What a great find! We stopped in here as we were roaming around downtown Norfolk looking for someplace that was open for breakfast! We had the B.e.l.t. Breakfast sandwich and the breakfast Stromboli. They were delicious! The staff was friendly and we were served quickly. Would definitely recommend this to others!

Family cafe located downtown with a good weekend brunch menu. Food was served quick and hot and the waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Nice, lower cost option to visit when you want to get out of the hotel and the high $, no variety buffets.

Ahhh... When there's a line almost out the door then you know they have something cooking that's pretty good. Get there early or pop in after 1pm if you want to avoid the lunch crowd of Downtown Norfolk. Seating is limited for all the foot traffic they have but people are in and out quickly. It's not like you can just go in there and grab a table. Their preference is that you stand in line, get your order, and then grab a seat. I went with the curry chicken salad sandwich. It had a good hint of curry taste to it but not too heavy to think I was eating Indian food. A little more curry would have been fine with me but that's a personal preference. Overall, a good choice. A place like this in Town Center VB would be ideal!

I would give this place a 2, but my boyfriend would give it a 4. So let me settle on 3! As another reviewer put it: nice location, nice decor, eh-food, awkward service. I had the Al Fresco with parmesan chips. I really didn't like it... it had all the flavors there that I desired and typically would love but it was executed poorly. The chicken was undercooked and it was a pain to eat. I only ate half. The chips were okay, greasy but I could see others liking them. My boyfriend had the Honker and LOVED it. I did not. Just greasy and no real flavor to it. He swares by this place and the food though. My opinion: if you like greasy quick kind of food, worth a shot. But I think there are A LOT better sandwich places in the area that don't make me feel bloated afterwards (and have much more flavor) it took us way too long to figure out how to order, where the menu was, if we could sit wherever, etc. because no one wanted to help ):

Nice location, nice comfy decor. Ok food. Very akward service. You seat yourself and a waitress will bring you a menu, once you have decided on what you want you must get up place your order and pay. the cashier gives you a number to put on your table and the food is delivered accordingly. No one ever came to check on us after the food was brought out and paid for, it wasn't very busy. I don't like waiters coming by every 5 minutes anyway it gets annoying so, this didnt bother me until i needed a to-go box and had to flag someone down. It's like McDonald's service in a classier setting.

We were out for the usual post-church brunch and decided to come to 3-Way Cafe. It's an interesting diner. I say interesting because it's half self-serve and half-table service. This Sunday was their first Sunday opening so the rest of the week may be different. The specials are written on the blackboard inside the door. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Today I started with the creamy red pepper sausage soup. It was very good. Thick and bisque-like. There was good flavor and the texture was impressive. The only downside was that the natural fats of the sausage were not well mixed into the soup. For my main I had the chorizo sausage gravy and biscuit. The biscuit was fluffy and tender. Definite signs of a quality in-house production. The gravy was nice but he flavor was kind of one-dimensional. There was a lot of salt and something else I couldn't identify that seemed to be there to counter-balance the heat of the chorizo. I can't say I didn't like it but it was very average. I'd like to come back for a regular weekday lunch and try a sandwich.

Loved this place! Calling all foodies. Five stars not for fancy, but for freshness, variety, and attention to detail. And they have fried pickles!! (That weren't previously frozen) for example, the grilled cheese had three cheeses, roasted tomatoes & carmelized onions. Homemade salad dressings, homemade potato salad. Interesting milkshake shake flavors too. Quiches & soup add to your choices, all freshly made. Really tasty, everyone was super nice, they have a punch card, plenty of seats & booths, and the food came out pretty quickly. Best of the local lunch spots I've tried.
(5)Cris T.
I was very skeptical to come back due to the awful experience I had before. However, I also believe in second chances. There's nothing as exciting as a comeback - seeing the changes and improvement of the entire place. Indeed, it was truly a worth it visit. So I rolled by myself on Tuesday morning to have breakfast before going to work. For this visit , I ordered the CALI BREAKFAST WRAP filled with chicken, omelette, bacon and cheese. Thought it was delightful and perfectly well seasoned. I find it very innovative and refreshing. The wrap was crispy and the flavor profile was spot on. The cheese melts into my mouth. I must say that I truly enjoyed every bite of it. The customer service seems to have improved. At least this time the staff is more engaging. I don't ask for much attention just a simple courtesy of a warm welcoming smile. I'm happy that I'd came back. I surely will visit whenever I am close to the area.

Sitting here fresh from philly, have been exploring different places for food. This place is PERFECT!!!! Excellent Service, Great Tasting Food.......If your hungry food comes QUICK!!!!......A place I immediately would go to when I return to the VA
(5)Candice L.
The food was good and the staff is super friendly. But the ordering process is kind of deli style where you order at the counter, only difference is they bring your food to you. The foods good though, so that's not really a bother to me.
(5)Casey G.
My hubby raves about lunch at this place, so we decided to try breakfast one day with the kids in tow. After reading reviews and pursuing the menu online, I was super excited about the chorizo biscuits and gravy. Being part Mexican and having lived in the South for a few years, it was like a dream come true of mixed cultures. Unfortunately, I was sadly disappointed when I took my first bite. It was pure salt....no chorizo flavor whatsoever. The biscuits were nice and crispy on the outside but flaky on the inside though. Hubby had the chicken and waffles which were out of this world. Huge pieces of perfectly cooked fried chicken breasts on top of waffles. I think I ate half of his meal. I'd go back for the chicken n waffles, but definitely not the chorizo biscuits and gravy.

