Walking into the place, I had my doubts, as it looks like a dingy basement with a few grills. However, the food is out of this world. I had the Thai chicken sandwich, and while it was a little pricey at $10.25, it was amazing! Who would have thought that peanut butter, onions, pickles, mayo and chicken could make such a great flavor? The man who runs the place also makes the sandwiches, and he is friendly and willing to go over each sandwich with you. If you are looking for a great sandwich, this is the place to go!!! I have found my new favorite lunch joint.

This hole in the wall makes AMAZING sandwiches. I have been here twice and was amazing by the quality of the sandwiches. The owners and other sandwich makers are super friendly and will help you choose the variety of sandwiches. The owner puts a lot of work into the ingredients that goes into the sandwhiches. I got the Kimchi Sandwich both times and I was not disappointed. The owner makes their own kimchi, it is so flavorful! The inside is pretty dark and is filled with local artwork. This is a hidden gem and I'm glad my friends took me there!

I've had a lot of sandwiches in my day. A LOT. So I was excited to try this place, but still skeptical: open maybe 4 hours a day, pricey & cash only, the owner purportedly the soup nazi of sandwiches. I tried the Lebanese Lamb ($14). No idea what else would be on it, but I was told not to ask. When it was served up I thought it looked a bit small on 2 slices of bread. But one bite and HOLY &$!@! Best sandwich I have ever eaten, hands down. I still haven't eaten the other half. I'm still savoring the taste of the first half.

Went here after rave recommendations from my friend im visiting. I got the chicken thai sandwich and it didn't disappoint, the pickles were nice and crunchy, chicken was seasoned nicely, lettuce and onions were fresh tasting. The staff there seemed ok and theres a decent amount of seating though you may have to squeeze by the counter seats to get to it. There is a slight wait time to get the food, mine was maybe 10 min., but this was after the lunch rush, still a bit of a delay. Also though these sandwiches are delish, you're gonna pay for it..mine was a whopping $11 and change, no drink or chips or anything and they don't take card! It's not posted anywhere that I saw so be warned. I wish my friends would've mentioned that because I came up a little short, but they let it slide which was nice. If you want high quality sanwiches and a varied selection check it out. Just remember to bring cash and plenty of it.

A truly elevated sandwich experience. All other Cuban sandwiches will forever pale in comparison. So much love goes into the crafting of each sandwich. Prepare yourself for the 10-15 minute wait, this is not 7-11, you are in the company of culinary greatness. Let the photo tell you the rest.

This place is a hole in the wall & absolute gem. Order any sandwich and you won't be disappointed! He's a master sandwich maker!! Yum. Yum.Yum.

This place has the best sandwiches that I have ever eaten! So far my favorite is the Hungarian beef. If you are a picky eater, tell him what you like/dislike, and he will accommodate you. Your best bet is to ask what he recommends. CASH only. Expect to spend about $12 each and don't be in a big hurry.

Great sandwiches got the Iraq turkey with a little spin from jake (guy who made it) really great conversation with him. Good vibes and feel to it recommend for individuals and small groups

Unfortunately the person making the sandwiches does not wearing any sort of gloves or wash his hands between touching poultry steak or wine. I sat at the bar and watched him make two sandwiches. He didn't wash his hands before during or after. Instead he would touch a roll of paper towels.. Not even take one a run off the raw meat. Needless to say I shouldn't have eaten it but it cost $15 so I felt like I had to. Big mistake I got food poisoning and had to call out of work. Don't take your chances with this place

I had the Lebanese Lamb and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the Thai Chicken and we weren't very impressed. My sandwich was definitely the winner between the two. Flavor-wise, my sandwich deserves a 5 and my husband's deserves a 3. We were mostly disappointed with how seriously over priced these sandwiches were. Nearly $14 for mine and $11 for my husband's is a bit outrageous for us (and we're from Philly and used to paying city-dollar for food). All that said, I would return but only as a treat and not as an every week kind of thing.

This place by far has some of the best sandwiches ever! My friends and I tried 4 DIFFERENT sandwiches and loved each one. Our favorites were the Korean kimchi and Cuban pork. The Iraqi chicken had a unique flavor to it but was still great nonetheless. Each sandwich is made with care and love. The chef really takes his time to make it perfect each time. Expect to wait at least 15-20 minutes for your sandwich, or even longer. One thing to note is that they DO NOT take credit. They take cash only. Trust me, the sadnwichrs will be worth every penny!!

