Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This is one of the best sushi places in the South Puget Sound by far. All of the rolls are terrific! The teriyaki is also fantastic. The owners are friendly, remember your name, and usually what you like to order. I go here when at work, and would go much more often if it was closer to home. I can't say enough about the great quality of food and service.

This place is AWESOME!! I have known the owners since they used to own another place when i was in high school. They make really great sushi and the teriyaki is sooooo yummy!!! There is not anything here that i don't like. I too own a pair of my own chopsticks there.

I love the woman who always seats us, I think she might be the owner. She is so nice and treats us like we are family. The food is sooo yummy and the prices are really good. The portions are very large, I always have leftovers for another meal. I have never had to wait. Its clean and quaint.

Ok, more like 3.5 stars. The husband and I frequent this joint mainly because they are convenient since we live nearby. Sure, we could probably make the trek downtown to Fujiya and/or Two Koi, but what can I say - we're lazy. Or it isn't a payday. Sometimes both. ;) Anyway. Sapporo has awesome service - and they're quick. I love that the staff is pretty personable, as they never seem to forget a face. Their menu selection is also worth mentioning. But the sushi? Eh, it's just okay. I'm not one for creative sushi rolls [let's throw some mandarin oranges on a california roll and call it a "Hawaiian roll" kinda thing...] and there are A LOT of those there. So, I usually just stick to the usual nigiri stuff - hamachi being my favorite there. Sapporo also gets a BIG "thumbs down" for their miso soup. I love me some miso soup, but theirs - not so much. It is watered down so much that it is basically flavorless. No bueno. We'll continue to patron there so long as we are lazy...and can't afford better sushi elsewhere.

I normally visit a restaurant at least 3 times before I rate them ... and this is one case where that's not going to happen. The Good - the sushi was decent, with a few choices being pretty good. The service was good and friendly. The Not So Good - the miso soup was awful, it seemed to watered down and I'd swear something in the soup had gone bad. The salad was very limp and warm. While the teriyaki was decent, the rice was obviously old and stale.

I came during the lunch rush and the lady working behind the counter, taking orders was doing an excellent job. She was FAST and friendly. My lunch was pretty good, not the best but I wasn't disappointed. Intimate atmosphere and the bar fits about 6 people. I'd go back.

The food is awesome! There is something for everyone. With lunch Bento plates you get a nice variety and plenty of food. There is a great dinner menu if the sushi bar is not your thing. The staff is really nice! LOVE IT!

one thing about this place, their tempura is PERFECT, with that batter just so that you can almost see the color of the veggies through it.. They even serve a couple of Korean dishes, Kal-bi and Bul-go-gi. Kim-chi, too! The service is great and the ambiance is cozy. It is a smaller restaurant with just 5 booths or so (may be more or less, not sure) and there is a small sushi bar that seats no more than 5 or 6... I haven't sat at the bar, I usually take out or sit in the booths. Anyway, it's a great places. Reasonable prices.

My wife and I have eaten alot of sushi in our days and the best in the tacoma area for the freshest and tastiest sushi is this place. We always get the dynamite roll and the dragon roll, they are always so fresh and so unbelievably tasty. I as well get sashimi alot, the white tuna is great, the red clam and the yellowtail tuna are also so fresh and good. I have no problem when people ask me where to get great sushi, I recommend this place and everytime people thank me for the recommendation. Great sushi, great beer, and great owners, this place is definitely worth spending your hard earned money on. Keep up the good work Lee.

As someone who has a set of chop sticks in the wall there. I am a fan of this place. The owners are very friendly and are quick. We get alot of to-go orders here and everything is just as good as dining in. This place is like half sushi half teriyaki joint. Both are very tasty.

The best place to go in the area for sushi rolls. I even ordered a platter this past weekend that my guests raved about. My personal favorite is the dynamite roll. Expect friendly, fast, and personable service.

Great sushi, great service. You can get a bento box lunch for under 8 bucks that is the best. Highly recommend the Lion King or Hawaiian rolls.

I'm not much of a teriyaki enthusiast but this place kicks every place else out of the water! I had a lunch special bento box with chicken katsu and sashimi today and it was delicious. The sashimi was FRESH, it was not that frozen chewy stuff you get at other restaurants! Besides the food, the atmosphere was very welcoming and the workers were friendly. The owner was extremely thoughtful as well, I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends and family soon!

Can I just say I love this place!!! And I love sushi!!! I am a picky sushi person so when I like a place you have to trust me that it's good :) This place is a small hole in the wall but the food is amazing. The service is good, everyone is always so friendly! I have tried almost every item on their menu so I can't pick one but I love their tempura rolls. Everything tastes fresh and so delicious! Great place if you ever have the desire for sushi :)

Seahawk and Dynamite roll and rainbow are my favorites! The spider was my least favorite but still good quality. Very friendly. Fast when there's little traffic. Even with several orders in front of mine it wasn't too long of a wait. You start with a small app, salad and miso soup! Very cute decor, maybe a little dingy and dated but this is one of my favorite sushi bars and we keep coming back! Hey have a pretty full menu with lots of options. I've only had rolls, don't know if I'll get anything else ever because I just love the rolls so much!

  • Laani M.

I love this place! Their sashimi is all I eat. I mean I eat other things too but the fish taste fresh and not refrigerated which is a hard thug to follow. Their bento box is a good price for what you get. The atmosphere is calm depending what time you go and the employees are very nice and welcoming. I just love it. Feels comfortable.

