Great food and service. Always friendly and one of the best burgers around. Huge apple crisp for desert is a must.

Nice casual dinner location with delicious and definitely not-boring food. Small cozy restaurant- one side has booths & tables and the open kitchen side has counter service. Menu is varied with many comfort food choices: soup, burgers, sandwiches, BBQ, stirfry & curries, pasta and other interesting entrees, like duck & sesame seared ahi tuna. Fast and friendly service- the restaurant had a full house but the waitress had us in and out with a smile. I had the cranberry chicken- like a turkey dinner, but w/ 2 huge chicken breasts, homemade cranberry sauce, creamy mashed red potatoes w/ gravy, stuffing, and roasted zucchini & summer squash. Huge portion and delicious comfort-y goodness. Hot apple cider is a must-have and their dessert special, maple bread pudding, was heavenly. Location in a shopping plaza at the Rt 100 & 11 junction, plenty of parking- very convenient to where I was staying on Rt 30 in Jamaica VT.

I'd consider myself a regular here at NAG. I've eaten in and taken out. The food is almost always great and never not good. The Jambalaya is great (ask for extra rice though). The tuna is great too. Love the burgers and the Gorgonzola bread appetizer is to die for. The service is friendly and attentive. Love this place.

Nothing great, had grilled cheese sandwich it was toast with slice of cheese. Probably would not eat here again.

Very good food, smiling, quick service, reasonable prices, hey, what's not to like? Of course we've been here only once, but ... We showed up for lunch by accident, looking for somewhere else but deciding we liked the looks of this unpretentious little restaurant, tucked into what is sort of a strip mall next to the IGA grocery. It has two rooms, a full bar with counter service on the left, booths and tables on the right. We sat in a booth and were served by a very cordial (and VERY attractive young woman). Diverse menu, Vermont beef, some local foodstuffs, all good to see. We really enjoyed the jambalaya (who expected New Orleans here?), spicy and laced with tasty sausage. The soups are outstanding apparently (chowder and tomato cheddar), and they do some mean fries. One in our group ordered a grilled cheese on wheat; hard to screw that up, we know, and they didn't. In short -- since this is a short review -- we came away pleased and not hungry any longer.

not ready for prime time. it was not a great evening. we had been working around our house for much of the day and just wanted a quick 'bite' in town. we went to the generally reliable 'Jakes' first, but after standing there at the hostess desk for several minutes, seeing no one working, noticing an empty table for six that was uncleared, we decided to leave. a mere 300 feet away was 'The New American Grill', and we figured we couldn't do worse. But we also didn't do better. a hostess said 'sit anywhere, so we took a table on the left, in front of a counter that overlooked the prep table. a few minutes later, a group of three took a table next to us, followed shortly thereafter by a couple who sat at the counter. a waiter came over to the threesome and talked to them for six or seven minutes without even looking at us. finally, i asked him if our table was one that he might help. he said, pleasantly, that yes, of course, he would help us. we ordered a hamburger and a chicken ceasar salad, and the order was routed to the kitchen. but 20 minutes later we still had no food. a waitress came by and refilled our water glasses and brought a couple slices of bread. we could see dinner plates of food sitting on the shelf above the counter under heat lamps, but no waiters came to distribute the prepared dishes. one of the diners at the table next to us, obviously either an employee or part owner, got up herself and got some utensils from the kitchen. this review is already too long, but if you're at this restaurant already, you will likely have time to read it.

"Comfort Foods from All Over the World"! This is how I saw them advertised at the Bromley Sun Lodge in Peru, Vermont. I found that claim to be very true. At first I was a little disappointed that they no longer served the Tandoori Lamb...but soon, I was impressed with the Chicken Noodle soup and Clam Chowder. I had the Cuban sandwich (my first) - came hot crispy and delivered on the tangy chipotle mayo and pulled pork. My wife had the crab cakes - now I am not big of crab cakes...but ended up eating half of her entree...so...very good! Our friends had two of the Thai entrees (Green Curry and Cashew-Ginger chicken curry)) - they were definitely different from the Thai taste we were used to, but tasted very fresh and delicious. Cornbread Bread Pudding was excellent! Highly, highly recommend it. There was another waffle dessert we had - topped with bananas fried in butter and ice cream - forget the name now - that was also excellent. Very courteous and friendly staff, ready to offer suggestions. All in all an excellent experience and well worth the quick stop we made in Londonderry before heading back to NY.

