Healthy Meal suggestions for Cracker Barrel

my sister and I stopped in for lunch this afternoon, and it was an absolute delight. Michael, our sweetheart of a server, took perfect care of us. the dining room was quite busy, yet our orders arrived in less than ten minutes. with four selections from a diverse list of homemade sides, the vegetable platter was an excellent option for us comfort food-loving vegetarians. at the conclusion of our meal, Michael kindly brought us raspberry iced tea refills in to-go cups, making our re-entry into an 88 degree afternoon feel far less daunting. as we ventured toward the checkout, a lovely woman named Sharon helped us in the gift shop. we chatted with her about babies as I happily purchased $60 worth of tiny cowboy outfits. while continuing to enjoy our cool drinks on the way home, we decided a thank you note was in order. so thank you, Cracker Barrel of Manassas, and God bless you.

More like 3.5 Pro: Unique experience with the shop inside; Service is awwwwwmazing!; Prices are crazy good!; (Idk if this is a pro or con) but that peg game drives me crazy; 2 words...biscuit and cornbread :P ; Con: Food quality is probably 3.5(doesnt feel super fresh); Although its classic country dinner, i wish it was super hot when it comes out; Portions are meh at best(i could probably kill 2 entrees); Overall: its good but much room for improvement; Average quality in food, above average in service, id go when i crave a country fried steak or meatloaf :P

Ok, we frequent cracker barrel in front royal and we've never had a bad experience there. This morning a friend and I decided to take our daughters to breakfast. Our server was a very nice soft spoken young man wearing a "rising star" logo on his uniform. He was very kind, but he kept botching our order. It started with the drinks, we ordered two kids Orange juices, one chocolate milk, two coffees, and an ice water. He repeated the order, then forgot the juices. Then I noticed he also forgot the water. My daughters wanted strawberries and cream French toast and the price of the item alone was one dollar less than a meal with an additional order of eggs and bacon. I opted for the meals because they're a dollar more. My friend and I ordered samplers, mine with a substitution of sausage instead of ham, clarifying that I don't like ham. My youngest ordered one pancake and bacon from the kids menu. Our food came and the server named some meal we didn't order and received blank stares. The food disappeared. No biggie. Then the food came again. The French toast meals were missing the bacon. He said, "you ordered a side of eggs." I didn't. It's illogical. After my friend and I received our meals, we asked for biscuits. They're usually served with the meal. I had to ask again later and by the time they arrived our food was cold. Oh, and he botched my sampler and didn't bring me bacon. Our total was around sixty dollars, and in my brain I'm thinking he didn't ring our order in correctly, because at 8 bucks a meal for 4 people is 32 dollars, and I hope drinks aren't 5 bucks a piece. I feel a little cheated by neglect.

We've been to Cracker Barrel before, usually when traveling and they've generally been great, especially for the price. However, the visit to the Manassas CB last week was less than impressive and we won't go back to that one again. The country fried steak was small and unusually dry. The cooked broccoli was not uniformly heated, perhaps cooked in a microwave. The biscuits and corn muffins were all dry. The service was okay, but notably less inviting than any other CB we've visited in the past.

Gotta love the Cracker Barrel. Came here for dinner and we had a great time. Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable. There was some mix up with our side dishes in the kitchen but she did a great job reorganizing everything. She was incredibly professional. Our drinks were constantly refilled and she brought us plenty of corn bread and biscuits. I'm a big fan of the Cracker Barrel in Kentucky, but this location is good too. It's one of the closer ones to home and gets the job done. Your Cracker Barrel cravings will be filled.

Visiting my mom in Virginia this week. She invited us to breakfast here today. We were seated instantly. The decor here is country mixed with antique american memorabilia. Beautiful establishment. Unique. Food was delicious. I had biscuits, eggs, bacon, sausage & hash browns. The biscuits were the best ever, I added some of their home made apple butter. Some of us had pancakes which were also unique & tasty. The syrup comes in individual glass bottles that they warm up. Really tasted better like that. The waitress Patty was a gem. So nice and lovable. She made a good experience, great, she was so funny. On a side note they have a store with lots of nice decorations & knick knacks. We had a nice time. I Would recommend checking it out.

Came here for breakfast yesterday with some of our friends since they recommended it. This place was packed on a Sunday at 9:30am! The wait wasn't too bad (about 15 min), but you can browse the store while you wait. The store is fairly decently sized so it can occupy a lot of your time. When your table is ready, they will call you on the intercom. The food is VERY well priced. I got the country fried steak meal and it was only about $8 and some change. Very reasonable. Also you get biscuits with your meal and we asked for some apple butter to be included. The biscuits are so moist and delicious. Now we understand why this place was packed! We will be coming back here again sometime for breakfast and maybe even lunch/dinner.

You know what? I *LIKE* the food at Cracker Barrel. It's hardy stuff at a cheap price, and really does a good breakfast. What's not to like there? My gripe is that I went with the family, and I saw our waitress twice. Someone else brought salads - and forgot mine. When a DIFFERENT person brought out meals, I had to ask for a salad, and we noticed they forgot different parts of the order, and gave us extra stuff we didn't ask for. After they left, we realized no one brought ketchup. Then someone else brought salad dressing they forgot, and dropped it on the floor. Then someone else came to clean it up 15 minutes later, after people had walked through it. Then I had to ask for biscuits that we never got, then after that, had to ask for extra napkins we never got. Our waitress (starts with a K) came by to ask if we wanted more drinks or dessert. Someone else at our table asked for more tea, and she spilled and sloshed it on the table. I was incredibly thirsty, but didn't want tea in my lap, and declined. When I went to pay, I told the cashier the service sucked. Cashier: Do you want to speak to a manager? Me: ... no, I just want to get out of here. Shitty shitty waitress, I regret giving you even 50 cents' tip.

Mrs. Helen is our waitress. She's a southern belle for sure and much patience. This a.m. Is starting off wonderful! I ordered the mama French toast breakfast. Something simple with sausage patties. I can't say I smell food cooking which is what I expect when I go out, but the coffee is good.... Lol. Ok then not much to report about breakfast.

