I go there from time to time, especially for lunch. The service is always good, food is usually ok too. Depends on what you order and the mood of the chef, I guess. Tried their "authentic" whole fried red snapper once... The fish was cooked beautifully- crispy and flaky, but the sauce was dreadful... Ketchupy, fruity, too sweet and too tart at the same time... Barely could eat it. Sometimes their tom yum talay is also too tart. But on average the food is ok and I will definitely eat there again when I'm in the area. Personally I prefer Tong Thai in University Mall. Prices are comparable, but portions are bigger and the food is consistently good.

The food here was just OK for me! I have definitely had way better Thai food. We got the soft spring roll as an appetizer. I would not recommend it. It really didn't have much flavor and it was topped with yellow mustard...which was over-powering. For our entrees we got Green Chicken Curry and the Drunken Noodles. They were both OK...but not fabulous.

I am not sure about what this Tim guy is talking about. Maybe he is high on drugs. There is no way possible that he could be talking about the same Thai Cafe that so many have praised and given great review. Thai Cafe has been open over 13yrs and I as a customer since then have never come across such harsh critic and baseless lies. Thai Cafe is open daily and anyone is welcome to visit it and see with their own eyes. Food is superb and the place is very clean and the people there are great. Seeing is believing so anyone who loves authentic thai food go see it for yourself.

They should call it drowning noodles. Holy cow, everything was soggy in grease. Service was bad, and food was worse. I'm from the west coast and its hard to get bad drunkin noodles but this was the worst I've had. And they have Internet but won't let customers use it! That's service.

The Skinny: Good food (eat-in, take-out, or delivery), reasonable portions, friendly staff, and fast service Over the past 8 years or so I have eaten here many times and have always had a good experience. Whether dining in or placing an order by phone for pickup the service has always been good. The food itself is tasty and there are a good variety of Thai dishes you can have seasoned to your desired level of spiciness. I enjoy the curry dish the Kow Pad Kapow, which is a rice dish that comes with either chicken, beef or shrimp. The duck is good as well. As a warning, if you see 3 peppers next to a menu item try it at your own risk! If you do happen to order one of these dishes the server will usually be gracious enough to double-check to make sure you really want to punish yourself.

One of the best thai restaurants Ive been too. Family owned restaurant, very very nice and friendly staff. We ordered Papaya salad, duck KAPOW and bird nest and it was delicious! the wait was not long at all and their service was great. Natalie knows her stuff and was very quick. No doubt I will be coming back, I am already craving the duck KAPOW, oh and theyre not too expensive, very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this place! -Ajeng-

After far too many hours of trudging through baby stores in search of a double stroller, we were in the middle of Springfield, totally disinterested in nearby options: Chipotle, McDonald's and IceBerry. Luckily, my husband hopped on his Yelp app and found Thai Cafe. The exterior is far from impressive, but boy is the food good! The people are friendly and the interior is very clean, albeit sparce. We started with the soft rolls, which actually weren't particularly interesting...especially for $7. However, our main dishes were excellent. I had the Massaman curry, and my husband had the chicken pad thai (boring, but we love to compare the different preparations). The curry had a delicious flavor and perfect consistency. Not too spicy, not too sweet. The pad thai was generous, and had ample peanuts and beansprouts (which we like). One of the best pad thai's we've had in the Falls Church/Arlington area. If only it were closer.......

3.5 stars. Tasty, if a touch unremarkable, fried rice with chicken, pork, basil, onions, and chilies. The kitchen will happily make any dish as spicy as you wish (and scare the servers in the process). And the green papaya salad is a bounty of green, sweet, and salty flavors. Good for a casual night out.

5-stars from this reviewer! Great Thai food, friendly staff, and fair prices. I dined-in and ordered the Papaya Salad, Panang Curry (Chicken), and Sticky Rice with Mango for dessert. I'm glad I used Yelp ahead of time to scout out this neighborhood around the Springfield Mall and Hilton. Being on-foot for a conference, I made the mistake of dining in the SM food court last night...should have Yelped beforehand last night. My bill was about $24 without tip, but I have plenty of left-overs for lunch tomorrow. I'm not an expert (only been to five Thai restaraunts around the country), but this one is as good as my favorite one in Scottsdale. The salad was tasty, but I would just skip it next time to keep my bill more reasonable for a solo-diner. I'm not sure about one of the previous reviewers who only saw "three tables". They must not have seen the large dining-area on other side of the kitchen (or maybe the restaraunt has expanded since that person was there). Thanks, Thai Cafe!

Good not great. I agree with other reviews that food comes out too fast so I'm wondering how fresh it is. Everything is very flavorful. Drunken noodles and chicken satay were good. The portions were on the small side.

I've been to Thai Cafe a number of times and it's always good. The staples like Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Satay, etc. are really good, as well as the peanut sauce (I LOOOOVE peanut sauce). The service is excellent, they are very attentive, and the couple of dishes outside my usual that I've tried have been great as well. If you are in the mood for something different, try the flounder fillets with spicy basil sauce (can't remember the actual name of the dish). It really is a great place.