I really like this place. It's small and intimate and sort of reminds me of a cave. I find that the sandwiches are super fresh, succulent, and very much delicious! I would eat here every day if I could afford it. The four stars are because the place is fairly pricey, it's cash only, andddddd the menu is just a board with sandwich names and you have to ask what each sandwich is to figure out whats in it. But, it is worth more then one go so better stop in!

  • Josh J.

This place is crazy good, but slow as shit. I really don't know if it's it worth it! It's good...if you have enough patience of say 25 minutes, do it!

  • Phil D.

Great sandwiches! Unique and hand tailored. You know there's something special going on when the owner takes his time to make your sandwich personally. Good value for some great flavors. I've only tried about 4 different sandwiches here but they have all been great! I can't wait to try the rest! A very unique, eclectic atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out!

  • Cindy B.

Dark dingy basement location, surprisingly expensive. We ordered 4 different sandwiches. They brought 2 about 10 minutes after we ordered - we waited another 10-12 minutes for the second 2 sandwiches. No idea why there was a delay and no explanation provided. Be forewarned that they put mayonnaise on 3 of the sandwiches - unexpected, and since mayo creeps each of us out, it was not a welcome addition. Just ok.

It took my like 20 minutes to find this place hidden in an office park. I got a sandwich here. I had no idea what it was in this sandwich. Pork and kimchi? It doesn't matter. The sandwich changed my life. I feel like I can jump buildings. I can save lives. I can find love even? That sandwich was the answer to world peace.

  • Matt K.

This was probably the best sandwiches I've ever had, and the decor was fun. We got the Iraqi Turkey, Lebanese Lamb, and Jamaican Avocado with Turkey. The flavors were tremendous in all of them. The location is off the beaten path, but it worth the short walk from the downtown area. Additionally, it is located next door the Citizen Cider Cidery where they have a tasting flight. Great way to wash down the sandwich.

  • Jarah L.

Who knew chicken, pickles, onions and peanut butter could taste so good together?! This place is a real gem. The owner takes pride in his work and those sandwiches are made with love. It'll take a bit longer than you might expect, but the food is well worth it.

  • Jacquelyn P.

Best flipping sandwiches EVER!! No matter what you get you will not be disappointed! I'm working on trying them all, but I know I can always fall back on the Jamaican Avocado, Chinese Chicken or Thai Chicken. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy and the owner is just a really cool guy!

This is my second time here and I am getting addicted to these sandwiches! I was just here yesterday. I ordered the Iraqi turkey sandwich, kimchi sandwich, Cuban pork sandwich, and the Argentina sandwich. My friends and I split these sandwiches up I try each of them and all of them are very very good! Today, I ordered the Cuban pork sandwich. Each sandwich has a very distinctive taste. It's not like your normal vermont sandwiches like three brothers or red onions or like mizery loves company ( these are sandwich places). This place make sandwiches where you feel like you are in another world. So good!!! I will warn you that to the guy who makes the sandwiches really takes his time to make it. He makes sure you are getting the full quality!!!! The sandwiches are nice and hot. Cheese melting and again very distinctive taste. Also, this place only accepts CAsH! So if you plan on coming here you better bring cash! We also tried some Hanks root beer. It's banging! I would recommend you come here if you want to try sandwiches that can put you in another world! Also the art stuff in here is very interesting!

We ordered a Cuban and Greek Artichoke sandwiches. It took awhile to get them but they were both really delicious. We will go back. The inside is cool. Cuban was better than another in town and both are pretty great. Greek Artichoke had a lot of good flavors and artichokes. Check out the book like other people have suggested

  • Janel S.

Sandwhich for every craving I could have. Love this place! They only accept cash so be prepared. Sandwhiches are average size and are close to $10.

  • Heath W.

My wife and I like funky, unique places. We searched yelp and came across this one. Skeptical on a "sandwich place", we went while we were in town and left with the best memory. A very airy, fresh, intricate, delicious sandwiches. I honestly can't picture the quality of sandwiches getting better than this. Keep up the great work! The only reason that this does not get a 5, is because we did not see any description of the sandwiches. They all had great names, and I was curious on all of them. The owner and staff will graciously help you out if you ask, but I am just someone who would like to see every single option to feel confident I am spoiling exactly what my taste buds are craving at that time.

Hard to find... But also hard to find a sandwich this good. Got the Argentinian beef which was delicious-served hot, right amount of spice, crusty grilled bread, tasty pickles that cut the heat and add great flavor, topped w grilled onions. Highly recommended.