I went here for breakfast with my friend on a late Thursday morning. This place is in downtown Norfolk, conveniently located within eyeshot of the MacArthur center. The staff is more of the grungy, dive bar type. Our waitress was nice. We were able to sit anywhere we liked. You first order and pay at the register, and they bring out the food to you, There were only 2 other customers in the restaurant, so it was very quiet. (but, we also went at 10:30am, so we didnt experience lunch hour rush during our time there.) My friend ordered the steak-n-eggs (done rare) with 2 poached eggs. This was probably the most expensive breakfast item at $7.99. Dishes on the breakfast menu run on average $4.99-6.99. I ordered the Californian wrap with an additional side of hash browns. My friends dish was a bit smaller than we had expected it to be (4oz before being cooked is a small serving for someone like me, who can eat a half pound burger with all the trimmings plus fries), but the beef was deliciously prepared. The eggs were great too; but, there are few places that can ruin eggs. My Californian wrap was rather messy, and the Sweet Chili Aioli sauce/scrambled egg juice combo was dripping out of every orifice of my wrap and onto my fingers and plate. I had to have consumed the equivalent amount if calories in that thing compared to a Whopper sandwich. The hash browns were also dripping with oil as well. And that side probably costed me the same calories as a medium sized McDonald's fries. But was it worth it? Yes. I offered to split half my dish with my friend because I felt like he would have been hungry in 2 hours after eating his dish. All in all, it was a flavorful experience. I would love to return and try their lunch menu. The food, staff and atmosphere earn high grades in my book.
(4)Tobe L.
Needed a spot to feed a few hungry high school wrestlers, so we stopped in. The place was pretty empty, but I blame that on the road construction and detours. The atmosphere was very laid back and friendly. You order at the counter and the food is delivered to you. The food was better than average. I got the fried chicken and pancakes with maple foam special. I would order extra foam or syrup. Boys got a pepperoni scramboli and the egg in a hole grilled cheese. While I wasn't wowed by the food, it was definitely better than your chains. Recommend stopping in and giving it a try if your in the area.
(4)Bruce K.
Hard to choose with so many great Yelp reviews in downtown Norfolk, we decided 3Way would be easiest as there is a parking deck nearby. 3Way is a step up from the usual short-order-grill restaurants and it's a bit spendier but when you're having a grilled chicken sandwich topped with grilled veggies, crumbled feta cheese and a balsamic vinegar drizzle, you'll know you made the right choice. Potato salad let the side down - the flavor was there but the potatoes needed a bit more cooking. The parmesan chips were excellent though. Coke fountain and an "instant" iced tea fountain as well. Totally would return.
(4)Jennifer D.
I was planning on stopping by for breakfast, but since my friend and I had trouble finding parking, we didn't arrive until 11:05 AM (which is passed breakfast time). So we ended up ordering lunch. I decided on getting the half-half combo. I got the curry chicken salad sandwich and turkey-sausage red pepper cheese with parmesan chips for $8.50. I thought that it was a great deal for the portion that I got. The sandwich was pretty good; the curry flavoring wasn't strong so it was a great balance. The quiche was pretty good as well! My friend ordered the mango salmon wrap with a side of their homemade potato salad. She said that both were really good! The salmon was grilled and wrapped with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, and mango salsa. This was also a decently sized portion. Both dishes are pretty good but not mind-blowing. The staff here are so nice and sweet! They're knowledgable of the menu and are happy to answer any questions. This place is set up like Panera. It's pretty much self serve. You seat yourself, order at the counter, and get your own drink. The only difference here is that the staff brings your food out once it's prepared and they clean up your dirty dishes for you. Overall I would come back, especially next month since it's Grilled Cheese Month! This place has great staff and good food but parking is a pain. You'll have to find street parking or pay to park in the garage down the street. Therefore 4.5 stars
(4)Casie N.
Nice cafe in downtown norfolk close to MacArthur mall. You order at the bar and find your seat. Neat and clean facilities and friendly atmosphere. I got the B.E.L.T. Sandwich. I love eggs and bacon but the seasoned tomatoes, lettuce, and housemade sauce was not my fave. My friends seemed to like most of everything they had. I would encourage you to try because it is a great little place
(4)Savannah C.
Loved this place, great for big crowds or your just by yourself. You should diffentily try their pancakes!
(5)Brian D.
Very low key, casual attire restaurant. I had the mexi Cali sandwich and it was delicious. Service was great and I will definitely be coming back. Make sure to get the Parmesan chips as your side.
(4)Mary B.
YUM! We went in on Saturday - they were one of the few places open around 10:30 AM (what's up with that anyway?) We were one out of two tables in the place, strangely quiet! We sat outside so we could eat and hang out with our dog. The server immediately gave him a doggie water bowl when I asked if we could sit outside with the dog- I just love it when I don't even have to ask! Cali wrap was AWESOME and enough for me and my fiancé to split but we got the chorizo gravy and biscuits to split as well. The biscuit was cooked perfectly and delicious. FYI - no alcohol options here. Also, only one outdoor table (at least on the day we went).
(5)Ro F.
I had herb encrusted salmon over glazed onions hash browns and eggs with taziki sauce and a Lil dill.... it was pretty good. I wish they had mimosas. I wasn't blown away by my dish but I would go back and try again. Clean casual and I like that you go and order the food instead of a wait staff coming to you. Nice place