The food had good flavor, but dare I say, it seemed to come to quick to be freshly prepared? I had about 3 bites of my appetizer and on came the entree. And unfortunately it was lukewarm, so I don't know. But I don't think it's freshly cooked at order. When I reheated as leftovers - it was great!

I have not had Thai food in years, but I do not remember it being this good!!! I had the green curry beef and it was excellent. I went during lunch, and the crowd was not bad at all, service was extremely good, and the prices are hard to beat. I will being going back again.

I have never been to this restaurant, but they are one of the most stellar delivery experiences I've ever had. My wife and I regularly order from Thai Cafe, and the longest they have ever taken to arrive is about 30 minutes. Generally, our food arrives in 20 minutes or so, piping hot and always high quality. Thai Cafe has a lot of great thai offerings, including plenty of vegetarian options. The Mussamun Curry, veggie spring rolls, and Gaeng Pak are favorites of ours, although we do mix it up occasionally. The vegetables always taste fresh, and both tofu and meats are handled well. The spiceyness is there, and you'll want to pay attention to the heat ratings on the menu, but there are plenty of options for friends and family who don't appreciate that sort of flavor. The spring rolls are crisp and fresh, and never greasy. The best thing about Thai Cafe is that I can say after a couple years of regularly ordering food from them, they have always remained consistent. In the end, the consistency is what I appreciate most.

I really like this place. I go about once every 6 weeks or so. The decor is pretty cheesy, so don't expect to be wow'd, but the food is always good (except for the fresh rolls). The prices are cheap too. Osaka next door is pretty awesome too. Who would have thought you get good Asian food in a strip mall!? Hit it.

One of our favorite places to eat. Not terribly expensive, the owner is so gracious, and the food always delivers! We come and have a drink while our dinner is being prepared and then take it home to eat most of the time and they always welcome us, even with our less than traditional visits. And they will accept any request on your food too!

Best Thai in Springfield, its right behind Springfield mall. Try their soft spring roll- a specialty and only u can only get it here. Everything else is good as well. The owners are usually present and they are very nice people. Just try it if you are in the area.

This is my all time fave! My father had been eating here for years and always raved about it but I never tried, but one day I did and I was sold! They have the best fried flounder that comes with their spicy basil sauce, it has onions, peppers, basil and some other garnish in it. When poured over the fish u will die from mouthgasm. If you are not feeling adventuresome go with the fail safe chicken gai kapow amazing! The tofu soup rocks as well. The staff is super nice and friendly and hooks it up for me since they know me and my whole family lol. Food is always fresh and flavorful and u can always count on the mango and sticky rice to top it all off.

It was a relatively cold and rainy night. While others order pizza from their local Domino's or board themselves up for the day, I ventured out for Thai. I found Thai Cafe on Yahoo! Local. I already tried TK Thai, and wasn't terribly impressed. House of Siam in Brookfield Plaza was closed. Thai Cafe was my closest option. However, the last review on Yahoo was written in 2006, so I didn't think this restaurant was still in business. I called them anyway and fortunately, they were open until 10pm. When Curtis and I pulled up, we were a little hesitant. It seemed like a carry-out only restaurant (hence the name Thai Cafe?). Nope, we were pleasantly greeted and escorted to the back of the restaurant where the actual dining room was. Unlike other Thai restaurants in the DC area, Thai Cafe was tastefully decorated. Not garish, overly trendy or themed. I ordered Phad Thai Pak (Vegetarian Phad Thai), and it was good. It didn't wow me, but it didn't disappoint me. It was just good. Curtis had the Gaeng Phak (Red Curry), and he loved it. The curry wasn't too creamy, but it was very flavorful and hearty with lots of vegetables. We both split the Som Tum Thai (Papaya Salad) appetizer. I asked for the dish to be extra spicy, and extra spicy it was (though, not "Thai spicy" since Curtis's eyes and nose didn't water). For dessert, the Khee Neo Ma Meung (Mango and Sticky Rice). The piece of mango wasn't the freshest or ripest, but it was edible. The sticky rice, though delicious sweet, wasn't quite sticky solid enough. While other Thai restaurants are slowly increasing the prices in their menus (Cee Fine Dining in Fairfax priced their Phad Thai Gai at $11 compared to Thai Cafe's $8.95!), most of Thai Cafe's dishes are affordably priced under $10. The exceptions are entrees with seafood. The service was unintrusive and polite. There were only three tables, including ours, at the time. Our orders were taken and our dishes were served in a timely manner. I have no complaints at all. As we were leaving, I asked for a carry-out menu. The kind manager smiled and laughed, "You must've liked [the food] so much that you're taking a menu with you!" She was one of the employees that greeted us at the door. Thanks to her, we left with a satisfying impression on the restaurant. While Thai Cafe may be a quaint restaurant in a Springfield strip mall, it will be sure to satisfy that Thai craving you and I have at the most random of times. I'll be sure to return! PS: No cock sauce here. (Inside joke, sort of.)

I love this place. The family who owns this restaurant are very friendly and the food is incredible. I have tried many different dishes on the menu, and every one has been excellent. The Pai Thai is especially good. The Papaya Salad is also delicious. They will gladly customize a dish to your tastes if you ask them. This is definitely a Thai restaurant that satisfies.

