This little sushi restaurant on Main Street has a good selection of fusion rolls and bento boxes. I ordered the Bothell roll which is made with spicy tuna, spicy scallop, avocado, asparagus, cucumber & masago. The fish here is very fresh and the hot food tasty. I gave this place full marks because it has a great selection, the food is fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. The service is friendly but unintrusive which I find important when enjoying a great meal. It is one of the best sushi places I been to in this area.

Awesome food and great service. I have eaten here three times so far and consistently have had a great experience.

First of all. They have an aquarium in the sushi bar, hand out with the turtles. ... second. Their food is amazing. Only gripe, stay open later!

I first ate at Hana over a decade ago, and to this day their sushi is still the best I have ever had...and I have eaten sushi in Hawaii. Their ebi, unagi and masago are absolutely unbeatable, and the calamari is fresh, crisp and has an addicting dipping sauce. The chicken karaage is perfectly breaded and seasoned as well. Whenever I am anywhere near Bothell, Hana is the place to go.

Went on Saturday night. Great ambiance. Very fresh and high quality fish (varieties of Tuna were exceptionally good). Attentive staff. Will definitely return.

Good rainbow rolls, my family eats here once a month and the food and service is mostly consistent. The place gets little busy on Friday nights, so be prepared to wait.

very good experience over all. I feel like I left Bothell and was transported to somewhere in Japan when I walked inside. Every dish I ordered came quickly and was very good. They serve Gen Mai Cha which is toasted barley and brown rice steeped with green tea. So great during this hot weather we're having! The Bothell Roll was very good and the Unagi was the best I've ever had. also had a really great seaweed salad with cucumbers in a fresh cold brine. the fried oysters were extremely fresh. didn't know Bothell had such a thing!!

Way too expensive for the quality they provide. Average at best.

We were at the Vintage Bothell Wine Walk tonight and stopped in for a couple of rolls and chirashi, our tummy's were grumbling, excellent service and amazing sushi. Will definitely return. Husband said it was the best chirashi he's ever had. Thank you! (Bow)

Depending on what you eat, can be EXPENSIVE (for the area) BUT...... You get what you pay for here. Call me the "King County Sushi Critic" I find myself frequently criticizing places for poor value. This is one of the few expensive places I have no complaints about even considering these are downtown Seattle/Bellevue prices in Bothell. BEWARE YELP MENU PRICES ARE INCORRECT: The Full Menu link on their yelp page has incorrect prices (prices listed here are about 20-30% lower than they actually are. Yelp menu must be VERY OLD - lists sushi price by the piece - they actually charge per 2 pieces. CA Roll is listed as $3.95 when it's actually $6.95 and Salmon/Hamachi listed at $2.10 per piece ($4.20 for two) when it's really $5.50 for two pieces. Maybe these were prices many years ago?!?) A pleasant traditional Japanese atmosphere. Not huge, not tiny. Not fancy, not divey. Beware that there can be quite a wait Friday and Saturday nights. This establishment is run by Japanese people who are very friendly. Good service but we went very late right before close. So during busy periods, probably not a good place to go if you're really hungry and lack patience. Quality of fish is top notch. Uni and Toro were excellent and well worth it at $8 each. Loved the Panko Scallop appetizer (a good deal too.) Portions are generous albeit on par for the prices they are charging. I'd say the value here is "borderline questionable" considering the area you are in, but the quality and quantity is high enough to not walk away feeling ripped off even though your bill was nearly $100 for sushi/sashimi for two people with two drinks each. I will return on pay day (lol.) If typically your dinner isn't comprised mostly of the higher-end sushi/sashimi choices (you do a combination, cooked food, or just a couple rolls), your bill will be much more reasonable. If you want the "good stuff" and don't mind paying for it, I doubt there is a better choice in a 7 mile radius.

The first time that I went to this restaurant, my husband and I were greeted and chose to sit at the bar. The chefs behind the bar are very friendly, are happy to take orders directly, and seem to genuinely love what they do. Miso Soup came complimentary with our sushi orders, and the food was fantastic. When we had finished our meal, the chef behind the bar asked us if this was our first time at the restaurant, and we answered "yes." He then placed an order for complimentary mochi ice cream for us for dessert. I was just astounded by how amazing the staff was, and how kind they were. We will definitely be going to this place many times!

My husband and I are avid fans of this sushi place. Food and service is consistently excellent. Very friendly staff, clean establishment and fresh food. We enjoy the watching the owner behind the sushi bar create wonderful rolls. Desert is a must...mochi ice cream in different flavors.

Awesome sushi. Owner was there at the sushi bar, making sushi. Fresh fish. Will come back

This is by far one of the best and most memorable Sushi places in Washington that I've been to. We've been back repeatedly and have consistently received great service and great food. The seafood is always fresh and the service is always top notch. Highly recommend to anyone who is an avid sushi eater. :)

Very delicious, great service, personable staff, they remember us and what we like. Good portions fish on the sushi, and always super fresh and delicous. Try the Hamachi sushi. Mmm, I am craving some sushi now.

