I have been working in the Tyson's area for over 2 years and am always on the hunt for a solid Happy Hour spot. I must say that M&S is on the top of my list. Pros: CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP DRINKS & FOOD! Good quality (Especially for the price) Atmosphere is comfortable and classy Crowd is mainly business professionals Outdoor seating during the summer Service is good, busier days they are lacking (of course) Cons: The bar can get pretty packed during HH due to the PROS above. Enjoy!

I went here for happy hour and it was meh. The food and beer took forever to get to the table. The server was friendly and helpful, but the place was understaffed. The burger I ordered was a premade frozen patty. This is discouraging since they market themselves as a fish and meat place. I had some muscles and they were actually really good. I would go here again for happy hour since its right next to my office, but I would not go out of my way to come back. They will valet your car for free, but you still need to pay for the garage they put it in.

Why did you change your bread? That was one of the best items on the menu. Please change back.

We went on Sunday 9 Nov 2014 at 4:00 p.m. The service was TERRIBLE--no water for my guest even after requesting it twice! No bread with our meal even after we specifically requested it. The Crab & Corn Chowder would have been good if it was warm. The Plank Salmon Entree was DRY! My guest had Crusted Grouper which was soaking in olive oil --MISERABLE FOOD!! We spoke with the Manager and she assured us she would address the server--Now do something about the food too. I will NEVER go to this location again. A big problem is that other reviews say the same things and they don't do anything about it. Time for some BIG changes here!!!

Awesome!!! Perfect service, food came out fast, everything was on point. I got the swordfish casino which was amazing, brother had the lamb from the spring menu which was moist and tender with an amazing asparagus side, and his gf had the stuffed salmon which was delightfully delicious! We started with the steamed mussels which was perfectly seasoned. Then had the blue point oysters from Connecticut which was plump and sweet -reminded me of ostervillles. Great night, love the curtained sections.

I have yet to experience a meal here but I can say happy hour on the outside patio at M & S-Tysons is alright with me. Good drinks and a cheap but quality happy hour menu make this a nice place to stop and shake off a tough work week. The restaurant offers free valet parking-another little amenity available during happy hour.

Quick review on this one. Was here for a business lunch and it was fine. Service was good (but the restaurant was not busy). Food was reasonably well prepared. I can see where folks have seen a decline in the overall restaurant chain. I used to come here often when I worked in Tyson's and it was great. Now, seems a bit generic. Don't know if its because of the competition or what. Definitely not what it used to be.

Upgrade! It's amazing what a difference customer service makes. I'm still working right next door to the Tysons M&S and subsequently, still coming here for happy hour. Things have improved to a solid 3.5 stars in my book! There was previously a waitress who worked (seemingly) only during happy hour who was not that great. Well, she must have separated because there are two new guys who generally work the HH circuit. There's a red head dude with flowy hair and an English guy. Flowy hair guy is a low talker but very attentive. Great at suggesting mixed drinks that aren't gin and tonics (thanks!). The English guy is hilarious- while in any other situation I'd think it was totally uncalled for, he interjects in most of my conversations with my coworkers but generally has something really funny to lend to the conversation. He is also very attentive and won't push extra drinks on you (because after all, they do have happy hour specials). Big ups for complementing my taste in scotch. Overall, a huge improvement in service. Most servers have come to learn what drinks we like and never let our glasses go empty. Keep on doing what you're doing, fellas.

Had Mother's Day Brunch on May 11. 8 in our party. Eggs Benedict horrible. They did not toast their English Muffins. The hollandaise sauce was tasteless but the egg was cooked properly. Fruit accompaniment not fresh. This is about the fourth time we've been disappointed here. We will not go back.

PRICE ALERT! This location of McCormick & Schmick's raised their menu prices on many items starting today (08/13). What a way to celebration of National Filet Mignon day. Looks like they will be the only ones celebrating as they take a bigger bite out of your wallet.

Lackluster and inattentive service AND IT WAS NOT BUSY AT ALL. 8pm on a Friday and it was only at maybe less than a third occupied. That was the first sign that it sucked. Soup was lukewarm, fried oysters were not fresh, entrees weren't hot, steak was okay. We had a $100 gift card and two of were dining. Probably the only redeeming item was my cocktail, strawberry lime basil gin concoction. Total came to $140. It wasn't even worth the extra $40 to eat here. Won't go back even if you pay me.

I've been a McCormick fan for years. The meal I had was shockingly bad. Embarrassment of a NY strip steak. Left over potato. They've lost me forever. Really bad.

Yesterday was the first time I have ever eaten at this restaurant. All I have to say is WOW! I ordered the Shrimp Kisses and they were amazing. Simply amazing. Then I had the Blackened Chicken Fettuccine and that was amazing. The best part of the meal was the twice baked upside down apple pie. Oh my goodness. That was pure magic. Our waiter Abraham was wonderful. He is ver attentive. Next time I go back (which will be very soon) I will request Abraham as our waiter.

After visiting several other restaurants in the DC area, I thought back to my review. I hoped that my experience at M&S was just me having an off-night. However, considering that I took my wife to M&S on Mother's Day and spent quite a bit of money, I am down grading my original review. We have been to several "cheaper" restaurants and received better food and better service at reasonable prices. I don't like giving negative reviews but there are too many better options in this area and I want to advise people to consider where they spend their hard earned money. I will not dine at an Landry's restaurants again.

Not my favorite locale. I work in this building and my company gives a lot/ton/absorbinant amount of business to this place. I bet it wouldnt survive without the local businesses. I enjoy the HH deals and our usual bartendar is sweet (red head). But the quality of food needs to ramp up esp. the wait staff (who lied on a few occasions...when food was missing or late).

My wife and I went to M&M for our wedding anniversary, and I spared no expense. I purchased everything that we were interested in trying and eating and got a very nice bottle of wine on top of it. We had a great evening. Unfortunately, that great evening turned sour when we got food poisoning from something in our meal (most likely from the undercooked bacon wrapped shrimp). Within two hours of leaving the establishment, within ten minutes of each other, we were both struck with stomach pain followed by vomiting and diarrhea. We had not shared a single meal for three days before that evening so we know this is where it came from. When we made a complaint, we were assured that it would be taken "very seriously" and there was no need to return our food as evidence. "That won't be necessary" we were told. So we threw it away. Why would we keep hundreds of dollars worth of possibly tainted food? Expecting some kind of refund for our horrible experience, we were offered a non-committal 'dinner-on-us' with no specifics on what that entailed. My wife was understandably not interested in going back, but asked if we could call back until after she spoke with me. We've called back a few times now and it has been several weeks, but we have not heard from anyone in management. It seems they do not take such accusations very seriously at all, despite their initial claim. The only thing they've managed to do is drag this ordeal out so far that we've missed any opportunity we may have had to dispute the charges with our credit card company. We will never be going back to this, or any location of McCormick and Shits.