This is a quirky little place tucked away in a basement near Citizen Cider & nearly hidden. I had the Cuban sandwich, which was very good. However, the wait was about 45+ minutes from arrival to sandwich touchdown around 1pm and it wasn't even that crowded! The owner puts a lot of love into his sandwiches and it shows in the food. Just don't come here in a rush or you will lose your cookies! Cash only!

Have to agree...Ladislav makes the best panini sandwiches in town.

If you have found the place, you are already half-way to enjoying this place. Located in an odd industrial park on the back corner, near a postal service depot, it is definitely not the easiest place to locate. Atmosphere, like the rest of Burlington is laid back, (more on how this effects the food later). I imagine the owner (obvious from the huge portrait hanging in the restaurant) is an artist, if not through the food, by the artwork on the wall. The artwork is creative, but unique, and something you would want to hang on your wall, there are different interesting books laying about the 10 or so tables in the restaurant. Make a point to get the doodle book and draw something. The food... It's a sandwich shop, but its a gourmet sandwich shop. Their is no listed ingredients next to any of the sandwich names (most require an explanation, which all staff are happy to do), but there is a good mix between meat and no meat. I ordered a German pork and sauerkraut sandwich and my wife the lamb special. My sandwich was good and hers was great. The sandwiches are the type that you would build at home if you had 50 ingredients prepped and ready for building, and a sandwich press to melt them all together. The German pork, could have benefited from more slaw, but it was thick cut pork loin, not deli sliced, with spicy mustard, and some other odds and ends (I just ordered it without asking what is in it. Service is genuine, but not what you would call attentive. It is definitely laid back as I mentioned before, but there is an objective (though that's not even the right word) to it. They make sandwiches with no rush, which adds to the taste and the concept of food being an art (Rome wasn't built in a day). If there are more than 6 people in the restaurant already expect to wait at least 15-20 mins for your sandwich (but the art and things around you will keep you occupied, or a conversation with the staff. There are chips in bags, beverage coolers, and a couple of beers on tap, as well as some cookies for desert. It is a bit pricey, but if you believe in the concept of food art and not subway you will be obliged to pay ($10-$15 for a sandwhich... lunch for two, with sandwich, chips, cookie, beer and water for each of us was $60+ total) IT IS CASH ONLY, AND AN ATM IS ABOUT A 15 MINUTE WALK ROUNDTRIP!!!!

It's been almost a year but I still dream about their sandwiches. I believe I had the Iraqi turkey. Delicious beyond words. The owner was very attentive and managed to train a new staff member at the same time. We walked from downtown Burlington and just about missed this gem tucked into a corner ... Cookies, drinks, chips... Cash only.

I love Four Corners of the Earth! It's a great little sandwich shop thats tucked away - A true treasure. Sandwiches with a heart. A real "hole in the wall" but great pork with sauerkraut - delicious, warm and satisfying. Very low key! Worth the trip for something slightly different.

I can't believe it. I wholeheartedly cannot believe what just happened to my friend and I. Me and this poor SOB Mike are standing at the bar ordering our sandwiches from this man. He didn't even get to us for about ten minutes. That was 50 minutes ago. I'm sitting here looking around at all the weird art in the building an hour later and this man walks up to my table. TO CONFIRM MY ORDER. Yes sir I did order the steak special, yes sir my friend did order the Cuban pork. 1 hour ago, 60 minutes, 3600 seconds ago. I'm still sitting here, waiting patiently. There's a picture of a dismembered mangirl next to me. There's a genie staring me down. There's a weird old woman painting. There's a terrible painting of a trench and a naked person, there's a naked person. Someone come into this place and kill me. I'll be here for approximately 1 more hour. Never come here. If I could rate this place less than 1 star I would.

One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Easily in the top ten. What makes the place so amazing is not only the food but the ambiance and the proprietor. It is in the basement of a nondescript industrial building yet the walls are filled with amazing art. A lot of thought went into the interior design and it shows. I really just appreciated being in there checking all the paintings out. My girlfriend and I talked to the owner for over an hour as we sat at the bar. He is a true character and well worth talking to. Very funny and with a unique outlook on life.

  • Paul A.