My new favorite sushi spot! Upon walking in the door I was immediately great with a smile and sat at the bar where they had the fish fillets on display as well as a small aquarium built into the bar. The chefs behind the bar were very friendly and encourage you to order from them directly. Miso soup came complimentary before my meal. Best salmon nigiri I have ever had! It is more expensive than sushi zone down the road, but you get what you pay for! Heartier portions, and much higher quality fish. The sushi at Hana is melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Top it off with a warm bottle of sake, and you'll feel spoiled rotten!

I went here the other night when my boyfriend and I were craving sushi. We are usually sushi snobs and are picky about where we go but this place really surprised us! We had the TNT roll, I wish it had a little more spice but it was delicious.

Hana Sushi is a small, but very unique place. We were seated at the bar. The chefs behind the bar speak English with Japanese accent, and they are very friendly. It's our first time to the place, so we just ordered sushi roll to be safe. Later we found that their fish was very fresh. We will definitely get back there again for sashimi.

Good sushi and taste very fresh! Thier tempora is some of the best I have had. They have a very nice quiet restaurant that makes you relax when you walk in.

I just started experimenting with Sushi a few years ago, was never brave enough to take the plunge before. Man, what was I thinking ?!?!? I LOVE LOVE LOVE japanese food now, and this place is fantastic. Fresh, delicious, I have had several different sushi items, still learning what I like. The Hana Bento is perfect. Many different items including sushi, tempura, teriaki, plus you get the soup & salad. oh my ! One very nice touch they have here is the hot towels they give you to clean hands before the meal. That is a treat. Fantastic staff, super fresh food. Only thing I do not love about this place is the decor. tables are very close together, and it feels a little "boxed in". But the food is so worth it. I will be going back many times I am sure. My husband even loves this place, and he used to be a meat & potatoes man ONLY. Go EAT, love it !

I ordered the salmon sashimi and the chirashi. The sashimi slabs were pretty thick and they just melted in my mouth. I was with a party of 5 so we had about 2 pieces each. The chirashi was really good as well, with about 7 different types of sashimi along with wakame, sliced daikon, and spicy tuna. All really fresh, and just a mouthful of yum. The chirashi came with miso soup and salad, which were both okay. The salad had a bit too much dressing so I would ask for it on the side. But it was still a great meal with my siblings. We've eaten at a lot of Japanese restaurants in the past and we all thought it was pretty good. I initially called in around 6:30pm but all the tables were full so I made a reservation for 7:15. I would suggest making reservations unless you are good for sitting at the bar, which is a fun experience as well. I would definitely go there when I'm craving some sushi. Mention if you are a first timer! They'll be happy you came :)

Sushi is a tricky little beast. Back in the day, it was easy to tell good sushi from bad. Now, most of it is so medicore the only thing you can really recognize is a good sushi place. Hana is one of the good ones. First, it should always be about the quality of the fish. To test this, I always get two things: A hand roll and a Cherashi bowl if they are offered. Here, both were and both were done well. First, the Hand Roll shows what kind of Sushi place you are dealing with-- most places will stuff them half with rice, half with fish-- Hana filled it with Spicy Tuna to where it was sprawling out. Delicious. Next-- Charashi. My god. Best Charashi I have had in some time. Delicious selections of fish, delicate and almost mouth watering-- this is particularly astonishing given that it is the middle of winter and fish in general isn't the best right now. The quality of fish here is substantial and we will be back again and again now.

Adorable setting with great service and nice prices. My udon soup was great. I'd order it again, for sure. The sashimi I sampled was tasty and fresh. Bothell isn't known for its culinary scene, but rest assured, Hana Sushi will satisfy you without breaking the bank.

It was super busy when we went but I figured I'd have to wait for a Saturday night dinner rush lol the sushi was big and delicious :) they were so prompt getting the next thing we ordered to our table we ordered like five times lol Also upon hearing we chose the place based on yelp reviews and first time going we got free green tea n mango I've cream :) I def suggest this place the sushi is fresh and service was amazing

  • Cora L.

All of the fish tasted fresh, and the service was amazing. The warm towel to clean your hands is a really nice touch, and the restaurant felt comfortable yet clean. Dishes to try: +Nabeyaki Udon: Delicious seafood broth that comes out piping hot; make sure to mix it up before you start eating (the flavor settles to the bottom while you let it cool). +Spicy Yellowtail Roll: The spiciness isn't so overpowering that you can't taste the fish, which is what I dislike about spicy yellowtail rolls elsewhere. +Crunchy Roll: Crunchy indeed, with a nice balance of flavors. Street parking is limited along the front of the restaurant, but parking is easy to find up the hill. I came for dinner on a weeknight and it was packed, but only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. We could have sat at the bar a few minutes sooner, but we saw that a table was opening up. Shucks, I wish I lived closer to this place!

Did take out sushi, and everything was really, really good. We ordered four rolls and toro, and the price was pretty decent. Everything was really fresh and tasty, and the portion sizes were on par with other places in the greater Seattle area. The time for takeout was really quick. I can see this place getting a lot of our money, and I want to come in to eat sometime soon, too. Especially because they also have udon!

I came here for lunch one day and really enjoyed it. I thought the prices were a little on the high side, but I was definitely satisfied with my meal. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and tasty and the service was very good. Nice old school Japanese sushi bar.

Update: i had been here few times now and fish are always fresh. This time I ordered sushi and sashimi plate and uni and they were delicious. Place got busy during lunch time and there were only two servers , but service was still better.