Every single time I come here, the bartenders are super sweet! HH is awesome here! Excellent HH wine/beer specials and awesome appetizer and finger food prices too. :)

I'm gonna jump away from the pack here and say.... 5-stars for the Happy Hours and here's why.... $1.95 Happy Hour food specials at the bar are from... M-F 4:00p - 7:00p M-Th 9:30p - 11:30p This food menu includes... Blackened Chicken Sandwich Seafood Skins Crab and Artichoke Dip Cheese Quesadilla Corn Fritters Buffalo Chicken Wings Cajun Fries Cheeseburger / Cajun burger Fried Pickles PLEASE NOTE: Food specials come with a minimum drink order. Drinks are regular price. Also includes complimentary VALET parking (except late at night). I must say I'm a HUGE FAN of their $2 Blacken Chicken Sandwich, $2 Chicken Wings and $2 burgers. I know this is a seafood restaurant, but their bar food is awesome. My only complaints was the Cajun fries had WAY too much seasoning, almost like they just dumped a whole bottle of season and the Asian Cross-Cut Ribs portion size was an absolute joke. Seriously...their burgers are way better and cheaper than McDonald's!!!!! I mean this is a no brainer. Because the food is so cheap, the happy hour items are NOT available for takeout. When I asked if we could box the rest of our half eaten food, they said we weren't allowed to...but she did anyway. As for their drinks, I tried the mojito, and I can't say I was impressed, but it wasn't bad I suppose. They have a nice assortment of drinks, beers, wines, cocktails, etc. Service was great. In fact after only my 2nd visit, I sat down, and ordered my drink, and then she asked me if my wife will be having the same drink as our first visit. I was literally dumbfounded that she correctly remembered our drink order from the first time. As far as Happy Hour bar food in Tysons Corner, I don't know if it gets any better than this. I'm definitely heading back.

I love this McCormick & Schmick's. I am in an executive MBA program, and we always meet here after our Saturday classes. While I haven't ever made it to the restaurant side of this place, I will tell you that their bar tender, Pete, has always been more than welcoming and wonderful. He learned my name the first time I met him, and he's always been very nice to myself and my classmates. I have ordered food here, and I've never had complaints.

For budgetary reasons, I typically wouldn't be eating at a restaurant like McCormick & Schmicks, but I received a gift card as a wedding present so my husband and I decided to give it a try. This location is tucked into an office complex right near one of the most heinous intersections in the Tyson's Corner area and right near the Metro construction. There's garage parking and an easy elevator trip from the garage to the restaurant bar entrance. We had a reservation but ended up waiting about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad although the bar is the only real waiting area. The dining area is romantically lit and each side table had curtains that could be drawn for a more intimate dinner. After we were seated we ordered drinks to start and then an Ahi tuna appetizer. The tuna tar tare was delicious and cost $14.95. We also had bread brought for the table. I told you in the beginning that I don't eat here primarily because of the prices; my husband's rib eye was $34.95 and my petite filet was $32.95. I know good steak can cost good money, but yikes. I did end up eating every last morsel tho, both steaks were medium rare and cooked beautifully. Each steak comes with a portion of broccolini; we didn't know that (it isn't listed on the menu) and also ordered a la carte roasted red pepper mashed potatoes and asparagus.; I'm glad we did as the mashed potatoes were fantastic and were a large portion. The asparagus was good but nothing I can't do myself. We skipped desert as we were both pretty full at that point. The staff was friendly and accommodating, although we did spend a lot of time waiting in between "courses." Our waiter was a bit soft spoken and not really friendly (but not rude) but that's no big deal. We had a $50 gift card, and even with that our meal, tax and tip came out to just over $100, so it's not going into our rotation but it was a nice treat. They validate parking! I saw that the happy hour prices are great and it's a pretty nice bar area, so I think if I ever return it will be for happy hour. I'd love to try the oysters next time I come.

My favorite part of this restaurant is the service. They are very courteous. I also think this restaurant cooks nice food. They used to have list of $10 food menu for lunch time but it's no longer available. :( I like their happy hour food. It's really good and cheap. The drinks are still spendy though.

I went here for tax day $10.40 meal. Then happened to notice the prices for happy hour was decent too! It was very crowded but the waiters tried their best to make people happy. Even though they were very slow but the weather was nice and we were outside...when the weather is nice slow service seems not that bad...But then again my friend had to leave and she was getting frustrated that our check didn't come out for like 30 minutes. There were a lot of people and it was peak happy hour time when I was there, but no excuses! The fried mac and cheese and crab dip was good! Cobb seafood salad was decent. They gave me a Tax Relief Certificate for 10.40 hhahahaha so I have to go back soon. Maybe around happy hour again teehee, DO NOT get the WAY water down, no slush, with cheese looking whip cream on top of what they so called a strawberry daiquiri. And the Red something margarita special for tax day was blah! I tasted nothing but water and a hint of alcohol....Someone got a bloody mary and that looked better than the crap I had. Their mixed and cocktails drinks were very disappointing. Better off going to TGIF or just get a class of wine.

Five people in our party. Arrived 7pm on a Monday night. No doubt, the oysters (appetizer) were fresh, fresh, fresh, What, is the Chesapeake Bay right out back? And the shrimp wrapped in bacon (appetizer) was delicious (even though it was room temperature). The dinner, on the other hand, was extremely mediocre. First of all, the service was very odd: the waiter delivered one entrée ... then three minutes later, two more entrees came out ... then three minutes after that, the other two entrees were delivered. Why can't they all be served at the same time? Couldn't have been because the meals were being prepared: they were ALL tepid (temperature). If they had been hot, right off the grill/broiler, then maybe I could understand. Very strange. Moreover, two of us ordered the same thing (blackened red snapper). One of the pieces of fish was TWICE as big as the other. Not very nice to make one diner feel as if they're short-changed. (The taste was OK but the fish was kind of dry.) And the crab topping on the fish? Puh-leeze. $8 for barely a tablespoon full of some crab meat? (Didn't look like lump crab, to me.) And they put the crab in a little cup with some kind of gross broth ... what WAS that? Chicken broth? Seafood broth? I've no clue but it wasn't very good. Extremely over-priced and odd-tasting. Also, when we ordered, we asked if the entrées came with sides. The waiter said that they did not, so we ordered a couple of sides of asparagus. But, alas, ALL of the entrees came with mashed potatoes and succotash. The asparagus sides were totally unnecessary. Was the waiter ignorant or was he that desperate to increase the amount of the check? This was my first visit to M&S ... I had been looking forward to it very much. I ended up disappointed ... no reason at all to return.

Great happy hour specials! 5-7 on weekdays. Basically McDonald's prices. Food tastes good too.

We really enjoyed this restaurant at the National Harbor but the one at Tysons Corner was not nearly as good. I ordered the same dish (fish and chips) at both restaurants but unfortunately the one I ate this evening was not good at all in comparison. Service was so so and the ambience was not up to date as well.

The food is pretty good but dont go there hungry. It takes FOREVER at lunch for the simplest order to be filled and the waitstaff is unjustly arrogant. The server today (Amber) actually rolled her eyes while my associate was asking a question. Maybe she doesnt realize that she works at an over-priced TWO STAR seafood joint.

HH IS BOMB. BOMB-TASTIC! CHHHHHHHHHHEAP eats for decent quality food. Service-wise, depending on who you get, service can be wonderful or completely absent. If you get the brunette with a very cute short bob, she is GREAT! One time we went, we basically didn't see our server the entire night...good thing our bill ended up being $150 for two ppl (from alcohol) and by the end of the night, we didn't even remember who our server was. Alcohol + cheap cheap eats = a-okay by me!

I've been to a couple of happy hours here, and finally decided to write. Yes, they do offer the happy hour menu on weekends, but no, there are no drink specials. I had the sweet potato fries, the buffalo wings, the popcorn shrimp, the mussels, and chicken quesadilla. All of these items were tasty and pretty much 1/2 of the normal price, except for the wings. I thought the wings were overcooked. I was going to get the oyster shooters, but instead, I saw the buttermilk fried oysters with garlic aioli on the menu, and got that instead at regular price. It was very good. The iced tea was refreshing, and they offer fresh squeezed lemonade with no free refills. It was dead on a late Saturday afternoon, but who cares? A nice break after doing some quick shopping in Tysons. Oh yeah, free self park in the garage or free valet also.