Absolutely one of the best thai restaurants in northern va! Scrumptious!! Their food is not that expensive and is absolutely tasty. I love to eat spicy since I'm Lao and Lao and Thai food are very similar. Some Thai restaurants make food that is too sweet or have lost some of the authenticity of the flavors from southeast asia but Thai Cafe is not only authentic but very flavorful also. My favorites are the big deep fried flounder with spicy basil sauce (sauce on the side so it keeps the fish crispy and you just spoon the sauce over the fish right before you eat), combination spicy basil fried rice, yum woon sen (bean thread noodle with shrimp salad), mmmmm...yum! I'm getting hungry now, gotta run, maybe will stop by there later.

Thai Cafe's curry dishes are a perfect blend if heat and robust flavors. My favorite us the Green Curry Chicken. Just a little heat well offset by the coconut milk creaminess. They have a nice selection of soups too. My favorite is of course, the coconut milk based chicken once again. Nice hint of lemon grass and fresh mushrooms. A must visit if you like Thai food and the prices are great for the area.

Don't be fooled by the appearance of this fantastic Thai restaurant, it is simply delightful. I am addicted to the Panang Curry that they serve, it is some of the best curry I have come across (in the states). The restaurant is never very busy, so you are sure to receive attentive service. The food is also prepared quickly, but you would never know from the taste.

Came here with my mama (fellow Thai chef) and the best cook I've ever met, and was pleasantly surprised by this place. Didn't even check the reviews until after going in! We got sampler a. and samplet b. and spring rolls and my mom enjoyed conversing with one of the male staff in Thai. I personally wasn't too hungry but based off of my mom's reaction to the food and place, she loved it! We saw an ad for the place at the Springfield Movie theater...we recently moved to the area and love Thai food so we thought we would try it out. We love curry, esp the thick coconut milk curries like Gang Garee. This restaurant features food from the southern part of Thailand where the weather is hotter so they did not offer Gang Garee which started out disappointing but they had Panang curry which I also like so I tried that with chicken and my husband had a chicken. Pad prick stir fry. The Panang curry showed up and I was prepared to be disappointed because the sauce looked thin, more like soup but it was friggen DELICIOUS. My husband's dish was good as well and had a lot of yummy vegetables as well as chicken and a good medium heat level. The brought out the condiment tray with spicy fish sauce and red chili powder to spice things up a bit as we never know if we are going to get 'white people medium" or Thai medium. We also asked for tablespoons because Thai people eat with a fork and a tablespoon. They DONT EAT WITH CHOPSTICKS and they will silently laugh at you for asking for chopsticks ...well I don't know if all Thai people will laugh at you but I know my ex husband and his family would. Since I spent 14 years eating with Thai people it feels weird to just use a fork.

I eat at another restaurant in this little strip mall next to Springfield Mall all the time and never poked my head in here until a goodbye lunch for work this past week despite the fact its been in my Yelp bookmarks for ages. Happily I'll be coming back more often now. Exceptional food and service to be had here. We easily had 30 people in our party - and because of the nature of work everyone didn't arrive at the same time. Still the staff was so gracious about dealing with us and everyone's food came out just minutes after the orders were placed. And the staff was still serving patrons in the rest of the restaurant. My panang chicken curry came with a vegetable spring roll and small salad. Add in the bowl of jasmine rice and it was easily enough for me to have for lunch and then again for dinner later. It was just as wonderfully flavorful cold hours later.

This hole in the wall spot located in a small strip of shops in Springfield was surprisingly awesome. Not much on looks but the food more than makes up for it. Staff was friendly and overly accommodating, they made sure all of my needs were met quickly. I went with the pineapple chicken and it was great. Nice sweet flavor of the pineapple with a decent kick of tang. The vegetables were cooked well, nice crunch but not undone. Another great example of not judging a place but just the looks. This place while not easy on the eyes, holds a great treat inside.

I got the panang curry (This is a sweet coconut curry). The curry was good. It was sweeter than any of the other panang curries I have ever tried. It had corn and lots of green beans in the curry. I usually like lots of vegetables in my food, but I didn't really like the amount of green beans in the dish. I though it was way too many green beans in the dish. They gave you a generous serving size, so I was pretty satisfied at the end of the meal. I also tried their crispy banana rolls with ice cream. This was amazing! The bananas were sweet and crispy and it went well with the cold, creamy, vanilla ice cream. However, I thought it was way too much ice cream for the four pieces of fried banana. I wish they gave me some more bananas.... Still a must try if you love dessert.

Just happened upon Thai Cafe while running errands and couldn't have been more satisfied! The crispy duck was wonderfully crisp and perfectly seasoned - just the right amount of spice to tickle the tongue but not overwhelm, and the crispy basil was perfection. There was a pretty good lunch crowd so I can only imagine how tasty the rest of the dishes are. Service was excellent and servers were friendly.