Some of the best sushi you will find. Friendly staff and worth a visit. Go check them out! You will not regret it. The Bothell Roll is my favorite but it is raw.

Delicious sushi! When you first walk in the wait staff provides a hot towel for your hands and hot tea quickly. Cute Asian decor and nice ambiance. Fresh ingredients and always great service! They use real crab in their rolls. Plus they make everything fresh right in front of you.

  • Brian N.

Old school japanese restaurant. Nigiri was excellent - I was surprised to like flounder so much. The spicy tuna roll could have been a bit fresher. Really happy I found a go to sushi spot that I can take the fam, in Bothell.

  • Cynthy C.

Hana Sushi offers fairly quick service and a clean dining environment. The wait staff is friendly. The food is not so wonderful but edible. The miso soup tasted like a salty bouillon and nothing more. The salad was literally drowning in dressing. Sushi was okay and the teriyaki chicken was a bit too salty. Ultimately you get what you pay for. Hana Sushi restaurant won't hurt your wallet but it won't leave your palate entirely satisfied either!

  • Jason K.

A solid sushi place. Reasonable prices, good quality, friendly and attentive service. Parking is available in a lot behind the restaurant. We ordered the spicy tuna, spicy yellow tail, california, Bothell, and Crunchy rolls. Most of the rolls have the Masago fish eggs (which is unusual for it to be predominant), so if you're not a fan you will to ask for it without. The meal came with complimentary miso soups. We'd likely come again when visiting the area.

Once again, I was on the hunt to try out another new restaurant. I came across Hana Sushi in my Yelp search and thought I would check them out. Overall it was a great experience. The service was wonderful, they greeted us at the door, talked about the menu and answered all of my questions. They were also very accommodating in making sure there was no egg in my entree. Throughout our dinner we got to talk to your waiter about finding them on yelp and trying them out for the first time. After we had dinner and we were waiting for our receipt, he brought us a dessert; mango mochi. I had had green tea and chocolate mochi before, but not mango, and it was quite delicious. My boyfriend and I can't wait to go back and hopefully make this restaurant one of our regular stops.

Very friendly family-run sushi spot. We love to sit at the sushi bar and take the chef's suggestions, which are always spot-on. Prices are good for the high quality that you get. We like having our own boxes for saki, and come here at least every other week , if not more often.

Best rotary sushi in Bothell! Affordable competitive prices, fresh tuna! I looooove their seared salmon and they have a really filling hot and spicy ramen! They get busy ok Friday and Saturday nights and the restaurant itself isn't very big. Still the best spot for casual lunch or dinner!

Good friend and I came here for light dinner. We live far away from each other so we were there for a while taking our time eating and chatting for probably 3 hours. We were the last ones in there as the place just closed. I decided to go to the washroom before we left but when I was walking back to my friend, I saw dessert was just getting served. An old lady was approaching me, seemed like the owner of the place, said something that I couldn't understand with her accent. I just politely smiled and walked back to my friend. My friend told me that the old lady was asking her where we were from and she mentioned we don't see each other often because we live a little more than an hour apart. Apparently that meant we each deserve cute mochi desserts on the house. I love places this! The little unexpected things are awesome! We'll definitely go back when we're in the area again.

I had high hopes when I saw other folks' ratings of this place, so it was a bummer to be disappointed. The sushi was only average, and the service was not great. I'd definitely pass this one by. Why? Read on. We were seated fairly promptly, but no one brought us menus, so we sat there awkwardly waiting for someone to appear with them. When we finally flagged someone down, to her credit, she did also take our drink order. Since we hadn't been here, we knew it would take a while to peruse the menu, and I asked her if we could order some of the veggie rolls ahead of time so we could nibble while we decided on the rest. A few minutes later we did decide, and put the rest of our order in (Prawn Tempura meal, TnT Roll, and Hana Roll). We got our Miso soup, my partner's salad, and tea fairly quickly, but still no sign of the veggie rolls. We waited...and waited...and waited. My partner's tempura plate came, but I was sitting there with nothing, feeling pretty hungry. Finally we flagged down the waitress (again), and asked where the veggie rolls were, at least. No one knew why the order vanished, but they did come a few minutes later. The rest of our order trickled over, so dinner took quite a while, and there were weird breaks just sitting there, hungry. It didn't seem that crowded, so I'm not sure what the excuse was (other than one of the chefs took a long break to sit with some friends that came in for a meal). Food: The tempura was good, and their dipping sauce was very nice. Pretty straight forward. The veggie rolls were nice, but a bit too big, and fell apart the second you picked them up. The Hana roll...not impressed. It was also more than a mouthful, but there wasn't anything spectacular about the flavour, it just seemed pretty plain. The TnT roll was fairly plain, despite being described as super spicy and intriguing. The salad dressing and the Miso soup were probably the best part of the meal, and for what it cost, that really shouldn't be! This was fairly expensive, so it was disappointing that it was only "OK". I've had better sushi at much less pricey establishments. We won't be returning.

