Took my motorcycle from Norfolk to Richmond for a VA appointment, and was checking Yelp! for something to eat afterwards. American Buffalo Wings looked like a good place to try out. When I first saw that this restaurant was stuffed into a cranny of what appeared to be the most dismal shopping center, I was a little worried. But the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Seafood Combo: 2 fish fillets, and 6 shrimp, (all fried because, well, fried food is the best) with fries, and a drink for $9.99. I got my food in about 10 minutes and it was so hot and fresh that I burned my mouth on the first bite of fish. It also came with 2 slices of white bread (confused at first, but realized I could make a fish sandwich, and was then very happy to have the bread.) The fish (Whiting) was delicious. Fried perfectly, moist, flaky, and delicious with no fishy smell. The fries were fries... equivalent to Red Robin's steak fries, but more normal fry size. Personally, I would have liked them a little crispier, but they were nothing to complain about. The shrimp... oh boy... the shrimp. Definitely the best part. Perfectly fried, golden brown, and an amazing crunch. Honestly, some of the best fried shrimp I've ever had. The only thing it left me wanting was a Po' Boy to put it on. Tartar sauce was good as well, tasting of real mayonnaise, instead of soybean oil. The menu is fairly extensive, but a lot of what's listed is just options, like a whole menu board for the 4 fish options. Prices are low. My order was one of the most expensive single meals on the menu, with the rest averaging between $4 and $8. If only I could have eaten more, I would have tried their burgers and hot wings, too! Next time I visit the VA, I'll definitely be stopping by again. And in response to another review for the same place, who the hell slaps MSG on fish before they fry it???? I don't think a restaurant deserves a 1 star rating for a telephone call with dumb question. Visit the place, eat the food, and then rate/review, or else I'm going to start rating all health food restaurants 1 star because "they obviously have no taste".

If you ever in the Richmond area look this place up if you want wings. Large variety of wings and sauces. Cook to order and served hot! I try this pace often and suggest you do the same.

I can't speak to their sandwiches as I only had their wings. Great wings, and a good size too. Not some dinky wings like some places in town (wing command I'm looking at you). The sauces are great, the teriyaki is sweet instead of just a flavored soy sauce. Other than the traditional hot, my fav is the Honey Garlic and Pepper. No spice at all, just sweet garlic goodness. They fry their fish and wings in separate oil so no need to worry about fishy wings.

This is a tough area to find something decent to eat. Saw this place opened a weeks ago so I decided to try it. They got every fried thing on the menu, including every sandwich imaginable. I skipped seafood and went for sammich and wings. The Philly cheesesteak was great. I was starving, and it hit the spot. Portion humongous for $5.25 and they will stuff the thing up with meat. Meat was missing gristle, and the bread was just right - not too thick or not too thin. Next time I'm going to ask about adding onions to my meat. But this is not where I will drive to get sandwiches. Let me summarize this joint for you guys in one word. Wings. (with honey garlic pepper sauce or Thai chili - okay that's more than one word but you know what I'm sayin'.) 1. They are cheap - $13 for 20 pieces. 2. They have 30 different kinds of sauces for your liking. Some of them I haven't heard of - braised teriyaki, wet lemon pepper, power ranch, hot Caribbean citrus, etc. 3. Out fresh fried, they are fantastic. I hate those dry as bones, quadruple fried wings that I occasionally notice at other franchise wing spots. These were surprisingly juicy and sauces just right. For the gastronomic desert that is Southside Plaza and Belt Blvd., this is as good as it gets. Easy place to grab a fast bite to eat.
