First off the establishment is not run very well. Every time I've gone the people behind the counter seem to have no clue what is going on. I had to calculate the change for the cashier. Now the food, well it is not terrible it is not that great either. They have sold me expired milk and I have gotten food poisoning from their pizza. Beware this place.

The new Berlin Mall location is extremely strange. Food is meh. The staff are completely odd and very unprofessional.

To preface, I cannot personally comment on any location but the original, primary one on Main St. I have loved going to simply subs back in high school (pre 2001) and ever since. I love their ingredients, quality, size portions, soups, their grill menu, the hot subs menu. My favorites are the steak bomb, and surprisingly I love just a simple, standard BLT on white bread with mayo and Swiss cheese. Their beef stew is great too. Throughout the years, friends visiting town have gone with me to get takeout and always enjoyed it. If you have cash, they will deliver to your home as well. To my knowledge the only other food delivery places are Dominos and another pizzeria. Even though Simply Subs does indeed have great pizza, being able to get the wide variety of the rest of their menu delivered is nice as well.

I braved this establishment today at there new location in the Berlin Mall. Wow what a disappointment!!! I ordered to kids grill cheese sand. @ $3.25+, a Small (9") steak and cheese, and a steak bomb for my wife. It took 10 minutes to get my sub and my wife's and the woman who brought it out wouldn't let go of the plate and insisted on talking while breathing over my food, We sat down still waiting on the grill cheese's which were ordered first, the woman returned with them uncooked on one side and burnt on the other and explained the grill wasn't cooking evenly and was using her fingers to point out the burnt side without gloves. My wife and I ate most of the subs, to which my wife said the meat isn't cooked fully, my only issue was there was more bread then anything. My children refused to eat the burnt sandwiches so I was out $26. My wife said she didn't feel good so we went home and all took a nap for an hour. My wife and I awoke and to save the details darted for the bathroom... needless to say we were sick to our stomachs!!!!! I can not in good faith recommend this establishment despite it's high praise from local citizens, as you can see here on yelp others have had less then good experiences as well. Stick to subway, $5.99 footlong and won't make you sick.

This the good junk you signed up for. Meatball subs. Spicy sausage and peppers. Curly fries. For the truly cash poor regular size sandwiches are $2.75. If your are in need of something quick in downtown Barre this a good inexpensive option.

This place is loved by many and I can't figure out why. The sandwiches are made on store bought bread, the pizza has really thick undercooked dough, but the fried options are done properly. Their menu is hilarious, they brag about using yellow mustard, iceberg lettuce, american cheese and pepperidge farm bread ( i think )... In a place like VT, most menus brag about local foods, organic options and locally baked bread. The staff is nice, though.