I had been craving sushi for a while so I suggested this place to a friend going by the reviews. The place is a small cozy location along Main St. In downtown Bothell. I parked on Main St. and lucked out finding a spot just across the street from the sushi place. The time limit is 2 hours so I hoped the cops were lenient that night should I be a tad longer. (Turns out there's parking behind the building! Good to know.) The place was nicely decorated, and terribly busy. I was seated right away. The chefs stood behind the bar waiting for customers to sit at the bar. The two waiters were alert and professional. They didn't rush me to order knowing I was waiting for my friend. After she arrived they brought out hot washcloths for our hands. And I asked for hot tea. Perfect for a cold winter night. I wasn't terribly adventurous (hind sight I wish I had been) and ordered just an obento. Can't say I was very impressed. The size of the sushi rolls were tiny, and the taste were Ho-hum. There was the tempura which was also average. Nothing special. The miso soup they served before bringing the obentos (we ordered the same) was average too. It reminded me of the instant packets. (It should really be brought out with the meal because its not really an appetizer.) I ate all of the little mound of rice (I tend to eat that quickly where ever I eat) along with the pickles. I'm not writing this place off because I want to try the individual sushi and see if is a more of a memorable experience.

Extremely busy restaurant. Waited more than 20 minutes for seating and more than 30 minutes for the main dishes. Im pregnant so I didn't get a chance to try their raw sushi rolls. We ordered scallop panko as appetizer as I saw the reviews are good. I find the coating is way too hard and the scallop is undercooked, though fresh. For main dish, I ordered the tonkatsu; the pork is too lean so it's very hard and chewy; I usually like it with a bit of fatty part. Portion size is big and the rice is yummy! California roll is better than the ones I had before as its real crab meat! My dad ordered the bento box; average. My husband ordered more sushi rolls and seems like they're better than what I ordered. We're from Vancouver BC so I guess we have a high par for Sushi. Had Green tea Mochi ice cream for dessert. Love it! Nicely prepared and plated with fresh blueberry and whipped cream. A must try!

  • Anne J.

One of the better neighborhood sushi joints. Main bragging point- real crab meat in Ca rolls, not "krab-with-a-k". Service- Cold towels for hot towel service? Otherwise attentive and helpful- offered to keep separate tabs before ordering. Food- Really good. Not the best ever, but def than 90% of sushi restaurants around Seattle. One thing- thought the spider roll would feature a lighter tempura batter for the crab, not breading. Maybe would have made it a little lighter. Get the scallop panko! Atmosphere- Surprisingly loud eclectic music mix from Muzak to Top 40. Value- Again, better than most place. Not cheap, but very fair.

Hana is your average sushi restaurant with extra human touch. Sushi, good, sashimi, nigiri, good, fried food, not so good. Hamachi Kama (and Salmon Kama), very good! Price, hmmm, I wish it was a bit less. It is something my husband and I look forward to for date night. Love sitting by the sushi bar and chat with the chefs. It's not a place I will drive more than 5 miles to, but it's my #1 choice in the little Downtown Bothell.

  • Kate T.

Sushi doesn't get much better. I've lived in Bothell my entire life, and this little place is the hidden jem of main street. The sunomono is to die for, and I definitely recommend the Special Sushi Combo (I get it every time). Hana is definitely the most quaint sushi restaurant with the nicest staff, and they never fail to impress.

Best udon and sushi for sure! My parents and I went last week for some sushi and udon and we were absolutely amazed at the quality of the food. My father's expression after having nabeyaki udon, "it took away all the fatigue and tiredness and invigorated his body" (hope I properly translated :)) Very fresh and delicious sushi and sashimi too. I had chirashi last week and today deluxe sushi combo and definitely loved it. Heard they have many returners including some really famous people I won't mention for privacy. Will definitely visit again if I come to Bothell. Thank you Hana Sushi!

I'm not gonna bother sounding impartial with my review. This is my favorite sushi place in the area, bar none. It's so good: - I go at least once often twice per week for lunch. - Anytime I take anyone to eat there, it becomes their favorite. - Haubin, the owner has had this place about two decades, before sushi is this popular. - Everytime I walk away from the table, I feel like I ate something nourishing, coz I did! - My buddy and I always wager paying for dinner here anytime we make a bet. - Deluxe sushi combo is the way to go. Such great value! It's very good. Period.

By far the best Sushi around! The service is always spectacular, even when someone new is on shift. The sake is warmed to perfection. The food is fresh, delicious, and comes in a timely manner.

  • Pablo J.

Staff is always friendly and the food is always good. It is a little pricier than most sushi places, but there certainly is a difference. It's the little things like scraping the connective tissue out of the tuna and using rice that's cooked just right. You also won't see some highschooler behind the counter claiming to be a sushi master. Hana Sushi is my favorite sushi restaurant because it's always quality. If the only difference you notice is the price, you'd be better off eating from the conveyor belt down the street.

  • Rose B.

Overpriced and the fish wasn't fresh. Their nigiri was not very fresh and their spicy tuna roll was okay at best. Service was okay. They took forever for them to stop by and take our order. The food did come up rather fast.

A nice little Japanese restaurant. Delicious sushi and miso soup. Friendly waitstaff. They bring you nice little hot washcloths to clean your hands before the meal.

Service is great so friendly! Miso is perfect and loved the spicy tuna! Hated the salmon skin but it's just because it tasted like BBQ chips to me but way to strong! All the fish is perfectly fresh! Great prices!

