I've been coming here for years and they never disappoint. Don't be put off by the rundown shopping strip and pull in and treat yourself to a fantastic meal. Today, I had one of the daily specials- Cajun rockfish on rice with steamed vegetables. Perfectly cooked moist fish and rice with scrumptious Cajun cream sauce. The broccoli, carrots, and green beans were tender yet crisp. Followed up with their award winning pineapple cheesecake- initially I ordered the special berry cheesecake and the waitress must have noticed my disappointment-good, but wished I had ordered the pineapple. She immediately brought a slice of the pineapple dessert. My ice tea glass was always full. U cannot beat the service here. The servers and managers r top notch and want u to have a memorable experience. I've also had many of the Mexican and Greek menu items and they are always expertly prepared and delicious: spanakopita, dolmas, and first rate chicken or beef fajitas- generous servings of seasoned meat with the trimmings and sides of rice, beans, and grilled jalapeño. My family likes the Italian items and great tasting sandwiches with some of the best fries you'll ever eat. Homemade soups-Hmmm... And don't get me started on the extensive breakfast menu and the weekend brunches! Recently left the area, but always drop by when we're visiting.

Just there 2 weeks ago for Sunday brunch. I loved my omelet but it cost me 15 for my buffet of crunchy waffles I heard on my companions fork, inedible bacon, crowded spaces as the buffet line is in conflict with the diners entry foyer. Waiters are awesome as well as omelet maker. Trouble is the reviews say Best Brunch in Manassas and it hardly measures up. We were very disappointed as it was a birthday celebration. The birthday girl had room temperature warm strawberries, hardened waffles and biscuits, and did not even want seconds at this buffet.

I really like it here! I guess that's to be expected if we've gone twice in a week. Stopped in with the husband last week for lunch and both of us enjoyed greek entrees that were great! Husband had the moussaka and I had spanakopita - both very yummy. Spinach pie served with a great Greek salad on the side and some pita bread and taziki sauce on the side. They were good enough that today, after a drs appt with my girls, we stopped in for lunch with them. I had a Gyro and it was great! the meat was super tender and flavorful. It was a little greasy, but very good. One of the daughters had a grilled cheese, tomato and bacon sandwich and she loved it. Like she requested to return for lunch tomorrow and get the same thing. Other wanted to try to the Moussaka and she loved it. We saved half for the husband's dinner. It's a nice portion. It's definitely what the name suggests- a nice family restaurant. The servers are friendly, there is a kid menu, and it's quick, good food. I'm looking forward to trying breakfast out!

I rocked up around 1pm for lunch. The place wasn't busy, the little shopping Center it's located in looked a little shady, but I thought I'd give it a go. I'm glad I did! I was promptly seated at a booth and given a menu. I ordered an unsweetened ice tea which arrived within seconds. I'd been craving Spanakopita for days. At first I couldn't see it on the menu, then I realised it was listed as "Spinach pie" so I ordered a piece as an appetiser, as I wanted the Lamb Gyro sandwich for my entree. All the food was brought out within 10 minutes, and I waited maybe 2 minutes for the homemade soup - today it was "Chicken and Rice". It was so delicious. Can't beat a simple home made soup. Loads of flavour, lots of chicken. Really excellent. The Spanakopita was well made and piping hot, served with a small side salad. I couldn't get enough of it. Deliciously flavoured and very well made - I was in heaven! The lamb gyro meat was sliced a little too thick for me, but it was delicious and the freshly made flatbread with salad, including fresh Tzatziki and crumbled feta hit the spot. The service was friendly and with a smile. What more could I ask for? I'll definitely be heading back here if I end up living in Manassas.

This looks like a hole in the wall from the outside and inside, but the food was delicious. The menu was typical diner food mixed with some interesting latin-style breakfast offerings; I had a fried plantain, rice, and egg dish which I enjoyed very much. The service was exceedingly friendly, and everything was quick and relatively cheap. If I were to be in the area again, this would be my number one pick for breakfast, even with a plethora of "fancier" options around town.

Met friends for breakfast at this amazing cafe which is kind of off the beaten path. I love the fact that it's not a huge franchise deal. Food was plentiful, delicious, attractively served, fresh and affordable. I had the five meat omelette. These people have amazing grits (a compliment from a guy who grew up in Mississippi!). I don't want this place to be overwhelmed with business, but you gotta try em. Looks recently remodeled. Service was outstanding.

Passed by this spot several times but never really had the heart to venture into this semi-sketch looking corner. See, there's a moral here. Never judge a store front by the outdated font on its slightly dingy signs. After looking around, there are a couple of salvadorian restaurants next door I may try later. It is definitely is a great spot for family dining. The food came out quickly. I didn't feel awkward at all that my kid was playing ninja with the fork and butter knife, and they provided crayons and a coloring kids menu. The owner/manager (?) came around to check on people and seemed to know regulars who were visiting. My veggie omelet came with choice of hash browns, home fries or grits AND a pancake or toast. Pretty good deal for $8.50. And the waiter accommodated my request of switching out tomatoes on my omelet for spinach at no extra charge. However I asked for some cheese on the side for my grits and didn't find out until I got the bill that it was .99¢... no biggie at all--just like to know the price upfront. My lil guy got a HUGE waffle with a side of bacon and scrambled eggs which came to a pocket-saving $5.50. Great kid's meal!! If there was any bad point, it was that my omelet wasn't super fluffy--- the veggies weren't really sautéed so it was actually slightly crunchy. But it was tasty nonetheless. As a breakfast lover, I'll definitely try this place again. Their lunch and dinner menu didn't look bad either.

What a great little down home place. Nothing fancy here, just good old home cooking. Came here for brunch and was extremely happy with the options. Omlettes, pancakes, bacon, chip beef, etc. Your good old comfort food yum! Come here early as it seems it's a favorite among the locals. Can't wait to try the regular menu as we had the brunch buffet oh yeah! Come hungry and get ready to loosen your belt!!