In basement of a nondescript industrial building was found our single best epicurean adventure. Four Corners of the Earth is a foodie's revelation with angelic sandwiches and heavenlyTurkish coffees. Down to earth now - the food was terrific as follows: Danish Egg, creamy & deviled with paprika, provolone and spices from the middle east on fresh baked bread. Peruvian Polenta, lettuce, tomato, red onion, chipotle spices, avocado and pepper jack on fresh baked bread. Shanghai Seitan, Asian slaw, lettuce, tomato, onion on pannini pressed bread. Curried American Tuna, w/ pickled red onions, lettuce & tomatoes on toast, and finally - Sicilian Eggplant with aioli mayo, lettuce and resh baked toasted bread. Atmosphere is eclectic and inviting and the sandwiches are made with love. The owner, Latzo is tough on the outside and sweet on the inside. Great experience in Burlington, VT. A must see and do

Cool little place in the basement of a large building. The decor is nice. The sandwices are good and I like the various styles they offer. A little pricy for what you get and I think they use too much Mayo on the sandwiches. Something different but it really did not taste that much different.

  • Jay L.

I've lived on 4 different continents, in 5 countries and 11 cities. As long as you have the time to wait (it can take 20 minutes to get your sandwich) this is the best sandwich shop I have found anywhere.

    (5)
  • Alaina P.

If you want excellent food cooked by "mom and pop" but in this case it's pop. Then this is your spot. Expect to wait a bit. It's all hand made in front if your eyes. But it's a great vibe and great to watch. Good people good food.

  • Sarah M.

I went back to Four Corners today for the first time in a while, and I remembered why I love this place. I had a Cuban Pork sandwich for the first time and it was even more delicious than the other sandwiches I have tried there! They seem to have an expanded selection of extras, like chips and cookies. Everything is still top-notch quality. Sure, it's a little pricey, but it's a worthwhile treat. Since the last time I was there, which was probably about 7-8 months ago, the decor has been updated. There used to be all kinds of creepy-but-cool-because-they-were-hipster knicknacks around, like weird Barbies and empty cans, but they've been replaced by more refined art. The seating has also been updated to classy black booths.

OMG this place is seriously a gem. I was passing through Burlington with my girlfriend and we only found this place because of yelp. It is located near a bunch of government offices and it's in a basement. There are no signs outside for it AT ALL. Who would have thought? It may take a little while to get your food, as there was only one gentleman working when we were there, but relax and enjoy the beautiful room this guy has set up. Paintings, books, and great music abound in this little alcove. We ordered the Caprese and the Jamaican Avocado -- both were absolutely delightful. Buffalo mozzarella was perfect. What a great spot! We'll be back!

  • Danielle I.

Without a doubt, the best sandwich you can get around here. Relatively cheap. The place is usually empty and the chef takes his time cooking but it is so worth the wait. I got kimchi pork sandwich, so good. Cool art and atmosphere, big picnic tables with nice sheepskin cushions. Every sandwich here is amazing.

  • Sophie R.

You know the Seinfeld episode? With the soup nazi? I guess this is like, the sandwich version. Whatever you end up with though, it will be a fantastic sandwich. Something with seitan was ordered. Whatever accompanied it between two slabs of bread was unreal. Yum.

  • Liz D.

DAMN IT the secret is out. Hands down one of the best sandwich places I have ever had the pleasure of dining at - repeatedly over the years, and I place I make a point to stop in on every occasion in Burlington. I dream about the Jamaican -- with Bacon. Israeli Turkey? Fabulous. So good. SO so so good. Quirky, cute place...nestled away from the bustle of those out of the know wandering around church street, stuck in line at the Red Onion... Damn, now you all know what we knew back in the day (2004-8). Please turn around, don't go here, you over crowd the place.

  • Meghan C.

I have mixed feelings. Very mixed. We came in here expecting a long wait, but to be honest, I thought the reviews claiming a 45-minute wait for a sandwich were exaggerating a bit. They're not. We waited one hour and five minutes for our Tuscan Proscuitto. One hour and five minutes for a sandwich consisting of proscuitto, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pesto. So was it worth the wait? Not really. Don't get me wrong, the sandwich was delicious, but for over an hour wait it better be effing AMAZING. It was really nothing innovative or special and the balance of ingredients was off with hardly any tomatoes or avocado. The sandwiches don't take that long to make, either. It's really the inefficiency of the ordering system that makes the process slow. You order, find a table to sit at. Wait a million years. Then the man behind the counter comes over when it's your turn and asks you to repeat your order again. After you repeat it, he goes back, prepares your sandwich, and brings it out to you. You eat it. And then you go up to the register and wait until the man gets a minute to come over and ring you out. Add one, just ONE additional employee during peak times and write down your customers' orders/have them pay when they order and the problem would be completely solved. Plus, while I understand that the "charm" of this place is its no-frills nature, poor service is not charming, it's just rude. We ordered hot teas with our sandwich and did not get them until our sandwich was prepared. It would have been nice if the man would have handed us our hot water and tea bags while we waited (for over an hour). He also refused to tell us what was on any of the sandwiches which is kind of annoying when you're a visitor and this is your only chance to try one! So yes, great sandwiches, but not incredible sandwiches. Maybe worth it for takeout if you order well in advance, but otherwise, just buy some fresh ingredients and make your own.