I love this place! It just got a new renovation too, making it feel bigger and more modern. I always order the Tom Yum Soup with noodles and the Duck Kapow is amazing! And they have no issues adjusting the spices levels for me. I highly recommend and will be going back again!

This is my favorite Thai place in the area. The food is so good that I can't help but compare every Thai place I eat at to this place and nothing seems to compare! There is a wide variety of dishes, the portions are great, the prices are good and the service is fast! I usually order on my way there because it's ready by the time I arrive. I get the Kapow and request medium spice because it can be REALLLLY spicy, to the point where my mouth hurts. I've had their drunken noodles which are always so soft. Their pad Thai is great too. Love the spring rolls as well ;)

I'm a HUGE Thai food fan and I've learned to be pretty discerning. This place was one I always knew about but never tried it. Today I had to drop my truck off at a nearby dealership for a servicing, and it was lunch time so I checked it out. I was brought a spring roll (nothing special) and a salad (meh, unimpressed). But the pumpkin curry lunch special was out of this world! I'd heard the place wasn't that great, but it was far from true. The only other good places for Thai are Celadon and Panisa Thai in Burke.

Superb original Thai food. I like the southern part of Thailand's food so much. You can find Kua Kling here !! It's so good and spicier than I expected. I wanted to like this place after our second visit, but the food is just so so-so that I don't feel like returning. Their Panang Beef is delicious and the meat was savory, but there were so little of the meat and so much of the sauce that it didn't feel worth the price. Their Tom Kha Chicken is good and bad. First the good: the broth is tasty and and the mushrooms included are fresh and complement the soup. The bad is the chicken that they put in it. It is dry and bland. Blech ... They use this same tasteless chicken in the Pad Thai as well, which itself is has almost equal part bean sprouts and equal part noodles. My recommendation to Thai Cafe would be to dry dark meat, or at least marinade their chicken before adding it to dishes. The great thing about Thai Cafe is their service. The waiters work like a dream team and they make sure you get your food in a timely manner and that your water glass is filled. This is why I'm sad that I don't like the place more. If only their food matched their service. I would recommend you try this place if you're not a Thai Food Foodie. Maybe you're trying to be healthy and prefer chicken breast meat over dark meat. Or maybe you should just avoid chicken dishes. Whatever you get, you'll get it with nice service and promptly.

I've been eating here off and on for over a decade, and the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly - I think the downhill slide began with the renovation a couple of years ago. I used to eat here while my car was being serviced at Sheehy across the street - no more! The portion sizes have decreased, the soups have become extremely diluted to the point of having little flavor, and it appears that the same two sauces are used for all the dishes. I used to like the Tom Kha Gai soup, but it has become practically tasteless. I tried the Tom Kha vegetable soup awhile back, and all they did was throw frozen mixed veggies directly from the bag into the soup broth and heat it up. Bright green peas, carrot cubes, green bean cylinders, and corn kernels in a Thai soup? Terrible. I had ordered a spicy pork & veggie dish awhile back that was a Lunch Special, and it was greasy and had a bad flavor and viscous texture. The next time I dined at Thai Cafe, I ordered something completely different, and guess what, it came in that same nasty greasy, viscous sauce. A bad sauce by any other name... The pork drunken noodles have been just OK, although I haven't had them in a very long time. I also remember ordering a Lunch Special a few years ago that ended up being a big cone-shaped pile of thin crispy noodles with a sweetish sauce drizzled over it that acted as a "glue" to maintain the cone shape. It was a lot of food but not satisfying in the least as it didn't include any protein or vegetables. The menu description did not match the presentation at all. I was very disappointed as the dish was advertised as and cost as much as a lunch entree. It should have been advertised as an appetizer to be shared with others. Back in 2008, I got a large take-out order to share with relatives, and the food was absolutely wonderful. My relatives raved about it for days. The Tom Kha Gai soup was thick, creamy, and delicious - a big hit. I also got Pra Ram Delight (shrimp, scallops, and chicken on top of tempura eggplant, smothered with peanut sauce and sprinkled with cashews; served with noodles and rice), which was awesome. That item isn't even on the menu anymore. A week or so ago, I had a hankering for shrimp Pad Thai and unfortunately ordered take-out from Thai Cafe. I had never seen such a sad, paltry lump of noodles in my life. There was nothing but wilted noodles, a few pieces of shrimp, and some super-dried-out wisps of egg, and the dish was an odd orangish color. There were some peanut crumbles in one corner of the container, but no tofu, bean sprouts, lemon, or lime. The shrimp were way overcooked to the point of being hard rubber pucks, and they had NOT BEEN DEVEINED! As hard as they were, it was impossible to dig into them to get to the veins. Disgusting. The flavor of the dish was off as if something was on the verge of being rotten. Can't believe I spent $15 on this garbage. I should have looked in the container before I left the restaurant. It's such a shame that the quality of food at Thai Cafe has deteriorated so sharply. Done with this place.