I like coming here for Happy Hour since the food is so cheap! I recently started getting their lemon drop martini's. I usually don't like lemon but this one is perfect for me. It's so close to work and home that it's a good spot for a quick bite to eat (and get a drink).

This restaurant is Slow Our reservation was at 6;45 and it was around 7:30 we finally got seated after many members of our party complaining Food was subpar and overpriced Waitstaff screwed up several aspects of people's orders Prime rib was tiny and dry - though it was ordered Rare Hostess is sassy and rude Took forever to get drinks and longer to get food In short the negative yelp reviews are true!! Spend your money somewhere that won't waste your time!! It's a wanna be fancy restaurant that doesn't know how to achieve customer service!!

The only reason this place even gets 2 stars is because their HH deals are awesome. Other than that, like everyone else has stated, the service is vile. At one point, I caught our waiter literally rolling his eyes at us while taking down our order. You know the saying that goes: "You get what you pay for"? Yeah, well, this place is one of them!

I had a work event on Thursday and Heather Martin, Catering Sales Manager, took care of everything. Great beef and chicken skewers, calamari, and spring rolls. If you haven't tried the cakes, cookies, and pies please do. The cheese and fruit platter was good as well. Darryl and Mo did a fantastic job serving us in the Callahan Room. Great value for your dollar. I'll be back McCormicks Tyson's.

This place has definitely fallen from it's former glory. Service was 1 star Food was comparable to a mall Food court Waiter brought the wrong beer to our table and when he realized it he poured it back into the bottle splashing it all over my friend. He also tried to pontificate about something... I wasn't paying attention but he could not take a hint. It is too bad I used to love this place

I went here with some coworkers for happy hour. We sat outside on the patio. The waiter was a little.... pushy? The guy really knew what he was doing, I'll give him that. He was "edgy" and "entertaining" but I could have done without it. He kept brining people drinks before they ordered them. I can see that being okay for some people, but a little presumptuous either way. The drink prices seemed fairly reasonable. Walking around the place seemed a little stuffy, like an old-school working man's club sort of place. I kind of liked it. The happy hour drink special applied to domestic drinks - Bud, Coors, and Yuengling, maybe a few others. I had Yuengling. The happy hour apps were limited, but there were some decent ones. I had the chicken wings and then later some sliders. According to the waiter the restaurant has new owners, and the menu changed, but the menu we had did not reflect those changes, which was a little annoying. I ordered wings and fried green tomatoes, and after waiting like 30 minutes for the fried green tomatoes the waiter told us that that's no longer on the menu. Didn't really ruin my day or anything. I had the wings too, and later the slider. We kind of took our time there. Overall the food was okay... not amazing, not bad... just okay. Overall my experience there was decent. I'm giving it three stars. I feel like McCormick & Schmick's might have been really good once, but now it's just expensive an mediocre? I could be wrong. I'm mostly basing that on little gut feelings I got here and there. I can't really complain much about my experience. Also, it was just happy hour, so I have no idea how their lunch/dinner entrees and such taste. It might be worth checking out, but if you're looking for an awesome experience somewhere, you might want to keep on looking elsewhere. This place may not be worth the price.... it's not a bad option for happy hour.

My family took me here Friday night to celebrate my birthday. Props for going the extra mile to print a menu that wished me HBD and for allowing my mom to bring a cake and providing us with knives and plates to cut it. Disses: - bringing me a dirty martinin sans the signature bleu cheese and bacon stuffed olives - i.e. the whole reason i ordered it. the waiter told me they were out and then offered to pull out some pimentos and stuff me some himself. no thanks. - slowwwwwnesss. you know that feeling like you have to get everything out when the waiter comes because you don't know when you will see them again? dislike. - serving my mom embarrassingly overcooked salmon. like hard, crunchy crust on it. And the food was just ehh. I can't tell you exactly why, but everything was just not great at all. I felt bad seeing how dissapointed everyone was who was treating me to a birthday dinner. The location is convienent so I would possibly return for HH.

I had issues with a visit. I submitted my comments via the M&S website and didn't hear back for 5 weeks until I finally got a call from them only after I followed up. After much discussion, she said she's sending me something in the mail. I waited 3 weeks but didn't receive anything. I had to call to follow up. Talking to the Manager, I was told they probably needed to contact Corporate to send something in the mail. After 1.5 weeks, I followed up again and talked to the General Manager. She said they don't send gift cards/certificates, that it is up to Corporate to send them. It has been half a year since my visit. They never followed up and I have yet to receive any gift cards/certificates in the mail as originally promised.

I was worried after reading so many horrible reviews about this place. Almost cancelled the reservation but didn't. I'm glad we didn't. This location seemed a lot newer/cleaner than Arlington or Reston locations. We went here on valentine's day but unlike other yelpers, slow service wasn't an issue at all for us. We were seated and waited promptly. Our waiter came by at least once during each course. Food came out fast as well. One thing I was wondering was that if we were supposed to get some breads before the meal? Steak houses usually serve some breads and butter but M&S didn't. Not sure if our waiter just forgot the serve it or M&S just doesn't serve breads.... Anyways, these are what we ordered: Chopped salad Clam chowder Filet mignon (served with sauteed vegetables & potato croquette) Lobster (served with sauteed vegetables & pan fried potato) We didn't know our entrees comes with any side dishes so we also ordered these: Steamed asparagus Potato croquette I wish the waiter would've told us that the entrees comes with some sides. We wouldn't have ordered extra side dishes. It was too much food for us. Even though we've been to Arlington and Reston location in the past, for some reason, we thought everything was a la carte. Oh well. My hubby really liked his chopped salad and steak. My lobster was good. I guess lobster is pretty much the same wherever you go. I liked vegetables that came with my lobster. Clam chowder was a bit too salty for my taste. It was just okay. I'd probably try different soup next time. Overall, it was a decent dining experience.

The last time I went here was a few years ago... and here's why: I chose this place to have my celebratory graduation dinner with my parents, brother, and grandmother who was staying with us. I knew everyone liked seafood and thought that this would be a good bet. Someone in my graduating class worked there and must have realized it was me on the phone when I made reservations because when we got seated (seating is uncomfortable) we looked at our menu (huge, long paper menus--- as seafood changes daily) across the top it said "congratulations!!!!" with my name on it. That was sweet- but I know that experience isn't a "typical one" so I will not count that when in my rating. We ordered our appetizers- oysters and a shrimp cocktail, I recall. They were brought out fast enough. Our waiter took our order for entrees and then disappeared. Literally just vanished. After a half hour or so of seeing no one, people at my table got impatient. My dad eventually even got up and stormed through the restaurant looking for our waiter (I was shocked and embarrased- but not so much I didn't let him do it- I was HUNGRY). Finally, our food was brought out to us, but honestly, it had been so long and we were so unhappy we didn't enjoy our meal. One fish dish was good, another was overcooked. I liked my crabcake, but I wouldn't rave about it. I can't remember what my mom got, and I think my brother had chicken (one of these doesn't belong...). I can't rave about this place. The service really made it unenjoyable- and the seafood is decent, but really, you'd expect better from a seafood place, especially in Tysons.

Came here again for happy hour recently and the quality of the food has really gone down. I think I just liked the fries out of everything we ordered. Some people in our party ordered oysters and they looked and tasted horrible. I can't believe they even served that to us. My friends don't like to make a fuss about sending food back but our waiter should have known that those oysters were not fresh, especially when half of them were not touched. What is also up with the spicy tuna rolls? The chef couldn't tell the rice was hard? It was the worst roll I've ever eaten. We also ordered the tuna tartar and we noticed that the other waiter/waitress mixed the ingredients for some tables but our waiter didn't do it for us. He just dropped it off and quickly went to take care of other tables. He seemed too preoccupied with other people and barely came back to check on us. I would go back again but not for food. Drinks were decently priced.

