Wife and I had dinner here while staying up at Jay for the weekend. Their lack of having anything decent open this time of year led us to this great place down the hill. Really should get better about taking pics, but the nacho pic someone took before actually made us try it. We went with the cheese and salsa version. That salsa is one of the best we have ever had. Having spent a majority of my life in so-cal, that's saying something. With that said, we also did the BBQ plate & filet tips. All items were good, in addition to the bread and dipping sauce which I thought was top notch. Great place in the middle of nowhere. Deserves to be busier then it is. So good that we went back for breakfast and had the awesome biscuits and gravy, while the wife had one of the skillets. If you're in the area, go here. You won't be disappointed.

Delicious food, large portions, good atmosphere. Service was also quite good. Nothing bad to say about this place really. I had the ribs and they were delicious. My only comment is that this is definitely more toward the $$$ mark. Most entrees are in the $20-35 especially if you order of the 'specials' menu. If you add a drink per person, tax, and tip, you should probably expect to be closer to $40 per person than $30.

Great place to stop after a day on the slopes. Right down the road from jay peak (across from the gas station)...you'll miss the long lines and high prices that you'll see at the main resort area..food is always cooked to perfection & the service is awesome! Portions are huge, you can split mostly anything on the menu. I recommend the nachos, chicken caesar salad, the BLT, or any of the pizzas...but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! ENJOY!

Not too fancy, always great food. Love the sweet potatoe fries and the ribs. Great chili too, and the tomatoe/mozzarella salad... They always have interesting specials too.

Beautiful summer day and we sat by the pool so kudos on ambiance. I had the chicken sandwich which was a good 4" deep so there was no way to fit it in my mouth so had to eat with a knife and fork. The Chipote bread was too tough to cut with a knife. The grilled chicken was tasty. But it came with generic stuffing and cranberry sauce and cheese and bacon. Service was so slow it was an hour from the time we arrived till we were served. I give her points for pleasantness. I ordered the maple cream brûlée and that was really weird. It was just vanilla pudding with the expected topping and cost $7. Wish I could give this a 2.5 review.

We were staying at Jay Peak resort for 5 days during President's week and wanted to try some of the local places rather than just eating at the resort. We are here for lunch on the second day and liked it so much we came back for dinner a couple of nights later. Highlights from lunch: - Buffalo wings: nice and large and very tasty - French dip sandwich - very tasty and good size - Caesar salad with steak (my daughter wanted steak! Go figure); HUGE size. Could have been appetizer for 3 or 4 people Not as good from lunch: - Mussels Milano: it was ok but too much cheese and sauce and not enough mussels. To make it worse, 3 or 4 of mussels had not opened at all so we did not eat them Highlights from dinner: - Buffalo wings (so good, we had to have them again) - 40oz porterhouse special: perfectly cooked. - Nachos: HUGE and delicious. Ask for extra salsa. Will definitely come back here if we go to Jay Peak again!

I like this place, will definitely return the next time I'm in town. The ribeye steaks, ribs, and pizza were all good. My only criticisms were that my steak was ordered 'rare' and it came 'medium'. Also I would not order the bleu cheese version of the steak unless you are prepared for a steak that is completely drowning in bleu cheese, a bit overboard. All sides were excellent including asparagus, garlic mash potatoes, garlic bread, and house salad with an excellent house horseradish peppercorn dressing. Finally, the hot fudge brownie sundae was awesome and huge, highly recommended (strawberry sundae, nothing special).

Definitely one of the better spots to eat in Jay. It came highly recommended by two locals, and lived up to expectations. The server was excellent, and we enjoyed the food. We only had apps, but I would get an entree next time. The menu is a little pricey, but that is typical up here. (If you want to eat on the cheap, bring sandwiches!)

Went here for dinner at the end of our snowboard/ski trip. Totally random stop, but the Yelp reviews pushed us through the door. This restaurant is cozy with a ski lodge theme. The service was friendly and our waiter provided good suggestions. Here are mine: 1. Don't get the steak. Mine was overcooked slightly. The meat quality wasn't great, but then again, it's a $26 ribeye so I couldn't expect top quality steak. Nonetheless, you might be more happy with something from Outback. 2. Do get the ribs. A half rack is a huge portion, but get a full rack if you have a humungous appetite. The meat falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. Absolute must get here. 3. Don't get the nachos. The portion is huge so it's good if you want something to munch on for an appetizer, but the entrees come out relatively quickly so you can probably skip having such a large appetizer to begin with. 4. Try the horseradish ranch for the salad dressing. If you like ranch and horseradish, you'll like the combo. Ask about the wing challenge. If you finish these super duper hot wings in 10 minutes, you get a t-shirt and a picture on the wall. You will leave full and satisfied here, especially if you order the ribs.