(3)Shiela E.
I absolutely love this place because they are dog-friendly. However, what sucks is that there's only ONE little table outside, so hopefully every time we do go, it'll be available. The food was super delicious! I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was so yummy! My best friend ordered the waffles with sausage. TIP: ask for the maple foam! It is AMAZING! My boyfriend ordered the breakfast Cali wrap, which was to die for! Probably the best dish out of the 3! The staff was super friendly, and one even came out and gave me a little bowl of water for our pup. Safe to say that we're definitely coming back to try more food.
(4)Phung H.
One of my top picks for delivery when I'm working in Norfolk. They are quick and the food always comes warm. I love the Pilgram Age Sandwich with potato salad. The cranberry spread completely makes the Turkey Sandwich. Highly Recommend :)
(5)Andrew C.
After reading all the reviews I chose to get the Figgy Piggy with parmesan cheese chips and the quiche of the day. It was the 1/2 combo thing where you get a small portion of each. Figgy Piggy was delicious, a sweet and moist turkey sandwich. Only thing that could have been better would be the bread, it became soggy within 2 minutes and was just regular white bread. The parmesan cheese chips were ok, they made the chips fresh so eat them quick or else they will become soggy. There was nothing special about the spinach quiche. It didn't really have any flavor to it so that was a miss. The service doesn't really exist but I think because it's more of a dinner than cafe. You order, get your number, you get your own drink, and they serve you when the food is ready. Price runs you about $10 a dish so its about average for downtown.
(3)Eric E.
Traveling from out of town and stopped in for lunch based on Yelp reviews. Very happy. Great place. Family friendly. Interesting menu. Recommend the salmon salad and club sandwich. Their house made potato chips are totally worth it!
(4)E. R.
Best lunch I had in Norfolk: the Mexicali Chicken sandwich. You can sub the fried pickles as your side for $2 extra (they are $3.50 on their own), which I am glad I did. I don't usually like tomatoes on my sandwiches, but the roasted ones on the Mexicali were perfect. The sweet chili aioli was also great on the sandwich but a bit too sweet for my tastes as a pickle dipping sauce. The pickle breading was a touch too salty, but I love pickles (fried or not), so it didn't really hold me back! The fellow at the counter was extremely friendly and I didn't feel out of place reading and dining at my small table during the bustling business lunch rush. I would absolutely return; don't let the construction on Plume Street deter you.
(4)Michelle B.
Stopped in on my way from another shop after seeing the fish taco special. Inside decor is simple with a nostalgic vibe. Old photos on the wall which appear to be Norfolk back in the 1940s or 1950s, mixed with organic elements of dried floral pieces, framed newspaper articles about the cafe & a clock. On the other side is the open kitchen, counter area w/ 2 televisions mounted from the ceiling. The seating consists of booths & 4 top tables. When you walk in you proceed to the counter area to order your food where you are given a number, you pay & then find a seat as your meal is made to order. I tried the fish tacos which were scrumptious. A combo flavor of spicy & sweet were a nice compliment to the fish which was grilled. The fish was tender and moist added by the mango salsa & sweet chili aioli. The Parmesan chips were crunchy and seasoned with a Parmesan mix. I would prefer less crunch as it made them to hard for pleasurable chewing.. Hey, but that could just be my palate. Drink selections range from water, to Coke products as well as Boylan products. This place was a hit for me & next time I'm in town I look forward to trying something new.
(4)Karen S.
The toasted cheese sandwich (with carmelized onions!) is delicious and so are the shakes. Funny little place - kind of like a diner but not quite. The food is slow to come out. Very friendly service.
(4)Rosalind B.
The atmosphere is cozy and laid back. The floor plan is open. It looks like it tried to look like a diner, but failed because it looks too classy. The ultimate deciding factor is if the food is tasty. It certainly is!
(4)Alex D.
Seriously, the best lunch place you'll find in Downtown Norfolk. Allow me to explain: - The Mexi Cali Chicken sandwich was the first item I ever had, and the grilled chicken, pepper jack, tomatoes, sweet chili aioli...it's magical. - The Grinder Salad is DELICIOUS, and the greek vinaigrette has feta mixed in, which, come on, YES. - They can take a simple sandwich like the BLT and turn it into food perfection, and by food perfection I mean the B.L.A.T. The roasted tomatoes and thick slices of bacon on that thing are awesome, and the avocado makes it. - Their house dressing needs to be added to every food item that exists, because it's THAT good. - The Cubano sandwich on the ciabatta bread is fantastic. - If you don't like the parmesan chips, you're crazy. - If they ever have the blackened salmon caesar salad as a special, GET IT. (You're welcome.) - The staff rocks. If you haven't been, go. By noon, there's a line out the door! Totally worth every penny.
(5)Troy S.
A perfect compliment to an upbeat downtown Norfolk. 3Way is great for both casual diners and business convos...progressive appeal for breakfast and lunch Monday thru Saturday. They have innovative sandwiches and salads, available as a combo, soup du jour, and clever daily specials. Yelp did me right on the sandwich selection...I kept seeing Figgy Piggy this and Figgy Piggy that. Well, Figgy Piggy in my mouth! A figdalicious inspiration packed with juicy pork, Gouda, spinach, tomatoes, and pesto aioli. I love it paired with the Greek salad for the 3way combo for about 8 bucks...so why would you ever choose Panera over Chris Hill's savvy creations??? This has now become one of my top go to lunch spots downtown...why the heck did I wait so long to get in here?! Check out their menus here: 3waycafe.com/menu.php If you are a newby there, just FYI...go order at the register and they will bring out your order. Silverware is at the end of the table with the salt, pepper, and extra napkins. Looks like they have also started delivering! Sweet!!
