We took friends from NYC and WE LOVED IT! the service was fantastic, attentive to our needs and great personalities. We were having fun with the waitstaff and giving them a very hard time in a playful way and they were taking it in stride and had so much fun with us! Our waitress was on top of the whole meal. we were there for three hours and everything was prepared to perfection and delivered hot. we never had food delivered on top of a previous course and EVERYTHING was delicious. I had the pan seared scallops and the crust was amazing while leaving the inside buttery and succulent. If you have been thinking about going here and have not... it is worth the the three $$$ we will be back

I'd been meaning to try this place for a while! Stopped by on a whim around 7pm on a Fri. Opted for a high-top in the bar area! Very modern decor and nice atmosphere! Service was a bit slow! But the apps & cocktails were extremely delicious!! Burnt rib ends-tender & tasty! Steak tacos, tuna & caprese on point! Nice place for a cocktail & snack! Will definitely be back to try the main course & weekend brunch!!!

This is a very upscale, and very pricey, restaurant on the water. We used their check in offer and got a free appetizer, which was pretty tasty. The main course was incredible. We both got the fish of the day, which was tuna. It was sushi grade so I ordered it rare, and it was cooked just to my liking. The sides were very good as well. I tried the spinach, the Brussel sprouts (which were prepared very differently than I'd ever had them before- cut up out of their usual shape and in a bowl with pieces of ham and bacon) and the Mac and cheese. All were very good. The service was pretty great too, and he did a good job keeping an eye on us. At one point I moved my drink out of the way and was revisiting the drink menu and he came over and made sure that I didn't dislike the drink i got. He said since I was perusing the menu and I pushed my drink away, it looked like I was looking for something else. Very attentive. When it got to the end of the night he was a little harder to find, and by the time he came back again, we ordered dessert to go because we had to pick up the kids. That was a little frustrating, but overall a great server. We got the cheesecake (not on the menu, but he recommended it). Don't get it. It was one of the least impressive cheesecakes I've ever had, and cost about 7 bucks for a tiny slice. Don't know how the rest of their desserts are, but that one was definitely not worth it. All in all a very nice restaurant, but be prepared to pay at least 30 dollars a person. Since we ordered drinks and dessert it was almost 50 per person

Get the pork chop. Get it with bacon butter and your mouth will sing joyous songs of praise. Yelp had a great check in deal to get a free pimento cheese appetizer so .. Yay Yelp! Really tasty pimento cheese with their house made cracker (more like a lavosh). We started in the bar with a craft beer. Happy hour specials are only in the bar but we had time and the restaurant wasn't quite busy yet. Gorgeous restaurant and in an amazing location right off the water. Like I told you in the beginning. Get the dang pork chop. And get it with bacon butter.

I recently celebrated my birthday here at Thirty 7 North. As my birthday is a week before Christmas, it's usually difficult making reservations since company holiday parties typically take over party rooms or entire restaurants. However, my wonderful boyfriend was able to reserve a section for my birthday dinner for 10 to 15 people. The staff placed black dividers for parties throughout the restaurant, allowing for a private, lounge-type atmosphere. I also had personalized dinner menus! The food and drinks were great. The staff was attentive, accommodating and amazing. Thanks!!!

We picked this place based off yelp reviews and were not disappointed at all. It was almost empty on a Thursday evening which concerned us at first but it filled as we ate and we were glad to have the lovely space to ourselves for a bit. Service was solid, wine list was good and had some reasonable bottles. Everyone loved their meals-highlights included a corn soup that I am still dreaming of, a good romaine salad, shrimp and grits, tuna, the salmon, and Mac and cheese. The dinner ended with a fig cheesecake that was excellent. Highly recommend-if we were closer, we would visit again!

The perfect date night spot with your health in mind. Well mostly. As everyone already mentioned, they do have their own farm where they get their fresh produce from. So you can pretty much guarantee that your food is really fresh. With that in mind, you certainly will be paying the price for that freshness. I won't be suggesting any food items to get since they do chance their menu pretty frequently. Just know that they are all DELISH! Seriously, you can just taste the amount of love the chef puts into it. The place is a little bit more upscale so please don't show up wearing just a t shirt and jeans, unless you really want to feel under-dressed. It's a white tablecloth type of restaurant, so dress appropriately. They have a large private area in the back with its own glass doors that can be closed just for your party. If you reserve for a special occasion, they will even alter their menu to print a special message for your special someone. Birthdays included! Their service is a hit or miss depending on the number of people in your party, and who is serving you. They are all pretty polite, just a little slow on the refill of water on occasion. Not that I would even fault them on that at all, they can get busy, especially during weekend dinner hours. This wouldn't necessarily be my first pick due to the price range, but for a classier meal at the beach, hands down the go to spot!

Nicely appointed modern decor establishment with a separate bar and restaurant area. Our waiter was very professional and courteous the food was delightful. However the portions were a bit smaller than I would have expected. Specials at the bar did not transfer to the restaurant. I was very surprised to find the restaurant busy on a Tuesday reservations so would definitely be recommended. Even though the restaurant is on Long Bay pointe the only view out the windows is of the parking lot & fishing dock which is not very appealing. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

I last reviewed this restaurant earlier this year, but I have to add more. We recently used this place as our wedding reception and it was nothing short of spectacular. Jay and his staff took every detail and request and we were COMPLETELY satisfied with the level of service and flavors they offered for our wedding party. I mean..come on...any place that will accommodate making Maple Bacon Chocolate Cupcakes as our "wedding cake" deserves 5+ stars!! I cannot stress how highly I recommend this place! They have made us fans for life!

