I've been going up to the Killington area for many years and we almost always make The Inn at Long Trail a stop for dinner. The atmosphere is exactly what you're looking for - you can choose from the cozy bar or nice dinning room. The menu has something for everyone and I have always been very impressed (the Irish soda bread is to die for). And the live music on weekends is fantastic. An overall great experience!

What a find. Great throw back old school inn. Amazing breakfast, great pub, fun to have thru hikers around, owners are the best. The place has a Swiss Alps atmosphere with a twist of Guinness. I would recommend a stay at the inn and if not a visit to the pub and a climb on the local cliff or trails.

Some things never change and in the case of the Inn at Long Trail that's great. Whenever I'm passing by, and it's been too infrequently lately, I always make it a point to stop in for both their perfect Guinness pour and delicious Guinness beef stew. You should make it a point to stop in and a have an adult beverage at the bar or sit near the large rock that the pub is built around. Great food, nice people, and Irish music at the base of the Killington access road.

Food is ok, Guinness on tap and live Irish entertainment on weekends. I've been there many times, but recently I have been unable to get a table due to kids hanging out taking up tables. My rant; if you have kids eat in the restaurant.

The Inn and Long Trail is conveniently located by the Deer Leap trail heading into the Long Trail. It's a nice Irish bar with a giant rock coming into the bar area. We came here on Xmas night and received attentive friendly service. We ordered a few Switchbacks, the Mac n cheese, and the chicken pot pie. The pot pie was delicious but the Mac n cheese tasted like an Alfredo pasta instead. Darts were fun.

A few buddies and I literally pushed our van into the parking lot after getting stuck outside in a snowstorm. Turns out we couldn't have gotten stuck in a better spot. They graciously let us hang out in the living room until we could decide whether to try to depart again or stay the night until the snow passed. The place is as cozy as it gets. They built us a fire, offered us coffee and hot chocolate as we waited out the storm. Everything is EXACTLY as you'd expect a rustic Vermont Inn to look like complete with board games, puzzles, antique ski gear everywhere and more. Sitting on the couch by the roaring fire isn't a bad way to wait out a blizzard. We ended up staying the night and having lunch & dinner at the small Irish pub attached. Spuds, Shepard's Pie, Patty Melt and Guinness pours hit the spot. If you're looking for a true rustic VT experience that's nothing fancy, but just good people, good food and unique setting - this is your place.

I've both stayed here and ate here. It's a great place for everything involved! The pub is legendary and feels like your on the other side of the Atlantic. The rooms are all different and depending where you stay can feel like your typical bed and breakfast or a nice cabin in the woods. Their breakfast was the best part, I could have stayed there all day and ate away. I was also lucky enough to have a nice pint of Guinness right as they opened up the pub! Great place, great people, great food... Close to the skiing, shopping, and the amazing Green Mountain National Golf Course!

While the pub is open year round, the dining room serves dinner in the fall and winter. No worries, I'll return when the snow flies! I stayed at the inn again. This time in one of the rooms in the upstairs. I personally found it to be much more comfortable than the fireplace rooms on the outer wings. Our room happened to have a whirlpool and was quite nice. Simple, but nicely furnished and clean. Breakfast is included with the reasonable overnight price. Best of all, just a few steps out the door is the trail with plenty of opportunity for some great day hikes.

I found a paper brochure from my stay there 4 or 5 winters ago. Since my memory may not serve me in the future, I'm writing a very post-digestive review of the restaurant. I do remember, because it was THAT good, my Yankee Pot Roast. It may have been called something slightly different as I think it had Guinness in the recipe. Magnificent. Also, the ambience and the rustic features of the restaurant were amazing and creative. Built into a rock formation and hill, rocks served as features in the restaurant and fireplace. The bartop was made of a solid tree and ask the bartender for the story and age. I did stay for two or three nights and the staircase to the second floor was quite unique as well as the furniture (I will leave it as a surprise for you). Finally, Okee was the front desk caretaker and ask him the story behind settling in Killington and leaving the Bar behind! I guess I do remember quite a bit if this wonderful place...

This place was a fantastic find for my girlfriend and I when we came up to killington for the night. We didn't stay, only ate dinner. Staff was super friendly and up for conversation, very traditional irish type pub. There was an awesome live band that the crowd was very (drunkenly might I add) in to. Our food was awesome, quick service, and plenty of Guinness :). Highly recommend

This review is really for McGrath's Pub as we stopped in here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon prior to hiking 3957 ft to Pico Peak (entrance right across the street). We're all seriously impressed by all the Irish.. STUFF on the walls and the natural wood-laden structure of the whole place. The living/ common area in the back where guests at the Inn stay is super cozy and beautiful as well as the Pub itself. Darts, portraits of war heros, the whole nine. Food was super authentic as well (I really should've gotten the stew). My only small gripe was that there was only one person in the front of the house - the bartender served as our waiter also. Solid place and after looking at their website, I seriously am thinking about staying here next time as they had me at hottub.

The Inn at the Long Trail is an absolute gem. I was told about this place by a family who had vacationed in Killington and frequented this place for years. They spoke of this place fondly and I know why. First off, it's extremely quaint and beautiful, using it's natural surroundings to its advantage. Long Trail is built into the rock face. Order a Guinness and it comes with a beautiful shamrock impression on the head. Major skill. The food? It's an Irish place, how good could it be? DELICIOUS. I'm not particularly a fan of potato skins and as a group we split them as an appetizer. Nicely surprised. And I ended up splitting the reuben. Extremely good. All food had lots of great flavor. As a side note, the soda bread is awesome. If I get the opportunity to go to Killington for ski/snowboarding season again, this place will earn top priority as a visit.

