Best brisket I have ever had. I am not a huge brisket fan, but I have not yet been disappointed with Daves, despite living in several southern states. The ribs are good, the chicken is good, the catfish is good, the pork is good.....it's all good. I love the coleslaw. Don't love the fries, but who cares? I have had only one less than great experience at Daves, and compared to the other 50 times I've been there, again, who cares? The atmosphere is great, the brisket is great, the catfish is great, everything else is good. Don't love the sausage, but that's about it. I do have one point of contention--the last 3 visits we have had no butter offered for the muffins or corn on the cob, something which has always come with our meal for the last 10 years we've been visiting this establishment. What's up with that?

The spare ribs and beef brisket are the best! I always save some room for their Bread Pudding dessert. The best I ever had! However, a bit pricey for a casual restaurant and service can be dicey...

I love this location in woodbridge the best! The service is great. All the food was amazing. I had the rotisserie chicken with potato salad and macaroni and cheese. The Mac and cheese is delish. I don't even usually eat potato salad and stepped out and tried, and I was pleasantly surprised at how great it was. The only reason it gets 4 is because the sweet tea wasn't good and I'm big on my love of sweet tea!(:

Wow, talk about a massive disappointment. I have been to several Famous Dave's and this visit was not good. I want to start off by saying that we had a wonderful waitress. She was one of the better waitresses I have had in some time. With that said, she is the only positive I can add to this experience. First my sweet tea was (in my Charles Barkley voice) turrible. Tasted under brewed and definitely not sweet enough. I am a big sweet tea guy, so when I don't get good sweet tea, it really takes my experience down a notch. I also ordered rib tips and they were overcooked. I am talking about some of them were just burnt. When I have gone to other locations, the ribs tips are usually extremely tender and flavorful. When you are sitting there for minutes still chewing that is not a good sign. Even the wings that my wife ordered as an appetizer were tough. It just didn't seem like the cooking was that great on that day. Was it an off day? I don't know, but it wasn't up to the standards that I am used to with Famous Dave's.

First, agree with Susan y's review and that the brisket was A-1; and I am a total brisket snob - in that if there is one lick of BBQ sauce near my brisket - I don't tip well. Fortunately, I tipped very well at Dave's. The waitress was good, the brisket was well smoked and tender, and the ribs were fantastic. Their sauce selection will satisfy almost everyone, and the prices are very fair for good fare. The sweet tea was also good. While this isn't the best BBQ I have ever had, it's definitely in the top 10. And for me, that's saying something.

If you're craving some bbq, this is a pretty good place to go. The sauces are very good and the portions are good. Definitely not the best bbq in the world (my vote is rudy's in houston). In terms of food choices, the baby back ribs are good enough. The brisket has been a little dry the few times we've gotten it. The chicken is nothing spectacular.

Great BBQ and great service. I frequent Famous Dave's and love it!!!

This place is pretty decent. We always order the trashcan lid whenever we come here. Lots of meat and sides. Good stuff. It's not stellar barbecue but it's also not bad. Service is always pretty quick and I have no complaints. It is what it is. Whereas I'll agree that Smokey Bones across the street probably does have better quality, once in a while I get a hankerin' for the trashcan lid and I just have to get it. So, decent BBQ, good portions, not bad.

  • Mark C.

Everybody has their opinion when it comes to bbq. My opinion is it's in how the meat is smoked - not what sauces you can put on it to give it some taste. If you are one of those saucy people - this is the place for you. If you like flavor cooked into your meat - stay clear.

I concur with other reviewers - very good barbecue, sides are nothing unusual. Decor is typical American chain restaurant and the service was reasonably good.

  • Benjamin L.

I came out here on a visit from California, so I don't get real BBQ too often, though I understand that this is only a chain. Anyway, everyone in my party got the two-meat combo, mine with their beef brisket and ribs, along with two sides. Very good food, and I made sure to get a nice glass of sweet tea, which doesn't exist on the West Coast. A very nice feast, and we even had a cute waitress, who was very attentive and friendly. Altogether a very pleasant experience, though I guess if I had to list any negative, it'd be that it's a bit on the pricey side for a casual sit-down dinner (approximately $17-20), but the important thing is that my stomach left very satisfied.

I fail to understand people who give such negative reviews yet they keep COMING back.. WTH? I've never had the issues with rude and impatient servers as one here claims keeps happening to them. Why in the world do you tolerate it VS complaining to management? Makes one wonder if the issues are with the customers. The place has good barbecue. Not the worlds best but good food overall.