Where to start? So the moment your drive into this business plaza, the last you'd think was to find a tiny-well themed Japanese restaurant. You walk in and immediately you'd think you're in a restaurant in Japan (if you've been to japan, you'd notice a lot of small restaurants). The decoration you see, from the walls to the tables to the room separators, all compliment the Japanese theme. It all feels authentic, until you see the 'Infinity of Tacoma in Fife.' #confusedInfinity Service was good. The host/server and sushi chef immediately notice you and say hello. Water and menus were quickly brought to the table. Menu is solid. It has all sorts of Japanese dishes. More than you'd expect from such a small store. They had everything from Teriyaki, to noodle dishes, to sushi, to grilled fish. I'm not sure how authentic Teriyaki is to Japan, but we in 'Murica and we love Teriyaki. We ordered three things, The Bento Box with Spicy Tuna Roll and Sashimi, The Bellevue Roll, and Udon. Bento Box is always good. You get to pick two from about 10-12 different items. we got Spicy Tuna Roll and Sashimi and if you think it's actually a really good deal for $13. Sashimi tasted fresh (was not frozen like other sushi restaurants I've been to), and the Spicy Tuna was delicious! Bellevue Roll was an eel roll with Crab, tuna, and fish roe on top. It was the first thing that was brought out - strategic move. The moment it touched my mouth, my taste buds went crazy. I wish I had a camera on my phone (don't ask), so I can show you how professional the presentation was. The place a thick banana-type leaf on a long plate, placed the roll on the leaf and placed a nice fresh orchid on the side. I mean c'mon, an ORCHID? that's some service. The way the present the wasabi, too, is pretty neat too. UDON. I love this Udon. They have several different types - I got the most expensive one (9.99). It was a chicken udon with fish cake thingy, fried tofu, two tempura shrimp, and an egg that poaches (?) itself in the broth. The broth tastes amazing. It's not salty and it has so much flavor. And it was presented in a cast-iron type bowl on a wooden board. This is a good restaurant. You can see they put a lot of time into their decorations, food presentations, and food quality. If I had to put a number to it ........... probably a 4.7 ish They should put a disclaimer " **NOTE** You might be coming out of the restaurant a little more Japanese than you went in. "

I love Sapporo. My coworkers and I go here for lunch often during the work week. They have some of the best sushi I've had in the Tacoma area. Its always fresh and exactly what one would want, so satisfying. Their bento boxes are great. I usually get the calamari katsu and sashimi or California roll. Their California rolls are seriously the best. If you are HUNGRY get a bento box for like $9 and a sushi roll (the dynamite is a safe delicious bet). It comes out to about $20 but its so good. The staff here is great. If you go during lunch time be sure to go when its not the peak lunch hour (12-1pm). You will definitely have to wait to get a table since its a small space. Sapporo, you should expand your space since you're so popular!!! Its tempting to bring a large group here (e.g. birthday lunch/dinner), but its really a place where you go with 1-3 people.

My bill was $140 for 4 people so you know we ordered a lot of food. One of the best sushi place I have ever been. Cozy and cute decoration inside. Not a big restaurant but there are more than 6-7 people working so just worry about your tables, not the wait for the food. The services are pretty friendly and attentive. They came around and checked on the customers if they were doing okay which is good. The sushi rollers never stopped his hands when the orders kept coming which made me wanted to try many rolls in here. I tried spider rolls which were the best to me. You CAN'T complain about the decorations the do on the plates because they did the best job! Beautiful decorations and good quality of food -what are you asking more??? I also tried deluxe rolls, muscles, dumplings thingy and other stuff which I couldn't remember. The wasabi came on the dish as a beautiful flower made me didn't want to ruin it..silly but I bet you might do the same . Good experiences and definitely will be back if we had a chance. Tips: this place is pretty close to water park wild wave so think about this if you go to water park.

I have been to Sapporo twice now I believe. The first time, it was a bland experience. The service was nothing special and we just ordered, got our food, and so it went on. The second experience is probably why I am writing this review. I came with my two sisters and her boyfriend, (one of the younger ones decided to take us out). There wasn't a table/booth for 4 so we ended up on the sushi bar. Which there is nothing wrong with other than directly chit-chatting with the sushi chefs while they prepare everyone's foods. The sister treating us out and I are both very familiar with sushi restaurants because we both worked in sushi restaurants haha. So we just talked with the chefs while awaiting our foods since it seemed to be a bit crowded. We both got "schooled" from the chefs that night on our sushi [Japanese] lingo... Well there are a few things they misinterpreted from my side because I was taught to call certain things one thing while I knew what it really meant. Anyways enough about that, time to talk about the food! We ordered a variety of rolls and nigiri to share. The sister who isn't such a sushi fanatic ordered the Chicken Yakisoba and that was just as good! I think it was a tad bit salty but still the seasoning was great. This is so embarrassing, I don't quite remember the names of the rolls we ate that one day. I had been so busy I couldn't write reviews for a few weeks. Usually, if I don't remember I go to their online website to check the names but Sapporo doesn't have one ... I know we had some nigiri and they were fresh and delicious, the rolls were just as good! Definitely worth coming back for.

This is by far, my absolute favorite sushi place! It's pricey, but well worth it! I always order rolls and nigiri, and everything tastes so fresh. The staff is very friendly and attentive as well.

