Not even worth 1 star. First time I have sent food back in over a decade. Who puts (old, seemingly rotten) broccoli, carrots, and onion on an "artisan" flatbread? These vegetables were not only a terrible choice in terms of flavor, they tasted extremely unfresh. On top of them was a sprinkling of barely melted cheese, not even enough to mask the unsightly vegetables. Although I didn't want anything else off the menu, I felt guilty about sending my meal back, so I ordered a Caesar salad. By the time my family had finished eating, my salad finally appeared. It was edible, but the croutons were so garlicky (and clearly not homemade), that I could not eat them. My husband's fish dish was barely passable, and came with vegetables that looked worse than prison fare. This restaurant is to be avoided, despite the fun offerings in the VT Country Store next door. I am completely mystified by the positive ratings Bryant House has received from other reviewers. It is often the case that service is bad but food is good, at the BH, the opposite was true. Our server was fine, but the food was dreadful.

Delicious food! Homey atmosphere. Get there early it fills up fast! The Grill cheese sandwich and the Mac n Cheese were a real hit!

Very good NE clam chowder but the cheeseburger was awesome! Loved this place. everything is fresh and made in house. Can't wait to return and try the Dogwood wrap and some dessert.

Based on one visit for lunch with a party of four. Menu is varied with comfort foods of all sorts. Well prepared, tasty and nicely plated. Service is fast and good. Reasonably priced. We enjoyed it and our visit to the Vermont Country Store right next door.

First impressions are so important, and if it hadn't been for the hostess, I would have given a 5-star rating. The food was wonderful, the service was very good, but the hostess was extremely unfriendly, gruff, no smile... no greeting. While we waited a couple of minutes to be seated, another group had arrived, (the waiting area was very small and crowded), and the hostess practically pushed an elderly lady with a cane out of the way, saying, "I'm going there"... NOT, excuse me, or pardon me... I was afraid she was going to knock the lady over. After the meal, my husband had just signed the credit card slip and the hostess (not the waitress) came over and literally whisked it out of his hand before he could set it down...guess she was in a hurry to seat more people and wanted to get us out of there. As we were leaving, some other folks inquired about the wait time, and another server said she thought it would be about 5 minutes or so. The hostess then said it would be quite a bit more than that, "Well, I don't know who told you that, but I'm the one who'd have that information." Would I go back if in the area? Maybe, for the food, but if I was the owner/manager of the place, I'd think twice about who was greeting my customers at the door!

Food was unimpressive; service awful! And $7 for a HALF GLASS of wine. My, my!!! I may go back, but someone else will be paying the bill.

Heard many good things about this restaurant while we were visiting the museums in town. The service was decent. The clam chowder was very bland. Despite having celery in it, you couldn't taste it. The macaroni and cheese was interesting with 3 kinds of pasta and lots of cheese, but the ritz cracker topping was the tastiest. It was an expensive lunch, $46 w/tip for 2 cups of soup, sandwich and m&c

Loved the historic home that is this restaurant- The breakfast should have been great-blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, some toast and jelly- well it all arrived COLD We were there on a Saturday at 10am.. and it was not busy. My friend had a corned beef hash in a personal size skillet that was hot.. so not sure what happened with my COLD eggs.. I really really liked the atmosphere- the waitress did not seem to appreciate our enthusiasm - she kept wanting to take the menu I was reading which told the story of the home. I would eat here again- just disappointed in my cold eggs- everything was tasty considering it was cold- pancakes were full of real blueberries- coffee was served hot and the jam seemed homemade with pieces of fruit. And if you eat at the Bryant House you must go to the Country Store next door!

We were a family group of 5 who arrived in Weston for a Matinee performance of Death of a Salesman at the playhouse. We walked to the Bryant House from the Weston town square. We arrived on time for our 5pm dinner reservation, and were seated immediately. Each of us had a different one of the specials - mine was salmon and it was perfectly cooked. Food is home made, atmosphere is family style and cozy. Staff was friendly. I especially enjoyed a slower pace from my City life in San Francisco. Prior reservations recommended, especially on weekends. Food was wonderful. Don't miss dinner at this quaint famly owned restaurant.

The brunch here was phenomenal! The crust on the quiche was homemade and really perfect (and I am a crust-snob for sure). Pancakes were excellent and real maple syrup was the only option (also a syrup snob - why flavored corn syrup is even made perplexes me) and the price was unbeatable.

Wandered over from the Country the store not knowing what to expect. Ordered grilled cheese sandwich, coleslaw, onion rings and their special micro brew. At first bite I almost cried, Seriously folks. VERMONT CHEDDAR KILLS. Toasted perfectly and it included bacon and ripe tomatoes. Onion rings were just great- not overlay battered and not greasy. The coleslaw was just perfect. Tastes like it was made with lemon juice instead of vinegar. Sweet, but with a delicate bite. The beer was an able compliment. Being from Napa, CA I will probably never be back, but at least I have the memories of one perfect lunch!

It was just OK. Nothing special. Spent a lot less elsewhere and got a thousand times better meal. Meal was cold. Waitress kept disappearing so we couldn't even let her know so she could correct the problem. Best part? Butternut squash bisque - OUTSTANDING.

Decided to stay local and eat at the Bryan House restaurant and it was a GREAT choice. Loved the use of local meat and produce. The beet salad with mint was wonderful and my grass fed beef burger from up the local farm with Vermont cheddar cheese was one of the best I've had. Also enjoyed the special Bryant House Ale made by Otter Creek, what a great pairing to the meal. The selections by my dinner companions were equally well liked. I will definitely return to the Bryant House on my next trip back to Weston.

