The boyfriend and I were heading down I-95 to pickup a few things from IKEA with the intent of grabbing breakfast around the area. I checked Yelp and Joe's had a shiny 4 star rating, so off we went! (Note: It was approximately 1.5 miles past the shopping area where IKEA is) We only waited about 5 minutes for a table, but once we were sat, there was a line with a wait! Talk about good timing [for us]. The prices were inexpensive, about less than ~$10 per entree. We ordered sausage gravy biscuits to share, scrapple for him, and a traditional breakfast (sausage links, hashbrowns, 2 eggs, and toast) for me. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh. Including coffee and tea, our bill was only around $25! For the cost, the quality of the food was great. The service was a little slow, but we were checked up on and our waters were refilled when needed. The only negative was that the the wait time for our food was crazy. We waited about ~30 minutes for our food. It was pretty busy, but breakfast food typically doesn't take that long to cook. We were starving and devoured all of our food quickly once we received it.

Staff had me feeling rushed and I ordered pulled pork and the bread was soggy not a little soggy....like left out in the rain soggy. That was not the worst part of my lunch... They have zero sound deadening anything in there and the entire place was like eating in a cafeteria not in stereo.. In concert... The noise level was in fathomably loud... I won't return

I have been here twice now and I have to say that I have not been disappointed. First visit I had a pastrami on rye with yellow mustard. The sandwich came with a combo of regular and sweet potato fries. Nice touch I thought. Now this was not piled with a mountain of meat like you would expect in New York. But a generous portion none the less. The sandwich also came with lettuce and tomato which I could do without but it didn't bother me either. Second visit I had the Kentucky Hot Brown. I had never had the pleasure to enjoy one of these before. I am glad that I ordered it. Named after a hotel in Louisville, KY, it features an open faced turkey sandwich with bacon and a rich cheese sauce. Also included was lettuce, tomato, and red onion. I found it quite decadent but a bit heavy, but I think that is the point. In the future I would order it sans the lettuce which had lost any crunch, and the red onions which give me heartburn.

Been here a few times with my parents, very small place and usually busy. With only 1-2 servers working the whole restaurant. The staff is friendly and laid back. They recently redid the menu and have breakfast and lunch on separate menus. Since we got there at 11 today they gave us copies of both. I've got the chicken and waffles before and it was ok, I was a little disappointed that the chicken was tenders instead of on the bone but it was pretty good. Today I got the bacon cheeseburger, ordered med rare and it was SO good, as were the fries. They are served with some sweet potato fries mixed in. I loved them, thin, crispy and flavorful. I usually always dip my fries in something and I didn't this time. They are that good! The burger was so juicy and thick, I'm a pretty big eater and almost couldn't finish it all but it was so good I couldn't stop. Get a burger!

So I've been wanting to try this place for months but it's always crowded. The server didn't advise that it's a dollar up charge for cheese on each plate that I asked for cheese for our eggs. That would have been nice to know. Most established restaurants are sure to let you know. The breakfast was just okay--more like meh. There is so much hype on yelp about this restaurant, I just knew I was missing something. I can't say I won't ever be back, but I definitely won't be back for breakfast. It was flavorless and almost bland.

Best bacon ever! Never had a problem here... Except that twice I've needed to change my son's diaper and the bathroom doesn't have a changing table... And both times the servers told me that they have one, it just hasn't been installed yet... Other than that, great restaurant!

My wife and I had breakfast here on Tuesday morning. We had no wait at about 8 am on a weekday. I would have liked to have seen a sign that said to seat yourself or wait to be seated. I am still not sure which is proper because the regulars seemed to seat themselves and the newbies waited to be seated. I had the combo breakfast and added blueberries to my waffle. My wife had the combo and added grits. I ordered toast on the side and one thing I really liked is that they did not butter the bread for me. I dislike the nasty cheap margarine that most other restaurants known for breakfast use. The food and service were really good. It was worth the 20 minute drive from our place in Manassas. We will definitely be back!

Went in tonight with my family about a half hour before closing. Our waitress was Tina. She was absolutely fabulous - very friendly efficient, and very nice about all of our requests. The food seemed very fresh. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, well done. It was seasoned perfect. It was cooked perfect, exactly how I expect well done to be - no remaining pink but not burned in the least. That sounds obvious but so many places cant cook to "well done" without screwing it up. So, job "well done." Definitely one of the better burgers I've had in a long time! My wife ordered a chicken club sandwich. She said it was really good. My oldest son ordered steak and cheese. Well, you know how teenagers are. Im not sure he tasted it, but he swears it was good! My youngest, at 7, is an expert at macaroni and cheese. He said it was the best ever! French fries: im not an expert on the age of grease, but I am going to say these fries tasted very fresh. There was no 3 month old recycled grease taste whatsoever, unlike the many fast food restaurants in the area . I typically fry my french fries at home in vegetable oil, & I can tell you that these fries tasted every bit as fresh and actually tasted better than what I make it home. Overall, excellent service, excellent food, and very reasonable prices for the large portion sizes. We will definitely be back!

Ate here for breakfast over the weekend. Was pretty crowded when we showed up, but we got a booth as soon as we walked in the door. Very friendly staff. Ordered he breakfast sampler with scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon and pancakes. The eggs were decent, hard to mess up eggs. Bacon and hash browns were very good, but the pancakes were the bomb. Very large, fluffy and delicious. Also got a surprise when there were a few chocolate chips in them! Strongly recommend visiting this place soon. You won't be disappointed!