***Actually, it's somewhere in between A-OK and Yay! I'm a fan! *** ----------------------- If you go to Cracker Barrel with reasonable expectations, then you won't be disappointed. For a chain restaurant that can be found near interstate interchanges, it tends to be reliable when it comes to decent, inexpensive food. Back in the 90s, we took several cross country road trips. This was way before Yelp so we had to rely on AAA guidebooks and Jane and Michael Stern's "Roadfood" when it came time to find places for dinner. If neither source produced anything when it came time to look for dinner, we always knew that Cracker Barrel would give us a decent meal. We hadn't been to a Cracker Barrel in something like 10 years. Since we were planning to be in Manassas this day, we looked at our meal options and my husband suggested paying a visit here for dinner. We got here around 5 p.m. on a Saturday. At that time, there were still several available tables for dinner. We were given a table by a window---not that there was anything worth seeing outside. Service was excellent. The hostess was friendly if a bit eccentric. Our server, Jocelyn, was friendly and efficient. We didn't have to wait too long for her to get to our table. When she arrived, we both knew what we would be having. I ordered the spicy grilled catfish. For my 3 sides, I chose green beans, fried okra and hashbrown casserole. My husband chose meatloaf and for his sides he got mashed potatoes with gravy, corn and green beans. I had a lemonade to drink while my husband had a Stewart's root beer. The catfish was very well prepared. The spicy topping was evenly distributed and the fish was tender and flaky. As usual, the fried okra was tasty---not overly breaded, the green beans had good flavor and the hashbrown casserole was good ---- not the best hashbrowns I've ever had but decent nonetheless. My husband liked the meatloaf. He noticed that there were no onions in it but green peppers instead. The one thing that disappointed him --- the mashed potatoes and gravy weren't as hot as they could have been. We did notice that the servers didn't have any runners helping them out. So, perhaps, the food sat a bit before our server could get to it. All this cost $24 + change before the tip. At that price, we couldn't complain as we got a decent, filling meal. I like browsing in their store and usually end up buying a few things that I normally don't see in other stores. Cracker Barrel is smart to have a store along with the restaurant as it does bring in some extra revenue from those of us doing a bit of impulse shopping.

Ive been coming here for 4 years now. Tried most of their breakfast food and the best one is their big boy breakfast. Your cant beat all that food for only $10. Never had a bad experience with waiters or food. Great place for families.

This is a great Cracker Barrel. Everyone's always friendly and good service. Good ol' comfort food. Not much to else to say about the food. I do get free charging at the electrician school down the road and then walk here (a few minutes literally).

Just what the Dr. Ordered for a great Easter dinner. My son and I were looking for a nice place for an Easter dinner and out of the blue he suggested Cracker Barrel. We both ordered a traditional dinner and the service was phenomenal! Our waitress did a superb job making sure that we had everything we needed and I appreciated how the manager came over to make sure that we were enjoying our meal. I wish they had a location in Lorton, but we will take the drive back on the next special occasion. We even got to visit the battlefield after dinner.

Not the best Cracker Barrel, but it is the closest to the DC Metro area going east-west and is generally okay, but when they're off they're really off. I've started to try to come only after the dinner rush and the service is typically pretty good, however the kitchen is inconsistent. Sometimes things you ordered are missing or not prepared as you requested. That said, the servers always make good on it so I'm willing to give them some grace.

We came here on a Saturday after a full day at the Shenandoah National Park. We love their country fried steak and chicken and dumplings. This place has the similar feel and look as other Cracker Barrel. Their staff is great and friendly. We saw big groups of people ahead of us but that didn't affect our order, ie. they're efficient.

Came in last night with a group of 5 and received horrible, horrible, service. Our waiter was Drake, and you could tell he didn't want to be there or serving us. I think he was too worked up about working on St. Patty's weekend. It took about 15 minutes before he even asked us for our drink order. It took another 20 - 25 minutes for our drinks to finally arrive at the table. We complained to his face and to the manager. After that, he was more attentive. Food was mediocre. Not impressed at all with this Cracker Barrel or the service. I would never come back here by choice.

Love it. Need I say more? Seriously though, if you're a vegan, even the salads have meat on them...sooooo maybe go somewhere else. Otherwise, you can find something to eat here that is good and tasty and meant to be enjoyed with friends and family.

It's a shame, but my rating of Cracker Barrel is really based off my only eating one dish from here. Ever. The chicken fried steak. I know it sounds lame, but something about this dish makes me dance while eating. I can't explain it so I won't even try. However, a friend recently dared me to try their Cobb Salad. I wasn't impressed and of course I was upset that I wasted my CB trip on a salad. Moral of the story: Do not try new things. Stick with what you know. Aside from the steak, I love all the old fashioned candy that instantly takes me back to my childhood. It's impossible for me walk out there without, at least, a bag of candy sticks. Yes, I keep my dentist in business!! This place has become a fan favorite to most because breakfast is served all day. And as a word of caution, their corn muffin has no sugar so please do not bite in it expecting to taste flavor. You have been warned.

This location is "sometimey" .. sometimes the service is great , sometimes the food is hot .. but too often a plate of cold food is brought out, or the waitress takes her bad morning out on you .. & what happened to cracker barrel's Apple butter it's all store bought now , does any location still have the home made ??

Is there anything to dislike about cracker barrel. It's a fun chain and has a great theme. I always feel like I'm transported back in time when I visit one of these. I had the open faced roast beef sandwich at this location and it was amazing ! It had a huge helping of mashed potatoes and gravy on top and it was exactly what I needed to brace myself for a long road trip. I highly recommend stopping into these when you're on the road and don't want to eat at the usual fast food chains

Oh Cracker Barrel how I love thee! Great southern meals for virtually nothing. I do love that they've managed to keep their prices down over the years. Their "healthy" menu is also pretty good. Hard to turn down the mac & cheese, but they definitely give you reasonable options that don't make you feel like you're getting ripped off by trying to watch what you're eating. You can't go wrong with anything on their breakfast menu & their steak is pretty good on the lunch/dinner menu. Can't wait to come back!

Had a group of 10 family members meet here on a Sunday for breakfast to celebrate a couple of birthdays. Surprisingly at 10 am we were seated very quickly. The food was excellent as usual and I have nothing to add that others have not already posted. I wanted to bring up two points. I appreciate the effort to introduce some tasty, filling, and healthy options. I had the Good Morning Breakfast which included scrambled eggbeaters, 3 slices of turkey bacon, sliced tomatoes, a fruit cup, and a small bowl of grits for less than 400 calories. I left completely satisfied and full but not stuffed. Additionally, when gathering as such a large group we have come to expect a few messed up orders or missing side dishes. We just appreciate it if the servers respond without a bad attitude and get it fixed. That was the case this time. Amelia and Patty were the best at quickly fixing the issues that we had and we had no complaints. We thought that was the end of it but they had the manager come over and tell us that the two meals that had the most issues were going to be comped. We will definitely be back and really appreciate the effort from both the servers and the manager to keep us a customers.

Go for the country fried steak! Their mac 'n cheese is also good and perfect as a side dish. Food is not too expensive and you can stop by their little gift shop before you leave; they have lots of knick knacks you can check out.

Grew up in the south and this place brings me back. From the cafeteria plates to the cheap fare presented on a strictly no liquor menu, I'm almost reminded of lunch served in my elementary school days back in Texas. This is by no means an insult. I loved my cafeteria food, and I long to eat that same country fried steak with the abandon that I felt so long ago as a kid. When I'm at cracker barrel it almost tastes like home. What's good - Blueberry pancakes Country fried steak I wouldnt come here expecting five star food, but don't doubt. You will find great prices, good food and good services.