I gotta give them that 5 stars. When Julia A had a special meal coming her way, she picked this restaurant because of the farm to table concept and the focus on local, fresh, and decadent food. I had not even heard of 37 North before, but I was won over immediately when I heard they have their own farm. Our dinner experience was an embarrassingly large number of courses and a wonderful Malbec to finish it off. Inventive, gorgeously presented, and high quality ingredients was the running theme of the dinner. The ambiance was just the right balance of cool, stylish, casual, and modern. This is the perfect spot for drinks after work, first dates, or group get together. Service was flawless. My second experience with 37 North was the recent yelp event. They hosted a huge group, and I got to sample even more of what they have to offer. It was all incredible. Definitely on the pricier end, but a good splurge for those special occasions.

Thirty 7 North was an experiment for me and my wife. As we are burning off some of our Foodie weight we are trying to eat more organic, and generally healthier foodstuffs without sacrificing flavor and deliciousness. Thirty 7 North most certainly delivered on both counts. I had the pan seared flounder over collards.........sorry my mouth started watering just thinking about it. My wife had the grilled salmon over the sauteed spinach and both were amazing. Our server Melissa was friendly and great in fact we got the salmon on her recommendation. She was punctual with our drinks but gave us time to enjoy ourselves and our meal. But on top of that the ambiance was very laidback chic. Though the atmosphere was classy you don't feel like you need to wear a tie but you wouldn't be out of place if you did. Overall a great experience, in other words we will be back soon.

Thirty7N, is still one of my favorite places at the beach. For both their originallity and local first attitude to ingredients. Started my course with the chef's board. An assortment of 3 cheeses, grapes, and house made pickles, jelly and crackers. Here's our first miss of the evening, they didn't really tell me anything about the cheeses (other than, they weren't made in house!) While I was able to guess the blue cheese, the other two were a mystery. The pickles were great and the jelly went *perfectly* with the cracker and blue cheese! It was a nice change from other sweet pairings, like honey, that I've had in the past . So, the entre, sweet potato gnocchi. Plating, 5 stars, it was fabulous. Now... when I think 'sweet potato gnocchi' I think two things. First, gnocchi, which should have this sort of luxurious texture and a generous and flavorful sauce of some sort. Unfortunately, this plate was very dry. I had to scrape up what little liquid had pooled to the bottom and then the few oniony bits that were there to get one good bite. The second thing I think about is that sweet flavor profile from sweet potatoes. I mean, there is no vegetable out there that has a taste quite like it. I don't need it dripping in brown sugar and butter (although that doesn't hurt) but I need that sweetness. There was none of that here. So, really, these were just dumplings. Which is a shame, because it sounded so delicious! The biggest star on the plate were the vegatables, which were crunchy and had soaked up enough of the butter/sauce. Fortunately, the dessert was delicious, an olive oil cake with the most unique icing I've had along with some chocolate ganache. Fantastic. Also, 37N continues to shine in the service department. Despite a packed bar for a baby shower (of sorts?) I had two bar tenders assisting me at my table despite having an assortment of other tables outside to handle (plus making some great looking drinks). Both were charismatic and attentive. Also the manager is always there to answer questions and check that everything is going well. You can't dock anything for the professionalism of these folks. All in all, Thirty7 North remains one of my favorites, but still hasn't quite hit that five star level for me.

Our experience here was great. We went for a birthday dinner with 12 people at 7:00 on a Saturday night. Not overly crowed but had a good number of people. The restaurant is beautiful inside and has a large bar area. Beautiful decor and modern. Lots of tables that are nicely spread out but offers searing for groups. We were sat in the back room for the reservation for our party. Could've closed the doors to be private but we didn't. Very nice seating. The major thing I loved about this restricting is that their menu is fully locally sourced from local gardens or vendors within 100 miles and it changes seasonally. Everything is made from scratch and you can substitute anything for allergies or special food requirements because it is made to order. The food was delicious. There is an extensive wine list, draft beers and a good menu. Prices are kinda high but I was happy to pay for them for the fresh, local ingredients. Honestly no one had any food complaints and everyone was extremely satisfied with their food and taste. Can't wait to go back!

Such a hidden gem! I've lived down the street for a few years and had no idea they existed. I went during restaurant week and surprisingly they were empty in the restaurant. The bar was full and rather loud. There was a birthday and the patrons were drunk and loud.. kind of distracting. I have since heard that their happy hour menu is great... The manager was very knowledgeable about wine and that helped when making my selection. The waiter was great and he did recognize that the questions I was asking were out of his league, which is refreshing, he didn't try to fake it and brought in someone else. The menu was vast, but nothing caught my eye as a "must have". I like the specialty menus... fresh ingredients. .. not frozen. I did have the butternut squash bisque, which was phenomenal, however, I did not see that on their regular menu... it could be because it's seasonal, but no other soup caught my attention. I would like to try happy hour, perhaps the atmosphere is better and a tad less stifling.

We ate here since there was a party going on and we were still hungry regardless of the food being served. I love the location of the place since it's right on the water. Inside is modern with a pretty cool wine cellar you can see. Bar area is a great size to just chill in until you can be seated in the dining area. This place was serving a limited menu with the party going on. The boyfriend and I ordered the same thing - burger, truffle fries, and brussel sprouts with bacon all for about $14 or so. I was kind of like this better be worth the money for the price and when they serve this all in front of your face and it takes up a good amount of the table. Yeah, you get your money's worth. The burger was HUGE. I had to squeeze the thing down since the patty itself is like a barely flattened meatball. It came with some thick cuts of bacon and melty cheese. Noms! The star of my meal was the parmesan truffle fries. O-M-G! I love these! The amount they give you could probably satisfy a group as an appetizer, but I got to eat all of this myself! Good amounts of truffle and salt for that extra flavor. The brussel sprouts were were served with bacon and looked like a salad when it's served. Cooked enough that there's still a bit of a crunch to it. The meal completely satisfied both of our taste buds. I think we'll be back to enjoy some Wine Wednesdays in the future.