I had lunch here and would be back. Great quality. I ordered the fresh salmon nigiri which was smooth and melt in your mouth. Not like the rectangular chunky pieces at a lower quality places. Spicy tuna roll wad quite good, as well.

I love coming here! Always super fresh and so good. I got their sushi and sashimi lunch. It's well presented and so tasty. And they are quick too so I can pick up on my lunch as well and be back in time!

Yum! Really enjoyed this place. First, it started with delicious miso soup. We ordered the gyoza for an appetizer and it was some of the best I've had. I had the bento box with tempura. The teriyaki chicken was really good and the tempura was light and delicious. I also tried some sushi. Now, I'm not usually a fan of sushi but after trying it here, I am now a fan! I tried the spicy tuna rolls which were so tasty. I will definitely be back!

This turned out to be a nice older spot with wonderful charm and great sushi: Hopping off the P500, I swung by here for some dinner and get me a Hite beer & a couple nigiri sushi (salmon, smoked, roe and tuna). The fish was great with no afterthoughts; 'ate them the finger way. Hite is good, mmm. The lady was pleasantly friendly and the rest of the [Korean] staff seemed nice. There's plenty of tables and a super small sushi bar where the 2 sushi chefs are. This area is tiny, yet plenty of charm & decor packed in it, slightly raised and has the flatscreen up in a corner. You might get a predictable glance from a chef since they're practically in front of the screen (the baseball game was on). Along with the solid food selection, you can find a pleasantly surprising selection of beer and sake! I also smiled at the large (I think 1.8L?) black bottle they had (empty or full?) which is also on my window sill... I need to sip that sucker, again, some day. Perhaps the main thing that proves their age (and neglect? not sure) was when I went to the men's room - stuck in the past with a non-secure sink faucet; just hold it still while you turn the knobs. Great fish, beer and service!

Best ever!! This sushi is magical I have always been a sushi lover and recently watched the documentary "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" on Netflix so I have been here more frequently the last few weeks. The movie made me crave sushi! I work nearby here and my coworkers and I all love it. They are always fast, friendly, they always get your order right, and the food is amazing. I can't highlight a particular roll, they are all delish. Bento box is a good deal. One time my boss and I were feeling adventurous and tried the Calamari Katsu. We were expecting strips or rings but it came as a steak. The Katsu sauce wasn't the best flavor to go with it but it was tasty and different. Lunch time here is crowded so we either call ahead for to-go order or go in before noon. Don't expect to linger at the table when you're finished eating, people are standing in line waiting for a table to free up. It's a small place that is run efficiently.

I always enjoy coming here and getting the bento box. The bento box comes with salad, rice, and your choice of two items which include tempura, a couple different types of teriyaki, and California rolls along with about ten different other options. I tend to always pick chicken or pork teriyaki and tempura. The food is always fresh and I love that the tempura is just lightly fried and not caked in batter. They don't skimp on portion size at all, definitely a good amount of food for about $12. Service is fast and efficient and if you come on your lunch hour you will not be stressing about making it back to work on time. There are a couple different seating options from small to big tables to the sushi bar where they have a TV usually playing sports. They have all their beverages on display above the sushi bar too if you want to check out what you would be getting before you order something you're not familiar with as well. If you come here often enough you get your own set of chopsticks with your name on it that they keep behind the front counter! I have yet to earn my own pair accomplish that but it is on my list :)

It was my birthday today and this was my choice for dinner, we had a wonderful time, the food was great, the service was perfect. I had a little dish with a cucumber on one side and I had to ask what the other side contained, suprise she gives my shoulder a hug and says that's squid. It was the most delicious little bit of heaven I've ever had. Miso was so tastey, my Katsu plate was piled high. It was the very best birthday at 51 I think I've had.

I've decided to catch up with old friends here and our experience was second to none! The waitress was a college student who was very attentive and extremely courteous. And the food was superb! Would definitely dine here again!

  • Christina G.

Overall the food was good. The appetizers that come with your dinner were great. Ordered the Hawaiian roll and Tiger Eye roll. The sauces were good but very overpowering. Too much sauce took away from the fish and the rest of the textures in the roll. On average, everything was very sweet. Nigiri sushi was good.

  • Carol H.

No matter what you order it will look beautiful, like artwork. Their Dragon Roll actually looks like a dragon! If I don't order sushi I will get the Bento Box and select the Sashimi and Saba Shioyaki (fried mackerel), I like fish what can I say :). The dining area and sushi bar are small so come early to beat the crowds!

  • Corinne M.

This is a pretty good place for sushi, I really liked it. These guys know what they're doing, and the service was very nice. My favorite part was when the Itamae (sushi chef) started singing "Just another day", by John Secada; seriously that made my day, I just love it when chefs, or staff sing while working, it truly makes for a welcoming environment, loved it. I did not give them 5 stars for two reasons. 1. The lunch specials are decently priced, but the rolls are expensive. 2. If you're not a soda dinker be prepared for the nice lady to become fake nice, and to flop, yes, just flop your soup on the table to where it spills a little on the table, when you tell you you only want water. I still really liked it here, I guess I'll just have to order soda and not drink it next time, so that I get the same good service.

One of my favorite places to eat. Excellent sushi and Japanese cuisine. Both lunch and dinner bento combinations are very affordable. Try the dynamite roll!

I was here for lunch. The chicken Katsu was pretty good it had a great crunch to it. The soup was also tasty. The staff was friendly. This was my second time here. When I was there the workers on break were eating the food which is a good thing - if it is good enough for me it is good enough for them. It looks like they have a bunch of regular s because they have personalize chopsticks boxes with people's name on it.