BEST BREAKFAST FOOD EVER. I've been coming here for years with my family. Anything you get, you'll love. No matter how busy they are, you always get excellent service. One of the very few places I've been where I have never ever been disappointed with my food.

We came based on former Yelp reviews and were not disappointed! My daughter (8) and I were seated immediately and given the menu. Our server promptly brought our drinks while we perused the menu. We ordered the Cuban French toast (a coconut crispy variety of the breakfast classic served with fried plantains) and the Costa Rican typico (an omelette with tomatoes, cilantro, and peppers served with rice and plantains). The portions were reasonable and the taste was yummy! We brought home half of the French Toast platter bc we couldn't finish it. We'll definitely return!

Have been twice - 1st was good food with fair service. 2nd time was main dishes for us both, plus salad bar, so plenty to share. But the young male server was very reluctant to honor our coupon, although it was valid - basically he was playing 'boss' without any authority! And then he was very rude to laugh when I dropped my phone, which could have broken it.

LOVE. THIS. PLACE. My wife and I were in the area and were looking for a place to have a late breakfast. I found this on Yelp, and the reviews were pretty good. The place is rather small, but we were lucky enough to be seated immediately, since it was just the two of us. My wife had the Costa Rican Tipico, and I had the Chorizo Eggs Enchiladas. Both were fantastic. This place is very unique. They have American, Mexican, Cuban, Italian, Greek, and a few other menus, I believe. The staff was super friendly, and it looked like a local hangout with many regulars. We got there at about 10:15 on a Sunday morning, and within a few minutes of being seated, the line was literally out the door and the sidewalk was crowded. We absolutely loved this place. We are in the area once a year for the same event, and it has officially become our go-to place for breakfast afterwards. I'd love to give their Greek cuisine a try. We can't wait to go back!

Delicious accidental find. They were having their father's day brunch and we happened to be in the area. Amazing plantains and chicken and rice soup. Will certainly make a trip out again for this place!

Great Latin specialty items for breakfast on weekends. Main complaint--Coffee could definitely be better. Service is pretty good even on busy weekend mornings, but this place is no frills. Cuban French toast and plantains is a highlight for me, served with real sour cream for dipping. Haven't found that outside Miami or Cali. They have a well stocked breakfast buffet on the weekends for $14-16.50 depending on whether it's a holiday or not. Never tried it however. Above all this place just has a cozy "neighborhood mainstay" feel that keeps us coming back.

Not sure what to say. This place has great reviews for breakfast. The place is nice enough, but I did not think the food was all that great. My eggs were cooked too much (brown as you can see in the picture). It was not bad food, but it was pretty expensive for what you get.

This is one of those restaurants where you want to take your family and friends. Great food, location, selection. I had the central american meal... eggs plantain, refried beans, tortillas. Delicious. This place rates for stars. Service is good, friendly, attentive. We need more places like this nearer to DC.

I owe a long-overdue updated review for Ashton Family Restaurant. My first review, nearly two years ago, was after my first visit there with my family. It was great, and we enjoyed it so much that it has become a go to spot for Sunday morning breakfast when my family visits. The downside of this is that, since it is so good and the secret is out, it is often crowded on Sunday mornings. There is almost no waiting area, and no one seems to be working as a dedicated host, so it can be a bit confusing. Still, on most visits we've been able to get a seat with minimal wait, and breakfast has always been enjoyed by the family. The Sunday Brunch buffet is always filled with nice options - although they don't offer the carving station every Sunday anymore. When I go for breakfast on other days, I typically go for their Huevos Ranchero with tortillas. But AFR is much more than just a breakfast joint. Their selecton of Tex-Mex, Greek, and Italian dishes make it a great place for lunch and dinner. Their burgers, sandwiches, and gyros are all very good. And their traditional Greek entrees, available at either lunch or dinner, are also tasty. I won't claim it to be the best Greek food I've had, or the best in Manassas for that matter, but it's something I've ordered on multiple visits and enjoyed. One night the wife and I stopped in for dinner and was greeted at the door and encouraged to try their new salad bar. I'd never seen so much advertising at a restaurant for a salad bar, or so much pride by in a salad bar. The greeter was literally beaming about it. And I saw why ... it was possibly the freshest salad bar I had ever seen, with a wonderful array of house-made salads. And meatless dolmas. Yes, that's right, all of the rice wrapped in grape leaves that you cared to eat. It was certainly something to have pride in. Ashton is just a short drive from my home, so it's a good spot for the wife and I to grab a quick meal with service and quality that we can rely on. It's one of Manassas's "hidden gems" that's off the beaten path, and worth a try if you have never been there.

Love this place! Family friendly, great food, great service. We were looking for a local, non-chain breakfast place and love it here!

  • A J.

I was pretty hungry after a workout and didn't want a huge food chain. I think "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants have better tasting food and this place held true to that saying. They have great food and affordable prices. I didn't really interact with the staff as I got my food to go but ordering online was seamless.

Thanks again, Yelpers! I was in Manassas for the weekend and Yelp led me here for breakfast. I loved this place! It's casual cafe-dinerish with friendly staff and a very "come make yourself at home" kind of vibe. I did huevos rancheros on my first visit (they were fine by East Coast standards), but found myself gazing longingly at the stack of pancakes at the table next to mine. So I went back the next morning to get them, and they were as yummy as they looked! 2 eggs, meat, taters and pancakes for like $7.99. If I lived nearby I'd be in here all the time. Two thumbs up!

