I noticed this new "Social" Burger place on a Yelp site promotion and was happy to welcome a new player in the burger scene of NOVA. The reviews I read sparked my curiosity even more as they seemed to be "one sided" if you know what I mean. Not taking many 5 star ratings on a brand new business seriously I began to inquire and found one knowledgeable burger connoisseur that provided substance behind his sentences and I was back on a mature rating system for Social Burger. Visited tonight and there are some highs and lows I'd like to share. Keep in mind my overall rating is 4 stars, yes, I am a fan after one visit but there are a few things I am going to have to give grace on because....well, I just like them! My 5 suggestions to make your visit a happy one are: 1. Go ALONE or with 1 friend, spouse or child. Kinda funny how a place named "Social" Burger doesn't have space to "social-ize". IMHO, this is SB's BIGGEST challenge. There are 25 seats in an extremely small place and 13 of those 25 seats are at a counter top. Many customers ordered their burgers to go but what is "Social" about that??? Again, I like them but this is a challenge, I hope they overcome it. 2. Visit on NON-PEAK HOURS, this is how serious I view the seating. They also sit in a shared shopping center of store fronts and limited parking..It was full on a Sunday night at 6pm. Forgive redundancy. 3. Look at the SPECIALS BOARD and not just the printed menu! Although not a special I found out that they offer Pork Belly as a side (not listed in menu)! Don't judge me on wanting it on a burger, obviously I am not the only one! ;-) 4. BEG AND PLEAD they will make their Turkey Burger aka "Thanksgiving Special" for you! Best Turkey Burger I have ever tried, ever. Moist and filling..yeah, it has stuffing and Jalapeño Cranberry Jelly! They say it will be gone next week! 5. AVOID the shake.....or if you must, TRY IT and tell me that I am wrong. Okay went there for a beef burger and meticulously performed my ritual for burger judging....Ordered a Regular Cheeseburger (double in this case) add bacon, add runny fried egg and add cheese (paid extra for each of those but only a buck each so not bad for a good burger. I pulled a good portion of meat away from the concoction and tasted for flavor and temperature. SB's burger had flavor of its own but was cooked to a Well done temp and in itself a tad dry. That said, the sum of the parts was delicious and I liked it!!! The bun was special; soft, airy and light. So, final thought.....If you're a fan of 5 Guys you will love SB's offerings in my opinion. My 4-Star Rating means what it is supposed to "Yay, I am a fan!"

I ordered two Matthew burgers, two fries, and two milk shakes...I kid you not my bill was $35 and change! The milk shakes were in a small tiny cup...there were plenty of fries and the burger was just ok. I wish I went down the road to McDonald's.i would have got my money's worth. The tipping thing was just wrong...you only get the option to tip 10% 15 or 20%. Really...I was doing take out! You weren't "serving" me...tip jar on the counter would have sufficed..to throw a dollar or two in. I had no service..burgers took a long time...and counter person kept taking new people instead of finishing my tiny milkshake...while I waited patiently :( Sorry won't be back. I would much rather have a waiter refilling my drinks and sitting at a nice table for $35 for two burgers at Ruby Tuesday...salad bar is only $2.99 with my meal. I could have had dessert too!

Love this family run burger joint! Everything about this place is great. Don't miss out on the pork belly addition or the hand-cut fries.

As of right now, I am not sure if I would return or recommend to others. The price point is a bit high for the poor service, mediocre sides and mistakes with the food. Read on for details: I ordered the Bison Special, sweet potato tots and my friend ordered a milkshake and fries for us to share. Bison Special - I asked to sub the Bacon w/ an egg. A couple toppings were forgotten (the lettuce and the goat cheese), but I submitted my feedback via the square feedback form (love that you all use square!) and got a full refund on the burger (Thanks Denise Lee!). That being said, I would have much rather had my burger made correctly than getting a burger missing toppings and then get refunded. I was really excited about the goat cheese! But overall, it was a tasty burger, just not what I expected. Sweet Potato Tots - Very delicious, my only complaint is that there were not enough for the price. If I am paying 4 dollars for a side (dip was an extra charge), I am expecting more than 12 tots. But that aside from that it did taste good. Fries - Par for the course. Nothing special here. Kind of cold and dry. I felt as though I would be better off getting fries from somewhere else (smash burger fries are far superior). Oreo Milkshake - WAYYYY too expensive for the amount of milkshake being given. Again, this was almost 4 dollars, and the cup was TINY. On top of that, I watched the boys making the milkshake pour the excess into TWO plastic cups and drink it themselves! I mean if you are going to charge that much for a milkshake, you could at least give us the excess while we are waiting for our food rather than having your employees drink it in front of us. Service - It was clear the boys working behind the counter were in high school and quite immature/inexperienced. Not very friendly, not attentive which caused a few mistakes with our order. That, coupled with the milkshake incident I would give the Service a 0 out of 5. .

This is the only place in town who gets the egg on your burger right! Not only are the burgers excellent- but the staff couldn't be sweeter or more helpful. I always leave very, very happy!

Well, Hello Vienna! The town burger joint has finally arrived! No, she's not a chain. She's far from plain. And, yes, she's your new favorite. (You just haven't met her yet!) I was privileged to pop in for what the owners are calling a 'Super Soft' opening this past Monday. Personally, I would've called it a 'Super Soft-Savory-Scrumptious' opening, but maybe I'm just partial to alliteration? Anyhow... Let. It. Be. Known. No burger I have ever eaten remotely compares to the sweet, juicy Social Burger. I repeat: NO OTHER BURGER COMPARES TO THE SOCIAL BURGER. OK, I get it, inquiring minds are dying to know... how so? And just how did it stack up to those OTHER local burger joints that shall not be named [Ahem... 'Cinco Hombres' and 'Altitude Burger']... Well, it's quite simple. Here's a rundown, a tale-of-the-tape, if you will. 1) Social Burger's thick, juicy all natural, hormone free, dry aged beef patties blow the competition's flimsy, wimpy patties outta the water. 2) Social Burger's fresh buttery buns are baked daily, toasted to perfection, and given as much love and attention as the patties themselves. Now, I call that attention to delicious detail. 3) Social's Burger's tantalizing toppings (I'm lookin' at you housemade pickles and bacon jam) are bar none, and elevate the burger to gourmet status. So, if we're keeping score, that's: Social Burger: 3 Competition: 0 And we haven't even mentioned the fries (which are irresistibly crispy and subtly seasoned). Needless to say, I had major Social Burger cravings throughout the week after my first visit. So I stopped in again tonight for Round 2 and boy am I happy I did. (I'm starting to think every Monday will have to be burger night.) But wait, there's more! It's a family owned business (love LOVE supporting these), the owners are local (and super, super nice), and each month they update their menu with burgers named after local people (regulars, favorite customers). So you best get down to Social Burger, if you want to see your name on the menu next month. I'll be giving you all a run for your money!

