Thin crust lovers unit! This pizza surprised me as its where the locals seem to love. Last time I tried a place like that I was so disappointed. Not here though! I have only tried the pizza and the garlic bread so I can't speak for their Italian cuisine quality. We got the chicken rustica. 14 inches of pure bliss. I am salivating just thinking about it.

This is the third location to Ynot's Great Neck flagship and Kempsville locations. This location was actually the prettiest of the three before the redesign of Ynot a few years back (now all are pretty classy!). The Norfolk location is convinient to ODU and downtown (right in the middle) so if you are in the area I would highly recommend it for pizza and casual italian food and sweets. Keep in mind, they also have a full bar!! I've been going to Ynot for 15 years and it remains one of my favorite casual restaurants. The pizza is fantastic (I love the crust and the cheese) and while it may have started as a pizza joint, it has grown into a classy Italian restaurant! In addition to pizza, they have excellent calzones, lasagna, pasta, etc., not to mention the huge variety of sumptuous sweets.

The selection was great however would have loved some vegan options like a number of the other local Ghent businesses. Had to eat vegetarian but the pizza margarita was quite yummy.

A monthly visit, going again this week. Very busy at times, wait isn't bad. Food is well prepared and staff friendly. As with any restrauant Fridays and Saturday's are busy. Parking can be an issue if you are not familiar with the area. The school parking lot is a good overflow and a short walk.

This has been a favorite for years. Good Italian; great Pizza; wonderful deserts. Great value and nice venue.

I decided to switch things up a bit and try a new restaurant so I thought YNot! I really love going to the ghent area. It's a nice place to park, walk, and visit different shops and eateries. I didn't expect much out of YNot, but it surprised me in a few areas. The restaurant is very nice, clean, and much bigger than I imagined. When I walked in, I grabbed VEER Magazine which was stacked at near the front door for a nice read during dinner. I was a bit disappointed that the Magazine was outdated by a whole month. Nevertheless, that wouldn't ruin an experience for me. Once I was seated, I had an opportunity to look over the menu which had much more variety that I was expecting! I love when I have delicious options at my fingertips :) I was definitely in the mood for pizza, so pizza I ordered. My server was not at all knowledgable about the menu when I asked her questions. It was my first experience in the restaurant so a little guidance would have been nice. But, I settled on 2-1 topping slices. The pizza slices were huge and very delicious! I wasn't very happy to pay almost $8 for 2 slices of pizza, but hey they were good and I left full. Mission accomplished I would give this particular restaurant on Colley 2.5 stars only because of the poor service and price of the meal. However, I would definitely try another YNot!

I'm a fan of thin crust pizza, especially the kind that cracks and crunches when you fold your giant slice in half in order to shovel it down faster. You won't find the wide variety of toppings that Cogan's has, but you'll find great and fast service, an ever expanding bar selection, and a super satisfying meal. I'm pretty sure their chop salad started a trend in the area-- Press 626 has a similar type of offering. I've learned that if I'm getting a slice to go (maybe to eat outside the Naro before the movie starts?) ask them to put it through the oven twice. Like I said, I love this crust, but I love the crunch of thin crust even more. Other gems that should get an honorable mention: The massive piece of lasagna that stands upright perfectly, even until the last bites. The variety of gelato that they will let you sample, and sample, and sample... The eclairs (technically, these are from Baker's Crust, which I appreciate because it's local businesses supporting each other).

I love pizza but seeing I have an allergy to wheat, its great to have gluten free options!

Pizza was above average and the gelato was over the top. AAAA ++++ Service was good as well. I'd come again.

The 5 cheese pizza and buffalo wings are a favorite! The desserts are hard to pass up and usually end up in a bag for home.

Every time I am in Hampton Roads I always enjoy the food this place serves. This place is always clean and the staff are very friendly and its in a very nice part of town. The Pizza is by far one of the best. They definetly set the standard of how pizza should be. I've tried many other items on the menu and like always, I was very satisfied. The food will taste so good and with the size of the portions you will have to learn to control your self.

Parking can be a bit tight, there's street parking available but I just parked behind the restaurant. The interior is spacious , outdoor seating is also available. I had Alex as my server, she was very nice and prompt. I had met up with my friends and we all ordered something different. I came here with a plan, I hadn't had a good salad in awhile and hoped Ynot would not disappoint. They have a "Custom Made Chop Salad" where you get the paper and make your selections. The salad starts off at $5.95 but with the addition of cheese, meats, other veggies, it'll add up quickly. You pick your greens, toppings, meat/cheeses, dressing, and style of chop. I ordered the mesclun, broccoli, alfalfa sprouts, mushrooms, bacon, and fat-free raspberry vinaigrette. There are definitely lot of options here so it's a great place for a vegetarian. Yum! I am definitely a fan! Although the flatbread crisps on the side didn't do much for me. One of my friends ordered the Deluxe Pizza. It has pepperoni, black olives, green bell peppers, sausage and mushrooms. Her and I agreed the pizza wasn't that good. The crust was terribly hard to chew through like ciabatta but even more dense. I just wasn't feeling this pizza. I mean I'm not saying it's terrible but it certainly wasn't great. My friend typically likes to cut through her pizza with a fork. Don't ask me why, but she does. And I just watched her struggle. And continue to struggle. One good note, this pizza isn't super greasy. My other friend ordered the lasagna which included a garden salad and Italian bread. Nothing too special about this. I do not recommend ordering this dish. Yes, it was a good portion size; however, it was bland. I'd give it points for giving a comfort food feeling but it would have definitely been better with more flavorful sauce. Ynot offers different menu items aside from the pizza, salad and the main entrées such as subs, pasta and dessert. Oooh, desserts. They have a display cake of the baked goods and gelato. I ordered the wildberry gelato. MMMM... I liked the gelato here and there's quite of bit of variety to choose from. In general, Ynot is a good option with an extensive menu. I'd definitely come back for more salad and gelato.