Although I enjoyed this cute little eatery... I just don't see myself becoming a regular. SERVICE -Attentive without being overbearing -Our food was promptly prepared, drinks were refills, dishes were promptly removed CUISINE -Crispy Spring Rolls (3): Crispy rolls stuffed with cabbage, carrots, cellophane noodles,and chicken served with a sweet and sour sauce 3.5/5 Stars: The rolls were A-OK; nothing exceptional or out of the ordinary. -Chicken Prick King Green Bean: Chicken with green beans, kaffir lime leaves in Prick King chili paste 3.5/5 Stars: This dish was a little light on the chicken. Also, the overall flavoring of the curry was a little bland and underwhelming. Please dont' get me wrong, it was good-- just not the best Pad Prig Khing in the area. -Chicken Spicy Basil Fried Rice: Fried rice with basil, onions, garlic, and chili sauce 4/5 Stars: LOTS of onions... Delicious, but I oddly felt that Thai Cafe's fried rice was prepared with a little more onions than I was used to or the norm.

The food here was okay. The veggie spring rolls were 95% cabbage and few other vegetables. The pad Thai had an unusual sauce that was unlike most pad Thai I've tried in the past and was a little too sweet. What's not to like about Thai Cafe? Great food. Great service. Reasonable price. Relaxing atmosphere. Clean dining room and restrooms. Personable owners that make you feel welcome. We've gone there since its beginning and can easily say this is our favorite Thai restaurant. Highly recommend the Thai Spicy Basil Fried Rice (formerly Kao Pad Kapow -- and I do mean KAPOW!) The chef/owner makes it like no other Thai cook anywhere -- DC area, Chicago, West coast, midwest!!! Also recommend the Pad Woon Sen, a clean and savory dish that needs no extra condiments. Also love their appetizers, soups, and desserts. Now, if they would offer Miang Kham... (hint, hint!)

I had lunch here today to just try the place out. Location parking is head in and very narrow. Interior of restaurant was pleasant once you eclipsed the carry out staging and entered the dining room. Nice ambiance. Food: Veggie Tum Yum Soup and Spicy Veggie Stir Fry (forgot the name) I was hoping to discover a hidden gem since this is near where I live but it was very average and a little too greasy. My all veg lunch tasted of fish sauce which I despise. Didn't realize you might have to ask them to hold fish sauce on a vegetarian dish. When I thought of how I would describe my experience here I decided that I would say that Thai Cafe was probably really great at one time but they have not evolved recipe wise in many years. It's almost like a chinese cook is in there making thai dishes that are short on flavor and heavy on oil. Would not surprise me to see this plan on one of those shows where the pro comes in to update the food. Portions: More than generous. Server was nice and efficient. Restrooms: Did not utilize. Lunch for me incl soup and entree $12 + tip.

Let me start by saying, I LOVE Thai food and was extremely excited when I yelped Thai restaurants in the Springfield area...until I had back to back to back BAD experiences at this place. I actually live in walking distance from this place and wish I could say this is my go to spot for take out, but it is not! The food is filled with MSG, I ignored it the first time I ordered because I so wanted to like this place. The second time, my tomatoes in my fried rice were rotten...SMH. Its a small family owned business, so I did not feel the need to call and receive a refund. Three weeks later, I was craving Thai, so I reluntantly ordered from them again. This was the absolute last time I will order food from them again! I found a piece of plastic in my fried rice!!! Not to mention...I love Thai peanut sauce on all my food, so I always ask for peanut sauce with my orders...it's extra I know...and that's fine, but don't charge me .25 cents the first time, then $1.00 the next time. Who are you trying to scam?!?! And one time I asked Tony, the owner, for peanut sauce when I ordered my rice dish, and he said, "Why???" And I said, "What do you mean? I'm paying for it, does it matter?!?!?!" And if that doesn't convince you how cheap Tony is, I ordered Thai Ice Tea togo, with no ice, and he wants to fill it 3/4 of the way. I asked him to fill it up with some more tea and he said, but it will be to sweet. I said, its okay, i'll deal with it. He continued to give me pushback...and I said if a customer asks you for something, why can't you just do it to make the customer happy. I have never looked back since, and found an AMAZING Thai restaurant with great staff and even better food at Thai Ghang Waan (7056 Spring Garden Dr, Springfield, VA 22150)...which is literally less than a mile away. Worth the drive EVERY time!!!

WOOHOO! Great lunch spot. Their Drunken noodles are AMAZING as for their PAD THAI! prices are reasonable and it takes about 15-20 mins to get our order, not bad at all! Don't expect superior service, but they are very kind when you grab their attention. Very delicious, will be back... every week :)