This place rules. The ambience is dimly lit, filled with original art and interesting knick-knacks and artifacts. They always have good wines in the fridge and the sandwiches are delicious and super original. Yes, it sometimes takes more than the American-expected Subway or Quizno turnaround time of 5 minutes but I personally don't see that as a reason not to go. The environment is so comfortable it ends up being a good excuse to chill out and reflect on the day. highly recommended!

Being from San Francisco, I am pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sandwiches here. The spices that come in the sandwiches are amazing. Bread is perfectly toasted. Although there was only one person working, which took a long time, it was well worth the wait. I had the Iranian turkey and the curry spread that came with the sandwich was a perfect touch.

I love this place. I took a photo of the sandwiches so I could remember. Here is a list of the ones on the board on 3/24/2012. I might have missed a couple. Call ahead this place is busy (802) 657-3869 . They technically open @ noon, but they were very nice to make sandwiches starting over 1/2 hour early. Otherwordly atmosphere. Great music and artwork on the walls. Sandwiches are good and there are a bunch to choose from. A little expensive for a sandwich and the wait is long, but they have a couple good options for draft beer and it is a nice place to hang out for a while.

I like to think I am a pretty normal human being. There is nothing normal about this place and that's generally not bad; in this case, I believe it is. I've been here 3 times, tried the Czech Chicken, Japanese Tuna, and something else, and they were all very good sandwiches. NONE of them were worth the ridiculous price they cost. Any Vermonter appreciates fresh, local ingredients, but I really don't want to pay $9+ for a sandwich ever. Three of us went in the other day and it took us 40 minutes to get a sandwich. One guy came in who had called in his sandwiches a half hour before. It was clear the owner hadn't even started them. There was only one other group in the shop and he was complaining about it being so busy. He also was out of EVERYTHING. We should have walked out the door when he was out of turkey and roast beef and offered to make us the Danish Egg sandwich with "just a hard boiled egg and lettuce". I expect no less from a man with a picture of pigs suckling at his own teets hanging on the wall of his establishment. The sandwiches are good, but the value, service, and overall uncomfortable feeling when you walk through the door makes this a soft 3.

    (3)
  • Bee C.

Like all sandwich places in Burlington, ordering and service is laid back at best. It is really unclear what you're ordering because they only list the name of the sandwich. the guy making it seems to make it up as he goes, when he's ready. They brought the sandwiches at different times, mine 20 minutes after everyone got theirs (it was a turkey sandwich). We tried to get the cuban pork, but they didn't have pork so they made it with roast beef which was okay. The prosuitto was good too. Their bread it excellent, they have a bunch of interesting sodas. The sandwiches are good, but the experience was a bit unorganized.

  • M S.

Love the food. Ladis is a very creative chef. He takes his time to make sandwiches but it is worth the wait. My faves: lamb, pork, salmon. Japapanese Tuna on avocado instead a bun is a nice salad variation (you have to ask for it). One star is off for the wait because you do need to double the time they said it would take to make your food. As long as you know this going in you will love it!

    (4)
  • Chloe C.

This place has amazing sandwich options, good ingredients, a cool place to sit & eat, and friendly staff. The only thing is the guy takes forever to make a sandwich! So maybe don't wait until you're REALLY hungry or you'll be blacking out before you even get to eat your amazing creation, or you'll snarf it down in mere seconds before realizing that the mouth-afterglow tastes really good & you just devoured a work of art. Spoken from experience.

Funky.. tasty.. good music... strong coffee.. What not to like? Oh, yeah, the wait *aka poor sense of timing* It would be hard to find equally good sandwich around though!

  • Alex R.

Might be one of the most unique and tastiest sandwich places I've ever been to! This place is a tiny hole in the wall tucked away in the corner of the building, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in taste! I had the Korean Kim chi one day and it was so good I had to come back the next day and try the Lebanese lamb (both were delicious) If I lived in Burlington I would try them all! I highly recommend this place! 5 star worthy taste just not as large a portion for the price. But I guess you pay for quality not quantity :)

  • Sherry Z.