Their pizza is good - NOT AMAZING - just good. I LOVE their chopped salads though. An amazing idea - I wish more restaurants make salads the way they do. Gelato is da bomb! Really. They offer various flavors and toppings. Really fair prices.

Twice I have gone here. The service is TERRIBLE and the food WAY over priced for what it is. Won't be a 3rd time.

Nice plce to dine in. The pizzas and wraps that I've tried were good but nothing outstanding. I really like the dessert bar in this place. It looks like heaven! :)

YUM! Love this place. Pizzas are made fresh to order and there are lots of variations other than the standard. This location has a large bakery/gelato station where you can sample the gelato flavors and see the various fresh baked italian goodies through a large glass display. Their YChop salads made to order just for you are my favorite items. There is an endless way to make the salad and you choose everything, the lettuce, all the mixers, meats, dressing, even if you want the dressing tossed in or drizzled or on the side. DELISH. I've had their baked ziti and white pizzas as well and both were VERY good. Love this place, was looking for a good Italian pizza place to replace the one we miss from back home, this still isn't what we're missing from home, but it's close!

The Better Half, My Sister and I all stopped in to ask "Y Not Pizza?". After our experience, we certainly say YES PIZZA! We ordered the Breakfast Pizza, which is endowed with: Egg, Five kinds of cheese and Bacon! I think the Bacon was the big selling point here with the ladies, but it was much better than I was expecting. Everyone seemed excited with the prospect of returning in the future. The service was a bit lacking, and as it turned out our waitress was both waitress and Bartender. This seemed to keep her very busy and unable to fully do either job well. I certainly don't hold this against her personally, but it kept me from giving it 5 stars.

I like the atmosphere and food portions at this restaurant. They offer a good value for the price. Eggplant Parmesan is superb and is served with a aide salad that could be a main entree. Chopped salads are also good if you choose the correct combinations.

  • Steph W.

I know this is a pizza joint, but I have yet to eat their pizza. I can, however, speak of their chopped salads. I LOVE chopped salads and Ynot makes it even better when they give you a little checklist with all the ingredients you could put on this salad. Granted, I drive myself broke putting EVERY ingredient, but it is fantastic. The service is fine. Not good, but not bad either. The prices are fair.

I live 2 blocks away, and love dining out within walking distance. Y Not Pizza is one of those places that keeps me coming back. Always greeted with a warm welcome, and smiling staff. I've gone here for pizza, wings and a few drinks or even later night to grab some gelato. The gelato is key for me, fresh and delicious flavors such as mint choco chip, stracciatella and many others. The pastries in the window next to it are always screaming my name too, black & white cookies, canollis or even eclairs. Perfect date night just as well as a big group of friends, even if you ate somewhere else stop by with your date for the gelato, you'll be glad you did.

Order consisted of: 2 - Sweet Teas (Tasted like sweet water) 1 - Bruschetta (Soggy Bread)- Tasted like it came out the microwave 1 - Eggplant Parmigiana and a side of fetuccine w/ Red Sauce (Watery Sauce) (The Eggplant was GROSS...and this dish gave me the runs! It ruined my weekend.) 1 - Veal Marsala - The veal was thin, tough, and had gristle. The mushroom sauce tasted like it consisted of remnants of what's burnt on the bottom of the pot. The steamed brocolli was opaque yellowish green and soggy. The roasted potatoes were dry and overcooked. Service: Mediocre at best. I had to ask for refills. No follow up after we got our food to see if we needed anything or ask how the food was. Sitting on the veranda was nice, but the cheap aluminum chairs gotta go. This food experience was the worst I've had in a while. I wish I would have boxed up the leftover eggplant parm so I could have proven food poisioning. I just didn't see the point in having another awful meal. YNot definitely would have gotten sued for this one. Stay away unless your looking to lose weight the hard way! I welcome any questions from YNOT, their management, concerned, or interested parties. I spent $42 on what tasted worse than a microwave dinner meal. Your food is overpriced in general. I wouldn't mind paying this much for a quality meal, but not this. What's going on with your restaurant YNOT!? Is it lack of management, competent personnel, or do you always put out substandard product?

Visiting Norfolk - stopped by Ynot Pizza on Colley Avenue - we had a nice meal. Restaurant is nice, clean, kid friendly. Menu is extensive - we had a Greek Salad and the Bacon Pizza - both were good. Service was good (somewhat overbearing, but that probably beats the other end of the spectrum). The desserts looked lovely, we were too stuffed to try. Also, quite an extensive beer and wine list - with season beer available. Prices were perhaps a tad high, but they didn't seem too bad.

We ate here because we needed a place that is dog friendly. What a lucky day for us! The food was delicious. I had a calzone which was not as big as you get as most places, but just enough to eat in one sitting. My MIL ate a salad and slice of cheese pizza which she enjoyed as well. For dessert we had a chocolate covered cannoli and creme gelato. The gelato was amazing!!! We liked the food so much we are headed there again for dinner! Oh, also the service was excellent.

I would give it a 2.5 if I could. We went there on a Saturday night. They had the most reasonable wait of any place on the block. Garlic rolls weren't fantastic, the garlic chunks on them were burnt. We split a 18" chicken rustica pizza (chicken, red pepper, onion, basil) it was ok but kinda bland. I would have liked to try a dessert but was too full, they did look good. Overall..... mediocre without being bad.