The burgers were fried, lack flavor, and were very messy due to too much of the condiments. The sweet potato tots were not good at all, lacked flavor, and were mushy. The fries were not bad though. Plus the force a tip on you if paying with a card by turning the computer around and having you choose the option of 10% through 20%. I noticed later that a small button stated no tip but it could barely be seen. Five guys is far better.

Great food and service. The staff was also very friendly! We were served our food fast and the burgers are made perfectly. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. We will be back.

What a great burger!!! I loaded it up with my fav toppings but liking it hot, their red thai curry mayo put this on the map! I'd pass next time on their fries as they were thin and over cooked and hard after my meal was done. Perhaps the sweet potato fries may turn out better...

I have stopped by this place twice now. Didn't know about it until I drove by and saw it. I love burgers. I have tried many places around the DMV( Elevation, BGR, Smashburger, etc.) While each place has its own unique burgers, none of them have me craving for more. Both time I ordered the Nickster(double patties). First time with pork belly and Thai sauce. The second time with egg and Social sauce which is now my favorite. First time I ordered the sweet tator tots. Second time ordered the normal fries. Ok, the burger. Both time mine were cooked medium so they are perfect. I normally prefer Medium Rare so I will try to see if I can get that next time. The presentation is great. The burger comes with foiled wrap and an outer pocket sleeve. This helps eating the burger less messy from the drips. The tator tots need more work. I think sweet potato fries are better than tots unless they are cooked more. The fries is better IMO. Great portion and cooked perfectly. Place is clean and the staffs are friendly. Each time I saw the owner in the kitchen cooking the burger. Vienna has some great locally owned restaurants. Now you can add one more to the list. If you happen to be near, give this place a try. If you are a burger freak like me, then you need to come here ASAP. I am going to try to get my name up there one day :)

I after soccer practice we decided to check this resturant out. I ordered an Ian (single-patty) Burger with lots of free toppings, sauteed mushrooms and bacon. The bun was grilled and crispy. The toppings were standard. Overall, it was an OK burger. I paid a Grand Total of $8.00. Definitely overpriced.

My family prefers to eat all natural foods, grass fed beef, etc, so we were eager to try Social Burger. They have some great items listed on the menu (e.g. black bean burger which I ordered; ground pork with slaw, milk shakes) but the food was not prepared to our liking. I thought maybe it was just an off day, but I see some other reviews have commented on the same issues we had. Pros: - Friendly service. - Menu has a good variety. Cons: - My black bean burger was under- done/ soggy. - My daughters hot dog was burned. - The regular fries were not cooked all the way through. - The sweet potato tots were greasy, and 'mushy' inside. Sweet potato fries might be better. - Pricey.

Wow! Just took a bite of the burger. Delish! My burger has been sitting in the bag for the past 45 minutes while I waited for a conference call to end. I expected it would be ok, but not fabulous. Well, despite sitting in place for so long, it is great! The fries are tasty as well, perfectly salted. Highly recommend this place!

We read previous yelp reviews prior to choosing a new burger place to try out. A bunch of the reviews indicated that the burger is overcooked beyond their requested medium. I can see where they are coming from. The burger is medium well/well done even when there is a sign that says they cook the burgers "medium." The sign also says aged beef. And from my experiences with lean beef sometimes it can definitely turn out dryer than the fattier ground beef. So as far as the burger patty is concerned they should decrease the time on the grill, and make it a real medium. Fortunately a yelper recommended the cranberry sauce on the side to be placed on the burger. This was what saved the dryness of the burger, it made it a tad more moist and added a complimentary sweetness to the burger. It was like thanksgiving in a burger :) The fries were pretty good too! Nice and crisp with sea salt. And all went down pretty nicely with the root beer soda. You can tell that they are a family owned and ran business with the burgers being named by the nieces and nephews. And they would openly talk to you. Would come back again. Oh and get the cashew baklava next door at the Lebanese market for dessert!

Solid burger. Soft tasty roll, crispy edges on the well seasoned burger, with classic & unique options for toppings. Small, quaint burger joint. We'll be back for sure to try the fries!

As a vegetarian, I LOVE a burger place that makes its own veggie burger instead of using a frozen patty. I ordered the Megan: a black bean and brown rice veggie burger with a slew of toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, HOUSE-MADE pickles, sliced onions, sauteed mushrooms, ketchup and mayo. The bun, baked in-house daily, was incredible and the flavor of the "burger" was awesome. The only topping I'm bummed they didn't have is avocado. My friend ordered the a cheeseburger and was a little surprised they didn't let her choose how she wanted it cooked. She said it was a bit on the well-done side, but liked it. My boyfriend ordered the Special lamb burger and while he liked it a lot, he wished he'd ordered a regular burger just so he could have a baseline comparison. We ordered fries, which were good, not my favorite, but everyone has different taste in fries. My friend ordered the sweet potato tots, but they weren't really crispy all the way through and kind of tasted like you were biting into a baked sweet potato. Not bad, but not what we expected. We also ordered a chocolate milkshake, which was average. I love that this place is not a chain and locally sourced. We'll definitely be back.