  • Michelle S.

I have never wrote a review and yelp has never failed me, but this time it did. The bento box with tempura was lukewarm and gooey. It seems like they had a big take out order which disrupted everything. So very disappointing.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. Great food, great service and a friendly atmosphere. By far the best sushi in the south sound.

  • Bob J.

By far my favorite sushi place in the South Sound. Always great quality sushi served in generous portions. Presentation is top drawer. Other items on the menu are also very good. Bento lunches cannot be beat. Never had a disappointing meal here. Family owned and operated. The staff makes you feel at home and welcome. Worth the drive to have a great meal in a comfortable atmosphere.

Very nice service and dedicated chefs who've been doing this for a long time, this place by far has the best sushi I've ever tasted for such a reasonable price. Plus their presentation is just beautiful. Go get a bento box for lunch and you have to try their caterpillar roll !!!

  • Jonah R.

Definitely stop on in for some sushi. A local favorite. I've been going there once a week since I moved here. Service is good, food always comes fast. They have a wide selection too. Good variety of saki, wines and other Japanese alcohol. You can even bring your own sticks and they will hold them for you in a box with your name. Small, but intimate and cozy. Prices are good also. I eat 2 rolls and a drink every time for right around 20$....depending on the rolls!

    (4)
  • Tyler P.

This is definitely a place worth trying. It's a smaller hole in the wall/"Mom and Pop" type of shop, but worth looking into if you fancy some sushi or a good lunch deal. With the smaller space, you get more of an intimate atmosphere and great service, as they are very attentive. It's hard to find these places now days with all the bigger chains moving in. The food was great. You can really appreciate the sushi, not some cheap imitation. Prices are decent, especially for the portion, so that's a bonus. But again, for authentic sushi, if things are a bit pricey, you can't complain. You are getting the real thing afterall. Needless to say, I will definitely be coming back to enjoy the food and atmosphere.

    (5)
  • Maylie H.

Sushi here was decent. We had about 6 different items. Spicy tuna, dragon, Seahawks, dynamite, agedashi tofu, spider, volcano roll and a few pieces of tuna. Everything tasted good. The portions were huge. Service was very friendly. Would defiantly come back with back up eaters.

These guys have the best katsudon in the entire Pugetropolis area! We always stop here when we ride our motorcycles down to Southsound BMW. We pass on the free bratwurst at SSBMW and ride over to the Sapporo every time. We're going there again this Saturday!

This place is just amazing. I would highly recommend the bento box deal and ALL of the sushi is fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this place to everyone had sushi and teriyaki etc etc Japanese style restaurant. Very fancy dancy.

  • Shawna S.

This place met my hopes. Delicious sushi and an easy atmosphere. It was busy for only two sushi chefs so a little slow but I can easily forgive that by with the quality of fish. My only word of advice...if you are gluten intolerant they do not have GF soy sauce available.

    (5)
  • Steve L.

This place is consistent. It is very small and can only accommodate probably around 30 people at most including the bar, but it's also what makes the atmosphere and service better. Their food is always good, and they have legitimate sushi, i.e. Sashimi Their rolls are good as well but this is the place to get the bang for your buck. It's hard to find any other place around the Federal Way/Tacoma area where you can get as much good, quality food for the portion sizes and price. Bento boxes here are amazing.

    (5)
  • Katie N.

I had the bento lunch box- while tasty and just fine to eat, I felt it came out so fast it MUST have been pre-made. The chicken warm, but not hot off a oven, the California roll cool but not freshly chilled. Just about average sushi. Not out of the world. Would I return? Possibly, but would order a fresh regular roll.

    (3)
  • Kristin B.

This place is the real deal. I'm picky about my Japanese food, and Sapporo does not disappoint. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because there is so little seating that the line is almost always out the door. But that also tells you how good they are! Truly authentic Japanese food. Owned and operated by a Japanese family (sorry but this DOES matter). And the price is right too!! Delicious!

  • Sarah E.

We came to this place completely on a whim while searching the area for somewhere to eat. This place is pretty small, with only about 4 tables, but they do have some sushi bar seating. We just missed the bento box lunch specials, BUT they have bento box dinner specials too! The bento box options are pretty diverse, so there's something for everyone. I picked the calamari katsu, bc it just sounded amazing. There was also a tempura entrée selection which was pretty standard. The beef ribs entree had a generous amount of riblets that were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Their take on the cali roll was also in the bento box, and it was the only sushi I had here, but it was pretty good. The fish tasted OK and the rice to fish ration was great. I don't judge a place on a cali roll, since it's such a basic sushi. Overall I enjoyed this place. They have a friendly staff, great bento box deals, and a great selection of food. It's a bummer it is in such a random industrial area, BUT it's not the far from the freeway!

    (4)
  • Yuriy M.

The most boring sushi ever! It tastes ok but its all identical. I ordered California roll, volcano roll and tuna roll and each roll was made exactly the same. This place lacks creativity and cannot offer you that, "Wow!" Your looking for. If your looking for a place to have great sushi and to enjoy this amazing traditional food you need to look else where. Their prices are more expensive compared to other better sushi bars. Not worth it at all.

I have been coming here for years and not once have I been disappointed. The teriyaki is good and the sushi is even better. They have good portions as well. You will not be disappointed with this place.

