, but I think I would have been happier getting a plain gyro and coke for $8-$10 off one of those Greek booths...that said, it's still a pretty good Greek place and worth checking out.

Bathroom smelled and we were sat right next it. 3 different people mentioned the smell, didn't get moved until we requested. When I mentioned it one of the girls response was "I have a cold and can't smell". If you have a cold why are you coming to work and risking passing it on the customers? No feta!! Really?? they said they were gonna call and tell us as we had made reservations. They never called. LThis means they knew before 5:00, our res time. At 6:00 people across from us were still ordering and still no feta. How long does it take to run to the store? Poorly run restaurant!! Chef Rung bell twice for food, the first time three girls we chatting at cash register and didn't budge. Food sat for 3 minutes before chef rang the bell again and then the girls got our food, we had a party of ten. My meat was almost room temperature. Kids Chicken plate arrived 10 minutes after the rest of our main course food was served. I might not ever come back. To be clear I have been here at least 5 times before and also ordered Togo at least 5 times. would rate each of those experiences 4-5.

Yumm! This old establishment goes easily unnoticed since the rise of kent station, but there's a reason why it's still here. It may not be modern in decor, and yea... it has a slight dishrag aroma, which really turns me off. But the food is worth it. The dinner platters are plentiful! No need for an appetizer, since it comes with greek salad and all the fixins. I grabbed just a gyro (not the meal) today, and it was huge! It had so much meat that I had to take half of it out. But I was disapointed to see that it lacked veggies.. it had maybe a tbs of chopped red onions & tomatoes and no cucumbers! I much rather would have enjoyed a couple slices of everything for a more balanced gyro. Dont forget the baklava!

We like this place fine, been in a twice in the past few months. I think the service is great, if not overattentive. We have had soup, falafel, salads and gyros. The fries are awesome. Don't know if they are really "Greek," but the round, fried potato covered in feta goes down good. They have a nice selection of beers and a full bar in back.

I love the salad dressing and Greek fries! Grew up going here and have yet to find a better Greek restaurant!

Just finished my first meal (ordered it as take out), and it will most likely be my last. The attentiveness of the staff was great when I walked in. They're so friendly I ALMOST feel guilty disparaging the meal, but alas, it's the food I'm really paying for. I ordered a gyros salad, a platter of cubed beef w/rice, a side of baba ganoush w/pita, and a side of hummus w/pita. Drove 20 minutes home, opened the bags, and discovered I wasn't provided rice (as I'd requested) with the cubed beef, but scalloped potatoes (their "fries"). The meat on the gyros salad was bland (imagine if Taco Bell tried to do Greek food) and my 5.99 sides had 2 oz. portion cups for the dips (I expected much more for that price). I suppose if you are in Kent, and don't own a car, this is your best bet for Greek food.

I haven't been here in a couple years so I don't know about the service now-a-days, but the food is AMAZING. I'm always telling people about it and I have never had Greek food as good as it is here. It's in a very random spot in downtown Kent and is really cozy inside! The only down side I remember was they had a belly dancer on Wednesday nights. They always blasted the music and there was a 50 year old shaking her booty in front of your face. :P

We went here a few months back and had a blast. Belly Dancer seemed to come out later in the evening than I first expected (apparently my idea of dinner is much earlier than theirs...lol). We got the flaming cheese (yeah I can't spell it) and the Greek combination platter for 2. Yeah we ate off that combo for 3 days later it is HUGE and very tasty. Be a staple in our area places to frequent now.

This is a quiet, delightful place with soft music and laid back environment. There is no hurry - so if you want "fast" food don't come here. This is so much better but humans have developed a "gotta have it NOW" belief that they forget how to sit back and enjoy a meal. The food is delicious - great spices and crunchy veggies - fresh chopped not pre-bagged salads. The calimari and Greek fries dipped in the sauce is outstanding. We have a few places we share our earnings with and this is one of the finest in the area.

I couldn't tell you how the food was. After waiting for 35 minutes for our saganaki and watching several tables seated after us get their entered, we left. I give them credit for not charging us. Food looked good, we'll be back when we have a couple hours to kill.

This much adored "old Kent" restaurant is one of my favorites. The food is usually quite good and the service very attentive. Last evening, our large group sampled almost everything on the menu and all was great, except for the tough and gristly lamb. (I've had the lamb before, and it was never this bad, so I'm pretty certain this was just a bad night for lamb.) My suggestions? Try something you've never tried before...you won't be disappointed!

I'll admit when I first came in, I wasn't a fan of how the place looked, seems a tad run down. But heard GREAT reviews, so we tried it out. I just love this place. I enjoy greek, & Spiro's seems to be pretty Authentic to me. The flavors are amazing. I've been here a handful of times. They have this amazing sweet tea, it's very good.. I always forget what I got the last time I was there.. They have this salad with the chicken and it's on the pita bread, so open faced pita..But then they have a salad simular, and you get the pita on the side... The vinegar they have IS SOOO GOOOD!!! I can't get over how good it is, I get extra and cover my plate.. Beware, it is full of Garlic. lol! Yummy! If you love Greek, this is the place! :)

i love the gyro- it has to be almost 2 lbs. covered in tzaksiki... it's a beautiful damn thing to be sure. the rest of our meal... not so much- somehow fishy hummus and slimy mussaka. go for the gyros, scrap the rest- belly dancing on the weekends is fun too.

I cannot find anything about the meal I consumed that resembles real Greek food. The dressing on my salad was full of sugar, and I absolutely regretted pouring it on my salad. My companions ordered spanakopita and could hardly choke it down due to high salt content. I was charged the wrong amount on my bill. Really, I wish I had experienced what other reviewers did. My time there was AWFUL!!

Spiro's has great food. Try the sampler and if you're going Greek you should try the wine..