To our German exchange student, this was Americana all in one. Very broad menu and we were surprised how well executed. He had the Vermont grass-fed hamburger and it was gone before we even looked up. I had the bbq salmon but the spicey coleslaw overpowered the delicate taste of the fish. Everything else looked very fresh and well prepared.

The food, service and atmosphere were very nice. Just beware if the waitress walks by and casually asks if you want a refill on your drink...they aren't bottomless and we were charged for a second round of soda without realizing it was going to be $2.00 per glass. Ouch! Next time ( and we will come back), we will stick to water.

Excellent!! Unexpectedly stopped in and boy were we happily surprised!! The boys had mac and cheese - so creamy so delicious! Jerk wings and potstickers to start - YUM!!! The jerk is just right!! Red curry for me - seriously I would drive the 3 hours just for this dish! Hubby had the black and blue burger - perfectly cooked. Clean and very friendly service! Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. We will stop in every adventure to VT!!!

Not many choices in this small "town." Had lunch on a week day; just three tables occupied. Spouse had quiche and salad; mine was steak and fries. The quiche had a peculiar consistency, and the salad was small. The steak was cooked properly and tasty, although somewhat tough. Bottom line, for where you are it is OK.

Stopped by the New American Grill after a long drive to Vermont from New York City. It was quiet, the food was decent, and they had a pretty decent selection of beer. The staff, however, was amazingly friendly. It was nice to see someone smiling after a long drive in the snow.

New American was recommended to me by the innkeeper at Upper Pass Lodge and what a gem this place is! My boyfriend and I ate here twice during our three night stay. We loved everything this restaurant has to offer from the waitresses, decor, music, food and beer too! The beer selection is spot on with local brews on tap. We didn't try cocktails or wine but I'm sure they're splendid as well. I loved my Ahi Sandwich it was was perfectly seared, 95% pink. The fried green tomato sandwich was nice and the Greek salad with pickled onions YUM! Bread pudding brought us back the second time, we could not leave Londonderry without trying it.

Nothing like finding a random gem. From start to finish this place hit the spot. The service was good and prompt, and the interior was nice and modern. The food: Complimentary fresh bread was delicious! Clam chowder was perfect and had a very unique spin, not thick and creamy, but a thinner broth, very big fan Fish and Chips, fish was great, good crust, and fries were okay Lobster pasta, a bit on the blander side but was still delicious Everyone in our group loved their food Nice beer selection and good coffee Prices were standard No brainer if ever in this area again

We stumbled on this place after a severe thunderstorm flooded our fire out and dashed all hopes of hamburgers cooked over wood coals. Sad face. I don't think the wait staff were impressed with our appearance. We were in the middle of a camping trip, hadn't showered in 36 hours, and we had run out of clean clothes. But, the food at the New American Grill completely erased all disappointments and embarrassments from our brains with the first bite. We had the gorgonzola bread appetizer (right balance of creamy cheese, drizzled with an amazing balsamic reduction and pieces of fresh tomato), he had the mexicali burrito (Chipotle-sized), and I had the evening special, a mussel and scallop stew that did I did not realize I craved until I had my first bite. Mmm!!! There were 18 mussels and 11 scallops (I counted!) in a thick tomato broth loaded with sausage, summer squash, bell peppers, and beans. I don't even like summer squash or bell peppers, but I LOVED it in this stew! I was definitely a member of the clean plate club! We finished it off with the maple-bourbon bread pudding which came out steaming and which disappeared within 30 sec. I can't wait until our next camping trip to stop by the New American Grill!