Tired of drinking at TGIF and Gordon Biersch? Feel like having the same mall food in an upscale looking, but dirty and rundown basement with slow as balls wait staff? Congratulations! You made it! And they'll even park your car for you, for FREE! Wait, you gotta tip! It's NOT FREE! Haha OMG the happy hour special food is soo cheap! OMG the happy hour special food is soooo crappy! You get what you pay for. Out of 6 guys at our table, not a single person said "mmm, this is good". Haha It was really not that great...I would have paid $3 MORE dollars and just gone to 5 Guys for a burger... Waitstaff was incredibly slow with every single order. My friend had to wait 10min to be acknowledged and another 10min before he got his beer. That's 20min before getting a drink!!! WTF We even started to kind of complain to the waitress that she was forgetting stuff (never wrote anything down) and it was taking a really long time...5 more minutes for a side of ketchup...10 more minutes for another beer...20 more minutes for the check...5 more minutes for my friend's dinner that came out incredibly late! Gotta love Tysons Corner...

Here for a corporate lunch of about 20 people so my expectations were low and sadly this place hit them completely. Long wait for the food, service bordering on the unfriendly and food that got pushed around the plate. Pretty bad. Caesar salad was full of big lumps of lettuce, the sauce was thin with no anchovy (which should come from the Worcestershire Sauce) or parmesan hit. The grilled chicken was dry and flavorless and I left it after two bites. However, the creamed potatoes were delicious and the steamed vegetables fresh and crispy. Thought I'd add one of my colleagues' Facebook comment after the lunch: "Waiter at lunch to my coworker: "You didn't eat your rice! What, you don't like rice?". Takes my plate, scolds me, "You didn't eat your shrimp! You didn't like them?!". Had I read the menu closer, I might have seen that I was ordering linguine with a side of guilt." 'nuff said! Yes, I know they were catering for a big group but this is the business they are in, no? Otherwise, nice place with a cozy atmosphere.

Service - B+ Food - B - Crowd - C - My overall experience with McCormicks is good for the most part. The food was ok hamburger was overcooked but it was good. Service was ok could have been better took them awhile to ask me about what I wanted. Cocktails are great. They have a really good happy hour menu. The attitudes in the place were not that great either. But I will give them another chance everyone has an off day. I give the crowd a C because for happy hour it was dead only a few people at the bar and a few at the surrounding tables. This is Reshawna Leaven, the Happy Hour Diva signing off :)

I went on 5/14 on a rainy night. The place is nicely decorated as most McCormick's but the service was terrible. We were greeted by our server who appeared very nice. It wasn't packed when we arrived. The server didn't bring waters for the table (only the people who asked for them) and frequently when asked to bring additional silverware to the table he wouldn't. We had to share forks and knives multiple times. He didn't clear unused wine glasses ( a couple of us drank beer) and wasn't attentive to the table. Multiple tables around us sat down and were served before us (different server). The food runner was particularly rude and when he brought a piece of bread to the table (enough for 3 people to have a piece), we were a table of 6, someone asked for more bread immediately. He responded by saying "I only have some many hands". To me, that's a bad way to respond to a customer. In fact him having the same hand that brought the small plate of bread could have brought the larger plate. When he returned with more bread he placed it in front of the person who asked for more and said "Here's YOUR bread" with emphasis on the YOUR. Like I said the service wasn't great, but the food was excellent. I'd like to give another location another shot since I've heard such good things.

To my fellow Yelpers who carped (sorry, couldn't resist) about the service: Perhaps you'd be happier at an All-U-Can-Eat buffet where you wouldn't have to languish while the chef lovingly and skillfully prepares the fresh, delectable, and delicately flavored meal you're about to devour. Personally, I took the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful wine on the menu and my companion's company. To each her own. I had the trout sauteed in a citrus sauce, which paired beautifully with an Oregon pinot gris called Cloudline, and absolutely outstanding blueberry shortcake for dessert. Yumm!

We were seated with a part of 8. The AC was not working and we were starting to perspire. Management moved us out to an outdoor table which was much better. The waiter asked everyone if they wanted an appetizer when if was obvious after ordering several oyster platters for the table that people were ordering entrees only. Very programmed. Very good seafood but at this price level one can do much better in this town., and I rather seek more imaginative menu options.

First impressions were very bad sorry to say. First of all, after finding the building... (It's quite the find, but look for the SAIC building and M&S is across from there.) You have no idea where the front entrance is! From the parking garage, you actually walk into the bar/outside seating area. It took my party 5 minutes to flag one of the frantic waiters to tell us where the front of house was. The "maitre'd" was quite sloppy... I mean I hate to judge on looks but that's part of her job. For a decent restaurant, some dark leggings, a layered v neck sweater, and uncombed hair just doesn't cut it. So I ask about the specials and she literally admitted she had no idea and afterward she really didn't care... She just flopped around... So back to the service. Like the other yelpers said. It's hit or miss. I would geuss my server was trying his best but it literally took and hour for my meal to come out. Two other tables who came in after us had ordered and completely finished their meals!!! I just think there was some bar special going on and the kitchen focused all of their efforts there... Bad move. We pay more at the tables... I ordered the hanger steak and .... Well let's just say I waited over an hour and it was not worth it at all. I really hate to directly complain to the waiter, since he doesn't cook the food, but I did and my food finally came out. I know it's a tough cut of meat, but overall it was a tad too salty and for the price, the hassle, and the wait, let's just say I won't be back anytime soon. Oh, and if you park in the garage, bring your ticket so they can validate it. If not, it's an extra 3-4 bucks, especially if you have to wait for your food, it will be more for parking!

For the love of God and All That is Holy, McCormick & Schmick's! That's it! No more chances! Dinner there on August 10, and bleh! Not only bleh! But it was bleh AT A GLACIAL PACE!! Service was slow as molassas running uphill backwards in January. That's right, I just downgraded you from a "MEH" to a "BLEH" and you know . . . *that's* gonna leave a mark . . . .

I've been here with coworkers and the food is overpriced but not bad. The place has a lot of seating and good service. The place's purpose is clearly for businesspeople and it serves this purpose well.

Went to the Super Bowl party for the second year in a row ok time not worth the money though. The food was not good. The buffet food was ravaged and gone early and I was given the absolute worst prime rib I ever had. I did not know you could mess it up that bad but they sure did. Dry as fall leaves

Better late happy hours I've been to. Great service which also meant drinks were in constant rotation. Food was great and cheap to boot. Deep fried mac and cheese was the bomb. Definitely coming back for more.

We came here to meet some family members who were in town on a Friday night. As we were walking through the restaurant to our table for 8 at 7pm, I noticed that the bar area was extremely crowded! They seemed to be having a great time, so my hopes were high that this place would deliver. However, when we were seated at our table, I saw that there was only one other occupied table in the entire room we were in. Not a good sign for a Friday night. Our waiter was very pleasant, but oh so s-l-o-w. I'm not sure why it would take 30 minutes to get our drinks, and then another 50 minutes for the food. (Two of the orders were wrong--my uncle ordered the Steamer clams, and they brought him a plate of steamed vegetables.) Thankfully the wine selection was very good. When our food finally arrived, our plates were so hot they could barely be touched. Obviously they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a very long time! My husband's tilapia was so dried out it had cracks in it. I had ordered the Lemon Sole with crab and Brie stuffing. The obviously frozen fish was flavorless and had the consistency of mashed potatoes. Why would a restaurant that touts a seafood-laden menu serve frozen fish??? And charge $27 for it? My sister-in-law ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer as an entree portion. She loved this dish. The fish was fresh and served beautifully with a sesame-soy dipping sauce. The lesson here is to order food that doesn't require much cooking! After being there for more than 2 hours, we were ready to pay the tab and get out of there! I must say, the best part of the meal was the wine. Next time, I think I'll skip the dining room and join the happy hour crowd at the bar!

