Loved our dinner on the run. What a gem and great for the kids. Staff couldn't be nicer. Thank you!

Old pub feel, exposed beams, historic artwork with a small, quaint bar and dining area. Drink prices are reasonable. No reservations and no waiting area, so be prepared for that. British pub style fare with burgers, salads, and a few specials to mix it up. They need to pay better attention to the freshness of their fries, for sure. All-in-all, worth a shot for a few cocktails and a bite.

Fantastic pub located down an old cobblestone street. Walking in to the place is a little like walking back in time, except probably with better food and beer. We sat at a two-top by the window in the bar area, which has a few tables clustered around a fairly small bar. The dining room looked pretty welcoming too. As it was, we had a nice view of the restaurant and street outside. Very pleasant. Excellent food - tandoori-spiced ribs with very nice curried greens and flatbread, caesar salad with salmon. Free basket of bread. The well-prepared and superbly spiced ribs in particular I'd count as one of the better meals I've had this year. Great beer - local IPA on tap (didn't catch the name). Several wines available and our server took some time to help choosing one. Service in general was superb. Our server was quick, knowledgeable, friendly and always there when needed. Not too expensive at all. I have to say, I'm glad there weren't seats at the bar (where we normally prefer to sit). The bartender was pretty loud. He spoke too loudly and tossed dishes and glasses into the wash tubs behind the bar, creating an ear-splitting crash. The former is just who he is, but the latter is something I see in too many bartenders. My head would have hurt if I was sitting at the bar.

Really enjoyed the Moscow Mules here as well as the Steak and Frites entree. Both delicious. Good service and good food!

This is, by far, one of my most favorite restaurants in Colonial Heights Virginia. I am from out of town and it is so great to not have to go to a chain restaurant, but instead, enjoy a lovely meal in a comfortable atmosphere surrounded by lovely, kind people. Sitting in the bar you can tell that everybody knows each other. The menu is simple, reasonable, and tasty. They have a wonderful wine selection and local beers on tap also. Don't miss out on their chocolate pots de creme!

While visiting Petersburg, found out a friend of mine from Hawaii was also visiting. Contacted and made plans to have dinner. From a Yelp search, the Brickhouse Run sounded interesting. Made our way there, there was a public parking lot nearby. They had the British Pub look down pat, and we were quickly seated. Had to work the theme, so I ordered a local ale and the shepherd's pie. The pie came in a bowl, interesting choice. A little light on the protein, but it was lamb- I've only have had it in a Shepherd's pie in one other place, and it really elevates the dish. Price was on the high side too, but it was a special occasion. My friend had a soft shell crab dish wich was also tasty. Total with tip (for two meals and four drinks) was over $80. Having good food, good drinks, and shop talk with a friend from the hometown made it worth it. Looking forward to trying some dishes the next time my travels bring me back to this area. Recommend with caveats and will repeat.

Amazing Ol' Smokey burger at Burger Night! I took mine bunless and with a salad. Love this place in Old Town Petersburg. So much history and even Lincoln was here. The food is always great and the people are the friendliest!

Perfectly done grilled asparagus. Have had several steaks here now and every one was excellent. Great comfortable place to eat. Good selection of beers on tap and bottle. Highly recommend.

Horribly overpriced and overrated. My $24 swordfish "steak" was the size of a half dollar and it was dry. My friend's bangers and mash was obviously hours old. The potatoes were cold and the sausages looked liked they had been sitting in water for a day. My bill was $70 for a side of potato fries, salad, sword fish "special," and two small overpriced draught beers. If you are into gross food and outrageous prices this is the place for you. What's good about the place is the cool pub atmosphere and the name.

Okay, I feel for the people who think this is a 5 star. .. food is about average, chicken and pork tenderloin Good, but under seasoned. Beer is good, if a little on the warm side. Service excellent, would get a better rating with a bit more taste to the dishes. ..

Great local hang out spot with friendly staff big John! ) and hands on ownership (Joanne). Nice bar area and drink selection. Two standouts from the meal: Green chili and artichoke soup. Probably the best soup I have EVER had. If they could mass produce that every other soup co. Would be out of business. The other was the bread pudding. What an amazing treat-light, fresh, magically sweet. Just the perfect end to an amazing meal.

