Came with the kids. Basic American-style food. Bar tender was serving the bar and dining room but was attentive and quick. Kids menu was well-rounded and they were happy (all you can ask for). Burger was one of the best I've ever had. Tender, loose, and a perfect medium. Fries were outstanding too.

The place had a sign on the door saying it had run out of propane earlier in the day but was open for business.. we were hungry so went it anyway.. Won't get into details because maybe they were just having a bad day (it was Friday 13th!) but we really should have gone somewhere else... Shepards pie was ok though.

This restaurant was right-next to our motel and open late, so we gave it a try despite the average reviews (we had no other options really). It was a Friday night and they had a live band which was actually pretty good. I ordered a steak which was below average and came with access to the self-service salad bar. The salad bar was a tragedy, at least by west coast standards. Quite honestly, they should just get rid of it and serve side-salads, because when you see the presentation you will want to cry a little. We sat out on the deck area, which was really dark and could've used some additional lighting. While getting eaten alive by mosquitoes, I found it difficult to talk to my fiancé, because of the large umbrellas on the table, which were unnecessary and obstructionist at night. This isn't reading like a a great review, right? Rest assured the wait staff is actually quite friendly, and the beer is really good.

Ate lunch here today and it was really good. I had the chicken bacon ranch quesadilla and it was very yummy! My husband had the chicken caesar salad and said it was good. Portions were a good size for the price. French fries with garlic aioli were REALLY good. Service was good too. We'll be back!

Tried to eat here on Friday jan 16. Door was locked but we could see people inside. No notice on the door or anything. You lost our businesses

Stopped here on the way back home from New Hampshire. Both of my daughters ordered the children's hot dogs and were very happy. My wife ordered the reuben sandwich and was extremely pleased. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch quesadilla and was completely blown away by how good it was. The gentleman that waited on us was very kind and attentive. Our wait for our food was ten minutes, tops. The only thing keeping me from giving five stars was the salad bar. What they offer is tasty, but there is not much offered. It sort of looks like the long lost brother of a real salad bar, and you don't know where it has been all of these years. Other than that, it was great. Would recommend to anyone and will dine there again.

It was ok. Certainly nothing to write home about. I probably wouldn't eat here again. Not with so many better options close by. I didn't sample it but if you are going name your establishment after a particular dish you should probably get it right. Shepard's Pie is only Shepard's Pie if it has Lamb in it. If it has beef it's called Cottage Pie. Shepard's don't herd cows.

This was a pleasant surprise ...we had been driving all day and I saw this on yelp before we got to Vermont the food was excellent great Shepard's pie and delicious horseradish crusted salmon...owners are very nice... Definitely would go back...

Overall excellent experience, the food was tasty and the service was very good. One thing worth noting the quantity was extra large (atleast for us), we got it packed but maybe going forward we will order more reasonably. I would recommend to friends for sure.

Stopped here again recently and the food was excellent as always. We've experienced intermittent service mainly due to staffing but this place is worth being patient. An unexpected gem in the area!
(4)Briana P.
Food took almost an hour. NOT worth the wait. Automatically adds gratuity no matter what the party size. Will NOT give you an itemized receipt back in hopes you won't catch it and then tip them AGAIN. Terrible, cheap, pathetic group of thieves. BEWARE! I have found many other nearby restaurants, where the employees actually EARN their tips, and the food is better!
(1)Denise L.
Don't judge a book by its cover. Despite the understated outside and simple interior decor, all dishes ordered by our party of 6 were great! Hats off to the chef!! We would definitely come back.
(5)Stacy H.
NOT. FOR. VEGETARIANS. their veggie burger -- a "black bean burger" -- tasted like a meat patty with black beans under it. i haven't eaten meat in 5 years and the taste of the patty still makes me nauseous.

6 of us in for an early lunch over the holiday weekend. Greeted promptly and led to a table, with only 2 other tables occupied. I'm not sure if the chef wasn't on yet or had to leave but basic sandwiches took over 55 minutes to get to the table. Food itself was decent and has been in past, but waiting that long kind of makes any meal turn sour. What ticked me off after that was the server who added 20% to the tab without mentioning it and more importantly removing the bill when returning with the credit card slip in the hopes that I didn't catch the gratuity previously added.

We recently met friends here for dinner. We had the scallops and rice. The food was expertly and innovatively prepared. I would definitely eat here again when I am in the area.