There is a reason to be famous. Really tasty spareribs! I ordered St. Louis Ribs $15.49 1/3 slab of award-winning spareribs(really tasty with an amazing flavor) and juicy) plus my choice of brisket(not juicy and so so...) Famous fries(fresh and yummy) Wilbur Beans(Baked beans loaded with smoked pork, brisket, hot link sausage and jalapeno peppers is too sweet for me.) Famous Fries(Crispy-fried, thick-cut, skin-on russett potato wedges are pretty good.) Corn bread(Fresh and fluffy) Staff Really friendly and super fast! Inside Many decorations like pictures of other famous BBQ restaurants and huge trophies. Many tables. There Is a bar too. Outside A free parking lot. Table Their own 3 different kind of BBQ sauces and ketchup. Gourmet salt and black pepper. They have a great deal lunch and 2 Happy Hours. I wanna go back there soon;)

We have eaten in and have come and got take out several times. Last eeek I decided to order some food to go from the bar. The male bartender who I have seen in here before is so slow it's pathetic. Now I've owned a restaurant before and have bartended myself. He did get my drink order really fast but at the same time I told him I wanted to order food to go. It took over 10 minutes to take my order and when I asked for a kids menu that took another 5. There were only 3 people at the bar besides myself. When we got the ribs him Wow were they spicey. We couldn't even finish them after scraping off the dry rub. ( Memphis style baby backs). Well I love ribs so we thought we would give the place a 2nd shot. The place is close. This time I called ahead and picked the order up at the to go desk. Whe we got the food home once again the dry rub was so hot the ribs were not edible! Well that's the last time for us as the Memphis rub is not supposed to set your mouth on fire!

We have eaten here many times. It is, in fact one of our favorites. Sometimes the ribs, pulled (chopped) pork and chicken BBQ are perfect, but sometimes they are just average. I don't know why it varies. The lunch special is a great deal although you sometimes have to ask for the menu. Service is great and we will keep coming back.

Stopped on the way home with my family. You have a lot to chose from in this area. Daves was a good pick. Food was timely and tasty: brisket, chicken tenders, hamburger, & fried chicken salad. Service was friendly. They have a booth that offers half-priced food (see picture).

  • Darius M.

This is the second time I have been to this spot. Both times my family and I have had a great time. BBQ makes everyone feel good. I had the St. Louis Rib and chicken platter. None of it made it home. The cornbread was good as well. My sister had the spicy (not so much) sausage and ribs. I like the variety of sauces and the service was also outstanding.

If I could give it less than 1 star I would... The hostess took us past 25 empty tables to seat is rather too close to the bathroom. When requested to sit somewhere else we told table are split amongst the servers. Finally seated at a more desirable table we noted it was sticky with a dirty fork underneath. The waitress was prompt in attending to our needs...however, when another server began to lean over our table for no apparent reason and another sneezing multiple times as he walked by, we cancelled our order and left..

Famous Dave's has always been good to me. I've eaten at this location numerous times and have NEVER been disappointed. While known for ribs, I've been partial to the catfish tenders on recent visits. A heaping of hot fried catfish tenders with a delicious remoulade sauce. Always banging. The sides are adequate, depending on what you get. This time I got collards (canned obviously but doctored up with some chopped pork) and some really good red skinned mashed potatoes. The cornbread is pretty tasty as well, not dry at all. The young lady at the bar is ALWAYS on her A-game and offers quick service. I'll be back for sure.

Dined here yesterday for the 1st time. We were taken care of by Steven. He was very personable and suggested his favorites. We started off with the appetizer known as burnt ends. It consists of brisket ends, onion rings, and pickle slices. Tasty! For my meal, I went with the wood planked salmon and it was fantastic! It included 2 sides and cornbread. I had the red skin mashed potatoes and sweet corn on the cob. I was full, but Steven mentioned the banana pudding with Nilla wafers...so delicious..reminiscent of a banana cream pie. Overall amazing comfort food and service at Famous Dave's.

Looking back on my past consumption of anything cooked on a grille, I can say I have tasted better. Still, for those of us who have little passion for dealing with marinating meat, forming patties, and slathering hotdogs with BBQ sauce, a meal eaten at this Famous Dave's is an adequate experience.

  • Fogell M.

This was my first time here I have to say it was a great experience. I had some of the best ribs here, they were very tender and seasoned well! The sweet mama punch was also a great drink. It wasn't watered down, it was a great balance between alcohol and the punch. There cornbread was very good, One of the best that I've had at a restaurant. I could tell that it was fresh and not box made. The waitress was very nice she gave me some great recommendations and she didn't come back to much nor didn't for get about us. I will definitely becoming back here again very soon. There prices are very decent for great food. The only thing that I disliked was that the bathroom water was very cold when I went to wash my hands and the restaurant was very cold as well.

The service was good even though we camped at her table for more than an hour. The came out quickly and was hot fresh and reasonably good BarBQ. I would eat here again.

  • Rich G.