5 stars for mango sticky rice but the food in it self was a 3 star I ordered pad Thai and chicken Panag. The pad Thai didn't look nor did it taste fresh it actually smelled kind of funky and I had my share of pad Thai. My husband liked the Panag I have had better but it wasn't the worst. Now first off my review may be a little biased because I've been eating here for more than 10 years now when I first moved in this area so this is my "go-to" place for Thai food because of that. I usually order for pick-up but for dining-in the atmosphere of the restaurant is very casual and relaxing. The prices are very fair and they do offer exquisite lunch specials too. I've never had a bad meal and the customer service is always excellent. I'd recommend trying this to anyone who's looking for some great Thai food in the Springfield area. I've been to Thai Cafe a few times, and had decent experiences. Not bad, but nothing to be remembered either. I would have given them a 3-4 star review, however my most current take-out horror makes me doubt my somewhat highly rated experiences. I called for take-out, wanting to "try something new" from my usual go-to thai restaurant (Rice N' Spice). Everything was fine until we picked up our food and brought it home to eat. 1) My favorite Tom Yum Soup was horrific. It was overwhelmed with lime. Is there even LIME typically in Tom Yum Soup? My first word after my first bite was "gross." 2) We ordered duck, a favorite Thai dish of ours, and it was over cooked and dry. It ALMOST could be compared to beef jerky and it was not like the typical, tender, and delicious duck I am used to at other locations. 4) My shrimp pad thai probably had 4 pieces of shrimp in it, and was not memorable. Not good, not horrible, just not something that made me want more. Let me tell you, there is no worse feeling of craving a certain food, finally getting it, and having it disapoint the crap out of you! Sorry Thai Cafe, I hate to say, but this is the end of "us". I hope you move on and better yourself, because I am going back to the one I love....Rice N' Spice.

This is the best Thai place in the Springfield area and I have tried many! It's in a tiny strip mall across from Barnes and Noble. IT's actually in the same strip mall as my fav Japanese restaurant. Services was excellent, lots of people helping out. The Pad Se Eou (sp?) was the best I have ever tasted. The noodles seems to be grilled which gave them a nice taste. My husband had the string bean spicy beef, that he absolutely loved. We also shared a spicy thai basil friend rice. The portions are HUGE compared to places like Celedon and Tommy Thai. The flavor of the food at Thai Cafe is just very authentic. We did order a mango and sticky rice to go. That was very good too! Would definitely recommend this place to others!

It's hit or miss with this place. The first few times of eating here the rice was granulated and delicious. After that the food got worse. The rice was mushier as if more liquid was added. The pad thai was also more liquidy and arrived in a pile of slop (very inedible). If you order chicken in your soup you will received mushed up chicken not full chicken. They once forgot to add additional extras I paid for in my order so I think that they don't pay attention to what they are doing a lot of the time.

There are so many reasons to turn your nose at this restaurant. 1. It sits right next to a wig shop (I don't know why but wig shop mannequin heads scare the living $%#%# out of me) 2. Their dining room furniture looks like it was procured at an IHOP bankruptcy sale 3. It is in the same plaza as Springfield mall (ghetto mania) But DAMN, this place is good. In fact for a full six months, I went here for dinner once a week. I have tried a variety of dishes off their menu and not one lacked in flavor. My favorite is their massaman curry because they top it off with little fried onion rings - - I have never been to another Thai restaurant that has done this before. For authentic, yummy mcyummerson, home style Thai food this is it.

I have only been here once so that is why I can't just give it a 5 stars automatically. To get that extra star, you need to see how a place is on at least 2 separate occassions. Anyways, let's get to the price range and the $$ award that is higher than many other Thai places in the area that have just $. That extra $ is a mirage. This place is priced just as much as many Thai places. More specifically Rice & Spice near Ft Belvoir. What you notice at Thai Cafe is that the proportions are to satisfy the typical American - huge dishes, mounds of food, and makes your stomach stretch if you succeed. I went with coworkers and one of them got the fried rice entree. That is nearly 2x as much food as you get at Rice & Spice. I got the lunch special Ka Pow and everything was excellent. My only complaint is that I wish this place was closer.

Thai Cafe has consistently been one of our go to Thai places for years. Their Larb Gai is hands down the best we've had in the area as are their spring rolls. If you really like your food spicy ask for their Thai spicy seasonings and you will certainly remember your meal!

Awesome food at the Thai Cafe. I split the pad thai, pineapple fried rice (yum!), pra ram tofu, and some tea. I'm usually not a fan of tofu, but the pra ram tofu was delicious. The service was great and the food was excellent. This is a great place to come with some friends so you can order different things on the menu and try a bunch of things on the menu. Highly recommended.

I was really disappointed with the panang beef. it came with about 90% veggies and very little meat in a thin runny soup. I am not used to this style so maybe some people like that but it was just meh. no distinct curry flavor, no zing. probably not giving them a second chance bc panang beef is my favorite. I ate here after coming back from Bangkok this past weekend, and the tom yum chicken soup I had here was just as good as the real deal in Thailand. Their thin spicy drunken noodles are excellent. The Massuman curry leaves something to be desired. And the peanut sauce that they serve with the chicken satay is super yummy. Definitely coming back here again. This place is hard to find. It's near right across the street from the Barnes and Noble.

When I want Thai food, I usually go to Pasara Thai in Kingstowne - but I figured I'd try something different for a change. After reading some good reviews about this place on Yelp and passing this place many many times and never stopping, I decided to give it a shot. It was bigger inside than I thought. A little dive-y looking but not totally. People were friendly and sat us immediately. It was a Saturday around 6 pm...a few people were there, not much of a crowd at all. We ordered and it was served in a timely fashion. I tried the Duck Kapow, as I've not seen this at any other Thai places I've eaten. The duck was a little chewy and maybe slightly overdone, but all in all it was a good dish and I liked the flavor a lot. Good portion for the price. The person I dined with (my nephew) had the tofu Pad Thai. It was a big plate of food. He said it was good. I'm sorry I didn't visit this place before now. I will be returning.