I love burgers! In recent years specialty chains have popped all over. Social burger did not distinguish themselves as a leader. High Cost: I ordered a single hamburger , and a side salad. No Fries or drink and the cost was $12.10. The service was slow as compared to some others. The staff lacked a client service oriented manager. The same fellow who rang the order could be seen loading orders from the counter as he sneaked some fries in his mouth. Another employee was texting while preparing. The hamburger was good ( I love hamburgers) . In my view , Clearing up the management issues would go a long way to overcoming the other concerns.

Tried this place for the first time this week, over all the place is quaint and well designed. Where they fell short was the burger, which unfortunately is key for a burger joint. I ordered the double burger, which they informed me comes out medium so that is what I went with. All was well until I actually got the burger. Visually it looks great, however unfortunately it was over cooked, almost crispy and inedible the first round, so I sent this one back. The replacement was not much better it was only a little over done not burnt. The party was chewy and almost tasted like it came from a preformed or frozen patty. I had to choke it down as we were the only ones in the restaurant during dinner so the owner and staff were watching me eat. Fries were great concept with being thin fresh cut fries, however got very cold very quick. Sweet potato tots were pretty good just no good dipping sauces that match up. Not going to be a repeat.

Not bad, but nothing special. The menu does have some interesting items like pork belly or egg, and there is mention of local produce... aside from that - meh. Not worth the cost. They don't ask how you like the burger cooked. It is cooked well done, and on the dry side. The fries seemed burnt. The staff didn't add to anything either, as we were simply rung out - no "welcome," or "how are you?," or anything outside of - "your total is." Maybe I visited on an off day. (Suggestions - drop the prices a bit, AND/OR use quality meat so that it can be cooked less than well done, AND/OR have a welcoming, unique staff that makes me people not mind paying $10 for just a burger alone)

What a great addition to the set of available quick food options in Vienna. It's a family run restaurant but runs as smoothly as a well-oiled franchise machine. They make a good vegan burger, and excellent fries, with an excellent, interesting choice of toppings. My spouse had a regular burger, "good flavor, a touch dry" was her comment. My son had no complaints about the turkey burger. We loved the craft (cane sugar) soda, service was friendly and relatively fast. Bathrooms were amazing, fwiw. Prices were quite reasonable, we'll definitely be coming back frequently

Always love seeing a new burger joint where I live. I had the cheeseburger and was pleased by the quality of the food that I was server. The flavors were present in every ingredient even the mushrooms and onions which I tend to find are usually added for only texture in other burger places. The love sweet potato fries so I took a gamble with a sweet potato tater I order and they were not to my liking being more cooked sweet potato than a tater tot. I will stick with the regular fries next time which were delicious The atmosphere was charming but with a very small dining area - maybe 20 seats very close together. My wife and I felt lucky that we found a table for two when we walked in.

For those that have rated this 3 stars....they need to read my post. First of all i understand where you are coming from. But after you read this post you need to go back. And get any burger and request for them to put a lot of cranberry sauce on it. OMG, it is amazing and this is coming from a burger connoisseur, i have been to all the burger joints in the DMV, that is what i do. and this is easily one of the best burgers i have tasted, better than your five guys, rays to the third, elevation, BGR, fosters grill, shakeshack, Guy Fieri, burgerfi, big buns, melt, etc.....(i could keep going, ask me and I will), so make sure you ask for the cranberry on your burger...and if you get fries ...ask for the cranberry sauce for your fries. You will thank me later. So those that rated this 3 or lower, go back and then i know for sure you will edit your review to a 5 out 5. On top of that, the owners are very nice people and welcome you and even thank you for coming in. Nice Virginian hospitality, you do not see everyday. They make you feel like family. Will def comeback and get that cranberry burger ...yum yum yum P.S. Just a note, they have to follow country regulations with their cooking of their burger, so do not expect a burger that is medium rare or even medium. county regulations...smh

I will be back to try a different burger, but the elk burger was a little below average. My friend that came with me ordered the Matthew burger with various toppings and said that the burger was pretty good. My friends said that the soda and fries were really good too. I think I just ordered the wrong thing. That is all...

These are the best burgers that I have ever had, anywhere, at any price. The homemade sauces are exceptional. The clean, trendy surroundings are great. Very kid friendly. Wonderful service from people who really care about making customers happy.

  • Jeff N.

Wow. I'm not normally a big burger guy, but these were awesome. The buns were toasted and buttered, and the toppings are insanely fresh and perfectly portioned. I'm not sure how they cook the fries, but the few I managed to steal from the children were crisp and flavorful, more like frites than the normal burger place fries. The shakes are hand dipped and made to order. The sodas are Puck's, great flavor and less sugar than most. Ask for the housemade BBQ for dipping your fries. Just opening up, so open limited hours and only for dinner. I'm sure they'll be open normal lunch and dinner hours soon.

This is the place to go for burgers in Vienna! All meat is hormone free and from local farms. All the bread is from a local bakery in D.C. They also offer burger bowls (brilliant!) for those of us who don't eat bread. We brought my daughter here for her birthday and when the family who owns the business heard that, they gave her a free chocolate cookie. The milkshakes are awesome. I can attest to that as we got all the flavors. Be aware that if you bring a large party, the joint only seats about 20, and during lunch time it can get busy. However, we had a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) and had no trouble finding seats. It should also be mentioned that we brought people ranging in age from 3 to 63 and there wasn't a bite of food left on anyone's plate. If that doesn't tell you about the quality, nothing will. Wonderful place. We'll be going back.

I've been wanting to come here since they started building the interior some months back. Ordered a Matthew w/ Cheddar Cheese and Fries. Decent-tasting burger, flavorful buttered bun, and very dark brown greasy French Fries (nothing like the picture above). Not to my taste, but others like them like that. Still. The service is both friendly and efficient and the kitchen staff looked real organized. From my vantage point, I got to see them in action for a half-hour and it was a pretty synchronized operation. Place is cozy, bright, very clean (to include the facilities; well, the one I used, there are two). Social Burger's fares are written on three blackboards on the wall and very easy to read. The selection is generous, as well. Things can add up quickly: Burger + Cheese + Fries + Drink = $. Here, let me point out that the fries come in a generous portion and can easily feed two (unless, of course, you want them all for yourself). I'll be back again for lunch. 23-01-2015: Okay, I'm back. Came here w/ my friend; both got the Matthew cheeseburger and she had a French Fries which, true-to-size, we could easily share w/ some left over. Bother burgers were excellent. Service, like the food, was great. The fries, by the way, were exactly like the picture: perfect. I've upgraded my rating and am a fan of Social Burger. Of course, I'll be back, too.