Each time I eat here, no matter what I order, I am left with the feeling that I really could have gone somewhere else.. But this was OK for a sit down meal. I've eaten here many times and there is nothing that makes me want to ask my family"who want's to go back." It's on the way to the mall, and sometimes we'll go if someone has a craving for BBQ, but if I never go back I'm fine with it. There are other BBQ places to find- hopefully I'll find one soon.

This place has great food. Unfortunately I'm hesitant to come back. The service is so good, I can't stand it. Seriously, my server was so good, she attended to all our needs before we even knew we needed anything. Anyone who eats out knows that means one thing, a bigger tip. Kayla G you are amazing.

Have frequented this particular one over the years...but it had been quite some time since my last visit... This time I had a taste for just ribs, skipping the vegetable, corn muffin, etc. I ordered from the carry out menu the Southside rib Tips. A few years ago I ordered their rib tips and was truly disappointed because of their toughness and lack of meat...Don't know if these now, called SOUTHSIDE meant anything but taste wise and quantity of meat on the bones made this a winner. I enjoyed the dry rub on them but not the bbq sauce that came with the order...Luckily I picked up a few packets of their own brands...The rub was almost excessive but combined with the bbq sauce, they were delicious... The jalapeno picked red onions were nice and not too spicy along with the hellfire pickles.. All of the pieces were meaty with little fat or gristle...tasty indeed and satisfied my longing for ribs. Honestly I enjoyed this meal just as much as if i had ordered a half rack of ribs because of the taste and their tenderness.... For the true rib lovers I would suggest having that second party with you order the regular half or whole slab and you compare them with your rib tip order....never thought I would sway from the large ribs but the tips made me a believer...order your sides separately if you have a craving for any of them....

Good food served fast. Inexpensive. Had a "platter" which is a sampling of chicken, ribs, and brisket with cole slaw, beans, and corn bread served on a trash can lid. Down side is that two pieces of ribs filled is up. Really fresh tender meat shouldn't do that. But overall nice family restaurant.

  • Kasey M.

Great place to go. The ribs are awesome. My wife & I got the dinner for 2 (I can't remember what it was called). It was served on a trash can lid. It was awesome. The kids got the kid's meals (ribs also). They said it was very good. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Every time we come to the DC area to visit the inlaws we wind up taking out from here at least once, and it never fails to impress. Everything is good, although the chicken is a little on the dry side. But the ribs, brisket, cornbread, coleslaw are all great, and the beans and collards are solid as well. I'll happily continue to eat from here, and might have it again this trip before we head back.

Bottom line up front...Poor service and not a good value for average BBQ. Went in on a Friday night with a good size party. Watched an even bigger party come in afterwards and be given the table we were waiting 15 minutes for. Then, we were given a less than competent server and had to wait a long time for drinks. The other larger table, sat the same time, had their drinks and food first. Then comes the food, really it's nothing special at all. I can get equal quality BBQ for half the price from a road side stand. The sides are tiny, ordered the beans and the bowl is about the size of a half dollar coin. $10 for a sandwich and about 15 beans, I think not.

Best barbecue we've had in the last five months since we left Texas. And that is saying a lot. Eight dollars for a barbecue brisket sandwich which included a side order of cornbread. A lot of value for the dollar. Service was excellent and very accommodating. Interior of the restaurant has a lot of fun photos collectibles and signs. We will definitely come back the next time we're in the area

I have always enjoyed a good rack of ribs. And this place does not disappoint me ever. The food is served fresh, the sides are delicious and the service is prompt. The place is is nice and easily accessible. My friend and I ordered the 'American platter' which had all varieties of meat but we substitued ribs for chicken and brisket. They have a wide variety of BBQ sauces which went well the ribs. If you are looking for a good BBQ fix in the area, this is the place!

If it were possible to give it 0 stars, I would. Possibly the most ghetto BBQ joint I've been to in my lifetime with horrible service and even worse management. Nothing annoys me more than having a grown, Middle Aged woman talking to me in a fake high pitched baby voice every time she interacts with me like our waitress was doing. Well, nothing other than her doing that while playing bubble pop on her iPad as we are ordering. Seriously, I can't make this stuff up. We literally had to ask her to stop playing or at least turn the volume off so my friend and I could converse. One positive note, the food came out incredibly fast; however, that somewhat frightens me to think about how that was possible. After the food arrived, I noticed a nappy black hair in my brisket. We got the manager's attention as he walked by and I showed him the problem. He said nothing and the bartender/waitress walked over took my plate and disappeared to the kitchen. She returned about two minutes later with a new plate of food (at least she claimed it to be) and gave a halfhearted apology. The ribs were not even lukewarm, but at this point, I was not sending anything back into this kitchen. At the end of the meal, the bartender asked the manager while they were in front of us for a discount on the meal and he told her no. She pleaded with him briefly and he again said no. Really dude, have that conversation away from the customers. To top the evening off, the manager did breakdown into a little song and dance of how low can you go by ludacris while behind the bar. Two of the employees were also rolling silverware near us and dropping the n bomb consistently in their conversation. What a ghetto place.