I REALLY wanted to love this place. Its been on my radar for months. We finally went this morning and the trip overall left much to be desired. Its a Sunday morning and I understand being busy. We went in and were told 15-20 mins. We decided to wait outside bc it was such a nice day but the wait ended up being over 40 mins. We were finally seated and the worst part is, our server NEVER came to our table! We waited 15 mins and finally flagged our waitress down. She took our drinks and we ordered right then bc we had already looked over the menu. She walked passed us numerous times and didnt stop once. The hostess actually noticed this and asked what our server looked like to make sure we were tended to. Food finally came out and thats the only bright spot. Home fries were amazing. I got the eggs benedict which was really good and a side of bacon. Bacon was cooked perfectly but there was a big piece of plastic from the package I'm assuming wrapped around it. Big thumbs up to the hostess. She was awesome. I could see her running all around and checking on things the whole time I was there. I might give Joes another shot in the future, I'm hoping it was an off morning.

Great food, excellent prices, phenomenal service. Get the home fries with paprika. Definitely my go-to diner in Woodbridge.

Excellent breakfast! Eggs Benedict was awesome, best I've ever had. It started getting packed on a Sunday around 1030, but was so worth the wait!

I drive by almost every day, but never stopped. I finally decided to stop in after reading the good reviews here on Yelp. I ordered a cheeseburger. It came with shoestring fries (mix of white and sweet potato fries). The burger was HUGE. It must have started out as a 1/2 lb. of hamburger. It was delicious and messy. Every thing you want in a burger. My waitress was really friendly, but didn't hover (which I hate). I'll definitely be back.

My family (husband and I and my 2 little girls) came to eat here after hearing from many people how GREAT it was.... 1) I CANNOT eat ANYWHERE that is HOT.....the inside of this trailer was prob 90 degrees, I'm not even joking....I was SO HOT that I had To go stand in front of the Window unit AC so that I wouldn't pass out while waiting for our food....it was MISERABLE...when food came, I couldn't even eat much bc it was SOOOO HOT....no joke, it was MISERABLE... 2) the food....not that great.....nothing that was worth sitting in the heat for..... NEVER going back...EVER....

This is 3 1/2! Pretty good food. I had the Breakfast combo. Waffle, cheese eggs, bacon and hash browns. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Sweet tea was really good and most importantly freshly brewed. Prices are very reasonable!

I went to try out this new diner with three girlfriends from work on a Friday around noon. We were glad to get a table right away as it was busier than I'd expected. They might need more seating soon if the crowds keep up. The prices were quite good for the quality (under $10 each before tax and tip). Our server showed just the right amount of attentiveness. Food took a bit longer than expected, but it was worth it. We each got something different off the menu and sampled each other's - tuna melt, lobster roll (so much lobster! ), crab cake, and Kentucky hot brown (our fav, turkey like Thanksgiving, awesome sauce, and mmm, bacon!). I can't wait to sample the gyro and the reuben next time. So excited to have another quality lunch option near work. I might even have to come try breakfast or dinner (Fridays and Saturdays) if I'm in Woodbridge on the weekend - hope it's not too busy!

Came for a late breakfast. Good was good. Had scrapple so that was a plus. We had a verity of items - French toast, eggs, hash browns, grits, biscuits. Everything was good, needed seasoning though. Will def try again and for lunch. Service was great!

Joes American Diner just opened today and is still in its soft-opening phase. While they're still working out some kinks, most of that is behind the scenes. Service was prompt and courteous. Food-wise, we ordered the crab cake sandwich and the Patriotic Burger. Both sandwiches were huge almost to the point of being unmanageable by hand. But we both agreed that everything was delicious. Both meals came with a side of fries which were a mix of regular and sweet potato fries. All in all a good experience. Always nice to add a new dining option in this area of chain franchises.

Good place. They only been open for a month so its a startup. Parking is not great because there isnt room, we had to wait for someone to leave before we could find a spot. Once your in the restaurant it is nice, clean and has a mom and pops feel. The food is good and i would definitely come back again. I hope they do well. Service was a little slow but thats expected in smaller places.

    (4)
  • Lor B.

The good: amazing food, reasonable prices, good coffee, and great service. The bad: parking is a bear and lord help you if you have to wait for a table for a large group. You'll be standing there, starving, watching everyone shove food in their cakeholes and listen to people groan and moan about how good it is. Don't miss the eggs benedict. That hollandaise sauce is so good, i kinda wanted to propose to the chef.

Found out about this place from great reviews on Yelp. Plugged it in to the GPS based on thee fact that their hours on Yelp say they're open until 9 PM. Drove all the way there, and they close at 4PM. Not cool at all. Align your actual hours with Yelp, because after all, you are getting business that way.

Best grits I have ever had in my life! Good service, good food! Place is small but seating is comfortable. Parking lot is small. And the prices are great! I am coming back for the GRITS!

  • Chong K.

Finally came in for breakfast after noticing their good reviews. Had a veggie omelette, OJ, and some coffee. All tasted good. One thing that I did notice was that they had new or fairly new all white plateware. Although busy, the place looked clean and organized. Didn't use the restroom but expect it to be consistent with observed cleanliness.

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile and managed to get in on a Sunday about an hour before close. Greatest food in the area!!!! My husband & I have been back 4 times in about a 2 week span. We've had breakfast food along with lunch/dinner and everything has been outstanding. Our last 2 times we have been in our server Tina has been great. Will request her when we go in if she is working.

  • Elaine G.