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in all of Petersburg Virginia and the entire Tri-Cities area. The specials are always delicious, the menu is seasonal, and you always feel at home when you're dining here. It's a great place to take out-of-town guests for a special meal or just a great place to meet up with some friends and have a couple beers.

Loved the Pub atmosphere they had going on. Probably helped that some re-enactors were in there that night from an event. Service was perfect. The waitress knew the menu and the beers they had and yes she could pair them with the items. The apps were HUGE and we should have been done with that but I wanted some of the other items. Shepard's pie was delicious. My wife kept trying to get me to try the crab cakes because they were so good. Just not my thing. Our bill was very reasonable and actually was LESS than what I was used to eating in the Heights. I recommend trying them at dinner time.

I dine with my battle buddy Ms. Lisa here a few nights ago. I needed time to put into words how I felt about this place. The restaurant is actually located right behind Wabi Sabi, my favorite sushi spot, on the side street. Walking in I felt a bit underdress being in jeans and a tshirt. Note there's is not a dress code set by the restaurant. We were seated by our waiter, Vince, he was very welcoming and told us about the drinks and meal selections by memory. He was pretty funny and helped me relax a bit more. The menu was easy, not to overwhelming by the selection, which I liked. I decided on the Butcher's Cut for entree and Lamb Sliders as an appetizer. He brought us both waters and a bowl of bread while we waited and looked over the drinks on the menu. I ordered the Long Island and my battle got the nogtini. The lamb sliders were unbelievable. Cooked to perfection. The first bite was....amazing. We were blown away. Two comes on one slider plate which was a good idea because I would have eaten all on the plate if more came on it. The nogtini was so good, I wished I had ordered it lol. My Long Island tea was good also. The 12oz ribeye was so good, again cooked to perfection. I'm a huge steak person. This was the best steak I've had in years. I didn't need any steak sauce or anything...seasoned perfectly. The potatoes were good, I don't really like mashed potatoes but I ate all the mashed potatoes on my plate that night. The green beans were seasoned well also. Everything was good here from start to finish and Vince was so amazing that we came back the next day and sat in his section again. He was amazing, his customer service was the best I've seen.... Ever. He kept us laughing and he knowledge about the food and drinks by memory was great. He even let us call him Ben since our memory was not up to par like his. This restaurant deserve all five solid stars. During my travel I will go out of my way to visit this restaurant with my husband as we pass through Va from Md. On our visit I ordered the Butchers Cut twice the Lamb Sliders and the Long Islands. My friend ordered the Brickhouse Chicken and the Shepards Pie. The appetizer with the shrimp and sweet potato..I forgot the name of it...listen everything was good. EVERYTHING.

This place is awesome. The food was great and the atmosphere was made for a great night out with friends and or significant other. The wait staff was very helpful and knew the menu so well that he easily was able to give great recommendations that were excellent. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

The Brick is a classic Petersburg success story: outstanding cuisine meets authentic characters for an absolute top quality experience. The challenge of turning British cuisine (generally considered to merit 3 stars at best) into fine dining is considerable. But like Churchill opposing the krauts, the staff here are filled with resolute determination as they turn staples such as Shepard's Pie and Fish & Chips into inspirational standouts. I have never had a bad meal here in probably 100+ visits. People who are not from Petersburg may not be aware that the Brick was a cornerstone of the Great Reformation of Petersburg that took place from the late nineties to about 2008. Legendary bartender Johnny $ helped bring a loyal clientele back into the bar over and over. This was during the smoking days, but the Brickhouse no longer reeks of putrid smoke. Thank goodness, because I love the new smoke-free Brick, and I no longer have to wrestle with the question of whether to enjoy the company in spike of the stench. The menu features an ever-evolving variety of dishes that lean heavily towards the best of the UK while maintaining a certain Southern flair that is driven by fresh ingredients from local sources. The secret weapon behind their success is the chef's support crew, which include at least two very dedicated long-time employees, Ritchie and Leroy. They help turn out some inspired entrees, and regulars know how much value they add to the team. The waitstaff includes a few standouts. Should you be lucky enough to draw Steffie, Carrie, Tyrreal, or one of the other standouts, you are in luck. Even the least of their waiters and waitresses are competent. The prices here are reasonable and fit within the local market. The setting on a cobblestone alley as well as the ambiance and decor conjure up a British pub, and any expats in the area will usually find their way here for a pint. Their monthly quiz night is a lively and popular diversion for the cerebrally stimulated Olde Town set. Best of all, their weekly burgers (every Wednesday) are notable for their quality and variety. Many varieties of fine beer on tap including cask-conditioned ale. The lower dining room is a great location for a date, as it is relatively quiet. They have catered parties for us and provided phenomenal value at reasonable rates.