(5)Mulcher S.
Just had breakfast here and it was very good. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is it's pretty much wait on yourself. But the bacon hash brown scramble was fantastic. The people that work their are very friendly. If I'm in town again I'll go here for my breakfast.
(4)Allison B.
Unfortunately I often forget about this place, but when I make it here the food is always delicious, it never disappoints! The curry chicken salad sandwich is fantastic as is the salmon salad. Their daily specials have included fish tacos (OMG so good!), chicken pot pie quiche (delicious), and gyros (mouthwatering). Their breakfast is just as good! I love the smoked salmon hash. I'm now making every effort to make it here at least once per week!
(5)Anna N.
I seem to have written quite a few negative reviews (aka the Grumpy Diner), so I thought I'd pop out a positive one! This place is a go-to place for us...sometimes I go and the cafe is filled to the brim with nothing but my co-workers =) Quality, inventive food at a reasonable price; friendly, personable employees quick to rectify any problems or issues. The lunch menu ranges offers a range of sandwiches, salads, soups, quiche and daily specials. There's even housemade milkshakes if you're in the mood! I recommend this lunch spot highly.
(4)Chris A.
Went to breakfast on a whim after a night out. Food was average, the portion was small and service was very slow; it took nearly an hour to get our food. Won't be back.
(2)Michael M.
Nice cozy diner/cafe. Very friendly staff and man! That chorizo biscuit and gravy is awesome and their egg in a basket. Will definitely recommend this place.
(5)Kenny Y.
Hm... I was overly excited to try the itsy bitsy figgy piggy... but after reading all of the reviews, unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype! Figgy Piggy - Herb Roasted Pork with Fig Glaze, baby spinach, gouda, roasted tomatoes, and pesto aioli on sourdough. It was actually quite a tasty sandwich... however it was not mind-glowingly delicious like I was expecting. The Honker - Sliced steak, sauteed mushrooms, bacon, gouda, spinach, on sourdough. Super... Duper... salty =X I really wanted to like this place, but it was just... bleh! The bread was drenched in butter/oil... super greasy. We felt disgusted after eating. The sandwiches were excessively salty, and the fries even more so. We couldn't even finish half the fries due to the salt. Also, while our salad looked delicious, it turned out to be disgusting! The mixed greens were mushy... they had to be old. We were disgusted that they actually served this to us... while the top layer looked fine, the bottom was a pile of mush. It's the stuff you find at the bottom of a 1-2 week old bag of lettuce. Gross. Based on the other reviews, maybe they just had an off day or something... who knows... but based on our meal we won't be back. Figgy piggy is the only reason this gets 2 stars vs only 1. FYI, we came on a Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Quick Update: The owner has been in contact and apologized for the meal... has been very gracious. Based on his kindness alone, will be coming back to give it a second shot.
(2)Leanna T.
There's not much to say besides YOU NEED TO EAT HERE!!!! Food is DELICIOUS, fresh and unique and people are friendly. I adore this cafe
(5)Christopher E.
I really cannot say enough how much I like this place. I eat here everyday when I am in town, sometimes twice a day. My breakfast of choice is the Make You Own Frittata, that is unless there is a breakfast special that morning. Also check out the sweet potato tots. As for lunch, I have only had the Cuban Sandwich and Fried Pickles. In fact, that sounds good right now.
(5)Ally H.
I can't say enough about 3 way cafe. If you haven't had it you should! I work in norfolk and it's my go to place for ordering lunch. I've never had a bad thing on the menu. My fave is the grilled cheese but I've also had most of the menu and I can't say a negative thing. Even when I order milkshakes delivered in the summer they are still delicious and not melted. The chips? Oh... my... goodness. My husband demands I get a side to go when I do order so he can partake later when I bring them home. If you haven't tried it you should live live live and do so immediately. I've turned most of my workplace onto this place. So much so we now order it for catering
(5)Ranzo T.
I arose early, hiked across town in 38 degree weather, and waited outside for the 7AM opening shown on yelp. When 7 o'oclock arrived and no lights came on I read the hours on the window and realized they've ling ago changed their hours. Shame on Yelp! Shame on 3 Way! Shame on me for being an idiot and relying on yo guy for credible info. If you can't get the hours of operation right how accurate is all the rest of it. With numbed fingers and shaking I hands I submit this critique and stumble back to my hotel for the predictable but available fare.
(2)Robert A.
Found this place on yelp, even though coming in like 15min before they close the staff was very nice to my wife and I. We didn't know what to expect of the food, it was mad delicious! We both shared the salmon chowder, amazing! The chicken & waffles were to die for & I had the figgy piggy which was very well presented and delicious. Defiantly coming back to this place to try other things on the menu.
(5)Lou K.
Small cafe with good selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service was fast and pricing is very fair. Very clean atmosphere. If you are looking for a great value, give this place a try.
(4)Eric H.