Not the best but far from bad, not bad for a traveling stop but would not go out of my way to go there again. Service was fair and portions were good.

We use to like Famous Dave's but this night the chicken & brisket was tasteless, dry dry dry, sauce was too sweet, service was bad and there was a roach crawling up the wall. And what's up with the small rectangular plates that are not sized for the portion. I'd prefer good food served on paper than bad food served on fancy plates. They just lost 2 customers and I'm calling the Health Department.

    (1)
  • Antonia S.

Typically I have always had great experiences at Famous Dave's but today was not one of those days I was very disappointed after coming home with my to go order to see I was missing the extra ranch I had asked for. It is completely unreasonable to expect someone to eat wing with only one small dinky cup of ranch.

    (2)
  • Jessica J.

Used to be my favorite spot until I saw a cockroach walk across of booth. Told the manager and he seems used to the complaint. He said I could go and that the food was on the house. Duh!

  • Daniel B.

Somehow I have never been to this chain. I thought the food was quite solid, service was quick and while it wouldn't be my first choice for BBQ (I much prefer the local shop that offers authentic local cuisine or at least only has 1-2 locations). One thing that did impress me was that the portion sizes were reasonable. I didn't leave hungry but I didn't feel like I had gorged myself like you often feel after leaving some other chains.

The service sucks and both times I went it sucked. However my chicken sandwich was good and I really like the sweet and zesty sauce. However, my husband was not happy with his because the waiter wrote down the wrote item and he got a burger. He wasn't suppose to and he was not impressed and he really likes BBQ. It was a little expensive

FD is great for takeout. We got the sampler appetizer and a full rack with the Wilbur beans and grilled pineapple steak as the sides. Oh, also a pint of the jalapeno mac and cheese because hubby love love loves it. To me, the ribs are pretty darn perfect. You can tell they smoke them a long time because the flavor really seeps through each bite. Their dry rub is good, not too overbearing or spicy. When you get takeout, you can snag as many of the extra BBQ sauce packs as you want (though I didn't add any on mine). The sampler had chicken strips, boneless wins, fried catfish, rib tips, onion strings, a plethora of sauces and the spicy pickles. Honestly, we ended up just eating that and a salad for dinner--the ribs and sides were our lunch today and there are STILL leftovers. All in all, an excellent bargain for good, tasty food. PS: if you're a cornbread aficionado, theirs is on the sweet side, served as muffins.

Went on a Friday nite and the restaurant was busy but not crowded. There are a lot of booths and tabled and a nice fireplace. Our waitress was great and made sure to check on us multiple times. Ordered the half rack of St Louis style ribs with collard greens and mac n cheese and a devil backbone Vienna lager to compliment the bbq. The ribs were a little on the salty side but very tender and not drenched in bbq sauce. The collard greens were great and not overly seasoned and had some sausage cooked with it. The mac n cheese is probably the best side they have available. They have a worst table in the joint special mon-thursday that gets you 50% off your bill. Will have to give that a try sometime. Overall great food, price and service.

Love Love BBQ!! We stopped in after some shopping and inhaled everything we ordered. The burnt ends are to die for. We ordered the special app which had the cheese drizzled over the burnt ends. I would prefer it without the cheese, but it was still yum! Service was great and I love the way this one is decorated! They have a cute "worst table", If you don't know what I am talking about, try them out and see for yourself! You can never go wrong with BBQ and they definitely cooked everything to perfection!

  • Steve B.

Went in for lunch on Saturday. I had the St Louis style ribs and burnt ends, my wife had the lemon pepper chicken - I know lemon pepper chicken at a BBQ joint! Anyway, I'm not a big fan of beef ribs, prefer baby back, but I tried them. Gotta say, they were the best beef ribs I've had. The burnt ends weren't really burnt ends, just over cooked chunks of brisket. Not tender, but grey through and through. I've had burnt ends many times and these weren't up to any of my previous experiences. My wife's lemon pepper chicken was tender and juicy throughout. Just a hint of seasoning could be detected. Macaroni and cheese was great - always a tasty side. Service was good.

Absolutely LOVED my 1st experience! Mercedes was our server. She was very nice and gave us a sampling of their sauces. From mild to buck wild! We got the feast for two. It is HUGE! The brisket was tender and tasty. The ribs, chicken and corn were good. We got one of their sauces to take home. The manager took his time to stop by and met with us. He was friendly and invited us back. My son got the Georgia pork sandwich from the kids' menu. He typically takes his time an plays around w/ his food. He DESTROYED it. He loved it. Food came out FAST! Staff was great. Food was even better. I recommend to all. I will be back FOR SURE. Absolutely loved my experience there, you will too!