This restaurant has been around since 2012, but doesn't get a lot of attention. Too bad because the food, service & atmosphere are outstanding.

I was invited to go to the Yelp event and it was fun! I loved the drinks and the food that we sampled. The atmosphere impressed me also, just an all around great place. We ordered a few things off the menu and they came promptly out which really impressed me with how big the crowd was. I definitely want to come back for dinner when I am in the VA Beach area again

Service was really slow at first. They did seem to try to make up for it. But I ordered a salad that was suppose to have crispy chicken in it. It wound up being smoked chicken and s thigh. Not breast. I could not eat. I did eat my salad. But now t the chicken. It was so fleshy. The guy said it was breast but it was a pick. I didn't understand. When I got home I looked it up and it means smoked. Why not say smoked. But the menu I had said crispy chicken. Crispy chicken to me means fried. They didn't take it off the bill either. No worries. I'm not ever going back in there for good again. Not a very friendly place

Recommend by a friend, amazing place! They have their own farms, grow and raise as much of their own product as possible. The staff know the menu well enough to give you great recommendations, food is fresh and powerful, full of flavor. Lots of pride and passion in that kitchen and they're destine for great success.

Walking in, I was very impressed with the place. It doesn't have the views One Fish Two Fish has nor does it have outdoor seating but it still manages to remain chic and upscale. The wine/glass list is okay (really, no unoaked chardonnay or dry white option besides one acidic sauvignon blanc?) but their cocktail list looked really creative and fun. There was some lavender citrus cocktail I look forward to trying once I'm no longer pregnant. We ordered the gruyere flatbread and halibut ceviche apps. The flatbread was savory, although it got a bit monotonous towards the end but the ceviche was amazing and bursting with so many different flavors. This was a special, however, so it may not always be featured unfortunately. For entrees we ordered the scallops and trout. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the bed of spahgetti squash had bacon in it which I found to be a bit too tough to continue eating but overall it was a solid dish. The trout dish was beautifully prepared and had a bunch of different textures and flavors, also a standup dish. The service, ambiance, and food all come together here for an overall delightful dining experience. They have a cool bar area that I will probably be sitting at the next time I return.

First time dining at 37 North, and we had a rather large party. It was no problem for the AMAZING staff at this restaurant. The manager Jay, and head Chef Jamie were more than helpful and accommodating with our group. The inside of this place is gorgeous, especially the bar area. It is great for a casual or classy time. The drinks are top notch and the food is exceptional!!! I tried the ribs as an app, wow they were so good and for a meal I had scottish salmon with mushrooms and sprouts, it was great!! I would suggest this place to anyone, and cannot wait to return. Great time!! THank you!

Bottom line (top line?) is that this place has above average food and below average service. Really puts a damper on the meal if you're always trying to flag down the waitress for food or drinks. It's got a dynamic menu; fresh and well-seared scallops, ribs with an interesting asian twist, grilled skirt steak and even just straight up traditional fried chicken. In general, the food has almost always been prepared/cooked well. My only issue food wise is the fried bacon... covered in buffalo sauce out of a jar and ranch dressing... couldn't even taste the bacon. Good selection of craft beers and interesting cocktails. Here's the downside. I've been five times. One time had a great waitress; polite, friendly, attentive and knew the menu and specials inside and out. But there rest of the time the service has been lackluster. One waitress seemed to barely exist and when she was around, didn't know much about the menu and looked like she was constipated. Maybe she was. Similar issues with other servers to some degree. So just to re-iterate. The food is pretty good... just haven't had the best luck with service. I'll keep coming back for now.

Thirty 7 North is a gem! This is my go-to for special occasions in Virginia Beach, but I recently learned that they have amazing happy hour specials in the bar for more low-key evenings. Hand crafted cocktails, friendly service, and the perfect amuse with every visit - what more could you ask for? Their farm-to-table approach is not an act. Most of what you see on their menu comes straight from their farm, they grow their own herbs, and their seafood is sourced locally and delivered fresh daily. Plates are presented beautifully, so your dish always look good - but tastes even better! Every item I have tried here has been truly delicious. I recently tried the (very affordable) Sunday brunch and was not disappointed. Gorgeous fruit, homemade biscuits and biscotti, and the perfect cup of coffee will ensure my timely return. Located on the inlet, the view is lovely as well. If you haven't been yet, go now! For a special dinner in the main dining room or casual cocktails and small plates in the bar, Thirty 7 North will not disappoint.

We've eaten here numerous times. The food is good, but their cocktails are really special. The jalapeno vodka is amazing in a blood mary. I once ordered something with a berry ice cube that was delicious. Dinner is great, but appetizers and drinks are really special.

This place is delicious, they produce and harvest their own foods for their dishes from the restaurant owned farms. If they can't produce their own, they buy local. Great atmosphere. Great private room, and delicious food.

