Awesome little B&B tucked away in rural VT. Phenomenal value. Our room, which was across the street from the main inn, was huge, clean, and very comfortable. The pub attached to the inn had just amazing food, super friendly workers, and fun vibe. Definitely have to thank them for accommodating my wifes gluten allergy in everything we had. Then breakfast, that is included with the room rate, was a full on huge breakfast. Not just your run of the mill continental. Be sure to stop at the front desk and get day passes to grafton pond for snowshoeing, x-country skiing, etc. The wife and I will surely return! Thank you so much Grafton Inn for the fabulous stay!

My now husband and I eloped at the Grafton Inn. I wrote a super detailed blog entry about it here if you'd like to read it, and I have a lot of pictures: dreamsinyellow.com/wordp… My mother found out about the Grafton Inn from doing research on bed and breakfasts to elope at. She got in touch with Angela Hartford, their sales and event manager, and my mom set up a weekend to go and visit. One weekend in January we visited it together, stayed the night, ate the food there, spoke with the event coordinator, and we were sold. In one visit we told her the colors to use for my bouquet: yellow and white, what flavor cake and icing: chocolate cake with vanilla icing, what style of officiant: non-religious, which room we would hold the ceremony in: the greenhouse of the breakfast room, and the date: March 20th, 2013. The Inn was quiet and relaxing, and my favorite part was choosing and eating breakfast there in the morning. When we came back in March the snow was falling like crazy, but it just made the Inn look even more beautiful. We basically had the entire place to ourselves that weekend, which made things just really special and romantic. The staff were all so kind, and they really seemed like they were just genuinely super happy for us to be getting married. One really great thing was that me, my husband, my mom and her husband don't drink, so in their elopement package they allowed us to substitute the champagne for sparkling apple cider (my favorite!) and not all places will do that, trust me. They brought us out a sparkling cider toast for right after we said "I do", kept it flowing all evening, and had a bottle in our room with our gift basket. Also, because Angela said that cider was less expensive than champagne she put the extra money into my bouquet, which she didn't have to do. I really can't emphasize enough how this place, and this location will just make you feel like you're in a different, wonderful world. We got our marriage license right across the street at this amazing historic building, and got our license from a lady named Kimberley RECORD, can you believe it? How perfect is that? Also walking down to the general store, which looks like it's right our of the past, and to the covered bridge, it's just a beautiful dream. If you go while it's snowing like we did, you come back in all cold, and you can warm up by one of their two fireplaces in the lobby, and help yourself to the warm complimentary coffee and chocolate chip cookies. I really enjoyed the food that had there both nights. The first night I had my favorite: mussels, and for my wedding night I had lobster pot pie, which I'd never even heard of before, and I loved all of it. They made our wedding cake as well, and I am a very picky cake person, and I was just blown away. The vanilla icing was the perfect amount of sweet and had that kind of almost crisp taste to it when you first bite into it, which I love, and then cake was chocolate, and was thick, and moist, and just really flavorful. We saved a piece like you're supposed to for one year in the freezer, and ate it on our anniversary, and it was still just as good! Breakfast both days was just as good as when my mom and I went to visit the first time, really tasty and generous portions. The waitress there figured out that we liked lots of the natural sugar, so she would always bring us over extra packets. Our room was a suite, so we had a large bathroom with a huge, white claw style tub, a living room, and bedroom with a canopy style bed. Really, really nice and cozy. When we first arrived there was a wooden gift box (branded really nicely with their name, which I kept and it a great souvenir) filed with treats: the sparkling apple cider like I mentioned before, their homemade cheese, a cheese knife, jams, crackers, and cookies. A great staff, a great place, and a great time. :)