When visiting Manchester Vermont, it's easy to get sucked into the local restaurants and miss the Green Mountain Gem - The Bryant House in Weston. It may look far from Manchester, however, the time it takes to make the short drive is less than waiting in line at any of the Manchester hot spots - and the service, food and ambiance far exceeds Manchester's best. Lunchtime? Johnny Cakes and Chicken Salad. You'll never forget that tasty treat. Dinner? Bypass the normal entrees and choose ANY of the nightly specials. Their Canadian chef goes above in beyond in melding natural flavors of veggies, meats and seafood with herbs and spices that are to die for. You'll take no chances - there is no risk. It's all good! The big surprise for the night? House Salad Dressing! - MAPLE DIJON!!! Hints of Vermont Maple fused with Asian spices! I'm addicted! Even the potato chips are awesome! On top of all that, our server, Sandy was wonderful. What a fabulous place to visit. I wish we lived in Vermont because we would be there every Friday night! By the way, if Shrimp/Chicken Scampi is on the Specials Menu - ORDER IT! I've traveled the world and this is in my TOP 20 dishes!

cooks in the kitchen, not chefs blah. not bad but blah. fish was blah, salad blah, service blah, decor blah. we grabbed dinner with friends before a play at the weston playhouse and were excited that this was a great alternative to some of the usual places we hit when in vermont. we were all disappointed. chefs know how to create. chefs get the balance of flavors, savory versus sweet, fat content, etc. cooks think that because they know how to cook a piece of fish to done they are creative. not quite my friends. every dish on the table was blah. then there was the service. this comment said it all. i asked the server what were some of her favorite things on the menu. she said "i have never eaten the food here". really? we asked how long she had worked there and she said for one year. what does that tell you. so if you are in weston and looking for a great meal pass by the bryant house. next trip we will try one of the other spots in weston and we will let you know what we think. I came here with my family during Memorial Day weekend since we were staying in Weston. I thought this place had a very old-fashion feel and I imagine during the winters it's very cozy. When you walk into the restaurant, one of the dining areas has an old fashion soda apparatus(that I believe is no longer in use). The staff was friendly especially since we were 7 adults and 2 kids. They were constantly asking us if there were crackers or things they could get for the children. Most people ordered the pot pie but I decided to order the baked stuffed shrimp with crab meat. I thought it was really good but more in a comfort food way than impressive gourmet fare. I didn't go in with high expectations, but I did think the food was good. I know people ranted about the pot roast and the massive portion. I think the best part was the ice cream that they get from the Vermont Ice Cream store across the street. Maple walnut is the best flavor.

We were visiting Vermont from the San Francisco Bay Area and stumbled upon this gem! Great service from Danielle. A very appealing menu with ingredients that support local farmers. Extremely well priced. Couldn't have asked for more.

I have a running thing with corn bread. I always say, for example, that there are two kinds of people: people who serve cornbread with chili, and people who don't and probably make bad chili. I mention this because the first time I ate here I spotted something on the menu called Johnny Cake, which is cornbread, but it's a New England version made with molasses. I've never seen it before or since on any menu. I've tried to make it myself from recipes on the Internet but it's never as good. So now, even if I'm just passing through on my way to day hike the Appalachian Trail, I still go in and order the Johnny Cake to go. If anyone can help in terms of finding a good recipe, let me know. As for the rest of the food, it's the type of place where you'll probably have to make your choices carefully because you'll see several things of the menu that look pretty good. You can only choose one and who knows when you'll be back again.

Very pleasant - with slow service. Try the Von Trapp beer on tap. We had to ask for bar munchies- but they were VERY good. The menu has appetizing selections. They have lovely antiques throughout - with a Definite Colonial feel. It's very good for touristas, and so convenient when the destination is The Vermont Country Store.

I had lunch there on Aug. 20, 2015. I order a grilled cheese sandwich and fries and the food was great, as well as a bowl of New England Clam Chowder that was quite good. The grilled cheese sandwich was made with Texas toast type bread and three types of Vermont sharp cheddar, it was very good tasting. All the food they served was of very high quality.

The food here was fantastic. Go for the "Sugarshack" sandwich with ham, bacon, and Apple butter on a waffle as the bun, and maple syrup for dipping.

Really find Vermont cooking with an elegant bend. Best shepherds pie I ever had. Their menu includes the traditional along with unusual Vermont style cooking. their chef was amazing. Good luck on the Chopped show.

We had read the reviews and were concerned about eating at this restaurant. Ignore the reviews. Bryant House has amazing food with good service. We had lunch there and the chili with johnny cake / corn bread was to die for! The burgers were tender and delicious. Highly recommended.

Went to the Vermont country store first and then jetted straight to the Bryant house to eat. The restaurant still has the original bar which is gorgeous! The food was excellent with hardy portions. We had the beef chili with sour cream. Delish. Hit the spot!! My husband had the ribs. He ate that so quick! My son had the cheeseburger and my daughter the chicken tenders. The service was quick and but informative.

I've been here many times and I have never had a bad meal here. Great sandwiches w local Vermont flair (maple, apple, cheddar)!

What an amazing experience! My wife and I walked I last night without a reservation. They accommodated us at the bar and eventually and table opened up and offered to move us. My wife had the stuffed haddock fish special. The fish was perfect and stuffing flavourful but not over bearing. I had the pot roast... WOW. The veg was wonderful and definitely not "prison fare." With drinks and tip bill was 75 or so. Staff was amazing. To few give good reviews and only review when things are bad. This was review "worthy" for sure.