Lovely people. Cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen. My husband and I are big burger fans and were so excited to try this place but were very disappointed. The meat was good quality but fried and way too greasy. Our bill was $33 plus a tip for two burgers!!! Ouch!

This is by far the best burger joint in Vienna. The buns though. Really, I can't say enough about this place. Discovered it totally by accident, but was thrilled with the find. Go to Social Burger!

Great burger! So much flavor in the dry aged beef. Quality products and friendly service; exactly what you want in a local place. Just wish they served booze...

This is my new favorite burger place! I tried the Matthew today and it was cooked perfectly, the buns are chewy and moist and don't get soggy from the burger. Great choice of toppings. I tried the chimchurry and it added such a great flavor to the burger. The fries are perfectly crisp and seasoned. The setting a really cute and modern. It's obvious this place is going to gain a lot of traction and I wish it was bigger! We had to sit at the bar and it made it hard to chat. I had a chance to talk to the owner and she pointed out her son who also worked there. She was so kind and you can tell she has put so much thought and effort into her business. I can't wait to go back!

Cute, casual locally owned place. Thoughtful burger toppings and nicely crafted monthly specials. Liked the homemade pickled jalapeños. July was the pork Banh mi burger. It was juicy, tasty and the toppings were cold and fresh. Everything was served to order and piping hot. Love the Puck's soda! Did not try a milkshake this time but we will definitely be back. So happy to find this little gem.

The burger was AWESOME. It was seasoned very well and had good flavor. It was made fresh as soon as i placed my order. The fries were hot and perfect (unsalted which I prefer). My friend had a turkey burger which she said was just as awesome and it was seasoned with fresh ingredients. Definitely coming back to try some of the other things on the menu like the bacon jam and the red Thai curry mayo

Great fries and burgers. I prefer Elevation Burger's burgers a little bit more, however, these are still fantastic. Great atmosphere for a quick bite. The all-natural soda machine (no Pepsi or Coke products) is a nice touch. Highly recommended!

  • Mercedes C.

Very very good burgers!!!! I chose their "Matthew's Burger" and piled up the fixings, including a fried egg, and it was amazing! The soda selection was tasty as well. I sorta compare this place to Big Buns in Arlington, same great quality but in McLean. Highly recommend this place.

I couldn't wait to try a locally-owned, boutique burger joint in my home town, but I was disappointed by the burger. The atmosphere is fun and funky, and Social Burger offered quick and pleasant service. The fries were great - long, thin and crispy, but ... ,... the burger was bland. It wasn't cooked on a high enough heat, so the meat was grey and tasteless. I ordered swiss cheese, pickled onions, and a pepper mayo sauce, but nothing in the burger had a kick. I ended up adding some pepper sauce from a bottle on the table, which added some heat, but the overall experience was unsatisfying. My two dining companions, who dressed their burgers differently, agreed with each other- before I even had a chance to speak - that their burgers lacked taste. On the way out we ordered chocolate shakes, but they may as well been vanilla for all the chocolate we could taste. I'll give it another try, and I want the business to succeed, but they're going to have to pick up their game.

This place is excellent. The burgers are juicy and you have to try Pucks Soda which they have as well. Go for the double patty at just a dollar more it is definitely worth the extra $$. Also I have to warn you guys the parking lot is a bit small and is shared so good luck finding a parking space on the weekends.

My rating: 3.5 Not bad, but a little pricier than I would like. Noticed this place on my way home and, since I have a hard time passing by new burger joints, I made a quick U-turn and found myself at their door. As other reviewers have noted, their dining area is fairly small. I can see why finding a place to sit could be an issue if you have more than 1-2 people. I had the Megan (vegetarian: black beans and brown rice) and an order of fries. Both were enjoyable, but nothing earth shattering. The food and the ambience suggest the food is made from wholesome ingredients, etc. Which is a nice feeling to have, although I admit to not digging too far into these sorts of things very often. The service was friendly enough. I'm intrigued by their elk burger they say is their special this month. Personally, I don't eat elk, but I know someone else who might, so I may be coming back soon! Update: Came back for the elk burger (December special). My friend liked it a LOT, so I'm glad we were able to stop by. I had the turkey burger this time around. It was fine, but didn't stand out.

I'm always up for trying a new burger spot, hoping that the tastes are proper. I was on my way to get a wrist brace to help with a snowboard injury I had yesterday, haha, when I took a quick look over and saw Social Burger in the corner of a small strip of shops. Anyway, I decided to try them out. I ordered the Matthew cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and pickles and hand - cut fries. One of their pamphlets says that they care about real food, quality ingredients and their community. The owners are noted to be Vienna residents. Although, no details were listed about the things they care about, my taste buds say that my burger and fries were fresh, tasty and worthy of another order. I will return for another Social Burger. One last thing; it would be cool to know a bit more about the things they care about, like what makes their food real and the ingredients that make them quality. Overall, go check them out; I think you'll have a good meal and experience. Oh, the staff was friendly and helpful.

I like their burgers and the atmosphere is laid back. Only thing I can say they can improve is the fries.. since sometimes they are cold which can be annoying since there's nothing better than hot fries with a burger.

  • Marc M.

It is cramped, bad location, but the fries are great and the dipping sauces are fresh, different and a great enhancement. But I don't go for the hamburger, it's the turkey burger that is absolute blowaway. That's right the diet alternative to beef, yet this one is not dry and it is seasoned to perfection. My order is sautéed onions, red Thai curry mayo, and tomato. Have it with fries and you have a great meal.

