Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I eat there at least 4-5 times a month and have for the past 10 years! Happy Family is my favorite. Fast, friendly and extremely clean. Great variety of dishes available.

Okay...I'm biased because I used to work here, but hear me out. The food and staff are both wonderful. Dinner portions could probably feed 2 people and everything is prepared fresh in the kitchen (believe me, I've seen it) from scratch, nothing half-cooked and reheated. The sugar donuts that come at the end of your meal are to die for. There's a full bar available and the orders can get really crazy with take-out and dine-in on the weekends, but the service is fast and food regularly comes out in under 10 minutes. Here's a tip--you can get almost any combination of meat/veggies and sauce: I don't think General Tso's Shrimp is on the menu, but you can order it if your heart so desires. Allen and Jan are the friendliest owners I've ever encountered at any establishment, and they're willing to make your meal as enjoyable as possible. This is an above-average Chinese restaurant unlike any other take-out joints in the area, I promise.

The Tans (Mr. Allen Tan and his wife, Mrs. Tan) are about as friendly and accommodating business owners as one will find. The have a loyal following in Powhatan, and I can absolutely understand why. The food is good, but more importantly, they know each and every one of their regulars and greet them by name. And they don't just know them, they truly appreciate them. If you have the ability to go with a regular (fortunately, I did), then you will be treated like royalty. I am exceptionally impressed with the Tans because they took a big risk opening a Chinese food restaurant almost decade ago in a town that - at the time - had maybe 1 stoplight. As far as the food is concerned, it's good. Solid. On par with any of the higher end Chinese food restaurants further in town. And a good value for your money. They are very reasonably priced and their lunch menu is practically a steal. But as I've mentioned - it's really the service that brings people back again and again.

Not sure what all the hype is about. I prefer the little hole in wall take out places near the two food lions in Powhatan, much better food and cheaper! The owner however is super nice and his wife was one hell of a waitress when I had a business lunch there.

The hubs has already reviewed Allen's, but I have to throw in my 2 cents. I grew up in Powhatan and always wanted a Chinese restaurant. Thank God when we finally got one, it was Allen's! If you have ever eaten and any of the higher-end Chinese restaurants in town like Inter China and Jiang's, then you know Allen. He helped get both of those places going from what I hear. Anyway, the food is great and service is even better. Jan, Allen's wife, makes it a point to get to know all of her customers. And if you're lucky enough to get Amy as your waitress, order your kid a Shirley Temple with extra cherries. You won't regret it :) I've never had a disappointing meal from Allen's. The last time I was in VA, I was only there for 4 days and was happy to eat at Allen's twice.

The best Chinese restaurant in the Richmond area. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is casual elegant, and the staff is fantastic. I haven't found wonton soup better than Allen's in all of my travels. I'm getting hungry just writing this review :)