My date and I stopped by for an evening dinner out last night. It was a first time for me given that I am not always in the area. The Ashton Family Restaurant is located in a small strip mall...nothing special from the outside. It is remote to the 'old town' Manassas scene and as a 'family' establishment they have carved out their own 'niche'. The dining area seemed friendly enough but dated. A salad bar...really? It looks like the last remodel took place in the late 80's or early 90's. Clean enough. The inexperienced server was polite enough and still learning the ropes with our drink orders. I asked if they had anything on tap and I was rewarded with the only option available...bud lite...or some other mass produced rice piss. No thanks. For bottled beer...I ordered a Heineken and I was good to go with a glass of water on the side. The beer selection was limited and so was the bar. I ordered the Salmon Florentine and my date ordered the Chicken Souvlaki. I actually liked the salmon dish...served fresh, hot, and sizable. My date on the other hand did not like what she was served...nothing really 'Greek' about it. Which brings me to my next point...why offer Greek , Italian, Tex Mex and standard American fair all in one menu? What does this 'family' restaurant want to be? Trying to be too many things to too many people gets you nowhere. The other Yelp reviews are positive...I am giving this review a 3 star rating for my first time around...I would be curios to try the other menu items to round out my experience. The beer selection and novice service hindered a more positive review.

This place does not have much of an atmosphere. Cleanliness could be improved and this is why I gave it only 3 stars. Their latin food is excellent though. I love the frittatas and the potatoes and plantains.

Went there for Sunday breakfast recently, we all opted for the all-you-can-eat brunch buffet, which includes an omelet bar, eggs benedict, French toast and waffles, fresh fruit and other things that I don't remember. Very reasonably priced, food was excellent, service was excellent. We must have timed it just right as we were seated right away, 5 minutes later, there was a huge line. It is a TINY restaurant and pretty plain but food and service more than made up for it.

  • Amanda S.

A true hidden gem in the area. Many folks don't know about this place but it is the best breakfast joint around (especially on the weekend) and by far the best value. Brunch prices have gotten to be pretty expensive and this place to very affordable and the food is amazing for the price. Thanks for the good service and always providing a delicious meal! If you haven't been here you should give them a shot. You'll be happy you did!

  • Damien S.

Costa rican tipico! For ten clams, you'll land a banana leaf heaped with a chorizo-stuffed omelet, light and fluffy rice & beans, perfectly fried plantains (maduros!) and a hunk of queso cotija, plus a stack of warmed corn tortillas for stuffing. Another thing to stuff? Your mouth - this breakfast special is an inescapable Latin temptress. Dios mio. Don't be dissuaded by the typically desperate tagline that banners below the resto's name: Greek, Italian, Tex Mex and American cuisine. This gaggle of regional eats is usually reserved for delivery joints that fry everything at rock bottom prices, but Ashton does the far-and-wide menu well, serving up authentic flavors as though the United Nations of chefs were tearing through the kitchen. Get fat at the AYCE Sunday brunch. The made-to-order omelet station is just begging for you to attempt, set and break an Om-Nom record.

Ashton Family Restaurant is always reliable. Our server today, Joy, was highly attentive and quick to offer suggestions. I really enjoyed her positive attitude and personal approach. The Guatemalan Tipico breakfast is wonderful. Imagine crossing breakfast with a fajitas-like meal.

Yelp was right again! We were in Manassas at breakfast time and did not want to go to the normal chain restaurants. Ashton Family Restaurant was highly recommended on Yelp, so we decided to give it a try. What a hidden treasure! We were immediately greater and placed at a table. Our server, Paula, took her time describing the almost overwhelming menu and helped us pick some great dishes. I had the frittata which came not only with home fries but also pancakes. It was fantastic! My friends had the the breakfast burrito, the Costa Rican Tipico, and the ABC omelet. Each looked better than the first! If you are ever in the area, don't hesitate to stop here. I plan to check it out for lunch or dinner. Oh and make sure that Paula is your server. She is fantastic!

We picked up a restaurant.com coupon to visit Ashton Family Restaurant some time ago and this week when we both had a late day at work we decided to give it a try. It was quiet being that it was mid-week and a bit on the late side for dinner which sometimes can be questionable at a restaurant you have never been to. When we arrived the manager greeted us like we we were family (Thus the name 'family' restaurant) and when we told him it was our first visit he was anxious to tell us all about the restaurant and the foods offered. I went Greek and got the Gyro Platter. She went Italian and got Chicken Picatta. Both came out fresh and hot. And both meals were excellent! The restaurant also serves Tex-Mex. Yes, it is one of those Tex-Mex-Italian-Greek places. Next time we will try one of their Tex-Mex dishes. And yes there certainly will be a next time. Excellent food, great service and a joy to visit. Who could want more?

Great place for breakfast. Had the huevos rancheros and it was fabulous. Prices are reasonable We were greeted with friendly 'hellos' and our server was polite, fast and efficient - came around at all the perfect moments to check on drink refills. CNN was on (without volume). GPS will tell you to turn left on Wellington; we took the left on Ashton as stated in another review and followed the road around a curve and the restaurant was on the right. Next time we are in the area, we will be sure to go back to Ashton! They accept American Express.

I really wanted to try this place because of the many good reviews. I was SOOOO disappointed with how I was treated during my experience there. I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning while waiting for my son to finish choir rehearsal. It was pretty crowded, but got a table next to a window. Furnishings looked a bit dated, but that just added to the element of the experience. Here is where things went down hill. I didn't want to believe what I was experiencing, but it was clearly evident. I received no smiles or friendliness like other guests that came in after me. My waiter didn't come check on me like I saw him check on other guests, the owner who according to the reviews says hi to everyone, clearly stayed away from my table, yet...he made sure to visit others in the restaurant. No thank you for coming, we appreciate your business. As an African American woman, it was truly amazing to see such blatant disrepect toward a new patron. The food though was actually pretty good, but unfortunately, they missed out on getting more business. Especially from my church, my office, and family and friends. It is unfortunate, they could not treat me the same as others in their establishment. It was truly an uncomfortable experience. They will never see me or any of my friends - of all colors there. Which sadly, may be what they wanted.

