Tonight I had dinner here. Since I'm staying at the hotel I figured, why not? I order spaghetti w/ meatballs and Cesar salad on the side. The spaghetti was over cooked and the meatballs were HUGE but so dry. The Cesar salad was more of a spinach salad with like 2 baby pieces of romaine and shredded parm. Also, the dressing had a mustard taste. Very tangy. Not bad, just not exactly right. I gave this place 3 stars because they don't seem to know that they are doing anything wrong. Hope they get more training to better serve customs.

This is a pretty mediocre to poor place. Were it not for my daily $20 breakfast voucher that came with our room at the Holiday Inn, I probably would not have eaten here at all. We had three days worth of breakfasts here and the food is at best edible. The free kids breakfasts ("kids eat free") would satisfy those 5 years old or younger. They were so minuscule. The two pancakes & bacon (1 tiny slice) were unappetizing and pancakes were tiny. My other son's bacon (also 1 slice) and eggs (make that egg as the amount on his place is minuscule and cannot be more than 1 egg-worth). My English muffin was not even toasted but merely warmed. My husband's California Omelette had two brownish avocado slices on top - eeow! Only my American Skillet was passable for 2 out of the three days. On my last day, the cook used leftover potatoes and they tasted dry and mealy. The service was also slow. It took more than 30 minutes to get our food even when the restaurant only had 4 tables of diners. It took us 1.5 hours to have a simple breakfast. We only got out in an hour when I pointedly told the hostess that we were in a hurry and needed the food ASAP. This restaurant is only acceptable if you get the $20 voucher deal with your room. If you have to spend your own money, go somewhere else.

The bartender made me lose my appetite: she was behind the bar blowing her nose, then wiping her nose with her hands, and did not wash her hands, then went on to prepare drinks and open bottles. So disgusting! The food was mediocre; under-seasoned and the chicken on my salad was dry and overcooked. I asked for honey mustard for my salad and was given dijon mustard instead. I opted to just eat my salad as it took close to a half hour to prepare and after a long day in the car, I just wanted to eat and go to bed. The only positive thing about our visit was our server, very sweet, but took a long time for food and bill. The other staff that we encountered were not very friendly.

This place is terrible!!! Come in night one sit down and order a double vodka and sprite and order some food. Everything takes forever but finally gets there so I say ok maybe its not too bad. Mind you the double was 10 dollars not exactly a glamorous location so the price made sense. Night two order the same drink and get my bill and get charged twice immediately ask the waitress she says shell talk to the manager. The extremely rude manager comes over and I told her I refuse to pay that for the drink based on the previous night she says I have to pay and offers 10% off. I laughed refused to pay and left

Extremely slow service, overcooked burger and hush puppies. It was convenient to our hotel though, but that was the only positive.

We went even though the reviews were not so great... Figured we would make our own opinion since it was attached to our hotel and we don't know the area. It was a clean place (even the duct tape repair on my booth seat was clean). Our waitress was very nice when she was around. We ordered cheese sticks and the were good bar type cheese sticks (is there such a thing? Yes! you would only understand if you have had bad bar cheese sticks). When someone else delivered our food we had to ask for our waitress (and no it wasn't busy at all she had 4 booths) so we could order our dinner which consisted of a chicken quesadilla and chicken tenders tossed on Asian sauce and fries. Well seemed like forever but we finally got our food and it was good. The fries were the best part!!!!

Decent. Place. After 10 hr ride up from Florida, had a burger and a side plus 2 beers for 17 bucks. Clean, ok bar food. In a pinch a good selection.

Not good! Nfc divisional round and closes at 10? With a hotel attached. Makes no sense.

The food is terrible; the service is awful. Just order a pizza instead.

Blueberry pancakes tasted fermented. One inch thick, crumbly, sour. Had to DROWN in syrup to make them palatable. $3 for side of two slices of bacon. Poptarts are a better breakfast.

After a long drive from PA (DC TRAFFIC SUCKS) we arrived at our hotel about 4 pm. This restaurant is located in the Holiday Inn. Choices in walking distance were subway, McDonalds or The Sporting News Grill. My wife and I and my 2 year old god daughter chose this place. I had the Angus Burger with cheese and onion rings, my wife the mushroom and swiss burger and my god daughter wanted sliders as on the menus, waitress said it was replaced with a small single burger (which was fine) and fries. We also ordered the steamed shrimp as appetizers. My god daughter and i had sweet tea (can't get good sweet tea in the north) we both had multiple refills and waitress was great on them. A++ for that after 4 hrs in a Car. Shrimp came out and were huge and seasoned great old bay and other seasoning great unique taste. Burgers came out some time later and were good. Total bill 41.07 Not bad and with other available choices we made the right choice. Ps onion rings were great one looked like a battered pineapple :)

Not worth it. Service was slow, food was not good. I tried it twice with co-workers because it was close to work, but that was it. I'll drive a littler further to find another place.