Oh, this was hands-down the best sandwich I've ever had. I don't normally have an appreciation for sandwiches, but Four Corner's just has such a quirky mix of everything that I absolutely enjoyed it. The spicy pork one that I got was a bit dry, but delicious nonetheless. I think someone else got an avocado one that was also delicious. The price is a bit steep, but I mark it down to the restaurant showing me unique combinations of food that I now know make a delicious sandwich. Teach a man to fish right?

  • Jeremy B.

This place is a tiny sandwich shop in the south end of Burlington and the sandwiches at Four Corners are penom and extremely unique-- every sandwich is named after a country and 'loosely' influenced by that country! I have tried quite a few of their vege options, but consistently go with either the Greek Artichoke or the Jamaican Avocado (I prefer to have it grilled on the French bread but the sourdough is also good). The crowd is almost entirely a local bunch since it is a bit off the beaten path and only has a sandwich board and no other external signs. It has a funky/junky decor that is quite eclectic but very well done. It's a small spot so would be tough for a group of more than 4 people and the parking is very tight in the small, shared lot, but definitely worth a small walk available parking on the side streets or nearby lots. They're open from 11am until 6pm. T-A-S-T-Y!

For a place that serves the most diverse array of sandwiches from around the world, this small hidden sandwich cafe is the hardest place to find. A simple "Deli" sign points you to the way to find this underground basement shop. The decor of this place is representative of the them with little trinkets and the like from around the world. It's actually a very small and confined space with only a few tables and a couch, which is actually reminiscent of those old '80s basement living rooms. Anyway, at first glance, I was blown away at their sandwich menu. The variety was amazing and they had divided their sandwiches between meats and no meats and then by country. They had everything from Argentinean beef to Korean kimchi and even Danish egg. I had no idea what to choose so I asked the girl at the counter what the most popular sandwich was. She suggested the Iraqi turkey so I gave that one a try. After this point, stars begin dropping like flies. The worst part about this place is that the service is extremely slow. It took me about 40 minutes to get my sandwich. Seriously? There were 3 or 4 people working and no more than 5-6 orders and it took that long to get a sandwich made. Sandwiches by nature are supposed to be quick and easy. The second thing I noticed is that the kitchen area is extremely transparent. You can see exactly what they're doing and how they make their sandwiches. I can see that they microwave their meat. Okay I can deal with that. They also microwave their bacon. Quality drops a bit. They also have an open jar of pesto from Costco. I have no qualms with Costco products, but at a specialty sandwich place? You would think such a place would have the decency to make their own homemade pesto. It's pretty embarrassing. I also noticed there was much confusion about people's orders. I wasn't the only customer who was upset at the horrible service. My last complaint is the price and size of the sandwich. I'm okay with paying $7-9 for a sandwich, but at least make it sizable. They are tiny and you are definitely overpaying for what you get - especially for ingredients that are store-bought. But, enough negatives for one day. What did I like? The sandwich flavor-wise was pretty damn good. They got the quality of the bread down. Toasty on the outside, but soft enough to not hurt the roof of my mouth. The seasoning was flavorful and unique - I can't judge what Iraqi food really tastes like, but if it was anything like the sandwich, I would love to have more. And the simplest addition of pickles to a turkey sandwich really made the flavors jump out. They might have overdone the mayo, but minimal complaints there. I'd love to come back to try every single one of the sandwiches that they have here as a personal challenge, but I think I would go broke. I would also probably waste days of my life waiting for the sandwiches to be made.

I had heard/read so much about this being a hidden gem in town that I was expecting a lot more than what I got. I ordered the Lebanese Lamb and the boyfriend got a Thai Chicken sandwich. Both were served on toasted bread, which gave it a nice touch. The lamb was sliced and topped with a light yogurty dressing, which complimented it well. The chicken was a spiced, but juicy and flattened breast on toasted bread. Overall, both sandwiches were good, but not worth what we paid. (My sandwich alone was over $10).

Hundreds of miles away and craving the Jamaican avocado badly. Anyone know what they put on it? (sigh.)

It's been 8 years since I've even been in Burlington, and I STILL think about that Jamaican Avocado sandwich that I used to get here. I used to get it with cheese, and it was hands down the best sandwich I'd ever had. Yum!