Thank you yelpers for helping me find a good diner out in Manassas! Oh the price our stomachs pay for moving out into suburbia! I came here on Sunday with my kids for breakfast. My daughter had the veggie omelette, home fries underneath, with pancakes for $8. My youngest and I had the Sunday brunch buffet for $12, half-price for kids. I was amazed at the selection! fresh order eggs & omelettes, eggs benedict, breakfast quesadilla, bacon, sausage, buscuits, pancakes, waffles, a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit, and then there was an amazing chicken alfredo pasta and a pot of chicken soup! You can definitely tell this is a locals place, but everybody looked really happy with their food and the service was excellent.

Best desserts in town! You must order the pineapple cheesecake and (when seasonally available) the strawberry cheesecake! For breakfast, go for the Cuban french toast. You won't regret it. Friendly wait staff and at home feel.

Wonderful quaint family restaurant. Greeted right away by friendly staff. Asked for recommendations so thought I'd try the costa rican tipico and every bite was as delicious as it looked! Very reasonably priced as well. I would definitely come back to try other foods from the menu!

Thanks to Nando F for taking me here. Utilitarian breakfast food at its finest, with a bit of culture thrown in. I had some breakfast enchiladas with some chorizo and refried beans for $10. Not bad at all, plus the food was quite good. My friend had one of the breakfast sandwiches and he was quite satisfied with it. I'm normally not in the Manassas area but I definitely recommend coming here if you're in the mood for good breakfast. Maybe one day I'll come back.

For a neighborhood family restaurant this gets five stars. Not the fanciest place in the world but the food was good, reasonably priced and service was fast and attentive. Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato, cooked perfectly, and bowl of fresh minestrone soup for five dollars.

Okay from the outside this place looks like you should pass on by. When you walk in you immediately think... I hope they have real forks and knives. It is for sure a bit dated but only in decor... not food presentation and certainly not in general premises condition and quality. It is clean and well maintained even if a little 70s or 80s ish. Npw the menu can also be scary... it is well mixed... at first I thought a small place like this... seats maybe 40 or 50 should not have such a large menu with a mix of greek american italian and even tex mex... how can it be prepared well and fresh? Judgement time... we went here because it accepted a restaurant.com certificate we had and the reviews on that site were all good... and there were many.. much more than they could have put themselves. There is a salad bar which is probably not worth the self service trips... just basic and small.. so we ordered a mix for our 27th wedding anniversary... thats right I used a coupon for the 27th. On the 30th I will pay full price........ anyway I ordered the crabmeat stuffed salmon for 20.99 special and my wode ordered the veal parmigan. D irst the special... came with xhoixe of soup or salad so we got one each pluse a clamari appetizer. The special which you m I ght think is another word for lets get rid of these yesterday left ovets bit you would be wrong. IT WS LITE FRESH TASTY AND A VERY LARGE PORTION. the salmo. Ws cooked perfect and flaky moist while tge crab inaide was white lite and well balanced as to compliment rather than over take. The calamari by the way wss firrd tempura style and the sauce was a true italian. The veal parm... well for virginia it was surprisingly ITALIAN and definately FRESH AND HOME MADE... nothing frozen and heated here. Btw... the greek sald was to die for. We will return for that alone. The moose chocolate cake desert was scrumptois lite and sweet. So 4 out of 5 due to decor and a poor attempt at a salad bar wwhich I imagine the owner does to keep the local senior market happy. Should you go... ABSOLUTELY.. should you be worried when you see the outside or walkin... forggtaboutit... its only a cover on what turns out to be a great novel.and story. Bon apetit you will love it.

A true hidden gem in the Manassas area! Sure it has that hole in the wall, greasy spoon diner feel but I think that adds to its charm. The variety of dishes is also quite unique (american, south american, italian, and greek)..Give it a try :)

Actually found this place in Yelp and figured we'd try it out. We were very impressed! Breakfast was delish. We ordered a waffle, which was very tasty. Eggs benedict and first featured breakfast (can't remember the name). My husband loves Benedicts and he kept raving about how perfectly the eggs were cooked. We like to try local places for breakfast and we would highly recommend.

What a find! We were a little skeptical when we read that this kitchen "specialized" in Greek, Italian and South American, but whaddya know -- it can be done! I ordered the Costa Rica Tipico, an omelette with tomato, onion and cilantro, served with fried plantains, a rice/bean mixture (forget the name for this...), queso fresco and corn tortillas. Of course, he actually asked me whether I wanted the corn tortillas listed on the menu or if I'd prefer either toast, pancakes, a biscuit or something else, but I stuck with the tortillas. They were out of the rice, so he offered me refried beans, and when I requested grits instead, he vigorously nodded his head, simultaneously murmuring, "no problem, no problem." The omelette was very light -- owing to the lack of cheese, I imagine -- with a fresh, summery taste. The plantains were perfectly cooked, slightly crisp and caramelized at the tips, and the grits were simple and not to heavy but with a very creamy texture. My husband had the Huevos Rancheros and practically licked his plate clean. I'm looking forward to future trips to Shenandoah simply so we can stop back here to try more of what's on the large and varied menu. Our server was reminiscent of a cross between two of our friends, both of whom truly love life, walk around with a huge smiles on their faces and one of whom always wants to make sure everyone is happy. Though young (20s?), he told us he's been working at the place for 10 years, so I'll take a guess and say he's a son of the owners. Totally affordable. I think about $25 for two, which included two breakfast entrees, two coffees and an OJ.

Tried the Sunday breakfast buffet this past weekend and although the food was acceptable, they are way overpriced. $35 for two adults, tax, tip, and one orange juice. Also noticed that from the menu, breakfast "plates" are typically between $10-$12. This is one of the few times that I disagree with the bulk of the reviews which indicate positive experiences. The service is fine, the food is ok, but for the price its not at all worth it.

On a trip out to the country we stopped by this place. Service was a bit sketchy, but its a near pure locals only type place. Ill admit I am a complete diva on food, and this place was not bad in any respect, it just wasn't anything special however. most things appear to have came from a bag which isnt really what i was hoping for from a country type place. One big issue was the water tasted like mold, and the coke also tasted a bit off, I think this place needs to look into some water filters at the very least. I personally wont be back with so many other good choices close to that area.