Unpretentious high quality sushi Though the technical craftsmanship of our rolls were not shall I say structurally withstanding to chopstick handling, the flavor and taste was quite delicious. Very friendly service with a small town cross section of patrons, made Hana sushi stand out amongst the more pretentious Seattle sushi joints I've dined in. No wait or reservations was needed for prime time on Saturday night.

So far the best high end sushi that I know of in the area. I love sushi and this place is not as great as my favorite place in San Diego or as Shiro's downtown, but it is very comparable, and definitely not worth crossing the bridge. Don't mix this up with Sushi Hana, which I also like but which is a whole different thing ha ha. I did this once before. Will definitely try again.

  • Sonia C.

Super duper average Japanese. We only come here because we're lazy and it's literally 3 minutes away from work. I would never bring people here for a meal or suggest it as a place to go. We usually stick to the cooked foods here. Their steaming hot nabeyaki udon does hit the spot on cold, rainy nights.

I love this little out-of-the-way place on Main Street in Bothell. The sushi is always good and fresh, the staff always friendly and attentive, and the chefs gracious. I eat quite a lot of sushi, and the key is to always have fresh seafood to offer, and Hana delivers. As with many of the hidden pearls among sushi restaurants, it is a bit small and dark, without any frills; but if you can look past that, you'll enjoy good, fresh food.

Four of my girlfriends and I come here after class at UW Bothell. We're teachers, and this is a good place for all of us to congregate before we head our various directions home. It's not cheap, but on average, I think I spend about $12-$20 on dinner - doable once in awhile on my salary at this point in my life. The food is so good after a long day in the classroom, and the staff is always so friendly. They bring you warm towels to clean your hands first, always break our check so we can pay individually, and we never feel rushed to move along when we're through eating but still talking. :) Please know, I'm not a sushi expert but so far I've enjoyed: Nabeyaki Udon Soup Cucumber roll Hana roll Spider roll Crunchy roll Poke roll

  • Gary A.

Don't bother. Stopped here while in Bothell for business. Below average sushi and pretty high prices. The Spider Roll, wasn't really a Spider Roll, had an over fried hunk of something neither tasted nor looked nothing like softshell crab, more like a chicken nugget. Had an order of Hamachi and Hotate Nigiri, they were not chilled at all and tasted old, they put way to much wasabi on them I think trying to mask the old fish flavor. All in all just a very poor sushi place. Bummer.

Loved this place. We ordered the california roll, miso and chicken teriyaki. ALL, were really made well with fresh ingredients. I have tried to go back a couple of times with my husband, and they are usually closed when we are there. One of the best california rolls I have had. Looking forward to sharing this place with my husband.

Agadashi tofu, steamed gyoza, spider roll, spicy tuna, hamachi, and salmon. All fresh, like butter. We had one sushi newbie with us, she had the Cali roll, real crab. Nice. She loved it. We def be back.

Came here with a bunch of clients. We had about 10 people and they were able to take our orders and serve us quickly. I ordered the nabeyaki udon (shrimp tempura, egg, mushrooms, fishcakes, chicken with udon noodle soup). Restaurants usually only give you 1 piece of shrimp tempura but this place gave me 2 pieces so that was a big bonus. The broth was flavorful and the udon noodles were the soft and tender kind which I really enjoy. Most places serve the Sanuki noodles (thick and hard) so was happy to find that they used Kansai noodles :) We also ordered some sashimi and sushi for the group. i had a few bites and they seemed to taste good. I am not usually a big fan of sashimi but the white tuna was very good. For those that eat lunch later in the day, note that they close at 2 for lunch.

I've been here a couple times with the family. It's pretty good for conveyer belt sushi and priced very reasonable. It's very similar to Sushi Land but better quality and service.

This is one of the very best sushi places around. These guys KNOW what they are doing. Amazing food, amazing service... Doesn't get much better than this with sushi places...

Great sushi. Decent prices. A lot of diners looked Japanese (which I think is a good sign and shows that even the local Japanese find Hana Sushi a good place to bring their friends and family), and it seems to have a good selection of fresh fish. The "specials" can get pricey (a 2-piece of Unagi was $8, whereas in comparison a whole Caterpillar Roll was only $9) so check prices since some items can be expensive.

Good sushi, a little expensive. I wasn't a fan of the calamari appetizer. The rolls are good but nothing special. The wait staff is really nice and very attentive so that's a plus. Overall its just ok.

I went here primarily because Kelsey F. started talking about the sushi rice. I am glad to say that she is 100% correct. This is fabulous rice, often times people just use regular rice for their sushi. I love it. The other thing I love is their tempura. Too many times I have been bitten by this greasy, doughy mess hiding the wonderful vegetables. I tend to prefer recipes that use panko, while Hana does not use panko they do vary the texture of the batter so that it is very light and airy. I did have the Chirashi, something I have been wanting to try since moving to Bothell a few weeks ago. It was a good mix of different fish and some octopus. The salmon was especially delicious. Not to mention the real crab in the California roll...none of that imitation stuff here. Hana Sushi is a definite repeat for us.