Best sandwich in VT. I'm here almost twice a week, sometimes more, but this place is all you need. the Greek artichoke is amazing, so is the roman portabella, egyptian eggplant and the always classic jamaican avocado (with turkey or bacon), the Korean Kimchi is another fav of mine, I've had them all they are all amazing. Now when I go in I just say make me something delicious and Joe hooks it up! I don't care whats on it as long as its good. Don't go here if you are picky, catering to people who don't want certain things on their sandwich is not their specialty.

Completely legit. Rouge sandwich joint, old-school cash only...decorated by student communists or artists (or both). An inventive take on your basic deli menu. Try the Iraqi turkey. In a word, awesome.

Seeking the perfect sandwich joint? Look no further. This is it. Have patience for your hand-crafted meal to emerge from the kitchen, and bring cash (no credit cards accepted) and you'll be rewarded. Ingredients are top notch flavorful.

Was in Burlington on business. The folks we were seeing suggested we get sandwiches to go for our drive to Montreal. I was with two other colleagues and all of us swore that was the best sandwich we ever had. We all had different sandwiches too. I had the salmon and it was delicious. It had pickles, a honey mustard type of sauce, with some greens. OMG, it was the best sandwich I ever had. My friends got the Vermont Turkey and some veggie sandwich. They both raved about it. The place is basically a hole in the wall and you wouldn't know it existed unless a local told you about it. Trust me, got there. You won't be disappointed. Not sure when I have the opportunity to eat there again as I live on the west coast but if you are ever in Burlington, go to this place. It's not just the best sandwich in VT but possibly the country.

If you haven't eaten here yet, do it --- Four Corners makes damn good sandwiches. Jamaican Avocado and Czech Chicken Salad seem to be among the most popular, but there are tons of different sandwiches to choose from. Be forewarned, they lack descriptions, and I'm sure the people working there get annoyed at the people who ask "what's on ____?" for 10 different sandwiches when there's already a line. Just pick something and go with it. You won't be disappointed, I promise. I'm going to second Candace M. on the Korean Kimchi. It's oh-so-delicious and they make their kimchi in house. If anyone from Four Corners is reading this, feel free to make the kimchi a bit spicier. I will love you for it. Although the quality of these sandwiches make the cost of them totally worth it, be prepared to spend around $10 if you get a sandwich and a drink. These aren't the cheapest sandwiches and frankly I think they should be a tad bit larger for what you're paying. Nonetheless, I'm a huge fan and I will keep coming back.

When i read the reviews of this sandwich restaurant, I knew it was my kind of place. The breadth of sandwiches offered, and the number that are vegetarian is phenomenal. We had two vegetarian sandwiches--the capressi sandwich and the Jamaican Jerk Avocado, and three meat sandwiches--the Argentinian Beef, the Cuban Pork, and the special of the day, which was a schnitzel sandwich. Each and every one of them was spectacular and delicious. Also individually made and we loved the chef. Two of our party had coffee, which was delicious, and the whole meal was very affordable. We would definitely return

This place has delicious sandwiches, but be prepared to wait -- and wait and wait. They have a variety of different types of sandwiches. All of which sound delicious. And there were lots of vegetarian options. I don't suggest trying to change or substitute ingredients on the sandwich - I get the feeling they don't like that too much. Most of the sandwiches are warmed which is part of the time it takes so long, and it just seems like it takes a long time to assemble them, for whatever reason. It is a really small space, which is kind of difficult to find, and it's cash only. Check it out at least once if you need lunch and are in the area...then decided whether or not its worth it to go back.

Came here with a friend when the Greyhound Station was still at 345 Pine. I approached the counter, and after realizing I had no idea what the wacky names for the sandwiches actually meant, I asked the man for recommendations. He asked me "What do you fear?" in a very serious, non-sandwichy kind of way. It was pretty hilarious. The Jamaican avocado is delicious, as I enjoy fancy mayonnaises like wasabi & chili-lime...it makes me feel ma-tore, and sophisticated. Hahah kidding. But I do like these sandwiches, and the atmosphere with its crunchy spin on southwest decor. Are the sammies a little pricey, or am I just a little broke?

My family has been enjoying these sandwiches for over seven years -- and they just keep getting better! Truly innovative, unique, lovingly made, and addictively delicious. I went to school out of state, but make up for lost time whenever I'm home, taking every possible meal in this cozy semi-subterranean gem of a local institution. My personal favorites are the "Havana Ham" and "Jamaican Avocado," but I'm on a quest to try every new sandwich. Obviously, I haven't been disappointed yet! The proprietor is the absolute sweetest man, and his delight in food is contagious. This is an absolute, absolute must for anyone visiting or living in Burlington. To echo other comments, the best lunches I've ever had. The stuff dreams are made of!