This place is wonderful, one of the very few diners I've been to that actually have that diner feel! The service is excellent from the moment you step in the door. Not rushed at all like overrated eating places. The food was good and what you get portions and taste for the price is spot on! I will most definitely be coming back to try other breakfast items including their lunch menu! So don't just drive by this spot and dismiss it because if you do then you're missing out on awesome service, food and price!

I went this morning for breakfast, overall it was a good experience. The place is small & was packed. There were a few people waiting for seats, we sat at the bar. The pros: food is good, low priced, ($26 for two people- look at the pics & all the food we got too), clean, people/staff were all very nice, anytime anyone noticed my glass was empty they filled it immediately, even tho they had tables of their own. Cons: it's small so it's a bit noisy, the girl next to me was complaining about that, food was slow to come out, it's not fast food. I enjoyed it better than IHop, Bob Evans & Silver Diner.

Great food that's fresh and got a home made taste. Had a great breakfast combo and even a mimosa. It was a little packed on account of I went on Fourth of July. Pancakes were better than ihop. Definitely re comes and will go again.

  • Reggie R.

Joe's was definitely a good impression on my first visit. The food was home made, I had the pork chop and eggs. The pork chop was tasty and the eggs were the way I like them. My wife ordered the eggs Benedict and she liked it also. The best thing about Joe's is the price, it's definitely cheaper than ihop or Dennys. We will be going back to try out the lunch and dinner menu.

Not sure if they were short staffed but the service was really slow. I had the crab cake sandwich. Way too much filler. I would try this place once more. I believe in second chances. 1girl2spoons

I went to Joe's Diner on Monday Dec 15th for a birthday breakfast. For a weekday morning it was actually kind of busy with only a couple empty tables. The diner is small but clean and tidy, with a small bar and some booth and table seating. The servers were very friendly and helped eachother out by making sure everyone had water/coffee regardless if it was their table or not. Our server recommended the pancakes so we ordered a short stack to share. We each ordered the Build Your Own Omelet, they were huge plate sized omelets and very delicious! The homefries are seasoned with onions and are now a favorite of mine. We ordered way too much food for two people but it was under $20. Definitely will be coming back to try the lunch and dinner menu. Make sure to check their hours before venturing out as they are varied.

Two of us stopped by for breakfast this morning, at 9:30 am. There was a waiting line. Upon being asked, we told the server we wanted a table and we had two people in the party. We were told to wait in line behind two other groups of people waiting for a table. After waiting in line for 25 mins or so, the server sat two people from behind us. When we objected she said she thought we had more in our party. (I learned she had no waiting list to match against the waiting line, so to her it was just a group of people in line). 10 mins. later, we were seated at a small round cocktail lounge type of table (hardly any room at all to eat on with coffee). We made our order, then waited. When a booth became available near us, we asked for and were given the booth. Much happier, we sat there and waited for our food. (Omelet, pancakes). And we waited, waited and waited. We were told along the way that our food was coming up soon. Finally at 10:45, I told the server to cancel my order, I'd just pay for the coffee. My friend still wanted food and was willing to continue waiting. At 11:00, we both gave up and were told by the server that our order was cancelled by mistake when they had a computer freeze up and that is why we never received it. (They had written our order down, they should have used that when the computer failed). The owner may be a good cook, but certainly not a good business man. No wait list (paper and pen) for the waiting line? Cocktail table to eat on, not a square table? Not using paper when the computer fails? They are not ready yet for prime time. They cannot handle the business they have now. Too many people, too little space. I will give one more chance and then decide if it is worth my time, money and aggravation. Until then...

Nice to finally have a locally owned diner in Woodbridge! Joe's serves typical diner fare. It has a small parking lot and if you can, I'd park across the street. The traffic signal leaving Joe's is not timed. I ended up going up to the next light and making a u-turn. The interior is small and cozy. I ordered a veggie omelet with grits and wheat toast. It came out hot and tasty loaded with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions. It was a great deal at $7.95. I'll be back to try the Kentucky Hot Brown.

We went there on Sunday at lunchtime and the place was packed. We ended up only waiting about 5 mins for a table and the hostess was very pleasant and constantly communicated with us regarding when a table would be ready. It is very refreshing to have someone as positive and up-beat as her greeting your customers. Made the wait time go fast. I ordered a Turkey Club sandwich and my friend got a Tuna Fish sandwich. Both were hot and well prepared. They came with a side of skinner french fries - half sweet potato and half white - which were also delicious. Ended the meal with a root beer float to go and as expected it was awesome too! All the staff was very courteous and hard working - many times we saw several of the waitress's almost running to get drinks for customers, clear tables, deliver food, etc. Overall, a great experience! Tip - You can park on either side of the restaurant or across the street in the neighborhood.

Amazing place!! Going in here you would think this place has been open for a long time. A lot of customers of all kinds here. They tell me that right now they are only open for supper on Friday and Saturday. I had breakfast here. They had many choices. I got eggs Benedict and my wife got a Western omelet. Eggs Benedict was $6.95 and Western omelet was $5.99. They also had SOS and other things. Lunch menu looked interesting. Very friendly waitress who provided great service. I was told that This was Joe's only restaurant and he did not run any pizza places. I sure will be back to try more food like the hot turkey sandwich. I did return for breakfast and ordered the SOS. It was good but left me wondering if the dried beef was real or imitation. You can recognize the imitation dried beef because the label says "Ground, formed and sliced". Real dried beef says no such thing.