After seeing Donald P's review of McCormick & Schmidt's happy hour menu, I decided to give it a shot. I met up there with a friend for some quick drinks and some catching up. Blame it on the alcohol...blame it on my mood, but this review is going to get schizophrenic, as everything points this to a 5 star review, but for whatever reason, my gut feels that it really is a 3 star. So I'm going to split the difference and give this 4 stars - but you can be the final judge. McCormick & Schmidt is hidden in the lobby of an office building, that around the corner from the drive way off Westpark. I missed the turn in the first time, so I had to circle around before I could get in. I saw that there were signs for free valet parking, but I didn't see a sign for normal parking (I only do valet parking in DC, outside of DC I can't do valet parking without feeling like a total spoiled princess...which I am, but that doesn't mean I like feeling like one). I turn left into the valet parking anyways, and proceeded to drive into a couple of cones and jumped a curb. Yes, all of this before having a single drink. I really am an Asian female driver (with deep apologies to all other Asian female drivers who actually know how to drive). After circling around a bit, I realize that the parking garage is right past the valet sign when you first turn in, so again, I had to circle around the block before parking my car. Great! I get to McCormick & Schmidt and I'm hit by a wave of smoke. It's not Mc&S's fault that I'm completely spoiled by Maryland and DC smoke-free bars, but at the same time, it was annoying to have my favorite suit reeking of cigs by the time night was over. But I digress. I see an empty bar table, and I hop on, and text my friend to let her know I was here and waiting for her in the bar area. Within seconds, an extremely friendly (and cute) server comes over to take my drink order. He recommends a few wines to me, and also shows me the happy hour menu, which is indeed as great as Donald P's review says they are. As I had several drinks by the end of the night, I can't remember them all, however the prices ranged from $1.95 - $5.95 for food specials. Not too hungry (just chatty and gossipy) my friend and I each order something from the $1.95 section - she had the veggie quesadillas, and I order the crab dip. Her quesadillas were cheesy and hot and melty! My crab dip seemed a little small - it was the size of the little white ramekins that nice restaurants use to bring you condiments, however I did just pay only $1.95 for crab, so I really shouldn't have expected too much. However, it was well worth the $1.95! There were tons of large lumps of crab in the dip, and the chips that were served with them were plentiful and baked with a sprinkling of cheese and topped with a little pico de gallo! All for $1.95 - a definite steal! The service was awesome, our server was prompt, friendly, funny but not intrusive nor irritating. He would make recommendations but wouldn't press us or do the "awww, but it's *really good*" schtick that some servers will pull to try to get you to order the special or whatever. He was attentive and was near us whenever our drinks got low, but never hovered nor intruded upon our conversation. So why do I ache to give this place only 3 stars? I don't know. Perhaps it was the other customers, who all looked rather miserable which brought down the "fun" factor for us. Or perhaps it was the dim lighting which made the restaurant seem too much like a cave. Or perhaps it was all the stale smoke that clung to the room and to our clothes for the entire night. Or perhaps that for me, Mc&S lacks the soul...the je nois se quoi...that makes this a 5 star place for me. The food was delicious and at a great value, the service was impeccable, but it just lacked...something. However, the value, the quality of food and the superb service is enough to push me through my misgivings and give Mc&S 4 stars. I will come back again and perhaps I will be able to quash my misgivings and give this place the 5 stars that it seems try hard to earn.

M&C kid friendly? TOTALLY! timing is a determining factor here, but we got in and out from 6-6:45... they had kids menus, crayons with good options, vanilla ice cream for desert! not to mention the table has paper in case the kids want to color more.... Funny? I normally think of M&C for business meetings, but tonight with the kids was fun, and my meal Pan Seared Flounder with tomatoes, capers and potatoes was excellent!

I don't know why my clients always want to do business lunches here. The food is horrible and on top of that you have to go back to work after eating the horrible food. On an average month I probably do 3-4 business lunches here at the client's request and those 3 to 4 days are the worst days ever. You are sitting in your office with your stomach rumbling and making weird noises from the nasty food and realizing you still have another 4 hours of work left. I haven't gone to this location for dinner yet but from the lunch here I'm not sure I want to risk it with dinner. The money is better spent elsewhere.

Went there for Christmas because few restaurants were open and since the rest of my party (my son and a good friend) liked seafood. The food was fairly good but the service was spotty. For example, I had made reservations but we were given the table closest to the entrance area which was noisy and crowded. Then they moved us to the bar where no one was. We finally got a table in the restaurant area which was more suitable. For an appetizer, I ordered a salad but it came with the wrong dressing on it. Although our server caught the mistake, by the time I received the correct one, my main dish arrived about 2 minutes later. My son and friend liked their seafood dishes and my steak was good but I've had better steaks at the Capital Grille. For dessert, my friend and I ordered sorbet but we were charged more than was listed on the menu. Overall, I certainly have had better Christmas dining experiences during my lifetime (I'm over 65). I thought the restaurant was overpriced and overrated. I filled out their online survey but never got a response back. I will never return.

If you have any seafood allergies -- don't go here. I am allergic to crab and nothing else. But every time I go here and regardless of what I order I have a reaction. I always tell the server but they don't seem to care. But with that said, before I am forced to take a benadryl, I have always enjoyed my meal! The service is typically prompt and the tuna salad at lunch is fantastic.

Good, cheap food during their late night happy hour. The offerings on the regular menu are way too over-priced and the staff is less than professional. Especially the server at the bar area. She is NOT VERY RAVEN.

2.5 Stars This is a kind of unexpected location as it's on the first floor of an office building which is usually reserved more for little cafeteria style places and cafes rather than a full out, semi high-end seafood chain. But, I did stumble in here during an exploration of nearby lunching options and I was underwhelmed. The atmosphere is decently cozy and I did think it was cool how we got this sort of secluded 6 person booth, isolated from the rest of the restaurant. Service was unbearably slow and we were intrigued by their broadcasted "45 minute lunch" guarantee, but apparently you need to request or mention it to the hostess. Something about that is kinda sketchy. Like, you receive preferential, expedited service, but only if you request it. I guess since we didn't request it they decided to turn our lunch break into an epic marathon meal. Not what I'm looking for during a lunch break from work. Anyway, I ordered the catfish on grits per the recommendation of one of my dining companions. It came out and looked great. I was impressed with the size of it, a substantial piece of blackened catfish on a mountain of grits. It was hot and fresh but the fish was horribly overseasoned and the grits were so rich and heavy, in a bad way. It was just oozing cream and oil and I just got tired of eating it halfway through. I can appreciate some creamy grits, but this was just overboard and far too heavy for me for lunch. Under the heaviness, it tasted fine but really could've used some moderation. I will not be in a huge hurry to return here, but I'm not opposed. I'm intrigued by the happy hour specials that everyone talks about and I'll definitely have to find out about this 45-minute lunch, now that I'm in the know.