A few months ago the ownership of BHR changed. I am happy to say that the quality and service has not. The staff and servers are kind and there seems to be a genuine desire for your to have a great experience. The Brick Chicken is amazing and the Chocolate Pot dessert in it self is reason to stop by. A little bit of England in Petersburg.

I love this restaurant. The decor, the ambiance, and the food was just perfect. My friend and I had a great time chatting and eating and we didn't feel rushed to pay and leave. The staff gave us enough space but didn't make us feel neglected and they were friendly. I ordered Chicken Divan which is "A Casserole of Boneless Chicken and Broccoli, topped with a Creamy Curried Sauce, Cheddar Cheese and Panko Bread Crumbs, served with Rice" and Ori ordered fish and chips "Beer-battered deep-fried Fresh Cod and French Fries with Peas" They don't have an extensive menu but Brickhouse Run makes sure there's something for everybody (including a vegetarian thai dish) bread basket before the meal had delicious bread and the coffee I had after the meal was good too. My bill for the chicken, iced tea, and coffee was about $18.00 which is reasonable for the amount of serving of the food and drink.

Once again, Yelp saves the day (or the dinner). This was a really cool English style pub in downtown Petersburg, VA. I ordered the fish and chips and I felt like I was back in foggy London. Another cool thing about this place, on the first Tuesday of the month, they have a "Trivia Night" to raise money for a local charity. I was sitting at the bar and got drafted onto a team. It was a hoot. The owner, from what I heard, is a lawyer in downtown Richmond, but he and his wife have this pub and live above it. He (Steve I think) was the one running the trivia night. He came up with some tough questions. I would have loved to stay for the remainder of the game and have a few pints, but I had to get back to work. Give it a try if you are in the area.

I would highly recommend The Brickhouse Run to any local or visitor to the city. It's tucked along a cobblestone alley in a beautiful brick building in the Old Towne Historic District. This was a great find during a work trip to Petersburg. The pub area is cozy and intimate, and the dining room is larger with plenty of space between tables for comfort, yet with a maintained cozy feeling. I was impressed by the menu options (spaetzle, fried oysters, various cuts of beef, traditional lamb Shepherd's pie, hearty salads, catch of the day) and use of seasonal vegetables. The drink menu is extensive and includes delicious beer combos (i.e. Lager & Cider, Cider & Guinness, etc.), and they offer half-pints of beer, my favorite size which is not offered in many establishments. The staff was incredibly friendly and thorough when explaining the specials or checking on ingredients with the kichen. Do try it - you'll be glad you did! (Vegetarian options available.)

I went there today for Sat brunch for my 1st visit. I had a the Eggs Benedict which was very good. Perfect amount of hollandaise, and it was on pieces of crispy Brioche. Friendly and attentive service. Restaurant is within walking distance to many antique stores. The ambiance bumped it from a 4 to 5. Very cozy and a step back in time.

Persuaded mostly by beer selection, my co-worker and I went back to The Brickhouse Run last night. Atmosphere- 4 Stars. Nice exposed brick walls and your typical trying to be an English Pub motif and decorations. As tastefully done as it could be. Note that there are some "regulars" who can be a bit much (aka drunk and singing... at 7:45pm) at the bar... but this is easily avoided by sitting in the proper dining area. Food- 4 Stars. This time we got crabcakes for an app, which were good albeit tiny (it is an app after all) and came with a nice mango salsa. We both got fish and chips, which were very nicely cooked with a proper thick and crunchy exterior. My only complaint would be the peas on the side, I know it's traditional but I don't care for them (and they were watery and needed some salt). Beer Selection- 4 Stars. They had some good local beers and a few of the British pub standards. Only complaint here was that the Guinness was too warm when my coworker for a black and tan. Service- 5 Stars. Bartender (Patrick) was friendly and personable.

