We've been to Jonathan's prior to the new owner. We did miss the buffet but the salad is still good. Overall the food was great. Desserts (snickers pie and peanut butter pie) were just ok. Coffee was terrible. Service was good. I would go again.

Not what it used to be. Over cooked Mahi Mahi and shrimp . Fries were good and salad was ok

Went on a Saturday evening and it wasn't horribly busy. We were seated quickly. We hadn't been since the buffet was discontinued but, that didn't concern us because the food had always been good. Long story short the food was awful. My fiance had fried shrimp which looked almost burnt and I had Mahi Mahi which was so over done I could tap on it with my fork and it would thump. I had asparagus as my side and although it was supposed to be steamed was cold and what I get out of my garden (and I mean stand in the garden and eat it) is more flavorful and much less tough than this was. The only good thing was the little salad bar that they had. Then to top it all off our server acted as if she was mad when we turned down dessert. Not going back!

It was a stormy Sunday evening and our first two restaurant choices were closed, so we headed to the new Jonathan's for dinner. I am not a burger lover, but when I saw the Mushroom and Swiss burger, I decided to try it. It was HUGE and cooked just the way I wanted it (well done. I know, I know, but I really, really, really don't like bloody meat) with lots of melty swiss and huge mushrooms! Took a bite and knew I was in heaven! I had the creamed spinach as the side and it was soooo good! The service was good and the food was even better!

We are at SML for vacation and we were looking for a good place to eat so we seen this restaurant on yelp and it has good and bad reviews and it made us kinda scared to try it but we did anyways. The food was great ,the service was great and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will definitely go back and recommend it!

Jonathan's has been sold and is under new management. The menu has changed. Everything we used to go to Jonathan's for is gone. We had two appetizers, fried oysters (good) and crab dip (meh). The bread was really good. We had four entrees. One person finished theirs. The other three were ineatable. The manager explained that they were having problems with their microwave. I guess that's how this restaurant cooks its food. RIP Jonathan's.

Been here several times, mostly on Sundays for brunch. At one point, I have told people that this was the best brunch buffet in the area. I am not able to say that anymore. The place used to be crowded on Sundays, which should of been a clue. Today's visit, it was very obvious that management had changed. Several items on the buffet were dry, possibly from sitting out too long, or had been overcooked. Healthier items has been replaced with fried food. Chicken Marsala should not be deep fried and covered with mushroom gravy. Four empty tables from us, two elderly women were commenting about their disliking of the new brunch items to their waiter. I did the same to our waitress, in which she replied that it has new owners and they were tweaking some things and eager for feedback. My reply to our nice waitress was that I am in favor of change, but not at the sacrifice of quality, then pointed out the items on the bar to my dislike. So the reason for a 3 star and not lower is because I'm optimistic that their individually fixed dinners will be better.

Under new management - bad service and bad food. I odered the soup and salad (usually hard to mess up); had to send back the soup. I ordered the crab and asparagus soup (sounded yummy), but it was awful. The crab was mushy and the asparagus was mushy. After 2 spoonfuls, it went back. The server interrogated me over "what was the problem with the soup" and then acted like he did me a favor by taking it off my bill! Husband ordered the bbq chicken with au gratin potatoes ' tasted like they were frozen and zapped before serving. Just not good.

Used to enjoy Jonathan's and ate there often until today. Will not return.....unless it is for a salad (the only food to come out of the kitchen worth mentioning). Our Fathers Day meal was a huge disappointment at so many levels. Server was slow, inattentive, had difficulty with our order and did not have a clue what was on the menu. After taking our order the server returned to complete it as had not obtained the included sides for two in our party and then also advised us they were out of creamed spinach...so pick something else. We waited between a half hour and 45 minutes for our food and the restaurant was not busy. When food arrived the plates were literally too hot to handle. I have no idea why, but you could not pass the plated food which was delivered to one end of the table, not to each person who ordered it. With hungry young children at the table we went ahead and served them small servings we blew to cool on bread plates. Back to the adult dinners, two of the four were visibly burned (overcooked) and unattractive. Another appeared OK but wasn't fully cooked and the last was a salad. One adult ordered their shrimp and grits which by the way I used to enjoy at the "old Jonathan's". His meal was horrible. Wish I had taken a picture as words are not adequate. The peppers heaped on top were literally black from being burned and the shrimp, overcooked and tough. The grits (which are hard to mess up) had a hard crust on the exterior and were dry (I guess from sitting under a heat lamp or in a warming oven). In short, he picked through the shrimp but the rest of that meal could not be eaten. Two adults ordered the fried oysters and their meals must have been sitting under a heat lamp or in a warming oven with the shrimp and grits as well. The fried oysters served by Jonathan's tonight were the worse I have ever eaten.....anywhere, and I have eaten lots of fried oysters. Their tiny oysters (or perhaps parts thereof) were extremely heavily breaded in cornmeal batter and were totally tasteless. A two skewer order of grilled vegetables which accompanied one fried oyster order was burned (not just charred) and on a second order of fried oysters the plate had one skewer of grilled vegetables that were barely grilled and the other skewer was completely raw, never having seen the grill. Literally not cooked at all. The remaining adult in our group did order the Christine's salad which they liked. That salad was the only decent food served any of the adults in our party. The kids ordered grilled cheese (bread was tough, most not eaten), mac and cheese and french fries. The mac and cheese and fries were fine. On an an earlier visit for a basic carry out salad, there was a manager available who admitted they were totally unfamiliar with the restaurant business, but he was interested in the level of service we received. None appeared to be available on this visit and unfortunately for us and the restaurant it really showed. If you are looking for acceptable mac and cheese, french fries or a salad, Jonathan's might be worth a look. Anything else.................I suggest you consider trying somewhere else or at the very least stopping at the front desk to see if things have gotten better.

Since Johnathan's had changed ownership, the menu has changed and it's very basic and blah. My favorites are no longer on the menu. Now cheese sticks, chicken tenders, burgers, blah! Went for the second time and my opinion had not changed. We finished our drinks and left after checking out the menu; nothing on the menu excited us. They have a great location and a nice atmosphere, just nothing to keep you there!