If I could delete stars I would. Driving up from south Florida and stopped for the night at the hotel across the street (Hampton inn which is great!) this was the closest dinner-like place within walking distance. It took 20 mins to have our order taken.. The place was empty and it took an hour to get our food. Which arrived cold and greasy. First and last.

The Sporting News Grill is a bar & grill just inside the Holiday Inn. It's located in a heavy industrial area just off the Bells Road exit from I-95. The area sees a lot of blue collar workers from the nearby DuPont and Phillip Morris plants as well as a large and steady stream of truck drivers to/from the associated industries plus a major gasoline terminal. Due to its location, they have two Happy Hours: a 7-9 AM one for the workers leaving the graveyard shift as well as the traditional 5-7 PM one. The Sporting News looked like it could have been an oasis of an opportunity to be able to enjoy lunch in an upscale location compared to the other fare nearby: a McDonalds down the road (which is coupled with a gas station/convenience store) and a Subway across the street. Nothing else nearby for several miles. After 3 visits, it has proven a major disappointment. Visit 1. My lunch companion and I perused the buffet (pasta that day). It looked appetizing but we each had either just done Italian the night before or planned to do it that night. We ordered two sandwiches from the menu. The food delivery took 15+ minutes, the orders were not complete and the attending waitress was not efficient in getting the missing items nor in attending to refreshing our drinks. Food quality was fine. Visit 2. The same lunch companion and I again perused the buffet (BBQ that day). It only had one offering of BBQ with a couple of other over fried choices. We passed and ordered from the menu. He, a BLT with fries and I, a Cobb salad. The food took a tad long considering the simpleness of the order. The BLT was fine but the waitress lacked asking about or automatically bringing condiments. We had to flag her down to get ketchup and mayonnaise. The ketchup brought to the table was several fast food packets in a little dish. The delivery of mayonnaise required a 2nd trip and was the tiniest jar of mayonnaise ever seen. It still had the seal on the lid which took an effort to get open since it was so small. We understood that the restaurant was duplicating the condiment delivery style reserved for their room service guests - but WHY? The Cobb salad was fresh and large. Its 'presentation' was each ingredient laid out in a line across the top of the salad. It looked nice but just not too practical as it required the guest to perform the "mixing" ritual in order to eat. I like my salads served ready-to-eat, just add dressing and go. Visit 3. My regular lunch companion and I went specifically to try the advertised Friday buffet - seafood. Again, sore disappointment when we previewed the buffet area. No seafood. The story was: "the truck didn't come". What kind of explanation is that? We both ordered from the menu again. Service was much quicker and quality was fine. They even had ketchup in a bottle this time but still had the midget mayonnaise jar. Visit 4. Not for a while.

Yes, the service *seems* slow. This is, after all, a sit down restaurant - not a drive thru. That said, the food was good all three times (once in the restaurant, twice with room service). Everything was just as expected. The salad was good, the mashed potatoes were just right, and the sirloin steak was very tasty (although a bit tough). Would I go again? Most def.

I would have given this place a 1 star after my first visit, but they showed some redeeming qualities. Why did I go back you say? I was in the area for work for about a month and all there is to eat there is McDonalds, Subway, and this place. I ate Subway the most. Nonetheless, I went here when I wanted a sit-down with a beer and a book sort of setting. So the first visit, the restaurant was only half full and we still weren't seated for about 5-10 minutes. Then the same wait each time to order our drinks, get our drinks, take our orders, etc. They must have had two or three servers not show up because they had the bartender working the bar and half the restaurant it seemed. We decided on getting something quick, because we still had work to get done back at the hotel. So I got a white bean, chicken chili and my co-worker a salad, which took just as long as anything they'd have to cook individually. They instead brought me a cheese, chicken soup of sorts. I didn't want to wait around for the right thing, so I just ate it. The chicken was unbelievably dry considering it was being soaked in a cheese based soup. It really was impressive. I ate a bit of it and we got out of there as soon as they'd finally bring us our check. So the next time I just decided I'd bring a book, so if I had to wait forever, I wouldn't care. The service was much better the next few times and the food was usually decent and one of the times very good. The only meal I really enjoyed a lot was a special of the day, the tuna with vegatables and rice. It was all very good. The burger sounded great, but was very underwhelming and cooked well when I asked for medium. Some chicken meal I ordered was dosed in butter, so good but I'm not going to do that every meal. One of the salads was alright. So basically if work is paying for it and you are staying right acoss the street as there are 3 hotels within 100 yards and it's the only sit-down place to eat, go for it and you might get lucky. Otherwise I'd steer clear.