So glad this little building is being utilized again! Smallish, seats around 60, including the bar. Good food & great music. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Basic diner menu full bar.

Really good breakfast! No more ihop or bob Evans. Joe's Diner is the place for me. I just got the breakfast combo and usually get my eggs scrambled soft. Other places just don't know what that means but at joes the eggs were soft pillowey goodness. The French toast was the bomb. And biscuits and gravy rich and creamy. This is a must go to place for breakfast.

Excellent find. I am from a small town where you only find mom and pops. This is a great little place that feels like home. The food is very inexpensive and tastes amazing. All of the servers have been great so far. This place gets packed and they handle it well! You gotta try it!

Been here twice and great both times! Even things you wouldn't think would be good here are amazing like the green chicken chili. Burgers and breakfasts were way better than your typical diner. A nice step above your average greasy spoon.

  • Kathryn R.

Just ok. The hash browns were great, eggs were eggs, corn beef hash was not good but that be my fault for ordering it not knowing exactly what it was. Staff was nice but too busy. I'm glad we tried a local place for something different but won't be returning.

  • Erica A.

The only reason missing a star because the wait time was horrendous. But the food was worth the wait. Absolutely mouthwatering. Went for brunch. Staff was overly nice, the place was spotless considering all the families there. Whatever you do order, stick to what's made in house. Will definitely make this a regular spot.

We have been here 3 times and each time the service has been great and the food phenomenal! The only issue is the parking. It's get crowded easily and it's difficult to get in or out. We will deal w the parking issue bc we enjoy coming here!

  • M J.

My beau and I LOVE this place. We had looked for a new brunch spot for a while and finally found it. The food is home-style and the portions are awesome for the price. We have yet to get anything besides breakfast here, but it's so delicious and hits the spot! We also enjoy the low-key atmosphere for our Sunday brunch and the service is always great. I feel that this is a hidden gem :) There isn't a lot of seating here, so be prepared to wait if they don't immediately have a table. It is worth it!

Wonderful to have a privately owned true diner nearby. I can understand how the location and exterior could create doubt to how good this diner really is, but please don't be discouraged. Seating inside isn't the largest. After-all, this is a small run family diner, not a conglomerate. We usually walk in early enough during the weekday to grab a booth and be promptly greeted. Coffee is stiff enough for my liking (even though I'm a dark-dark roast guy). The menu is perfect proportioned for breakfast and they do serve some tasty morning delights. The kids menu items are very large for 'kid portions'. I'm pleasantly shocked every time at the amount of food for the kids... and it's high quality like the regular menu. I can tell when the kids meals are under-prepared or of lower quality than the adults. The kids' is essentially a bit smaller than the adults, which is great. The pancakes are slightly crispy on top/bottom with a soft interior, just how I love 'em. Syrup is warmed on request and bacon is of the highest quality and thick. With the place being a cozy size, the servers are quick to come back around with hot coffee. My family and I love this place and always look forward to returning.

Nice find!!!! Been passing by this place for months.. Glad that we finally got a chance to try the breakfast. Be mindful of the parking bc it's a small parking lot and sometimes big trucks take up two spaces... Had to wait for a table but once we sat down, the service was prompt and friendly. There's a sign on the wall asking for patience because your food won't come out quick but worth the wait. Every dish is cooked to order and is definitely worth the wait! When our food came out, it was perfectly portioned and delicious! It was hot and looked like an ad out of magazine for "delicious breakfast served here". My husband is from upstate New York where all American diners are on every corner and are much to contend with. Having eaten at many of these hometown diners with him over the past twenty some years I have to say, our expectations were not as high but as we ate and ate and ate, we were ecstatic that we now have a local, all American diner right down the street from our house! The food, the patriotic decor, the quaintness, was all up our alley and we will definitely go back for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pricing is fair and very affordable. I would say that you may even spend more at a fast food joint for a far less quality meal. They even have CRAFT beer on tap. Not many but was happy to see Heritage Brewing and Devils Backbone sharing what little tap space there was. Just go. You won't be sorry! :)

This place makes me so happy! I'm not sure if it is because of the close proximity to my house, the good food, the friendly, quick service or the cheap price. I'm sure it's all of the above. I found this place using the Yelp search for a new brunch spot. I visited them after church and then brought my daughter back the next day. It's such a great bang for your buck!

Finally, a non-franchised diner. Prices are the best I've seen in northern VA. Service was excellent on a Saturday morning and a Tuesday morning. The server told me the corned beef hash was fresh. I got the eggs on hash. It looked and tasted like canned hash. The potatoes were that extremely fine dice that is consistent with canned. The hash was like a paste. If it truly is home made they succeeded in duplicating canned. I still really like this place. Today I had eggs Benedict. And enjoyed it immensely. Home fries were perfectly seasoned. My daughter loved the pancakes, light and fluffy. I won't order the hash again, but this place is our new favorite Eatery. Again, the prices were sooooo reasonable. I hope they change the hash recipe. BobW. CIA "81"

Great food. Amazing waffles and decent coffee.. Not too watered down like some other restaurants. Amazing food but terrible service. Our server wasn't the greatest and forgot about us. Wait was 30 mins for a party of 3 at around 1130 on a Sunday.

We have eaten here several times before and been satisfied. But today was a disaster! Not sure if it was a lack of training or poor supervision. No straws, no utensils and no napkins. Meatball sandwich with meatballs still partially frozen. One sever seated with friends engaged in conversation. The only other server busy seated at the bar engrossed in her cell phone. Empty drinks went un-noticed. The staff was very unware of our needs and paying little attention to customers. Doubt we will be back.