Looks nice with their covered patio but suprisingly rude service and food quality bring a big nada for this place. Still seeking pizza on my visit.

Wife likes this place but I don't. Because of that I've given them several tries and they consistently ruin my meal and thus my evening. Twice I've had to go to get something to eat after leaving here. On one occaision I asked them to leave the olives off of my calzone and they didn't. The waitress did not return until my wife had finished her dinner to see if everything was ok and when I told her the reason that my meal was not touched she had a puzzled look and told me that she told them to leave them off and just didn't understsnd why blah blah blah and offered to refill my water. On another occaision, we ordered a pizza and the amount of garlic they used was absolutely absurd. Like who would be able to eat that much garlic in a lifetime other than if you were pursued by vampires? On another visit, I ordered a chopped salad with additional tomatoes. The waiter brings me a form to fill out. Ok I can see that would be a great idea in order to get it done right when adding several items( as they have many) but I'm not the waiter and I expect to be able to verbally communicate that I want a salad with lettuce and tomato with having to fill out an application. I don't find it trendy to write my own order for the chef and I'm certainly not going to pay for the "priviledge" of doing so. So, the end result is that I just don't set foot in this spot anymore. I've discovered from talking to others the neighborhood that my expierence is not all that unique.

Visiting our grandson at ODU and wanting a nice lunch - but limited to restaurant choices because we had the dog along. Y Not Pizza was open and had a nice outdoor space. Friendly and sharp waitress gets 5 stars, but the food . . . not so good. The (Greek salad was served without a tasty dressing - "help yourself to the oil and vinegar on the table." No onions, cukes, or green peppers, but plenty of carrots in this Greek salad. CARROTS?! The Italian cold cut subs were just OK. Very bready, and not as much meat as one would get on a Subway $5.00 foot-long. We asked for oil and vinegar on the subs expecting a tasty seasoned Italian dressing, but again, we were directed to the oil and vinegar bottles on the table. Pizza, pasta, or gelato may be their specialties, don't know, but I do know we will not be returning there to find out.

  • Kathie S.

Service was fine. Thin crust sausage pizza was bland, sausage was extremely thin sliced. Black plastic plates have been used so much they are white from all the cuts. How I don't know the silverware was so thin they looked and felt like the were from a school cafeteria. Tossed salad was expensive for what you got. The peppercorn dressing was good. To be fair I'd have to go back and try something else on the menu, maybe by then they will have replaced their plates and silverware.

I went here for lunch and ordered the a small pepperoni pizza with a steak and cheese sub. The pizza was mediocre however I was surprised that the sub was tasty. Not a bad place for the price.

I like this place because it's close and it's usually pretty lively. Notice that food is not the top reason. Just went there tonight. Had the bacon tomato pizza which was pretty good. The crust was a little crisp but still pretty good. Go here often and most of the time, it's nice. It can get kind of loud and they had tvs on in multiple directions. Kind of weird because it's not a sports bar nor a chain. TVs in a restaurant do not exude "fine dining".

I had Y-Not pizza at the Ghent location about two weeks ago. It was a carry-out order and when I went to the location to pick up the pizza I was very impressed. It's very nice (and new) on the inside, with plenty of seating, a cozy bar, and a huge dessert bar (gelato too!) up by the cash registers. There is also a patio area with a good amount of tables and chairs. I wish I had been as impressed with the food (cue Debbie Downer music). We got the 18" cheese pizza, which was nothing special at all, some might say because it was only cheese but it just lacked a lot of flavor and was pretty dry. Also had an order of garlic rolls which were even more disappointing - very dry and not seasoned nearly enough. However, I will hope for the best and give Y-Not pizza another chance.

Ynot pizza on Colley Ave did not live up to expectations. Our server, Casey, had to be ask several times for items. Salad came after the main entre. The Caprese salad the tomatoes were not fresh and in general just was not good.

It's a nice place to go with friend... average italian foods but not anything to write home about. I don't mind coming here every once in a while but thats about it. I don't enjoy the pizza... feels like reheated cardboard like. Chicken Alfredo is amazing! Soups were luke warm. Come, but only if you are bored with other choices.

Overall, I am a big fan of YNot. While dine-in lunch might be hard during the workweek for anyone outside of Ghent, I definitely have them on my rotating dinner list. They offer pick-up and delivery and you are also able to place your order online. Outdoor seating is available if you want some fresh air while you eat. Two thumbs up! ~Alex I have been a YNot fan since living off Shore Drive back in the 90's. I like the Ghent location just as well. The interior still needs a little work in my opinion too. There is evidence of the former bar that still hasn't been completely converted, but overall the interior is designed using warm, relaxing colors. I ordered 2 slices of white pizza and a soda. As Alex mentions, it took FOREVER to get our lunch. I'm blaming it on the Stromboli, because I'm pretty sure my pizza was already cooked and waiting. However, YNot does not skimp on portions or content. Everything was delicious! _Laine

I came here a couple weekends ago and glad I did... I have never been to a "pizza place" that has been at this level, the inside had all the key decor features that make Ghent such a nice place to live. They are very clean from top to bottom and the pizza was.... Wow.... I liked that they take their own idea of ingredient additions and actually make something that is delishious, I have been to many a pizza place an they try to do their own take on pizzas and it is just horrible leaving you with the thought "have they actually eaten that or did I just get "punk'd" where's Ashton??? Gladly this is not one of those places... They also have a full bar and a great staff... I am no longer a big pizza guy but next time I want pizza that is where I am going!!

    (4)
  • Shannon M.