Excellent food at reasonable prices I have been here a few times. My first time, I had a draft beer and the Mexicali Burger. Both were excellent. The burger was a perfect medium rare with a hint of the Mexican flavors and was not drowned with sauce/mayo/cheese. The fries were crispy and tasty on their own without lots if seasoning. The service was outstanding. It was near closing time, but no sign of that in staff behavior or attitude. My last visit, I had the Blackened Salmon. It had Cajun seasoning and it was perfectly pan seared. It was served on top of clam chowder over wilted spinach and mashed potatoes. It was delicious! It's my favorite dish there. My brother had Créole Chicken and Sausage Alfredo and he couldn't stop raving about it. It was fairly spicy and he had enough left over for the next day. The restaurant has a modern bistro feel with a diverse menu and a simple decor. I have always been seated quickly, intrigued by the specials and satisfied by the drinks The only major down side is that there is sometimes a wait. When the restaurant is full, expect to wait a good 30 minutes. A must try if in the area!!

Sadly, very disappointing. Steak was undercooked and sent back, mashed potatoes are apparently potato salad with BBQ sauce. The Paella was absolutely horrible. Kids food is way overpriced for what they get. The service was good. Had a really nice college age girl who was very apologetic. Would never go back.

Service was outstanding and the food was better than average. Wine and beer selection is not huge but well considered. Would definitely return.

If your staying around Londonderry this is decent choice for eating out. We had the chicken quesadillas, scallop stir fry and mushroom raviolis. All were pretty good. The stir fry and quesadillas were large enough to make for two meals. The desserts looked interesting but we were too full to order. Service was great and prices were reasonable.

Visiting Vermont for the first time loved it. We drove around trying to find a place to eat for lunch. Sound easy.... not. The location is rural small town after small town. Stopped at 3 places before we could finally get lunch. Came upon a strip mall don't see many of them among the trees. The New American Grill restaurant was a great find. Small diner with a bar. They have a variety of food. I had a wonderful grill chicken burger with pesto mayo and mozzarella cheese very fresh tasting, and juicy. Plus very cheesy. And it came with fries. My other guest all had the steak sandwich they all said it was very good. The menu is impressive. They have an unique spin on the traditional. The full bar is a good addition to the meal. We had some local beers very good. Great service, friendly waiter. The cook or chief came buy to ask how the food was. This is great place. I'm glad we found them. If I'm ever lost in Vermont again I hope to stumble onto The New American Grill again.

Really slow service but all four of us liked what we ate. Duck was very good, ravioli and fish were also pretty tight. Definitely took a while to get food on the table but it was a holiday week... So have to give them that.

Despite its mall location, I wanted to like this place. It was convenient with a varied menu. It was awful. My blackened salmon came swimming in a sea of clam chowder (okay I get serving it in a cup alongside, but this was weird) and it was overcooked into inedibility. Hubby's burger was just okay. Fries weren't good. Kids pizza was not pizza, but cheese on top of weird bread with marinara to dip into, but no sauce on the "pizza". Service was fine but kitchen was slammed and we had to wait ONE HOUR (no exaggeration) for our food with barely an apology. It's a Saturday night - you think they would staff enough help in the kitchen to work with the crowds. Also, waitress checked my id but didn't notice it was my birthday. Worst birthday dinner ever, without any doubt. Bottom line: unless you have really low standards and are starving with no other options, stay away.

This restaurant has an excellent atmosphere and the wait staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was perfect from appetizer to dessert. We started out with New England clam chowder and I had the pulled pork flatbread. We shared both and they were delish! For our main entree My husband had the duck and I had the salmon topped with crabmeat and both dishes had fantastic flavors and were cooked perfectly. Will recommend this restaurant to couples and families alike. Portion size is hearty and the price is right !!!!!

Food and atmosphere are great. We waited a while for food, drinks, etc. but I'll attribute that to it being a busy night on a long weekend. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in the area. Also, the staff are quite friendly.