Man oh man. How do you guys eat so much food?! For the three of us, 2 guys and 1 girl. we ordered way too many things without realizing how big the plates of food were gonna be. We ordered burnt bits (more fat than meat), wings, and one of those platters for 2 people. We don't eat pork, so all the pork was replaced with the beef. The food was just too much! The flavors were good but I just felt so overwhelmed afterwards. The customer service was great! I told the server it was our first time there, and he let us take a bottle of the hot sauce for free! So that made up for our heavy bellies.

It is so sad to see so many bad reviews by pretentious people who think that bashing a chain makes them look sophisticated. Just because it is a chain doesn't mean that it isn't "real BBQ". Famous Dave's is wonderful, and you can consistently get a great meal here. I love the rib tips and the spicy pickles that come with it. The ribs are great, tender, but they don't disintegrate. Many people think that is how they should be, but the mark of really good ribs are the ones that are tender, separate easily, but still keep their form, Dave's ribs are just that. I love the sauces and this is one of the only places I can find a good mustard based sauce. Overall, the best BBQ in the area, and nothing to scoff at just because it is a chain.

I love this place SO MUCH. The food is SO good (except if you are a vegetarian :X). This is a chain restaurant that I've been to on both coasts. The atmosphere is very cozy, dark, very country-like atmosphere. This particular one had lots of fishing memorabilia on the walls and a fireplace right next to us. The service was relatively quick and the food was delicious, as always. Famous Dave's is famous for their BBQ, especially their BBQ sauces. They have most of the sauces at every table for you to try and the menu indicates which dishes have won awards (a LOT of them). The sauces range from mild to burn your mouth off! If it is your first time, I recommend getting some sort of sampler platter. The last time I went, we went during lunchtime so they had lunch specials on the back of the menu which were pretty cheap (~$7-9). The regular menu prices are more like $15. There is a LOT of food for the regular items so I would go with a group and share. My favorite is the Georgia Chopped Pork for the meats and the Rich and Sassy for the sauces. I also really like the Wilbur Beans side dish. They also have a tiny store usually where you can buy their sauces and seasonings to go. I usually buy because you cannot get those sauces in Hawaii. The only thing you can get from them in Hawaii is a jar of their sliced pickles at Costco, which are delicious and I highly recommend.

One of my favorite restaurants. They never disappoint. Much better than 90% of the bar-b-que places I frequented when I lived in Dallas, TX Atmosphere: cozy / casual Price: Reasonable/Fair Food: EXCELLENT and consistently so. Food is always hot, delicious, and as ordered. The quality of the meats and so many great sauces to choose from. The meat is tender and tasty and the sides are equally good. It's hard to choose sometimes. The family take out options, while pricy, is a great way to feed 4 people or even the office. Good selections for kids as well. Service: Takeout - could be better. Usually one person so if there is a line, your food could be sitting on the counter for another 10-15 minutes while people in front of you scan the menu for what they want to order. Would be nice if they had someone checking for pickups / prepays. Service: Restaurant/Dining Area - Quick and friendly. Wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Very attentive, no complaints.

As far as BBQ in the Woodbridge area is concerned I'd say that this was pretty good. The customer service is of good quality and so was the food as well. I had the pulled pork and it was great. Most people leave here with massive quantities of leftovers to keep in mind that even though the prices are a bit higher you're also gonna have lunch leftover for the next day. The mac and cheese has corn in it which was strange. Minus one point for that. But on every table they have a large selection of sauces for you to try. Really cool feature. I'll be back sometime.

  • Brandon L.

Definitely the place to go for BBQ. They always send me coupons to my email so I can always Dave some money when I come here. They serve large portions of food for not much money. The business is decorated in a very old fashion way. Making it look like you're actually eating at a barbecue place from the old days.

  • D O.

We stop here maybe once or twice a quarter. Food is always good and the service is usually very good. The place is usually during the typical times and it does get a little crowded with the way the tables are set up. We always try to go during the off times between lunch and supper. The food is usually very good but on the salty side. I do not add salt to my food when cooking so take the with a grain of salt. Sorry, couldn't resist. There is plenty to go around and we usually go home with a to-go box so we don't stuff ourselves silly. If you decide you like the place, make sure you sign-up for their club so you get discounts. They will save you some considerable $$. There is a take-out service on the side of the building and they are pretty quick. It is best to call ahead or order on-line; gotta love the convenience. They also have a bar but we have not been in that part yet.

This place is great for big groups. I came here with my family while on vacation and we had the All-American BBQ Feast. It was delicious and satisfying for 5 people. For $70, it consisted of a full rack of St. Louis style spareribs, a whole bbq chicken, chopped pork, sausages, and all the trimmings of corn bread, corn on the cob, fries, etc... Everything was so juicy and tender, the meat practically fell of the bone. The one item that I absolutely loved was the pepper jack mac and cheese. It had a spicy kick to it and I washed it down with sweet tea. It's cool how they have about 6-8 different types of bbq sauceS set on the table. Service was friendly! The only thing I'll have to complain about is the cleanliness. The silverware had some crusty stuff on it and the tables were a bit sticky.