The family had Breakfast today. There was a little bit of a wait. The food was great, prices very reasonable. The thing that makes this place incredible is the staff. They are friendly, personable and like to smile and engage. You have to love small businesses. Especially notable is the hostess, I don't know her name. This african american lady is so friendly and personable she reminds me of my Mom. She greeted us talked to us and even said good bye. Oh the Food: Eggs Benedict and grits. Incredible Creamed chipped beef on toast. Like Momma used to make - could be a little warmer. Pancakes and hash browns- excellent

Great new restaurant! The decor will pleasantly surprise you. The food is fantastic - nothing fancy, just good, home cooked food. This will be a regular spot for us as it has been for many others! Highly recommended and a nice change of pace from all of the chain restaurants in the area.

Have been there 3 times now and I really like it. They are friendly and inviting. A little limited on space but the accommodate you. I have been there with my husband for breakfast twice and dinner once. Had eggs Benedict both times and french toast, I totally recommend it. If you like eggs Benedict you will be wow'd. They really make a good eggs Benedict. My husband had the vegetable omelette, he really enjoyed it. As for dinner, we had the lasagna and the philly cheesesteak, both were really good and other customers were applauding the food while sitting at their tables too. All in all its a great experience and great food. For the food, price, and the service we will definitely back. Refreshing to go to a place and them have all of that in one place.

We decided to give Joe's diner another try, this time opting for Saturday morning at 8:15. By 8:20 AM all the tables were filled. Our server was excellent, and the food was awesome. I got the eggs Benedict and my husband got a breakfast sampler both were delicious. Glad we gave it another shot just won't be going back after church anymore. Great food at a great value.

I'm gonna give this place three stars. That's certainly not a bad thing and I don't want to deter you from coming here. I think though that our service and food needed some polishing. I ordered hard boiled eggs and they came with the shells on and the service was slow. My husband ordered a steak medium and it came out well done - there seem to be some quality control issues. That said the price was RIGHT and it was a good value. We might be back to give it another shot.

We had breakfast here and it was delicious - really rounding up from 3.5 stars because they are new and everyone was so nice! Pros: welcoming and kind service, delicious diner fare (think burgers, breakfast sandwiches, French toast, eggs, etc.), EXCELLENT prices (the guys all ordered two breakfasts because of this) Cons: slow service (it took forever for our food to come out), chicken and waffles was just chicken and tenders on a waffle which was disappointing, bad parking, limited seating We'd definitely come back if in the area!

The pancakes are perfect with the slightest crisp along the edges. The corned beef hash is delicious and indescribable. And the sausage is home made in the best of ways. The staff is perfectly attuned to their jobs and extremely friendly to everyone who walks through the door. With the true diner feel and a calm, cool atmosphere, Joe's American Diner is true to its name.

Joe's is the best thing to hit Woodbridge since...ever. The food is phenomenal, service is always friendly, and you can't beat the prices. Breakfast is served all day, and the only downfall to that is not knowing whether to get breakfast or lunch. The eggs Benedict is the best I have ever had with hollandaise that has to be freshly made it's so rich. Joe's also has a great happy hour in Friday. If you're looking for that small town diner experience go to Joe's!

Visited this restaurant a few weeks ago with some friends and our children. Our server was so rude. She was very short and snappy with us. I ordered for my 6 & 9 year old. One of them wanted French Toast and one Pancakes. Shame on me for not specifying 'kids' pancakes and French toast. Their plates arrived as adult size servings. As I asked if this was the kids portion, I was told rudely that 'you didn't say kids so that's not my fault'. Afterwards, the tension from our server was unbearable, I couldn't wait to pay and leave. Such a disappointment, I was looking forward to supporting this small business, especially because the businesses that have resided there in the pat have not been able to survive. I was hoping to make this a weekly moms hang out, but this servers attitude ruined it all for me.

Yum! There is nothing better than having a great breakfast spot close by! I "discovered" Joe's when I had an out-of-town- guest. WE ended up coming every morning while she was visiting! The hash browns can only be topped by the home fries - crispy where they need to be soft and yummy everywhere else. I've had French toast, corn beef hash, and sausage so far. I am determined to try everything...and then start on the lunch menu. The service was great. Every day we went we had a different server and every time was great. The wait to be seated was never crazy long and the food came hot and in decent time as well. I recommend a try. I think you'll be happy you did!

Good, but... This is a classic "hole in the wall" diner, with simple, good food. Most of the time the servers are very friendly and attentive. The food has been uniformly good, basic cooking in the 3 times I have been there. I have only gone for breakfast. The one thing that I don't like, and has happened twice, is that they sometimes don't serve what the menu says they will serve. For example, I ordered gravy and biscuits, but instead of biscuits I got gravy poured over slices of white bread. Did it taste good? Sure. The gravy was very good. But I was expecting the homemade biscuits on the menu, not sliced white bread from the store. I understand that diners run out of things, but this is first thing in the morning. Had my server said "we're out of biscuits, can I get you something else" that would have been better than serving me something that isn't what I ordered. I can get bread at home: I don't have fresh made biscuits there. That's why I go out to eat. If you eat here, expect good ol' American breakfast food. But if you are particular about what you want to eat, ask if they have it before ordering.