The decor is good- fun, clean and I really wanted to like it. I got a veggie salad- great pick your own idea- it was pulverized (they call it chopped) when it got to me. Very disappointing- I don't need my food pre-chewed for me! We got a Bruschetta for the table- it was so bad, we all took one bite and just put it down on our plates. I mean, how can you screw up bruschetta- simple, basic Italian. The parm sprinkled on it tasted "off" and maybe there was a ton of vinegar in the Bruschetta? The flavor just tasted bad. The pizza we got was ok, it looked good, but the crust was mushy. It was thin and if it was crisped, it might have been ok. We really wanted dessert, but after the bruschetta- I was afraid what they would do to a cannoli.

  • Stephen R.

Not a bad little place, but certainly nothing special. We ended up here because we were in the neighborhood and couldn't make up our minds... so YNOT? Sorry, I know that was lame. The service was friendly if just a tad bit slow, but the place is nice and we sat out on the patio because the weather was so nice. The menu is pretty predictable for a place that advertises itself as "Pizza & Italian Cuisine". Though, the pizza diversity on the menu looked intriguing. I ended up getting a calzone because I didn't think I could finish a whole pizza and the slice options weren't very exciting. The calzone, as it turned out, was pretty decent. Not amazing, not outstanding, but decent. The real problem here is that this place is surrounded by much more interesting places to eat. But if you're indecisive, why not?

Nothing super amazing here but the calzone I had was tasty and our waitress was really great.

This place is a safe bet to go when you want something good to eat. I had a party of 12 people and I called ahead to make sure this was not a problem; on a Saturday. When we arrived they had everything already set up. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The food came out hot, fresh and all at the same time. Out of 12 people no one sent the food back no one said the food was nasty. I had the Baked Ziti; good amount of good for the money. This is always a good thing. Their Gelato is great; I had the Mama Mia. I wish they had one in NC. I would suggest that they have 1-2 pictures of the inside of the restaurant.

The first time I ordered a pizza here it was a straight up veggie pizza with vegan cheese...and it didn't come with any pizza sauce! My bad for not reading the menu I suppose (but seriously, what pizza doesn't come with sauce?) Haven't made that mistake again and every time I order my pizza is perfect. They do put an odd assortment of vegetables on their veggie pizza (cauliflower, anyone?) but it works. For vegans, those who are lactose intolerant, or people just looking to eat less dairy, you can get daiya vegan cheese on any of their pizzas (not sure if there's a charge). They also just started a made-to-order salad item on the menu and I can't wait to check that out. If you insist on winding down each meal with dessert (ah-hem) they have a great selection. I love their sorbets and the selection and flavor of what they offer rivals that of most gelato/sorbet shops I've stepped foot inside.

have had pizza from here a few times. I've not had anything else here, so I can only speak to their pizza. Its OK, not great. Both times, the crust was a little bit floppy for my taste....prefer crispy. Delivery was easy and quick. The margherita pizza looked pretty sloppily made and was disappointing (pretty sure it was made with canned tomatoes---a "no-no" for a margherita pizza). I think I'll try something other than pizza here next time, since theres a lot of options and Ynot seems like a nice, well-run establishment.

I ordered an individual pizza slice when I was here, which the waitress described to me as "huge". It was big, yes, but when I think "huge" I think of what they give you at their nearby competitors Cogan's when you order a slice of pizza. The waitress brought me the wrong kind of pizza, then proceeded to argue with me about what I had ordered. I'm from the midwest, ok? I sure as shit know I didn't order anything with vegetables on it, especially something with the word "veggie" in the title. And of course, there was no discount, apology, or anything of the sort for messing up. Just me sitting there watching the hubs eat his pizza while waiting for mine to be made. I have ordered from here for delivery as well, and they have this rad little feature on their website where you can see when your pizza has been made and when it's on the way. I dig. It doesn't make the best "morning after" pizza if you will, but overall it's fairly quality. I'd like to try some of the other things on their menu, but so far I just give this place a mediocre "ok".

Very good pizza. The crust tastes like a brick oven pizza should and there is a good proportion of sauce and toppings. Good range of other Italian staples on the menu coupled with a decent selection of beer makes for a good choice any time.

We decided to try out Y Not Pizza the other day having driven past it so much in the past. I'm funny about my pizza. I like it a certain way--crust not too thick, sauce not sweet, cheese not too greasy, etc. This seemed to fail in every way. I did not care much for the crust which I thought was dry and tasteless and too thick for me. The sauce was definitely too sweet and left a funny aftertaste. And the cheese was very greasy. I honestly couldn't finish my second slice, which is not a good sign. This is really a shame, and despite this first experience, I would be willing to try it again, one more time, but I would order something else entirely. I say this because the place is clean and the staff is very friendly. They have a large menu that offers a lot, so perhaps I just caught them on an off day or something.

Ynot is a nice little pizza place nested on Colley. They have outdoor seating and do allow you to bring dogs. They do not advertise ANYWHERE that they offer vegan cheese, but they do! I had the first vegan calzone of my life here. Service can be a little slow, but is always friendly. The food is pretty good, but I never find myself thinking, "Damn, I wish I was at Ynot right now." I would definitely recommend giving them a try!

Was in the area and decided to get some nom nom. The pasta dishes were seriously lacking in flavor. I got the sausage and peppers on penne with marinara sauce. It didn't taste bad really, it was just bland. The pizza is okay, but if you want pizza just go to cogans a few blocks away. Prices are around 10 bucks. Would not reccomend, and not going back.

