We visited with a group of 20 and our server did a very good job of handling the group. Dinner took a long time, but that is expected with so many folks. Most of the food was very good, hot and plentiful when served. I had the pork chimichanga and it was excellent. Deep fried, hot inside but not overloaded with spices. Appetizers were good, we had several, but I enjoyed the poppers. We have several food allergies in the group and they were very accommodating. WARNING: the chips contain wheat, so if you have a gluten intolerance, stay away. That got one of our group. Margaritas were pretty good. The room were were in was ok, but warm as there was no A/C and it was a warm evening. Bathrooms were gross. I hate that, makes you wonder what the kitchen is like. Overall they were 3.5 stars but I rounded up because of how hard the server tried.

If you are in the mood for a fresh Margarita while vacationing at Smuggler's Notch Vermont, or you're a local resident with a craving for a burrito, this is the place to go! With an incredible variety of Mexican foods (i.e. everything from fajitas to chimichangas), and an assortment of creative, original cocktails and local beer options, this place is sure not to disappoint! Very kid friendly, and they even have karaoke on Thursday nights, as well as local bands playing on Saturday nights! Service is Definitely a spot to try if you haven't yet! P.S. They make a mean "Tavern Bistec" (STEAK!)

El Stinko! Nothing good to say here. Had the shrimp, tiny. No flavor. Every dish tasted the same. Dull! Went with a party of nine and not one person was happy with their meal. The service was slow and not exactly friendly.

The burrito I got was fantastic and the other three people in my party all enjoyed their food. Waitress was very friendly and attentive too.

Salt! I don't eat much salt but Everything needed salt except for the chips which were too salty. I got the carnita tacos with rice and beans. The meat was terrible dry with no flavor and the rice was bland. I thought that I would give this place a second chance but both times I was very dissatisfied. The fish tacos are way too battered and had sweet pickled cabbage all over. Not the best flavor combo.

After the waitress showed us to our table, she completely forgot we existed. The only time she stopped by our table was to give 3 glasses of water to our table of 4.... After 20 minutes the waitress hadn't even taken our drink order so we had to leave. Chips and salsa weren't bad though.

I think my husband makes better Mexican food at home. I would not recommend this restaurant - shocked that it is rated 4 stars. The salsa is canned tomato sauce with hardly any flavor. No chillies or cilantro anywhere! Chips were way too salty. Fajita was average. The portion was way too small for the price. Enchilada was interesting. Can't say I am a fan of the chicken tinga though. Only creative thing we tried was the tres amigos. Finally, they will nickel and dime you for the chips and salsa. We asked for an extra serving of (over-salty) chips and salsa and they charged $3 extra. I mentioned it to the lady at the register. She didn't care. Never have I been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't have endless chips and salsa. Very tacky and disappointing. Guacamole also had no flavor. I don't know who the chef is, but this place doesn't come anywhere close to an authentic Mexican restaurant. Use some fresh tomatoes, chilies, salsa and garlic, please! And serving black beans out of the can is not ok. No flavor and odd texture. Frustrating!

This place was amazing! Some of the best Mexican outside the southwest. Get the guac.

Great Mexican meal in the NE United States. Had the shrimp cocktail, the guac, both were excellent. Had margaritas and can give two thumbs up. For dinner the carne asada was great. This place has some negative reviews which I think are unfounded. We had a great time and are glad we chose the place.

Worth the drive from Smuggs! Only a few minutes away. Good Mexican, nice area for pool and darts and food! Recommend!

We were really excited about this place when we found out it replaced el Zoro. We thought the chips were amazing! We couldn't stop eating them! But the guacamole was not very good. A little too spicy for my taste. The food took a while to come, and when it finally came everything was very spicy. The service was very friendly though. My steak was fine... I don't know if we will be back any time soon.

I was recently in town with friends on a ski trip and stopped in. I loved this place. The Jack Sticks were legit and we had a great time. Beat all the boys in darts and pool :)

The queso fundido is AMAZING and the chalupa chips that come with are like nothing you've ever tasted. I got the crab enchiladas too, and they were delicious as well. The atmosphere is pretty cool, very laid-back. I would definitely go again!

Went there on a Saturday night, was greeted quickly but told to wait for seating because they had reservations coming in, the place was not even half full...that was my first issue... the food was mediocre at best, and the service was horrendous. They had a bartender serving us, so she was hardly there to refill drinks or bring anything needed. Also watch for their up charges, we were offered a sauce to add to our enchiladas when the bill came they charged us extra even though we assumed it came along with the meal.

Went here for dinner on a Thursday (bonus karaoke night!). The service and food were awesome. I really enjoyed my fish tacos. The portions are very generous, so plan on leftovers. The sweet/salty chips are a great start to the meal. The drinks are also delicious and the tequila selection is extensive. I hope to become a regular.

One of the best margaritas I have had in Vermont. The queso fundido was amazing too!

My family came here for dinner, the tuna tacos were great! The kids had a blast there is a pool table and a foosball table for them to play with while the food came. It was a great experience. We will be going back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