This is my neighborhood sushi house. So I gotta give this place love! I hate rating sushi places b/c when you're in a city where such quality seafood is so readily available, they all tend to be good. But sushi quality is about the rice and it's consistently vinegar'ed (is that a word? Because I will use it in a few more sushi Yelps) and textured well. The miso soup, tempura, teriyaki, all of the menu is good...very good. If you're in Bothell and want some quality sushi w/great service and sushi chefs....this is your place. Oh yeah, and if you're a regular sake drinker you can have your own personal sake box (I think they are called 'Masu') awaiting your next drink, nice touch for the regulars!

Great for a date! Great food! Great Service!! A tad cozy when they are full- parking is not always easy in downtown Bothell. Take a romantic walk near the park when you are done- terribly romantic!!

I am not a sushi fanatic, but I do partake from time to time. Hana Sushi had the basic fare, but nothing that was overly impressive. Everything was fresh and the food came out pretty quickly once ordered.

This is still my favorite sushi restaurant in the are. Quality food, prepared by people who love making good sushi and other Japanese dishes (and have been doing it for ages). You're going to pay more than you would for the average conveyor belt sushi joint, but if quality is what you want, this is the place.

Hana Sushi is a small family owned sushi restaurant in Downtown Bothell, a place for true connoisseurs of sushi. I can say for SURE that their fish is always served fresh and the quality is perfect or near perfect. Their menu is simple, abstains from drenching their rolls with 10 different sauces, and cuts to the chase. Their roll selection is very minimal so that you can still appreciate the taste of fresh fish. Rather than expanding their menu with Americanized rolls and sushi creations, Hana Sushi preserves a more traditional aspect of Japanese cuisine. Their chicken teriyaki is very good as well. Instead of grilling the chicken like many other places, they poach it in the sauce so the meat is juicy and full of flavor. This guarantees that your chicken is never too dry or burnt. To add on to the traditional atmosphere, as soon as you step into Hana, you are greeted by all of the workers in Japanese and after you are seated, the server welcomes you with an osibori (Steaming wet towel to wipe your hands) which I appreciate on cold nights. Their dinner servers there (Monica, Nicole, Casey) are great! The sushi chefs, Hobin (owner) and Sato, are friendly and fun to talk to when sitting at the bar... they are always cracking jokes here and there :] Karen, Hobin's wife, is at the restaurant from time to time and goes that extra mile to talk to you and see how you've been doing... see what's new with you. I would go only occasionally because I do agree that their prices are a little high but whenever I do go... it's definitely worth it. OH... and their house salad is amazing... the best ginger dressing I ever had.

Want to know what I love most about Hana Sushi? (Besides the fact that it's within walking distance of where I live...) The rice. You are hard pressed to find good sushi rice in Seattle, which is a crime because there are so many good sushi places. It's just that the rice is usually...meh. Kinda sweet. Kinda seasoned. Sometimes crunchy. Sometimes too sticky. Meh. Hana got it right, or as close to right as I've found in my extensive sushi experiences - the rice is lightly acidic and just a touch sweet. Perfect. That aside, the atmosphere is hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop shop (a customer left after telling the sushi chefs "see ya next week", so there's a fair share of regulars - this is also noted by the number of personalized sake cups you'll find behind the sushi bar), the miso soup will burn your tongue, the service is friendly, they are kid/family friendly, and the fish is amazing. They opt to add a bit of grated fresh ginger to the top of their albacore, which is good but not the best thing ever - Kanpai is still winning for the use of smoked salt. As Danny K mentioned, you're not going to get overly-sauced rolls. The rolls are simple and to-the-point and that's what matters. Good times. Also, ate there with one person and got three rolls (one of which was a cucumber roll) and two types of nigiri as well as two non-alcoholic beverages and came out at about thirty bucks. I'm sure it's easy to go way over that, but I want it to be known that if you're after a quick, tasty, fresh bite, you don't necessarily need to expect to pay a ton as several have mentioned.

We're very lucky to have this place in Bothell! It's one of the hidden treasures in a little town that (let's be honest) is hurting for a few more good restaurants! The waitress was incredibly friendly. She left us alone to eat our food in peace, but was incredibly attentive when she needed to be. Although I would be interested to see if the same applies for a busy night. The sushi was excellent! I would definitely recommend this place to someone who likes good sushi, as well as to someone new to the world of sushi! You won't be disappointed!

  • Maggie S.

I give Hana four stars based on non-sushi items alone (I don't do sushi). I really like their tempura, in particular, because it's not too oily or heavy. Also, I thought their miso was perfect, I could have had three servings! I got a bento box, and I thought the Teriyaki was yummy, but not the very best I'd had. Still though, with the way I crave Japanese food, (which is voracious mind you), this place completely satiated my growling belly and we will continue to visit. Totemo Oishii! Gochisosama!

  • Rob B.

There are a variety of misleading things you will notice about this listing. For starters? Not 2 $$; it absolutely 30+ bucks a head. Secondly, the place itself is quite tasty. Everything is fresh. They cut huge chunks of fish. Good quality, reasonable service, good rice. I genuinely liked it. The tea needed work, but hey, you can't win em all, right? Then the bill comes and its 70 something for dinner for two. You gotta be kidding me. We can spend half that at the little sushi joint by Albertson's for just as good of sushi. No idea how they get away with these prices. If you'll excuse me, I have to go squeeze blood from a stone now.