I can only review the Sunday Brunch Buffet but it is fantastic. The buffet had everything I could want. An omelet station, bacon, maple sausage, homemade biscuits, sausage gravy, chipped beef gravy, pancakes, waffles, french toast, and so much more. The soup (chicken and rice the day I was there) was a nice addition as well. My only complaints for the buffet is that the fruit toppings for the waffles were cold. I prefer a warm topping on my waffles. At the omelet station the cheese, salsa, and sour cream seem to be of pretty low quality. It is a buffet so it meets expectations but worth noting. My wife had the brunch buffet too and raved so much about the huevos rancheros made at the omelet station that I had to get them myself on my second trip. Man, was she right. The fried tortilla stays crisp even through the runny egg yolk, and moisture from the salsa and sour cream. I will start with that instead of an omelet next time. Some of the servers are a little gruff. Maybe regulars are used to it, but as a newbie I was a little taken aback. They were also a little inattentive to coffee and water refills. They were crazy busy so I will give them a break on that. We will definitely be back and will make it a regular Sunday breakfast spot.

Breakfast burrito is out of this world! Its different than anything I've ever had before. Its like a hybrid between a giant burrito and an enchilada. It was stuffed with country potatoes and scrambled eggs. Different but delicious and I really recommend it.

I live in the neighborhood across the street from this fabulous restaurant. To me, the best thing about them is the consistency of the food and service. Any time. Any day. Always good and friendly. The spinach pie with greek salad is my favorite, but you can't go wrong with anything. I'm glad to see so many people in the area support a locally owned and operated business. I've lived her 25 years and it has been sad to see so many people desert the Manassas business community. Love, love Ashton Family Diner.

Moved away from the area 18 months ago. Returned for surgery. Had dinner here and consistency and quality continues. We had "Veal Picatta." It wasn't on the menu, but they did have Chicken Picatta. They said they would make a meal any way you want so long as they have the ingredients. We also asked to substitute rice for pasta. Outstanding. I also had salmon picatta special that also was outstanding. Our favorite place in Manassas for meals made to order.

Tonight was our second visit to this restaurant. On both occasions we have enjoyed our meals and the friendly service. It's a small family-style restaurant, unassuming and casual. Both of our visits have been on a Monday evening, so the restaurant wasn't busy -- I'd say about 1/3 capacity at the most. If you're in the Manassas area and would like to try it, it's worth stopping by!

This is an "off the beaten path" diner with excellent breakfast. The menu provides selections from traditional American, and American-style Italian, Spanish and Greek dishes. The service is friendly and the interior is casual, clean and populated by a large following of local residents. Sunday morning brunch is quite crowded, as are weekdays at noon, so I don't even try to get in at those times. A late lunch or early dinner is best. For lunch, the gyro wrap (huge!) and burgers are good, the fries are usually outstanding. The most important thing here is that this is the deep Virginia suburbs. The clientele does not tend towards sketchy food trucks, dim Taquerias and no-English Pho restaurants. They want simple comfort food. The diner provides some extra variety while staying within those boundaries. The breakfast is always good, the Greek items seem the most authentic, the Spanish items second, with the Italian food actually being the suburban American equivalent. Some selections can be very, very greasy due to cheese overload, especially the American "Italian" selections. I have tried the lasagna twice now and both times the dish was not a layered lasagna but what seemed to be ricotta on the bottom, undrained ground beef in the middle and noodles, sauce and a hefty amount of cheese on top. One side of the lasagna dish was covered in a quarter inch of grease. The tortellini in cream sauce has arrived swimming in almost an inch of melted butter. I have had a dinner gyro platter which featured dried out meat, the edges of which were too tough to pierce with a fork. Some care is needed when exploring the menu. But every now and then I find a hit, such as a Chile Relleno special that was just amazing.

A mix of American, Latin, and Greek food. The staff is fantastic and they have the best tzatziki outside of Greece I've had. The gyro is my favorite.

I've been back to Ashton Avenue Diner a couple of times since my first visit. The previous time I had a traditional breakfast: eggs, hash browns, English muffin, and bacon. This morning Seab H. and I met for breakfast around 10:15 am. The place was packed, with lots of happy chatter going on. I arrived a bit early and nursed a couple of cups of java while waiting on Seab. I decided to mix things up a bit and ordered something I've never had for breakfast - what they call their Guatemalan Tipico Breakfast: flour tortillas, a 6 oz. skirt steak, 2 eggs, refried beans, and fried plantains, with a side of sour cream. I ordered the eggs over-easy and the steak medium. I guess you are supposed to add stuff to the soft tortillas, roll them up, and then eat them - seemed like to much work, so after rolling up the first one, I simply used the tortillas to sop up the egg yolk and just wolfed everything down as is. I added a bit of Cholulu hot sauce to the eggs and refried beans, Everything was so tasty - the skirt steak was outstanding - I could have eaten 10 lbs of that! The fried plantains were the best I've ever had, they were not plain tasting - they had a nice, sweet, crispness to the outside of them, nicely caramelized. Service was good. As always, Seab toyed with our server, in his trademark fashion - she seemed to enjoy his humor. My only beef with the place is the bacon they serve has been this paper thin stuff. C'mon! Give us some thick sliced smoked bacon! Or at least an option to order that!

Came here for brunch on a Saturday as it's been on my radar for quite some time now. They have a pretty large breakfast/brunch menu and an eclectic mix of Mexican, Greek and Italian which I thought was pretty neat, but also made me think the restaurant is having an identity crisis! I enjoyed my breakfast and so did the rest of my family. Our meals were huge and came with a side of pancakes or toast. I opted for the pancakes which were really good. I love restaurant pancakes and have no idea why...it must be that griddle! The service was pretty good, pretty attentive. But the decor leaves a lot to be desired and could probably use a reno, but I think people come here for the down home cooking and large variety of options. It's a family diner and seems to be patronized by many of the local "Manassasians". Overall, breakfast was really good and we will add this to our breakfast/brunch rotation when I'm feeling too lazy to whip up a huge breakfast for the family.