I am most definitely recommending this eatery. The environment is well put together with attentive service. The atmosphere accommodates both the casual and more upscale diner. The food is excellent and well presented. I recommend the Thai iced tea to anyone who has never had one. It is a perfect sweet drink for a hot summer day similar to an iced coffee in sweetness and density. The Pad Thai is as good as any i have had and i look forward to trying more of their menu in the future. I should also mention that the prices are reasonable. I am a fan and recommend anyone check this place out. For first timers looking for this place with a GPS it's across from the Springfield Mall. It is located toward the middle of a cluster of shops. Look for the blue signs.

My boyfriend lives in the Springfield area and we are usually too lazy to venture outside of the area for dinner. I was Yelping one evening and found this little place and decided to go because of all the high ratings. We started out with the tom yum goong soup. It was probably one one of the worst that I've had. It was super sour and tasteless at the same time. For the main courses we got fried crispy duck kapow and the assorted seafood pad thai. The duck was soggy and was not crispy at all due to the drenching sauce and accompanied vegetables. Definitely not as good as Thai Square's or Bangkok Golden's. The pad thai was just funky in taste. It came with a fried softshell crab which was not fresh and stunk up the whole dish. I would not recommend getting the assorted seafood pad thai, maybe it would be better with just shrimp, chicken, or beef alone. We had so much food left over but decided to not take any home and usually I would take home whatever I can. It was THAT bad. The service was decent but that did not make up for the horrible food.

Wow! Thai food is not a favorite of mine but it's something I enjoy from time to time. Maybe it wasn't a favorite because I'd never been here. Everything I had was delicious! The tom yum (lemongrass) soup was the best I've ever had. Granted I've only tried a few Thai places. So yummy! My mom had the crab with curry - yum. My brother had the sweet and sour lovers dish...also yummy! My entree was the pra ram long song (I hope I named it correctly-I uploaded a photo here) and it was yummy! I love peanut sauce and I love curry so my dish was a win-win. Very cozy spot with friendly staff. I will be bace next time I'm around the area and craving Thai. Try the spring rolls. Nice and crispy.

My husband and I eat Thai Cafe probably once a week. Funny thing is, we've actually never eaten in the restaurant, we always get delivery (free, min order $25, 3-mile radius). They are pretty quick about getting us our food. On average it takes about 20-25 minutes. Having been here a lot, I've had the opportunity to try a bunch of different dishes. So far, I haven't been disappointed. The dishes are great for sharing, and have those spicy, bold flavors that make Thai food so delicious. One time I got Thai for lunch in DC, and it was so bland and boring that it made me crave Thai Cafe the next night. Guess I needed to satisfy my Thai needs! Some of the items that have made it into the rotation include.. Appetizers/Salads - vegetable spring rolls, curry puff, papaya salad Entrees - Kapow, panang curry, big bowl tom yum noodle, drunken noodles, pad woon sean You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. Maybe one of these days my husband and I will make it out of the house and actually eat at the restaurant.

We got our order to go on Sunday and they have lunch prices on the weekends.. which is great! We ordered wayyyy too much food. All of our food was delicious. We also go the Tom Yum Noodle soup.. basically it was jut a lot of Tom Yum Soup with noodles. The noodles werent that great.. but in the end it was cheaper to order that then order 2 separate orders of Tom Yum Soup.. so it was a good deal. We ordered 3 entrees and 1 appetizer.. total was $29. It was way TOOOO much food. we ate a little over half of it. Delicious though. Fast service too.

This is a solid little Thai restaurant. I'm so happy about that, since I just moved in across the street. Go to this Thai restaurant if you like strong flavors. We had the tom yum soup, chicken pad thai, and pork panang curry. The tom yum soup and chicken pad thai were really, really good. The pork panang curry was pretty good, but my boyfriend happened to like it more than I did. This place has free delivery for a select area. It's pretty fair pricing and they're open well into the evening (I think they close at 9 p.m.). All in all, great experience, nice staff. I will definitely visit again soon. :)

Came in for take out. I got my order quickly so no issues there. The portion was good but the chicken meat was a little odd tasting. I can tell the difference between high quality chicken at some Thai locations and meat that taste sub standard. It was a waste of money.