I happened upon this place during a long drive, a couple hours after I decided I should stop for food. I had a draft beer and the Mexicali Burger. Both were excellent. The burger was a perfect medium rare with a hint of the Mexican flavors and was not drowned with sauce/mayo/cheese. It was just right. And the fries were done crisp like I like them. Tasty on their own without lots of seasoning. The service was outstanding. I sat at the counter, where I got a good look into the kitchen and saw most of the staff. They really seemed to like what they were doing and liked each other. So that positive energy made its way to the customer - me. I was greeted very nicely. It was near closing time, but no sign of that in staff behavior or attitude. Just the right amount of friendly chatter. A waitress asked me if my order had been taken (it had). A cook asked another waitress to deliver my burger when my waitress was away. Easy settle-up. Etc. A great find that I'll return to when I'm back in the neighborhood.

Have been a fan of New American Grill since it's opening. Haven't been there in a while. Now I've visited it twice in just as many weeks. Last week having dinner solo I arrived late 8:30pm and was seated immediately. I ordered a glass of wine & the daily special, flank steak beef stroganoff. Shortly my wine and a bread basket arrived. In about 15 to 20 minutes cheerful Max (chef/owner) arrives with my stroganoff. The dish was of substantial size. The steak was cooked perfectly nice and tender, the pasta was slightly over cooked, the dish was seasoned well. Today I had my son decide on diner venue and his choice was American Grill. Upon arrival again we were seated immediately. We both ordered a drink and New England clam chowder as starters. I ordered the appetizer steamed mussels in lemon, wine & garlic as my entree and my son had the Seafood Pasta Alfredo. Shortly our drinks arrived along with a basket of warm bread. Within 5 or so minutes our chowder arrived. The chowder was nice and thick with lots of clams, potatoes & bacon, flavored with sage, scallions & thyme - definitely home made, we both woofed it. Our entrees arrived shortly after we finished our first course. Again, the portions were generous. The mussels arrived in a big bowl, hot & swimming in a delicious herbed broth. They were cooked perfectly. It's very easy to under/over cook the mussels, it can be a matter of seconds to do either. The pasta had a generous helping of large shrimps and scallops & they also were cooked properly. Both dishes were very flavorful. Look this is not Peter Kelley's Xavier or X2O or Nobu...but as they claim - home made comfort food from around the world - go and enjoy. The BAD news no more breakfast :(

After hearing about the great apple crisp from other Yelpers, the wife and I stopped by for a late evening snack. I stuck with the recommended crisp while she got the maple bread pudding. Both were VERY good, and the sizes were HUGE. Best of all, the owner's daughter was a wonderfully nice waitress and gave us great conversation. We may definitely return for dinner before leaving the area in a few days.

Great food, friendly service. You would never believe that you are having dinner in a strip mall storefront. Do not let the location dissuade you. The food is great.

as a new york city foodie i never expected to find a restaurant serving delicious food in a shopping center....but that is exactly what happened. was visiting friends in andover and they recommended this place.... between the three of us we had the carrot ginger soup, mussels, scallops and ribs...my order was the rib order ...really delicious.....even the cole slaw that came with it was good.....since i am more of a wine drinker with dinner i had to rely on the waitresses recommendation for a beer....once i described in general what i wanted i tasted two and chose the one i liked the best and it was a good ale.....dessert was a chocolate mousse made with ghirandelli chocolate somebody really knows their food and their way around the kitchen...i would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone especially you new york city types heading up to vermont for a week end ...... the only minor reason i did not give it five stars was that i had asked the waitress twice for a separate check and that was not done ..although she was very sweet and obliging i would have preferred she did what i had asked originally.

This little gem of a restaurant is located in a strip mall in that you can easily overlook if your not paying attention. The New American Grill is an informal, folksy place. The menu is quite extensive and varied, and everything is fresh and delicious. Don't forget to leave room for dessert! The apple crumb is scrumptious!