Where's the waitress?? Hard to get the waitress' attention even though it's really not that busy for brunch. Finally got her to get salt, pepper, sweeteners, butter, and syrup. Otherwise the brunch food had some real hits. The bacon is fantastic as well as the biscuit. The grits were really good. Chicken and waffles were pretty decent with a good syrup used. My friend's shrimp and grits were delicious. Overall I'd come back but maybe sit at the bar instead.

It was my first time at this restaurant. I only gave it a 4 stars cause the hostess were not very friendly, almost as if we didn't belong there. They didn't seemed very experienced. Anyways, our server, spence, was awesome. He was very informative and good suggestions. The food was so tasty and just full of flavor. I had flank steak with chimichurri sauce and chorizo. I gotta tell you, my medium well steak was right on point, they cooked my steak better than any good steak house I have been. The side veggies out of this world good. The tuna poke, awesome, the flavor combinations were just intriguing. I can't wait to come back to this restaurant, it sits right on a dock and the interior is simple and beautiful. Infused vodkas were awesome. I would highly recommend this place to any foodie that loves good food and good prices. !!! Great job thirty 7

Amazing! amazing! Amazing!!! First time here tonight and the experience and food were amazing!!! The atmosphere was very vibrant and conducive to a causal conversational experience. The food was excellent, not a grits fan but tried the shrimp and grits, turned out to be Delicious!! Plus can't say enough about the super friendly waitstaff. Unfortunately they didn't have the bread pudding that night due to the chef not being pleased with how it turned out so they offered us a free dessert instead!!! Not many businesses will stick to their reputation as much as these guys to offer a free dessert in order to ensure they had happy guests. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants!! Plus did I mention they were farm to table? How awesome!!!

Absolutely spectacular. Our waiter Darren was incredibly efficient as well as knowledgeable about the cuisine and the local ingredients they use! Pimento cheese app was beyond amazing. My boyfriend had the scallops and i had the ahi tuna special. Both spectacular. Can't wait to go and try brunch!

Disappointing, service was slow, 93 minutes to get dinner and it was wrong, tuna was cold, scallops were rubbery, 50% discount on bill, they blew it tonight. great location, lousy service and food.

This is by far one of the best restaurants in town. Every dish that comes out of the kitchen is a work of art. I had the rockfish served with red couscous and grilled brussel sprouts recently and it was amazing. I would also recommend the tuna poke appetizer. It's a chunk of seared tuna rolled in a beet puree on a tempura-fried sweet potato biscuit crowned with a slice of avocado. In addition to the incredible food there is also art being unleashed behind the bar. Whether you want a great beer off the tap or a bloody mary to wow your tastebuds, they have it all here. And they've got an extensive selection of really great wine. Lastly, they get all their produce from local farms. Sometimes it is difficult to find a restaurant committed to supporting local farmers but hopefully the trend will catch on. The wait staff is top-notch, efficient and friendly, and I cannot wait to go back for another wonderful experience.

  • James L.

These guys have it all, ambiance, incredible food, and excellent wine list, and great service. To top it all off, they grow quite a bit of their own food on their own farm in Virginia Beach! Talk about buying local...

  • Jullyann J.

EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. They only use local farm goods. I don't know the names or ingredients of anything they served me (I'm not that fancy) but everything was delicious! The service was impeccable despite the valentines day craziness. And the check came with a red rose. :) decor was modern and classy.

Went here for our 23 wedding anniversary. I had not heard of them before but a quick Yelp search made me think Thirty 7 North would be a nice place to have dinner. We arrived a little before our reservation and was asked to wait at the bar for a while. The bar was pretty full but it did not take long to get a couple of drinks. I was a little surprised because the actual restaurant was less than 50% full but I felt it was fair because we were early. The restaurant is very open but still has sort of a romantic feel. Waitress came over quickly with a small snack of Brie on a house cracker (nice touch). Took our drink order then returned with our drinks and the specials. We ordered the burnt ends appetizer which was basically two baby back ribs with some bbq sauce. It was a little cold and not very flavorful. I ordered the tuna and my wife got the scallops. I remember discussing that it was just "ok" and was a little disappointed because we were expecting to have our socks knocked off. Meal was average, like something you could get at Chicks or Bubbas down the road. The service was a little slow (again not very crowded), my wine glass sat empty for quite a long time before I was offered another. Everyone was very nice but was not the kind of experience I was expecting. All in all it was probably a 2.5 star experience and would probably not come back even with the limited choices we have in Hampton Roads. I travel extensively with my job and have had the opportunity to eat at many top line restaurants in New York, Chicago, Dallas, etc and was expecting much more.

I came here for my birthday this month and was amazed. The drinks, food, service, ambiance was incredible. Our server was Grace and even though she was busy she made my birthday feel special! My only issue was we had made an 8:30pm reservation, much in advance and we waited about 20 mins until we were seated. I suppose that comes with the territory on a Saturday evening but the bar was so packed we couldn't even grab a drink. Overall, wonderful time and we will certainly be back!

This is the restaurant where I met my fiancee. We were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary, and although we saw a couple of negative reviews, decided to come back to a place that holds some great memories for us. Clearly, whoever has left a negative review for this restaurant is unqualified to review food. We arrived 15 minutes early, but were shown to our table immediately anyway. The wonderful lady who I assumed to be the hostess actually turned out to be the sommelier. Our server greeted us promptly, explained the night's specials and offered to go over the menu with us. He pointed out a couple of recommendations and grabbed the sommelier for us to place our wine order. The somm listened attentively to our (admittedly specific) preferences and made an excellent recommendation for us. We began our meal with the oysters on the half shell, which were sublime bayside oysters with an apple vinaigrette. For our mains, my fiancee had a scallop dish, and I had a local rockfish with roast pumpkin and Swiss chard that came highly recommended, and with good reason. We finished our meal with a chocolate dessert, served with multiple expressions of chocolate, including a mousse and an espresso-charged gelato. With dessert, I requested a favorite digestif of mine, Fernet Branca. While they were out of Fernet that evening, the bartender came over and introduced me to a different amaro which absolutely fit the bill. All in all, I can not speak highly enough of 37 North, the food, service or staff. With a few small gestures they have won us as loyal fans and customers for years to come.

