On a hunt for a new place to try, my boyfriend and I stopped at Ninety Nine, a casual chain restaurant. There's a bar at one end, and high booths at the other. The menu is pretty vast, and reasonably priced. I started with the tomato basil soup ($3.80), served with oyster crackers - the tomato flavour was rich, but it wasn't very basil-y, and was just warm. I also had the tropical chicken salad ($10), a grilled marinated chicken breast on a bed of greens. It was topped with pecans, which added a nice crunch, a few mandarin pieces, cabbage and julienned carrots. The ginger dressing was good. My boyfriend had the sirloin with blue cheese and sauteed mushrooms, which nicely complemented the steak ($10!). Service was friendly and fast.

I forgot to add this. The bartender, Dave, for some reason, decided we didn't get any popcorn, while others all around were filled and re-filled. It must be me!

We had not been here for a while, and we were not sure why: But after our experience we will not be going back. My wife ordered nachos, and they were cold, felt glued to the plate, with a drizzle of cheap salsa. They were litterly in a solid mass, difficult to separate and tasted bad. I had a Vermont Cheddar burger, it also was cold and the meat smelled bad. Our server, Kevin, has been there 4 years: Nice guy, personable, but a little too corporate I suppose. We would of felt better had we NOT been half listened to and walked away from.

Not too impressed with this place. Overall, it did not look that clean, and our table was wiped down with old sanitizer water, which had that rancid smell. When we ordered, they were out of a few of the items on the menu that my party requested. I ordered a 18-ounce prime rib with a baked potato and the seafood chowder. The chowder tasted like uncooked heavy cream with potatoes and seafood. As for my prime rib, the cut was extremely fatty, with only about half of the cut being edible. The restaurant was also somewhat hot. The service was nice, however. Would not recommend this place.

Visiting VT and stopped here for a nice dinner with my Aunt and Uncle. The server was pretty nice. She was great about getting what we wanted and brought us popcorn. I had a top sirloin with fries and corn. The steak was great, it was cooked perfectly. The fries were fries, not anything special. I thought the corn was okay, it had a really weird almost fruity taste to it. I feel it's a great family place, especially for picky eaters since they have such a big menu.

Been a few times after work. Love the nice, big draft beers but the food is hit or miss. Ordered boneless hot wings during the last visit and they were lukewarm. Not in the microwave long enough I guess!

Well, certainly better than Ponderosa but not as good as Texas Roadhouse. We went for lunch. My boys got there first and my wife was coming from her office to meet us. The service was so slow that my wife was unable to finish eating before she had to return to work. We have been here before for dinner and I don't recall the service having been so slow. However - on every visit the food has only been ok.

Ok as a chain restaurant. Wait staff were pleasant. The dinner I had ... a steak ... was so different than what was shown on the menu ... it's almost funny. Menu showed a small but thick steak (probably ~1 inch thick). What arrived was broader ... but much thinner ... definitely lower quality meat (... though... I wasn't expecting much). Going into this restaurant, if your expectations are set correctly (meh food, but edible) ... then I'd say this was ok. Just don't expect anything special.

The 99 is an ok family place to have lunch or dinner at. They have decently sized portions of food, and the staff is usually quite friendly. They do tend to get rather busy on the weekends, but if you call ahead you can put your name down for call-ahead-seating to help cut down on the wait. If you want a place to sit down, watch TV, and eat then this is would do it for you. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes it seems that the food has a lot of salt. For a chain restaurant this one is pretty good.

Kids eat FREE on Sundays for the month of October. 99 has a great selection, so you don't have to be in the mood for one specific thing, chances are pretty good that 99 has something for you, everything from snacks up to steaks, chicken and seafood. It's a casual chain restaurant, but the food and service are good.