JVI is a cute cozy place to eat and they had an acoustic singer. As for the food, it's just ok. We got the Buffalo Wings as an appetizer and they make their own sauce. I like the traditional Buffalo Wings sauce so even though the wings were meaty and appealing, the flavor was not what we were expecting and we didn't enjoy them. Plus the $14 price tag was a little steep. All of the portions were very large. I looked at other tables and their portions were large too, so if you're looking for volume, it's the place to go. For dinner, my kids got the pizza which was very large, but also very doughy. Being from NY, I like a thinner crust, crispy pizza. The taste was just ok. I got the Blackened Salmon which was a little salty but ok. It comes with a vegetable which was zucchini loaded with garlic and then a choice of carb. I got the roasted potatoes and it came with two medium sized white potatoes with the skin on that were basically baked potatoes. I was expecting peeled, diced and roasted potatoes that were crispy and tasty. These were baked, dry potatoes without butter. My husband got the Shrimp and Scallops. Portion was huge, but mostly linguine with 3 shrimp and 3-4 scallops. The sauce was alfredo. It was too cheesy and rich. Similar to what you would get in a TGI Fridays. We found the restaurant disappointing, but I'm a bit of a foody. Maybe we should have had the burger.

Went past this place the past couple yrs on our annual foray to Jay Peak - what a mistake. Comfortable, warm, classic VT decor - a perfect accompaniment to a perfect New England mountain. Options range from pub style to traditional inn offerings and are fresh made and tasty. Beer selection is somewhat limited but there are local offerings. A bit on the loud side, with lots of families/kids, so not a good option for a romantic dinner for two.

Awesome! Love it here! Great food, fantastic drinks! Huge fireplace! Warm, inviting place! New addition makes for plenty of room at the bar! We love Holly at the bar and JR in the kitchen, never miss a chance to stop in! It's where all the locals go!

We stayed here this weekend with a group of four. The place is really cool and comfortable. The rooms are nothing fancy, but perfect when you're just up there to ski. We (two couples) had rooms joined by a common bathroom, which was perfect. Now, the bar/restaurant... it's great. Breakfast was delicious and pretty cheap. Dinner was awesome, we were all raving about the food. As in, we were surprised at how good it was. I had a steak, it was huge and cooked perfectly. My girlfriend and my buddy's girlfriend both had the steak tips, they were pretty great too. We also had the mussels as an appetizer. A word of warning, the restaurant was packed in the evening, I think we got the one open table when we went. The service was excellent despite it being very busy. None of us finished our meals, the portions were huge. The bar was a good hang out too, we were there relatively late both nights. The staff and the owners were friendly and attentive, they seemed pretty happy with their jobs and that's always a good thing. We got some good advice on what to do at the mountain and in the surrounding area. All four of us would definitely go back.

First time to the area - we really appreciated the attentive service from the bartender/waiter/waitress at both the pool and the table. We were in town for three days and found ourselves at the JVI three times. Portions were more than generous and the food quality was REALLY good. Seriously, this was really good pub grub - the buffalo wings were about as good as I've ever had. Portions (dinner and breakfast) were generous to say the least, but not at the expense of quality. Whoever is doing the cooking here knows their stuff. Every meal we had here was top notch - even the garlic bread served with dinner was super fresh, clearly just baked and presented in a way we've never seen before. Really, really impressed.

Haven't stayed here, so review is only on the restaurant. Nice, cozy spot with big stone fireplace. Nice selection of local brews on tap. Food is pretty average. Nice spot to grab a beer and a bite while warming your toes after a day on the hill.

Great place to go after a day of skiing. The mussels milano are fantastic as are the bbq chicken wings. Just make sure not to try the ghost wing challenge, or else you will be facing the toilet for days to come.

Awesome place! I tried out the restaurant after a long day of skiing and was not disappointed. For some hearty food, this is the place to go. Us Canadians could not finish our plates- the portion size are HUGE! Seriously, there must be about a box of pasta for each order. I got the steak au poivre. It was cooked to my liking with garlic parmesen mashed potatoes and a side of broccoli on steroids. Everything on the plate was up to par with no fancy surprises. They made a mean French onion soup and if it is still available, do check out the scampi. They are the largest I've seen, very tender and well seasoned. We had a hilarious, very bored waiter who suddenly became very enthusiastic when describing the hot wing challenge. You get the hottest wings, have to eat 12 in 10 minutes and if you win you get a T-shirt and you're picture on their wall. Definitely have a gander at the "Wall of Flame". I have never seen a more amazing/wide range of facial expressions. The service was excellent considering this was for a table of fourteen. If you're in this neck of the woods, this is a place that will definitely satisfy your needs.

Food was very good. Accommodating to vegetarian needs and made a great veggie burrito which was not on the menu. The ribs we very good, fall off the bone and tasty. The bread and salads were surprisingly good. Will be back. Service was a bit slow but even with that an overall a+ meal and experience.