It's always a nice dinner at Thirty 7 North. We had deep fried bacon that was absolutely amazing. The wine selection is exquisite and service is equally good. It's definitely worth a try.

I don't even have the vocabulary to express how good this place is. The menu changes all the time because they own their own farm from which they get their produce from. I had this pumpkin and Swiss chard combination along with a locally caught rockfish and I thought to myself... What kind of orgasmic fish did I just bite into? I'm not over exaggerating in the least, it was that good. Appetizers, wine, entrée and desert were a 10/10. The drunk ladies drinking wine and the awesome waiter were good entertainment for the night so I definitely recommend this place.

Not a big fan of reviewing restaurants as most don't rate anything much more then just average. Having said that Thirty 7 North was by far the best experience I have had in the 10 years I have lived in Hampton Roads. It is one thing to find a place with good food, great atmosphere or great service but in my experience impossible to find all three until I discovered this place. I will be going back and telling all my friends about the great dinning experience.

I came here recently to check it out after hearing good things from friends. We decided to check out thier Sunday brunch. It is in a nice location but their outdoor seating overlooks just the parking lot and a small sliver of water, not much of a view. The brunch menu is extremely overwhelming, only 7 items or so consiting of chicken and waffles, french toast and eggs I was very suprised there were no benedicts, no omlettes, no quiche or any dishes featuring seafood. We ordered mimosas to start and I was denied because my license was expired (I had recently lost mine and was using my old one until the replacement arrived in the mail), the server told me she couldn't accept an expired ID, I then showed her an expired military ID and a government ID which also happened to be expired. I explained to her my situation and she said she would check with the manager. The manager never came out to check for himself (which I have witnessed other resturants do if a patron has an expired ID) and told the sever not to serve me. I understand the issue but would have preffered to have the manager tell me and not just send the poor nervous server out. I understand ABC laws and that restaurants need to be careful when serving alcohol, but I had 3 photo IDs. Since we couldn't enjoy mimosas and weren't pleased with the brunch menu we ended up leaving without eating or drinking anything. Maybe we will give this place another shot for dinner, I do hope they expand their brunch menu with some creative options.

This is my fav local seafood spot! I've eaten here for dinner on many occasions and even did a wine tasting they had a couple of months ago. Food is EXCELLENT and atmosphere is perfect if you want to get a drink at the bar, have a nice dinner or lounge outside on the deck. Location is beautiful. It's the perfect place for fine dining and I always leave satisfied.

This was our first visit here. We believe it has been open for about 1 1/2 years and replaces an Italian restaurant that used to be in the same location. Inside has a nice bar which was busy on this rainy Friday night. The dining room is nicely decorated and has a view of part of the Lynnhaven Inlet on one side. The menu is quite creative and boasts local farm to table products. Melissa, our server was informative, friendly and did a very good job. My martini was prepared properly. The oysters on the half shell I ordered were as described, a salty flavor, given their harvest site. My baby back ribs were fall off the bone but much spicier than I prefer. The side of collard greens was also quite spicy. My wife's wedge salad was good. The chicken breast she ordered was butterflied at her request. She should have ordered a compliment to round out its flavor since it is prepared in boiling water then lightly grilled to brown it up a bit. The mashed potatoes that came as her side were a bit dry and also could have used a complement. We both had forgotten about the complements. It was too bad Melissa didn't remind us when she took our order. The vanilla crème dessert was delicious.

The food was ok. Lacking zest. Not great as it has been in the past. Meat was over cooked. Got a rotten nasty clam full of mud in one of the meals. How does that happen?Portions seemed shrunken. Took over an hour for the food to arrive with plenty of empty tables. Ate my meal without a drink. Waitress bailed on us. Great place but struck out especially for a Saturday night.

The quintessential dining experience and nothing less. This new hot spot is located next to One Fish, Two Fish right on the water--come by boat or car. When you walk in, there is beautiful bar on the left with comfy-cozy bar stools and a few cush bar tables. The bar opens at 4 daily while the main restaurant is available starting at 5PM. The main dining area is gorgeous and open. I love the modern chic light fixtures and the attention to detail on this renovation of the previous La Marinella. They have a lovely array of wine to start the evening off right. The chef prides himself in trying to use local ingredients, including produce and freshly caught seafood for this Modern American menu. I was lucky enough try a whole spread of food--I went with about twenty people and, since they all know the foodie that I am, they were all kind enough to share with me. I find it hard to name a favorite appetizer--I loved the flatbread with bubbly goat cheese, yellow & red tomatoes, and shrimp. The tuna is nice and simple, diced into a generous bowl with a hint of arugula. The clams and scallops are also highly recommended but I didn't get to try these yet--now on my to do list. Now on to the entrees. Since eating here last night, I have not been able to stop thinking about the pork belly, which compliments the pork loin--this is definitely my favorite entree thus far, but I am a huge pork belly fan so perhaps I have some bias-LOL. I had seen the menu ahead of time online, and knew instantly that I had to try the gnocchi (as I have appropriately nicknamed "Knock you socks off" gnocchi). This gnocchi is homemade and baked with goat cheese, divine oyster mushrooms, olive oil, spinach, and yellow & red tomatoes to give it a real burst. The crabcakes are lumptolumptuous and paired with coleslaw. The shrimp are kickin with polenta (way better than shrimp & grits). Our waiter said the salmon was his favorite--it looked gorgeous but I didn't get to try it myself. Everyone that ordered the skirt steak or the Hereford beef tenderloin was well satiated. There is definitely something for everyone in your party. This place is perfect for groups, date night, or girls night out. Just what Virginia Beach needed.