How does this place have such great reviews? Kind of a do-it-yourself service style, order at the cash register and pay before you even get your food, then get your own drink... Piece of advice, look at the menu posted on the front window before you bother walking in. Save yourself some trouble.
(2)Sally M.
Stopped by at 9:00am on a Saturday with a gal pal and ordered the hash brown scramble since I am in LOVE with hash browns. It was described as grilled hash browns with your choice of bacon or sausage and topped with caramelized onions and cheddar. No mention of eggs, so I was a bit disappointed when the dish came out with eggs (not scrambled, more omelet like) as the base with a small layer of HB as the topping. The bacon was good, not too fatty, but the (still purple) onions didn't seem caramelized. Service was efficient and nice. Would try this place again for lunch, but probably not again for breakfast.
(2)Jennifer M.
This was our #1 work lunch pick in Norfolk. They have a lunch special for $7.99 where you can do half sandwich or half salad / soup. I've tried the Figgy Piggy and the Toasted Cheese. Bread on the sandwiches are buttery greasy toasted and guiltily delicious. Pork in the figgy piggy was thick cut and could have used some extra fig glaze for added sweetness. Dressing (homemade) on their house salad is divine. I hated the chips that they serve though. Homemade but disappointing. Come early. It takes them a while to prepare and you don't want to be in that lunch rush.
(4)C W.
Ok. After reading so many reviews singing the praises of the figgy piggy, I caved to peer pressure and ordered one. I was not led astray, thank you yelp people. The figgy piggy was a lovely blend of savory tender pork with a hint of sweet from the figs. I was truly sad when mine was gone. The rest of the menu looked appetizing with interestingly paired departures from standard deli fair. I'll definitely return my next time in Norfolk.
(5)Mike S.
Not very impressed after reading all the positive reviews. Sadly. Decided on the Figgy Piggy sandwich with the Parmesan chips. Great idea with execution flaws. A third of the sandwich had nothing to it. The chips were merely dusted with dried Parmesan you'd get from a shelf. The iced tea is not brewed but from a hose connected to the back of the soda machine. On a positive note, the service was friendly and the pork was tasty.
(2)Miyoshi H.
The salmon sandwich was perfect. My coworkers enjoyed their meals as well and the icing on the cake was the fact that they delivered to our job. Not many businesses deliver to a school in young Park. I will be a customer for life. I told my husband I felt like it was sinful to enjoy such a meal without him.
(5)Nicole E.
Stopped in here the other day for lunch after being referred here by my friends mom. I got a mango salmon wrap and it was amazing. Cute little place hidden in downtown norfolk, I never knew it was here. But I will definitely be back!
(5)Yajaida P.
I went with the Figgy Piggy. First thing that was off was the expectation that this would be a hot sandwich. Everything was cold and the bread had not had a chance to toast, but was soggy after being slathered in butter substitute. I also found the figgy part of the equations a little lacking. Service was very quick, but just a touch rushed. They started clearing the table while I was still eating. Dog friendly patio, but only two tables on a busy sidewalk. This seems to be a favorite and Julia A enjoyed her gyro, so I'll be back to see if they can make me a believer.
(3)Rory J.
3 Way has started serving breakfast! Don't worry, people of Norfolk, I took one for the team and sampled their new fare. I couldn't eat everything, so I brought friends and everyone ordered something different, I can say that everything was delish! We tried the quiche, the pancakes and the biscuits and gravy. The pancakes were by far my favorite. They have a maple syrup FOAM on them. It almost tastes like less calories because everything was all very light and fluffy, thanks guys. The biscuits and gravy were also great, they make them with chorizo instead of regular sausage. That gave them a nice kick. The biscuits were also a good size, fluffy with good taste --I think, they were smothered in chorizo - who could/would want to get past that? Quiche was good, a lot of cheese and bacon! I'm not a quiche person, but my coworker is and he said it was great.
(5)Tom M.
Stopped in today for lunch. A wonderful B L A T (BLT w avocado) and cole slaw w blue cheese. Great value and very quick service.
(4)Mike A.
I really wish this place was closer to work! Perfect place to meet for lunch if you're in the area. Great decor with an open design - staff was all friendly. Spouse bought me a Figgy Piggy (port sandwich) with fries that was excellent, but I'm glad we shared as I got a few bites of her Honker (sliced steak sandwich with gouda and bacon). There is metered street parking, but I think the current construction limits availability. There are a few parking garages nearby, so just park somewhere close and walk if needed!
(4)Ernest S.
Great little place downtown. Nice menu with a great selection of breakfast items.
(4)Jan B.
Consistently excellent! My co-workers love the BLAT (bacon lettuce tomato avocado). I'm partial to the curry chicken salad with Greek salad on the side. The Cali Chicken salad is a solid choice too. Parmesan potato chips are made fresh daily - heavenly!
(5)Jason B.
We were looking for a new breakfast place and wow did the 3way knock it out of the park! Cool jazzy music playing, fantastic and super counter people and amazing food! I got the chicken and waffles with their special chorizo gravy and it was delicious. Can't wait to go back
(5)Sarah A.
Today was my first visit, and I ordered the Cali Chicken salad. The salad was ok until I bit into the oddly colored avocado slices. The best way to describe the color, texture and taste would be if there was a such thing as "canned" avocado. The avocado I but at the grocery store tastes nothing like this oddly "artificially" tasting "avocado". I lost my appetite and just threw the rest of the salad away. What a waste of $9.