  • Justin H.

Nice little spot for lunch time.. There are a couple teriyaki places to choose from in Fife and this is one of my favorites to go to. They have the typical teriyaki staples to choose from but also have a pretty good selection of sushi as well. I have gotten their bento box a couple times and always walk away with leftovers. Food is fresh and good, a little on the pricey side but nothing crazy or even out of the ordinary. The service has been excellent each time and they are very welcoming to their customers.

    (4)
  • Cody P.

My girlfriend and I each had a bento box, hers with beef short ribs and California roll and mine with pork katsu and nigiri. All of it was very good, especially the short ribs. And each box was only $12. Needless to say, we will be back and will try and make this a regular place. Hands down, best Asian food in Fife!

  • Eric D.

This is quite possibly my favorite sushi place now. Excellent quality on the fish and the way the employee's treat the customers. One feels like home very quickly and that is only after the first visit. I will be returning.

  • Meghan S.

This place is awesome. My husband and I are big sushi fans. We've eaten at dozens of places around town and have made this our go to spot. The fish is fresh and the presentation is top notch. Plus the owners, Sue and Lee, make you feel like you are apart of their family when eating there.

I just sent here tonight and I must say I was quite impressed. First off, the service was great. It was moderately just but we got seated and greeted right away. I order the mariners roll and the Philadelphia roll. Both were amazing. My fiance had the chicken yakisoba and must say it was very good. We have a heard time finding a place with good yakisoba but this is the place to go. Will defiantly be back again!

One of the best secrets of fife. Food is awesome, staff friendly, and the food came quick. We have been eating here for years and never had a bad experience. Try the dynamite sushi roll~ and the bento box your way!!!!

Top-notch sushi with the best, freshest tasting fish I've found in Washington. Small place (only about ten tables) with efficient service and a charming wall of personal chopsticks labeled with the names of their most frequent customers.

Best sushi available in Fife. Fresh ingredients and friendly staff everytime I go in for a work lunch. Service is great when I have time to actually sit and enjoy my meal. Grab a menu when you are in there for future reference, they do not have a website...

Best Sushi in town. Their seafood always looks and tastes fresh. Staff is always welcoming, professional and fast as long as you don't go during rush hour. Prices are awesome if you are considering the amount of food you get. The owners take pride on their business and remember everybody even after just one visit. Sushi lovers must eat here at least once. You will probably become a regular like me.

Had lunch here today for first time. Place is very small so glad we went at off time. Service was excellent for being packed as they seem to have plenty of help. I had the Sushi and Sashimi lunch and it was excellent. Wife ordered a couple rolls and enjoyed both. We will return.

This was down the street from our hotel and the first sushi place we found on the right side of the street (what can I say, we were too exhausted from our trip to turn left). I was nervous about random sushi in a town I didn't know but we were pleasantly surprised to find a small and friendly sushi restaurant with a (small, maybe 5 seater) sushi bar attended by at least one chef. We chose to sit at a table (most of the tables are almost like booths but with chairs which is nice for a combination of privacy and flexible seating for those who need more room.) Our waitress was friendly and promptly gave us drinks (sake and beers, they have a list, a few choices of each including some higher end sakes). My husband got a cooked dish, they have several on the menu and I opted for sushi of the Nigiri variety (maguro and Hamachi) along with a seaweed salad (huge), and edamame for us to share. They also comped us a small tasting appetizer of cucumber salad and calamari sunomono (just guessing that's what it's called, it tasted like it) perfect for getting us hungry. The fish was fresh I am happy to say, we had a great time after our long trip that day and felt lucky that this place happened to be in our path. Aside from my own experience I saw people come in from very different walks of life to get take out. That also told me we were in a great place where locals were regularly relying on these nice folks to provide great food with the comfortable environment of a bar like Cheers where they remember, maybe not your name, but which sushi roll you like.

Love this place, food is amazing and the plates are plenty of food. The bento boxes are great with so many options to customize my lunch or dinner.

I absolutely love this place! They are very good about remembering you if you show up often. The calamari katsu is amazing, no fishy or rubbery flavor just soft and delicious. The tempura is light, the sushi is freshly made and the people are wonderful. Great food, great people, fast service!

This place has awesome sushi!. The rolls taste great and are made with very fresh fish and vegetables. The staff at Sapporo are always friendly and attentive to your needs. The dynamite, spicy crunch and the volcano are my favorite rolls.

Amazing sushi. Reasonable prices. Warm and friendly service. Plus free miso, salad, and a delicious calamari salad! How nice of them, am I right? Sunshine roll is my favorite. Rainbow roll is also my favorite. Dynamite is pretty great too. Actually, come to think of it, there hasn't been anything that I haven't liked, and I've tried most of their rolls. This has become my favorite sushi place in Tacoma. Wait, this isn't in Tacoma. Well, they beat out every other place I've been to in/around Tacoma, so there.