Solid neighborhood sushi place... Will definitely be back to try the other menus. Nigiri sampler, fresh fish... the spicy tuna rolls a little smaller than I've seen and there is more vinegar in the sushi rice.

  • Jackie K.

Hana is great if you don't want a bunch of foofy rolls with cream cheese or strawberries or something totally non-sushi such as that. On the other hand, they don't usually have what might be called "exotic" or "unusual" items, such as goeduck or abalone. They pretty much cater to the crowd that's right down the center of the road. Their tempura is awesome, especially in the fall when they do a little yam and pumpkin in the mix. Tempura pumpkin is like dessert it's so good! Sushi chefs Sato-san and Hobin-san are really great to sit at the bar and chat with, especially if you share a little of your beer with them. You get to learn things like Hobin loves to gamble in Vegas and Sato loves bourbon. It's usually not so slammed that you actually get the interactive experience of chatting with the sushi chef, something I really miss in the overcrowded city restaurants where sometimes you don't even get to order directly from the chef...which to me is the whole point of sitting at the bar in the first place. You're always greeted with a warm towel, a cup of tea and a smile. Sushi shouldn't be "cheap". You should get a good ratio of fish to rice for your money, and here that's definitely the case. I gave it 3 $$$ because it's true. If you have a large Kirin at $8, a Dragon Roll at $14.50 (which is huge), and a couple pieces of Hamachi for $5.50, you're over the $30 range once you add tax and tip. I don't know many places I can get that much quality food and basically 2 beers for under 30 bucks. I compared exactly those items on a few other sushi restaurant's menus and crossed over the $30 mark as well, so I think the prices at Hana are comparable.

Ive been into Hana many times over the last couple of months. One time I had a huge group dinner and they were very accommodating to the 16 people that showed up. They sat up stares and were very good at getting everyone's food out in a timely manner with a smile. Im sure that wasn't the most fun thing for the wait staff. Ive always had fantastic service here and the sushi is pretty tasty. It pretty average sushi fare, though sometimes I think the prices at Aoki down the street are more reasonable, I like the rolls here better.

  • Adrienne H.

Hana is one of my favorite spots to meet my girlfriends for lunch! I always manage to burn all of my tastebuds off eating the Miso soup, apparently patience is a virtue. Each time we go we order the Main Street Roll, the Bothell Roll, some Spicy Tuna and a roll named for one of their employees, just can't remember the name! Each time the sushi has been very fresh and delicious. I'd consider Hana to be the areas #2 spot (Momoya is #1), definitely the best in Bothell I would say. The prices are a tad high, but the food has always been worth it.

Had lunch with a friend and ordered a Bento box. Everything was very good fresh and the cozy atmosphere was nice but could imagine being distracting on a busy night.

Something bothers me about this place... I think it's the fact that there's fish tank build into the sushi bar. It just seems strange. That said, the sushi here is excellent, and I love their tempura, but I really feel that it's way overpriced. The people are friendly, and the service is good. The decor isn't too bad as well, but the price is a real deal breaker for me. Maybe if they had specials, or more combination offers?

  • Letha F.

Hana is hit or miss. I think you have to catch it on the right day. I've had a few delicious traditional sushi meals here and thought I'd struck heaven in the Bothell-Kenmore area. But alas, on my most recent visit I was served maguro that was a little past its prime. That is positively tragic. It was a Monday and a different chef and I keep telling myself to try the place again... but once you've bitten into yesterday's sushi it's hard to give a second chance. Sigh.

In a city full of excellent sushi restaurants this is one of my favorites. The service is excellent, there is never a wait and their sushi is top quality. Basic sushi menu - nothing wild and crazy - just what I like.

I've been to Hana on numerous occasions over the past 6 years. After not having been there in a while, I dropped in tonight - and once again -was not disapponted. Their quality has always been top notch, and if you are not looking for good sushi, then don't be prepared to pay for it. I wouldn't say they are super spendy, considering you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to sushi. Hana is consistent, and you can count on the same good quality every time. I've been in places where the fish has been half frozen, and the price is the same. Not good. The sushi is fresh and served at just the right temperature, and the pieces of fish are generous. The sushi chefs are a kick to talk to, and they're fun. It's a relatively small place, would be good for small groups, but if you're into kicking it up with a bunch of friends drinking sake, it might not be the best place to do that. I would recommend Hana to anyone who wants a new sushi place to go to. Not cheap, not spendy - but if you like the more relatively 'exotic' sushi, and you can put a lot of it away, you can expect to pay about $30-$45 for one person. It's worth it to me.

It's hard to get a "food coma" from sushi, but with enough saki it can be done. My sister is an avid sushi eater, I'm an ametuer, and my mother is somewhere in between. Hana Sushi catered to each of our varying preferences with speed and a smile, and it was worth the cost (which was considerable, since we ordered everything a la cart - they do have combos, though). The only negative thing about Hana Sushi is that it's small, and I had hoped for more privacy as my family celebrated my mom's birthday. I realized quickly, though, that even though we were close to other free-standing tables it still *felt* private. The just-at-the-right-moments service made up for any possible lack, anyway. I'll definitely travel back to Bothell to meat my eastside friends for sushi, tempura, and dessert. (Mango ice cream, yum!) Oh, and the saki, of course.