Great little lunch spot, had the gyro salad and BF got the spaghetti. The salad was very flavorful, loved the pieces of pita bread too. My BF liked the spaghetti, wasn't blown away, but really liked the garlic bread (and part of my salad he ate!) Would try it again, other yummy things on the menu!

Found this place via Yelp and probably would never have known about it otherwise as it is off the beaten path. Anyway, tried breakfast here and found the service was very friendly and the food was quite tasty. They have both America and Latin American style breakfasts. I opted for the Costa Rican breakfast and was very happy with my food, especially the yummy fried plantains.

Great little diner. We had the Greek food for lunch. Great value. Gyro meat was twice cooked but it didn't take away from the taste. The taste was very good and meat was moist. Service was attentive. Lunch was busy (good sign) but the staff was efficient. For economy restaurants this is good and I would come here periodically for the food.

First off, the GPS is a dirty, nasty liar when it comes to this place. Turn onto Ashton Avenue. Whatever other road they want you to continue on to no longer exists. I've been here twice, and it's quickly becoming the place that I make excuses to go to Manassas for. It's a great little diner, where I've enjoyed both the breakfast and the lunch options. On the weekend, they have crab cakes with poached eggs and hollandaise that is utterly awesome. Seriously, skip the canadian ham. For lunch, I had the patty melt, and it was just like I want it: dripping with butter and juice. My fiance had a gyro, and he said it was fantastic. The fries were salty and hot and pleased this fry snob. I need to get a doctor or something out here, so I can go more often.

This is one damn good breakfast spot! As others have commented, it isn't fancy, but that's part of the charm. My hubby ordered the Costa Rica Tipico (tomato, onion & cilantro omelette) and I had the Cuban French Toast (Cocunut/Caramel French Toast)...who knew they have French Toast in Cuba! Our waitress was great and we've been back a few times already. The service was fast & friendly. I'd recommend it!

we got there too late for the buffet (boo!) but LOVED everything we ordered - tuna melt, chicken quesadillas, gyros, cheeseburger, mozzarella sticks. the portions are enormous and it's obvious everything is made to order and not microwaved-prefab-franchise food. friendly staff, casual atmosphere, and far enough off main roads that there's not a bunch of crazy traffic. we'll definitely go back. one weird thing though, they have tiny, one-person bathrooms and there was an apparent cat fight going on in the ladies' room - you could hear the yelling halfway across the place. it went on for about 20 minutes. weird.

I came here a few years ago for a car meet when I was into the whole 'car' scene. It is conveniently located about a mile away from my house (please don't stalk me). The area is a bit shady compared to the neighborhoods that surround it, but it's not bad at all. This used to be a mexican place called Mexico Lindo.. but was bought out and now is a diner. I was here for a brunch on a weekend and the service was great. The food tasted homecooked.. much better than IHOP. I'd go here again if I was too lazy to make my own breakfast food.

The Reuben was flavorful without being greasy. The dining room is small and compartmentalized nearly to the point of inducing claustrophobia. The oatmeal & raisin cookie was nothing to write home about. Still, my sandwich was tasty enough for me to go back.

Food and service were excellent. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the atmosphere, looks sketchy and decor is cheesy. The pineapple cheesecake is very good, I ordered an entire cheesecake for a party and everyone loved it!

Consistency and high quality are everything and that is Ashton Family restaurant. Absolutely outstanding breakfast that is high quality, good quantity (Important for a guy like me), great price and great personal service. My g/f and I have been here a number of times and it is THE go to place when we want a great breakfast. On weekends (Sunday for sure, Sat ???) the brunch bar is great. We drive here when a great breakfast is a must have. In doing so we pass about 3 diners and a half dozen other breakfast restaurants. The assortment is outstanding with the main stay based around central/south american theme but don't worry....the omelets, homefries, and grits meet the mark in all respects. Enjoy your time here...they are unsurpassed.

So, we have been here many times before, but we didn't know they had a Sunday brunch. Thanks to Seab H. and his awesome review, we were eager to give it a try. Today we finally got the chance. We invited another couple to join us, and met them there at noon for a late-ish brunch before a day of football. Wow. We arrived and were seated, ordered coffee, waited for our friends, anxious to try everything we had seen on our way in. I immediately went for the omelet station. I chose all the stuff I love but is never on a menu in a single omelet. Watching the guy at work was like watching an artist. Brilliance. I can't make an omelet to save my life, but this guy can probably do it with his eyes closed and one arm tied behind his back. Plus, it was literally the best omelet I have ever had in my entire life. Delectable. Basically everything was delicious. The savory stuff was slightly better than the sweet. The potatoes were wonderful, and our friends said the breakfast enchiladas were to die for - I was too full at that point to get one. The waffles, pancakes and french toast pieces were a little overdone from sitting out so long, so they were a tad rubbery in some cases - if you catch them right when they put them out, you are much better off. Highlight of my breakfast was the omelet, but the fact that they have plantains - yummy ones - was also quite awesome. The staff was great, checking on us repeatedly to make sure we had enough to drink. taking plates when they were empty, etc. I am giving them four instead of five stars for the sometimes rubbery food in the brunch line and for the fact that when you leave Ashton Avenue Diner, you still smell like the Ashton Avenue Diner for a good ling while afterward. It has that diner smell I hate, and you can't do anything about it. Worth it for the food, but not somewhere you want to go if you have somewhere to go afterward and need to smell nice. Overall, highly recommend it - especially the omelets - best of my life, truly.

This is an old-fashioned type restaurant "diner". I don't go there for the ambiance, I go there for the food. I usually get the huevos rancheros or the Cuban French Toast. The latter is awesome if you like french toast. It has caramel and coconut and it's divine. The other breakfast offerings are unique and a good idea if you're tired of the same old IHOP (which I used to to love).

