We wanted to go to Cornerstone, but they were closed and we were hungry. This seemed like one of the only places around that was open. It's certainly not bad. They were out of chicken wings so we opted for the "boneless" wings. It's been a long time since I've had boneless wings so I can't compare them in my head to anything. I felt like they were probably bought at Costco and tossed in a reasonably good buffalo sauce. The portion was generous though. The pizza we had was not horrible. It lacked character, but it was a safe palatable affair. The crust was thick, light and bready. Think Pizza Hut, if only it weren't soaked in grease. The sauce was sort of bland, but there were plenty of toppings on the pizza. The guy working seemed friendly enough. It's not going to be my first choice to go to if I'm ever in Barre again, but I certainly wouldn't avoid it if nothing else is open.

Stopped for few burgers and a beer. Ordered a Medium and Medium Rare Burger. Both came out, after a 20 minute wait, well done. I sent mine back my wife are hers. Very dry. Another 25 minutes and we wave the waiter over from the bar where he's flirting with a customer. He says I'm sorry it's not ready yet do you want it to go. I said yes and if it's been cooking for 25 minutes it's not going to be medium rare. Of course I checked it before we left. Burnt this time and very well done!!! Never going back there again!!!

Mr Zs is an OK place to eat. Their prices are alright for the barre area. Pizza is not so great but their chicken tenders are good.

Everyone around here knows this isn't known as an Italian Restaurant but really a Pizza Joint and it's cheap, like a Pizza Joint. I have fond memories of getting a Valentines Day party here when I was maybe 10 years ago. It was a huge snowstorm. They made the pizza in the shape of a heart. Most of the people I invited, didn't come. Anyways, the food, if anything, has improved over the years. They have a great selection of micro beers if you are into that kind of thing. It is not fine cuisine but anyone who knows the area would not to except fine cuisine. They used to use these wonderful homemade ravolis before the ravioli place got bought from some shipdits who ran the business into the ground within 2 months. However, the pasta they use is still of quality. I highly doubt it's Ragu as some crabby elderly traveler posted on his Yelp. I must rebut, the cheese does in fact com from Cabot (no, it is not made in WI and it is most definitely made here in VT). The dough is not frozen and I don't have to work there to know that. I've eaten enough of their pizza to know. I would recommend PP2 or Jimmz Pizza anyday over Mr. Z's but the thing you won't get at Mr. Z's is a PP2/ Montpelier typical snotty attitude served with your dinner. Or have to drive 45 minutes for Jimmz and they are not snotty just too far away to frequent. You also won't get the variety of items on the menu at other pizza places In order of what I like best on the menu: 1. Pasta (comes with garlic bread and salad) 2. Cheese salad. Come on, how could you not? There is about 2 lbs of shredded cabot cheese on this bad boy. lol 3. bacon cheeseburger- huge burger with a grill taste and you can get sweet potato fries. 4. When in doubt, pepperoni pizza. You really want to stick to 1/2 toppings, otherwise the pizza has a wet/ soggy feeling to it. 5. Subs (eh, just not a fan!) They don't pile the meat up the way I like. As appetitizers go, the onion rings are of the best variety I've tasted. Thick, dripping in oil and just really bad for you. The poppers, you only get 4 so it's not really worth it unless you are really craving it. The cheese salad, or the anti pasto ( which is really just the cheese salad with sliced salami and ham on it). I will say their dessert menu needs some help! Not a lot on it, kinda pricy and the few things I;ve ordered, were not worth the money. They really need to sell Caniolis!!!!

Great Pizza - as long as you've got 2 hours We get great pizza here, including gluten-free, every time. The staff are always friendly, and it's a clean pleasant place on the main drag. But - it's important to know to know how how slow and, to tell the truth, disorganized they are. We just had a nice lunch here, pizza and beer, and it took about 90 min. Total pandemonium when we walked in , because 3 parties walked in at once-to an empty restaurant. The really nice waitress was very apologetic, said they were down a server. Maybe a bit worse today. But not much. You just need to expect to spend some time. The truth is, with better organization, this place would rate 5 stars. The pizza is that good.

Food is okay for the price you pay, garlic bread was over cooked, meatball grinder was cold, however service was adequate and waiter was quick to correct a minor mistake with my order. Overall it wasn't a great dining experience, but I've been here before and had a great experience, so I'll try again

Pretty good restaurant for this area. Very reasonable for the prices and generous portions. The fish for the fish n chips had a very wonderful crust to it. Would most likely come back to try it again.

Asked the server about the "chef" salad, and was told the turkey was cooked in house and sliced to order. I also asked if any of the dressings were made in house, and was informed the "chili honey" was made fresh. The salad arrived with a huge pile of mozzarella cheese on the top, hiding any "turkey" (which was diced cold cuts) and the dressing was obviously just chili powder and oil. There was no hard boiled egg, cukes, tomatoes, or any other veggies than lettuce, which makes a "chef salad" , two green pepper slices at best and some onions, obviously pizza toppings. They could easily correct this.

Let me try to find the right word here...........hideous, yes that it, hideous. I'll describe the food with examples: Ragu sauce, frozen dough, Costco burgers, cheese from....not Vermont, probably not even Wisconsin. Avoid this place, it's not Italian food. It's heated up frozen food, TV dinners. It is the worst Italian restaurant I've ever been to.

We were headed to the Ben & Jerry's factory and wanted to eat a good lunch. Mr. Z's was fantastic on every level, the pizza and the calzone were very tasty and the burger was huge. The best part of our lunch were the onion rings, a must if you go there. Service was fast & friendly, and the prices were very reasonable.

I had memories of this place being good years ago, but last time I ate there I got the veggie burger. It was obviously just a frozen boca burger, and it was still cold inside, the first bite and I lost my appetite. This place has gone down hill.

Mr. Zs is downtown Barre's Italian restaurant. While the food isn't exactly authentic, it is good. Their pizza is a little more Chicago style in that the crust is on the thicker side and not for those that like it thin and crispy. They are generous with the toppings though and the sauce is good with a little red wine note. Their other offerings are good as well. The Pasta is good, the burgers are very good and the chef salads are generous. My personal favorite is thier calzone. It's stuffed with tons of ricotta and mozzerella along with a little herbage for a unique taste. Most times I ask for it with a side of ranch dressing instead of marinara.... Its out of sight.

The lasagna definitely isn't anything to write home about, but in general the food is good, the service is good, and it is a family-friendly atmosphere.

everytime I visit barre I have to go to mister Z's. The atmosphere is welcoming, food delicious, and staff friendly... the decor could use a little updating though.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