At the time I'm posting this review, there are already 34 others that have given this place an overwhelming response declaring their love for this place, so let that be a testament of the great quality you receive when you go to Sapporo Sushi and Roll. In my mind I usually reserve 5 stars for best of the best. While this place may not be a top shelf 5 star restaurant, in the city of Fife and surrounding areas, this is one of the best, if not THE best place to eat for this sort of food. The restaurant building itself is a smaller, (almost) hole in the wall, place. They have a sushi bar where you can sit if you like, and maybe 10 regular tables (+/- a couple) besides the bar. If you plan on going for lunch, get there a little before noon or after 12:30, as it will likely be fairly busy. The do the thing where regulars can have their own chopsticks, which they will store along the wall, so when you show up you feel like they really know you and you are welcome. The food is really great, seasoned and cooked better than a lot of places in the area and the prices are fair. However, if you go for lunch (11:00am-3:00pm) they have a lunch special, which is an incredible value. The bento box lunch is a great way to go if you want a good amount of food for a decent price. In addition, they have a pretty decent selection of Saki and a few other beers. The staff has always been very welcoming, seeming to rememeber who you are and at the very least, recognizing you even if they don't remember your name. I haven't had to specifically order the last few times I've visted because she rattles off my meal and asks if I would like the usual and I only frequent this place from time to time when I'm in the mood for this type of food. All in all, Sapporo is a great place to eat if you're in the area for lunch, and even their regular prices are prety decent.

I learned to love sushi at Sapporo!!!! I started out not even caring for California Rolls, but they do theirs perfectly and I learned to not only endure it just so I could be cool and eat sushi with my friends, but look forward to going! Then, I discovered the dynamite roll. I realized I liked the spicy tuna when I had a bite of my friends, so I dared to be adventurous and try this spicy tuna, crab, shrimp, and tempura crumb roll. And since, I have never ever gone there without ordering at least 1. My dad and uncle now eat sushi as well because of this restaurant. I'm still somewhat of a baby when it comes to a lot of raw fish, but I can eat so many delicious rolls here because they are combined with shrimp, crab or veggies. The Garden Crunch roll is my second favorite, it has a small "salad" on top with an apple cider vinegar dressing that I absolutely love. I live in Tacoma and make a trip down to Sapporo at least 2 times a month. The lunch special with Udon is a crazy good deal and sometimes I get that and a dynamite roll just because everything tastes so good! I walk away spending barely anything and always have an entire lunch leftover!

I love this place! Best bento box combo ever in fife or in Tacoma! Get the California rolls and spicy tuna rolls! They seriously melt in your mouth deliciousness!

One of our favorite places to go for sushi. I love the squid salad, and pickled cucumbers! Also, we love the miso soup. I don't like the side salad that they serve, but my boyfriend does. My favorite roll is the dynamite roll. But the classics are good, too: spicy tuna or salmon roll. We always receive friendly service. Why not 5 stars? The bathroom could be cleaner.

My favorite sushi restaurant in Tacoma area. The owner makes a large variety of sushi rolls. You get a full plate of amazing high quality sushi for about $10 including soup, salad and tea. My favorite is Sunshine Rolls - salmon and lemon on top os it. Cherry rolls have tuna, Dragon roll is fantastic if you like eel. Hawaiian rolls are very unique and have tangerine sauce over it. Try something new, you will be surprised how fresh and great it is. The interior of the place is old and very simple. The owners cook and serve the food and they have a specific character. Go there for sushi and enjoy it without judging other things. I have not eaten fried food here. They are closed on Sunday.

Since moving to Washington I have been looking for a good sushi place. This place has really great sushi at a reasonable price. The people are very nice there too. The owner is the one that took my order and we talked a little while it was being made to go. I will be back here again.

Not a fan of their sashimi or rolls. They had a strange sweetness to them. Maybe it was the wasabi. I would try a bento box if I return. You could easily split one though. Too much food!

Awesome. What a great experience. A large restaurant with some Japanese-style, sunken tables that are private. We didn't sit in one of them though. A large selection of sushi and other traditional Japanese dishes priced well. It was the closest thing I have had to sushi in Seattle.

Found myself going to Fife and checked my bookmarks and thought what the heck - lets get this on off the list. Was fairly easy to find - was packed at noon - there was a wait to be seated. Opted for takeout. Decided on the Bento Box - asked the lady at the counter for recommendations on what to put in it (it comes with rice and salad) Told her I didn't want teriyaki (not a huge fan) and she kept recommending the tempura - glad I took her advice there were several pieces (onion, shrimp, potatoe, mushrooms and more) and it was excellent! Also, got the sashimi - 5 really nice, fresh pieces. I waited less than 5 minutes and paid $8.80. Would definitely stop by to get a Bento Box to-go lunch here again!

Had the Spicy Tuna roll at lunch with some hot sake. Not bad at all. My lunch partner had the Bento Box, and said it was just okay. I'd be back for lunch again, just be sure to get in before 11:30 as this is a very small place, and it'll be standing room only by then.

After reading some of the great reviews I stopped in here for to go expecting at the least average sushi.. Unfortunately yelp failed me on this one! I honestly can't say one good thing about the rolls I ordered.. California roll had way more mayo in it then crab, tempura flakes were stale as can be and the rice was overly pungent with sake & vinegar.. It was so gross I couldn't stand anymore then a few bites.. What a disappointment! Service was welcoming and friendly but that's not enough for me to ever return..

We are new to sushi. My wife Suzanne and I, slowly introduced ourselves into the world of sushi by eating quite often at a rather good sushi belt restaurant Blue Island. It was all we knew... and we liked it. Today, after reading other reviews, we timidly ventured into Sapporo... Still being timid, Suzanne ordered a Cali roll. I ordered a bento box with spicy tuna roll. W O W ! ! ! ! This whole new world of flavor just hit us between the eyes.... we were blown away by how delicious the food is and how warm and inviting the staff are. We will be back often !!!