Came here for a quick lunch one day and discovered, like in true diner fashion, it was closed by 3:00 pm. This did not deter us and we came back the next week. It wasn't terribly crowded for a weekday lunchtime but I can see where they'd run out of space pretty quickly at one of their busy times. My fiancé ordered the gyro and I ordered the bacon burger. His only complaint about the gyro was that there could have been a bit more meat, but was otherwise very good in taste and size. My burger was good, just a bit on the greasy side, (i.e. messy to eat), but still had decent flavor. I really wanted to love it as I'm always looking for a good burger place around Woodbridge, but this would not be my go-to place for burgers. As for the staff, the waitresses are hit or miss. We had a waitress take our drink order and then left. Another waitress walked by to deliver food and we stopped her to ask what she had delivered since it looked good and we had never visited before and were looking for recommendations. While she was explaining what she brought over the original waitress with our drink order came flying over with her pen and pad at the ready rudely pushing (she literally edged in front of her and pushed her back) the other waitress out of the way and snapped at her saying, 'this is my table, I already got their drinks.' I looked at the waitress we had stopped and explained that WE had stopped her since obviously the other waitress wrongly felt the need to put her in her place. We wish now that we had requested the other waitress since ours turned out to be a sourpuss. The service wasn't a big issue as everyone but that ONE waitress was great, but we still have yet to go back. Maybe we'll try it again and see how it goes, but if we get saddled with that waitress again, I certainly will request another.

After passing by Joe's American Diner several times and drooling over the food pictures and great reviews found here on Yelp, I decided to give this place a try and was greatly pleased with my family's food and the service here. One thing I enjoyed a lot were the Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was moist and tender and the waffles (which I believe were the star of the dish) were amazing! I did not even need to add maple syrup to the waffles because there was a hint of it being in there already! Every thing my family had was great, but my dish was not to my liking. First off I would like say that I have been told by others that I am (somewhat of) a picky eater and I guess I can say that their right. I had ordered a burger (of which I cannot remember the name) and I can be pleased to say that I enjoyed the colorful sweet potato and traditional potato combo. My main issue is the burger. The burger had a strange seasoning that was put into it and for some weird reason only a select few of the ingredients were taken off my burger. Some of the ingredients that were on the burger were not even listed on the menu! If I knew what I was getting into by ordering a burger I would not have ordered it! Now next time I know to stick to a breakfast item and stay away from the burgers. Before I finish off with my review I would like to suggest to you that if you come on the weekend (like I did) I suggest that you come early in the day (maybe before 8am). I also suggest that if you cannot do that, then park on the right side road as it may be easier than finding a spot on the left side in the parking lot. Other than the crowds and the burgers I suggest that you come and enjoy Joe's American Diner('s Breakfast)!

Great food, great service, even greater prices! You really can't go wrong! I ordered a breakfast sandwich, sausage egg & cheddar cheese on wheat bread, it was awesome! Plus biscuits & gravy yummy! The prices are basically equivalent to McDonald's prices for real quality food. ;)

Went here this morning for Breakfast. It's a small place. Nice and clean. We waiting for 5mins. It's hard for me to give 5 stars so 4 stars would do it. 1 everyone was hella nice. 2 the place was hella clean. 3 prices are hella cheap. 4 it's a family place. It's a must try.

When my husband and I saw this place "Opening soon" we said we wanted to try it, so for the first time the other day, we did. I saw the reviews, so I was a little worried about wait time, but I have to say, we are really happy about this place. It has a small town diner feel in our very large area. My husband got a hamburger with fries. The hamburger was hand-formed (not frozen), juicy and delicious with the bacon cooked nice and crispy. The fries were just so-so and needed salt. I got the Joe's Omelet with ham, sausage, bacon and cheese. It was pretty large, but not overwhelming. The hash brown that came with it were crispy and delicious. The toast was a little over-toasted and I didn't care for that. My father-in-law got eggs benedict, which were delicious. The hollandaise sauce was fantastic and made there (not from a jar or anything). Sometimes hollandaise can be bland, but that was not the case. The egg was poached perfectly and there wasn't too much Canadian bacon, so it didn't overwhelmed the rest. I saw in other reviews that there was a long wait. We went on a Friday at lunch time and didn't have to wait at all. The restaurant only has 12 tables. They were all full and just as soon as someone left, others seemed to be coming in. The restaurant was pretty noisy because it is so small, but it's bearable and we never felt like we had to yell across the table to talk. It was a comfortable noise level for a casual all-American diner. We actually felt a little rushed by the waitress at times. We had never been to the restaurant and needed time to look at the menu, but she seemed to keep coming back every 2 or 3 minutes. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and am looking forward to taking my kids there. For three adult meals, the total bill was $30 with a 20% tip. Kids meals are about $5 and adult meals range from $6-10 for breakfast/lunch. I glanced at the dinner menu, but the prices are still around the $10-12 range. FYI - they do not do military discount, which I found just a little disappointing because there is a lot of military support decor. Either way, low prices, delicious food. The wait staff could use some training, but overall, definitely go once!

This is a real JOES diner. The portions are Hugh. The breakfast sampler is what I choose and my son had chicken and waffles delicious. Prices are easy on the wallet. Arrived roughly 1030 service was quick but challenged. Could only image early would have been much longer wait but worth the wait. Will return again and again!

