I went here on 08/02 with my boyfriend, sister and her husband during our vacation in Fletcher, VT. We were curious about what other dining options Jeffersonville had to offer, as we had already tried 158 Main St. Bakery with delicious results. The Mix proved to be an excellent choice. I ordered a smoked salmon sandwich without the onions (it came with lettuce, tomato, cream cheese and capers) on wheat toast, and I had some homemade cranberry juice as well. Holy Mother of God, that cranberry juice was unlike any juice I've ever drank. Surely this must be the nectar the gods in ancient Greece drank up in Mt. Olympus. It was tart and sweet, but not overpowering, and there were bits and pieces of cranberry scattered throughout to give it a little extra kick. I didn't care if it was $3.50 a glass; it was divine. As for my smoked salmon sandwich, I enjoyed it very much; the fishy flavor of the salmon was offset by the salty bite of the capers, and the lettuce and tomato were crisp and fresh). Our server, Justin, was very friendly and prompt, and didn't seem to mind our inability to come to a quick decision on what we wanted to order (seriously, almost all the menu options looked awesome). We promised him we'd be back for another breakfast/brunch for our return trip home, but sadly, The Mix was closed due to a local music/arts festival on the 8th. Boo! Next year, The Mix. Next year.

Heard good things about this place, so we drove 45 minutes to try it out. We waited 40 minutes for a table and then another 30 minutes for breakfast. When breakfast finally arrived, we wished we'd stayed home. The beet and kale hash really had no flavor. Kale looked like it came out of a bag from Hannafords. Poached eggs were cooked so they were completely hard (6 or 7 minutes hard). When I asked for another order of eggs to replace my hard ones, the waiter returned to our table no fewer than 3 times to check and re-check that I really wanted to replace my hard eggs with two soft ones. I ensured him I did. 15 minutes later, when I finally received 2 more eggs, they too were completely hard. I didn't have the heart or the patience to complain again. Also, the eggs were definitely not fresh, local farm eggs as the waiter claimed. I know fresh eggs when I eat them and these were not fresh. This place has the pretense of serving local food, but we weren't served any. The service is slow, the food is lacking in flavor and it doesn't appear to be cooked with any flair. No reason to return.

Now that was a great breakfast! The creme brule french toast was delicious. The bacon, egg, and potatoes were cooked well and seasoned perfectly. I tried the maple milk, and it tasted like a milkshake. It's location on a sidestreet made it a little hard to find, but I'm glad we took the time to look.

A small restaurant about 10 minutes from Smuggler's Notch Resort. Excellent and fresh Huevos!

Really interesting selection of items: normal breakfast fare with a twist. French toast + creme brule= amazing, hash + kimchi= unique and yummy, poutine + eggs = gluttonous breakfast. Breakfast sandwich was huge. Smallish seating area makes it impossible to sit a large (5+) together. Overall, we all left happy and stuffed.

All four of us got something different and really liked it. I got the omlete special, beets, spinach, cheese went well together, good taters and toast, good coffee and service. Closes early. Weird but interesting apocalyptic scenery paintings on the walls. Outside tables, good menu mix, good ingredients. Soup, sandwiches, salads, egg dishes. Grits, cherizo and eggs looked good. Recommended for the food and easy mealtime.

We ate here while vacationing at Smuggler's Notch. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, and the crime brûlée French toast was amazing! It's a little rich so I recommend the half order.

A good breakfast place near a ski mountain should have Bloody Marys and Mimosas at the very least. The dishes are fairly good (especially the vegetarian fare), but we were asked if we wanted to "upgrade to local eggs!" For a dollar. Are you kidding me??? All eggs should be as locally-sourced as possible. It is highly doubtful they keep two types of eggs back there. Also, we were charged $2 more for a seitan substitution on a reuben. The last time I checked, seitan costs less than the local meat that normally comes on the reuben.