Wow, my colleague and I should have been skeptical when we arrived on a beautiful sunny afternoon during rush hour lunch and it was not busy. The food for an upscale restaurant was sub par and the server was lousy. Liz was her name and we had to continuously ask for her to come and serve us. This is my 2nd horrible encounter with M & S at 2 different establishments. I feel this is a systemic issue and they need to revisit their training program. My first encounter at the M & S in downtown DC near ChinaTown....again not busy but the customer service was extremely slow. It was so slow that I went to the bar and got 2 beverages before the server came back with the first round of beverages for our table. I actually emailed the M & S headquarters about the service and they essentially did nothing. So, I try again many months later in Tysons Corner....same scenario. The place is damn near empty but the server is extremely slow and very unapologetic for being slow. There was no refill of drinks, no checking on our table, and not even a mad rush to give us our check. Matter of fact, the server taking care of the table next to us served patrons twice compared to our one time. Finally, the server taking care of the neighboring table brought us our check. I say to M & S, if you want to be known as an upscale restaurant, please train your serve staff to treat patrons with upscale treatment.

Too bad there isn't a McCormick's in Raleigh! Their happy hour is on my top 5. But M and I had dinner here on a Friday night. I love McCormick's sourdough bread. Crusty on the outside and soft and dense on the inside. Eat it with real butter.... and wow. True love. We shared a grilled seafood platter that had shrimp, scallops, salmon, crab cake, and rice pilaf. The shrimp and scallops were very good. The salmon was a little dry and the crab cake a touch to salty. I took the leftover crabcake home and made a crab omelette -- yum and even better over garlic rice. We also shared the meatloaf platter to make our own "budget surf and turf." Very generous serving of meatloaf which was better than I expected. It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The service was good and the waiter even wrapped up some of the sourdough bread for me to take home.

Nice place. I wouldn't consider it upscale, as was suggested by the Symposium Organizers of which I was in town. The service was good, the food - including appetizers and desert - were very flavorful and our group of six got to eat in this cute little enclosure (it would be a cabana if we were outdoors!) allowing us to feel like we had the restaurant all to ourselves. I'd been to this chain years before in Atlanta and would eat at the chain again. I just wouldn't get the Rockfish, as there were more bones than I cared to forego; taking away from complete enjoyment of the meal..

We tried to book several other places around Vienna this past Saturday night-but were greeted by full, full, or 4:30 or 9pm reservations, most likely due to people being stuck inside for a week and Valentine's Day on the horizon. Finally, we took a chance on McC&S as they had reasonable booking times, and were not happy about the experience. Luckily, we somehow scored a cozy table next to a heater, but apart from that, the rest of the experience was pretty mediocre. Starting off, there was a long line of people lining up at 7:30pm. There's no coat check and there were not enough hostesses to get people seated quickly. It took 15 minutes from entrance to reservation-a sign that they are not used to being that busy. Service was good-but the food was highly disappointing considering the reputaton of the chain and the price. My shrimp were grilled, but cold. The restaurant is famous for its seafood and crabcakes-but the cakes were doughy. Thank goodness for the friendly and helpful server-otherwise the whole experience would have been a wash. I really cannot recommend anyone going there for lunch or dinner!

It was me and my husband's 1st wedding anniversary and decided to come here for a nice dinner. Definitely got what we came for! The waiter was a little off but overall he was great. (He forgot one of our appetizers.) Food was super yummy! And I loved the atmosphere. We came at a good time where there wasn't crowd. It was on a Tuesday at 9:00. If you've never tried a creme brule, you have to try it here. So creamy, perfectly sweet, and the sugar crust just adds a little extra fun. Loved it. I gave 4 stars only cuz of the forgetfulness of our waiter but we gave him the benefit of the doubt and he turned out great in the end. Definitely would come back again!

I've got to give their Happy Hour 5-stars alone. It's one of the best bargains in the Tysons area. Who can beat a $1.95 cheeseburger (cooked to order) with fries?!!! Yes, there is a $2.50 drink minimum, but I don't think it's a big deal for the value of the food.

This location does a big happy hour crowd with all the businesses in and around Tyson's Corner. The happy hour food specials are pretty $money$ - cheeseburgers, crab cakes, and other goodness as I recall for only a few pesos. Many times you'll also find yourself settling into the dining area for an actual meal. Their seafood does not suck in the least.

In the past I have enjoyed dining at M&S, but not my last visit to the McLean location (previous visits have been to other locations). I was seated immediately, and was dining alone (business travel). But the service was so incredibly slow, it took an hour and 15 minutes to complete my meal. I knew what I wanted to order, and placed it as soon as the waiter returned with my beverage. It came out with a tepid temperature like it had been sitting for awhile. Then I made the fatal error of ordering a slice of key lime pie for dessert. It tasted like something out of my grocer's freezer, and took over ten minutes to arrive. I had made small talk with the hostess and waiter, and both knew I had A) driven to the location and B) was from out-of-town. Neither offered parking validation, and I did not realize I needed it since all the signs in the parking garage simply said, "Free Visitor Parking for 2 Hours" with no mention of validation. So then the parking wench wanted $3, because I went over the 1st free hour without validation. Of course I wouldn't have, had the service been timely. Then she wouldn't take cash--what parking garage in a high business travel area doesn't take cards? I was thoroughly outdone and won't be back--and yes, I travel to the area fairly regularly.

This place is sort of overrated. I came here expecting amazing seafood, but I thought it was sub-par. The main gripe I have with this place is that the portions are tiny for the price and also there is not a lot of variety in the food. The service was amazing though and so was the location. Overall, though I was disappointed with the food.

I was quite impressed by my first visit here at McCormick & Schmick's. They had a nice crowd of people, yet we were seated as soon as we walked in the door. Both our beverage and dinner orders were taken immediately and our server was quite pleasant. While we waited, we were presented with warm bread and butter (the way all restaurants should do it). The food was delicious! I had the Parmesan Encrusted Chicken over a bed of pasta. We even scored complimentary desserts (creme brûlée and chocolate covered strawberries) because it was Mother's Day. This location even has complimentary valet parking! I will definitely be back!

Poor fare that is the usual mode of this place. I have visited them in several spots and the quality of the food is generally poor. Service was friendly but the food left a lot to be desired. Why go there you ask - well it is convenient and also sometimes it is someone else's decision... Not a favorite.

.... Service = snail pace at best .... Bartender = no comment .... Cleanliness = subpar .... Professionalism= feels like this restaurant is managed by college students .... Cost = completely over priced/over rated .... Management = is there any? Present? Will I be back? Ummm no. There are plenty of other places to experience for dinner in the Tysons area where you will receive the service, the attention, the professionalism and the pricing that reflects the whole package. Don't waste your time or money, unless of course those don't matter to you.