This is a place I checked out for dinner during my recent house hunting. My significant other had the lamb burger and I had the Matthew cheeseburger. We also ordered two fountain drinks, and a side of french fries. Everything came to around $27.00, which I thought was a bit pricey, but I really enjoyed the concept and superior taste of locally sourced meats. The receipt went straight to my email as apparently I have been to other places that use the Square POS system. The fountain sodas tasted a bit off, perhaps due to the water, but I am unsure. I usually really enjoy natural sugar sodas as I try to avoid high fructose corn syrup at any cost. I would come back here again, but I probably would not go out of my way.

This is our second time trying social burger, first time we are there and we thought the burger was good, fries were crispy the only complaint was the sweet potato tots needed some help though. The second time we got take out, the burger was a bit greasier than when we ate it there, it's a bit on the pricey side but overall the quality is a tad better than some of the chain burger joints.

Finally got to try out this burger joint..My husband and I are fond of burgers and have tried out a lot of these joints. Before Social Burger came along, Burger 7 has the best burgers, house sauce and fries over Elevation Burger, Five Guys, BRB, The Counter in Reston. Sorry Burger 7 but you have just been dethroned by Social Burger! Crispy fries, perfectly seasoned burger patties and the SOCIAL SAUCE is a must try!!! Did I mention that their burger buns are baked daily from Lyon Bakery in DC ? A must try for all !!!

This is the place for really special burgers, and it is my favorite burger place. ... Well there is Clarke'sBurger but they are 3000 miles west. .... clarkes.com Check the menu mysocialburger.com ... scroll down/around for the pictures. When you go, be sure to read the Specials Board for items that are not on the menu. Are you doing the Paleo grain-free food plan? There is a Burger Bowl ... no bread. Do you want to get back into eggs ? Add a fried egg topping. I do. The soda bar has the gourmet brand. The seating is limited and sometimes the parking is too. Try parking around back or right next to the building. I'd add a star for more seating and parking.

Love! Burger is well cooked and fries are the best I have had in a long time. A little crunchy and not greasy at all...perfect!! Can't wait to come back.

Definitely a 2 star. Lots of good burger place around and I definitely have experience better burgers. Order the Matthew and the burger was dry and over cooked. The sweet potato fries were so so. But what was annoying was the flat soda. For the price, didn't see, or eat anything special or worth 4 stars.

Pretty Good burger. My boyfriend who lives Five Guys, thought it was the equivalent... "Just a little bit better. " I'd definitely come back.

Definitely THE BEST BURGER in town! The buns are awesome! You can tell that the beef, buns, bacon and other ingredients are of better quality than the chain burger joints like Smashburger, Elevation and Foster's. My three boys love it too!

WOW. It's hard to find a good veggie burger at a "fast food" type restaurant (or at any restaurant for that matter) but Social Burger has the BEST veggie burger I've ever had... no joke. I don't know if they are made in-house but they are definitely homemade somewhere. Plus the buns they use are made in-house and soooooo yummy! My meat eating friends love the other burgers they have on the menu. The only thing I would change is to have some mayo packets to go (i love mayo) and to add sweet potato fries to the menu (they sweet potato tots however, I have never tried them). But their fries are just as good. Oh also I wish they did not butter the buns before they toasted them, it makes them super greasy so I would suggest to ask them not to butter your bread... ;) And be sure to grab one of their homemade pop tarts! Holy crap I love this place... p.s- OMG THEIR PICKLES ARE MADE IN HOUSE TOO AND THEY ARE TO DIE FOR!!!

Not impressed. Very amateur-ish attempt at a burger place. Not only was it kind of pricey for a burger, there is a suggested tip amount on the screen when you pay. ( yes, you wait in a line to order, they bring you the food, you get your own drink, and you bus your own table... ) in addition, they charge extra for the sauces for their tater tots. Burgers were all over cooked and rather bland. There's lots of better places out there for a good (and organic) burger.

3.5 stars if I could. Good enough. Noticed this new place so gave it a try. It was okay. Decent burger, I'd eat there again if I found myself in that part of town and craving a burger. However, wouldn't go out of my way for it. Always disappointing when a burger joint doesn't ask or allow for your preference of doneness for the patty, so it came out a little more done and dry than I personally prefer, but overall a good enough burger. Skip the sweet potato tater tots. The end product looked more like fried globs than tater tots, and they skimped with only 9 pieces to the order. My friends had the fries which were not skimpy and a healthy mound sized portion. The fries were very tasty, crispy, and well salted. Milkshakes were okay. Again, not great, but good enough. Probably good enough to survive. They fill the burger void between the Fuddrucker's in Fairfax and the Elevation Burger at the Tyson's end of Vienna. I'd take them over Fuddrucker's but probably Elevation Burger or Shake Shake over this place.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but my family and I were pleasantly surprised. We came in while my eldest daughter was in dance across the street, had two burgers and fries, between the three of us and were even visited by the owners. Better than Elevation Burger and I place I will go again. The only thing I wasn't fond of was the soda, it was a neat concept, but super sweet.

Fantastic another family owned and run local business showing the chains how to do it. If you've got a burger joint like this in the neighborhood I can't see why anybody is going in the awful chain joints..... Let's look at why. 1) The menu is simple yet so many interesting twists. Thai red curry mayo rules! 2) The dry aged burger is great. BTW anybody who orders this burger well done should simply stop eating meat and go chew cardboard for lunch. I would go the other way and add an option for a medium rare option. 3) Contrary to 5 guys the buns are excellent. 4) The fries taste great. I wish they would be brave and step away from the julienne cut, and go for something a little thicker to get more potato in the taste. Also malt vinegar is an essential with fried potato. Get this right and the world is yours. 5) The decor is excellent, great use of the space. Stylish and perfect. 6) The owners are super cool and the service is perfect. 7) They are LOCAL and not a CHAIN. 8) There is obviously flare, creativity and culinary talent on display here. 9) The prices are very reasonable. If anybody dares to complain about price, just remember it's you cheapskates that are responsible for the ridiculous state of our food production in this country. Keep it up Social Burger - you're a hit and Vienna really appreciates you being here. I for will be back time and time again.