In d'town for business and yelp steered us right! This was a great find within walking distance of our hotel. This review is for lunch - everything was very good. Our group ordered the Figgy Piggy (Troy S's review is spot on!!!! and loved the sliced pork with fig glaze and gouda); lamb gyro (lots of moist, tasty lamb) and the BLAT (the roasted tomatoes and avacado were an awesome combo). Seriously great place for lunch. The other reviewers were right in warning that it gets crowded for lunch, so get there early.

We walked here from our hotel because we were searching for something with a local vibe. This was definitely a good choice! You order at the counter and serve yourself coffee from urns that are replenished frequently. There are some interesting menu choices. I had the Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, and Tomato sandwich. I don't see it on the online menu so it might have been a special that day. It was very good though. My husband just likes basic breakfast - scrambled eggs, patty sausage, hash browns, etc. They don't have such a choice on the menu but were more than happy to make it for him.

Best sandwich ever! Fast service. Friendly staff. You must stop in when you are downtown.

Stumbled upon this place thanks to Yelp! 3Way is a real gem! Delicious, fresh salads, satisfying wraps and sandwiches and INCREDIBLE Parmesan potato chips. Holy Moly! We ate there 2 of our 3 days in Norfolk! Friendly service, relatively clean and quite fast. They do seem to use the microwave quite a bit though. Every 20 seconds we heard beeps and things popping in and out. I'm afraid that they microwave a lot of the meat. Oh well! It's still really good and if i'm ever back in Norfolk, this will be a "must-visit" attraction!

One of my fave places to go for lunch in Downtown Norfolk. Friday's special is fish tacos and they are delicious! On Wednesday it's Lamb Gyros. I have also had their Hot Dog on a sub roll & the Mango Salmon wrap...Yum! The Parmesan potato chips are addicting and sometimes I get their Fresh fruit which is always good. Looking forward to cooler weather and trying their version of a grilled cheese sandwich. During prime time lunch hour it gets pretty busy and sometimes can be hard to get a table. I suggest going before 12p or after 1pm.

As my rating suggests, I'm a big fan of 3Way cafe'! It's the perfect spot for a tasty lunch. They get away from the normal burger joint by creating clever sandwiches packed full of great flavors. Their chips, with parmesan cheese are decadent, and if that's too much for you they offer a fruit side. The staff have always been super friendly!

Excellent little lunch place. Great sandwiches, soups, and salads. Ate here on back to back days; ordered lamb gyro and cubano. Both sandwiches were excellent and were a perfect lunch portion. Got fries with one; just regular crinkly fries, nothing special but good. Ordered potato salad with the other; I wasn't a fan, a little bland, however I like mustard potato salad so I am a little biased. Orders half salad each day, one house, one Caesar, both were average and I would swag towards Cesar. I would love to go back for lunch again but I'm headed home, would definitely recommend for lunch.

Great food, easy walk from McArthur Memorial. Super clean & friendly staff. I came in the afternoon on a beautiful fall day and a steady stream of folks came in to eat. Food was perfectly delicious. Definitely recommend this cafe.