My husband and I come here fairly frequently and have gotten consistently good service and food. We were there last week (Tuesday) for lunch and got amazing service from our server, Ally. She did a great job blancing several large tables (with separate checks - ugh) and never neglected us. In fact, her service was better than we'd ever had at YNot. Now we like the restaurant even more; it has good food coupled with outstanding service that makes for a really great, go-to option for us. Thanks!

I previously wrote a short review of this restaurant, but I am going to add a few more details here. When I worked at the Y-not location in Virginia Beach, what impressed me was the effort that was taken to get the ingredients from a non-standard distributor, and also, the work that was put in to do simple things that you may not appreciate without paying attention at first. The bread was baked in the restaurant daily. The sausage was purchased, roasted, and sliced in the restaurant. The cheeses and many of the basic ingredients were all acquired from a higher-quality distributor (AKA not Sysco). When you taste the food, if you are paying attention, you will notice the small differences in the quality of the cheese, the flavors in the sausage, etc. I would try the pizza here first. The sausage is especially good, and if you're into Calzones, try one of those too. The italian meals are good as well, but I would go first with the pizza, which is what makes this restaurant special in my opinion. Some of the italian dishes I loved, while some of the others were not the same quality. The Lasagna, at least while I was there, was made from scratch in the restaurant.

This is my third visit here, and each time it gets a lower rating. Honestly it starts with the hostess and then servers, all who need a deeper sense of customer service and 'what its all about'. It was not crowed and had a lot of open seating, but try as we did to be seated AWAY from the crying children and father who took his shoe off to let his daughter smell his feet, we coudn't. Ok, now to the insipid , lukewarm food. No Italian taste here, more like supermarket sauce and rewarmed leftovers. I ordered a pasta dish with sausage on the side.... the non attention server brought me cut up sausage as though we were 5 year olds.Never mind the fact it just had no special taste or spices. My wife ordered eggplant... again, Celentino frozen is better.. Each a glass of wine and did I mention a 'Greek Salad' uh... no cheese , and a small serving of dressing? And the bill, near $80.00. We do not mind paying for great food or service.. but not this mess hall style chow. Know what? We will stick with our tried and fav... East Side in Portsmouth

This place was absolutely fantastic. The service we had was exceptional. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and promptly seated in the outside dining area. Our waitress was lovely. I don't remember her name, but she's a redhead with her tongue pierced-- make sure you get her! She stood with my boyfriend and his best friend for a good ten minutes giving us suggestions and helping us figure out the cheapest way to get the vegetarian white pizza we wanted with the specific toppings we craved. However, she did tell us that their Garlic Rolls were "just garlic knots--" a total misnomer. These were the BEST garlic knots I have ever had in my life. Super light and fluffy inside, buttery and covered in fresh garlic on the outside, served with as many cups of marinara sauce as you end up needing (I think we went through something like three between us!). When our pizza came out, the crust was the perfect thickness, the eggplant on top was crunchy on the breaded outside and succulent on the inside, the broccoli was fresh and had that delicious, nutty, roasted-broccoli-flavor. All the toppings we chose were obviously fresh. They were not pre-packaged, frozen vegetables and I found this really impressive. Even the cheese on the pizza was delicious. It had ricotta on it-- and I hate ricotta-- and it was just out of this world lovely. PLEASE try this place if you're in Norfolk!

I agreed to lunch with a friend last weekend at Ynot thinking I'd be stuck eating pizza. Much to my surprise they had a card you can fill out for a pick-what-you-want salad. It was great! I had mesclun lettuce, beets, avocado, blue cheese along with more standard items. You can even add meat. You get a few items free but then they charge you per item so it can be expensive but it was fresh and good. A great lunch option.

we went this past weekend and had very very VERY salty pizza. when i stopped the waitress to let her know the pizza was salty, she looked at me quizically and i felt bad for "complaining." however, another waitress came by and commented that there was a new guy who had made the sauce and that they had had complaints the night before about the pizza being salty. at that point, i think they should have immediately refunded the pizza. instead, they commented that we had already eaten half the pizza (we were hungry, i thought the saltiness during my first piece was my fault due to the excess parmesean, i love cheese), and could give us half off. after i thought about it, i was appalled. first i was appalled that they didn't work harder for our allegiance - the pizza was awful with all the excess salt. second, i was appalled that they served the pizza in the first place! if they knew it was salty to begin with, why did they serve it to us? oye - bella pizzareria is MUCH better - don't be fooled by the shiny exterior of ynot. it's a nice, yuppy place to go, but there are much better places on colley to eat, especially for pizza.

Really annoyed... I have been craving Alfredo pasta and when I got home with my to go order the pasta had basically NO sauce on it (which was an extra $2). Oh and the broccoli was an extra $2 as well and I got four pieces. Awesome. Will have to walk across to noodles and company next time.

I was in Norfolk for business and came to this place with my colleagues for lunch. They are a chain throughout the city (I love the name, it's catchy). It was a beautiful day so we choose to sit outside. We all ordered from the lunch specials because they were a good deal and under $10. I ordered the sicilian slice with a salad. The waitress was pleasant and patient. We were a big group and changed our mind several times. The food came out and everyone was satisfied. My pizza was good. I ordered extra sauce because I like it saucy and my salad was crisp and fresh. If in town again I would come here for a quick cheap lunch.