We took the family to Social Burger on Friday night and were very pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of the meal. It was obvious that the owners spent a lot of time choosing the right vendors for their ingredients. The toppings were all fresh and the meat was great quality. The buns were delicious and toasted/buttered to add great flavor to the burgers. The fries were flavorful and crisp. The sodas are not your ordinary coke products which was a relief. Because they cook it fresh when you order, it takes a bit more time, but it is worth it. Definitely a great new addition to locally owned restaurants in Vienna.

Fairly underwhelmed. Sweet potato tots were few fir thr price. Burger was good but relative to other burger places not better and more expensive.

Excellent burgers and shoestring fries! I got a cheeseburger with pork belly (instead of bacon) and it was fantastic. Also, they have soda by a company called Puck's. Never heard of them but their sodas tasted great as well. If you're looking for a high quality burger, give Social Burger a try. I spent about $14 for a cheeseburger meal and was not disappointed. Might be my new favorite spot in Vienna!

I wasn't intending to return to Social Burger but went back simply because of a situation of location and time. This time the fries were not excessively salty and the shake was thicker. I tried the herb turkey patty and found it to be a bit dry and small but overall it looks like they worked out some kinks. This was a better visit and I would return again.

Best burger place around...we've needed a place like this for awhile....meats are all local and produce/bread is fresh. Price is really good as well

If a new location is getting 4 stars, I'd expect it to get more 5 star reviews soon once the kinks in the process are worked out. I'm biased since I enjoy what SB serves like pork belly, home made sauces, and thick shakes. But this is easily the best NoVA based fast casual burger place. I think it can beat out most DC sit down restaurants as well. Why? I think it's the quality of the raw locally sourced ingredients. I'll have to repeatedly visit this location to see how it holds up over time.

My new favorite burger place. Unique toppings (Thai curry mayo!) , housemade pickles (delicious!), generous servings (three of us shared one order of fries), and friendly service. We will definitely be back.

A better than average burger joint in Vienna My family and I tried Social Burger for the first time after hearing about it from a friend. The service was friendly and quick. And, they had some great options for non-beef eating diners. I ordered the chop salad burger bowl with the turkey veggie burger with the house dressing. The salad was delicious with mixed greens, blue cheese and oven cured tomatoes. The tomatoes were cooked just right, not too mushy. However, the turkey burger did not seem fresh. It was barely warm and very dry and tough, like it had been sitting out a while. On the other hand, my friend had the same thing and her burger came out five minutes later and looked fresh and juicy. She really enjoyed it. So, make sure the burger is fresh!! My boyfriend had the bacon cheddar burger. It was juicy and flavorful and the bun was toasted and buttered - a nice touch. The french fries were are among the best I've ever had!!! Thin and crispy and cooked through. Not over or under done. The were the highlight of my meal!! Those in my group who like spicy food loved the spicy Thai dipping sauce. Overall, it was a good meal. The downside is that it is very expensive! Between five of us we had three burgers, two burger salad bowls, 4 milkshakes and 2 orders of fries and the total was $75.00. A bit pricy for burgers! It has a nice, modern but casual atmosphere but only a few tables and some bar seating. It's probably best for takeout unless you time it right. It has only been opened a few weeks so I look forward to returning and hope for a fresher burger!

The burger and fries were both excellent. So much better than the chain alternatives. The fries were not greasy and the house sauce was terrific. The burger bun combination is tasty. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. I am already planning my next visits menu. The all natural sodas especially the black cherry are yummy too. This is a must try.

I don't always write reviews, but... I am not at all impressed by this burger. I'd venture to say it was one of the most disappointing burgers I've had in NoVA. The burger was literally falling apart (I had L+T, sautéed onions, pickles, and spicy mayo). The bun could have had more structure - any less and I'd have to bring out the fork. I'm big on fries. I've finished the large fries from Five Guys, and can do double fries from Elevation too. I love all things potato. I also hate wasting food. The Social Burger fries were probably the worst I've had. They were *chewy*. I could not eat more than half the serving before chucking it away. Very very disappointing. I love burgers and fries, and was very excited to see a new burger joint in the area. Social Burger was a huge disappointment.

About 3.5 stars After a less than stellar meal a few door down, my dad and I decided to go for Dinner Part II. What I like about Social Burger is the dry-aged meat; the quality of their patties is definitely above average. However, I found the patties to be quite underseasoned, but that wasn't too much of a problem for me since I would much rather have something taste a little bland than too salty. I went with the Matthew (a single patty cheeseburger with their housemade chimichurri sauce, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onion ) and my dad had the Nick-ster (double patty burger with their housemade Social Sauce, lettuce, grilled onions, mayo, and a fried egg). All in all, I have to say that I'm a fan of Social Burger because their burgers don't make me feel like I just inhaled a grease bomb. That being said, I found the burgers to be very crisp and clean tasting, if that makes any sense at all. I also liked the soft, pillowy, lightly buttered buns. OM NOM! I haven't tried any of their shakes or sides, but I think I'll be dragging my anti-burger boyfriend here for another try. They had some pretty interesting dipping sauce that I'm interested in trying with some fries. Their speciality dipping sauces are an extra 50 cents, and I believe they are always changing. Social Burger also features a special of the month, and for the month of September it looks like they are serving up a Nacho Chili Burger (~10) with chili, cheese, tortilla chips, and pico de gallo.

The burgers are really, really good. Reasonable size, reasonable price if I remember correctly, and well constructed. It's a bit of a fresher, more upscale version of Shake Shack. Not as greasy as Shake Shack or Five Guys. It's as close to a burger I'd make at home as I've found. Fries were just ok. They were good, but with such a good burger next to them, they slightly disappointed. Reminded me of Elevation's fries, which are just ok. I'll say it again, just copy Five Guys on the Fries. Nice sized space and atmosphere.