Great little spot that's perfect for a casual or business lunch. Order at the register and then they bring your meal to your table. Pending on the drink order it's self-serve. Food is stellar, but be ready to wait in line.

3Way Café is one of my favorite downtown Norfolk lunch spots! I can always count on a great meal, regardless of selection, at an appropriate price point. Because its a downtown breakfast and lunch spot with many "on the clock" customers, the ordering process is a bonus because you order & "pay" at the register first, then with your number - you seat yourself, food comes to you....and once your done eating, you leave. This is great for groups who may have varying schedules and not wasting time "check waiting!" FAVs: Lamb Gyro, Curry Chicken Salad, and Quiche, and the Rosemary Parmesan Pork!!! NOTE TO THE DOWNTOWN TYPE "A" FOLKS - Please pay & get your number before commandeering a table - hats, coats & cell phones to cut folk off for a table is NOT COOL!!! LOL! LOL!

My girlfriend and I came up to Norfolk for a concert and on Saturday morning this is one of the only places we could find open for breakfast in all of downtown! Aside from franchises at least. We try to give our business to the little guys. Great food though! My girlfriend had the BREAKFAST CALI WRAP ($8 Grilled Chicken, Scrambled Eggs, Pepper Jack Cheese, Bacon, Roasted Tomatoes, Sweet Chili Aioli Wrapped in Tomato Basil Tortilla) it was really good and I usually don't even like wraps! I couldn't resist. I also had a cup of roasted chicken corn soup which was great as well. My girlfriend was feeling for lunch by the time we actually found a place to eat and she had the B.L.A.T. ($8 Crisp Bacon, Leaf Lettuce, Avocado, Roasted Tomatoes, and House Dressing on Sourdough). She enjoyed that a lot as well! It is a place without waiters though. You order your food, sit down, and wait for it to be brought to you after getting your own drink. But as long as you know that you won't be getting service its not a bad thing. Food was great, presentation was great, and place was great!

My wife and I had lunch here. We both had The Honker and I couldn't have been more satisfied. The pasta salad side was equally good. Parking can be difficult, as all the parking nearby is metered, and we only had limited change. Atmosphere is good, though seating is limited and I'm sure it's crowded at lunch time. If you're wondering if you should go, go. It's really good.

Great lunch place...we had the 1/2 figgy piggy sandwich & 1/2 Greek salad, and the honker sandwich. All very tasty. We also liked the homemade potato chips, and the apple butter bacon milkshake.

Outstanding food, fast service! We had a large group, faxed ahead our orders (day prior) showed up and the food was ready for us near immediately. Awesome place and close to the Macarthur Memorial and other sites. Highly recommended...food was tasty!

I can honestly say I was not disappointed with any of the food we ordered! We had pancakes, sweet potato tots, california wrap, and bacon scramble. It was all so good! The atmosphere was nice and the service was awesome! This place is a must try!

Best lunch spot in downtown Norfolk, hands down. I go here at least once a week and the food does not disappoint. Anything off the menu or on special is amazing. My favorite is the BLAT sandwich (bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato). The dressing used brings the entire sandwich together to create a fusion of awesomeness. Also, their house made chips are unbeatable. Their staff is also very friendly and the restaurant is very clean.

Thanks Ashlee for introducing me to 3Way Cafe - I am not usually a downtown Norfolk lunch person but glad I went out of my way for this one! I had the Seared Steak Salad and the portion was right on, the salad was super fresh and the steak was delicious! If only I had enough time to try the milkshakes everyone was talking about... So I am definitely going to have to go back! Only bad side...is I am not a fan of Norfolk downtown parking. But if you are in the area I would say you need to check it out!

Delicious, made to order food with some very unique menu items. It's a great alternative to the subs, burgers, fries, and hotdog spots downtown. I recommend the curry chicken salad sandwich. It has some major bite to it, and the sweetness of the craisins is so unexpected and delicious. I would give it 5 stars, but the portion sizes are a little on the small side and it's a bit pricey for lunch. It's a small restaurant with booths and floor seating...certainly a nice way to enjoy your lunch in a relaxed atmosphere.

Excellent meal, as always! The owner was nice enough to let us order our favorites off-menu. If you're in Norfolk, you have to try this place out!!

I'm surprised this place hasn't been reviewed more. It's my favorite place for lunch in Downtown Norfolk. I've never once had a bad meal there, and I've worked my way through a fair bit of the menu. The guys use quality ingredients and a touch of creativity to serve up some of the best sandwiches in town. My favorites are the Honker, a steak sandwich with smoked gouda, and the Figgy Piggy - roast pork with fig glaze and aioli on sourdough bread. Is it good for your waistline? I doubt that highly. But they have salads if you care about that sort of thing. You'll pay upwards of $10 for your sandwich, side and drink. The order takes about 15-20 minutes to prepare. Seating is ample: tables, booths or counter. Service is friendly. Go there. Try the food. Bring a friend.