For my first visit to this diner I decided that I would do something safe. Because they have a variety of ethnicities on the menu i.e. italian and latin and american and greek, I was worried that they would do none of them well. I opted for the bacon cheese burger pretty easy and of course Buffalo wings. The wings were really good, tangy and spicey enough but 2 of the drum sticks had broken bones and that I just can't do so I left 2 of the wings on the plate (broken chicken wing bones creeps me out) but they were good, no where near the champ but they get an honorable mention. The bacon cheese burger was really good, ordered it med-well. I often err on the side of caution when coming to a new place and getting beef. Usually I'll get beef just Med but anyhow the cheeseburger was really good. This place is a bit out of the way for me and while I might be back sometime because this meal was enoyable, it might not be for awhile

For starters the outside of the place does not look inviting. It looks better on the inside. The menu, to me, is very limited and I struggled to find something to order, always a bad sign. I was there about 2 pm and there was one other group of two people and when they left I was there alone. I ordered the guacamole for an appitizer. It tasted good where they had mashed up the avacado otherwise I was just eating plain avacado. I asked the waiter for his suggestion for an entree. He recommended the gyro but I don't like the greasy after taste of lamb so then he suggested the lasagna. Marie Calendar's lasagna tates better to me. The food is OK but nothing I would go back for. I like trains and could see a train go by. Otherwise I think I could find better.

We were looking for a new breakfast spot and wanted to avoid the commercial places plus the menu had a nice variety that intrigued us. I got the Guatemalan breakfast (with skirt steak) and my wife got the biscuits and gravy,. My meal was outstanding and my wife's was good. We left very please and will go back another day for lunch. Hopefully this can be out new regular spot.

We got off to a good start the waitress brought an extra napkins without asking. Salad taste as fresh I ordered the Lasagna and it was very good. I have to say my dinner there was a very good experience, the pace was just right. It looks like some regulars come here to so there is a following.

This is a great little diner. I've been multiple times and the food and service are always great. I absolutely love the Gyro's and everything else I've had has been excellent as well. I saw another review on here stating that staff was too comfortable with the regulars. Isn't that what you want to see at a restaurant??? I usually get a waitress named Paula that is hilarious...quirky sense of humor. Many of the staff I've observed seem to be on a first name basis with the customers.

We stopped here for a sunday brunch after church (we'd been here for diner in the past as well). I'll just echo what most other review say - small, casual diner with very good food, excellent prices, and very friendly service. The sunday brunch had an omelet station, eggs Benedict, several kinds of pancakes, seafood gumbo soup, a wonderful pasta dish with chicken and shrimp, plantains, and the usual breakfast meats/potatoes. My only disappointment was the lack of desert (just fruit/danish). But hey, for $11 for adults and $5.50 for kids (including a drink) it was more than worth the price.

A great little local diner, especially for breakfast. The menu is diverse and all good, especially the breakfast menu. My favorites are the huevos rancheros, fritatta with cilantro and onion, and the other ethnic breakfast dishes. The service is cheerful and attentive, and gets to know each customer. Highly recommend.

This seemed like a really nice little family restaurant and I imagine that if I lived near it I could have happily have been a regular. But, I tried to go for takeout (as their website advertises) and it was a disaster. Even though I was the only person there, it took them 15 minutes to make my food, and the only hot dish was spaghetti! I can cook spaghetti in less time than that. The food was overpriced for the quality. Worst of all, they didn't have any take out soda. Not a fountain with disposable cups or cans or bottles or anything. The restaurant had a nice run down atmosphere and the staff seemed friendly enough. Parking was ample.

Ate here breakfast this am due to its location and great Yelp reviews. For a family of six the price was good and plentiful of food. It was busy at 0930ish on a Sunday, but we still received out order in a timely fashion. Customer service was great and everyone was happily full and satisfied. I had the Cuban.French toast which wasn't overly sweet with Caramel and it came with Fried banana sweetened with Sugar. Pancakes average, that came with the 2 egg meal which was a lot of food for $6.99. The kids meals were priced at $3.50 each with good portions, only the 1/2 Belgium waffle could have came with a small side of.hash browns or something. The place seemed small at first but is a descent, yet cramped but for the value.and price, and tucked away in Manassas. Most def a nice will come again. The 9.99 brunch buffet seems good as we left. Ohhh they have turkey sausage as many places do not and that is a plus!

  • Melody M.

Good restaurant, and I've had positive experiences here before, but this time we came on Sunday and tried the buffet, which turned out to be a mistake. The buffet is very meat intense, with few options for vegetarians or those that look for healthy options. The French toast was rock hard, to the point that I couldn't cut it with my knife, and empty for quite some time - and no butter. Bottom line - good food, OK service, but avoid the buffet.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The variety on the menu is surprising, I agree. But, it seems like the servers are a bit too comfortable with the customers. I've been here twice with co-workers who are "regulars". The waitress will often tell us that we are being a pain and causing her problems, sometimes in jest, sometimes not. I don't know. Maybe if I was a regular, I'd get the joke. But, honestly, it just feels like the servers are being rude and making your requests seem like a burden to them. Food wise, I did have a very good greek omelet and a fantastic gyro salad with lamb. Stay away from the white gravy (its real bad) and their hashbrowns are quite bland.

I was sightseeing in and around Manassas, but staying with a local. She took me here for breakfast and it was great! We'd had breakfast on the road the day before, at an IHOP, basically ordering the same thing we got at Ashton Avenue - eggs, bacon, toast, etc. The food at Ashton was so much better! The service is really prompt and friendly also, so a great all-around experience.

Home-style cooking. Family friendly diner. Friendly and accommodating staff. Makes living in the community a lot more special. Like it a lot. **The fish tacos were so much more devine than I ever expected.** Wish the dessert counter had more options and more fruit pies as diners tend to have. As much as I love this spot, I'll give it 4 stars compared to Yorkshire Restaurant, another nearby diner, which I'd give 5 stars. This location is far more convenient being centrally located in Manassas though.