Went for drinks and appetizers after work and everything was delicious. Their version of nachos with pork BBQ and guacamole was awesome- I also recommend the buffalo shrimp. I had an awesome espresso martini there too.

A must try! So delicious! And the chefs are passionate about presenting new and exciting entrees all the time. If you really want a meal that is different, fresh, and will make your taste buds pop, you won't be disappointed. The interior is also modern and comfortable and the staff are attentive and very knowledgeable. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

We tried Sunday brunch after reading a nice blurb in the Virginia-Pilot. We loved the place - the food was great, with obvious attention to detail. They. Make. Their. Own. Bacon. And they do it well, and serve thick slabs of the wonderful stuff. I loved the attention to detail. I had shrimp and grits, the best I've had in a long time, and the presentation was terrific. My son had chicken and waffles (I stole big bites) and my wife enjoyed the breakfast sandwich. All was simple but well prepared and extremely reasonably priced. Tops for me was the Bloody Mary Bar. I hadn't seen one of these before. They gave me a large glass with ice and vodka, then set me free to attack a series of tasty ingredients. I added some tomato juice, a little horseradish, tobasco, bleu cheese stuffed olives, and a really great marinated green onion. I asked the bartender about the onion, and here was an example of the staff's pride in detail - he gave me a detailed explanation of the way they prepare it; all just for one ingredient on a cocktail bar (I kinda forget the list but it seems like it included sake, mirin, mustard powder, anyway, it was delicious). I could have added other flavors of olives, cornichons, peppers, worstershire sauce, cucumber strips, etc. Its a pretty setting near the water, attractive decor, friendly staff, and we didn't have to wait. We'll be back for sure, next time to try dinner (it looks like they keep a nicely stocked wine cellar). Oh, and the three breakfasts, coffee, tea, OJ and bloody mary all came to about $50 bucks.

The food was cold and the wine menu is mediocre/overpriced. Unless you wanna over pay for food, drinks and atmosphere that should be average prices I suggest going to another restaurant in the shore drive area.

Thirty 7 North is really coming into its own. I had a business dinner there last night and I was absolutely blown away by what the kitchen produced for us. I primarily eat vegan but don't get really excited when all a kitchen can do is throw a bunch of their sides together on a plate and call it an entree. That is absolutely not what they're doing at Thirty 7 North. Last night they prepared a warm asparagus salad with shaved radish and micro greens for a starter and a main of morels, fiddlehead ferns, and ramps over a bed of perfectly cooked rice. Paired with a glass of rosé (okay, 2 glasses) it made for a perfect springtime meal. The oysters and grilled halibut that my dinner guest had was equally well thought out and prepared. The wine list continues to be a standout and the atmosphere of this place is appealing. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Highly recommended.

3.5-3.75. Fri/Saturday there is live music. We went for appetizer and dessert. It's a touch more fancy... Hence less "bar food" more small, artsy food. It was good though. Pretzel bites were tasty, not out of this world, but good. Fried goat cheese was def good, however it's just cheese. Much better if its spread on something... Like the pretzels or flat bread pizza. The flat bread pizza is fantastic. My fav app out if what we got. It's dinner size for a lady or guy who doesn't eat an insane amount. It's probably about 2.5-3 slices size of a regular delivery pizza. Our table also got olives, which I didn't try bc I don't like olives, but they were all eaten. For dessert we had bread pudding - it was okay, a little dry. Also had the apple crisp which was pretty awesome.

I was in town on business we decided to go to Thirty 7 North for dinner. What a fantastic choice we made. To start out we had ordered appetizers and shared them with everyone at the table. We had jumbo shrimp, Lynnhaven oysters with a cranberry sauce and braised short rib appetizer. All we're were fantastic. For the main course I had the tuna which was done to perfection and quite possibly could be the best tuna steak I have ever had. For dessert I had the Chocolate Peanut Butter S'Mores and it topped off the night with perfection. I can't wait to go back.

37 North is a farm to table restaurant... that is SO FREAKING COOL! I saw them making their pasta right there, in house... actually rolling out the dough and cutting the dough into noodles. Now where else does that in Hampton Roads??? They make their bread there - even their lavender puree is made from the lavender they grow at their OWN FARM. My friend tried to sell them on his food distribution service and they don't use 1 food distributor because they use their own farm for all products. Anyway - I have not had ONE bad meal here from the appetizers (the jumbo shrimp are to die for) to the entrees (the skirt steak and sirloin are my favorites) to the dessert (love their bread pudding). And my server was great. The restaurant owner even came over and gave us a free little appetizer! Oh... did I mention their wine??? Ugh... so good! Perfect date night, family meal, holiday dinner... girls night!

Had a wonderful meal Saturday night but the service was awful. We waited 2 hours for our food; when it finally arrived, it was great. The table was served two bottles of wine almost immediately but when I tried to order an individual glass, I waited 10 minutes and then was asked what I wanted by a cranky waiter. Reason given for the slow service was that the kitchen had gotten a large table order wrong but they seemed to be feeding and clearing tables around us rather quickly. A lot of money for such poor service. I'll give it another chance though because WHEN we got the food, it was all great.

