What a great place. A hidden gem, literally. Hidden behind the Culligen's store, this is a true country diner. Real home made food. Beef and vegetable soup was just right. Pork chops were tender a juicy. Macaroni and cheese and green beans were spot on. Top it all off with a piece of homemade German chocolate cake.

The staff were incredibly nice. You could tell that they knew their regulars by heart. The sweet tea was very good and the mason jars were a nice touch. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. We have eaten there several times with friends and nothing is ever seasoned. No salt-no pepper-nothing. The waitresses have told us that this is because they serve and older clientele that can't handle salt but I really don't think this is a valid reason. Like a previous reviewer said, they really do think that they are hitting the food out of the park. But we haven't tasted anything that was palatable. Gravies taste like raw, unseasoned flour. Mashed potatoes are grainy/gritty and taste like paste. About the only thing we have had there that was ok was their hamburgers and fries. The latter were well seasoned but the former were, surprise, not seasoned at all. I don't see us going back. A fourth time wasn't a charm and there are plenty of other options in the area to spend your money at to get well seasoned food.

Rylies Diner has great food, my favorite is the breakfast, this is by no means a fancy place but that's not my style anyway, great food and nice wait staff.

Luckily their new sign was up bc it caught our eye. This place is hidden on the back of the plaza. When we walked in, first impression was an older diner w/one host/waitress (who was very hospitable w/a smile all the time) and one cook. I was plesantly surprised when my sweet tea came out in a large glass mason jar. Their menu is nothing out of the ordinary breakfast diner, but when the food came out I was so happy we chose this place. We've been living in Ruckersville for about a year and only now tried this place. I can say, this is by far THE place to go to for breakfasts! All the other restaurants don't compare. I got the country fried steak, and it was amazing! The breading staying crunchy even under the homemade sausage gravy. And my husband's pork chops were cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. Definitely will be back again.

Decent diner food and the price is reasonable. The decor needs some improvement and was not warm or relaxing. The service was good but the food was a little slow.

Riley's has great country food. I ordered a breakfast combo that consisted of country-fried steak, hash browns, two eggs over medium, a biscuit and sausage gravy. Whoa man! Proper filling and mighty good. And the prices! You get 3X the food for a third of the price compared with DC. Great ambiance inside. We sat next to a large table of Amish people. Our waitress was very friendly. It was a bit hard to find because it is at basement level behind a retail park off of the divided highway. You'll have to look for the sign by the side of the road. Don't let the location and outside appearance fool you (i.e. don't give up and go to Wendy's if you can't find it immediately or you think it looks a bit rundown). It's there and it's worth the effort. Stop on in and give these folks your business.

I ate here last month because it had been over a year since I had last eaten here and I've never had a bad experience. Previous visits I've had the breakfast which is good, I'm sure I've had a burger, and three years ago I tried the chicken salad which was okay but I was a little disappointed only because my older sister had highly recommended it saying it tasted similar to what our grandmother would make for us when she was alive but it was nowhere close. So I'm reviewing this from my last visit. I go to church about 10 minutes from here, had about two hours to kill before work because going home would have been a waste of gas since church is 40 minutes away. I decided to go north and go to Riley's since I hadn't been in so long. They were steady but still plenty of seats. My waitress was friendly and the waitresses are probably true Southern bells (not that there's anything wrong with that). I ordered the steak and cheese with french fries and mashed potatoes which I paid extra for but I love mashed potatoes especially homemade. The fries were great. Not burnt and didn't need a ton of salt. The mashed potatoes were a disappointment. The first bite they tasted really good but then after that even with the gravy they just seemed bland even with salt so I only ate half of them. The steak and cheese however was delicious!! I don't know how to describe it but there was some special flavor to it! I don't remember what cheese I got it (probably provolone) but I only put ketchup on it, nothing special but it was just delicious. I made sure to mention it to my waitress when she rang me up and she mentioned it to the cook. My waitress was a skinny lady probably in her early 60's or late 50's who was VERY ATTENTIVE!!! She kept my glass full and even remembered what I was drinking. I never had to ask for a refill she always took care of it on her own. Writing this makes me want to go back there for another steak and cheese. Pros: friendly staff, delicious cheese steak, good french fries, free refills, other good food I just don't remember, attentive servers, space in the back for large parties Cons: the tables between the booths make the booth seating feel cramped and narrow, if you aren't use to eating here it can be a pain going through the right parking lot because they are on the backside of a row of buildings facing Route 29, the front of the restaurant seems cramped and there seems to just be a ton of misc. clutter on the walls. The menu didn't seem to have a heck of a lot of offerings except for breakfast. And I don't quite get the purpose of the TV. They aren't a bar (I don't remember if they serve beer), but its not even cable TV or satellite, its just broadcast TV.

Real good country food at incredible prices. Yeah the service is a bit slow but if you want super fast food go to a macdonalds and gag

Whoa that was a lot of sugar. Even their Mac and cheese and onion rings had sugar in them. It wasn't the type of food I'm used to, so it was too much for me to handle BUT the staff was super friendly and the service was fast.

Have been 5-6 times with 2-4 people each time. The staff is very nice, but never got an order completely right any time we have gone. (no, we did not ask for fancy requests.) Food takes a while to arrive and it is just below average for such basic food. The staff is convinced they are knocking it out of the park. Tried the onion rings on our last adventure. diabetics beware they first roll the onion strings in SUGAR then cake flower batter. It tastes and smells like a funnel cake. They said it was a specialty. We skipped the plastic wrapped cake and pies. While the people are very nice, the dinner across the street has better food and selection at about the same price.

The fried squash was to die for. Yum! Good burger, sweet staff, perfect ice tea served the proper way in a mason jar ;-). Kinda hard to find but worth the effort. Gotta go back and try breakfast.

There's not many places to eat in Ruckersville, especially for breakfast. Riley's does your typical dinner food. I ordered pancakes and scrambled eggs. The pancakes were pretty good but the eggs were overcooked. I tried a few other dishes from the rest of my party. The food was nothing to write home about. Their drinks are severed in Mason jars, which I found cute. The walls are full of knick knacks. There's two TVs on the wall. The staff is rather friendly. Even so, I don't think I'll be back.

The place seems to be going down hill unfortunately. Last time I went in it took FOREVER to get service and the waitress can't keep her tongue in her mouth. I'm sure it's a disability or something but not what I want to see from the person delivering my food and/or talking to me. Food was just so-so.