This place is Olive Garden with pizza. The plates have been scratched and chipped for a couple years now along with the stools in the bar area. The chairs are so bad they've ripped holes in my clothing. The pizza sauce is so sweet now it's gross. Another review says it tastes like spaghetti-os and its so true. There is really nothing remarkable about this restaurant. The appetizers are typical fried stuff and some (and are frequently served with lettuce which is WEIRD). The cheese toast tastes like the Texas cheese toast from the freezer section. The sandwiches use regular deli meat. The pasta dishes come with a pile of pasta so they can slack on the rest. The desserts are pretty typical. The cakes are similar Sysco stuff that other area restaurants serve. The cookies tend to taste like the fridge. The gelato is hit or miss and with Strawberry Fields across the street there is no reason to bother. The service is hit or miss as well. Lots of college and high school students that tend to talk, sing, or use their phones instead of doing their jobs. I've yet to see anyone trying to rectify this as the situation has only worsened over the years. It's really disappointing how terrible this restaurant has become. It used to be at least okay when you wanted a quick bite to eat, but it's not even worth that now. It's clear from the broken dishes and chairs to the bad food and bad service that the owners just don't care anymore.

Italian Stromboli! I really like this place! Good food quality, value and service. The Italian Stromboli was a nice portion and tasted very good. I had the Tortellini soup...meh..not so much. Too much broth celery & onions and not enough tortellini. I went with a group of eight for a business lunch and everyone was positive about their food. I server Dani, was professional & attentive and was good about making suggestions from the menu. Great atmosphere and the menu selections looked good. If I was local, I would def return.

The interior of the restaurant appeared clean and modern. I loved the lighting and the ambiance. I ordered the vegetarian calzoni and was quite pleased. My daughter ordered the same and added anchovies. She and I both agreed that our food was tasty. I enjoyed the flavor of the seasonings and it had a perfect amount of vegetables and cheese inside. While waiting on my meal and to the suggestion of my cousin, I decided to take a look at their pizzas and desserts on display. I'm glad I didn't order the pizza. It didn't look very appetizing at all. Especially the square pizza that I believe is called the Sicilian. It looked hard and plain. My cousin was about to order it. I'm glad she took a look at it first. She quickly changed her order because it was not what she had in mind or what the waitress had agreed was deep dish pizza. Overall, I was pleased with my meal but I doubt I'll ever order pizza here.

Sicilian is not deep dish...Im screaming that to anybody that is told otherwise! I came here on a Friday night, unlike all the other businesses on Colley there was no wait and it wasn't very busy (that should be your 1st warning). The waitress I had was very friendly and had a great personality, but working in a pizza place, knowledge of pizza should be necessary. One of the menu items there is a Sicilian pizza. I asked my waitress to describe it, she said, its like deep dish pizza. Boom, my heart skipped a beat and I wanted it. But since I've only experienced true Chicago deep dish pizza, the one that takes upwards of 40 minutes to cook I asked...is it like Chicago deep dish pizza....YES she said. I was sold, take my money and give it to me please. Well something popped in my mind. I should ask her how big it is. She described it as a square pizza....um, no that's not deep dish. She proceeded to say, well its sitting on the counter, you can go look at it. What I saw was what I could best describe as school cafeteria pizza. It had the thickest layer of cardboard like crust with a tiny layer of cheese and sauce. This is only my 2nd experience at a Ynot and they are not panning out to be a place I want to return to again.

Nice looking place. I had a steak and cheese sub. Came with chips, fries extra :( my niece had pizza and said it was ok. Service was good. Nothing special about Ynot. A nice italian eatery selling subs, pizza and pasta. They do sell gelato and its off to the side when you walk in. Set up like a little ice cream parlor.

This place has a lot to offer. They carry pizza, wings, garlic knots, and the whole nine yards. I wanted to order a pizza for takeout and they have a very extensive menu online. I recommend coming in to eat to rest assure the food is hot and fresh, I ordered once for pick up and was not as pleased as I should have been, but both Luke and Wally were really nice and addressed the issue quickly to make me a happy customer. I will be definitely dining in soon and will be trying their calzones which I hear are terrific!

This was my first and last time visiting this location. We have eaten at other locations and enjoyed the food and service. We came to this location as a part of a beer crawl. This location offered a slice of pizza or garlic knots along with a sample of craft beer. The 2 bartenders were extremely rude to us. They refused to even acknowledge us even though we were sitting at the bar waiting for service & other patrons told them we were there before them. It wasn't busy & the dismissive service made me believe we were not served because we were not welcome. One of the waitresses brought us out hot pizza that other bar crawlers ordered for us since we couldn't get service. The pizza was average but the service and treatment left a lasting impression on me.

Ynot is a great pizza place. Their pizza is DELICIOUS, with just the right amount of cheese, and not an overload on sauce, unlike many places. The crust is perfect New York style, not too thick for good folding, but not so thin that it rips when you try to take it off the rest of the pizza. The gelato was also great. I would definitely recommend.

Stopped in to grab gelato. They young lady helping us was extremely polite and patient as I was with a party of five and four of them couldn't make their mind up with what flavor they wanted. Next time I am on the area I will have to try some of their menu items.

Y not? Better to name the place Y Bother. This restaurant is the answer to the question nobody is asking; what happens when you combine Sysco's low end merchandise with average cooks? Below average fare for below average tastes. I think the place knows it, as the portions are huge and the cost is ~$10/entree. Trust me, it is not underpriced. Specifics? Well, lets see, the spaghetti is of the bulk dried variety. I've had the canned tomato sauce before on a desperate college night when calories took priority. I tried the clam sauce too. I mean canned clam sauce with some tasteless olive oil. I can confidently state that TJ's sells better canned sauces and the taste of tin is a bit milder! Oh yeah and if you order salad, be prepared for the Ken's special. Oh Sysco! To be fair, this place is a chain. So to rate it on a chain level I'd say its the Arby's of chain Italian restaurants. Every time I pass an Arby's I wonder, "how is this chain still around?"