This place is ok... Sushi was your average grade fish and rice quality. Sushi chef when I went was a Korean dude which isn't uncommon but just wish they had some standout food. It's a safe bet if that means anything.

After so many years of coming here (eight and counting) Hana has yet to screw it up. Quality sushi, Very friendly chef, kitchen food is very good, Sashimi was awesome. Even had a chance to conduct business meeting here as it was quiet and pleasant.

The fish quality is was decent but nothing amazing. There was really nothing special about this place except for the prices, which were way too high. My dad said the ownership might have changed because all the older sushi chef's that he had so much fun with were gone. Basically it looks like any mom and pop teriyaki joint but the prices are right there with what you would pay at a nice downtown sushi place. I got the deluxe sushi plate $20, 8 pieces of nigiri and some blah california rolls. $14 for teriyaki that is the same as you would get on the Ave for $7. The waitress was rather disinterested. Miso was pretty good tho.

I have been to at least 10 different sushi places in the Seattle area... and all have claimed to be "the best in seattle"... And time and time again, I always end up back at Hana in Bothell. I love their dragon roll and their hana roll. It is a very friendly place and quick service. I have NEVER had a bad experience there and actually left another sushi place after waiting for 20 minutes to get our drink order and went to Hana. Sushi is varies greatly and Hana exceeds all of my requirements: Good Service, FRESH fish, Creative rolls (which I know is not traditional for you die hard traditionalists), and friendly atmosphere.

I'm not much of a Sushi person, but I just had to write a review of this place because of the superb service. I brought my client here with the primary intention to ease potential tension and thanks to the superb service, and nice meal, things went upwards afterwards. They have a website at hanasushibothell.com

You never forget your first time. Being from the east coast, I never even tried sushi til I moved out here, and the first time I had it was at Hana. After clumsily eating spicy tuna rolls and my favorite, spider rolls, I officially considered myself a member of the sushi club. I took my dad here after he returned from a trip to Japan and he loved every bite. Good service, nice pacing, yummy sushi. Domo arigato!

You will not find an extensive menu of exotic foods, what you will find is a tight menu of extremely high quality dishes at a reasonable price. The service can be a bit brusque if you're trying to sit large parties, but they are fast, pleasant and nearly invisible. If you're a regular you should end up with a cedar box for your sake in no time.

Yummy-yummy with super fast friendly service. My brother is a total regular here (which might explain why the waitress was so chatty she actually sat down with us for a few minutes) and I would be too if I didn't live 800 miles away! The little place was packed on a Wednesday night yet we still got tea and miso soup within moments of sitting down, order taken a couple minutes later, and served about ten minutes after that. Still we didn't feel rushed - even when we chatted over free tea refills for about an hour after they cleared our food. The sushi was top notch (especially the avocado asparagus tempura roll, omg!) but the edamame was a little limp.

Excellent food and the service is great! We eat sushi everywhere and Hana is one of the best. It's a casual place, but the food is always fresh and the portions are great. We haven't found a better place within 20 miles. I highly recommend.

I know, the ambiance isn't much to speak of, but if you want a reliable, bargain-priced helping of sushi, get it here. The sushi menu isn't extensive, or filled with exotic creations, just your basic fish-and-rice with some veggies, but it's all well prepared and fresh. It can be a long wait if you come during peak dining, so be prepared.

Hana's is a jewel in an area where the best sushi often comes pre-made at the QFC. You can drive further into Seattle, but you won't find a better deal.

I work in Bothell and this a popular lunch spot for myself and many of my co-workers. The sushi is tasty and the prices are reasonable. The quality is quite good and the chefs always have good recommendations about which fish is particularly good that day. All lunches come with salad and miso soup so it's a full meal. I like to sit at the bar and chat with the chefs who are always friendly. It's a very imformal and casual atmosphere. Located in old downtown Bothell where parking can be a bit challenging at lunch and dinner time.

We were at the Vintage Bothell Wine Walk tonight and stopped in for a couple of rolls and chirashi, our tummy's were grumbling, excellent service and amazing sushi. Will definitely return. Husband said it was the best chirashi he's ever had. Thank you! (Bow)

This is by far one of the best and most memorable Sushi places in Washington that I've been to. We've been back repeatedly and have consistently received great service and great food.

Old school japanese restaurant. Nigiri was excellent - I was surprised to like flounder so much. The spicy tuna roll could have been a bit fresher. Really happy I found a go to sushi spot that I can take the fam, in Bothell.

A must try!

Overpriced and the fish wasn't fresh. Their nigiri was not very fresh and their spicy tuna roll was okay at best. Service was okay. They took forever for them to stop by and take our order. The food did come up rather fast.

Bummer.

Agadashi tofu, steamed gyoza, spider roll, spicy tuna, hamachi, and salmon. All fresh, like butter. We had one sushi newbie with us, she had the Cali roll, real crab. Nice. She loved it. We def be back.

Solid neighborhood sushi place... Will definitely be back to try the other menus. Nigiri sampler, fresh fish... the spicy tuna rolls a little smaller than I've seen and there is more vinegar in the sushi rice.

Sigh.

I love Hana Sushi! Love love it! It's always so yummy and so good! The fish never smells fishy, the rice has just the right amount of stick and moisture. It's just great!