My family and I stopped in here after a day of shopping. It was close to the mall and it smelled good when we drove by. For a chain, the food was decent. Big portions, several different BBQ sauces to choose from, sweet little corn muffins... All in all, not too bad. The service, however, was awful. Our waitress did not have it together. It wasn't that busy, but our water/tea glasses stayed empty for most of the meal. We ordered a margarita that never came and she claimed we never ordered it. She brought us pulled BBQ instead of brisket, then insisted that we never ordered the brisket. I know people aren't perfect, but a simple "My bad, let me get that margarita/brisket for you" would have sufficed. Instead, she gave us attitude and acted like we were bonkers. Oh, brother.

Awesome food at this place. Always love ST. Louis Ribs wet and dry. Very good price. WILBUR BEANS.....YUM! Also, if you order a main platter, you can add rib tips for $3.99 and they are good. One more thing: The Pineapple BBQ sauce is super delicious!

There's three main spots that specialize in BBQ ribs in Woodbridge: Smokey Bones, Dixie Bones and Famous Dave's. I'm going to be a traitor to the local small business owner (sorry Nelson) and claim Famous Dave's as my favorite rib stop around my way. This location is right off the I-95 exit to Prince William Parkway not far from Potomac Mills. Famous Dave's is a national franchise, so I really don't need to get into what makes their BBQ so good. There's bound to be one near you wherever you are. The only thing I can say particular to this location is that it has been renovated to allow more seating and includes outside tables during the warmer months. BEST TIP: the All American Feast is a real bargain when entertaining guests. It can feed up to six people easy. It comes with a full slab of their famous ribs, one whole chicken cut up in quarters, a 1/2 lb. of either beef brisket or pulled pork, coleslaw, fries, baked beans, four sticks of corn on the cob and four corn bread muffins all for $59.99. You really can't beat that, and everybody gets a little somethin'.

Anyone that thinks this place is 5-star BBQ hasn't had real BBQ. My husband and I shared Babyback Ribs, St. Louis Style Ribs, Rib Tips and sides. Unfortunately, the BBQ sauce and corn muffins were the highlights of this meal. First of all, the ribs were the toughest, chewiest ribs I've ever had. Pork ribs should fall off the bone and I needed a pair of pliers to eat these things. My husband's Memphis dry-rub Babybacks were way better than the St. Louis Style wet ribs, but both ribs had the texture of boiled ribs, not like they cooked low and slow for hours. They have about 5 or 6 sauces and they were all great. Besides the delicious, sweet corn bread muffins, the sides were just okay. I would exhaust all BBQ options before I had to come back. If I did, I might try the Hot Links.

This is the first time that I've come here, and this place just rules! I went there with my family because my parents are always watching what they eat nowadays because of health issues. They are keen to some of the food on the menu that is healthy. Although I'm not a huge barbecue fan, I thought that my sandwich and side order of potato salad were very delicious. Besides beef barbecue, they also offer chicken barbecue and a couple of other chicken favorites. My brother ordered the wings which were half buffalo and half barbecue. His dinner included mac and cheese and coleslaw. I think everyone's dinner included corn bread, and there was plenty of corn also. What was interesting were the various barbecue sauces that were available on the table. Nobody could deny that they have the best sauce ever. We were fortunate to have a very good waitress who was very attentive and fast with the napkins and re-fills!

Some of the saltiest BBQ I've ever had. All of the sauces were bad, the sides were bad, the Texas toast was hard. Love eating Mac and cheese with my BBQ, but they put jalapeños and corn in their Mac and cheese, so didn't even get to enjoy that. The corn bread was by far the best part of the meal. Would much rather not have BBQ than eat here again. I gave two stars because the restaurant was fairly clean and the service decent

I love BBQ but this place for some reason doesn't sit well with my stomach. The food tastes good and is flavorful. But the three times that I have eaten here, it has tore my stomach up.

Ahh Famous Dave's and my long lasting love affair with its Georgia Pulled Pork. While I've frequented many 'a Daves establishment, the employees at the Woodbridge location have to be the nicest. Never pushy, and to date, I've never once stood in line (even if i was standing in line, I'd man up and sit at their funky corner table in the back... free dessert if you do!) Love the food, love the service. Plenty of parking, and if it does fill up, there's nearly adjacent parking in the Value City Lot.