We are giving the restaurant three stars only because of the friendly staff and atmosphere. The food at best is mediocre. We had the famous Stew in a cup for starters... but where's the beef and it was not the best I ever had. We had one piece in each of our cups. Bread was good and butter was great. The main meal however was lacking. We ordered pork tenderloin, three small pieces and was dry and overcooked. Baked potato was not cooked enough and hard on the inside. The other guests had ribs which were over sauced and seemed stewed and not fresh. Shepard's pie was mediocre, the Risotto was ok but lacked flavor. They should stick with what they know and not wander into areas they do not have experience in. We would like to come back because of the first two reasons but they should hire a new chef or update the menu.

No. No, no, no and just no. After camping for a week, we were looking forward to returning to civilization at the Long Trail Inn as it was recommended by a friend. The place, the restaurant, and our room was dark, dirty, smelly, and way overpriced for what it was. Also, it's on the main highway so it's not pretty or relaxing at all. We will never will go there again. Sorry Long Trail, you need to clean up, brighten up, and price yourself properly.

Ate at Mcgraths. I like the atmosphere of the restaurant but it ends there. I had the french onoin soup. No flavor. My friend had the same and agreed. Then had a "patty melt" (it a burger with swiss) Came out cold. Friend had the shepards pie. He said it was good. Won't go back.

Just back from a weekend staying here - wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful which was close to Killington mountain and this fitted the bill well. The pros 1. The price - 100 bux a night for b and b - great value 2. Breakfast - really solid 3. The communal areas - cozy and welcoming, especially after being in the hills 4. The bar was a really nice bar with great staff and friendly service. Good beer and a great atmosphere - entertaining musicians. The cons 1. The room was really really really shabby. Wallpaper was scraped and peeling, the bathroom could have done with some resealing around the bath. We were just looking for basic B andB ,and it was clean, however it would not have taken much for a lick of paint. 2. There was no hairdryer in the room -I presumed there would be one and I wish there had been so I could have washed my hair after a day skiing. 3. The food in the bar was only A-OK. We didn't ask if the restaurant was open, but it seemed to be dark and quiet and it wasn't offered as an option for dining on check in. All in all we would go back - convenient location and reasonably priced.

We went skiing in Killington last weekend and was told to go to McGrath's Pub (inside the Inn at Long trail) for an excellent meal. We had no plans that night (Christmas Eve- we did our own thing this year) so decided to give it a try. Boy were we happy we did. We both ordered the shepard's pie- a delicious pie filled with mashed potatoes, ground beef, etc. Wow. I'm not even a big fan of shepard's pie but after this I regret not ordering this more often at other places. It was absolutely amazing. Our server (Owen) was also super friendly and helpful. We split the chocolate bread pudding for dessert (again- Wow), and were so full afterwards. Wish we lived closer so we could come here more often. The ambiance is so friendly and laid back, like the kind of place you spend hours at just relaxing and catching up with friends. This is a must place to try if you are in/around the Killington area.

I stayed here again this August. This is a very friendly warm and open place where locals, tourists, day hikers and thru-hikers all get along. There is a comfortable Irish pub with a good, but but not etensive pub menu. Irish beer and Whiskey is a big theme and the use Guinness in a couple of their recipes as well as selling it on tap. Weekends feature Irish music - which on the nights I've heard it was full of rowdy drinking songs performed by folks who were better entertainers than they were musicians. The other public areas are very nice, they have a well stocked game room and a nice public area to hang out in. The dining room and the pub are both built around large bolders and the dining room looks out and in the summer you can often see hummingbirds feeding in the morning. Other pluses: Fireplace suites with gas lit fireplaces and dogs allowed. Adequate reasonably priced rooms. Full breakfast from a menu in the morning with rooms. The restaurant is open in the winter. I have only been there summers, but it looks like a very cozy place to hang out after skiing or snowshoeing.

I'm only reviewing the pub as we stayed elsewhere during our visit. We loved the food and the atmosphere of the place. There are some really neato features in this pub, like the rock from the mountain incorporated into the structure. Best pour Guinness I've had in the US, complete with the little shamrock. We stopped in for lunch after hiking the Deer Leap Lookout (worth it) and I had the french onion soup, it was just perfect. The right amount of cheese topping, not too hot but not too cool either. The broth was just salted perfectly as well. The Boy had their shepperd's pie, which is one of the best I've tasted. The meat had the just the right amount of gravy and it was the tasiest gravy I had in a while. I wish I had tried their Guinness stew but I guess I have reason to go back now! We would definitely eat here again and may even brave their rooms if we find ourselves in the Killington area again.

I feel like maybe I should have experienced more to leave a review but I just had to say that what I did experience was great! We stopped for a couple beers while passing through. (not the driver of course) We had already eaten, or I would have dove into the Irish influenced menu. Good selection of beers and a beautifully poured guinness was a plus. I noticed they had bread pudding on the dessert list and had to try some. I'm glad I did. It was delicious! Made from homemade irish soda bread and chocolate, it's truly unique bread pudding. Not a huge fan of the whiskey sauce, but definately in love with the pudding itself. Next time I'm in the area I'll be sure to try some food, and maybe stay the night. There is some great hiking very close by.