It is unfortunate to give this hopeful venue a poor review. Upon entering there were 4 groups eating and a bunch of empty tables and the counter area available. All of the tables still had dirty dishes so we opted for the counter. Upon sitting down we noticed the counter was dirty so we politely sat waiting for someone to greet us, wipe it down and offer us coffee. After sitting there for roughly 10 minutes (making eye contact with all of the employees) no greetings were offered. A mother and daughter entered the restaurant who were known by the employees. Suddenly the dirty high top was cleared, wiped, and menus were given to them. After waiting a couple more minutes we still had a dirty counter surface, no coffee, no menus, no hello or greeting. For the first time in our lives we got up and left a restaurant due to poor service.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast here today. The creme brûlée French toast was delicious - almost like cake. If you have a sweet tooth get this! My breakfast of the standards (eggs, potatoes, ham, English muffins) was good. Not extraordinary but it's a basic breakfast so it's perfectly fine. My daughter's pancake was very good. Coffee was just okay. Service was excellent! Cheerful, attentive, and accommodating. Decor is simple Vermont -perfect for the size and style of restaurant. If I was local I'd definitely go back. We had a decent breakfast earlier in the week at 158 Main but liked the food here much better. If you are a foodie they have lots of very interesting options. I only went simple because I'm pregnant otherwise I would absolutely have tried one of their specialty dishes!

I think the place was okay. I will say the bfast I got was alright! Eggs done well, pancake tasty but the only thing that disturbed me was the massive amounts of flies all over the place. Kinda made me feel the place wasn't the cleanest.

Tucked back behind the jeffersonville inn and the village tavern off of church street. Not as crowded as 158 main, but the food is just as good if not better. I had kimchi sausage hash with poached eggs and fresh baked rye toast. I had high hopes and was not disappointed. The kimchi added a really nice bite to the sausage and potatoes, and the poached eggs ran all over everything the only way it should be. A little siracha and ketchup complimented everything quite nicely!

This place is amazing! You will be pleasantly surprised! Great food, great coffee and awesome staff!!! A new family tradition for us!

Took my son to breakfast here the other morning. The service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious. My son had pancakes which he enjoyed and I had sausage gravy and biscuits with scrambled eggs. Will go back.

This the favorite brunch spot of my nieces-in-law, who grew up in a neighboring town. All the ingredients are fresh, and they add their own, gourmet, creative touches to their omelets, french toast, and other breakfast items. In the fall, my husband, niece, and I all ordered the Breakfast Flatbread ($8) sausage, apple, caramelized onion, and cheddar with rounds of potatoes underneath and a sunny side-up egg on top, home fries. I ate all of mine -- inhaled it, really, and then foraged from my husband's plate. (The gentleman pretended to not notice) On another occasion, I had the seasonal omelette -- on that spring day, it included tender fiddlehead (baby fern, for the uninitiated), black beans, caramelized onion, and cheddar. A lovely Mix. They have great homefries, soft slices with a hearty potato flavor. I also love their cinnamon bread, and the strawberry jam seems homemade--excellent One of my favorites, though, is indeed the creme brûlée french toast (8$) 2 triangles, 2 inches thick of dense, eggy, heaven in your mouth -- though I needed more syrup. I don't drink coffe, but while my husband says it's "eh...," my daughter declared it good. A solid place to have a better-than-usual, out-of-the-ordinary breakfast.

We really enjoyed our dining experience at The Mix. We ate here on a rainy Sunday morning. I ordered a hot chocolate which was a perfect addition to a chilly morning. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. He liked it and he ate it, but he did feel that it was a little too oniony. He's really picky when it comes to onions though. I had the famous Creme Brûlée French Toast with Drunken Blueberries. It totally lived up to it's hype. It was SO good. The service was great. We had a great experience.

Yelpers led me here and we went with high expectations but were underwhelmed as a group. There were 8 of us and we couldn't be seated together, which put a damper on the meal right away. We all ordered different things and found the prices quite steep and the end results were just okay. Most portions weren't particularly large, though a couple were almost too much for some. I know this is a very bland review, but to be honest my experience there was pretty forgettable. I had amazing dining experiences while staying in this area, but this was not one of them.

I have not yet been there. But I live very close and the food in pics look amazing !!!!!! I hope to get there soon, I was a baker and waitress for most of my life:-) it's nice to c u combining the 2.... That is my dream In life.... I will b there soon to test it out so I can tell everyone that it's awesome, I hope !!!!

Had a great breakfast here on an early morning scenic drive a few days after a big snowstorm. It wasn't very busy, we enjoyed a few cups of coffee alongside our huevos rancheros and breakfast poutine. There were several other menu items we wanted to try, and after this enjoyable experience, I think we'll be back for more!