I make the drive from Auburn to eat here. It's a small place ran by friendly, but busy people. I'm guessing a lot of regulars frequent the place because the waitress seems to know everybody. The meal starts off with miso, squid salad, cuke salad, and some salad salad. I haven't eaten a bad roll here, it's fresh and more innovative than the standard spicy tuna roll fare. My all time favorite roll is the Sunshine. Occasionally you will get a loose roll and it will crumble between your chopsticks. If you come here during peak hours, plan to wait.

Tiny little hole in the wall where all the locals go. Why do we go there? Yum. Its that simple. Fresh. Great service. The portions are more than generous. My iced tea was so so. I will be back.

Second visit here - this time for lunch, first time was for dinner. Biggest complaint? Why does this place have to be in Fife and not Puyallup/Sumner? I think my wife and I would be here every other week. (Sorry Ichiban and Kanpai!) This place feel like a sushi version of a quaint neighborhood British pub. The place is small, the decor is fun, the selection is quite nice and tasty, and the people who work here are wonderful! First, get over the fact that this is in Fife and in strip mall/industrial park site. Fife is freeway close and just don't speed on the surface streets. The place is small and the decor is really charming. Feels "warm" and not stuffy. The sushi chefs seem a bit stoic at first, but really are focused on their craft and they will engage in conversation with you (Tip: if there are just two of you - sit at the sushi bar). The woman in charge of greeting and serving - you want to hug her at the end of the meal. The food gets 3-5 stars depending on the item. Miso - too salty for my taste - but boy is it tasty. Both times we ate here we got the bento boxes. Amazing value - particularly for the quantity and quality. The choices are great - there is something for every taste. Choices include beef or chicken teriyaki (the chicken teriyaki is some of the best I've ever had - particularly for a bento selection), gyoza, tempura, nigiri sushi, sashimi, katsu and California roll. Salad - typical iceberg with too much typical Americanized dressing. It's better than most - but we don't come to Japanese/Sushi places for the lettuce salad then - do we? Tempura - nice selection. The best? No - but really good (wife ordered both time) Teriyaki chicken. Juicy, not overly sauced, generous portion, real grill flavor. Good stuff. Nigiri sushi - to be honest - as good or better than I've had elsewhere - including Japonessa in Seattle. In fact Sapporo could hold its own competing with Nijo in Pioneer Sq. I think that's pretty hard to do! (The sushi rice tastes like sushi rice should - like at Umi or Shiro's. The maguro was like butter.... The ubiquitous California Roll.....it's really good here! Is it crab or krab. Not sure, but it's not the real stuff it tastes fresh. (My wife thinks this is some of the best CR she had had in ages anywhere - including when she is in LA on business). Calamari salad. Don't let it scare you. If you took a bit you might think it was a delightful cold chicken salad with lots of ginger. It's a small side that comes with the bento - so you might as well take "an adventure bite." Can't wait to come back and enjoy some other sushi bar selections and hot sake - maybe some day get my own set of chopsticks!

While I am unimpressed with the quality of their sushi, I do come here for the teriyaki and CA roll. Hey, there are days when I crave for those two items in particular, don't judge. The bento portions are ridiculous. I can make lunch and dinner out of one order of teriyaki and CA roll, and the bill is all of $9. The service is actually really great. They remember faces well and know how to get return business. Most people who come are regulars. You can even have them hold a pair of your chopsticks so that you have your own utensils. There are only a handful of tables and booths. I wouldn't plan on getting a seat after 11:30 for lunch. Their takeout service is quick--the order is usually up within 15 minutes. Last note, don't order anything with raw fish because that will take away all the credit from this place.

I've enjoyed many sushi rolls here. I like the people, they are very friendly and personable. The sushi rolls are fresh and tasty. They have a variety of rolls available and will even cater to your specific wishes. Also, the prices are great! The only thing is...it's small and rather plain inside. But, maybe if it had the "fine dining" atmosphere, you would be paying more too! I'm happy every time I go there. Love the dynamite roll and rainbow roll.

Great rolls, Great Sashimi, Great service. They are normally really busy but this doesn't take away from their greatness! I've been several times now! My boyfriend thinks this is the best in the area! Loved the Sapporo roll, lots of fresh crunch veggies!

This is my favorite go-to local sushi joint. My fiance and I are regulars, and have never been disappointed. While I have never ordered anything I don't like, I enjoy their teriyaki and yakisoba while my fiance always gets the Dyanamite Roll. I also love how the owners and employees have come to know us by name, and unless we stray from our "usual" order, they also know what we order and how we like our food prepared. If you haven't tried Sapporo, I would recommend it if you are looking for a low-key night out. The restaurant is always clean and cozy, but it is by no means "fancy". As a repeat customer, you will always feel at home and comfortable. Also, if you sit at the sushi bar, you get to enjoy some tunes by those preparing your meal :) Enjoy!

My first time visiting and also new to Japanese cuisine and we find the owner was very patient and helpful in helping us with the menu and explaining the items to us. The food was very good and plentiful. We'll definately be repeat customers.