A total gem that embodies small town Vermont and New England!! My husband and I recently went to stay at this inn for Valentine's Day weekend and we had a phenomenal time. I have to admit there were a few hiccups while booking the inn - but they were rectified and our extremely positive experience made up for the aggravation. Rooms: We stayed in the main in and our room had a beautiful handmade King size bed. Although the inn and rooms were historical and rustic they were extremely clean, dust free and fresh. Our bed was very comfortable. When we checked in they had Grafton cheese and crackers for us and chocolates on our pillows! Food: We went to the phelps barn for dinner. The food was excellent!! We had a beet salad, calamari, and a burger. Everything was delicious. The breakfast that came with our room was also perfect. It was a sit down breakfast in the main inn where you could order an entree (eg omelette, bfast pizza, etc) and it came with muffins, toast and beverages. Although it was complimentary the service was fabulous and food was excellent and generous. Activities: The rooms come with free passes and rentals at Grafton ponds outdoor facility. And although my husband and I aren't the biggest outdoors people we decided to check it out. We ended up going snowshoeing and had a blast. They were friendly, helped us get fitted and had trails and trail maps. They also had cross country skiing, tubing and snow biking! The inn also had an event the evening of valentines. They had a pre fix menu in the main inn and an ice bar party at the phelps pub. We went to the ice bar party and for $30 per person got two drink tickets, a glass souvenir and a smores kit. They had a fire pit, heating lamps, DJ, local vendors with signature drinks - it was really fun. We hope they have this event again next year as it was a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day!! There is also a Grafton cheese shop with cheese tastings across the parking lot. For a tiny rural town we never felt bored. Pricing: the rooms might seem high for VT but if you enjoy the complimentary breakfast and passes to Grafton ponds it is well worth it!! Also if you have AAA tell them - they offer a 10% discount for AAA. Overall I cannot say enough good things about this place. We had an amazing time and we will be back! Looking forward to perhaps checking it out in the summer or fall. And hoping they have another valentines party next year!

The Grafton in is a lovely New England inn in Grafton Vermont that is spread out between the original inn and a bunch of old houses and other buildings. (The original inn also houses the Old Tavern - separate listing and is next to and owns Phelps Barn.) I started my interaction with the inn on the phone, booking a classic room. At the time of booking, I was asked if I wanted a king room, which I eagerly said yes for and was verbally confirmed for, however, upon arriving, we were shown to a queen room and when I asked about it I was told we'll just have to cuddle more. Well, okay. The room was nice and clean and simple but not amazing. It also had some of the trippiest wallpaper ever. We were not drinking in our room (or doing any drugs or anything for that matter), but if you looked at the wallpaper on the wall without anything breaking it up it does this creepy 3D effect. I'm not really complaining, as it created some fun imaginary stories, but it's worth noting. Excepting less than a handful of young couples who I'm guessing were up on the same deal we were, the clientele seemed to be mostly skiing families and retirees (much more of the latter). This, for me, was nice since we were there for a slow lazy weekend but if you're looking for a hip vibe with lots of younger groups be advised you won't find it here. The bathroom in our room was fine, but, strangely, there was a stool in the tub. I'm assuming this was there to accommodate the older clientele but it was a WICKER stool and when drying it dripped water that was far from clear. Interactions with staff was always friendly but other that our initial room inquiry (where we were completely shot down) we didn't require much so it was pretty much checking in and checking out and confirming breakfast times etc. Lodging at the inn always comes with a full country breakfast at the Old Tavern and the location, in general, is scenic and peaceful. If you're looking for a quiet getaway, this may be a great choice for you, just make sure you get all of your details confirmed in writing and if you have a room with our wallpaper (see photo), don't look at it too closely. :)

Extremely clean, affordable, historic, comfortable, quaint, friendly and accommodating! We stayed here for a place to stay but will make it a destination all by itself in the future. We stayed in a room with an absolutely beautiful and comfortable bed. Service was incredibly friendly. Awesome real breakfast not some crappy typical hotel breakfast. This place is quintessential Vermont and the town is beautiful and quiet.

The small village of Grafton is about as authentic Vermont as yoy can get. A general store, a pond, lots of great countryside and an equally authentic Grafton Inn. It has all the modern amenities, wifi etc (although no TV in the room), but the building dates from way back, is very well maintained and gives you the feel of being what Vermont was like 100 years ago. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is good basic stuff, and the breakfasts are generous. Something really different and highly recommended.