Ynot a great local joint with good New York style pizzas. I have always been happy with anything I've ordered and my favorite is the white pizza with tomato and spinach. This time I had the stuffed pizza, which is a pizza toped with more dough. (kind of like a calzone but much less bread-y) my boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised with the pie. However, I would ask for extra sauce on the side for dipping!

My boyfriend I decided to stay home to watch football, and we thought a pizza would be great... Unfortunately, we were wrong. I ordered an antipasto salad and a Bianca pizza. While the salad was tasty, we were told they did not have Greek dressing to accompany it, although they serve a green salad. We had to settle with balsamic instead. Whatever, no biggie. The biggest upset was the pizza. We received a piece of cardboard dough covered in grease. Literally, neither of us could eat an entire piece. It might have been the worst pizza we have ever eaten. 1 star for prompt delivery. 1 star for friendly service.

Highly disappointing. The side salad wasn't fresh. The ends of some of the lettuce were wilty and some of it was turning brown. Then the chicken cannelloni came out and was mostly marinara and cheese. Very little chicken. Doubt I'll go back.

Just came here for a few beers. The selection is pretty decent. I think they should put the percentage of the beers on the menu though - my friend ordered a beer and come to find out it was 2.5% alcohol lol... ooops. Their food looks and smells awesome.

The garlic rolls w/ marinara sauce was tasty. We originally ordered ab half in half pizza and the waitress made half the pizza wrong. Needless to say they made it right. We got a free 14 inch pizza. Her mistake wasn't a bad one either. This pizza's we tried were good. The service was great and it was an awesome after work atmosphere. I will be going back to this spot.

When I'm hungry for some Italian food, I tend to roll to this restaurant. It's located right next to my favorite movie theater so I tend to make it an event and hit up both places in one trip. The service is good as the servers and bartenders are friendly and accommodating. And if nothing else, the food is excellent. I'd like to say this is authentic Italian cuisine, but I'm not expert, so I'll defer to the true Italian cuisine connoiseurs. But for me, I always leave happy and full. Their pizzas are tasty and diverse, and I do enjoy their special dishes (usually written on a chalkboard above the front entrance). What seals the deal is their gelato, which is the perfect item to help one cool down during these hot and humid VA summers. I believe Mannino's is a tad better, but YNot is right up there for me. Besides, it's more convenient to head to Ghent rather than drive out to VB for some Italian food. JV

A friend and I stopped by after going to dinner at another restaurant near by just to get Gelato for her kids. Seeing as I was still hungry I decided to grab a slice. The smell in there is enough to make you want to order everything on the menu. It smelled like heaven; and I should know because my pregnant nose is super sensitive. So I ordered the 16 inch margarita pizza with added sausage. My husband devoured the entire thing! The cheese is delicious, the crust is perfect and the sauce is amazing and chunky with tomatoes , and it has a very homemade taste. We are giving up on pizza Hut forever. The Gelato is not so perfect. It's super sweet and kind of rough. If you have been to Italy or anywhere really in Europe you will not like it. But you will appreciate the pizza for its more authentic taste. Will go back again. Have not had the pastas.

Chix canneloni is a small portion but good. Calzone was good. U can add lots of toppings. Pepperoni rolls were ok had lots of garlic. Outside edge was a little hard. Marinara sauce was really good had alot of garlic.

I would go more often if people would leave their squeal machines at home. I'm glad families have a local place to take kids but it seems something about the place attracts kids with powerful lungs and deaf or rude parents who make no effort to stifle the screaming and squealing. Your kid's enthusiasm for life is only cute to you, teach it some manners or leave it at home.

Great experience today with take out. I have dined in and gotten take out from Y not Pizza. It is not the best Italian food in Hampton Roads but for the value it is very good. The menu is pretty broad and the portions are good size. They also offer a very wide selection of desserts. If you are looking for affordable Italian food and you don't want to wait in a long line at a trendy overpriced restaurant this is a place to come There are multiple locations throughout Hampton Roads, I have dined at several locations and not noticed a big difference between them. They all seem good.

Meh. I can't say that I'm surprised by the food because I read the reviews, however my husband so very much wanted to try this place. The decor felt very chain restaurant. The food was okay. We had a side of meatballs for an app and those were pretty good. I had the broccoli cheese soup and garlic bread for my dinner. The soup flavor was good, but it was lukewarm. My husband had the baked ziti and it was amateur at best. The sauce was really bright red, making it appear like it was canned. The flavor wasn't that awesome either. It was basically pasta, tomato puree and cheese. Blah. Oh and their dishes are plastic. #lowrent

I came here with high hopes! pretty inside and VERY busy, which to me says that it must have some AWESOME food that people are loving. It was very clean and it was a nice atmosphere other than being extremely loud (it was a Saturday though) I ordered the Veal Parmesan with the meat sauce pasta, the people I was with got a large pizza to split. It took quite a long time to finally get our food, our waitress was very sweet though! I did not enjoy my food.. at all. The sauce on my veal parmesan was pretty bland and unseasoned, same with the pasta. I barely ate any of it. They liked the pizza, I did try it and it was pretty good! I did like it. It wasnt out of this world, but definitely a good pizza. I would recommend it. The owner 'Tony' brought us the pizza and was very available and asked us a couple of times how everything was. Very kind. Overall it was a decent experience, prices are quite high though with sub-par food the cost should be lower. We ordered dessert which was AMAZING. I did have an extremely upset stomach all night after eating here. Not sure why but thats not a good sign for any restaurant. I always give restaurants a second chance though, so I will try here again, ordering something different next time.