So after having healthy meals for the two previous days, what does someone do? He suggests breakfast at CB before my flight to MSP. Ugh. I secretly love the food here, so I could only get mad at him for a hot second. I was worried that we'd have a hard time finding parking, but alas, this was a snap. Getting a table wasn't so bad either; I think we waited something like 10-15 minutes. I ordered the Smokehouse Breakfast and some coffee. My meal came with eggs over medium, grits, sausage gravy, turkey sausage patties, the super unhealthy but oh, so god damned good buttermilk biscuits and preserves. I only ate one of those, but I'd be lying like Pinocchio if I said I didn't want to eat them all. It's bad as hell for you, but there's something so comforting about their breakfasts....so filling and so tasty!

"Redneck hotspot with delicious, calorie-packed Southern comfort food" Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Parking: 5/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Oh Cracker Barrel, my secret love...of course most Northern Virginia yuppies would prefer to hide their face behind their Harvard degree and scoff at the Southern cuisine and clientele when asked to have breakfast at such a place and, looking at the average customer everyday (any day), I think I've pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one. Food here is absolutely delicious, just about every item. Of course, this is due probably entirely to the fact that it represents the cuisine of Dixie - Southern comfort food with it's base ingredients being butter, fat, salt, sugar, and more butter just for fun. Fluffy buttermilk biscuits, sweet cinnamon fried apples, perfectly cooked eggs, grits, and of course, their nationally famous and beloved hash brown casserole - any trip to cracker barrel requires hash brown casserole. Period. Otherwise, Flawless, consistent, and spectacular display of Paula Deen style cooking. The décor here reflects, just like the food, the aged and conservative feel of the South with old advertisements, antiques, vintage signs, just "good ol' boy" items galore. As mentioned before, the clientele is consistently "Southern" - you won't catch too many fashionistas, hipsters, or progressive hippies....on the contrary, bring your trucker hat to fit into the plainly-dressed, makeup-lacking, Church-going, XXL shirt-wearing Southern crowd here as the average BMI here is likely larger than the number of biscuits cooked each day. Not an insult to anyone in this diverse country, just a light commentary. Parking is abundant and seating fills up quickly so I advise you arrive early. I recommend this comfort food hot spot to any hungry yelper.

I came in for breakfast. It was crowded as expected. After a 15 minute wait we were seated. But the wait wasn't bad thanks to some pleasant conversation with an older employee named Kevin. He was absolutely wonderful and friendly. The food was great (blueberry pancakes are awesome). The entire experience was made extra special thanks to Kevin though. He greeted us as we left and was just super sweet. The pricing is super reasonable. Definitely a great breakfast spot.

One of the easier ones to get to (if you've ever been to Cracker Barrel, you know what I mean.) Food is always amazing, quick to come out and quite affordable. Even when the place has a wait, it's usually not long, and certainly worth it.

Alright, I'll admit it - although I never thought I would - I'm converted. Went here two weeks ago Sunday, and had the most amazing fried chicken I've ever paid less than $10 for. Boyfriend wanted some of mine because it was so good, and I told him to get his own. I think I may have leaned over my plate and growled like a hungry dog, too. Amazing. I get it now. Yay for Cracker Barrel (although I still find the store in front weird and a cash-grab, and for that I dock one star).

My review of Cracker Barrel is a combination of my boyfriend's past experiences and my first experience....which came out to 3 stars. I've passed by Cracker Barrel many times on many road trips with my family, but for one reason or another, we never stopped in. My curiosity plus my boyfriend sharing that this was one of his family's favorite places growing up (still is), I made it a goal to eat at a Cracker Barrel. Thus our visit to this Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel is a charming and decently sized restaurant with a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. They have a store, which is the first thing you see when you walk in. It provides guests with something to do if you need to wait for a table. They also have plenty of rocking chairs around a large porch which I thought was a homey touch. On this visit, we did not have to wait for a table and were seated immediately. We were given 2 menus: lunch/dinner and breakfast, which my boyfriend says they serve all day. With so many options, there is probably something for everyone. I ordered the chicken and dumplings with broccoli and mac n cheese. My boyfriend ordered french toast, biscuits and gravy, and bacon. My boyfriend inhaled his food; being that it was one of his favorites, he said this time was no different and I would agree. His food was pretty tasty. Unfortunately, my food was just ok. The chicken and dumplings came out lukewarm. I wasn't expecting it to be piping hot...just warmer than what I got. Fortunately the corn muffins we ordered redeemed the meal in my eyes. Hot and fresh from the oven. I can attest to this because I saw the steam rise from the muffins. Service was decent overall. The food comes in decent sized portions and is very affordable. Not bad overall. I think I will come back again, but I might just stick to breakfast.

Really good place to eat breakfast or to get some down home southern food. They put their gravy on everything! :D I got the chicken fried chicken with gravy on it. It was awesome! Their fried apple are fresh made too. Yeah, your stomach may make you pay for the indulgence, but it's worth it!

Never been here before so decided to try it out on a Saturday around noon. A short wait, about 5 minutes. The service was fantastic, despite it being packed our server was there right away to take our drink orders. I wanted breakfast food, so I got the mama's french toast with the bacon and scrambled eggs. My friend got the same thing and my boyfriend got the pancakes and country ham. The food came out pretty quick and it was oh so good. The french toast was not overdone to the point of it being soggy as many other places tend to do. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon was crisp. It was also a generous portion of bacon. My boyfriends pancakes were so fluffy and delicious as well. They really know how to make breakfast food! I'll definitely be back. Restaurants making good breakfast food are hard to come by. Plus, compared to other places I found their breakfast items to be a real deal on the pocketbook too.

Came here with the family and some friends and had a nice meal. I myself am a fan of Cracker Barrel to begin with and this location did not disappoint. I ordered a half and half (iced tea and lemonade) to start followed by the Chicken Fried Chicken. I love that stuff and it was delicious as always. My wife's pot roast meal was on point as well. She gets upset that they only serve one piece of pot roast now when they served two pieces back in the day. Delicious either way. My daughter had the chicken and dumplings (I think they are awful) and she loves them. My sons burger was good to go and all the fixens that came with our meals were delicious. The only problem we had was food not coming out together. I was half done with my meal before our buddies daughter received her meal. That aside, our server was nice and the food was yummy.

I don't see what's so great about this place. There too many people and the wait time is too long. The set up of the table isn't good either. The tables that are placed near the shop area. It gets too noise and it's near the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom. It isn't clean either. Food is ok. You can make it at home. Nothing special about it. No signature food.

Completely hit or miss. Probably the best way to sum up the food here at CB. I've been numerous times to this location and others while traveling, and there is ZERO consistency with the food that you get. One thing that is consistent is the prices. Place is dirt cheap.

The portions have shrunk since the last time i ate here. The food still tastes good though. What i like is being able to browse all the gifts and whatnot in the little store while we wait to be seated (i come here with family. Usually a large party pf 6 or more) inevitably i usually buy something to add to my collection of 'things i don't need but were too awesome to leave at the store' Loving how the sodas are served in a chilled mug. Very nostalgic, cozy feel. Often crowded. Often noisy. Escape may be possible by sitting outside in the rocking chairs if theres some empty. Don't forget to play a game of huge checkers!

  • Sam Y.