Time to close this place down or make serious changes. The food is the same stuff they have been serving for years. It's a waste of your money to go to a boring place that has no ambience, sub par food, at premium prices. Service was slow, and waiter had a lax attitude as if he did not care about us. You can easily find other restaurants that will provide a better experience. Its not a fun place like it was 10 years ago. My recommendation is simple for corporate. You need to hire New cooks, waiters and management. This place won't make it more than a couple more years. Overall review: Stay AWAY

Definitely not impressed. Food was far below what was expected for the McCormick and Schmick's name and reputation. I had the Pasta Primavera which had zero flavor going for it with the exception of an occasional zest of lemon. Beyond that the vegetables and pasta were not seasoned in the slightest. I took two bites, then sent the plate back. The server didn't ask one question about the uneaten plate of food, and offered no form of substitution or compensation for it. Rather than learn my lesson from that, I took a chance with dessert, and received the tiniest Crème Brule I've ever seen - Which was also burnt on the top as opposed to crystallized like it should have been. In addition, I asked for an iced tea not once, not twice, not even three times, but four time, and it never came. It wasn't until one of the people I was with told the server, "He really wants that iced tea he's asked for repeatedly," that it finally came - Even then no refill was offered when the glass was empty. Is this place heading the route of Red Lobster - Premium prices for conveyor belt food with little to no care? It certainly felt like it after my meal. I certainly wouldn't recommend coming here. ***Update*** I got a message here on Yelp from someone claiming to be affiliated with McCormick and Schmick's. They offered me the opportunity to provide my information to have a manager contact me. This is concerning to me. Why? Because clearly someone with the company reads Yelp, so they should already be more than aware of the ongoing issues, as well as the consensus of the community's opinion about them. Rather than trying to put out fires regarding experiences that people have already expressed, why not work on fixing the overall problem with your food and service? As I said, someone with M&S clearly reads Yelp, so they should know what those issues are already.

Had a private company dinner party - service was good. Very attentive. Food was ok, could have used a bit more flare as it was just a salmon filet and broccoli. One of the 5 appetizer trays was not served though and I was still charged for it. A little annoyed they offered the savings plan card, but failed to mention it's a $25 fee.

Not my favorite place. The service is great and the setting is very nice, but the menu is pretty uninteresting and the food is just OK. It's not even a true seafood place because there aren't a lot of good pure seafood dishes. It's mostly just steak and fish, and they probably have just as many pasta dishes as anything. There's virtually nothing vegetarian available (don't even say salad). We went here for a company lunch and I had the buttermilk shrimp with Old Bay fries. Tasted like every other fried seafood dish I've had, but it was really the only thing I saw that I wanted at the time. Would've been cool if they had a good blackened scallops dish or something. My one coworker had bacon-wrapped shrimp with grits, which actually looked quite good -- if I ever go again I might try that. Also... they sat us in an area right by a highly trafficked silverware stand. It was somewhat noisy and slightly annoying. Same as when I tried the Reston location... just not a restaurant for me. If you really really like steak or fish, you might enjoy it more than I do, but I'm not much for either.

I want to start this review by saying that my wife and I have celebrated several special occasions at this M&S location, mainly because it's a fairly nice place that's never crowded because it's in Tysons. With that being said, I don't think that we will be back. We went last night (Valentine's Day) and it was terrible. I have been in the food and beverage business for over a decade so I tend to be a little more understanding than most people, but the lack of attention and service was inexcusable. The food is the only reason that I gave two stars. The dining room was not all that busy and the bar was less than half full when we arrived. We were seated immediately, but not greeted by a server (or anyone else) for 12 minutes...even though our server had asked the table next to us if they wanted a desert menu that he then delivered to them minutes later, still not acknowledging us. Eventually, he came back to us, never stating his name, and asked if he could get us drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine and a dozen oysters. The wine was delivered approximately 10 minutes later, with the oysters arriving at least 5 minutes after that. When the wine was delivered, we had placed our dinner order. The oysters were great, as was the wine. Dinner was delivered within a decent amount of time and both dishes looked amazing. My wife decided on the Palm Beach Mahi Mahi and I chose the Chef Special of steak and lobster tail. My wife's dish was very tasty and I enjoyed mine, even though the lobster was overdone. Although we enjoyed our dishes, no one ever came by to check on whether or not we were enjoying our meals. This is Service 101! Eventually, our server came back to ask if we would like desert. We had decided that we would like the apple pie and I ordered a Basil Hayden on the rocks. After 5 minutes or so, the server came back with a cocktail menu, showing me a picture of some muddled cocktail and said "sir, this is the only drink we have with basil in it", to which I replied "Basil Hayden bourbon. Our desert was delivered not long after and we had nearly finished it before the bourbon was delivered, vey watered down from sitting on the service bar. After we had finished, we paid the bill and left. We had to walk through the service line of the kitchen to exit and no one said "hello", "thank you", etc. We also had to walk through the bar, which was mostly empty (the entire place had pretty much cleared out during the 2 hours that we were there), but there were a couple of bartenders and a person who appeared to be a manager. Again, no one said anything to us. I bring this up to state that for the money spent, which was a few dollars shy of $200, the service is completely inadequate. I don't mind spending money for great food and experiences, but I will not be doing so at this location again. They missed on so many service basics that it shows a total lack of dedication to service, starting from management and trickling down. On what is the second biggest night of the year for restaurants, there was no management presence on the floor to do table visits and lack of training to the staff was painfully obvious. There are plenty of other dining options that provide a much more heightened level and understanding of service at a similar cost, and they will be getting my business from here on.

Went here for Happy Hour on a Monday night and it was pretty dead. The happy hour is extended from 4-9PM everyday, which isn't too bad. They had the usual drink specials with beers and special martinis ranging from ~$4-7. My friend sipped on mojitos and said it was so-so. The happy hour menu for food was decent though, but nothing spectacular. The food items were served tapas-style and we got several items: the oyster shooters, the mussels, the fish tacos, the cheeseburger, and the calamari. The oyster shooters were good, but more than half of the shooter consisted of horseradish, so meh... The mussels were good. You actually get a decent amount and was served in this slightly spicy broth. I'd have to say the mussels were my favorite. The fish tacos were alright. I was expecting a little bit more, but it was pretty much small chunks of breaded fillets and a ton of lettuce -- not so much of any fish in there. The sauce they served with it though was delicious! It was like the sauce they give you at Peruvian chicken places which is the mayo-like sauce with chopped up jalapenos... Mmm. The cheeseburger was served with fries and wasn't anything special nor was the calamari. Still, not a horribly bad place if you want to chit-chat with friends over a few drinks and cheap mini plates. Just don't expect great food because of it's location and because it's a "seafood" restaurant. Anyways, great service -- our server was nice and attentive, chill atmosphere sitting by the bar, but I don't have any desire to come back or try their regular food for dinner.

BELIEVE YELP!!! Meh. I've experienced better at almost any chain. We went there Mothers Day in spite of the questionable reviews. Given the Reston store is Yelp rated worse I would not dare drive thru that neighborhood. BUT I had a $100 gift card to use and it took all of that and more. The front of the house was pretty empty - odd for a big day at 1 PM but we found out why. Then in our back room they had 3 servers for 4 tables of couples. Our waitress appeared and took our wine orders and I said we were relaxing and not in any rush. She must taken that to heart since it was nearly 20 minutes to get two glasses of pinot grigio. Then when I asked about the flounder on the menu the waitress did not even know it was on the menu (not a Mothers Day special). Another inordinate wait for water and within our lifetime some food appeared - we were starving by then. All the appetizers took a while but we were in no rush, but within 3 minutes of the time the appetizers arrived the young man was delivering the entrees and I pointed out had we just started our appetizers barely a bite and there was no room on the table for the dishes. After we ate our appetizers then finally the waitress appeared well after and brought our main dishes - warming 30 minutes somewhere no doubt. The appetizers were good but I cannot even remember what they were so not memorable. Her seared scallops main course were fine and my "almond encrusted flounder" was completely tasteless and no sign of any almonds or lemon butter - probably overdried on long warming. Plenty of lemon and salt gave ti some life - both normally forbidden by me to not spoil the chef's intent. Could not even get a second glass of wine. After forever the waitress appeared to ask about coffee or dessert and having spent just under 2 hours I paid and we bolted for the door to another dessert alternative.