We were there on a Sunday - this location is kind of out of the way by downtown standards - but I bet (hope) they do a great business during the week! We had the cuban pork sandwich and it was really, really good! Love that it had both mustard and mayo and the bread is fantastic! Nice little local place - we'll be back again - next time I'm going with the eggplant or the artichoke.... I'll probably just get both and enjoy the heck out of both of them at the same time!!!

My office is right above 4 Corners... literally I look down on their garden and outdoor seating area. The sandwiches are absolutely great. They use fresh ingredients and have some amazing combinations. If you've never been there before, don't be afraid to ask questions. The menu does not describe the fare, and with names like Tibetan Tofu you'll end up guessing what's in your sandwich. It doesn't matter what you get. You won't be disappointed. One warning: they can be slow... very slow. Especially during the lunch rush.

I went to Four Corners of the Earth on a Saturday at 4PM. This place is tucked away in some industrial building. When you walk in, the decor is, well, eclectic. There are a variety of odd pictures scattered about the restaurant. The menu items are labeled by a country and a meat, for example American Beef. Personally, I like knowing what is on my sandwich, but I felt like I was pestering the owner by asking him these questions. Unfortunately, he was out of many of the things I asked for such as roast beef and turkey. While asking about a chicken sandwich he didn't have the ingredients for he suggested another, which I got mainly because I was tired of trying to figure out what was in the sandwiches / if he had the ingredients to make them. While ordering, someone came in who had ordered 30 minutes ago, but the owner forgot. There was also a party of four or so that had already ordered. 20 minutes later, he came over to confirm our orders. Another 20 minutes passed and we received our orders. The sandwiches are the redeeming quality about this place (thankfully). They were all very good. The lebanese lamb was enjoyed. I got the florence(?) chicken which had a pesto mayo, chicken, romaine, and spinach on high quality bread and it was very good. The sandwiches were around $10 each with no sides which seems expensive for the size of the sandwich, but they were very good. Overall, the atmosphere and service at the place brought the rating down a star.

Crazy good sandwich shop. They have a number of sandwich combinations that you might never imagine putting in your mouth, but every time I try a new one, they turn my palate inside out and leave me with a smile on my face. It's worth cruising out Pine St.

Eclectic decor, delicious sandwiches & super friendly staff make four corners of the earth a truly hidden gem in Burlington. A goo friend of ours suggested we give it a try & while it was a bit off the radar in terms of location, it was right on the spot for what we wanted- tasty, affordable deliciousness. You have to ask a lot of questions to figure out whats in all their sandwiches as the names are all over the place...but the staff is used to it & really helpful with suggestions and customizations...going later in the day, we did find that a few of the options were out, so getting there before the lunch rush is prob a good idea. The soup we had was a really great bone-in chicken & veggie that was warm & wonderful. All in all, we were really charmed by this charming sandwich shop!

this place has so much psychedelic crap on the walls it is ridiculous... however-- this place is has a great menu of unique sandwiches. the type of people who go here are generally more interesting than the people who flood church street to spend their saturdays wasting their husband's money. the people who work here are good too. and they grow some of their own garden greens. the place is pretty much the best thing to happen to hippies since tie-dye.

Upon arriving I noticed the decor which was very cute in a kitschy sort of way. The place has a vast menu with clever little names for their sandwiches which is charming until you realize that's all that is provided for a description of each sandwich. At least in writing. Upon asking for a descriptive menu, the woman working there said she'd be happy to provide me with any description. Happy? Not so much. She waffled between lightly amicable and slightly annoyed. After seemingly annoying her with a few inquiries that ALL seemed to have mayonnaise I requested a simple made to order. Turkey, avocado, provolone, tomato, onion and pesto. For all I know it could have been on the menu. Who knows. Then I stood around waiting to be rung up before I realized that they wouldn't do that until the sandwich was ready. Thanks for the heads up there. Then we waited 20 minutes...for two sandwiches. Then at the register we were rung up for $18...for two sandwiches. Mine was much less warm than my boyfriend's hot roast beef sandwich which was dry. To be fair he did ask for it sans mayonnaise, however I don't think a sandwich place should rely so heavily on one condiment to dress sandwiches. After reading on another review that the pesto was jarred and from Costco I was peeved. The sandwiches were mediocre and DEFINITELY not worth the price.