Enjoyed dinner here after exploring the Quechee Gorge. Friendly, efficient service and good wines. The Brie Chicken special was delicious and tasted fresh, and my companion's Shepard's Pie was very good. Salad bar was basic but fresh.
(4)Meredith P.
Decent food, very good service. My husband loved his steak and we were impressed by the wine selection. A tad overpriced, and the crowd was sort of dowdy/touristy, and the salad bar could have been a little more creative.
(4)Cynthia Y.
I thought this place ok. I came here with the family as it was right next to the Quality Inn we were staying in and didn't want to drive 15 mins to the next civilization lol. They have a choice of the salad bar by itself or with an entree. Maybe it was because arrived close to closing time. I though the salad bar tasted ok. The veggies were your standard grocery veggies. I ordered the shepherds pie. It was really filling but there wasn't much taste in the meat. I had better shepherds pie elsewhere. My sister-in-law ordered the baked mussels appetizer as her dinner. It was good but only if you dip them in the buttery sauce sitting on the bottom of the bowl. My mom ordered the New England turkey dinner and I wasn't too impressed with it. I think the best that night was probably the chicken wings my brother ordered. I mean you can't go too wrong with that. The waiter was very nice though and accommodating and I wouldn't discount their service. But food was so-so. By the way, they have a small bakery area at the front. Not sure what that tastes like but thought I'd point it out.

We used to love this place when it was at it's previous location. It's really gone down hill. The food is mediocre. The service is beyond bad. We were one of two parties there yesterday afternoon. We waited a full hour to get out food. There was no reason given nor was there an apology. There's just no excuse for this and it isn't the first time it has happened to us there. Literally yesterday there was only one other table with customers and we waited an hour for sandwiches. Not cool when you have ski lessons to get to. The server had the nerve to include her tip on the bill and presented it to us without the itemized bill. She was possibly hoping to get yet another tip. How ridiculous.

Went for a late lunch-just us/and one other family. I had the chicken and pesto my boyfriend had the pattymelt. Waitress was friendly and attentive and the prices weren't *too bad foraa quasi touristy area near the gorge. In all, not bad, not great, but perfect if you'rehungry and justnt to sit someplace quiet and eat.
(4)GRUB BUD S.
Perhaps a 3 and half Stars (if offered) We spent a sweet day here antique shopping and hiking down to the gorge. We went in early spring and were able to pick several handfuls of fiddle heads which we later made into a yummie Grub Bud special. As evening came upon the Grub Buds, their tummies began to growl and took nearly an hour to find a decent place that was affordable and didn't look like tourist trap. We nearly ate all the crumbs from the bottom of the Triscuit box in the parking lot of the glass blowing place!! Luckily Grub Buds iPod Touch got service in a strange location and Yelp was there to help! We got the Shepard's pie and it was very good. Way better then Grub Bud (male's) parents used to make. He hated it, but this trip gave him a newfound respect for the dish. Grub Bud (female) enjoyed the salad bar. We also got a special which was several BBQ'd meats . This part of the meal was decent, but nothing to write home about. We think you should just stick to the homestyle dishes this joint offers. The dudes behind us got Chicken pot pie which smelled and looked pretty good.
(3)K R.
Waitress was friendly. Burgers were great. Really good french fries.
(4)Oleksander S.
Try the wings. The honey chipotle sauce is worth the rating alone but on top of that the service was friendly and the atmosphere (at least in the bar area) was good. All around a great place to stop and grab some food on the way back from VT. Had a burger that was solid too. Unassuming as it may look, this place knows what they're doing.
(5)Dori F.
Great food! I got the chicken w/mozzarella and pesto sandwich. The bread was fresh and soft. The waitress offered us a pitcher of water for our party of 7, which helped a lot. We went at an off-hour (3pm) and were still taken care of immediately. Please go to this restaurant if you are in the area... you won't be sorry!!
(4)Michael M.
This place was recommended by the staff at the hotel we were staying at in White River Junction. Incredibly average at best. My wife had the meatloaf and it looked like it had been prepared days and just reheated in the microwave. I had the turkey dinner and had the same experience, just reheated leftovers. Maybe a bad night for them but I wouldn't go back.
(2)Mark C.
Liked the food - all burgers cooked as ordered, portions were ample. Did think it was slightly overpriced (very few options under $10). We also were assessed the gratuity for having a party of six - four adults, two toddlers and a baby. You can argue that as the toddlers had meals they should count towards the six, but it's the first time I've ever had the kids count towards an automatic tip, so it seemed odd.
(3)Peter N.
Ate here over 4th of July weekend. One family member had the salad bar which was nothing special. Another member had the nachos with grilled chicken, this was filling and a good choice. My wife and I had the Chicken Pot Pie, which had the potential to be very good, but was in fact disappointing. WHERES THE CHICKEN! The crust was baked crispy and well done. The pie was loaded with potatoes and carrots. I had 4 tiny pieces of chicken my wife had 6. We had to hunt for it. I am a big fan of Chicken Pot Pie this one was severely lacking in chicken. I would probably not give this place a second chance.