Love this place! I hear lots of reviews about bad miso soup but I think it's fine. I don't like my miso too salty and over- powering so I guess it's preferential. The fish is always Fresh & Quality is superb. Dressing might come heavy so get it on the side or request a different dressing. Dynamite is awesome and service is great. We come quite often for our Sushi cravings;)

We moved away from Seattle a year ago and miss Sapporo so much. We have been searching for anywhere with as fresh and superb sushi since we moved without success. We lived there for 3 years and were almost weekly regulars and did not find anywhere in or around Seattle that could compare, anywhere that had similar quality was twice the price with half the attention. Our personal favorites were the sunshine and dynamite but their philly and spicy crunchy rolls are great also. The complimentary miso, salad, and seaweed/squid salads are a very nice warm up and although they are average appetizers it is refreshing to see a place that knows how to treat people rather than charging me 5 bucks for a cup of miso. We thoroughly miss Sapporo and you can bet that anytime we travel back to Seattle we will head straight south from SeaTac for some Sapporo sushi.

I ate here with a coworker for dinner. The place is a little small, probably more gear for lunch. The sashimi was fresh, I didn't try any rolls except for the spicy tune roll. It was ok, not out this world. Service was fast. The owners were not Japanese so I usually knock a star off for that.

This place was recommended by a friend and finally had a chance to try it. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the sukiyaki and a few sushi rolls. The rolls were decent, but the sukiyaki was not good at all. I don't think I will be returning here.

I enjoyed the Poke salad there...though the rice wine vinegar is a bit strong in their sushi rice. Next time I'll try their Korean style Poke salad.

I haven't been in a while but I used to get their Chicken Yakisoba and I can't wait to go back (Maybe I'll try something new?) Always friendly atmosphere and a good place to stop and eat if in the South end.

  • Alan R.

This is my joint when it comes to teriyaki chicken or beef, the Yakisoba isn't bad. and their california rolls are decent. This is a locals place so be aware on fridays and saturday nights their is usually a wait due to the limited seating. The service is always fast and pleasant and they recognize a repeat customer. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for quality cuts of meat, great portions and good service.

I am not a sushi purist. I know nothing about authentic Japanese cooking. I do know that Lee and Sue are some of the nicest proprieters I've met at any restaurant and whether true to it's roots or not, I've enjoyed everything I've ever ordered here. Tip: if you don't want a creamy dressing on your salad, order the house-made apple ginger dressing.

First and Foremost I am not a Sushi EXPERT, BUT, I love Sushi. I live in FW and we found that this place has the Best Sushi around. Also the Tempura is always perfect. I always get an order of Tempura with 3 rolls. We have been going there for a few years now and it always seems to be fresh fish. Squid Salad is also to die for. I just wish they would give you more. After finding this place we dont go to the other Sushi places in my area. Only drawback is the size of this place. Its small. They only have about 7-8 tables in the place.

  • Danny N.

Really good sushi, fast service, and good people. They had a lot of sushi but I for one needed a lil bit more selection. Don't get me wrong they have a decent amount to choose from. They were pretty much on top of their game with service and everything. If your in the area of Fife stop by it's not far from the freeway. Conclusion Pro: Affordable Good Fast service Good people Decent amount of Sushi Cons: A little bit more sushi types...Like a Seattle or Portland Roll...etc etc.

Some would say that Fife is the fast food capital of the world. Name it and you will probably find it here in Fife. Minus a Burger King, you have to cross the river for that one. So to have a solid affordable sushi joint in the area is no less than a godsend! The sushi at Sapporo is solid. Sometimes people think that when sushi is affordable it might not be the best quality. Wrong. The sushi here is affordable and the sushi chef takes care in preparing his dishes. I don't think I have had a bad roll yet. My absolute favorite dish there is the Dynamite roll, which is like a California or imitation crab roll (I think) topped with finely minced spicy tuna, tempura crispies, and a Japanese mayo based sauce. I never really bothered to find out what type of roll it is because its ALL about the spicy tuna and tempura crispies on top!!!! To me, that's what really makes the dish. Mmmmmmm Tempura crispies..... In addition I think that almost all dishes come with a complementary salad, a little dish of pickled items like squid and shitakes, and miso soup. The people who run Sapporo are super friendly and If you still don't believe me when I say this place is good look out for the wall of chopstick boxes that belong to people who eat there regularly.

  • T L.

This place is okay. The rice is way over seasoned to the point of only tasting rice vinegar instead of the fish. The older lady that works there is rude and will tell you to hurry up! The rolls are fairly unique but super garish; torched cheese ontop of a california roll!? Almost all of the rolls are a variation of the california. Some people call it the "disney land of sushi". Take that how you will... They do make a decent tuna poke.

I've eaten here several times and am the proud owner of a set of "regular's chopsticks". This restaurant is superb. My wife is from the Pacific Islands and I spent well over a decade living in Hawaii, so we have seen some sushi in our time and know our way around fish. The service is excellent, the menu is large and the fish is nothing less than spectacular. I haven't EVER been disappointed here. This is a very casual atmosphere and you can even order take out. These folks know how to run a small restaurant right. We take friends and family there often and they in turn always love it and return there with quests of their own. If you want fish that is cheap and comes on a belt that everyone gets to breathe on and touch then head up the street because this place only served the freshest fish. I love this place and rate it as one of my all time favorites!

I walked in just as they were opening at 10:30 am. The lady opened the door and greeted me with a warm and friendly smile. I work right around the corner and have been craving sushi for the longest time! So I ordered the Unagi roll, Spider roll, California roll, and Tuna roll. Ugh...I guess it was ok. The rice was falling apart and it was kind of sweet, but very salty at the time. I think it's too much rice vinegar. Way too much. It killed the flavor of the eel and crab. While the service was great, I believe the food could have been better.