Long time reader, first time yelper. This was the BEST snowboarding restaurant experience I have ever had. There is nothing more satisfying than a nice filling steak dinner after a hard day on the slopes. First I had the chili. It was much bigger than even the larger bowl portions at any restaurant I have ever been to, stacked to the brim with chunks of beef, sour cream, crispy tortilla chips. On another day this could have served as a meal on its own, but not this day. Instead of each getting a half rack of ribs, my friend and I shared a full rack since it was so much cheaper. What we didn't expect was that the rack was ginormous, juicy, fall off the bone meat. I also had a taste of the delmonico cut of steak and it was delicious as well, on part with some of the well known steak restaurants in NYC. Not to bash, but dinosaur bbq ribs did not hold a candle to these. All in all this was a fantastic restaurant experience, and far more satisfying than many restaurants I've been to where the bill has been twice as much. If you go snowboarding at jay peak even if you don't stay here, stopping by here for a cheap, hefty portioned dinner that will leave you well satisfied is a must!

Appetizers were generous proportions. Lobster bisque was hearty and a meal in itself to the point that my wife reconsidered and cancelled her main course meal. The bisque was not too rich and had plenty of lobster and it didn't taste processed or made for the masses. We also ordered the trout bruschetta. Not anything out of the ordinary with that order, but the bread was a little on the soft side and the trout was bland. Again the portion was very generous. The steak Oscar was excellent. The sauce was not too rich and the crab did not over power the flavor of the steak. I asked for medium and it was more on the done side, but it was acceptable and delicious. Service was slow and it detracted from the experience. It didn't seem like our server really cared for us but appeared to be more attentive to the other patrons. I want to give a higher rating, but service matters.

About as well as you can do for dinner in this area, and their steaks are thick and hearty. They will, however ask that you cross the street and go to the Cederdale Tavern if the rowdy women you meet there begin to belt out 80's rock ballads.

I've been known to haunt the JVI on late saturday night's throughout the winter. They have some good food, at decent prices. Sweet potato fries and burgers were delicious. They have decent fries too, and some people like their pizza, though I'm not so into it. But really you come here for the atmosphere - laid back, comfy, homely, cabin-esque with good people. 100% snowmobile accessible.

Food tasted great, a lot better than I would have normally expect so far away from any major city. The portions were large, I had to take two to-go containers with me. Prices were on par with mid range Manhatten places but so much cheaper and better than the food at the ski lodge.

I stayed at Jay Village Inn once before, and we decided to book again because of the convenience. Keep in mind - I am not reviewing the stay itself, as we did not end up returning. I am just reviewing their customer service. When I called to book a few days before our stay, it was like asking someone out on a date and it went really well. I called and asked if there was any availability (after being turned down by 3 other hotels). They replied that yes they were available and in turn asked me questions - i.e. my credit card number, and voila! Room booked. Skiing weekend - here I come. I called later that day to tread the waters a bit, and asked what their cancellation policy was. The girl I spoke to said there would be a $35 dollar fee. The next day, I got cold feet (i.e. something better came along - Hotel Jay), and I called that morning to cancel. Well - let's just say - the break up didn't go nicely. When I spoke to a gentleman on the phone who I'm pretty sure I booked with the day before (distinctive voice), he informed me that they would charge me for my full stay. Hold up buddy, I said (Not in those words - obvi.) I told him how I called and spoke to someone, and that also on the email confirmation I received the day before that there was no mention of the cancellation policy. He in turn replied, "Well it wasn't me you spoke to and that it is our policy to inform all our guests that their cancellation policy requires a 30 day notice." I informed him that no one informed when I booked my room over the phone and it wasn't in the email receipt. He repeated their policy, like a robot and responded, "Well we tell everyone our policy when we are on the phone." I then asked, "Why they didn't tell me and why it wasn't on my email confirmation." And he said it should be. I again stated that it wasn't. And he again repeated that it was their policy to inform the customers while booking of the cancellation policy. I told him again, well no one informed me, and he just repeated the same clause again...and again. Finally, I decided it was no use talking to the robot, so I took an alternative root - a good friend - my credit card company. WIth no such clause on the email receipt and no cancellation policy on their website, I knew it wouldn't be a problem, but the fact that the "gentleman" I spoke to implied that i was lying about not knowing about the cancellation policy, and then hung up on me after I wasn't in agreement - really rubbed me the wrong way. If you want to give your patronage to an establishment that actually cares about the customers or has any integrity then don't go here.

Great place to grab a beer and meal after a full day of skiing at Jay. My family and I ski Jay Peak every weekend through the winter, and we make at least one trip to the JVI each of those weekends. Great food and friendly staff. My favorites, and recommendations, include the Mussels Milano, Nachos and BLT. If you're looking for a heavier meal the Steak au Poivre, Rack of Lamb and Delmonico are big sellers. The steak doesn't sound big enough for your appetite? They let you add-on by the ounce. Warning - the Ghost Wing Challenge can debilitate you for days!
(5)Casey D.
The food was good and reasonably priced. I was surprised about the quality and amount of food given - both were supberb! 911 wings were great and the French onion soup was perfect!