This is one of my all-time favorite places to go for breakfast foods. I know they offer other items on their menu (I've heard the meatloaf and chicken and dumplings are awesome), but I come here strictly for breakfast. I've tried almost everything, but my absolute favorite things to get are the hash browns and biscuits and gravy. They are soooooo good! My boyfriend says the blueberry pancakes are delicious as well. Make sure to ask for apple butter for your biscuits also, yum! The portions here are huge and it is not very expensive for how much food you get. If you come on a weekend, especially Sundays, prepare for a long wait. There are plenty of things to do while you wait though. The front of the restaurant is set up like a general store, so there are tons of things to look at. There are also rocking chairs set up all along the outside so you can just relax or play some checkers. This is a little far from where I live, but it's probably the only Cracker Barrel I've seen in the Northern Virgina area so far. It's definitely worth the drive. The food, service and atmosphere are always great!

Coming in on a Sunday morning with a group of nine, I wasn't terribly surprised to hear that there would be a 55-minute wait for a table. We decided to stick it out, and were pleasantly surprised when our table was called after a mere 20 minutes, during which time we enjoyed browsing at the cute but insanely crowded country store. They had a very pleasant lady giving samples of one of their old-timey sodas, which was a nice little diversion from the wait. That was about where the 'pleasant' aspect of the meal ended. The dining room was unbelievably noisy, which possibly contributed to our waiter's confusion and put-upon attitude. We were a big group, so I know I should give him some slack, but I don't entirely understand why he split our food on to two tickets (evenly... so one person had half his food on one, half on another...). He said something that didn't make much sense to me about this somehow making things faster. It may have made things faster, but in this case, getting all our food at the same time, correct, and hot would have been preferable to fast, separately, confusing and wrong. When we asked about the various items missing/on the wrong plate/ etc, the waiter sighed and grumbled at us as if we were just trying to make his life difficult. He didn't seem inclined to listen to what we were saying about who ordered what, which probably slowed things down further. However, we did eventually get the order right, or close enough. For an example of what I mean by confusing, for some reason the biscuits and gravy for two of the meals were served family style on one big plate, and another person was served his individually. The cornbread for someone at the extreme other end of the table was on the same plate as the grits for my meal. I asked for apple butter (which is amazing) and got an order of stewed apples instead, which I assumed was for someone else's order and never ended up getting eaten. The waiter came by and noticed that 4 drinks were empty, brought 3 refills and vanished, etc. Despite some pretty substantial complaints about the service and organization, the food was tasty and cheap. And yes, it was pretty fast if you don't count the amount of time we spent trying to sort everyone's food out. The apple butter and biscuits were my favorite part of the meal, and the french toast looked great. I might try it next time I'm at a cracker barrel. It probably won't be this particular location at a peak time, though. You should probably avoid this place if you don't like a 'lively' (read: rock concert volume) atmosphere.

Writing this sucks because I love me some Cracker Barrel. Love it enough that we decided to have two nights in a row... and both nights things were messed up. Having worked in the restaurant world, I do understand how annoying somewhat complicated orders can be, and I also understand the stress of having to cater to multiple people at once. With that being said, I should not made to feel as if I am being an inconvenience by ordering food... in a restaurant. The first night the service was acceptable, but they did forget 2 sides, which we made sure to reiterate about when ordering. The next night, the hostess was very rude. After asking politely to place an order to go, I then asked for a menu and she proceeded to walk away for 5ish minutes. Once she reappeared, the manager then came over to take my order. Let me just say, that was the sweetest man. He reread it back to me multiple times so make sure it was correct. Flash forward a bit, lady goes crazy at register to the poor girl that is actually doing her job and trying to ring her up (bless her heart). By the time I get to the front the register is acting up (technology sucks sometimes so I get that). After waiting 15 more minutes, the rude hostess comes back with a bag with only salads in it. She hands it to me and walks away, and I proceed to walk after her to let her know our platters (the actual food) is missing. She tells me I'm wrong and that's not what the order says, which then leads me to showing her the receipt and that I am missing food. After one solid eye roll later from her, she walks into the kitchen. 5 minutes later another lady appears with my food, roughly hands it to me and walks away. At that point I'm annoyed. I go to double check the bag, see the same 2 sides are missing again. At this point there was no point in even saying anything to anyone because I felt uncomfortable. Food was amazing as always, the service from the hostess/waiter was horrible.

Well don't come to this Cracker Barrel at 10:30 pm even though closing time is 11:00 pm. All the restaurant staff ran to their hiding places when we came to get a seat. After waiting 5 minutes with no one welcoming us to be seated, I looked at the single cashier who turned her head as well when asked if they were still serving. Did I mention she was holding a conversation with 2 other employees? One of them clumsily stated that he didn't know we were waiting to be seated so he grabbed 2 menus and sat us in the dining room. He did not welcome us nor apologize for the oversight in not seating us. You know how you just feel like you have infringed upon the employees' night by coming in late and everyone is ready to go home and now they have to stop and serve you at the last minute?? I got that feeling..... So we left hungry and disappointed in the lack of friendliness here. No one tried to stop us from leaving.

Cracker Barrel is the shiznit. We finally got around to trying this location when our favorite italian place had a crazy long wait and we only had an hour until our movie started. Sat fairly quickly and wasn't ignored by anyone even though we were in the back corner. I got the chicken tenders and Mac and cheese while hubs got the something and grits (ew) but he said it was good. The only annoying thing was that we didn't have any ketchup at are table and when we asked someone servicing the table next to ours, they said they would get us some and never did. So we had to ask the table across from us and got a bunch of shit about it. Finally paid and then I went around and got some movie candy, which Cracker Barrel candy is fantastic.

I normally love to eat at this place when I travel which is why I decided to take my husband. This was my husband's first time and I thought he would love it, but I was wrong. When we walked in there was no one to greet us at the hostess stand. My husband ordered the ribeye which was dry and had no flavor. He also brought to my attention that the vegetables look like they came out of a can. I decided to test his theory and asked the waitress where the vegetables came from and she confirmed that they were canned vegetables. Also, the service was bad, seeing that we had to hunt the waitress down for a fork and hot sauce after they dropped the entrees; he found the waitresses conversing at the hostess stand. They also never checked on us after they dropped the food and in the end my husband ended up getting food poisoning. He was sick for three days. Needless to say this is no longer my favorite restaurant for travel, maybe i'll just do IHOP.

I can't believe we ate here. I usually don't like redneck food, but I had a craving for American food after we had gone to Skyline Drive. Uh, this place gives extremely small portions and the Saturday special of roast beef was 2 small slices. It wasn't enough for me so I don't know how it could be enough for man. The food was ok, but they really need to give huge portions and more cornbread or more of the sides. Waste of money, and not as tasty as ethnic foods In general. I would rather eat a Big Mac extra value meal than eat at this place. A lot of hoofties and old people like this place. No, thanks.

We come here because they have something for everyone. The service is superb. And, you also have an opportunity to look thru their store. Sometimes they have neat stuff that you may want to take home with you.