Four words: Creme Brulee French Toast. This breakfast dish is seriously life-altering. You will not be sorry. I came here with my family while on a ski vacation at Smugglers Notch, and thanks to yelp, we found this little gem. It's a little out of the way, and it's easy to blow past the tiny sign, but once you're inside, get ready for a treat. I'm no stranger to quaint Vermont breakfast spots, but this is one of the best I've been to. The French Toast was to die for - a custardy, blueberry-smothered hunk of heaven. Others in my party had the huevos rancheros and the breakfast flatbread, both of which were also delicious. They serve tea in these adorable glass beakers that keep the tea relatively warm. The service was great. The waitress was very friendly, the staff seemed generally happy to be there, and the other patrons looked well-fed. Prices were low - while I definitely have a higher threshold for that, coming from Manhattan, this place is really affordable. (Entrees were all around $8.) Check this spot out for a great breakfast!!

The Mix used to be my favorite breakfast spot. It is still really really good, but unfortunately it isn't quite where it used to be. They cut their menu down significantly this past year and have been out of certain items the last couple of times that I've been there. Also, they made the bizarre decision to eliminate printed menus. You now have to order off of what they've written on a chalkboard and the descriptions of each items are very vague (e.g. "breakfast flatbread" with no explanation). I find myself asking the servers way too many questions each time I'm in there and wish they'd go back to a more traditional system. Still, despite these issues I have to say that their food is still delicious, and a few items (like the famous creme brulee french toast) are downright sensational. It's definitely a place I'll continue to return to, but I just hope that next time the menus come back!

Pro Tip - come here on a weekday if you can. We were able to be seated right away - yay! Additional Pro Tip - MAPLE MILK. Sounds weird. If you like anything maple flavored, you will love this. No joke. We ordered the creme brulee french toast - it was amazing! Totally a great serving for two people - as long as you order something else to share. It was a little sweet so having something to cut the sweetness helped out a lot. We also got the biscuits and gravy (I have a thing for them) and they were good as well. Nice staff, good service, totally a place to check out if you can.

The place was very cute and cozy. The waitress was very nice. My husband had the creme brulee French toast and it was incredible. We also had the omelette and farmers breakfast which were very good. The coffee was very yummy. I'm so happy we found this place. I'm so tired of paying for overpriced garbage at restaurants in Nj so this was a refreshing treat.

We came here for breakfast when we stayed at Smugglers Notch Inn. We got a credit from the inn towards breakfast here. It took about 20 minutes for us to be seated. It then took another 10 minutes for them to take our order. They seemed a little disorganized here. It took another 30 minutes for our food to arrive. They had some pastries and cupcakes sitting on a counter when you first walk in. They also had pastries in side of a case. My concern is with the pastries that were were sitting out on dishes and there wasn't anything covering them. I saw lots of flies landing on them, which is frankly pretty gross. This alone knocked my review from 3 stars to 2 stars. The food was okay, nothing special in my opinion. I frankly wouldn't have come back after the first day we ate here but since this place is literally next door to the inn we came back again... I also wanted to give it another try based on all the good YELP reviews.

I'm sorry - my five stars may be a bit exuberant, but I've only been in Vermont a month, and am starting to understand the difference between 'good' food and 'GOOD' food. This place is well above average, and the prices are decent. I got a $9 'beet and kale hash' breakfast with perfectly poached eggs and homemade bread. Lovely meal. The seating was a bit 'meh' and I was utterly confused by the bathroom situation, but I'm planning on definitely going back again to try some of the amazing stuff on the menu. Pumpkin waffle, anyone? Bacon-wrapped figs? Yes please. My partner got blueberry pancakes, and I think they served three gigantic cakes on his plate, each one about 3/4" thick and 7" in diameter. Well worth the prices, and a nice enough staff. They let us split our bill on two cards with no hassle whatsoever, which, in this day of rising credit card fees, is a nice addition.

GREAT place for brunch and the bottomless cup of coffee was to die for. We particularly loved the hash - they even make a vegetarian version. Get the grilled muffin as a side! It is delicious and of course, the Creme Brulee French Toast. Too bad its all of the way in upper Vermont (we are from NYC) but if we are ever in the area again, we'll definitely be headed back there.
(5)Mollie B.
Extremely good food and extremely great service. I had the creme brulee french toast and so did my sister. Only thing is - I wish they mentioned beforehand (or on the menu) that it came with blueberries because she is allergic to them. I also recommend the huevos rancheros and the BLT.
(4)Evan L.
This is my new favorite breakfast spot and worth the drive! The bacon is nitrate-free, and everything has been great every time I've gone. I think the most decadent french toast I've ever had is their drunken blueberry french toast soaked overnight in creme brûlée batter. Try the huevos rancheros, which were also great and as a special treat, a brûléed half-grapefruit!
(4)Valerie A.
The Mix Cafe and Bakery has creative menu choices and excellent hearty Vermont favorites. Only downside is sometimes the slow or lack of service. This not the place to get a quick breakfast but a place I would return to.