A super breakfast joint! I love Ashton for its awesome breakfast selections. We go often with the in-laws. This is a popular place with the locals and on Sundays, church-goes are abound. The Sunday brunch is decent, the omlette bar is super! The booths are not too spacious and if you are dining with a grabby baby (like mine) it is a huge challenge to keep things away from her b/c the table is so small but she has to be pushed in so close to stay out of the asile. Ashton is a really great bargain for a decent, filling breakfast. My husband and I are never disappointed. He loves the Mexican/South American breakfast choices while I stick to the old stand-bys like corned beef and hash. The servers are friendly and attentive. It is a rare trip to Ashton where my coffee cup or water glass goes empty.

I come here with my parents every now and then. The food is pretty good and service is always fast and friendly. Definitely a good place to go if you're looking for good food at a reasonable price and don't want to deal with the hassle of going to a busy chain restaurant.

This place was good. Nothing to write home about, but food was good and service was fine. The gyro isn't really a gyro, but gyro meat on a plate with sliced pita. Still good, but not exactly what I expected. Not the easiest to find if you don't know the area. On their website, there are coupons that will save you some $.

I have been going to this little diner for about a year now. It was recommended to me by friends, who rave about their home fries. From the outside the place does not look like much and the interior is simple but neat and kinda cozy. Appropriate for a diner. Usually, I go on Sundays for breakfast or brunch. They always have a brunch buffet with an omelet station, SOS (Creamed Chipped Beef), sausage gravy and even fried plantains, among other things. The menu offers Latin American, Greek and Italian foods. Continental items are also available. The portions are plenty and I recommend the Country Fried Steak with home fries. Although the service is not great, the staff is friendly and I see the owner or manager every time, and he always smiles. Great place to eat, where the prices are right and the food is good.

It is our favorite breakfast spot in Manassas/Dale City. Sunday Brunch is a must, has a variety of foods, egg station, with fresh fruit, all the breakfast sides, great value. Been here for dinner, lots of options, all of them good. Had the steak, the eggs benedict, pasta, everything is very good, and again, reasonably priced.

Ok now if you know me you know this is the last place I would step foot in. Just the initial site makes me think food poisoning. Not saying this place was unsanitary, just saying I have a touch of OCD. LOL I step in, and kinda got a weird look from an older patron, more then likely a regular, who thought who the hell is she and why is she here. But I don't want to speculate. So I'm seated by my waitress with a smile, she gives me a menu and takes my drink order. After looking over the breakfast menu and a recommendation from my waitress I settle on the Guatemalen Breakfast Tipico. My food came out nice and hot shortly after. Three slices of plantain fried to perfection, eggs perfectly softly scrambled, delicious refried beans, and a skirt steak that was juicy, tender and seasoned to perfection. My meal also came with 4 corn tortillas, which I used to build sort of a breakfast taco with everything on my plate. To sum it all up the meal was Yum!!!! The good ol boy look of things had me scared at first, but I'm glad I stuck around. I'm giving this 4 stars, blame it in the OCD. LOL

Not a bad little diner. The menu had a variety of food on it from Greek to Italian, to Mexican. I ordered a chicken souvlaki. It was really good, and my husband seemed to enjoy his gyro. The fries were really crispy and very good. I would definitely return again!

This is a nice, family-owned diner that makes it customers feel as though you are also part of their family. I've only really come here in the mornings for breakfast, and I've never been disappointed. The servers are bright and cheery, which is definitely refreshing. All of the dishes are home cooked and come out to your table right on time. I've had the cuban french toast, huevos rancheros, greek omolette, pecan waffle, and just about everything at the Sunday brunch buffet. I'm in love. At the breakfast buffet they serve grits, pancakes, waffles, bacon, scrambled eggs, made-to-order omolettes, fresh fruit, muffins, fried plantains, ect. This is definitely your American diner with a bit of a Central American flair to keep things interesting. This place has always attracted a nice, friendly crowd as well. It's wonderful to have a great non-chain restaurant in Manassas.

The wife and I ate here tonight. We've been here a few times for breakfast. I so wanted to like this place better but tonight wasn't a overall good visit. I ordered the weekend special appetizer Buffalo Fried Shrimp which cost 8.99. What we received was amount half the amount compared to what other restaurants give. Not impressive at all. I ordered the Chicken Tender platter (I know, lame) and the chicken was overdone. The fries were excellent and the slaw was average. The wife ordered the Chicken Fajita which she seemed ok with.

It's not gourmet food, but it's good food and well known to locals. The prices are very reasonable as are the portions. The menu for both lunch and dinner is huge with everything from Mexican, Greek, Italian to American. It gets busy for lunch but isn't too bad at dinnertime. I haven't tried breakfast. I like the traditional pastas - the sauce has a little zing. There's nothing fancy about the interior, and it's a little old, but it's clean and cozy. Staff is very friendly. Sometimes (okay, a lot of the time) it just feels good to eat in a local place and eat unpretentious, traditional dishes. And although it's not the type of restaurant I'd go to drink beers with the boys they actually do serve both liquor and beer.

Not bad for a diner. We go a few times a month for Sunday breakfast or brunch, and the food is consistently good. One of the best country fried steaks around. The brunch buffet is well-stocked with bacon, sausage, potatoes, grits, waffles, french toast, biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs benedict, hash, etc, but the best is the made-to-order omelets. If you like, the chef will serve the omelet on a tostada shell, topped with mild red and green salsa and sour cream. Surprisingly delicious! I haven't tried the Greek or Italian food, but I can tell you from looking over other people's shoulders that the gyros look great. The service can be spotty (we've been left sitting with the check in front of us a couple of times), but the staff is very friendly. If you're looking for a tasty, value-priced meal, check this place out.