I LOVE cracker barrel and whenever I am traveling or if one is close by, I have to get my fix of pancakes and biscuits! EVERY cracker barrel I have been to has yet to disappoint! I absolutely love Momma's Pancake breakfast! Love this place!!!

Ate there while visiting Manassas and I was glad I did. I tried southern style fried chicken with hash brown. They were yummy. Love the place too, very laid back country place. I don't know when will I ever go to Manassas again, but it's definitely on my "must eat again" list. I'd love to try more food there, such as the catfish. I also love their country shop.

I love CRACKER BARREL!! I wish there were more locations closer to the DC area however, I will take a trip to Manassas for some sawmill gravy and biscuits! Every CB I visit ALWAYS has the most pleasant hostess, waitresses, managers, and staff in general. They really give you southern comfort in every way, especially the food. I was torn between the traditional egg and bacon breakfast with all the sides (grits, apples, and more biscuits and gravy) vs. the pancake. I stared at one customer so long who was in the middle of enjoying his stack he finally asked did I want a taste. I declined, what do I look like some type of hungry hippo? Don't answer that!! Anyway I went for the Sunrise Sampler (and a side of those flapjacks). Needless to say, I ate everything given to me, except for those pancakes!!! I tasted a piece of one and it was rather rubbery but the buttermilk flavor was definitely present. I also enjoy the general store they have with all of the nostalgic items from days gone by. And last but not least, what is a visit to CB without taking a few rocks after such a great meal in those rocking chairs outside of the store. I LOVE CB!!!!

Really enjoyed our meal. Was set on getting some fish fry but that was only available in Fridays. So instead got the catfish, okra, Mac n cheese, fries. Really enjoyed the catfish! Hubby loves biscuits and gravy here. Came here on a Wednesday around lunch time. Before the crowd hit we were already seated but felt really rushed by our waitress... :(

The food here is so great, if you like good southern cooking that is inexpensive and comes in large portions ;). I just wish they had some locations in Fairfax county! But it is worth the drive and the old fashioned store is so charming. Oh and great friendly service too!

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have higher reviews. This is some of the best service that I've ever seen. We went for breakfast before a hike on a Saturday morning. It was packed, but service was phenomenal. The food was IHOP prices, but great quality. I'll be hitting this place before hiking from now on!

This is a reliable place for a late-after-the-movie dinner. The food is filling though often salty and overcooked. Waits are long at anytime of the day.

Food and service were exceptional. Went here on a super-busy Sunday and yet the staff are easily able to handle the crowds professionally and efficiently. The breakfast order was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The pancakes are the absolute best tasting from any chain in all of the country. The coffee was delicious too. I had eaten here before and look forward to another visit here again. Highly recommend.

3.5 stars Food is okay for the price. But, the service here was amazing. We had an extremely large group (that ended up taking over practically an entire section) on a late Saturday night. We were seated rather promptly for such a large group (and besides, there's no complaints on the wait since there's a store attached to the restaurant). Biscuits are good and the cornbread is alright (tasty but pretty dry). The sides really fill you up. Mac and cheese was a bit of a disappointment for me. I wanted to order the sweet potato casserole, but apparently it isn't a regular item. I'm always a fan of fried okra and mine came out fresh. I got the lemon pepper rainbow trout--it was flavorful but dry. Oh so very dry. The sides really fill you up and you definitely won't leave on an empty stomach. Our server was out-of-this-world awesome. Refills on all of the drinks were prompt and seamlessly filled. He checked all of orders twice to make sure that he had written them down correctly and even explained that he would be splitting our order up so that our orders would come out more accurately. Everything that we needed came out with our order. Word of caution, however: the maple syrup comes in a small pre-packaged bottle and does NOT come in a glass dispenser that you pour. My poor poor friend who had a cold did not realize that he had been spreading APPLE CIDER VINEGAR all over his french toast until the end of the meal. He thought the toast tasted sour, so decided that he needed to pour more syrup (which was actually vinegar) to cover up the sour taste. He finally confronted the waiter at the end saying that the toast tasted like vinegar. Apparently, it's a common mistake (for kids) to think the vinegar is the syrup. So, BEWARE, if you order pancakes/toast!

My first time ever at a Cracker Barrel. Biscuits and cornbread were fantastic, specifically the cornbread. Apple butter is delicious. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, coleslaw and hasbrowns. The hubby ordered the chicken fried chicken with beans, carrots and mac n cheese. My friend who used to work at a Cracker Barrel has basically tried everything on the menu was craving burger and ordered for the first time ever a burger steak with carrots and fried okra. So the food was pretty decent for a chain. I actually couldn't finish my food which was a first. Sides were delicious, especially the hashbrowns, okra, carrots and mac n cheese. Chicken fried chicken was good but after awhile my mouth started to hurt because it was so fried. I was the most impressed by the prices! It's really cheap for all the food you get but this is not the type of food I normally crave.

A good representation of a well run Cracker Barrel restaurant. Probably also the closest to DC proper coming in from the west. Good food and decent service. Clean and well maintained. Pretty easy to get to off of I-66. While there, you are a stones throw from Manassas Battlefield, so its worth taking time for a side trip off the interstate.

It's unfortunate that I have to give a store that I like so much such a terrible review. Granted, we came in at 8:45 on a sunday night and it was just starting to really snow. We were only here because my 86 year old grandmother wanted corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day. We came in and we're seated. Then we waited. And waited. When a server asked if we had been helped and we told him no, he said he'd go find our server. Our servers name was Megan and she came right over and asked us again if we'd been helped and apologized when I said no. We put in our drink orders and entrée orders right away. Megan brought put our waters and a decaf tea for my grandmother. Unfortunately, she didn't bring her milk for her tea. My grandma got the attention of a server named Aubree and asked her for some milk. She said sure and went to get it. She then preceeded to walk by twice without bringing it over. After a few minutes another waiter brought out our entree's and I asked him to bring over some milk for her tea. He informed our waitress and she brought it over. It's a shame the service wasn't the only problem. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage but that isn't really what I got. What I got was one and a half whole potatoes, half of a head of cabbage, three large carrots, and three small pieces of corned beef. There was no point in complaining to a manager because I don't want free food. I want the food I'm more than happy to pay for and relatively expedient service with a smile.

Met some friends here for breakfast this morning. We had to wait about 25 minutes for a table. Once we were seated, I ordered a breakfast, which included two eggs over easy, hash browns, bacon, and two biscuits with sausage gravy. Plus a cup of coffee and a glass of water. Eggs and bacon were good. Hash browns were just okay. The Sausage gravy was terrible. It tasted like burnt plastic or rubber. I could not eat it. Bleah!