This is a pretty good place to use as my 200th review: like 158 Main around the corner, The Mix is just a genuinely good Vermont eatery. Tucked around the back of an inn, you walk into a rustic bakery, with a couple seats next to the register facing into the open kitchen. If you want to sit at a table or booth, they will seat you in a small dining room with beautiful wooden walls and floor. We stopped in for lunch, although we saw at least one person order the pumpkin waffles, which I will have to try next time, they smelled delicious. The soup was good, and the warm orzo salad was excellent. My Vermont ham sandwich with red onion chutney/jam (surprisingly mellow and sweet) was outstanding. In fact, pretty much everything any of us ordered was good or excellent, and we found the service to be perfectly fine given how busy they were. All in all, another great option for good local food around Smuggler's Notch!

I love this place. My wife has some strange Vermont obsession which i was begrudgingly roped into and then came to love like a good step child. Of everything I love about VT, breakfast at The Mix became one of the best. The food is fantastic, reasonably priced and they are super kid friendly (no small thing when you're shepherding an exacting 20 month old along with your hunger). Must Have- The Creme Brulee French Toast. It should be illegal, but since VT is all about libertarianism, it never will be. They also had some seasonal grilled cheese with figs that was one of the best things ive ever had, even cold and congealed on the way back to the airport. Point is, just go and eat things there.

The Mix was one of the major highlights of our stay in the Smugglers Notch area. Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was perfect! People complain about the service being slow but you are in Vermont, sit back relax, and enjoy, the food is worth it! There was only one server during our visit, she was very friendly, a little overwhelmed but she always took the time to check on us and was constantly moving and on the go. We decided to sample their famous Creme Brulee French Toast and the Huevos Rancheros. The presentation on both plates was perfect - the French Toast was made using their freshly baked sourdough, thick, moist, and soo flavorful, honestly the best French Toast we have ever had! The Huevos Rancheros was also seasoned and cooked perfectly, the mix of eggs, cilantro, beans, cheese - delicious! Our only regret was not eating their everyday during our stay! When we are back in the area The Mix will be our first stop! Highly Recommend!