This is a nice little pub/restaurant in Petersburg that tends to lean further toward "restaurant" than "pub." Still, they know how to make a half-and-half, so that's good. The food was THIS close to earning five stars from me. The crabcakes were delicious. The burger special (apparently available every Wednesday) was excellent. The Welsh Rarebit was a series of electrifying orgasms in my mouth (awesome imagery, right). Buuuuuuuut... the fish and chips were soggy, bland, and nasty. How can you call yourself a British joint and not know fish and chips? The food was, as a whole, excellent. I would say that if you want a good, sit-down dinner, come here. But if you want to catch the latest football match over a few pints with your mates, head to Pennylane in Richmond.

I've been to this pub a few times and I'm never disappointed. Some nights it can be a bit crowded depending on when you go so you may have to wait a bit. I always suggest going early! My boyfriend and I love it. I love the decor and the atmosphere of the place. If you're looking for British style food this is the place to go! Between my boyfriend and I we've tried Sheperd's Pie, Bangers and Mash, and the fish n chips. I suggest the Bangers and Mash!

This pub rocks. The fried green tomatoes when they have them are the best I have ever had. Make sure that you save room for the desert try the pots de chocolate. Most place serve this in a tiny little dish these guys serve it in a mug yes like a coffee mug. So order spoons all around and share this one it is the best!!! It will have you looking for the recipe

So I just moved to the area and this was one of the first places I tried. The food was really good. I few traditional dishes and then just some darn good eats. The drink choices here are comprised of a lot of regional beers which I'm having a blast trying out. I have been back a couple times and plan to keep returning because its a casual and friendly atmosphere with great food and good drinks.

I took a stroll down memory lane last week when I went to Richmond to pick up some government surplus that I've been hawking on eBay (look for desert patterned assault packs and vests and you've found me!). Then I remembered the tall beer and sheppards pie that I had at Brickhouse Run. I went on the recommendation of a co-worker who had lived in the Fort Lee area for over 30 years. I was not disappointed. Parking is a bit hard to find - but once you've parked and gone inside, you're welcomed by a pub like environment that invites you sit and enjoy your brew. Service was fast for what I can recall and the food/drink came out rather quickly for such a relaxed environment. For the food, I do remember the sheppard's pie being a tad salty - but hey, nothing to hold your water or replace your electrolytes after a good bender, eh?

    (4)
  • William B.

I wouldn't call this an English style pub so much as a pub styled on those in England. It has the design, but the food and drink selection have a distinct Southside Virginia influence. Not that that's a bad thing. In fact, the food is quite good and Richie prepares both unique combinations of food along with more standard fare (such as shepherd's pie). The place is full of character (and characters) with whitewashed walls, wood bar, hops hanging in the window, and postcards from around the world. Hang out at the bar after dinner and enjoy the conversation from the exceptionally friendly locals.

  • Lindsay G.

So went back a few more times and the food always seemed a little bit worse each time. We tried everything from the lamb to the steak and it never seemed to be worth the price. Not a bad place to eat but quite inconsistent.

Went for their "quiz" night on Tuesday - run by the owner. Also had dinner during the whole event, and made for a great "slow dinner, few beers & trivia" experience. The bartender actually took our order, and accidentally dropped our ticket in the kitchen in the wrong spot, causing our dinner to not be prepared until an hour later. Obviously we made the owner aware of this and he promptly got our food started and then gave us 50% off dinner. The bartender, aside from his error, was attentive and friendly. There were random British characters walking around the bar, and I got bumped by the belly of several overweight Brits throughout the course of my meal. Wtf mate? Suck it in. The beer selection is good (old school british style), and so is the food. I had the duck, which was awesome. Super heavy though. One buddy had the bangers and mash, and the bangers were very greasy - I think that's to be expected. Never had British food but I think this was a good first experience.

If you want a place that is reasonably priced, family friendly and great food then this is the place. The service was amazing and very friendly. We went on a Saturday night around 8; was warmly greeted and seated promptly. The beer selection is good and food is awesome. If ever back in the Petersburg area will make sure to go to The Brickhouse Run.