I just had an excellent and inexpensive dinner at Thai Cafe. This is a great find in an unassuming strip mall. The interior was simply decorated and very clean. You enter through the back, pass the kitchen area where the delicious smell of stir fried garlic and basil fill your nostrils. Two huge glasses of Thai ice tea, spring rolls, bean thread salad, beef panang, and a bowl of tom yum gai came out to be a little short of $32 before tip. With the exception of the terrible spring rolls that had too much cabbage and reminded me of Americanized egg roll, everything else was delicious and worthy of ordering again. The bean thread salad and tom yum gai were rated 1 pepper while the beef panang was rated 2 peppers on the menu. One pepper was enough spice for me and the two peppers compelled me to take swigs of ice water in between bites. That's saying something since I am the one who thought the hotpot at Uncle Liu's wasn't really that spicy. I am happy to report that they didn't make any of the dish overly sweet and dumb down on the spice level to suit American taste. For those who are truly brave, there is one item on the menu that's rated 3 peppers. They also brought out 3 spice jars filled with dried chili flakes, pickled jalapeno, and spicy fish sauce (very salty and not sweet like nuoc mam). The portion size was also generous and we took about half of the food home.

came here just to pick up some thai for lunch while making an errand run. we walked in and ordered, and it was ready quick. the food was GREAT. i got the drunken noodles, and it was really delicious. the sauce was perfectly the way i like it with just enough spice to it. i didnt even end up using the hot sauce they gave me. the thai tea was also good, but the "to-go" portion seemed really small. hoping to go back and order my items off the menu.

I ate here for the first time and I felt like there were a lot of mixed feelings. At some points I found the place worthy of four stars but then it'd fluctuate to three. I'd give this place a three and a half. To start, the service was more than fairly decent. The food I ordered was quite delish however my parents did not like their dishes. The chicken satay was pretty well done and the thai dumplings were good too. I ordered the massaman curry with my choice of chicken for the entree. My mom ordered tom yum soup and my dad ordered drunken noodles. My entree was quite delicious, the portion was pretty big which I thought was a fair trade. The beef in both of my parents' dishes were awfully rubbery and extremely chewy. My dad complained that the drunken noodles were too sweet. The pricing was pretty dang expensive too as compared to other thai restaurants where we could have gotten more of something for a cheaper value (the appetizers in particular). Therefore, I felt as if I couldn't give this place all four stars.

Hands down this is my favorite Thai restaurant. The food and service is amazing. The great thing about this place is the portions are so big and the price is so low. I would go the extra miles to eat here than any other Thai restaurant. I recommend the Stir-fried Noodles with beef if you are a beef person. Also try the panang curry, it is DELISH. I would also recommend the Kyoza as an appetizer. This is 100% authentic Thai cuisine and you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. I've tried over 10 of their dishes and not one of them has failed my taste buds. A+ for this spot. Definitely check it out!

I have been to many Thai restaurants, and I have to say that the Thai Cafe is a real Gem. Thai Cafe is doing it right on all fronts; 1) the food is consistently superb, very authentic, great flavors, fresh, great care is taken into its preparation and presentation on the plate., 2) the service is excellent and you are always greeted with a smile. The waitstaff is eager to assist you with your menu selections and prompt to service the table. 3) atmosphere, great ambiance and decor. I have been going to Thai Cafe for years, and they have really expanded from where they started. The restaurant has a very comfortable (sabai) feeling and is well appointed. 4) price & menu selection, Thai cafe has done a great job on pricing their food and has a great selection of food and beverages. There is enough variety to satisfy the Thai food devotee, and newcomers alike. If you have not been to Thai Cafe yet, you should make an effort to try it. Even if you are not from Springfield/Franconia, I recommend to commute and try it is one of the best Thai restaraunts in Northern Virginia.

This place stays true to Authentic Thai food. Don't let the looks fool you. It's in a dated strip mall and kind of tucked away but it's worth stopping in. All the food had just enough 'heat' Service was awesome. So if you're in Springfield, Kingspark, Burke area try to stop in if you're craving 'Real Thai Food'

Ar-roi maak (very delicious)! A friend and I ate here on weekend around 9pm and ordered pad kee mao (drunken noodles), satay, papaya salad, beef larb all for $23. The food came out quickly and was tasty with the right yum flavor (mix of sweet / sour / spicy). Thai Cafe gets the yum seal taste of approval

When I was younger, my parents would order Thai food about once a week, and sure enough, the place they'd order from was Thai Cafe! I've been to several Thai restaurants, and Thai Cafe definitely makes my top 3 list. I usually order Thai iced tea, satay chicken, and chicken pad-thai. The foods are very tasty and I haven't had a bad experience with any of them at all. Their service is great, both carry-out and dine in services! Another dish I loved from Thai Cafe was their Tamarind Chicken. I remember having it once in Thai Cafe and never been able to find a similar dish anywhere else. It was definitely a dish that left me wanting more!

Authentic and Genuine, just like my Yelp Persona (except for the fake name and non-picture). Curries are outstanding, as is the duck kapow - did the takeout and now can't wait to dine in the restaurant. And perhaps move into the restaurant and making it my permanent home, maybe by hiding underneath the kitchen sink (just spitballing here) and sneaking out to eat scraps of spicy beef when nobody is looking. Not sure what to do with my current family/infant son/house/mortgage/job, but those things will probably work themselves out. Don't want to get hung up on the minor details when planning a big move like this.

I've been going here for the past 10 years. What can I say about this place, it's a casual lunch/dinner spot. The food is excellent which is why I keep going back, however service is slow and inattentive if you need water refills and such. It's definitely a solid 3.5! Had to give it a 4 due to Yelp rating system. Most of my coworkers also enjoyed coming to this lunch spot!