I have been to mucho Cracker Barrel's across the country. This one had a great layout for parking. It wasn't all packed like some of the other ones. The inside layout is the same. I went with 2 friends. I would have given the experience 4 stars but the service was HORRENDOUS and the food alone can't boost it up. We had a server, Jenny, that acted like she didn't want to be there. She got our drink orders and we decided to have breakfast. We had been given lunch and dinner menus. We asked for breakfast menus and she seemed to be upset by that. She came back to get our order and we did not see her again until the manager came over to chat with us(an hour after taking our order). We had asked for more apple butter and have yet to receive it. I had food left on my plate but had put my fork down to take a drink, when the server put my friend's silverware in my plate and proceeded to put up my half eaten plate. When I looked at her crazy, she said, "you were done right?" I then said, 'no but I am now." I was really pissed off!! I love their bacon and I was savoring the last few bites, along with my hash browns, eggs, a biscuit. Did it look like I was finished?? Geez!! The manager, James, came over to chat with us and was very friendly. We told him our concerns and he was very attentive to us. He laughed and joked with us and got us out of our bad moods. James gets 4 stars but Jenny gets 1 star. I doubt we will be going back to that Cracker Barrel again.

Since the cracker barrel is my work neighbor, I very much want to love this place; I can literally walk to this location! However, that was not the case. A friend of mine, who also works locally, and I, met for lunch. Our experience clearly does not suggest we will have good neighborly relations. We waited several minutes until a flustered female server finally greeted us and took our drink order. Interestingly enough, we only saw her 1 more time after our 1st meeting. After several more minutes another server brought us our drinks. And she had no idea who ordered what drink. How hard is it for the server to remember or write down who ordered what? Another 30 minutes w/o our much coveted bread basket or our food. Voila out came the food from another server; the next wrinkle...it was not the correct order. It was sent back. Several more minutes and out came the food personally delivered by the male manager. The only problem; it was room temperature. Turkey and dressing that is coagulated and clumpy and cool to the taste is so not appetizing. The food was sent back for a third try; they finally got it better; not great. Why? Because the sides, including sweet potato casserole and french fries were again cold. See a pattern here; why did it take 3 tries to get it right and then it was still not right?! In baseball, three strikes and you are out; at cracker barrel 3 tries and you have lost 2 more customers. Our neighborly relations have greatly deteriorated.

OMG, what a great breakfast place. The service was great! There was a ton of choices for breakfast and the prices were budget. I can't believe all the items but I ordered a combo that had 2 eggs, country ham, grits, baked apples, cornbread, biscuit w/gravy for like $6.50. There was so much to choose: sugar cured ham, steak, pork chops, etc. They fed 12 of us in no time and they even made accomodations as we had to add 4 more people that were meeting us...as soon as a table opened up they saved it for us and it was sweet that is was next to us. What is cool is they have this large eclectic gift shop which you can shop for souvenirs whether you are waiting for a table or not. Luv the food, service and great value!

I don't know what it is but I always seem repulsed when I eat here. I've been here several times and each time I come the food seems discolored...I ordered a roast turkey salad which was good- except for the greasy, limp fried sweet potato strings on top. My friends seemed fine with their meals- a steak and a burger, but I couldn't wait to leave. Our waitress barely came to us, aside from taking our orders and bringing out our food. The shop that they have outside of the restaurant was fun to meander in, but had nothing really worth buying. Cracker Barrels in general are gross to me, and I've never liked what I've eaten there. Prices are decent...but just drive down the street about a half mile to Bob Evans where there's higher quality ingredients, cheaper prices, and food the color it's supposed to be!

I decided to check out cracker barrel because I like all kinds of crackers. Especially oyster crackers which by the way, they're not made of oysters at all! I'm allergic to seafood. I like the mini oyster crackers in chicken noodle soup. So I get to the restaurant and I was soooooo hungry. But first I picked up a t shirt that says "grandma's angel". It was a boys large but it fit. I figure large boys eating at cracker barrel get larger so they had to reconsider their meaning of large. So the shirt was really funny because I'm not dead. Grandma is dead and would therefore be considered the angel. LOL. Still starving, I picked out my meal. I had no idea it was self serve but that was cool. I totally binged. I had four licorice whips, 7 rootbeer barrels, 1 fruit punch stick candy, 24 candy buttons, a mallow pie, a box of red hots, 2 zero bars, a sassafrass stick candy ( fancy talk for rootbeer), and half a roll of necco wafers. Feeling a little ill at this point, I got a doggie bag for the rest of my necco wafers. And hell no I'm not giving them to my dog. I'm eating them for breakfast! That way I'll save money on sugar pops. So I leave and go out to the porch. They have rocking chairs there, probably made by the Amish. You know the Amish don't even get to use electric razors? That's probably why they have beards. If they made a razor it would probably be more like a sickle. Two uses. If I had to churn my own butter, I'd buy parkay. " parkaaaay". Rotflmao, that little talking tub was so funny. so use the rocking chairs first. I rocked and rocked, hoping to soothe my belly, but ended up vomiting. Right into their little flower put. But they'll never notice because the puke was all bright candy colors and so were the flowers. I hope nobody stops to smell the roses! When I recovered, I realized I was hungry again and luckily there was a golden corral nearby. They have a chocolate fountain and you can dip whatever in there. Even a pat of butter. " parkaaay" lol. While eating my second dinner I played my other purchase at the cracker barrel, a game of jumping golf tees on a triangle. Now I've never had an iq test until now. According to cracker barrel, I'm slow. This actually made me feel better because it explains a lot. I'm hoping this is proof enough for some sort of disability status. Cracker barrel is da bomb.

Five stars for the Sunday Fried Chicken Dinner! The BF and I LOVE Sundays there. In the last month, we've been to 4 different cracker barrels 5 times. No shit. I'm reviewing this one b/c it's the closest one to where I live. CR has the BEST FRIED CHICKEN EVERRRRRRRRR. If my mama didn't raise me with such good table manners, I would've picked up the plate and licked it. Other things that are tasty: Fried catfish, turnip greens, carrots, biscuits, and the fried apples. I'll admit that I'm a Californian who's recently discovered how tasty southern food can be. All I can say is that thank god Cracker Barrels are usually out in the boonies or else I'd be a zillion lbs overweight. LICK THE PLATE!

I went in wanting to love this place. My friend kept talking about how good it is and I was def. ready to be impressed and eat the best meal of my life. The restaurant has a lot of rocking chairs on the porch that you can use as a waiting area until you get a table, and a little store at the front where they sell a lot of random cute things. After my friends and I were seated and our orders were taken, it took the server a long time to deliver the food. Part of the reason could be that we were a group of 10. However, when I received my plate, the eggs were soo cold that they were completely unenjoyable. When it was time to pay, the server asked us how we wanted to do it. I told her could we split the checks and she was like "How?" In order to avoid a lengthy discussion, I decided to do the calculations myself. After 10 minutes, we found out that we paid at the front of the store, and that the lady there could do it all on her screen. Ahhh, and noone could tell us that? Uhhmm, I've def. experienced better places, but it looks like some people were luckier than I was.

Cracker Barrel is alright, but their food can be pretty bland, and sometimes overly greasy. It's still a pretty decent place to take a group of people for breakfast, or if you're on the road, as the prices are pretty decent, and it has better atmosphere than, say, Dennys.