Wonderful restaurant on a quiet little cobblestone side street. Styled after an old British neighborhood pub. Very cozy and full of charm. I've been twice. Both times we were cheerfully greeted upon entry. Food portions were large and delicious. Wait staff pleasant and attentive.

Great restaurants in Richmond? There are plenty! Down here around Petersburg, no so much :( But wait....what's this? Down a small alley on a cobblestone street in Old Town Petersburg we find one. Brickhouse Run. I've only eaten there once, but I will surely return soon. The food was great. The service was fantastic. I thought the prices were quite reasonable as well. If you're looking for a great place to eat without having to travel to Richmond, look no further.

Not much going on in Petersburg, but this place is pretty cool! Guys who work at Ft. Lee come here for a pint and some surprisingly scrumptious pub food. My dad had bubbles and squeek and it was tasty! I got a salad with chicken on top and the chicken was pretty bland (no seasoning, i think it had been boiled?) but the rest of the salad was good. Next time I'll stick to the pub food to be safe. The bartenders and servers know the names of all the regulars and its a fun place for a drink and some food.

Crab cake wasn't right. It was warm but it wasn't brown or pan friend or baked at all. I don't know how they heated it up but it was bad. Quality ingredients just bad execution. I'll try it again, but avoid the crab cake.

The BR was my second choice after Andrade's but the latter was inexplicably closed the day after Hurricane Sandy passed by. Poor decision by Andrade's as I will come here again to sample more fare. The Welsh Rarebit was most excellent--I was tempted to ask for more bread to sop up what was left on my plate. The portion is enough to be a light meal if you choose to make it so. I usually judge English-themed pubs on there bangers and mash or fish and chips. I chose the F&C--it rated 2-3 stars. The fries were avg and I asked for the seasonal veggies instead of the peas that usually come with it. The veggies were so good I actually ate the squash too, because it didn't taste like squash usually does. Also opted to try the pumpikin creme brulee. The pumpkin part was very tasty though not set up well. The glazed sugar was thin and the taste was a little off even though it was not burned. If not for the Fish--i'd've given it the full 5 stars. Next time I'll try the bangers and mash. Forgot to check if it has a real dartboard.

Whoo.. Just stopped in for a quick meal based on reviews on yelp and boy were we glad we did! It's burger night and also the night before Thanksgiving, so the burger was tur-duck-en. Served with bacon, gravy and cranberry sauce! Dee-lish-ous! My wife had the [huge] fish and chips which I sampled, of course, and that was very good as well. Next time you're in Petersburg, this place is well worth the stop. Highly recommended!

A surprising, delicious find in Old Towne Petersburg. Although there's a tasty selection of 'traditional' pub food (shepherd's pie, fish and chips), their higher-end, Southern-influenced entrees really shine. I had the duck with bacon vinaigrette on corncakes, and it was fantastic. The others in my party very much enjoyed the chicken breast with sweet potato and sage spoon bread and pork chop with brandied peaches. All dishes were inventive and memorable, and the live Celtic band provided the perfect background music. Will definitely return!

About all I can say is "Eh" [shrugs] it's OK.....there's nothing terribly wrong with the service, the food was served beautifully, but the flavor and cooking technique was mediocre at best. Maybe we were there on an off night, but whoever was in the back wasn't much of a chef, more like a journeyman cook. Maybe we will try again, maybe not......we just weren't that impressed.......maybe the decor and location creates the buzz and and bumps up the rating......

I'm very confused by all of the high ratings for this establishment. My honey and I came out for a nibble on St. Patty's day and were greatly disappointed. The ambiance is old, (um historical whatever) our table was even slopped when we sat down, which was amusing but not a big deal. With all of the books along the back wall I noticed some dead spiders and dust and the table looked like it could use a wiping down. When the bread came out it was raw. I mean, not a little underdone, it was RAW and inedible. The waitress seemed as if we were a bother or inconvenience every time we tried to flag her down (since she didn't stop back on her own), but the support staff was actually friendly. The corned beef and cabbage, which was a special that day due to the holiday, to me lacked any real flavor and was dry yet fatty which is a strange combination, my wife on the other hand felt that it had the unique flavor of "dirty socks" and yes that is a quote. Between it all we left in a hurry and will most likely not go back due to service, cleanliness and food all being a bust which is disappointing since I was looking forward to having a Cheers here in Petersburg, I guess our search continues!