We went here for Father's Day brunch. As previously noted in other reviews, the menu is limited so if you have a specific brunch dish in mind I'd check out the menu online so you won't be disappointed. The restaurant obviously prides itself on in-house preparation from scratch and locally sourced organic products. They had a corned beef hash special, which one of our party ordered and said it was delicious. My son and I both got the breakfast sandwich and our server pointed out that everything, including the sausage, was made in house from scratch. I'd say pretty much everything on the menu is either grown by them or purchased locally. For example, my husband ordered the french toast because the berries used for the seasonal pancakes were past season. (They substituted chocolate chips for the berries). He loved the french toast and the in house bacon looked more like triangular pork bellies, which he enjoyed. Unless you have a HUGE appetite, you may want to consider sharing the breakfast sandwich. My 26 year old son couldn't finish his........it came with a beautiful side of mixed greens with shaved baby beets and radishes. We ordered a side of their breakfast potatoes - a mixture of various types of potatoes seasoned with peppers, onions, salt and pepper among other herbs. They have a small do it yourself Bloody Mary bar, lots of unusual, interesting options. We don't live locally, but if we did we would definitely be back to try dinner. Also as noted in other reviews, there's really no outside seating - a few high tops along the side facing the parking lot. Our seats in the dining room overlooked what appeared to be a working fish processing area, quiet on a Sunday. Our server, Melissa, was excellent and personally toured the Bloody Mary bar with me :)

One of the best places in Virginia Beach. The location is great - there is some outdoor seating overlooking the docks. The atmosphere is sophisticated, the service is good, and the food is phenomenal. The beef tenderloin is one of the best cuts of meat I've ever eaten; and the fish is always perfectly prepared. They also have a good selection of lighter fare dishes available at the bar, if you're not looking for a formal dinner. Thirty7 North has quickly become my "go to" spot for both a casual after-work drink/meal or a romantic dinner.

We were very satisfied with our meals and the service. I have never had such an amazing burger before. The waitress was great as well. The head chef did not let us down at all, he even made it a point to ask how our food was. Not to mention it was a great atmosphere. I will be going here plenty more times to come.

The menu at 37North is refreshing. I have never had an ordinary meal, it has always been beyond my expectations. The wine selection is spectacular and Jen the sommelier will assist with the perfect pairing. If you haven't been, make a reservation now. You will not be disappointed!

Ate here friday night. Food was spectacular. There were 8 of us so we all, as good foodies, took bites of eeryones food. APPS The clam appetizer is scrumptious. The oysters Rockefeller (on special) were the best i have ever had. The fried shrimp app was great...big shrimp, great batter. DINNER I ordered the pork chop...it was very very tasty, well seasoned and cooked. The side items thAt came with it were also very tasty and accompanied it very well. I wanted to order the flounder, but it has a red pepper cream sauce...which I'm not fond of. The grouper dish was delicious The chicken dish was delicious, great bbq sauce on it Skirt steak dish was ok, the chimichuri paste green garnishment was over powering and detracted from the steak. DESSERT Coffee Pana Cotta : OMG to die for CHAI something sponge cake: super delicious CHOCOLATE tort: decadent rich and chocolately STAFF it is a new restAurant so they have a few kinks to work out. Our server, the doctor, was great. The whole staff work well together, EXCEPT when it came to table numbers and seating positions. At one point i was staring at a duck dish that was meant for the table behind me....they will get it, but they should already have table numbers and seating positions hammered out.

Anticipation was building prior to dining at our new local 'hot spot'. The newly designed interior is an organic modern feel, the walls and openness, combined with perfectly dimmed lights = coziness. Servers are extremely attentive & very pleasant nonetheless. The beverage list was exceptional and my martini was perfectly bruised. I particularly enjoy the stem wear collection awaiting your particular beverage choice. I'll add, the snack size menu is fantastic! We had fried Rockfish belly tacos & they were divine! Also recommend Tuna poke & the charred Caesar was BEST OF - seared romaine heart, pickled anchovies...need I say more? On to the main course...crab cakes were delicious, but also small like the flounder dish. I'd guess the crab cakes and flounder portions were both 6oz of protein & 25+ dollars...but damn, quality is expensive & that's what we got. Guests got the skirt steak which was tasty. Looking back I should have gotten the pork - Love pork belly. Dessert was the best part and thank goodness for it because we were still hungry. The peach selection was fantastic and the crunch of the vanilla variety was very enjoyable. To sum it up...great flavors, but I wanted MORE! Will definitely return for a cocktail or if someone else is picking up the tab.

My second visit, but had the same waiter and same terrible experience. I did not write a review last time, because I thought I should give it a second chance. But now I realize it's still the same bad experience. First, the server filled my water and nudged my hand out of the way to slide the glass in front of me. It was subtle, so I just let it slide. Then he promised bread and butter to start. After 10 minutes of waiting, I asked for the bread and butter. He put his hands up in the air and said he was going to bring it out with the salads. After getting the bread and butter, the salads arrived. After a few bites, my wife noticed that the kale salad, was actually all arugula greens. She then stopped the waiter and asked if this was someone else's salads because it's arugula, not kale. Without missing a beat, he immediately responded with complete confidence that it was most definitely kale, and it was our kale salads. He then stated that he will bring over a menu for us to see. At that point I realized that he was just lying because the usual response for a server who was not sure, would be to take it back and ask the chef, not show us the menu?!? After a few passes he realized that we knew this salad did not contain any kale and asked him about it again, he replied that the chef actually had changed the fresh greens of the day and did not tell the servers. At that point I was done with his incompetent and rude behavior. We finished our meal and left. A server shouldn't be what drives a bad review for a restaurant, but he was so terrible and rude for a higher class restaurant, that he affected the whole dining experience. And the sad thing is... he was training a new waitress during this whole ordeal. I hope she doesn't pick up his bad behavior.