I am, unfortunately, very disappointed. I really wanted to like Joe's because I typically love diner food. I was with a party of four and we all decided on breakfast although it was 1:30pm. We were quickly seated as it wasn't busy at all. The waitress came less than 5 minutes after we were seated to take our drink and food order. I ordered just pancakes because I was craving them all day. Then we proceeded to wait. We saw other costumes come in and be seated and we still waited. Then we got our drink order, which was very welcomed as we were starving. Then we waited some more. About 30 minutes after we had ordered our food, people that got there after us started getting their food. The waitress walked by and asked if we needed anything. I violently wanted to stand on the booth and yell that I would like my pancakes because my stomach was eating itself!!!! But I politely smiled and said that we were fine. No need to be rude the the waitress. 45 minutes after our order, we finally got our food. And it all did not look very appealing. My friends omelette looked like scrambled eggs with stuff in there. I was so hungry that I didn't care how my square and oval pancakes looked looked. I buttered and syruped and took my first bite. Now, I don't like sausage. I always wanted to like it but I just never could. There was chunks of sausage in my pancakes. YUCK!!! No where on the menu did it mention sausage pancakes. I lost my appetite and Joe's lost stars. The one star is because our waitress was very nice.

I was craving a burger for weeks and looked on Yelp for a non-chain place. I have seen Joe's before and just passed by. After reading the reviews I decided to try it out. I ordered the Joe burger, medium, to go. It was a little more well done than I like but that burger was all kinds of juicy. It was a bit too big for me but that is alright by me. It was extremely delicious. The fries were crispy and really good. I look forward to my next visit to try other items. Plus they serve breakfast ALL day. I know I will be back.

I got an omelet and it was amazing. Since I went there on Sunday around 12:00PM, the place was packed so I waited around 1hr for a table and about 30 minutes for the food but it was worth it.

The gyro was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Lobster roll was a little on the "fishy" side ... Not like other great lobster rolls I've had. Over all a good place to go. Have been told their breakfast is great.

I ate breakfast two times here and I must say that I enjoyed it. The service was wonderful! She was so warm and welcoming. The food here is pretty good too if you get the right things. Prices are pretty cheap and the food fills you up. The only downside is that sometimes it does get busy and parking is terrible there. The Parking lot is more like a lot of pebbles and grass.

Joe, you are amazing! My father and I love to have a home cooked meal and we just happened to search for something local and non-corporate and ya'll popped up. And what an amazing breakfast we had. The omelet was filled with meat, corn beef hash was cooked to perfection (and for these days when you no longer see that even on the menu) and bacon was cooked throughout! This will be our local spot !!!!!!! And our server Patrick was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a great meal at Joes. We ordered the gyro and the reuben, both we delicious! Cute interior, however there could be more seating. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend trying it out for lunch. We plan to go back for breakfast (served all day) in the near future.

Tiny place, very difficult to find seating for a large group of people. Food was very good. The lobster roll was great and they give you a lot. NOTE that the fries they give are a mix of potato and sweet potato unless you ask otherwise. Fries weren't seasoned but were surprisingly not bad. Breakfast items were good as well. Their prices are almost unbeatable. The bacon was surprisingly bad, and I've never complained about bacon before. Could've been a 5 star otherwise, but still highly recommended.

Came here for the first time yesterday. Service was great. Has a very homey vibe and family like atmosphere. Food was excellent! I ordered the breakfast combo. I got the waffles and I'm not a waffle person but this waffle was AMAZING. It tasted like a pancake, moist and buttery but with the chewy flavor that comes with a waffle. The bacon was perfect and the hash browns were delicious! I WILL be coming back!

I wasn't going to do a review but I feel like I have to. The 2 stars are strictly for the staff, our server and hostess were awesome. We came in for breakfast last week bc I like to support n'hood businesses and I'd read great reviews here. My husband and I were both very disappointed in our food. We ordered a variety of things just to get an idea of how they cooked. He said the only thing that tasted good was the bacon and scrapple. The pancakes literally fell apart and he couldn't even eat them. The hash browns and corned beef hash were definitely not home made or even hooked up to fake it. The chicken and waffles I had were more of the same. The waffle was tough and chicken tenders were straight out of the frozen bag. They were actually good though. I also tried the biscuits with sausage gravy. The gravy was ok, need more seasoning but the biscuits turned to gum as soon as I started chewing. Very disappointed in that. Neither of us finished the meal and I'm sad to say we won't be returning.

We came to Prince William for a Hockey game and we were looking for a place for lunch. The Yelp reviews for Joe's American Diner are right on! We were immediately greeted by Deirdre and she made us feel like family. We had a mix of both Breakfast and lunch and everything was fantastic. Everyone cleaned their plates. The Bacon Cheeseburger and fries were my personal favorite!! The place was packed with a steady stream coming through the door. I highly recommend stoping by Joe's for some great cooking!!

My first time there was great. I showed up early, around 6:30am, and there were no customers. I got seated right away and got to choose my spot. I ordered a ham and veggies omelet with home fries and my hubby got a steak and eggs, sunny side up. The food was delicious and cooked well as we had asked. Coffee is good and the place was very clean and had a cozy feel. I will be coming back again to try new things :)

Their food is great and prices reasonable, however, they don't take reservations, even if you go in person an hour early to get your party's name on the list and tell them how many people are coming in and when, because you'll still have a 25 minute wait when you show up at the time you said you'd be there, so our party left and went to another restaurant.

This was a great find in a swamp of suburban Northern Virginia hell. From the outside you're bound to be skeptical, but inside the place is a very comfortable and welcoming diner. No fine dining here, just well-prepared, well-priced, well-served food. I had the green chili and a patty melt, my son had a bacon cheeseburger. All very tasty and nicely presented. Good crowd for a Saturday afternoon - all tables full. I'd much rather support a local place like this than the horrid suburban corporate food down the street. Keep it up, Joe!