Delicious food, good beer selection, and live music - a real taste of Britain (with tasty Southern-y food). I would definitely go back. Ok, I'd plan a trip to Petersburg (with someone else driving) for the purpose of going back.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch. We've been checking the local restaurant scene in Petersburg for the past few weeks. What a neat location on an old cobblestone street. Service was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. My wife had the roast beef with caramelized onions and an awesome mustard and horseradish sauce. I had the crab cake sandwich which was served with spicy remoulade. Both sandwiches were very good and the price was reasonable. Overall, a great place for lunch. We can't wait to try dinner.

We were in town on business/pleasure, ended up here on a local's recommendation, and loved it! For me it was one of the high points of my trip. I had the trout in riesling sauce and it was so good I asked for the recipe (something I never do, but this place was so friendly I went for it). Service was good, atmosphere pubby and nice, food great-try it if you're in Petersburg.

Limited selection, but great tasting beers on tap. There were two specials the night my boyfriend and I went. He tried one, and I had the other. It was suprising how fancy the food was for an 'English Pub' in downtown Petersburg. Everything tasted amazing, but it was very small portions, at a fairly steep price. We were satisfied with the portion amount, and full, but certainly not stuffed (probably a good thing) and no leftovers. I would go back, but I want to try the fish & chips, I'm not sure if I would get the special again, unless it's for a special occasion.

My fiance and I went to The Brickhouse Run for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and was immediately captivated as we walked up to the entrance. The quaint restaurant sits quietly on a cobblestone street nestled in amongst other places of business and you wouldn't know it was there had you not been happen upon on the place or been looking for it. We entered and my eyes just danced as it is extremely inviting and you are greeted immediately upon entering by everyone it seems. We sit down in the dining room by the fireplace and are given the specials for the day and decide I decide on the roast beef sandwich and he has the fish and chips. We have spectacular service and the food was so yummy, but were informed to save room for dessert and were so glad we did. We ordered the chocolate pot and I cannot even begin to describe this sinfully wonderful dessert other than to say that it will definitely turn anyone's rainy day absolutely around. It is a pot of happiness for sure. We loved it so much we can back for dinner the following Tuesday and had the stuffed pork chop and the bangers and mashed along with another chocolate pot. We were not disappointed in the least. We will make sure we make this a regular haunt for sure.

The atmosphere was great! Felt like I was in Colonial times with great food and drink. The decor was appropriate for a British pub. It was crowded with a good variety of people and ages. I had a burger and an IPA. Both were great and I would gladly return!

Great spot in Petersburg. The feel inside the place as well as the cobblestones outside make this place feel as it it's just another pub in England, and that is a good thing. Their fried green tomato burger was a surprise and was really good. Next time I head over to Petersburg, I'll be sure to come back.

Try the Petersburger. This by far is the best burger I have ever had since I was a child. Great atmosphere with a touch of a history feel. The the staff is very friendly and welcoming. So if you are in the area of Old Town Petersburg give this place a shot.

Cool location in the town area. Food was good and the place was packed. Great atmosphere to have a meal with a small group.

The potstickers were pretty good. The chili lime shrimp stole the show for food. Order a double for dinner. The fish and chips were average at best. The beer selection is fabulous.

The Brickhouse Run offers a rare dining experience in historic downtown Petersburg. Modeled as a British Pub, the Brickhouse has a unique menu and décor. I was part of a group of 7 on a Wednesday night. Apparently, the restaurant offers specials throughout the week and Wednesday is a busy night. They do take reservations and I recommend making one. Although they were packed, our service was good as could be expected and our food ok. I don't claim to be a dining connoisseur but the food is slightly better than pub food. Which is fine w/ me, but want to give fair warning for someone wanting/expecting much more. The prices are very reasonable. We do plan to visit again since it was so busy that night. Definitely good enough for another try.

We love this place!! Went for valentines dinner and what a great experience. Only waited a little bit. Had a great beer that the bartender suggested while waiting for a table. Sarah is the best waitress. We have had her a few times and always helpful and so friendly. Got the special which was a filet and cooked perfectly. Wonderful place to go for great food and atmosphere.