This is a review for the dinner menu, NOT the HH! Came here about a month ago for dinner and was surprised at the quality of the dinner menu food since I had come here several times for HH and always enjoyed everything I ordered. My friend and I were seated in one of the rooms (with curtains) right in front of the kitchen. It was very loud from the clanking of the pots and pans and I dont believe you can close the curtains. Our waiter was not very helpful when we asked him some questions regarding some items on the menu. We had requested plain steamed shrimpi as opposed to the cold shrimp that was offered on the appetizer menu. He said that they only offered the cold shrimp. Usually, in a restaurant like this, the chef would be able to accomodate our order especially an order as simple as steamed shrimp. We did not argue so we went with the Main Crab soup as recommended by our waiter for our starter. The soup tasted like tomatoe soup out of the can with frozen vegetables and a little bit of crab on top. There was so much frozen vegetables in the soup that it kind of took over and I could barely taste the crab. They should definately rename the soup or at least indicate that it is tomato based with frozen veggies instead of advertising it as "Maine crab soup" on the menu with no other description. I also ordered the Mahi Mahi fish. The fish was tender but I did not particularly enjoy the potato hash on the bottom and the mustard/honeydijon/creamy tasting sauce that was drizzled over the fish and potatoe hash. It wasn't bad but for the price, I expected something more! My friend also ordered the crab cake which he loved. I'm not surprised since i've noticed the crab cakes have always been solid everytime I ordered it! I would come back for the HH menu but not the dinner menu.

Visited the restaurant during happy hour and restaurant wasn't very full. My daughter, my sister and I sat down and for at least 15min nobody acknowledged us. A waiter clocked in and came over to serve us. My daughter still wanted to have a conversation with the manager just to let him know our experience and I guess he noted it. At the end of our drinks and our meal we asked the waiter to split the check so the bill was $57 and some change. Two of us paid by credit card and the last $22.84 was paid by cash. The server was given a $50 bill to cover the $22.84 however he never returned with the change. Finally I asked the server about the change and he said "oh I didn't know you wanted any change back". SMH!!! It gets better instead of bringing the change he brings what he said was $50 in change to pay the remaining balance however it was only $49.85, confused we requested the manager and explained to him and he brushed it off. He said let me get you the $.15 we owe you, we said forget it and let's just pay the bill geesh!!!

The freshest thing on the plate were the green beans. I had the grilled Lane Snapper from the Fresh Fish menu. It was dry and tough (I needed to cut it with a knife -- not exactly "flaky") and needed all the butter sauce accompanying it to give it flavor. The mashed potatoes were gritty and cold, but the beans were good. This place would get 5 stars if I was a vegetarian who hated potatoes. Since the restaurant has no parking spaces, they offer complimentary valet parking. The finale was waiting in 23 degree cold for the one valet to bring the car. One valet. One. On a Saturday night at 7:00 PM. Never again.

My wife and I went to M&S McLean after a 3 year absence. We should not have bothered. The experience was abysmal! We sat at the bar area as they were 'fully committed'. It took 10 minutes for someone to show up. She tried but there was something missing! I think it's called customer service! Ordered the blackened swordfish! Quite awful! Over salted and not the good quality piece of fish I expected. Did not bother with dessert or a bottle of wine. Could not wait to get out of there. Do not understand because the location in DC is a whole lot better. Oh well, back to Legal Sea Foods!

Figured I'd delete my old reviews and write a new summary now that I've been there about 500 more times. They can do to-go orders and I definitely take advantage of that since I work in the building. I love all their salads, the crab cakes, the crab soup, and the bread. They have cheap and delicious HH deals including both food and drinks. This Mclean location is 100x better than the Reston location with regards to: 1) service 2) food (taste) 3) happy hour offerings (and quality) Garage parking will run you between $2 (1 hr) - $6 (max)

It's a little awkward location-wise. When you park in the garage and come up the elevator, you come in the back side of the bar. Nowhere near the hostess stand, which was okay with us cuz we were going to sit at the bar anyways. We ordered the Sante Fe Shrimp salad and the American Kobe Hamburger. The salad was very light but filling and my husband said the burger was very juicy. It came with house potato chips which I kept stealing off his plate (they're so yummy!!) My husband got a cucumber mint martini and I had a strawberry basil smash. Both are highly recommended - very refreshing!

Extremely disappointed. Sadly, this is my first review on yelp and a negative. Although it had been some time since my last visit, I was not expecting my experience to plunge so dramatically. My first guess is that they are currently under new management, however this should not jeopardize the experience. My utensils were as though they had not been washed(ever), which immediately set in the yuck. Our first server lacked in attentiveness. The food was below average at best(don't order the mussels). We ended in ordering the flourless cake in hopes of lightening things up; what a mistake, it was completely frozen! As my friend put it, "we would have had a better chance breaking the plate before we would cutting into the cake". After sharing this with the manager, he was kind enough to remove "what we didn't eat". Oh, thanks! total thumbs down across the board. I love those lemon drop martinis though so next time I'll stick to HH drinks only.

Went here on a Saturday around 8pm for dinner since we had a gift card. I have previously eaten at the DC location for lunches years ago. Valet parking was nice. It was around 3/4th's full but did slowly empty out as the night wore on. Our service was good, no issues. We ordered the pan seared Sea Bass and the seared Scallops and were pleased with both entrees, both were delicious and everything was cooked properly. Price wise it's a little on the higher side for what you get, however I was happy with my meal and the size of the fish. I believe there were 6 scallops served, all had a nice sear. Overall it was an enjoyable dinner.

This is my 4th visit in several years, and it is consistently disappointing. If M&S are trying to compete I the upscale seafood and steak style restaurants, they really need to reconsider their business plan. Went for a office holiday dinner...was very sad when I was told we were going to M&S. I ordered the crab cakes and I swear these things had zero taste. The reason for the 1 star, the arugula salad and the Heath bar brownie desert. But as far as the crab cakes, I make much better at home. The food service was awful....they have no sense of timing when it comes to bring food out...I really think it was 45 min from appetizer to salads...and then another 20 min before the main meal. But the worst part...the cost...how many way can you say RIP OFF! But the cherry on top of all this was the server reviewing the check to see how much of a tip he received....in front of all of us. It's there buddy....despite my hungry stomach and feeling of being taken.

Been there twice, and NEVER again. Both times, TOO MUCH BUTTER AND SALT. After we had an insanely salty bowl of clam chowder removed from our table, the manager came out and apologized stating that the kitchen was going to make a new pot... They brought out complementary she-crab soup, which was also salty but basically hot soup with some cold crab meat stirred in. Then, they brought out the wrong order for my entree... So I sat for fifteen minutes and then the waiter brought out a complementary caesar salad. I unfortunately could only eat a few bits of it because it was drenched in dressing. When I finally got the Shrimp Trilogy, the scampi was covered in mushy, buttery and undercooked bread crumbs. And similar to the Fried Shrimp platter, all of the shrimp in the Shrimp Trilogy were uncleaned... i.e. the poop was still lined along the back of the shrimps. Last but not least, a customer should not have to ask for bread and water. I don't think prisoners even have to ask when they are in jail... FOOD: YUCK SERVICE: NICE EFFORT TO REDEEM YOURSELVES, BUT NONETHELESS POOR PRICE: OVERPRICED FOR THE QUALITY OF FOOD AND EXPERIENCE *Another business that contributes to heart disease and obesity in the US...

My husband and I are visiting our of state. We arrived early for our reservations so sat at the bar while waiting. We were greeted by both bartenders Dan and Linda and they made our dining experience fun. By the time we were to be seated for dinner we decided to stay and eat at the bar. Great ambience and service. We will definitely go back before we end our trip.