Went for Mother's Day dinner at 7:30pm. They were only serving a "brunch menu." Doesn't make sense for that time of night. Service was average. I'd hope they would have more to offer in the future.

While being a pricier restaurant, you get what you are paying for: amazing food in an amazing atmosphere. We were shocked at how good everything was, and we'll be back for our next special event dinner.

Nice place with excellent staff. However, meal quality and taste is lacking for cost. Wife had trout with various vegetables and everything had a very strong fishy taste. I tried some of her vegetables and it took all night to get the strong fish taste out of my mouth. Tried the restaurant twice but won't return. Too bad because the staff tries hard but the product doesn't match their efforts.

I've been here several times, and have ordered the seafood, steak, and soups, and I have been happy with every item. The wine list is also great and seems to change frequently. They also have a great bar area so you can go and have an appetizer with a glass of wine instead of a entire meal. I am so glad this place opened!

Ok so I have to respond to some earlier reviews, mainly from mid to late 2012... 1) This isn't a kids restaurant. It's for adults or groups looking to have upscale experience with fine high quality food with respectable portions. If your looking for 2500 calorie plus meals, stuffed for hours feeling go to an all you can buffet or the local mexican restaurants. 2) I will use this analogy, If you were to fly first class on Air France don't expect to pay coach prices. You get what you pay for! 3) This is an upscale restaurant so yes you will need to have a business casual or above dress code. It is not a pretentious establishment but you need to have some class. Dress nice... no t-shirts or sandals. 4) The previous restaurant (La Marinella) doesn't even compare so don't even try. The food was decent under the previous owners and is ten times better now! 5) The newly updated decor is fantastic, chic, classy and very romantic. So in closing, the menu is fantastic, the food quality is stellar and the service is great. The wine list is superb (Caymus, Opus, Silver Oak, Peter Franus etc) and the bar is classy. The current establishment is light years above of what it used to be (La Marinella) so if you are looking for a fantastic dining experience here in Va. Beach this is the place!! Thirty 7 North is equal to or above the level of Zoes, Aldos, Terrapin and The Cellars at Church Point. A++ in our book and excellent job Thirty 7 North!!!!!!!!!! Keep it up! P.S. I don't work there, just a loyal customer.

This is my new favorite spot and I am sending many clients. 37 is fresh and new. The staff is well trained and very friendly. It is very open and the design is so unique. The price point is so reasonable. The apps are very fresh and different. Try the flat bread and the scallops, so great. The beef tenderloin was amazing and the scallop potato amazing! I loved the whole experience. It is laid back and very comfortable. This is a spot you will go many times. Dont forget to have dessert the cheesecake is to die for, very different....I dont want to give it away.

Went there later on a Saturday night for dinner; party of 5 with 1 child. Positives: 1) great atmosphere; 2) very friendly; 3) interesting menu; 3) great wine list; 4) great desserts. Negatives: 1) service fair - brought child's dinner last; 2) some portions very small - had the barbecued chicken and had to look very hard to find the chicken. Portions about 70% of what they should be for the price point. 3) food only warm, not hot. I will say that others in our party enjoyed their meals (grouper and crab cakes). But overall, this place seems to be trying to be something it not yet is. If they hope to be successful, they have work to do in terms of service, portion size and delivering meals simultaneously and hot. If they don't respond to this and other recommendations, I predict we'll see yet another eatery at this spot by 2014.

Stopped by to check out the brand new 37 North. As big fans of the previous restaurant in that location, La Marinella, we were hopeful that this would soon be our new favorite. Unfortunately it was not to be. The new place is more upscale with a more austere, formal feel. It was definitely not as comfortable. The wait staff was friendly, but not particularly attentive and we were never greeted by the manager even though there was little crowd. Surprising for a new place trying to build clientele. We had happy hour drinks and a few appetizers. HH drink prices were reasonable, but not great, and they do have a nice selection of draft beer. The Appies we had were not inspiring. (not on HH either) They were small and not particularly flavorful. We did not have an entree, but the menu was not overly appealing. The menu states what is in the entree but not how it is prepared. Entree prices are a bit high at $22 - $28 ish. Overall we were not impressed. For the price, there are too many other great places nearby. Too bad.

Sat at the bar on a Saturday night. No wait and a few barstools open. Good beer/cocktail selection. Chose an IPA and shared an appy. Bartenders attentive and friendly. Would like to come for dinner and try it out. Everything I saw come out of the kitchen looked great!

Went for my birthday. The atmosphere is nice but not very cozy. Wait staff was confusing as we seemed to have multiple waiters. Food was over seasoned in my opinion. Two dishes were swimming in sauce and the serving size was small. My fish was the size of a pack of cigarettes. Also had to cancel my last beer order because it took so long to get and I was ready to go. Plenty of more established places for this price range.

  • Tom Q.

Most of the food was pretty good except for the scallops that had to be sent back because they were under-cooked. The problem is that the service was very slow. The waiter was working hard but had too many tables to serve, I fault the management. We never received bread or drinks that we requested. I would expect after paying $250 for dinner service would be a lot better.