I would have to say I'm very stingy with stars. I Believe this will be the first restaurant I've given 5 stars. Folks we are talking about pub style food and when I say try everything; try it! I went and had a skirt steak I believe this particular cut of meat is very hard to "cook" correctly. It was cooked to perfection. Tender and well seasoned. I asked for medium well and it still melted in my mouth and not tough. Fresh artisan bread is served with your meal the staff is amazing knowledgable . Honestly I'm speechless the selection of local beers which are excellent and atmosphere is perfection. Just try them if your in the area, when food is cooked right it doesn't have to be a 5 star gourmet restaurant.

This is really an excellent spot. Was in the area for business and was invited to a dinner here with coworkers. We arrived early and had drinks in the bar, which was vibrant on a weekday evening with attentive and friendly staff. The good service continued to the restaurant floor and everyone was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Often when you visit local haunts you end up with average fare, with perhaps one or two stand out dishes, but the Brickhouse really delivered across the board. I would highly recommend for the service, the atmosphere and the quality of the food. Definitely my top pick for this area.

Went here on a Saturday night. Definitely packed. I ordered the butchers cut ribeye. Tasted wonderful. Now my wife ordered the Lamb. I took a few bites of it. It tasted a bit stale and the meat was pretty tough. I should've told her to get something else. I went home after few drinks and by 2am was puking (no, wasn't drunk lol). I had some nasty non-stop diarrhea for about 3 nights (still recovering: it's the 3rd night now). That lamb did not sit well with my stomach. Definitely was not worth the money. That experience was enough for me.

Food here is really good and we got great service. I ordered the Ossobucco and it's really amazing. The pork practically falls right off the bone. They give you a really huge piece of pork and the combination of the pork with the beans is outstanding. Beer selection here is good also. They'll have some beers that are definitely not so common. We came on 80's retro night so our waiter was dressed as Crocket from Miami Vice and he did an outstanding job. I also ordered the green fried tomato and pork belly as apps. I was actually caught off guard at how small the apps were, I was expecting to share with my whole group. You get one piece of pork belly but it's solid. Could have used more flavor. Maybe 6 pieces for the tomatoes. I liked the tomatoes better. For an English pub the apps came out as if you were fine dining so be warned!

This place is the tits! Make sure you make it for brunch on Saturday. The dinner menu always changes but is always amazing. John the bartender makes some if the best cocktails and is usually one of the best forms of entertainment around.

Absolutely love this place! By far the best Restaurant this side of Richmond and even then, you would be hard pressed to beat it. The atmosphere is awesome, food is great and the service is second to none! I recommend this place to everyone I know and will continue as they are just that good!

Hubby and I went there on a night out. You walk in and there's a bar area up front and in the bottom left is the dining area. Cute, quaint and homey describe this restaurant! You get warm bread and butter which was great! Husband got the special of ribeye, blue cheese mashed potatoes and broccolini. I got the brickhouse chicken. Both were excellent!! Definitely coming back when I am back on VA!!!

The area this bar is located in is so quaint. The cobblestone streets and the decor make this place very charming. It is much smaller than I initially imagined. The boyfriend and I just came here for drinks. We were greeted upon arrival. The prices for our drinks were very reasonable. The couple next to us at the bar, did have some entrees which looked great. We will be returning to further try out their menu.

My wife and I had dinner here last Friday evening and were very pleasantly surprised. The entire experience was wonderful. My wife had the Shepherd's Pie which was prepared with lamb and it was tremendous. I had the Osso Bucco which was prepared with pork rather than veal, and with white beans and kale. It was terrific, as well. The whiskey, beer and wine selections were eclectic and appropriate for an English Pub. The service was friendly and fast and the restaurant has a warm and inviting ambience. Our server was Terrell and he did a wonderful job. This will be on our list every time we visit Petersburg.

A very nice atmosphere in this place, on a cobblestone alley. The owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the food has always been good each time I've gone in. The food has an English-theme to it, with Bangers and Mash and Shepherd's Pie on the small menu list. The food came quick, and the service was amazing. It is quite a nice place to eat.

Delicious and authentic. Great variety, well priced and portions are not inflated. You pay for the quality not the quantity and it is money well spent. Ella is a gem and the staff is friendly.