I really want to like YNOT because they have a great variety of Italian foods for a great price!! The meatballs are awesome! Love that you can "make your own salad" but I haven't had the best results with that consistently... Before it was YNOT it was The Wine House - the location of me and my husband's first date. I like to come in and eat in the same booth we first shared a meal in! :) Tonight we ordered a pizza to our house. It came in a timely manner. They even threw in avocado slices on the side b/c I wanted that on my pizza! Unfortunately it did not satisfy my craving. The crust/dough REALLY needs work. It tastes like cardboard, no flavor and we got garlic knots that were very dry. I don't want to give this review for others not to try YNOT but hopefully that some of your bread recipes will improve! That's all I have to say about that. Sorry!!!

Our server was friendly and welcoming. That's the end of the nice things I have to say about this place. We had the deluxe pizza and our friends had eggplant parm and chicken parm. Food was overall salty and just mediocre in terms of quality. We ordered our pizza well-done and it was watery and flaccid. It was not good. We were disappointed given the number of positive reviews given here.

Great pasta and great service! I had the make your own pasta and my friend had the egg plant parm, both were very tasty. I hope you are hungry! Definitely save room for desert! The gelato was awesome, they do let you sample, and we even got a couple cannoli to go. Thank you Adam for the great service!

We tried to go to Ynot yesterday for lunch. We arrived after another party of two and no one came to the counter for about 15 minutes. Both of us sat on the benches to wait. Eventually one server walked by and asked if we were together- we said no and she said she would be right back. Five or so minutes later a large party entered and within a few minutes a server approached, took their information and had them seated almost immediately, ignoring our attempts to intervene and get her attention. We and the other party looked at each other with a mix of bemusement and frustration. After another several minutes, while we stood waiting and attempted to make eye contact with any of the many staff members walking about. To be clear there were empty tables both indoors and out, and many staff members who did not appear critically busy. The server who seated the large party behind us not only made no attempt to discern which people glad arrived first, but also pointedly avoided eye contact and communication with us as she passed trough the entrance several times over the next 10 minutes to serve other guests (including brining water to the party that had come in after us...). Based on this treatment, we ultimately gave up, bailed on Ynot and went next door to the Green Onion where we received prompt service despite how crowded they were! We will not be patronizing Ynot any time soon.

I ordered the Italian Calzone (Calzoni according to the menu) and my company ordered the Garlic Knots. The calzone was small, compared to other places with similar prices, and had too much flavorless dough. I also didn't like that most of my meat was piled in the center instead of being a bit more spread out. I tasted a garlic knot and they were better than others I've had as they had a good garlic flavor throughout. According to my company, the gelato is delicious as is their chopped salad. I may decide to come back to try both of them. The decor is lovely but I personally prefer a shadier spot with better food.

Enchanting time at Ynot Pizza :) I sat on the patio with my family including my dog. They brought him a bowl of water when they brought our drinks :) I ordered garlic knots, a Greek salad and pasta with shrimp. The food was good, the service was super friendly and the weather was perfect for outdoor seating. We all had a nice time :)

Considering Y-Not is one of a plethora of pizza places on or near Colley, I can safely say that someone in the area wanting pizza has plenty of better options than here. Not everything is bad about this place, though, so let's do the run down: The good: They have great gelato (most of the time) and a small italian pastry section that I've enjoyed each time I've gone in just for dessert. They have a great variety of both and it is not extremely overpriced (although not cheap). Another positive about this place is that the staff has always been incredibly friendly (wait staff and hosts/hostesses included). The okay: The pizza here is best described as mediocre. The taste is definitely nothing special, the ingredients don't taste especially fresh, and the sauces taste generic. I've also ordered salad here (based on the waiter's rave reviews), which I was quite disappointed both in size and quality. On top of it, in my to-go salad they gave me a pre-packaged very cheap salad dressing. I mean, this is fine for Papa Johns, but not for a supposedly legitimate restaurant. Have some pride, people! The bad: I think the aspect of this restaurant that tips the scale in the negative direction is the price of the food. If everything were maybe $5 cheeper then I would probably even give it a 4 star review. But they are simply selling mediocre quality (and quantity) food for high quality prices. They do have coupons frequently in the mail, but it doesn't bring down the prices to what they should be. The Bottom Line: There are plenty of unique and legitimately good pizza places within walking distance of here (Bella Pizzeria, Cogan's) and certainly within a short driving distance (Granby Street Pizza) that will leave you feeling happily full and not cheated in price. Y-Not try one of these instead?

We ordered Ynot for take out tonight and were pretty disappointed. I've only had Ynot one other time, where we ordered a pizza (from the Virginia Beach location) and it was okay. Our expectations for our meal were pretty high considering we ordered menu items that were FAR from complicated. To begin our meal, we ordered mozzarella sticks and 6 garlic rolls; for our entree, baked ziti parmigiana, and a cannoli for dessert. The mozzarella sticks were mediocre; it was like we ran to the corner store and got some freezer mozzarella sticks and tossed them in the oven. The garlic rolls were very dry and tough. Our expectation was a garlicky, buttery gooey roll... we didn't even eat them all. Our biggest disappointment was the main course, the baked ziti..... it was extremely bland; the taste of plain tomato sauce and noodle filled our mouths with flavorless regret. There were no herbs or spices in the "baked" ziti, that seemed like it had been thrown in the microwave. The cannoli was okay, but we have never had one so there was no comparison. Their menu is overpriced for the flavorless dishes offered. We've had chef Boyardee with more flavor than the $25.30 meal that we had tonight and probably won't order anything from Ynot again, if we do it will be pizza.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