I stopped here for a bite to eat after wanting to stop here since the grand opening. It was 6pm on a week day and there was no customers in site. I was a little shocked by this but my husband and I ordered anyway. I ordered the Ian burger with a lot of free topping and a side of sweet potato tots. The burger was on the smaller side which was fine. The burger honestly lacked flavor for me. The sweet potato tots were nothing special either. I had ordered a soda and there is no brand names soda here like coke or Pepsi. They use a "healthier" soda brand and the taste must be an acquired taste or something? The location is easy to find but not made for big parties. While I was there 1-2 people came in and out for an online order they placed. They seemed happy with their purchase

It was good but the experience was disappointing. I can't remember the last time where I had been to a restaurant and was asked to sign the credit card authorization on an iPad but was blatantly pointed out about the section where I could give a tip. Really? It wasn't just for a dollar or two but on a check for a family of four, it's a lot of money when you are confronted with a $4-8 tip suggestions. And this is at a counter where you order food and go sit down to wait in your food at a table. No waiters. Although we gave couple bucks in cash, I was really put off. People usually earn their tips and aren't entitled. On to the food... the burgers were supposed to be cooked to a temperature of medium but it was well done. For a dry aged beef, I think it's sin to over cook. The fries should have been hot but were warm and with some being kind of cold. The house pickled pickles and jalapeños were really good but those were only the small highlight of the night.

From the outside, it doesn't look super impressive. In fact, if you weren't specifically looking for Social Burger, you probably wouldn't even notice it. However this tiny burger joint, in the middle of the town of Vienna, brings a local and family feel that's synonymous with the other charming restaurants and shops of Maple Avenue. A family-owned business, Social Burger puts the gourmet in burger. They care about the ingredients that go into the burger. Their menu isn't long, but it's got some toppings that you don't see other burger joints. I ordered a Matthew (aka the cheeseburger) with lettuce, tomato, sliced onions, house-made pickled jalapenos, and red Thai curry mayo. I loved the heat of the red Thai curry mayo. I'd come back to try their Megan (vegetarian black bean and brown rice) and Vienna turkey burgers. Burgers range from $5.85 to $7.85, a little bit on the pricier side. You can also add some not so free toppings like fried egg, bacon, bacon jam, and sautéed mushrooms. These not so free toppings range from 75 cents to a dollar. They even have a burger bowl for those who don't want the calories from the buns. There's also a few options for salads, hand cut fries, and milkshakes. Service was friendly and fast. There are a couple of seats but no more than 20. Open 11-9 daily.

THESE BUNS THOUGH. The softest, most buttery and pillowy potato buns I've ever had on a burger. So bad for you, yet oh so good for your soul. You order at the counter the type of burger you want: single patty, double patty, turkey, etc. (they also have shrimp burgers!) and the toppings (such as fried egg, pork belly, etc.), cheeses, and sauces then someone brings your order to your table. They also offer Puck sodas, house-made pop tarts, and salads! I ordered the Vienna turkey burger and my bf ordered the Nickster double patty burger. My burger was perfectly cooked and quite tasty. My bf enjoyed his burger as well! It was juicy and well-portioned. The fries were thin and soft with bits of crunchy pieces- they gave a generous amount. I dipped mine in the red thai curry sauce which was delicious. Our only gripe was that they cook the burgers a certain way--no offer of medium rare, well-done, etc. This place is located at the corner of one of the 87640 shopping centers on Maple Ave. The establishment itself is fairly small with limited counter top and table seating. For a fast-food place the staff is very friendly and engaging. Apparently they recently opened shop and I must say, so far they're doing things right!

Matthew cheeseburger . Had with almost all the free toppings. The red curry thai mayo is good $6.85 Lunch combo included fries and drink for $3 more dollars. .89 tax and included 15% tip. It set me back about twelve dollars. Without tip it would've been around $10. Overall kind of pricey for lunch. But.... I think ill come back. Burger is bigger and less greasy than smashburger and elevation burger. The fries are crisper. Everything is all natural including the soda. Root beer was my favorite. Service is friendly and fast too. Oh! Fries were better than Taylor tots. They are noy crispy enough. My suggestion is get rid of Tator tots and make sweet potato fries.

The hubs and I stopped by Social Burger to check them out. A family-owned burger place, I was pretty excited to taste their burgers, as they seem to really care about the quality of the ingredients that they use. It is a build-your-own-burger place, where you start off with either a(n): Ian (single patty), Matthew (cheeseburger), Nick-ster (double patty), Megan (vegetarian black bean & brown rice), or a Vienna Turkey (herb turkey patty); you then can add as many free toppings as you want (lettuce, tomato, house-made pickles, sliced onions, sauteed onions, house-made pickled jalapenos, house-made bbq sauce, mayo, mustard, ketchup, Social Sauce, Chimichurri Sauce, and/or Red Thai Curry mayo); the toppings that are charged are: American cheddar, bleu cheese, bacon, fried egg, sauteed mushrooms, and bacon jam. You also have the option to go bunless by getting a 'Burger Bowl' - this comes with a choice of a house salad or a chopped salad, with house vinaigrette or a house ranch for dressing options. They also offer special burgers (seasonal), salads, sides (fries and tator tots), milkshakes, and Puck soda. I tried a Matthew with lettuce, tomato, house-made pickles, sliced/sauteed onions, house-made pickled jalapenos, mayo, mustard, ketchup, and Social & Red Thai Curry mayo on the side - the brioche-like bun was a nice golden toasty brown, and the ingredients within the burger were all very fresh-tasting. I really enjoyed the house-made pickles and the jalapenos! The hubs had an Ian with a pork belly, house-made pickled jalapenos, lettuce, and mayo - I thought his was slightly better, as the thick-cut pork belly (that was cooked perfectly) added a nice touch. They had a 'lunch special,' in which you can choose either sweet potato tator tots or hand-cut french fries, with a Puck soda - the hand-cut fries were pretty okay, but the sweet potato tator tots were way too mushy - they also weren't 'tator tots,' but more like little cornbread-like nuggets. I also wished there was some sauce that went with it (like a garlic aioli/mayo), as the sauces that were available didn't complement them at all. We also tried their milkshakes - the Oreo (extremely watery, it is just how they make it; I thought it was a mistake at first, so I asked if they could make it a bit more thick the second time around; however, it was still as watery as ever, and I think that is just how SB does it) and the Birthday Cake (this was slightly thicker, but it was literally just vanilla ice cream with sprinkles mixed in). The prices were a little steep, even though SB is considered a 'gourmet burger' spot and its location - I am glad I was able to check them out, but not sure if I'd go out of my way to go back! +house-made pickles +house-made jalapenos +tasty buns +watery milkshakes T____T +sweet potato tots = not crispy T____T