Styled like something out of early America or from the UK, this place looked really cool. Good decorating, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We stopped in for some food while travelling and were surprised with this place. Cool place to eat and the selection of food is that of the UK. Shepherds pie, burgers, bangers and mash and other popular England dishes. The burgers were amazing! Great flavor, juicy and the taste were all on point. Shepherds pie was also very good, a little small of a portion but was enough for lunch. The inside was clean, and very nice. Staff were very pleasant and friendly with big smiles. I wish this place was closer to home as I would visit very often as the food was really good.

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in RVA area. Went to brunch with my sister and mom and ended up having to send back 3 dishes. The eggs benedict came with a hard boiled egg, the soup of the day was sour, and the burger was severely undercooked. The service was terrible and the food was really disappointing. The only positive I can really think of is that the dining room is well decorated. Would not repeat.

This place has it all. Great atmosphere, history, good food, good beer and great service. However, the menu is very limited so picky eaters might have a hard time finding something. The chicken pot pie is outstanding and the sheppards pie even better. The fish and chips are authentic and the burger is everything they promise. The only thing I don't like about Brickhouse is the smell of the oil burning stove, but you do get used to it. Or, just have another beer!

We had a wedding brunch for 26 people and it was fabulous! The staff was attentive to our every need; the buffet (quiche, seafood crepes, Smithfield ham biscuits, potatoes, fresh fruit, chicken tenders and French toast to die for) was extraordinary and the two cakes, a bride's and groom's, fantastic! Flowers and linen tablecloths and napkins added an air of elegance for the quaint restaurant and the dining area is small enough so it felt very personal without being crowded. It was a perfect setting and meal! The price was very reasonable.

This place is absolutely wonderful. Tucked away, hole in wall, gem of a place. Great atmosphere and delicious food. Friendly and approachable service. I love their duck breast and snake bites. You must visit!!

Great food, service, and atmosphere. I absolutely loved going here. I took some people from my meet up group ( meetup.com/New-In-Town-R… ) there for lunch for one of our events. We had 8 people show up and it was fantastic. Everything from the baked potato to the Shepard's pie and even the humongous pork burger thing was to die for. The service was fantastic! They were always happy and ensuring everyone, our group and the other people in the establishment) were taken care of. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. The setting is good for a quieter night with your friends at a bar or even a nice work area for a less formal lunch meeting.

Another trip to Virginia's heartland (Petersburg this time) and another pondering why Northern Virginia has none of the colorful restaurants found in Richmond, Charlottesville, Staunton, and now Petersburg. Blame the uninspiring, easily gratified (Starbucks, CakeLove, Cheesecake Factory), easily distracted, corporate loving military / lawyer / Government faction in northern Virginia for the lack of interesting bars and restaurants ....but I digress. This is a pure British pub. And if you think a place like Union Jack's (complete with the mechanical bullshit) is a British pub, no hope for you. We didn't eat here but were greeted by the friendlist pub owner (American, but he lived in England for a while) you can conjure up. A very chatty bar tender, some great English (as well as Irish and American craft) brews on tap and in cans and bottles. I can't imagine a better place for downtown Petersburg residents to hang out in the upcoming cold winter. Who knew Petersburg could be so hip?

Great place - another yelp find! We stopped for dinner on the way back to DC from our NC furniture shopping trip. There were some good Yelp reviews so I thought we'd check it out. I had the shepherds pie and my husband had the prosciutto chicken. both were very good. The shepherds pie was a bit different presentation than I'm used to. It had the lamb and sauce on a plate with a large dollop of mashed potatoes scooped on top and the peas on the side. Wine list was limited but the beer selection was very good. I had a Left Hand IPA - I know nothing about beer but it was good. Service was excellent! The waitress's enthusiasm was great!

My boo and I went to this place to celebrate St Patrick's day...umm corn beef and cabbage who can go wrong with that...what at disappointment, they took a long time to help us. The place is old with a funny smell but oh well everything in Virginia is old. Customer was ok but the food wasn't good at all. Don't waste your time and go some place else.

Good food, but, both times I've eaten here the service has been subpar. One of the few 'fine dining' joints in Petersburg.