As fabulous as everything else on the menu looks, I have only had one of their sandwiches.....about 48 times! Their "Cubano" is by far the best one in the area and better than most I have had in a few other cities! One day I may branch out and try something else, but for now I will stick with my usual because it's just plain delicious! The boys literally start making it as soon as I walk in....you can't beat that!!

3Way Cafe is my favorite restaurant for lunch in Downtown Norfolk. I have tried several of their sandwiches, salads, and am a self proclaimed Soup Groupie. It's not uncommon for me to call at least three times a week to see what their soup of the day is! If you are lucky enough to go there on Loaded Potato, Tomato Basil Bisque or Buffalo Chicken Soup day...skip the cup and grab a bowl, you will not be disappointed! I love the fact that their food is one of a kind, you won't find a restaurant like it. The flavor profiles they have put together are second to none and ingredients are always fresh. Delish.

3Way Cafe is a great weekday lunch option in Norfolk, VA! The service was friendly and efficient, and the prices were reasonable to boot! The clientele is a good mix -- from businessmen in suits to tourists/shoppers looking for a cheap, healthy bite. As for me, I had been craving a really good salad for more than a month. I missed the kind of salad bars that you find in more metropolitan areas like Boston and DC, and the Panera Garden Salad wasn't cutting it anymore. So, I took a chance on 3Way Cafe. And I'm so glad I did! I was pleasantly surprised to find that 3Way is good -- really, really good. 3Way serves up healthy, filling, and "real" food in a charming and quirky atmosphere. I got the salmon salad, and it was lick-the-plate, mmmmm mmmm good! Fresh, delicious greens...salmon grilled to perfection...and a delicious homemade raspberry vinagriette (and I don't even like raspberry). Oh! And don't forget to get an order of their homemade parmesean chips! Delicioso! All in all, I got a really great meal at a decent price. You should too!

Figgy piggy sandwich (pork, fig preserve, pesto sauce) is great with parmesan potato chips. Get here early bc it fills up fast! Service is fast. This could be a quick option for lunch or a great meeting spot.

Had another lunch adventure at 3Way Cafe and again they knocked it out of the park. Mexicali Chix sandwich was delicious - way to go 3Way. Fast service and quality food every time!!!!

Alex and I are always on a hunt for new places to eat that have a nice variety on the menu, reasonable prices and,of course, good food. Throw in some good service, and cheap sodas (ALWAYS looking for those) and you've got a home run. 3Way Cafe made me happy. Additionally, I was glad to see that something was finally filling the former Blue Plate restaurant on Plume Street. The spot had been vacant far to long. With the arrival of light rail sometime this century, it should be a good business location. For a restaurant that just opened, they were surprisingly efficient. Of course, these are not restaurant neophytes in charge here, but seasoned, experienced restaurateurs. The counter service was brisk. They got a lot of questions from inquiring minds, and were efficient in handling them. I typically get salads at lunch, primarily because I like to eat salads but I don't like to make salads. They have some interesting choices and don't get all bent out of shape when you 'tweak' their recipe. I especially like that you can add chicken, steak, shrimp or salmon to your salad for a minimal fee. I ordered their Greek Salad and added the Herbed Salmon. It was exactly what I wanted. Our friend "B" headed out with us that day, and ordered the Cali Chix sans Chix. She said it was good. Lastly, I have to admit that I was excited to see Coke Zero on tap. They have nice, upgraded to-go cups too, so I could fill 'er up before heading back to work. _Laine

Great lunch spot downtown! The Figgy Piggy is my favorite. As you eat it and savor each bite you just know it was designed to be awesome. I know they roast the pork their and I assume they make the aoili or whatever sauce is on it. Prices are really fair for downtown too, I imagine the rent isn't cheap down there. My only complaint is that they are only open from about 11-3 Monday through Friday. I really wish they were open on Saturday or for dinner, I imagine they would rock it!
(4)Steve B.
As good as it gets in Norfolk!!! Fresh ingredients, killer sandwiches, friendly service!!! one of the best sandwiches I have ever had "figgy piggy" ...AMAZING!!! The only challenge is their hours are pretty tuff only open at lunch and Monday - Friday but if you can make it in that time slot you won't be disappointed!!

I was hesitant to try this place since it is so new and there was only one review here so far, and because my husband and I are only here for a short time for his conference. I'm glad we did though, because we enjoyed it! The atmosphere of the place is really nice and clean, and they had a lot of good selections on their menu. We tried the Pilgrimage sandwich, which was turkey, Havarti, tomato, spinach, and a cranberry-orange sauce on multigrain bread. It was delicious!! The turkey was thick, unlike most deli meats. The sandwiches come with their homemade parmesan potato chips, which are good, but not fantastic. They have a lot of different sides you can switch them out with, although for a fee (the menu didn't say how much). If we were staying in town longer, we would definitely go back!

Great service. Love the chips, delicious salad dressing and the cozy booths. The salads are a little small, some of the sandwiches are eh and its a bit overpriced.