This review is based on my experience on this store, and not on the chain. I love cracker barrel, but this experience was not up to their standards. Cold Mac and cheese, potatoes, corn bread, and biscuits all had no flavor. The best thing they had going for them the salt on the table And the really nice waitresses. Out of the 6 of us that dinned for lunch, only one of us enjoyed their food.

So, this was my first time at Cracker Barrel. I came with a few friends on our way from D.C. to Knoxville, TN. If you're looking for reasonably priced southern type food (and southern type portions), you'll probably like Cracker Barrel. The host was not too friendly (sort of quiet), but our server, Shanna, was phenomenal. I don't know if the rest of the wait staff is that friendly and welcoming, but our experience I would say was well above average thanks to the service. The food wasn't anything incredible, so I can't give this place 5 stars, but it was clean, the food came quick, and our server made us feel at home. I don't imagine I'll ever find myself in Manassas, Virginia again any time soon, but if I do I would visit Cracker Barrel again. And probably request to be in Shanna's section!

We love to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel - it's always good and service is good, often a little slow, but at least attentive. It does seem like portions have shrunk some, however. Prices are reasonable and seems stable, perhaps that is why the portion shrunk, or at least it seems like they have. All in all, reliable, consistent, fair priced meal with a level of ambiance (especially when the fireplace is going!) that is hard to beat for a family style restaurant. We eat there often - and love the Country store. HOWEVER, there is often some very confusing signage on "sale" items - for example, we tried to purchase a quilt bedspread, which had a huge sign on it saying "Country Collection, 40% off" but in very small (tiny) print it listed two patterns that were the only ones on sale - we failed to see that caveat and stood in line to make this purchase, only to find out it was not the style for sale. We felt the signage was fairly deceiving and very limiting, considering there were only a few styles and a small quantity of this particular item offered. This is not the first time this has occurred with us, but we need to remember to check the "fine print" because they use a lot of that at Cracker Barrel's Country Store. We would have purchased this item at 40% off, instead we left disappointed and a bit miffed that they continue to play this game with their customers.

Very good had the sweet potato pancakes , which I never had before. With eggs bacon and coffee. Then I asked to taste the cornbread as alot of reviews mention it. I always thought cornbread was dry but it taste good to me the butter was frozen which I never understand how people spread if not at room temp. I do agree with other reviews that we were the servers come across that they want you gone but I think that may come from a busy restaurant .

Occasionally, I really enjoy Cracker Barrel. It is one of those chains that has good old Southern Cooking. It is a chain that has a little country store inside and you can sit outside in a rocking chair (assuming it isn't 20 degree outside) and wait until your table is ready. Service was okay, maybe a little slow. I suppose it doesn't help that I am pregnant and feel like I drink water like a catus in a dry desert. Overall, my meal last night was pretty good, except my fries were a little cold.

Yet another chain I wish they had out here in California. Now, I'm not an expert when it comes to "down home" cooking, but I think this is very good!! My companion and I had a wonderful country style breakfast here. Eggs, biscuits, bacon, sausage, omelet. I already miss going here. I think it's actually a good thing this isn't in California, I'd probably gain like 100 lbs. just eating breakfast here. I also love the general store they have. My companion bought me some "Buckeyes", they're like Reese's Pieces cups, but fresh!! Oh man. I just recently found out that they might have stores a lot closer to California than I thought originally, maybe I'll go just for breakfast, or Buckeyes, either way, I'm there!!

Great food and you can't beat the price. I love the fact that you can have breakfast anytime at this place. I wish we had a Cracker Barrel in Southern California. I always go for the traditional breakfast at this place. Eggs, Bacon, Hashbrown Casserole, Biscuits and Gravy. For less than $8 you can't beat that. Don't forget to try the cold apple cider!

Want to shit grease? 1) Alli 2) Cracker Barrel. Really, 2.5 stars. I'm torn. I want to like the food here, I really do. I've eaten here 3 or 4 times, and it's always been breakfast. I couldn't find enough things on the menu (other than just ordering dry toast) to make an entire meal out of non-greasy things. I'm biased though, as each time it's been as a beginning to a long day of motorcycle riding. For anyone who's ever spent several hours on a motorcycle, when the runs start, trouble has found you. This is not good. Not good at all. The omlettes can be very tasty, likewise the french toast. A lot of people order pancakes here, but I don't see why. I will give mad props to the wait staff at this particular location - year after year, they consistently know how to keep the food flowing, and turn over tables when its really busy without making customers feel rushed. Every review of a place that serves breakfast should mention the quality of the coffee. Well, I don't drink coffee, so I can only relay commentary from those who do. "When it's a fresh pot, palatable. When it's mud, YECH!" Note that this place is very close to a giant church that gets a HUGE amount of pre-post church-goer traffic. Plan accordingly.

Pros: People watch on the "World's Longest Porch" during the 30 minute wait to be seated. If you get bored of watching people, then the store can provide further entertainment. Plentiful sides, but meager portion of the main dish. Cons: Waitstaff is impatient - ask every minute if you're ready to order and provide the bill halfway through your meal.

I go here for mainly one reason - the cheesy hash brown casserole. I will order this for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! It will always be integrated into any meal I order. For breakfast the french toast is yummy and lunch I love a BLT. I split a pecan pie slice with my friend and regretted not ordering one for myself. My friend loves the okra and she claims it's delicious. One added plus is the syrup come in these tiny individual bottles that come hot. One negative is that they still have a smoking section. Yuck!

Yum! I love this place. I enjoy looking through their store while waiting for a table and their yummy food. Down side is it can get VERY crowded on the weekends and I am not a fan of their seating but otherwise, love it.

Visited my first Cracker Barrel over Memorial Day weekend. They did give us a lot of food for the price but after tasting all the food on our table, I just don't understand why this place is so popular. I am giving it one star because the service was amazing and our server made us feel like we were sitting in a fine dinning restaurant in NYC.

I agree with what Jess said, "Food is okay for the price." They certainly give you a lot of food for next to nothing! We came here on New Year's Day and it was crowded, which is to be expected. We were told to expect to wait 20-25 minutes. We waited about 30 before we were called up. No big deal. Often I order with my gut instead of my head. I was ravenous and just wanted food. So I glanced over the menu and thought that ordering the Country Boy Breakfast was a good idea. They don't hide the fact that you get a lot of food with your order, yet I was surprised by the amount of food placed up on me. The dish includes Country Ham, Pork Chops or Steak grilled to order, Three Eggs cooked to order served with Fried Apples, Hashbrown Casserole, Grits, Sawmill Gravy and Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits. I chose to order the Country Ham as my breakfast meat. I don't like grits. I tried a spoonful. Still don't like grits. It has absolutely nothing to do with how Cracker Barrel prepares their grits, I've just never liked them. I continue to try them, hoping someone will win me over, but so far no one has. I loved the hashbrown casserole and half want more, half am thankful they only serve so much. I know it's not healthy! But it's oh, so delicious! It's kind of one of those foods you don't want to admit to friends that you like, but that you secretly eat every opportunity you get. It's a not so chic comfort food. The fried apples were good. Very sweet. Also grateful that there was only a small serving of this. The Buttermilk Biscuits were good. Nice and flaky, with a buttery outside. The gravy didn't really do much for me. I tried one biscuit with gravy and immediately regretted it. Wished I had used some jam instead. What I was extremely disappointed by was the ham. It was *very* tough. Normally you could be able to cut ham easily with the side of your fork. This was so tough that I had to saw off pieces with my butter knife. Granted, it's not a sharp knife, but I should have to break out in a sweat to cut my meat. Nor should I have to wear out my jaw chewing. My guess is that they left it on the grill too long. Instead of heating it through and getting a nice little crust on it, they must have cooked it for a decent amount of time on each side. My brother ordered the Open Faced Roast Beef sandwich. I didn't get to try any as he quickly gulped down his meal. He said it was good. Guess I'll just have to take his word for it :) Oh! I almost forgot! I also ordered the hot chocolate. They served that sucker with what had to have been a solid cup of whipped cream on top! Perfect for kids who order hot chocolate just for the whipped cream...and adults who do the same thing.