Been here a few times now and I really like this place, good tasting food and a busy atmosphere. I've had a few assortment dishes and all the food is good BBQ...except for the corn on the cob, not much flavor. My most recent visit I was sitting in the bar area. It was rather packed and I could tell the 2 guys on duty were understaffed and were kinda scrambling to serve all the people. Jeramy was my server and he was quick and good at his job....he essentially was the only bartender serving the tables in the bar area. He was definitely moving with a sense of urgency, trying to get to all the tables. The other bartender though seemed rather slow or unaware that they were "in the weeds" to turn a phrase. I think his name was chris?..he had black gauges in his ears. So this review is just more so to say Jeramy did a good job under the circumstances and the other bartender needs to learn to move quicker and help out a bit more.

For a place that touts itself as a BBQ joint, the ribs were pretty underwhelming: dry and tough. The corn on the side was undercooked as well. Disappointing experience overall.

I only went here to pick up a gift card for someone I know who loves this place. The BBQ brisket is my fave but I've had better BBQ in MD (can't remember the name of the place but the far drive is worth the food)! The lady who rang me up for the gift card (at the pick up window in the far back/ right side if the restaurant) did not even acknowledge me until she was done reading a chart on a paper she was looking at. I hope my friend enjoys the gift card! I will not be dining here with him.

Far, far better than the Famous Dave's on Route 1 in Alexandria. The staff members here are friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic!

Never a disappointment from Famous Dave's! Tried the catfish fingers for the first time my last visit, even they were delicious. The other meats are amazing, that goes without saying. Chicken has great taste, sausage is good, and they have some excellent sauces to add to the meats. Sauces for the sweet lovers as well as the extra spicy lovers like myself. Sides are impressive as well; the mac n cheese and fries are favorites of mine but you can't go wrong with any of them. Banana pudding is definitely worth checking out as well. Famous Dave's is legendary.

Disappointed to see they have high fructose corn syrup in almost everything. This place was okay, slow but nice servers. Clean restrooms, moderate price, and was crowded when we went on Saturday.

We stopped in here for lunch during my visit to VA last weekend and I was thinking.. I live in TX - I don't see me liking a chain in the burbs of DC, but I stand corrected. We started with the nachos - which had beans and chili on them - in addition to all the regular toppings: cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, chicken, sour cream. I wasn't sure how they would be, but they were fantastic. We devoured them. I wanted to try things so I got the 2 meat lunch sampler with the georgia chopped pork and the bbq chicken wings and the mac and cheese. It was all really good - the mac and cheese had some kick from jalapenos, but it wasn't HOT really. The corn bread that came with the meal was sweet and not too dry. The pork was delicious and so were the wings. I even liked the garlic toast they put my pork on top of. Our waitress kinda sucked - that's why I took away a star. Other than that everything was great!

They get crazy ridiculously crowded on weekends, but the service is pretty fast and so there generally isn't too long of a wait. And the food is pretty darn good.

The only reason I am giving this review a 2 is because my steak was cooked perfectly. Other than that, it deserves a 1 star. The service was poor, ALL of my tables food was loaded with enough salt to preserve your insides and wasn't warm. The only thing I could manage to eat from the entire table was my steak and the grilled pineapple. I would not recommend this place to anyone nor will I be back.

How we got there: I know its commercial fast food BBQ. But after an eight hour drive from NY; it was right across the street from the hotel and the family wanted something other than McDonalds, but didn't want a big expensive dinner. What you want to know: Great selection of beers on draft (local micro and named brands) and wine. The service was fast - Jeremy did a great job and was very contentious making sure we got what we needed when we needed it. The onion strings were a little over cooked and crispy, but were good none the less. The kids and my wife tried the Huli Huli Chicken special. A good take-off from the classic Hawaiian Huli-Huli Chicken recipe. The corn bread muffins were exceptional along with the green beans. The baked beans were tasty and the kids loved the Drunkin Apples. I tried the combo that included 3 ribs, brisket and chopped pork. Not BBQ competition meat. I was suspect coming in to begin with - BUT - they did a good job. It wasn't just because I was hungry. The complaint by an earlier post that ribs need to have meet fall off the bone clearly indicates that they Do Not understand BBQ (must be Memphis in May fans and Not understand KCBS cooking). My ribs would have gotten a good 7 for appearance and 7 for taste One recommendation for the company: The menu has the hotness of the sauce's listed by the number of peppers; but when the menu is gone and there are 6 bottles in a rack with just names, it might be good to put the hotness rating on the bottles.

Boy do I crave Famous Dave's. It's been over 2 years since I've eaten here and it's only because New Orleans sucks when it comes to chain restaurants. Famous Dave's is great. Voodoo BBQ here comes nowhere near what Famous Dave's has to offer. The ribs, corn, cornbread, pulled pork. All so delicious!!

I'd call this OK, but not great. The service was friendly and helpful but slow. I ordered a St Louis style rib basket. The sides were moderate. The meat was a little chewy, I would suggest it should be cooked longer and slower. I've done ribs more tender at home, but it's work. It definitely wasn't fall-off-the-bone tender. However, the sauces were great - my favorite was the Texas Pit sauce. The price was moderate. I was really looking forward to a tasty tender meat fest. I ended up just a little let down with a tasty chewy meat fest. I wouldn't recommend that you skip this place, just that you take your expectations down a notch so that you do finish pleased.