I'm not into "gourmet burgers." The phrase bothers me. They're burgers for crying out loud. A backyard tradition... not some long lost cultural experience in desperate need for culinary fancification. This place does a damn fine job of trying to prove me wrong. In fact, I almost always get their special whatever it is. Once it was lamb. another week it was sliced steak (and wow, did the quality of that sliced steak exceed every cheesesteak I've ever had). I think there was bison once. When appropriate I'll pair the burger with BACON JAM. Two words that have belonged together since time immemorial. Just do it, I tell you. So while I still make a face every time my family wants to go out for burgers, suggesting Social Burger consistently flips me from resistant to impatient.

Been here twice..... i love their product! First time I went over the top.... cheeseburger, fried egg, pork belly, jalapeño, sauteed onions, curry sauce. It was tasty but to be honest it was overkill. The components all fought with one another. This time a simpler cheeseburger, sautéed onions, jalapeños. to be honest I liked it tons better. Sometimes keeping it simpler let the flavors really shine through. And for me it was the perfect meld of flavors. The house made jalapeños are a special treat. Could just eat them all on their own they are that good. A sweet candied spicy treat. Let's say yummmmmm Fries were good but I like a thicker cut. Can't wait to try the tater tots. Wishing they were closer to me....

This was my first visit; my husband had been here before and given it a good report. I got their Burger Bowl, which is basically a plain patty on a salad. I'd give it a 3/5 as presented, since it was okay but not impressive. Lettuce, a few pieces of sun-dried tomato, a few radish slices, and a hard boiled egg....yeah. It made me long for the Cross Fit burger at M Shack in Jacksonville, which is a similar item but for for the same price point gives you two patties, sauteed mushrooms and green peppers, fresh tomato, avocado, bacon, and a fried egg on top. The Ian patty, shorn of any toppings, was not particularly large or juicy and a little salty, but just okay---nothing I'd make a special trip for. It is nice that they offer the bunless Burger Bowl option, though, so brownie points for that. I did like the sun dried tomatoes, and I'd even get it again but play more with the available toppings. Where they shone: my 13-year old is vegetarian, and she gave their veggie burger a RAVE review, which believe me is rare. In comparison, she hated BGR's and will eat half at Busboys and Poets. She's picky. I'd go back just for that. Then, fries: a rousing 11/10 from both husband and teen! Definitely a winner. We also liked the Puck's fountain sodas...nice to try something different. Overall, a good burger joint to add to the list.

Pretty good burger that is customizable. The bun held together but wasn't anything special. Fries seem hand cut and are on the thinner side. One order can feed 2 easily. Cute spot in a strip mall. The place isn't very big, maybe fits 20 people. Burgers come out pretty quickly.

Great food. Everything is à la carte. The staff were really nice and the waiting time was especially short since there wasn't many people there when we came. I'm not a fan of theirs fries. It also sucked that they charge 75 cents for milkshake toppings (other places like Potbelly's don't).

Still my favorite local burger joint. They've started offering locally-made hot dogs and they might be even better than the hamburgers. Fresh onion, pickle, and Social sauce...yeah. Blows Shake Shack and its ilk right out of the water.

I sometimes like to think of myself as a connoisseur of the field of burger options that are out there.....I was very excited to find the Social Burger recently and have to say I was pleasantly surprised, but wasn't blown away. The burger was a whole lot of ok. The establishment is clean and the staff very friendly. The menu is varied with something for everyone, even vegetarians. I ordered the Matthew cheeseburger with cheddar, social sauce with grilled onions and jalapeños. The flavor was good and the ingredients are obviously fresh. I almost feel like the pickled jalapeños took away from the flavor of the burger. There is obviously a lot of love that goes into each burger. Compared to my gold standard (five-guys) the patties are slightly thicker and mine tasted just a tad dry. Overall, I would love to return to try some other combinations. My only suggestion would be for some staff suggestions to recommend the best toppings/sauces/cheese to create the ideal burger.

Great burgers. Soggy fries. I really liked my cheeseburger - probably my favorite in Vienna - and I'm glad to have a family-owned place in town, but I can't say I love it. I have been in two times and service was always friendly. I really want to like this place more, but I found it expensive for what it was. (Lunch special with two cheeseburgers and sides came to about $30 - in a fast food setting.) I'm happy to pay a little more for the quality of the burger since it's not fast food, but I don't think I would order sides ever again. I got fries the first time and they were soggy and wayyy too salty. Second time I had sweet potato tots, and I also didn't like them - too big, which made them wet inside. I got a couple dipping sauces and those were really good though. Last thing that I found kind of disturbing was that they emailed me my receipt -- except I did not give them my email address. Ask first!

I give it 3 stars. I really want to score it higher because they do alot right. Good service, Good bun(brioche,i think?), good pickles and a decent size single patty for $5.85 w/o extras. But i asked for Medium and got Med/well and they forgot my lettuce.. I couldn't decide how good the meat quality was because of the overcooking. I will return, but ask for Med/rare next time.

Good burger, definitely best burger in Vienna. Not a fan of their special sauces but whatever that's just an opinion. If you want to try the sauces your best bet is to get them on the side cause they could ruin a burger. Only been here a couple times but when I do need a good burger that's close to home this is my go to.

Burgers

Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. A hamburger is basically a sandwich prepared by stuffing ground meat patty, generally beef, between two slices of a bun cut in half. Hamburger is also famous for its seasoning. Most popular condiments used in hamburgers in the United States are mustard, mayonnaise, and ketchup.