We really enjoyed our lunch sandwiches and salads here. We did take-out and brought it back to our place at Smuggs. It took a long time to get the food--- about 30-40 minutes --- but it was 5 or 6 sandwiches and salads and I came at the height of lunch rush. The sandwiches and salads were interesting, seasonal, fresh, delicious, and, for lack of a better word, cool. The cinnamon bread slices were outstanding. We keep trying to find a time to go back again for lunch. Definitely try it out! This place is about a 10 minute drive from Smuggs.
(4)Jimmy M.
This is my go-to aprés after a morning at Smuggs. They often have a couple omelet specials to choose from, but can run out of ingredients later in the day (the fresh pastries also run low towards late morning). Don't be scared off by the [market] price on the menu, the specials are reasonably priced. If you get an egg dish, spend the extra dollar on the local eggs, and ditto for extra VT maple syrup. The taste is worth it. There's always plenty of coffee, and the homemade jam is a great and delicious touch. The lunch side of the menu has some imaginative salads and other light-ish items. A lot of the items on the menu can also be made vegetarian, which is a huge bonus. A note to vacationers, don't come here if you're trying to make a lesson at the mountain in 40 minutes (sorry to eavesdrop) or if you have a large group - there's only a few tables and in season, there can be a line for them. The service can also be a bit inconsistent, especially when they're packed, and the kitchen is small so food can also take a while. It's worth the wait if you're not in a rush.
(5)Amanda F.
My boyfriend and I stopped for breakfast here on a day when Smuggler's lifts were closed due to high winds. The small place became crowded during our visit because of the non-ideal ski conditions. We were immediately greeted and instructed to seat ourselves. Our meals (huevos rancheros and the creme brulee french toast) came out fast and were piping hot and delicious! I enjoyed the open environment and the fact you can watch your meals being prepared. The french toast was amazing (a sign said it was rated as the best in VT) and my boyfriend said his meal was nothing short of great. The only downfall was the sudden crowd of people vs. the one and only waiter. This caused for some delay in our drink refills and getting our check. But, the quality of the food easily made up for this fact. Our breakfast here was by far the best meal we had all weekend. We will be back again!
(4)Baruch K.
They lost their main chef and the place has gone down hill- the food is still good but the flavors and quality are not there. The place was 5 star a year back. The current chefs are cocky and don't put out quality food. I've gone back 3 times since the old chef left and have been unimpressed. Too expensive so I guess I'm going back to 158 main until things change.
(2)Joshua S.
We stayed at the Smugglers Notch Inn and were pleasantly surprised to find a breakfast place/bakery on the first floor of the B&B in the morning. Amazing food, awesome staff, and incredibly convenient!
(5)Morty M.
solid breakfast/brunch fare. coffee is ALWAYS cold, though of decent quality. prices are mid to high but often local ingredients and always fresh. portions are medium (not good for sharing). menu has good inventive uses of seasonal produce.
(3)Liz S.
The Mix is great! I love getting The Basic breakfast. I rarely order eggs at breakfast joints because I fairly particular about how they are cooked and every time I have been here they cook them perfectly. The bread is really good. Their BLT is really great as well. The servers are attentive and friendly, which I have not always experienced in this town. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice breakfast or lunch.
(4)Allegra C.
Tasty, interesting, locally grown concotions. The new place to be in the Jeff'ville region.
(5)Lauren G.
Holy bruncharoni! This place was wonderful, and perhaps unforgettable. Please read on. Food: I love when a brunch spot upgrades old favorites to very special dishes. For example, my dining mate enjoyed the beet and kale hash, which was topped with two poached eggs, and accompanied with homemade rye bread. I had the lox, chevre, and spinach omelette (topped with a caper aioli sauce), accompanied by homemade wheat toast and perfectly cooked hash browns. The jam does not come in little plastic disposable squares, rather in cute glass jars that make you feel like home (without the stickiness from your laziness). The water was served in mason jars, and the coffee was locally roasted and plentiful! After ordering and before the food arrived, we were a bit unsure if we should have ordered something sweet (e.g. créme brûlée french toast, pumpkin waffles, pancakes with local syrup), but after the meal we were definitely too pleased about our meals to have any second-thoughts. Service/Ambience: We came in the first day of our vacation to check out the place, but we did not stay. However, we returned the second day to eat and Krista[?], the waitress, welcomed us with a smile and an "Oh, welcome back!" The dining area is connected to the main entrance area, but separated enough to not be distracted by customers who stop by for a quick pastry or cup o' joe (to be honest, most people seem to like the place and stay for a while). We sat at the wooden table on cozy wooden benches, and felt so much "at home" that we stayed for two hours, with the waitress never making us feel like we were overstaying our welcome. In fact, when were on our way out, they were even glad to give us the phone number of Smugglers Notch, the local ski resort, to check on the cross-country ski conditions. Krista was always there with more water, coffee, and cream (I sometimes feel embarrassed sometimes at restaurants when I have to ask for more!). The food took a bit of time to come, but we were on vacation, so that was a non-issue for us. In total, The Mix is one of the best brunch spots we've been to: original dishes with fresh and local ingredients, super reasonable prices, and top tier service. Some of the best of Vermont all in one place.
(5)Greg O.
It's not often I give ANYTHING 5 stars, but this is the only place I have breakfast when in town. I haven't had their famous creme brule French toast, but I can vouch for the Huevos Rancheros (with chorizo, of course)-simply the best I have ever eaten. Oh, and don't forget the bacon-wrapped dates! All good, fresh ingredients and none of the grease associated with breakfast food...There is a reason you can see all of the locals stop to fuel up on their way to the mountain-best food, fair prices, and friendly staff.
(5)Libby H.
I loved The Mix! I had to take away one star for less than stellar service on our first trip (i.e., we waited for 10 minutes before our presence was even acknowledged; then, we went without knives after asking 3 times). However, with that being said, the food is outstanding. We visited on two occasions, and ate the following dishes: egg sandwich (good); the basic with ham (very good); portabella Napoleon (very good); peach ginger waffle (outstanding); caprese sandwich (very good); lox & bagel (great); and, French toast (out-of-this-world). So, as you can see, our "worst" dish was good, and the best was out-of-this-world; accordingly, as a group of foodies from NYC, The Mix comes highly recommended! Can't wait to visit again next year!