Everytime my boyfriend asked if i wanted Famous Dave, my answer was always a no. im not a big fan of steak....but one day, i dont know what got into me. i actually wanted to try it. On our way back home from Potomac Mills we stopped by there and i ordered a sirloin steak with corn and mash potato. it was DELICIOUS! i would definitely go back and give this place another try.

I have not been here in years but I'd love to tell ya about this place. Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que is an amazing bbq joint. The food is great but the service is rather slow...but once you get your food...you forget about the service. If you go with alot of people, get the "trashcan platter". It comes with ribs, chickern corn, brisket, beans. I recommend this place.

Very well executed. Tends to get pretty loud and busy at times. Lunch specials run really late (4:30-5:30?). The pulled pork sandwich is great.

Great food! I enjoyed the 1/3 rack size St Louis style ribs with slaw and green beans and corn Bread. I cant imagine how my friend could eat a whole rack of ribs but I guess because they were that good! Love their sauces too. Service is most excellent here. Our waiter was fantastic. Can't remember his name but he looks like a young Chris Rock. Apparently he hears that a lot! I'll be back!

The ribs are ok. I have experience better in the Woodbridge Area (dixie bones for example) and having been traveling to St Louie's I have experience really good ribs (Super Smokers). I normally substitute the sides for a garden salad. The salad is pretty good and keeps the carbs intake (if you are on a diet) down. SERVICE -- SUCKS SWAMP WATER. I went twice to the restaurant. different waitresses on each occasion. First it took them for ever to take the order and then they forgot we existed. I decided to to carry-out since they are convenient for me on my way home. Bad idea. I place my order. I saw my order being taken out of the kitchen and put on the counter and sit there cooling down while the two bimbos behind the counter yap on the phone and with each other. I am avoiding chain restaurants now.

The quality of the food varies. The manager told me if I think the food sucks to let him know. The service also varies, sometimes good but other times most indifferent. And their BBQed chicken just tastes odd. They claim to have corn on the cob but it is not a cob but something less, cobette perhaps. And they have the WORST pecan pie I ever had. As though someone got a pie shell, dumped in a bunch of raw pecans and then served it. No sweet filling at all. And they put WAY too much BBQ sauce on the ribs so I tell them I want them necked which is what the menu says to do for no sauce and on three occasions I've waited about 20 to 25 minutes only to have the server bring out the ribs floating in sauce and they say 'oh, that's right you said you wanted them necked, so sorry' and so then it is another 20 to 25 minutes and they usually don't offer any compensation for taking almost an hour for your meal. But the buns at Dixie Bones suck and so this seems to be about the best BBQ in Dale City.

I have to agree, this place has good BBQ. The only item I haven't found is chopped pork the way some mom and pop places do it. It should come dry with the sauce on the side. That being said, I like going here.

The beef brisket is the best I've had, tender and ridiculously moist. Try it on the big dinner salad, and be sure to try the dessert sampler (the bread pudding is amazing).

What can I say, I love their BBQ. It is some of thee best around. I never expected a chain place to have good BBQ, but they do. The Texas Man Handler sandwich is my all time favorite

My wife and I absolutely love this place. Service is great and very friendly. Most of the time our food is on the table less than 10 minutes after ordering it. We normally order the BBQ chicken, all white meat and it is always tender and juicy. Their wings are good but not the best in the area...but if your at Famous Dave's, your not there to eat wings...Your there to eat their great BBQ.

Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que is an amazing place to go. The food is great, but what really tops it off are the sauces. If you have a party of more than 3, i'd recommend the trashcan platter for 4-5, it's amazing. The platter comes out with Ribs, Brisket, chicken, corn, coeslaw, beans, an AMAZING corn bread. The service is decent. The interior of the restaurant is pretty swell. I'd give this place a BIG recommendation if you're in the mood for BBQ and it's a great place for the family and kids!

  • Pamela P.

Based on my first and last experience at Famous Dave's I would not likely return. The service was crappy, the food was not memorable or even satisfying. There are other barbeque places around that are likely better, if one of my friends wanted to go here, I'd go and not whine and give them a fair shot at impressing me, but I'd never suggest it on my own

    (2)
  • Eric T.

The brisket is good and the chili is spicy with nice chunks of beef. I usually skip most of the sides. Big selection of sauces and prices are very good. Desserts are surprisingly good as well. This is not fine dining by any means but if you want some inexpensive flavor fireworks then this is your place. There aren't too many food options in Woodbridge so this is a solid choice. 3.5 stars for the food an extra .5 stars for being in Woodbridge lol.