I love this place. I have been there 5 or 6 times already since it opened. Exceptionally friendly staff and great food. Its nice to finally have a small town type diner here where food is actually reasonable. I can take my wife and kids for $30-$35 total after a generous tip. A far cry from the 60-75 we normally have to spend on anything not fast food. I don't get the one person complaining they didn't have certain food. A Mediterranean omelet? The name is "American" Diner, not Mediterranean diner. This is a small town type restaurant, not a fancy NYC diner. And they have lots of burgers and they are delicious :)

My family and I have been here twice and both times we have had excellent servers. The atmosphere is very family oriented and the food is exceptional and reasonably priced. So my wife and I are big fans of diners particularly New York City diners. Understand that is a pretty high bar for any diner to meet. IMHO I think Joe's has great potential but isn't quite there yet. With the understanding it was new we gave it that consideration as well. Our hope is they take these comments to heart and become the diner experience Woodbridge really needs. First. Very pleasant atmosphere and great, friendly staff. That went a long way!! The menu is pretty basic for a diner; both breakfast and the lunch menu we pre-viewed. No Mediterranean Omelets, and NO burgers on the lunch menu that I saw. So I ordered the biscuits and gravy with side of eggs. Again I emphasize the wait staff is very friendly however the food arrived after a much longer wait than almost all local establishments (and NYC Diners). When it arrived after probably 20+ minutes it wasn't cold but...it wasn't hot. Gravy was above average and biscuits were average at best; not flaky at all. Eggs were....eggs. Prepared as requested. Cost was VERY reasonable and I'll give this visit consideration that Joe's Diner is working through it's initial opening pains. So 1. Hire more cooks, 2. Expand your menus to include selections beyond basic breakfast, 3. Consider a brunch menu as well. I'd recommend googling NYC diner menues or just visiting a couple for sure. Look forward to visiting again in a couple months!!!

Joe's American Diner is a great place for the standard breakfast--bacon, eggs, toast, home fries, and coffee. My daughter ordered eggs Benedict--they used deli ham instead of Canadian bacon. A friend ordered chicken and waffles--the waffles were good, but the chicken was represented by frozen tenders. Diedre is a delightful server--she is pleasant and anxious to please. I'm not sure the seating is the best arrangement; they don't seem to make the best use of the space. If you're on a budget and you want an acceptable breakfast--this is the place to go.

We were anxiously awaiting for this Diner to open. Really needed something local in our area like this. We have been several times and loved most everything we have ordered. The pizza was more like a tortlla and not very tasty but this is the ONLY menu item that wasnt delicous. The portions are huge and very well made. The wait staff are friendly. The meals dont always come out at the same time but they are working hard to do a great job. Highly recommend going here.

Great little diner. Very friendly staff. We watched every dish come out from the kitchen and wanted to try each one. Had the breakfast; the bacon egg and cheese croissant was as big as the plate it was served on and the taste was just as big. Can't wait to go back for their lunch menu and maybe hit up their happy hour!

Joe's is an outstanding restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff makes you feel like family. Recommend breakfast: sausage gravy, home fries, sausage links. They also have a great burger (Joe's Burger). The owner Joe and his wife make all the meals fresh and this is the reason why everything is so delicious. Great choice in Woodbridge amongst a sea of chain restaurants!

What a great addition to the area! Between four of us we had the Lobster Roll, Tuna Melt, Crab Cake Sandwich & the Kentucky Hot Brown (my favorite!) - everything was so good that we shared them all. Everything was fresh, homemade and delicious, not to mention incredibly reasonably priced.

To explain how good the food is, I had pancakes for dinner there one night, recently. I woke up the next morning thinking about those pancakes, wanting more.

Just ok. The hash browns were great, eggs were eggs, corn beef hash was not good but that be my fault for ordering it not knowing exactly what it was. Staff was nice but too busy. I'm glad we tried a local place for something different but won't be returning.

  • Majo C.

The Parking lot is more like a lot of pebbles and grass.

never considered this place because of what it was in the past. neighbor told me it was really good. after looking it up and saw the good reviews decided to try it. really good diner food that's affordable. its crowded but they do a good job getting you seated and your food. finally something worth going to in this place. wanna go back and try more of the items. good job joe!

AWESOME Little joint! Took my family there for Breakfast and it was WONDERFUL!!!! Can't say enough about the food. Our server was friendly, a little overworked as the place was busy but overall a great spot for breakfast that is different than the usual chain places.

While the outside is deceiving low key; the food is amazing and prices fantastic! Service by Patrick was absolutely the most polite and attentive we've had in a very long time! Recommend the eggs Benedict, sausage gravy and biscuits and omelette --- you must eat here!

I always enjoy going to Joe's. The food is always great tasting and the staff is friendly. Heather is normally how serves me and never leaves me hanging. She is there when I need something.

Started going to this place about 4 months ago, it has the best breakfast around. Good to have a place we can go for home style cooking. Only issue is the wait on the weekends for breakfast.

Good food on the cheap. The place is pretty small and parking is terrible. The food is good though and thats what I go there for. You will probably encounter a wait to be seated...don't be surprised, especially around noon on the weekends.

My family and I have been here twice and both times we have had excellent servers. The atmosphere is very family oriented and the food is exceptional and reasonably priced. My family and I have found our new favorite restaurant and are so happy it's a small mom and pop type of place since woodbridge is crowded by chains.