Am I the last person alive to go to a Cracker Barrel? After a 10 minute wait on a busy Sunday morning we were seated, quickly ordered and got our food. Our server did a fantastic job keeping drinks full, dirty plates cleared, and empty stuff like syrup bottles, milk cartons, etc. off our table. The french toast was insane. It didn't need syrup but I added some anyway. My only disappointment was the scrambled eggs. They were more omelet like, than stirred and fluffy. The kids portions are quite generous, and they have a nice activity book/crayons to keep them occupied during the wait.

No complaints here. This Cracker Barrel is run to the standard the rest around the country. You're not going to get a mind blowing meal but you'll get good service and fair prices. The staff are solid and I've never had a bad meal.

The name alone makes it Southern. A place to go to for Country Ham & Biscuit, also order the Meatloaf if you have an appetite. And then drink up a cream soda, mmmm so good just writing this review. Price is good and service is excellent. I recently visited one at Durham, NC and Pittsburgh, PA, unfortunately they don't have one in California, and Manassas is the first one I've been to and probably ate there hundreds of times. They do trade at NASDAQ if you're interested in their stocks. I would have given it a 5 star if not for the drive I have to do just to eat there and since I'm CA now, the fly I have to do to get there. Overall the food is great, the service is excellent and price is what you would expect to pay, which is what we all want to hear from a restaurant.

Ever since I was a little child I have loved this restaurant. I am a southern girl, and this is the one place I can get true tasting southern food. Pinto beans, okra, chickin and dumplings. Delicious! Long waits on the weekend, but hey, there's a store as well. Go shop or something, or sit outside on the rocker. I love the vegetable plate. Hashbrown casserole is awesome

The food is nasty, the service sucks. How sad for them. Found bugs in my food and the atmosphere is crappy. Way too loud and gross. Dirty bathrooms and cheap, cheap looking food. Will never go here again!

My parents travel a lot and turned me on to this place. We thought it would be expensive. But it's not. And the food is really good. Great servers, too. They are well trained in taking care of the customer.

I do not think you'll ever be disappointed by the taste of the food. Long waits with crowded country store waiting area are a norm. Fun and nostalgic rocking chairs out front to sit while you wait, though on a cool day...not so fun. Great selection of comfort foods. Staff can be friendly...but don't count on it. Portions are perfect. Foods consistently fresh. Featured menu items are good too.

I often eat there with my girls on most Saturdays. I always get breakfast no matter the time of day. The wait is about 10-20 minutes but you can play or shop around while you wait so it goes by quickly. Service can be slow but food is good. Mandy is my favorite server.

The food here is good and you cant beat the price not to mention the portions are huge. The food usually comes out pretty quick as well. Service is hit or miss though, most servers we have had have seriously slacked. There are some good ones though and for some reason the service tends to b better when the place is packed.

Country breakfast at its best. The chicken fried steak with smothered potatoes, grits and biscuit is the shiiyet. Now I know why peeps in the dirty dirty are so fat its because of Cracker Barrel. But, it's so damn good. I consider Manassas to be like the cut-off point for No. VA going west on 66. It starts to get a little country and I started getting some weird looks inside this joint being Asian. Maybe it was just my imagination. The service is very good with that No.Va touch of southern hospitality. Wait can be like 15 mins. on the weekends when they are really busy. Next time I'm there, I'm just going to order to go.

Cracker Barrel remained a wonderment until this year when I finally ate at one in FL. I ate the meatloaf and had to order for my daughter; she still thinks that mac and cheese is an entree. Silly kid. Last night the plan was to go to UNOs before seeing Juno.. I'm only just now realizing the rhyming coincidence as I type this. UNOs was packed and we only had about an hour to eat, if we wanted to get seats that weren't in the front row. Movies are much better when you don't feel like you are watching on a rocketship. We decided to go to Cracker Barrel, since it's right across the street. The Cracker Barrel was pretty busy too. So much so that we saw a guy standing in a parking space out front. I wondered.. is he holding the space for someone or does he believe he is a car. Turned out he was holding the primo spot for someone that was actually driving a car. Somehow I had forgotten that you have to walk through what appears to be a garage sale on steroids, to get to the dining area. We were quickly seated, but then had to wait a good 10 minutes for a waitress to give us some attention. No problem.. we had the triangle peg game and conversation to keep us occupied. I got down to four pegs.. Laura got down to three.. but both equate to a rating of dumb or something to that affect. Will our self esteems ever recover.. maybe. We ordered and the food came out pretty fast. I'm assuming that that might have something to do with how the food is probably pretty much ready before you order it. I had the chicken fried chicken, which was almost floating on a puddle of grease. All in all the food was alright.. what you'd expect from a place that sells crafted sweatshirts. For about 25 bucks two adults can get a hearty meal that may put some fear of the squirts in ya. ps.. Juno was really good.. even though we saw it from the third row. :)

Years ago this place used to serve a sampler of biscuit and cornbread before having your meal but that all change guessing patrons are just wasting it. Still love the pancakes light and fluffy compare to IHOP or any breakfast joint in Manassas even Fairfax. Still packed especially THANKSGIVING and CHRISTMAS which they serve a good portion and it was delicious. Food was okay, I gave it a 4 to a collection of americana antiques and 50's candy bars, etc.

For what it is, Cracker Barrel isn't bad. Walking in the door through the 'store' is overwhelming, and I don't know that I'd spend much time there, very kitch. The fried chicken is very moist and obviously just-cooked. I could have done with more corn in the corn muffins. If this fare is what you're in the mood for, its not bad.

This place is just your Southern food type Denny's. This is definitely a place if new to the South (is Manassas even the south?) but also a good place to take visitors. Great for breakfast, ok for lunch/dinner. Huge portions. Last time I got the chicken and dumplings, pretty blah. But the french toast is yummo as well as the hash brown casserole. If you have never been here, it is definitely a place to go.

Great country cooking in tight quarters. The food is great and reasonably priced. I can't see why anyone would say anything bad. The ham is especially good.
